“The little owl family” (Part 2)
(RZ!Michael Myers x GNReader)
Summary: your and your little sister’s life had an 180° turn when your parents got into a severe car crash, dying on the spot. You, being already past 18 had to figure out how to keep things afloat and give yourself, specially your sister, a good future. And you did! It was hard but you did it and became the absolute hero in the little girl’s eyes. People would often involuntary smile at the dynamic of your two, so wholesome and supportive, the perfect family bond. Bond that a certain Boogeyman noticed as well…
Warnings: Mikey being a bit obsessive(?).
Word Count: 2.8k
Additional info: Gender Neutral reader. (S/N) = sister’s name.
(Part 1) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5) (Part 6)
Tumblr media
It's been around a week since the siblings visited the house where the Myers family ones lived. To be honest the visit was kinda forgotten after a couple of days since they had other things to worry about; (Y/N) focused on their work and (S/N) on school and other duties a 6 y/o would worry about, as well on the owl family! Who happily accepted the extra meat the've been leaving around their backyard, they're also pretty sure that some of their babies already hatched!
However, their rather peaceful and carefree life was about to get on a bumpy ride when a certain dark massive figure was able to track them down...
. . .
—"(Y/N), can I ask you somethig?"— your sister asks from the doorway to your room, shifting from foot to foot and holding a dinosaur plushie.
—"Sure."— you say as you pause whatever work you've been doing on your computer and turn towards her. —"What is it songbird?"—
—"How does it feel like being watched?"— she asks.
(Y/N) leans back on their chair with a thoughtful hum.
—"I'm not sure, I never felt it. Though people say it feels like being exposed, no matter how hard you try to hide."— you try to explain.
—"Oh... Like being naked?"—
—"Yeah, kinda. I guess."— you scratch your cheek a bit. —"Why the question though?"—
The girls shrugs with a slightly awkward expression.
—"In scary movies people always talk about it and I got curious. And because Terry won't stop saying dumb stuff, like the Boogeyman is going to come and steal you..."— she admits, her voice sad and quieter at the last statement.
The older sibling blinks a couple of times.
—"Steal ME?"— your eyes wide a bit when she nods. —"Pff! If the Boogeyman doesn't have a pack of oreos and a new drawing tablet as a bait, I'm not going anywhere."— you joke, trying to soothe her.
But the girl just frowns more and out of nowhere runns towards them and hugs them tightly, barely holding back a sob.
—"It's- It's just- "— she hiccups a bit. —"I sometimes have nightmares where you disappear, just like mom and dad. I'm- I'm scared it will become true someday!"— she sobs into your shoulder.
(Y/N) frowns at her words, their heart shrinking inside of the ribcage with every sob that left their sister's mouth. They hug her tightly back and begin to softly caress her hair whilst speaking.
—"Hey, hey it's okay. No one will ever take me away from you. I fought to keep us together ones and I will do it again if necessary."— you say, your voice calm.
—"B-But one thing is arguing with old ugly people and the other one is fighting a monster!"— she sobs harder.
(Y/N) falls silent for a moment, thinking about how to calm down their sister. Eventually they come up with an idea. They gently grip her shoulders and push her back so they both can make eye contact.
—"I don't get it, who are you?"— you suddenly ask.
—"H-Huh?"—
—"I asked who are you? Where is my little (S/N)? The (S/N) who's so bold and brave, the one who promised to protect me and scare the Boogeyman away by stomping on his toes and slapping his elbows, where is that (S/N)?"—
The little girl blinks a couple of times, both surprised and thoughtful about (Y/N)'s words. Eventually her expression changes into a shyer one.
—"Uh... She is he-here. But- But- "—
—"Don't tell me you are going to allow some boy and silly dreams scare and hurt you. Do you remember that one movie with the 'hat-man'?"— you ask and recieve a nod. —"And how did the main character defeat him?"—
—"She... She stopped being afraid of him."—
—"Exactly! The Boogeyman is the same, a creature that feeds on fears. If you aren't afraid of it, it won't be able to do a damn."— you give her shoulders a gentle squeeze. —"Come on sis, we visited the house the monster supposedly lives, you had a smile when we got closer and you were brave enough to calm me down. Can't you see how absolutely amazing you are and how intimidated the monster must be of you and your amazing art skills?!"—
—"Yeah... Yeah! You're right! Who does this Boogeyman thinks he is to scare me?!"— she exclaims, gaze and tone determined.
—"Yes! Screw it! If any monster tries to come for us then we'll work together to scare it away! Just like we did with the 'attic ghost'."—
They both giggle at the mentioned 'attic ghost', who resulted to be a racoon that somehow snuck in there a couple of month ago.
—"But make sure to throw the plunger at the monster and not me."— you pinch her cheek while pouting a bit.
—"Hehehe sorry."— she grins, clearly not sorry.
They talk a bit more, and ones (S/N) was completely calm her sibling finally notices the time.
—"Holy cow on a bicycle, it's long past midnight. You were suppoes to be asleep missy."— you say while standing up. —"Come on, let's put you to sleep, you have school tomorrow after all."—
—"Will you read me the new story today?"— she looks up at you with hopefull eyes.
—"Not yet sweetheart, I still need to finish the last pages, or you want to leave the mystery as a cliffhanger?"— you ask with a teasing smile.
—"No! No cliffhangers, they suck!"— she huffs.
—"Yeah, agree. Just wait a bit more, okay? I'm sure I'll finish it due Halloween."—
—"Oki hehe, can't wait to learn what will happen with the birdies this time!"—
The mentioned tale has no name, it's just a little pile of stories (Y/N) and (S/N) created by accident a while ago. It started as a random drabble when the girl asked 'how would we look as owls?' and that's when it began. Both owl characters, that resembled the siblings but with some subtle changes, living the wildest anventures a kid's brain could formulate, from time travel to having a sword fight with skeletons, and despite the ridiculous plots, the stories were a lot of fun to write, draw and tell, specially before sleep.
And tonight wasn't a complete exception, sure it wasn't the story (S/N) hoped to read but an already written one, it still was a lot of fun though!
Ones the story telling session finished and (S/N) was sleeping soundly, (Y/N) decided that it's time for them to go to bed as well.
They started to do their night routine of cleaning around a bit, but something made them pause when they reached the first floor to turn the lights off. They stopped in their tracks with their gaze glued to the back door, specifically... What was in front of it. It looked like piece of paper, one that been uncrumpled.
With furrowed brows and an uneasy feeling in their stomach (Y/N) makes their way towards it, trying to convince themselves that maybe (S/N) left it there it while playing. But their blood goes icy cold when they see what is on the paper...
A orange spinosaurus with a witch hat and a magic wand.
The older sibling grips the paper tightly as they frantically look around, as if trying to find the responsible of this nonsense, yet they saw or found nothing, or maybe they were unaware of it... Of him.
At some point durning their frenzy, (Y/N) stops in front of the window and simply stares into the pitch black backyard. The owls were unnaturally quiet, no casual 'hoo' or the father flying out to get food, no, there was no sound from them at all.
Giving one last glare into the darkness, (Y/N) decides to take their uneasy feeling and the bird's silence as a warning. With a huff they close the curtains and go toward other windows to do the same, they have no idea if there is an actual threat out there but they will do anything to protect their home anyways, even if that means going full paranoia mode.
Their actions didn't went unnoticed of course, as the being (S/N) was so scared of at first was standing there, in the darkness, this whole time. His head slightly tilted as he observed the older sibling go through another frenzy.
Usually, these kind of response to his stalking would amuse him, seeing the sheer panic in the victim's eyes as they stare into the darkness, desperate to find him and coming out unsuccessful despite him being right under their nose the entire time.
With (Y/N) however... It's different. The look they sent into the darkness wasn't just a simple look of uneasiness or distrust, it was a warning. A warning to fight back and kill whatever or whoever dares to disturb them, to disturb their family, their little sister... When his eyes met theirs his breath hitched, he never saw such cold and murderous yet dangerously determined glare on him, not the one (Y/N) had.
He wasn't even aware of the adrenaline that spiked inside of him, his heart beating hard as his chest rised ad fell with each heavy breath, creating small clouds in the chilly October air. He didn't even realize how much that look affected him, how much he desired to feel it on him again, how obsessed he was with their eyes...
The only thing that bugs him is that (Y/N) is most likely not even aware who they just glared at. The especulations of their reaction when they finally uncover the truth make his mind go wild, wondering what kind of look they'll send him, what kind of measures they'll take to protect their own little 'boo' from him, even though...
He didn't even feel the need, or want, to hurt the little one... Or them.
. . .
—"(S/N)! Watch out!"—
—"Woah!- "—
It was one more day in Haddonfiel elementary school, it was currently recess time and the little girl was playing outside with some friends.
—"You almost got hit again, are you okay?"— a friend asks.
The little girl bites her lip.
—"I don't know... I'm super worried about (Y/N), since last week they've been weird. They try to act normal when I'm around, but... When they think I'm not looking I noticed how serious and scared they seem to be, always looking through the windows and even checking the locks almost five times a day!"—
—"Oh wow..."—
—"Yeah... I don't know why they started to act like that! J-Just last week everything was fine and then boom! They're different!"— she says with concern and a bit of frustration.
—"Maybe (Y/N) got snatched by the Boogeyman and got replaced by a doppelganger?"— Terry says, being right behind her, and suddenly grabs her shoulders.
—"Aaah! No! Shut up Terry!"— she exclaims angrily as she slaps his hands away. —"And no one snatched them away! They're just going through a lot of stress!"—
—"That's what the doppelganger wants you to believe! Bet the Boogeyman had already ate the real (Y/N), and soon he's doing to come and eat you~."— the boy says with a sweet yet mischievous tone.
(S/N) grits her teeth both annoyed and angry at her classmate's attempts to scare her. When the ball bumps into her leg she grabs it and with no hesitation throws it at Terry, purposely aiming at his face.
Miraculosly, the boy dodged the ball last second and with a loud goblin-like laugh he runs away, pleased that he got a reaction from the little girl.
—"Hey! The ball-! "—
—"I'll go get it..."— she mumbles, still a bit frustrated and disappointed that it didn't hit the boy.
The ball went quite far despite being thrown by a 6 y/o. The girl rushed towards the direction where the ball went flying, which was the furthest part of the school playfround, slowing down at the end when she realized the ball wasn´t near the fence.
With a more concerned look she takes one or two steps forward, being just 4 feet away from the fence. Her gaze is focused outside of it in hopes that the ball ended up not too far and she could simply reach it. She suddenly stops when noticed some weird tree trunks at the other side... Huh, she's pretty sure a tree trunk is brown and not dark blue, or wears shoes...?
She begins to slowly drag her gaze up and then realizes that the blue 'tree trunk' is not even a tree, but a person, no, a giant!... Wait, he got the ball! (S/N) was about to innocently step closer and ask for the toy but froze in place when she saw the giant's face, a terrifying emotionless mask that made his eyes appear black, like two endless voids staring into her little innocent soul.
The massive stranger then slowly extends his arm, just enough so his hand goes through the bars, silently allowing the little girl retrieve the object.
The girl swallows loudly as she gives quick glances at the ball, which looked so small in the stranger's big hand, and then at his uncanny masked face. Technically it should be safe to take it, the man's hand is barely going through the metal bars of the fence, all she has to do is yoink the toy out of his grasp and run away.
It should be quick, it should be easy!... Yet her body refused to move...
The giant slowly tilts his head, as if silently asking what's wrong and why she's not taking the object back.
Durning this little staring contest, the world around goes completely silent, which made the already tense and eerie atmosphere turn even more bizarre. The girl starts to remember all these talks of 'stranger danger' (Y/N) would give her, and the advice that stick out the most kept resonating in her mind over and over...
"It's okay to judge at times..."
"...for a reason first impressions are a thing."
"Remember songbird...
"...if someone gives you the heebeegeebees, forget politeness..."
"...and get away from them."
And they're right... This giant is giving her the heebeegeebees!
Releasing the breath she didn't know she was holding in all this time, the girl throws one final glance at the man, her innocent eyes expressing fear and distrust as she turns on her heel and runs away like a spooked kitten, completely forgetting about the ball she was supposed to retrieve.
His head straightened as he watches the girl run away, frantically pointing towards his direction when her friends tried to ask what happened but, of course, he was long gone when they looked.
After this little interaction, he was left with a weird yet unpleasant feeling. The way the little girl looked at him made something inside of his chest squeeze, the same feeling he got as a kid when he accidentally made Angel cry for the first time... Is this what guilt and shame feels like?... He can't tell.
He probably shouldn't have revealed himself like this, so out of the blue. But today he was feeling particulary gloomy, and after observing the two siblings for nearly two week he couldn't help but notice how the little one behaved; so carefree, so curious and enthusiastic about nearly everything, so mischievous yet sweet towards her older sibling, worrying about them, caring for them... It reminded him of 'boo' so much.
Is this really how things would've turn out between him and Angel if they grew up together? If he just could've made the things right that night and prove that he can be a good big brother? He'll never know, not when Angel is somewhere else now, hiding from him, not for long though, he will find her eventually and try again... But for now, all he can do is stay hidden and observe, observe the siblings interact and fantasize that one day him and his sister will share the same strong bond...
One day...
. . .
The bell rang, meaning that the final class finished and the kids were free to go home.
(Y/N) is standing outside the school, near the gates where all students were about to come out. They were calmply waiting for their sister to appear, already changing their moody and tired expression for a softer and brighter one so the little girl doesn't worry.
But their happy mask falls off completely when they see their sister exit through the gates. Her eyes and nose had a reddish tone as if she've cried not too long ago, her face was also pale, pale and filled with fear as if she just seen a ghost.
(Y/N) has no time to even formulate a sentence in their mind when their sister suddenly rushed into their arms and let out a muffed sob, one that she've been probably holding back for a while.
Panicked and concerned (Y/N) kneels in front of the girl and gently take one hand into theirs while the other one is wiping the tears sliding down her cheek.
—"(S/N)? My goodness, songbird. What happened?"— you ask, doing your best to keep your tone calm.
The girl hiccups a bit, letting the last couple of sobs out and eventially collecting herself enough to speak.
—"(Y/N)..."— she says in a shaky and tiny voice. —"I think... I-..."—
—"I think I saw the Boogeyman."—

The thought just struck me
Do you think anyone but the teens ever knew that normal watched his mum die? Because I don't think they'd mention it personally,
She's there, she's fine, the whole family is back together, finally, and the kids are all still in shock from this huge horrific fight, killing a man, and then becoming god for a second
So it's forgotten in the moment
And later they each remember it, but individually don't bring it up for whatever reason, link doesn't have the voice for it, Taylor doesnt think to mention it, scary is having a hard enough time bringing herself to tell her parents anything, let alone something she views as indirectly her fault (letting willy out in the first place)
And normal? Normal can't bring himself to ruin the good vibe in his family, his granddad is here, his parents are there, completely fine, uncle lark is doing better and getting on with grandpa Henry, hero is even spending time with him
How can he tell someone he watched willy murder the woman standing there in front of him, laughing at something lark said while he's washing up
Maybe hero finds out first, months later, maybe years, hidden under a duvet in the dead of night, they do this sometimes, when hero can't sleep thinking about her almost destiny, and normal can't sleep because of his destiny that was
And he whispers to her, very quietly, that sometimes he forgets that he'd brought mum back when he was god, some days he walks down stairs and instead of his mother eating breakfast or drinking coffee all he can see is the look on her face the moment she exploded into dust, sometimes he's not sure shes really their mother but is more like the build-a-bear hermie2, who is definitely a real person sure, but hes too similar to normals dead husband while too different at the same time
Or maybe it's scary who says it first
In one of the many midnight snack meetings she has with Terry Jr nowadays, they never talk much, usually just absentmindedly watch some TV while neither can sleep because of willy
She says that she feels guilty for a lot of things, and she knows she's not supposed to because willy manipulated her, but even when she can forgive herself for the active participation in tony pepperonis murder, she hasn't been able to forgive herself for causing Rebecca's death, and she's not sure she ever will
I love how will Campos can go an name a character Normal as if I'm ever going to have a normal thought about that boy ever also him and Hermie2 did date for a bit but had to break up because normal kept waking up screaming thinking he was back holding Hermies lifeless corpse byyyeeeeeeeeeeeedeeeeeeeeeeeee
HI SORRY I NEVER ANSWERED YHIS OOPSIES
and yea i think norm prob did not talk much abt what happened given that bec is still alive, and it's just kind of? brushed over at first?
i think he maybe doesn't even Realize it's still affecting him at first but every time he sees his mom laugh it makes him feel kind of sick. his fight-or-flight activates when they're having family time and she's not there, and at first he thinks it's just because he still isn't getting along with sparrow that well. and then one day he has a nightmare, maybe, or a panic attack, or Something. and it just clicks. he watched her die. she shouldn't be here, but she is, and so all of the love and grief for her can't even come out. it's all stuck in those few moments where she was gone, and so is normal, and so he can't quite believe that she's real unless he can actually see/hear her (and even then, sometimes it's hard)
BUT i do wonder if sparrow knows, given that norm chose to use the 'wish' on the throne to bring back her (&the rest of the ppl willy killed). and i think they worry abt it a lot, esp having gone thru the Same Thing (twice, if you count lark in oakvale) but norm obviously doesnt want to talk to them so they don't even know if they should try.. uaugh.
also norm and hero :(( i adore them i am cradling them so gently. The siblings ever.
+ ALSOOO scary . see this is extra crazy b/c obviously she is in a very similar situation as well with terry jr.. norm wanting to talk to scary b/c maybe she'll Get It but also being so worried that scary is going to blame herself even more if he opens up abt it.. what if i Died
+will campos wants me specifically dead i'm gonna GET him

hey what’s up hello okay so i finally just finished s2 e52 of dndads (had a very crazy work week so was listening in bits and pieces) and here’s the thing is that im also currently relistening to the whole season and earlier in this week, the most recent episode i finished, was halt and catch fireball, and before that ya know was mrs. swallows oak garcia’s home for peculiar teens or whatever that one is called where they are just. at normal’s house and we got to actually get to know rebecca a little bit and i have got to say that i don’t know if i could’ve picked a more painful and wild older ep to listen to as a precursor to dood riddance i really don’t!!! literally half of the shit in dood riddance just circles back to that arc in the swallows oak garcia home and it’s CRAZY
like first of all. the red vines, which they called twizzlers the entirety of e52 which was MADDENING as a person who legit just finished e30/31 where the red vines were introduced
but then like. e31 is where taylor gets the anime sword from nick!!! that he loses in e52!!!
there were a few other things that i’ve forgotten in the half an hour since i finished the ep because my brain is a sieve on a good day and i’m just getting home from two back to back 13 hour shifts (with an extra 1hr10/20 each day for the commute) so the brain machine is so fucking broke rn
but mainly. i wasn’t loving e52 esp after dood left i just was not vibing with it, i feel like the vibes were off in the room in a way that translated into the ep for a bit there, but then anthony in those last like three minutes brought it back around and with the roll of rebecca??? after i legit JUST finished listening to the eps that feature her the most prominently and like truly showcase not only normal’s relationship w his mom but also, as is said several times in e30/31 and their teen talks, just how similar normal IS to his mom and how he really clearly is a total momma’s boy and very much so seemed to be a kid who sought solace with his mom more than anyone else in his family and just. having legit JUST reestablished that in my own, made the end of e52 DEVASTATING for me in a way that idk if it was for other ppl??? idk haven’t checked the fandom yet im very disconnected this season but just.
like
i think that okay so we have ten parents it could’ve been, right? and five of those are the kiddads, and none of us want to see them die, so in that moment when anthony was telling us what was gonna happen, obviously my instinct was like “oh god don’t do this don’t do terry jr again but truly permanent” and then my next instinct was that it would be potentially even MORE awful if it was scary’s dad because finally there he is and that’s ALL she wants and for willy to take that moment from her would be INSANE and then (mind you this was my thought process over the course of literally 10 seconds, my brain is ping ponging in my head and has been since the second i got in the car to head home i need to sleep) and THEN my next thought was, oh god, but how fucked up would it be if it were marco??? oh god, how fucked up would it be if it were cassandra?!?!?!?! and then it was time for the roll and truly in those brief seconds basically my brain flicked through every potential victim and said “oh god THAT one would be the WORST”, EXCEPT for veronica and rebecca, and it made the hit of it being rebecca who was low down on my instinctual list to think of but then the second he said her name i was immediately ricocheted back to earlier in the week when i was listening to halt and catch fireball and mrs. swallows oak garcias home and how many emotions i had about normal and his mom just relistening to those episodes and then the fact that i DIDNT think to worry about her just
all of that combined to make that a CRITICAL HIT FOR ME OKAY like i am SO fucked up over this truly that was WILD and i applaud anthony burch for it and now am excited for the finale even though ive spent the last three eps just dreading it for several reasons but now im excited and devastated and i love that
anyways. that was word vomit i just NEEDED to get this out because the connections between those two episodes really will not stop hitting me in the head and i need to impart that onto SOMEONE. if u read this. ur a real one. rip rebecca swallows oak garcia you were a legend and i am so sad about u

always always thinking about your post that was like “normal has a very high threshold for being loved that is nearly impossible to meet and he will do *anything* to feel validated” and then today in the discord during the part where willy reveals it could’ve been either normal or scary, will said “willy fucked up normal would burn the entire world down for the tiniest crumb of validation” and just. screaming screaming forever about this boy’s inability to ever feel loved enough, he is every webweaving post about always devouring and never feeling full from love, this boy is RAVENOUS and it’s hard to understand how the oak good-boy morality can even supersede that, he has every trait imaginable to become a villain and it feels like the only thing preventing that is the desire to be good, bc tbh I don’t think he wants to be good more than he wants to be loved
SORRY FOR TAKING ALMOST TWO FUCKING WEEKS TO ANSWER THIS ANON!
Eheh, firstly *thank you* because this message is very sweet and made me extremely happy. The post you’re talking about took a good while to write and came with a lot of anxiety so it’s very nice to hear that you’ve kept fragments of it with you, I really do appreciate that!!! 💜
I’d debated for a bit on answering this privately to be honest with you, as not every fire I’ve sparked is one whose flames I wish to fan, so to speak, but everything you wrote is just so on-point and well-articulated that I couldn’t resist. Otherwise. *Ahem*. I know it's very very silly to respond to a response about an essay with what is essentially another essay, but you see, in thinking of how to answer your message, I got a little caught amongst many other things that have been on my mind... And I've seen some takes that have annoyed me for one reason or another and couldn't decide how to address those and. Well. Ultimately I decided that the stuff I wanted to talk about was connected *enough* to the stuff brought up in your message (as well as in my original post) that I could put it all together, soooooooo if you'll entertain me rambling once more~
Let's start by saying that, I recently saw a take going around stating that “Scary’s internal issues caused her external issues while Normal’s external issues caused his internal issues” (among a number of other statements that I frankly found pretty questionable), and I must say, for reasons that I hope to explain, I disagree with this assertion on both accounts!
In Scary’s case, this statement completely erases and undermines the trauma of her dad walking out, and what that does not only to her confidence and sense of self-worth, but to her relationship with her mother as well. And the degree of the impact of this external trauma on her internal view towards and treatment of herself is clear as day just by looking at the stark contrast between Terri and Scary. Scary (Terri) is someone who once had confidence in herself and could find validation and motivation internally, most recently evidenced by Terri's words of encouragement to Scary whilst under beacon of hope:
But then her dad leaves, and things get harder at home, and Scary starts to fight with her mom (her mom who she once called her best friend!!!), and she starts to feel worthless and unlovable- something that only gets worse with time as Willy alienates her from the rest of the group, case in point with this revealing exchange:
Tumblr media
No one’s told her they’re proud of her in a long time (sound familiar??),
Tumblr media
her teachers at school shut her down when she tries to speak her mind or otherwise dismiss her behavior as “acting out” seemingly without any sort of intervention or attempt to actually check in with her,
Tumblr media
[the above teen fact is from episode 31]
Only then, in response to her diminished sense of self-worth does she begin to cut herself off from the rest of the world and from her former self, most importantly quitting soccer (which we know matters a lot to her!),
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and those things leave her even more vulnerable and supportless and ashamed. Not to mention all the mixed emotions she must feel when Terry walks into the picture, between actually liking him but not being able to see his love as genuine due to her relationship with her bio dad and all the frustration and shame she must feel as a result.
This is not to claim that Scary’s internal struggles do not inform a lot of what happens to her and the people around her over the run of the season- of course they do! (In fact some of the later things mentioned above are examples of that- I guess I got a bit carried away). But Scary’s major internal struggles that affect her throughout the course of the adventure are preceded by a slew of important external events that negatively affect her psyche and are in many cases out of her control. Scary’s internal struggles did not originate in a vacuum, and I absolutely would not say that they “caused” the bulk of what she has been through.
Unlike Scary, Norm’s excessive dependency on external validation to feel like he’s worth anything begins when he is very young. [Emphasis on “excessive” here, since obviously everyone requires validation from others to some degree, the point being just that this trait is so very pronounced in Normal and, as I argued a bit in the post anon is referring to, usually the most important factor informing his courses of action, superseding (but not implying the absence of) any desire to be good and help those around him. Will’s statement (the one which anon quotes) seems to corroborate this.] We know that things go so far back from Sparrow’s account in episode 17:
Tumblr media
It’s important that this is about Normal’s kindergarten experiences too, because it tells us that Normal’s predominant internal issues go back farther than this and hence were not caused in and of themselves by his peers- instead being perhaps more fundamental to who he is as a person.
This is not to say that external events do not exacerbate the state of Normal’s psyche. In his youth most notably, we can infer that he interpreted Hero’s treatment (which of course he did not understand at the time to be her training) as favoritism, and I think it’s pretty clear by this point that his resentment of her is tied to the degradation of self-esteem that he experienced as a result.
Then of course there is the dance. Sparrow’s words to Normal during the dance obviously consist of a very pivotal moment for Norm within the context of the season, but I think it’s important to remember and not erase the fact that Normal’s internal issues with validation do not begin at the dance, as established in the kindergarten case but also further exemplified by Norm’s primary motive in becoming the school’s mascot in the first place (to get everybody to like him). I think it’s important to remember this in part since it informs so much of Normal’s reaction to what his father has to say, immediately afterwards but also throughout the whole rest of the season. No kid wants to hear that their parent isn’t proud of them, but the severity of the response to this sort of statement is going to vary drastically depending on the person, and in Norm’s case, given his natural disposition, it’s devastating. [and I swear there’s a teen talk moment where Will says basically this but I can’t find it for the life of me rn damn it lol maybe I’ll edit in the clip later if I do]
Of course in this specific case, one can still mostly say that the problem stems from outside of Normal, and that his preexisting issues exacerbate his response but are definitely not the cause of it. Outside of this instance, however, this is not always true! In fact, Normal’s excessive dependency on external validation and related rejection sensitivity (negatively) inform a large amount of his interactions with those around him, particularly Lincoln and Taylor (imagine me underlining “Taylor” several times as I say this). Truthfully that’s a whole ramble on its own, but with respect to more recent events, I have to admit that I was genuinely quite irked to find a lot of people blaming Taylor and Lincoln for Norm’s response to their uh. mech shenanigans in episode 37, choosing to frame this as an act of moral failing or even malice on their part, rather than a reflection of Normal’s own issues and room for growth. Lincoln and Taylor were simply focused on the mission at hand, and there was no good reason realistically speaking to have expected them to be aware of Normal’s emotional state at that point in time (or in general, to be aware of the jealousy their bonding moments evoke within Norm- particularly when Normal consistently fails to communicate and address those emotions with them in a manner that is direct and not passive-aggressive). Lincoln in particular is very clearly stated as not even having fun in that moment, very understandably being focused instead on the fact that his friend Scary is around his father, who he just witnessed, you know, murder someone. This is not an instance of the world going against Norm for no good reason other than to put him through it, this is a very clear example of Normal’s internal issues affecting the way he perceives external events in a manner that is not actually very reflective of the reality of the situation, and which of course feeds in further to his cycle of self-loathing (and I won’t go into it here since I sort of did in the post anon is responding to- but Normal’s negative reaction to Lincoln breaking the pick to gain Scary’s trust is another important example of this [tbh all the more so now coupled with the hypocrisy of how he handles the anchor in Goofs but that’s a tangent]). As aforementioned, Norm also struggles a good chunk of the time to actually explain his feelings in a manner that is direct and does not rely on blaming others for not picking up on his dejection, as exemplified in how this discussion goes with Lincoln in the most recent episode:
The treatment from fandom of this whole instance being reflective of a reoccurring issue I tend to have with a large chunk of the fandom, wherein the collective memory of canon tends towards getting warped to account for Norm’s mental state. Sometimes that’s hailing him as some morally-perfect, emotional reincarnate of Henry (as though the pride layer didn’t happen, as though Goofs didn’t happen, as though all of Norm’s relationship with Taylor isn’t what it is- …I feel like I should stop implying stuff about the significance Taylor and Norm’s relationship and not elaborating but it really is an essay in and of itself LOL), other times it’s just downright turning everyone around Normal into a villain, a persistent phenomenon which I sort of illustrated in the above example but also touched upon in an earlier essay (arguing that despite the fandom’s quick jump to villainize him- Lincoln breaking the guitar pick would prove to be an act of love). Sparrow also takes a good brunt of the damage from this. Sparrow saying he’s not proud of Normal gets turned into Sparrow not loving Normal (despite an abundance of proof in canon to the contrary), his apology for what he said and the support he shows for Norm in light of his alternative plan on dealing with the Doodler are completely ignored by most of the fandom, as are any other demonstrations of emotional availability and shows of growth that he displays throughout the course of the season, and the true motives behind Sparrow’s insistence on Normal living a “normal” life- to protect him from the childhood that he but also that Hero had to undergo- is somehow framed as Sparrow actually holding some kind of favoritism for Hero. It’s as though there is a complete inability on a larger scale within the fandom to see Sparrow as separate character outside of the filter of Norm’s emotions, and the other teens (including Hermie) get a similar if less pronounced treatment.
[Actually, I would argue that to some degree all of the kiddads except Terry (and Lark since he’s not officially a dad) tend to be perceived and criticized predominantly through the noise of their respective child’s emotions/behavior. In Grant’s case, Lincoln 1. spends a good part of the earlier half of the season asserting that his dads are the best dads in the world despite everything going on and 2. has a very unfortunate tendency to compartmentalize and push down his negative emotions as much as possible- in typical Wilson fashion- so the complexity and severity of Lincoln’s issues with his dad generally go understated, and only now that Lincoln has begun to be more vocal and upfront about his issues has some of Grant’s parenting finally begun to come under fire, and even then mostly only his more recent transgressions. In Taylor’s case, Taylor’s emotional security/stability and general fondness for his dad mean that Nicky is being hailed by many people as “the best dad” where in fact Nicky- while certainly helping the teens out in many ways and perhaps even acting as a friend to them- has done just about jack shit for Taylor as a *father*, and really if Taylor has anyone to thank for being as well-adjusted as he is now, it’s definitely his mom! But I digress.]
Normal and Scary are very similar, but the way fandom treats them is very different. People (mostly) seem to be able to acknowledge that Scary, in spite of her mistakes and flaws, is a scared, tired kid with a good heart who is capable and deserving of love. In Normal’s case, I just can’t seem to shake the impression that the fandom (in general) would rather strip Norm of all the things that make his character complex, and nuanced, and flawed, reducing him to an utterly uninteresting husk of a character before depicting him as anything other than a perfect goody-two-shoes who has never hurt anybody in his entire life or daring to acknowledge the fact that “Normal has been through a lot, is hurt, and deserves a good support system and emotional validation” and “Normal can at many times be his own worst enemy, sometimes makes mistakes that affect those around him, and has room to grow emotionally” are notions that can and should coexist. Or at least, that's my two cents on the matter.

I FINISHED IT!
I'M GONNA GO BE SAD NOW! AND TERRIFIED! MOSTLY TERRIFIED!
Spoilers:
I feel like this season was one of the scariest, in my opinion it just felt... scary. So many elements now in the story just made it... creepy, and I loved it. My Rayllum heart is satisfied. As is my Jamaya heart. And my heart for Terry x Claudia is... I mean, it's getting there.
I liked this season a lot. There were a lot of scary undertones of the characters and their thoughts. For example, Rayla puts the mission above her own wants. Even after she tells Callum, she's thinking about the mission. And the way she pushes past her fear of water, she goes down to fight and save her friends.
Callum! Calllum! Callum! THIS BOY IS GOING THROUGH IT! THE PAIN! THE DARK MAGIC! THE GUILT! IT'S ALL THERE! HE IS LITERALLY BLAMING HIMSELF FOR RESORTING TO SUCH A SOLUTION TO SAVE RAYLA! TWICE!! HE DID IT TWICE FOR HER!!!NOW IMAGINE CONSIDERING CLAUDIA'S SORROW AND GRIEF THAT WILL PROBABLY TURN TO FURY?! SHE'S GOING TO FIGHT RAYLA AND SHE MIGHT EVEN KILL RAYLA! AND CALLUM WILL PROBABLY USE DARK MAGIC TO SAVE HER IF THAT DOES HAPPEN!!!
Ezran, he needs to be a child. He needs it. Thank you, Corvus and Soren, for aiding that, especially Soren. EZRAN MIGHT DO THINGS HE MIGHT NOT LIKE! GIVE THIS BABY BOY A JELLY TART AND LET HIM BE A CHILD DAMN IT!
BABY SOREN! AAAAAHHHHH, BABY SOREN AND BABY CLAUDIA! THE WAY THE DREAM REPRESENTED THE WAY THE KIDS HAVE CHANGED WITH VIREN USING DARK MAGIC! SOREN IS SCARED AND HE LEFT BECAUSE IT TERRIFED HIM WHAT DARK MAGIC HAS DONE! CLAUDIA IS FOLLOWING IN HIS FOOTSTEPS AND EVEN GOING BEYOND SO FAR THAT VIREN CAN'T CATCH UP!
WHAT MAKES THIS WORSE ABOUT CLAUDIA IS THAT I READ THE GRAPHIC NOVEL TODAY! DID SOREN ALMOST DIE AS A CHILD?! HE WAS ILL AS A CHILD! VIREN'S MENTOR IS GONE AND TRAPPED IN A COIN! IS THAT WHY CLAUDIA AND SOREN'S MOM IS GONE?! BECAUSE SHE SAW WHAT HAPPENED AND RAN FROM IT! WHICH MAKES SOREN LIKE THE MOTHER AND MAKING CLAUDIA FEEL MORE ABANDONED!?
WHAT IS GOING ONNNNN?!?!
...
...
...
...
...
I'm fine...
I'm...
I'm going to go to a corner... yeah... I'm gonna do that...
Alsoooo gonna make a fiiiic.... Rayla is going through after effects of the freezing spell. Aghhhh. You can't tell me her blood through her veins turns cold as ice, and she's just fine with it?! Nu-uh. Gonna traumatize my girl, hold up.

Scary has four memories involving her stepdad's old mirror. Out of the four, she's only looked at her reflection once.
Parts: Prologue (Ron & TJ), Memory 1, Memory 2 (here), Memory 3, Memory 4 Warning: Mentions of parent shouting at child, no specific dialogue but implication of verbal abuse is there...its Scary thinking about her bio dad for one paragraph. --- There's a flu going around at school and, unfortunately for certain punk soccer players, its gotten to several of her fellow teammates as well. And eventually, when she'd gotten comfy in her wellness while others may have fallen, Scary is down with the sickness (not the cool kind) too.
She's stuck in bed for the week after having to go home early on Wednesday. And of course, she will be missing the game on Saturday per stupid doctor's orders! Its the kinda thing she'd want to scream about in the shower or into her pillow. If only anything above a whisper didn't make her feel like she was swallowing rocks. Its Thursday morning now and she's only felt worse so far. Feels like the week is lasting forever too. Scary sleeps much of Thursday away, feeling too warm, too cold, and not wanting to even smell a tiny bit of food. She vaguely hears her parents--her mom and Terry coming in and out of her room to check on her. Her mom's calling her pumpkin like she used to when she was younger. Wear a pumpkin costume one time as a toddler and your mom never forgets it! Its...really cool to get more time with her though. Like they used to before her firm got more business.
They spend Friday morning huddled up together on the bed and watching Nightmare Before Christmas for the fifteenth time. Terry spends a lot of time handling the meals that day and going out to get medicine too. Scary only ate a little of each meal, but it was surprisingly nice. And speaking of Terry, she swears he's murmuring a different nickname every time he comes by each day...whether its to get her more water or to check her temperature. Or if its the middle of the night and mom's gone to bed and he holds her hand while she coughs so hard her whole body shakes and keeps holding on even when the girl's sure she's been squeezing back way too hard. She wants to ask him why again, why he's so happy to talk to her, why he keeps coming back even when she gets snot all over his sleeves--- All of those questions are too heavy to speak out loud. She chooses to ask something else when she catches her breath: "Why do you keep calling me all those mushy names?" He laughs a little and tucks her gently back into bed while simply saying that his mom often did that for him. She falls asleep before she can ask about his dad and the last thing she hears is "goodnight, babygirl" while feeling a hand softly brushing through her hair.
Scary wakes up to the dim moonlight shining into her bedroom. The remnants of a weird dream leaving her frustrated. The whole team lost because the other team made the soccer ball ten feet tall. They kept chasing them all around with it. She knows it was a dream but it feels like she still spent thirty minutes running somehow! The girl stares at the ceiling angrily and takes a few deep breaths, plays with the stray threads at the edges of her blanket. Terry had offered to repair the blanket some weeks ago, but she refused. Its a good thing too, these threads were her lifelines right now. Besides, like her metal ripped jeans, these threads gave her blanket just the right flair, okay? And, there was no need to have him waste time on her stuff anyway! He and her mom had their own work stuff to handle too. Its why she told her mom not to worry about taking any more days off to watch over her too. (She'd overheard her mom's boss on the phone yesterday.)
A cough and sneezing fit interrupts her thoughts and she squeezes the blanket tightly for a moment. The girl looks off to the side to see what time her black alarm clock says and a haunting 2:00 am looks back at her. She grimaces, sits up and wipes sweat off her forehead. Her throat doesn't hurt anymore and thirstiness has replaced the scratchiness. The girl decides to refill her glass on her nightstand and very carefully walks out her room. When she's heading back from the kitchen, she hears whispering at the end of the hall. Her room is back the other way, but she doesn't want to go back yet. Instead, she slowly creeps down toward the stream of light coming out the storage room.
Scary peaks into the slightly open door and sees her step-dad sitting in front that antique mirror. The engraved phrase 'Stud' glimmers in the light. The murmuring stops and sniffles replace them until she watches her step-dad get up. He turns around and she takes a step back, spitting out a startled, "Wha-what are you doing up so late?" Terry's red rimmed eyes crinkle some as he smiles. He doesn't seem to have his dorky glasses on and is dressed in a long, old-timey striped sleeping gown. "Shouldn't I be asking you that, hun? Are you feeling okay?" She wonders for a moment if her dad had any nicknames for her. Wonders if he would have held her hand or humored her late night questions like this? A little part of herself curls up tightly as she remembers that she got carsick once and he'd slammed the car-door really hard, running off into the nearest gas station to get wipes. Her mom looked mad and worried. They went home in a taxi that day and dad smiled at dinner like nothing happened at all. She'd guessed that's just how dads were meant to be. Smiling at certain times, shouting like a raging thunderstorm other times.
Terry repeats his question in the present and Scary says a "Yeah, I just...yeah, I'm okay. I'm fine. I'm okay." He doesn't question her, only nods with that now more familiar look of concern.
Scary feels the burning urge to ask him more questions again. Except when she tries, he tries to say something too. It all comes out as a jumble of both their words. Both stop, awkwardly looking at each other like two puzzles pieces that don't quite fit together. Terry rubs the back of his neck and pulls out another chair. He offers it to her and puts a nice opaque protective cover over the mirror. Scary looks at the cover, to him, and then sits down. Takes a few little breathes and sips her water. After a few minutes, Terry speaks up again without interruption: "You asked what I was doing before. I was..." He trails off with a small frown and sits down in his chair next to her. The man looks off to the nearest wall and continues speaking. "The mirror was a gift from my step-dad, and I had this dream about him tonight." Terry stops again, brushing some of his dreadlocks out of his face with a sad smile. "A really tough dream and I thought if I came to the mirror maybe..." Scary holds her cup in both hands as she listens. She thinks it sucks that bad dreams are a thing for both teens and adults. The soccer game mega fail dream comes back to her mind again. "...Maybe you'd be less upset about losing?" And she's talking about the game her mind made up to make up for the one she couldn't go to. However, it seems what she said gets to her step-dad anyway. His eyes that are now looking at her again, are wet and vulnerable as he nods. Scary has seen him cry before, over sad commercials or movies or those compilations he's always watching. Yet these tears seem strangely different, something's so raw and lost about them. The urge to put out two fingers and poke his teary eyes comes up suddenly. Her mom says that she has those weird thoughts sometimes too and to not judge herself for having them. She's not sure how to not judge herself yet, but she is getting better at ignoring them or changing them slightly.
Instead of poking him with one hand, she places her cup down on a nearby box and hesitantly offers him her hand. Like how he'd offered his hand to her when she was feeling miserable (and scared, and gross, and--). The self-labeled tough girl adds a soft, "You can't tell Mom about this okay?" as she does it. Terry takes her hand and sniffles again, rubs his eyes and mutters some apology. In the next few minutes, he very quietly explains that yes, he's lost someone very important. And sometimes when you lose someone you look for them in all the familiar places and items they used to hang around. That sometimes doing that can be enough, and on the days when its not enough...in the words of his step-dad: It really fucking sucks.

What do you think about the possibility of El and Will not being exactly twins but half siblings? Maybe Lonnie was in the MK Ultra project for money and had an affair with Terry Ivis, so El was born. His sperm was affected, and Lonnie had another child with Joyce, who was born with repressed/hidden powers (I'm considering Jonathan was already born when Lonnie's balls were chernobyl'd). Then Lonnie took Will to the Lab a feel times for test, but they concluded he was born powerless, because he appeared to be a normal kid.
Upon coming across twelvegate, I did initially go down this rabbit hole! I made a shit-post about the possibility of Lonnie being both Will and El's dad, but more recently I've expanded on that evidence in an ask, discussing why I basically don't think that is the case anymore.
The main thing that makes me so confident about this, is that I'm certain Terry isn't El's 'mama'. Like pretty much 100% certain.
There are a few posts where I discuss this (here, here, here) so definitely check those out if you want a deep dive to better understand where I'm coming from with that claim.
To be fair, I did not subscribe to this up until recently. It was as if my brain blocked me from even merely considering the possibility that Terry isn’t El's mom because of how tragic her whole situation was. And so it felt almost insensitive to even speculate, I guess?
But as of now, after actually going back and watching her scenes for myself, as well as flashbacks featuring her that resurface in future seasons, I think that if anything Lonnie is a roadblock to the truth, in the same sense that Terry is. Because the evidence that Terry isn't El's mom is too alarming to ignore. Like, once you see it, it becomes very obvious they've always been trying to hint this to us, as subtly as possible, and they did it successfully bc it went over everyone's heads.
And so since Terry isn't El's mom, and there are certain details tying Terry to having some sort of connection to Brenner (ie Papa/Mama, Bonsai trees, Hopper's line about Terry's 'relationship' with Brenner), then it's very likely that, in the original timeline/universe or whatever we want to call it, Terry could have worked closely with the lab in some capacity, though ended up supporting Joyce’s claims over allegations about the lab and experimentation, ie. the article at the end of s1 including Joyce/Terry's testimonies. And so she was basically a confidant to them who went against the lab and was lobotomized for it and placed in a scenario that blocked out the truth very conveniently for them, while also essentially punishing her.
And when it comes to Lonnie... That is where it gets very complicated. Because I think it's likely that in the OG timeline, Lonnie was not the greatest guy. I think there was a lot of scary subtext surrounding him harming Will in s1 and it's possible that this dude has been given the role of their father in this timeline, which in the original timeline he is not. He's essentially Stranger Things' very own Biff.
This does make me very intrigued about what is going to be revealed in 'The First Shadow' play coming soon. We're said to get the backstory for not only Joyce and Hopper but also Lonnie and Bob (and Henry) apparently, so that is making for some interesting potential Back to the Future parallels from Marty’s parents’ 1955 timeline vs Willel’s parents’ 1959 timeline. Also the synopsis being young Joyce Maldonado and Jim Hopper dealing with the shadows of the past...
Arguably, it is crunch time. We're approaching the final season and this is a revelation that a lot of the audience are probably not going to be ready for, despite a lot of the hints in the details. I presume they wont have much time in s5 to rehash the mysteries of the past, beyond glossing it over, and so this was honestly a perfect way for them to go back and give context for what is to come in a really unique way that is canon, but without having to cram too much into s5 like they had to for s4.
I do think that Lonnie is very likely to return in s5. Though he referred to Hawkins at its most tame as a hell hole, so idk if he would be running back there during an apocalypse, seeing as everyone else seems to be trying to get out ASAP. It is possible though, and yet I just really don't think his arc is about this series long secret that he is both El and Will's father. If anything I think the revelation is much darker in relation to what truly happened to him and El, possibly in relation to the lab, as he could indeed have been an MKUltra volunteer like you said. It could also help to go read up on some of the cases/allegations put against MKUltra back in the day bc, though it is quite disturbing in parts, it could very well hold the answer to at least some secrets seeing as this is partially based on a real life program that did exist back in the day.
If Lonnie was their dad, I think he would have been a lot more prioritized in the overall story over the seasons, and yet they kind of introduced him in s1 with only a couple references to him in passing since then. If anything it's giving we do not want to give this character too much acknowledgement in the story.
I think a return for him would perhaps look like the storys way of revealing to us that he is not actually their father. Either via flashbacks to the og timeline or perhaps vecna visions at a point when we’re still assuming this is Will’s dad. I do think he very likely is connected to the darker secrets behind what really happened though, related to Will and El's original disappearances, leading up to them in the lab presumably.
I won't claim to understand the memory/time-loop nonsense, because I think that it could also have a lot to do with Will's powers related to time and therefore probability perhaps, which ties really well into the whole X-Men 134 reference. And yet, obviously, I feel like it's too much to try to be certain about which angle go at it, despite having a lot of the pieces to perhaps figure it out? Bc we can guess all day what Will's powers will look like, but we still don't really know for certain? And so going too far beyond that feels like too much guessing to me.
I will say that what makes me even more confident about this theory, even more than the Terry evidence, is just the heaps of evidence connecting Will and El from the very beginning, and how that also connects to Joyce and Hopper more often than not.
If you're open to looking at evidence related to the whole Joyce + Hopper = Willel twins + Jon ? gate (?), or even just how byler also fits into this, bc tbh a lot of the evidence connects, these are a few posts below that might peak your interest. And this isn’t even all of it.
This is the MAIN one so if you read any of them, read this (first and foremost)
Twelvegate Evidence going back to s1 and oh so many unanswered questions
Twelvegate Evidence going back to s1 + Willel Twins
Deer Imagery following The Hoppers/Byers Family
David Harbour cryptically changing his IG pfp to twins, multiple times before S4 dropped:
The fact that Star Wars' big plot twist was that Luke/Leia were twins... That the Duffers are twins... That Noah Schnapp is a twin... 'IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT (MIKE), THEY'RE IDENTICAL'...
El: Me? I'm twice as happy now *cut camera to estranged twin Will opening van door for him and El*
The Wright Bros
Parallels between El being confronted, with Will standing by frozen
"She missed her dad. We all do."
El and Will reuniting at Nina and the remaining timestamp is 12:00
"Mom!"
I will alway say that I am subject to be wrong. The only thing I'm very confident about now is that Terry isn't El's mom, and it just so happens that everything else sort of falls into place after that.

@jaymesdoodles i’m having Thoughts about jewish stampler/marlowe
so like. what if ron’s mom was jewish but willy is a piece of shit so he didn’t let her practice but when ron grew up he met samantha who was jewish and she encouraged him to relearn about his heritage and therefore terry jr would be jewish
and then when terry jr grew up and got married, he also married someone jewish and so scary has been jewish her whole life, and i kind of feel like maybe she’s struggling with that a bit bc of her whole “i’m not like other girls” thing but she still is connected to judaism
maybe she had a soccer themed bat mitzvah….

holding a microphone in the vague direction of your blog , thoughts on taylor and Scarys relationship 🎤 not even necessary romantic (but if you got any 👀) just their dynamic in general
i do like gothweeb!!! however i haven't given the ship too much thought so i will give you some general thoughts :3
for starters they both were raised by single moms ! and they both have abandonment issues :D and they are big on emotional repression :3
i find them so fascinating actually because scary has abandonment issues and she is a big emotional repressor but she doesn't let herself feel HAPPY about things. she doesn't let herself indulge in the positivities and joys of life! and she ESPECIALLY doesn't let anyone get close.
taylor latches onto anyone who'll be near him at all! because he's debilitatingly lonely but he sees everything through an anime rose-tinted lens and believes that it's because he, the protagonist, needs sidekicks, or supporting characters. and he believes that. though deep down it IS because he's lonely!
taylor represses but he doesn't realize it because it's all so deep down and near impossible to dig up. scary on the other hand is somewhat aware of what she's doing but she's not planning on stopping, however her issues are less buried than taylor's and easier to reach, however not necessarily easier to untangle!
scary has abandonment issues which is clear from the get-go. her dad left and she's been waiting for him and she believes that he's someone cool and awesome despite having never met him and it's very clear to see that she's upset at his departure
taylor has abandonment issues that are buried underneath his anime protagonist fantastical coping mechanism of treating life like a shounen anime where a dad leaving to protect a kid is something so selfless and badass and cool and commendable and not at all hurtful to experience! and he remarks how badass it is that nicky left for that reason but like i've said many times before, when scary was trying to please the black parade she commented on nicky going to hell to get away from him and it DOES sting. it does. i believe that deep deep deep deep deep down taylor does have some resentment toward nicky for leaving him! but it's so deep that he doesn't know it at all. and he's just hyped to have a cool as fuck dad!!!
also terri having been best friends with her mom and of course scary has CHANGED but clearly they were extremely close, much like taylor with being a huge mommy's boy and his mom being his favouritest person ever and him wanting nothing but the best for her. and also the fact that taylor was a lonely kid so it was just him and his mom for most of his life ! so they are extremely close
so taylor and scary were both raised by single moms and have abandonment issues because of their dads (and in taylor's case, also his old childhood best friend)
i also find it interesting, the difference between scary's reaction to terry and her mom vs taylor's reaction to willy and his mom. scary hated terry's GUTS and taylor's number one priority was that his mom better be happy and as long as she is then he's happy too
interesting stuff!
i honestly can really see scary actually helping taylor out with the emotional repression stuff, because i think she's closer to acknowledging it than taylor is. he's completely oblivious. and i think that in cases when taylor would feel Anything Negative it would mostly confuse him because literally why . and i can see scary as being one of the first people to help him understand that tbh. especially the abandonment issue stuff. like uh... taylor's dad came back and scary's just fucked off but i can see her helping him accept the fact that he's angry at nicky for leaving, you know?

||Summoning Chaos 6: Demonic blade meets the dark knight||
Hi guys, Peahen mom here. I just finished reading a pretty funny drabble my amazing friend wrote and thanks to that, I have to add to this! So...here's another part! Lets get right into it.
If you wanna know how this started; chapters are under this:
~~Chapters~~
The first incident in NYC
The second Incident In Japan
Spectator notes version part three/Port Mafia incident report
Spectator notes version part four/Tokyo Jujutsu High report
The fifth incident in the Soul Society
((Your reading part six that takes place in Neo Gotham))
||Drabble summary||
It just seems Wyvern can't stop getting into trouble after the recent events that happened and now it has struck in the Soul Society. Now one could be wondering; did it stop? Well....No. Because now it seems Wyvern has started trouble in Neo Gotham. Lets see how the dark knight feels about this?
~~Guests in Drabble~~
The DBT, Van Ink the dragon and her great sword Wyvern belongs to the amazing and super cool friend of mine @demon-blood-youths
Terry Mcginnis a.k.a Batman, Maxine Gibson a.k.a codename Black cat belongs to me and is from the animated show Batman Beyond. Some others will be seen or mentioned in the drabble.
Seems like the DBT has gotten used to the city of Neo Gotham and it seems Terry was happy about it. Seeing and hearing they have really did well but he was unsure about how they been. Shdwkyz seems to be doing just fine too so they were hanging out together. Maxine was talking with Fosh about some new codes and things and the others chatting and eating like nothing was wrong.
"So then I get why you were so busy. Is that what you were saying?" Fosh asked seeing the new program that Maxine nods.
"Yeah! That way, if you need a back up, you can download this if you wish." she smiled as everyone else was happy about it. However, that's when a phone call happened on both Maxine and Fosh's laptops.
"Huh?" The two looks to open it but saw a video call with head chief Barbara Gordan was in her office but she seemed a bit upset about something.
"Ummm, is something wrong miss Commissioner?" Maxine asked.
"You guys need to come to the downtown station..Now." she said with arms crossed but the hackers blinks but looked nervous. "Ummm okay?"
"Oh, and bring Ink with you. I need to talk to her and her fraction as well." she said before ending the call to leave the hackers quiet. Everyone else blinks wondering what was going on.
"Uhhh what's wrong?" Terry asked but Maxine sighed.
"The chief wants all of us at the station like right now.." she said.
"Huh? But why?" Navarro asked.
"I don't know. She seems a bit upset about something but she means everyone..even Ink too." Maxine said as she tense to blink to Shdwkyz look at her.
"Ink.."
"Ummm..I didn't do it? "She said giggling nervous but Shdwkyz sweatdrops before sighing.
"Even so, lets hurry. We shouldn't keep her waiting." Max said seeing everyone getting up to head to the station. Now they were curious to what is happening.
~~~Later that day at the station~~~
Ink was sitting in the chair while seeing the others in shock after being called in a while ago. However, they were not expecting Barbara to be a bit upset while having her arms crossed over her chest. Though, why would she be upset? Well.....
"Okay, I'm going to try to say this as calm as I can..." she said taking a deep breath then speaks: "HOW THE HECK DID ONE SWORD DO ALL THIS DAMAGE IN GOTHAM!?" she said to see Ink tense looking nervous while Sai and Terry blinks to hear this.
"Wait, what do you mean?" he asked but Barbara sighed to look at Terry.
"What do I mean? You mean you haven't heard of the recent reports this week about some demon sword flying around?! I been getting call after call about the same thing: A scary demon sword comes crashing through the streets spreading fear into all!" she said but The DBT, Terry, and Maxine blinks to see her sigh.
"Ummmm...No? I mean, I been busy doing something at the time. I didn't expect anything like that to happen!" Terry said but Barbara sighed.
"If you don't believe me...then look at this." She said seeing one officer walk over with a huge stack of complaints and reports and it was thick! The officer slams it on the desk that it shook startling the group.
"This!" she said hitting the folder, "Is all the reports, work, cases, and other things regarding one thing: THAT SWORD! You can take a look through if you need to." she said as Hellmare did that to open the file and look. She begins showing pictures of destroyed shops, buildings, some streets, even a tower!?"
"Hmmmm...these looks like the same areas we did mission while staying here for a few months to help out." she said camly while Fosh and Maxine looks seeing the damage.
"How the hell!?" Maxine was shocked as Fosh had a deadpanned expression seeing the damaging areas.
"Geez! Not again!" he said but Barbara blinks.
"Wait, again!? this has happened before!" she said.
"Well...yes but not here! It's...How can I explain this? You see, Ink's sword is well....he has a mind of his own and he tends to be a bit.....destructive. He did the same back home, in japan, toyko, yokohoma, and-"
"Now here." she said to look at Navarro who rubs the back of his head.
"And your telling me that Miss Van ink's sword is a living being of it's own that so happens to do all this. How do I know it's not Ink that caused this!?" she said.
"Well, it's not just that! It only happens when Ink tries to summon him!" Maggie said but Barbara was silent.
"........"
"Again, hard to explain." she mutters that the chief pinches the bridge of her nose to try taking this all in before looking at them.
"Uh huh, so this great sword has done all this just by her summoning it or having a mind of it's own. Are you sure about that?" she said.
"Yes!" The DBT said but Barbara sighed.
"So you expect me to believe that her sword did this? The destructive of the buildings, chaos, bad guys running away like girls over a sword?! And now your telling me it is alive!" she said.
"But he is! Look, I can prove it!" Ink said.
"You can't be serious miss van ink." she said.
"No no! It's true just watch!"
"iNK WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" Navarro said trying to stop her but it was too late.
"WYVERN!" she calls out loud for him to hear as Barbara blinks seeing this and the same for Terry and Maxine. The DBT sweatdrops in silence but Ink opens her eyes to look.
"Oh come on! WYVERN!........WYVERN!..." she shook her had but growls to go to the window and open it. "WYVERN, YOU GET OVER HERE RIGHT NOW!! STOP BEING A DUMB BUTT!!" she shouted comically.
'God dang it Ink..' Sai thought shaking his head with a face palm that Terry sweat drops not getting this.
"Does...does she always call her sword like this?" he asked.
"Yeahhhhhhhh......we will explain later." Rust said rubbing the back of his head seeing Ink still calling out for the sword. Barbara sighed waiting to stop.
"Okay, I think I've seen enough. You guys will have to let us take her in. If she did this, she caused a lot of property damage." she said.
"Wait, I'm sure we can talk about this!" Opheila said worried seeing the cops about to arrest Ink until....something loud was heard like something smashing and breaking from outside.
"Huh?"
Everyone looks to see something coming and heading right towards the building. "Uhhhh guys?" Maxine said seeing something sending smoke up to the sky and people shouting and moving.
"IT'S THE DEMON SWORD AGAIN! RUN! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!"
"PLEASE SPARE US MONSTER SWORD! WHAT DID WE DO THIS TIME!!"
"I JUST GOT THIS DAMN WALL FIXED! CURSE YOU DAMN FUCKING SWORD!"
A few people was shouting from the city but everyone looks to the window before seeing something shot past in a loud boom! Wyvern was flying at high speed to the call of it's owner destroying everything in front or breaking it.
"What...is that?!" one cop said.
"It's a sword....and.." the second one said before everyone begins to move.
"It's coming towards the building! EVERYONE GET OUT OF THE WAY!! MOVE MOVE MOVE!" The cops shouted to see it smash through the building causing a large hole as the DBT's eyes widen seeing that.
"WYVERN! NO DON'T DO THAT!-" ink winces hearing more smashing and cars exploding now from the garage down below. Everyone was shocked even Barbara was.
'A sword..wait, they were telling the truth!? What the hell!?' she said in her mind but hearing more police cars being cut or blowing up as she heard cops screaming and ducking as the sword was smashing through.
"RUN AWAY!! GET OUT OF THE WAY!!" Some scream or some duck from the blade to see it going up and breaking through the ceiling heading towards Barbara's office. The whole building shook but before Barbara can ask, a loud smash was heard seeing her desk breaking in half and shredding the document as pieces of paper was flying everywhere.
Wyvern showed up in all his glory. "Dang it Wyvern! I don't get why you do that! Get down here!" she reaches for him only to see him fly towards Ink quickly and smack her in the forehead. "OW!"
"I........." everyone looks to see her arguing with the sword with a swollen lump on her forehead.
"........"
"Her sword is very violent.....that's a lot of damage." Terry said. "Are you guys sure it's not some sword a gang cursed?" he asked but when Sai tries to explain, Wyvern heard that and quickly goes to hit Terry right in the face through a wall.
"TERRY!" Sai and Maxine rushes to see him but saw him knocked out with stars over his head and swirly eyes. He groans but at least he was not dead. "Owwwwwwwwwww......"
"......."
"....O..Okay....I believe you." Barbara said in shock but Fosh sweatdrops.
"I...we will pay for the damages for this. We are soooo sorry ma'am." he said.
"...........You know what? I....I'm at a lost of words here....I...." she held her head to sigh. "I'm getting too old for this." she sweatdrops as Sai tries to wake terry.
"I'M SORRY SAI!! I REALLY REALLY AM SORRY! I DIDN'T KNOW WYVERN WAS GOING TO ATTACK HIM LIKE THAT!" Ink cries worried but Shdwkyz said nothing.
"We really need to be sure you keep him with you at all times...though I don't think he will stop even if we tried anything." Maggie said with the DBT agreeing. However, Sai was quiet to only sigh.
"Ink.."
"Uhhhhh..y...yeah?" she said but Shdwkyz turns ready to bonk her on the head. Yeah..he was a bit upset.
"Uh oh..."
"........."
"N..Now Sai, come on! I'm sorry! I can fix this!" she said backing up with a sweatdrop.
"I'm sure you can...but I just want to talk first." he said but Ink knew better.
"Ummmmm...I have one thing to say." she said but when she takes a breath to speak, she quickly turns to run out the office.
"HEY! GET BACK HERE INK!"
"NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I'M SORRY!! WYVERN IS SORRY!!" she screams running from the phantom slasher.
"WE TOLD YOU TO KEEP THE SWORD WITH YOU! HOW LONG AS THIS BEEN GOING ON!?"
"AGAIN, I CAN'T HELP IT! WYVERN DOES THIS AND I CAN'T STOP HIM FROM DOING THAT! DX"
"THAT'S NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM!!!" he said.
"I'M STILL SORRY! PLEASE I DON'T WANNA GET BONKED ON THE HEAD AGAIN!"
"GET OVER HERE INK!" he said still chasing her.
The DBT, Barbara, and Maxine was seeing this but Fosh shook his head to look and sigh. He got right to work on sending money to pay for the damages within Neo Gotham. Though, he asked.
"Second, how badly are we talking of damages?" he asked but Barbara held a total of damages. When he saw it his eyes widen.
"HOW MUCH!?" he screamed only to fall back and pass out. Yeah, it was a lot. "Fosh!? Hey wake up!" Maggie said as he twitched but Maxine sweatdrops.
'Well...this turned out to be one crazy start of the night.' Max said as the chaos was unfolding. Though, at least Neo Gotham got to meet the demon greatsword of Van ink. Sorta.
Terry Jr for that character ask game ?
Hihihi Aether! Hope you're doing well, lovebird <333
So, Terry Jr. TJ. Teej. *begins weeping*
First impression: A little bit of a brat. Somewhat understandable between juggling teenage angst and adjusting to Ron's, uh, Ron-ness (affectionate <3), but would it kill him to be a little nicer about it? :/
Impression now: THAT'S MY FUCKING SON AND I MISS HIM TERRIBLY!!! So sick and twisted of Anthony to do that to him 😭😭😭 He's been through so much and he just wants to be there for his stepdaughter like his stepfather was there for him and!!!! Dissolves into a puddle of tears.
Favorite moment: Either the entire Thing that was the end of Tower of Terry or when he spotted Scary picking up the lunch he made for her and smiled about it :') I love him so much
Idea for a story: Hhhhhh this is one I've been meaning to actually write for a bit and have talked about a ton on Discord but! AU with seasoned vampire Terry Jr attempting to take fledgling vampire Scary under his wing. Scary is Not Having It, obviously (and is even MORE adamantly against it once she figures out he's coincidentally the new guy her mom's been seeing), but eventually she falls super ill bc she hasn't had blood in awhile and so Terry guiltily takes care of her while she's too out of it to argue. It only further complicates things that they were both Turned by the same man (Willy Stampler, obviously). They end up having a bit of a heart-to-heart on what it is to be a monster and how to live with yourself when you have to kill to stay alive sometimes and when you have the knowledge that you'll outlive everyone you know and love. Terry has no idea if she'll remember any of this conversation once she gets a good day's rest, but it feels like something of a breakthrough to him :')
Unpopular opinion: Hmmm idk the general opinion the fandom has bc it seems like things are mixed rn. The only "unpopular" option that's coming to mind for him right now is him just. Not coming back. But I do want him to come back in some way, so??? Hm. Oh! I think it would be cool if he switched classes between seasons from a caster to more of a fighter - not ONLY would it explain why Anthony is constantly referring to him as a "swordboy" and why he hasn't cast a single spell, it also gives him another parallel with Scary - they have both given up some element of the past selves (Scary, her peppy persona, Terry, his wizardry) in order to pursue what they think will serve them best. Also, it's quite possible that Terry associates his talent for learning magic with his trauma from Faerun and is attempting to distance himself from that (his mother is a therapist, after all, so I think that if one of the kiddads is going to make a single choice in favor of their own mental wellbeing, it's probably him). Anyway. Is this anything.
Favorite relationship: Terry and Scary I think! They just mirror each other in SUCH interesting and complex ways and episode 36 has only further solidified that for me 🥰
Favorite headcanon: Not so much a headcanon as a series of predictions, but I LOVE the idea of Terry coming back as a vampire. I also saw someone mention the possibility of Terry coming back as an Aasimar, which would be soooooo fucking neat, especially since it draws an interesting dichotomy between himself and Nicky. Angel/demon imagery and all that. I can already feel the desire to make Terrick content if that ends up being the case. That said, I hope he comes back and I hope he comes back Wrong :)))
👀 (any dndads au you feel like sharing, lovebird! hope you're having a wonderful day btw 💜💜💜)
Hehehehe HIII HAPPI <3 I am having a wonderful day tysm!! :D I hope you are too <3
I'm trying to think abt if I have any aus that you don't already know about BWCEUAHAHAAH and im not sure how much you know abt the most recent one I've made
OOOH I have got this one fantasy AU I haven't touched in a while but I think would be really fun to revisit sometime! <3
The idea is that there's this ancient curse that's been unleashed on the land creating this magic rot that's slowly been devouring forests, towns, and eventually maybe even whole kingdoms! The rot can overtake animals and people, warping them into dangerous mirrors of their past self, this AU's take on doodlerization. the sauce if you will <3
Taylor is a member of the royal court of the Kingdom of Hell (son of the first prince Nick) and Link is his loyal guard and bestie who keeps him from dying in their shenanigans and escapades. They have a silly goofy, I've known you my whole life and I will die to protect you bc you're the person dearest to me also ur a dumbass who's stupid as fuck, energy going on <3 friends to dumbasses to lovers <3
Normal is a regular villager who recently happened to score an apprenticeship with the castle healer! Apparently his dad knew someone in the court and managed to pull some strings, wonder what that's all about. (spoiler alert: its pretty important and he's also secretly royalty but doesn't know it)
Scary is an amateur witch <3 She saw her mom start dating the castle wizard and was like FUCK THAT GUY AND HIS STUFFY BOOKS. BET I COULD DO THAT BUT BETTER AND COOLER AND LESS NERDY. So she's been sneaking off to practice magic with rudimentary materials and a few nicked things Terry left around their cottage.
Turns out Scary has a natural talent for certain parts of magic because she accidentally stumbles upon a prophecy outlining the world's possible end unless a certain group of people go to the ruins of a lost kingdom to stop the rot. And when she finds out who those people are she's like FUUUUUCK. bc now she's gotta find a way to sneak into the castle to somehow find these losers, one of which is apparently a PRINCE !! and then they've all gotta go out and not die on an adventure or else EVERYONE'S gonna die. and like she can't be bothered but also ig it would be kind of cool to shove it in her stepdad's face that she's more awesome than him and saved the world so. off she goes!
Hermie's the second prince who is often overshadowed by his older half brother. He happens to overhear the group talk about the prophecy around the time they're preparing to leave and tags along to prove his worth to his dads and also have people pay attention for him for once goddamn !!!!! also the healer boy is kinda cute <3
Cue super fun goofy and exciting magical fantasy quest !!! Secrets are revealed! Bonds are formed! Possible corruption? MAYHAPS! Also where even ARE the ruins of the kingdom of Oakvale no one seems to have heard of it at all! All while the rot continues to spread....
#ask#happi-tree#cal rambles#dndads#hehehehe thank you so much for indulging me <3333#i know i took a little bit to respond sorry abt that <- i tried thinking abt aus to talk abt then i fell asleep and had to do hw#you know all my big ones already n lately ive mostly been scheming w/ nyx abt aus so im hesitant to call them my own without mentioning them#so my brain blanked i was like Uh. UH. HEVEGAJAHAHAJA#there are some little fun ideas i plan on elaborating on later i think!! havent told anyone abt em yet so hehe they're some fun bonuses#angel n demon au !! link's an angel taylor's a demon#i was thinking scary could be a fallen angel its just been normal i've been stuck on LMAO#bc i've been thinking abt how fun it is with how link and taylor have p clear angel demon imagery to me#while scary and normal feel more... in between? like yin yang type not all good not all bad#thought it could be fun to play with the idea of. Scary very recently fell as an angel due to Willy's influence#versus Normal who comes from a family of fallen angels ('corrupted' by the Doodler) but is trying to redeem himself and his family as well#with a storyline playing with the concept or morality and clearly defining good and bad with angels and demons#good omens style LMAO <3 Link and Taylor as an angel and demon DO remind me of Crowley and Aziraphale#Demon who's got a little too good of a heart to be evil and an Angel who's a little too much of a bastard to be purely good#ALSO been playing around with the idea of a fae au teheheehe#anyways rhat angel demon one really got away from me LMAO#its been a passing thought these past few days but i havent thought up like an actual plot line just alignments#so i havent mentioned it#WILL GET TO THE OTHER AU ASKS BTW EJWBAHAHAH#im jusy a VERY wordy rambler so it may take some time </3#long post#HELP almost forgot that one#me n my walls of text <3
This is another scary rant but it’s not about last episode, it’s more about how I wish her character arc was going and why I’m disappointed in how it went so far- but Yknow, prefacing it here so you know what it’s about. It’s not hate but more story stuff
I’m gonna preface this with the shocking fact that I actually do like scary. I’ve been going kinda hard on her but like I do like her, she’s just been behaving really rude towards her friends and family and I don’t think that’s a healthy friendship dynamic for any of them. But as a character she’s very fun- it’s the same thing I feel about Ron? Like. He’s fun, but he’s really shitty sometimes and its frustrating. Overall I don’t hate any dndads characters tho!!! I like em all.
I think one of the things that I’m really disappointed about with her character is the way that she’s reacting to her home life situation though. Of course I’m projecting as someone raised by a single mother, but I was SO looking forward to scary getting all ‘I love my mom- we have never needed anybody else growing up, we don’t need anybody now’ and the fact that she’s instead like. ‘My dad left but I bet he was awesome and I wanna find him’ felt like SUCH a missed opportunity. I could’ve connected to her so hard but I hate the choice that her angst is about her dad who’s never been there- rather than the change in what she HAS.
I think that’s also why I like Taylor way more? Like, he had the exact same thing but also you could see his love for his mom above everything else. Like he loves her more than his dad who’s never been there, Yknow? And for scary we could’ve gotten something really strong with the idea of a new step dad coming in to mess everything up. But I don’t actually know why she’s upset at Terry? Her anger and angst keeps coming from the fact her dad was gone and not the new person in her life, which undermines the angst she has imo. I guess it’s just a weird character choice for me- because it makes how she acts towards Terry feel less understandable
In a talking dads Beth said she’s basically ‘looking for trauma to justify her angst’, which makes a lot more sense with her character- but also confirms that she is just angsty to be mad about something? She even expresses she isn’t really happy about her changes- she wants to play soccer again, all that. And so it’s kind of like, she committed so hard to this reaction that isn’t benefiting anybody. I do understand like, maybe she only started thinking about her dad to TRY to justify her angst, because she’s really upset over the big changes- but I guess it just never feels brought up.
I’ve seen her compared to Fig Faeth- but the difference is Fig very intentionally acts out towards ADULTS. She isn’t acting out against her friends in the same way Scary does. It allows her to be nice to her party and create relationships without sacrificing the edge to her personality imo. That said I also think they’re pretty different characters- but I think that’s a good reference to look to.
Scary started off as a character we weren’t really supposed to like. One of the first things she does is compare herself to Anne Frank- that’s how she sets the tone. I guess it’s just that 25 episodes into the podcast I was hoping for more from her character than that. She is set up as an angsty teen who sucks- that’s intentional from Beth, and she does a great job. She’s cutting off other people intentionally, she’s making all of these choices intentionally- she didn’t come in to make a likeable character. She came in with this idea that will develop over time. But so far she hasn’t really gotten that to me- she’s still stayed the same.
I think the reason it’s more important for scary than the others is the basis of her character too! Like. Taylor and Link don’t need heavy development yet because they aren’t negatively impacting the others in the group from it. Normal is developing somewhat, but he’s always kind. The hard thing is playing with a character who’s mean, that can only go on for so long before that genuinely impacts the friendship between characters. It’s very hard for her to bond with the others because even when prompted and reached out to, the character is not accepting those chances.
Scary having her little solo arc I’m hoping will genuinely change her- because I think this needs to happen. She needs to see the consequences of being a jerk to her friends, she needs to see the impact her actions are having, and she needs to see more to Willy so she can trust her friends more. I’m really hoping that Scary actually will let go of those things though and not just double down the moment she gets the tragic backstory she’s looking for. Those are all my thoughts, kinda disconnected lol.
Dungeons and Daddies Monster AU
(Because I'm mentally ill)
The oaks- easy, werewolves obvi. It's about passing a monstrous part of yourself onto your kid. It's about partners marrying into the family and not having this monstrous thing in their veins and it's about love wolves and power wolves. It's about Lark and Sparrow having romulus and remus vibes
Wilson's- okay okay hear me out, Frank built Darryl like Frankenstein, and beyond the dumb name pun it feels good because theres this huge degree of intention in how he raised Darryl that most dads don't have, then the same for darryl, he built grant and blames himself for grant being sad,
Link specifically- grant and marco found lincoln who is something angel adjacent I think, wings, guardianship. Oh oh angel is also good because hes the first in their line who isnt catholic but he is someone who has absolute and total faith in the goodness of others
Stampler's- willy is a shapeshifter, it's about the ability to manipulate people, to be what they want to see so they let him do what he wants, Ron is a shapeshifter too, it's about molding yourself so that others are happy. It's about hiding when you're scared
Terry Sr., Samantha, terry jr.- vampires, for riffing on canon, also for the vibes of ron actually not understanding Terry's needs,
also I like Samantha having become this to be with Terry Sr. And maybe regretting it when he dies because now she's this Forever. And the next guy shes with is someone who meets her where shes at rather than the other way around
Scary- Listen I know this one is sadder than most of these but I want her to be a ghost. I love the concept of a ghost Becoming goth. She has been hurt previously and shes gonna scare away this weird vampire that moved into the house she and her mom are haunting
Close's- fae. Music, drugs, partying. All things in excess especially excess. The way it mirrors their canon lifestyle being a detriment to those around them because once you enter a fae party you never leave. The trickery aspect from bill and Glenn's conman days. The secrets part of fairies, and glenn being so guarded about his deeper feelings
Fosters- listen I KNOW they're already demons and that's very fun but I'm thinking Sirens/mermaids. Not just because I want to see jodie shirtless (I do) but because Music and this almost Little Mermaid-esque theme of denying where you came from for love? Maybe jodie gave up his fins after saving Morgan from a shipwreck! Idk I just also like the implications for Nicky generally. Then Taylor later on having that call to like- nature and the sea. and he ends up being his weird little swashbuckling survivalist self
cal already talked about this in the replies of your post but i was thinking of it too for taylor and his fear being loneliness. because he's popular in the way that everyone knows him and not necessarily everyone talks to him and is his friend. and i think growing up it was kinda just him and his mom and even though he has some sidekicks slash friends now i think that loneliness can still get to him and like. because it was just him and his mom he would DEFINITELY be terrified of anything happening to her. like he loves her and he only ever wants the best for her and i think something horrible happening to her would be his worst fear. also because then he would be all alone cuz he only had her. ykwim??!?!??!????????
idk i just feel so much about it. like im also thinking about how taylor got so upset when his phone died before he could say bye to his mom cuz everyone kept taking his phone etc etc etc he's really very close with her and he loves her dearly and she raised him on her own and he was a lonely kid so losing her is the worst thing that could ever happen and definitely his deepest and worst fear
thats what i think ahlajkajdahha im just rambling
YOURE SO RIGHT BOTH OF YOU ARE SO RIGHT FOR THIS!! Taylor is such an aloof character that characterizing him in these darker sorta scenes and contexts is real difficult for me but at least I know the real Taylorheads in the chat know what tf is up!! i think that he really is a fundamentally lonely person underneath it all and so much of that is reflected in his relationship with his mom.
And this is entirely unrelated but just came to mind bc of the ‘just him and his mom’ thing but it’s SO interesting to see the differences between Taylor and Scary (and Terri!) in their relationships with their moms since they were both raised solely by them. that’s not relevant but it is something im thinking about now.
