Are you staying home from work/school? Yup! My last final is tomorrow (I’m procrastinating rn rip). Luckily, I am able to do my summer research job remotely, so in just over a week I’ll start that

If you’re staying home, who’s there with you? My parents rn and my little brother will be coming home from college soon

Do you have pets to keep you company? My cat! She either completely ignores me or tries to walk all over my papers while I’m studying

Who do you miss the most? My friends!! Everyone had a really busy semester so we had all these fun events planned for right around when quarantine happened. I’m also sad b/c at lot of my friends are graduating this year and I didn’t get to say a proper goodbye to them

When was the last time you left your home? I try to go for a walk everyday to see the baby cows up the road from my house! They are so cute and they run around and play with each other like dogs, I love them

What was the last thing you bought? Starbucks coffees for my mom and I (I was already out to pick up groceries)

Is quarantine driving you insane or are you finally relaxed? INSANE. I kind of relaxed for a bit, but because I was still in classes it was more of ��oh sweet I can sleep and procrastinate all my work”, so I was stressed out but ignoring it

Are you a homebody? Normally yes, but somehow being a homebody is more satisfying when I’m out being busy and can look forward to going home, rather than being stuck here now

What movies have you watched recently? I rewatched The Hunger Games with my friends recently, so we’re going to finish watching the rest of the series together. I’ve also watched a lot of Pixar movies on Disney Plus recently

An event that you were looking forward to that got cancelled? This summer I was supposed to go present at two conferences but both are cancelled or online now

What’s the worst thing that you’ve had to cancel? One of the conferences I mentioned was in Austria and it was going to be sooo exciting :( I was going to spend a week or two in Europe after, my family never went on trips when I was a kid so I was really looking forward to travelling

What’s the best thing you’ve had to cancel? The first week that classes went online I had two group presentations - they were a different kind of stressful but still better than presenting in person in front of the whole class

Do you have any new hobbies? No I’ve been too busy with school (and sleeping)

What are you out of? Hand sanitizer I guess? There’s none at the stores rn, but I don’t really need it anyways b/c I’m staying at home

What music are you listening to? Well the Mamma Mia soundtracks are my comfort music always and the Harry Potter soundtracks for studying. But lately I’ve been listening to Maggie Rogers, Vance Joy, Bleachers, Taylor Swift, Cold War Kids, and Hozier

What shows are you watching? Brooklyn 99 and Schitt’s Creek!

What are you reading? I’ll be putting together my summer reading list once exams are done but here’s a few books I’ll probably read in the next month or so: The Huntress by Kate Quinn, Phantoms in the Brain by VS Ramachandran, Us Against You by Fredrik Backman, and We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

What are you doing for self-care? I’m trying to stay connected to my friends, get my sleep schedule back on track, and deliberately do one nice thing everyday (whether that’s getting a coffee for my mom or sending a thank you email to a prof)

Are you exercising? I go for a walk each day to get out my house and relax. I live in a rural area so there’s lots of nice places to walk (except I live in Canada and have to say hi to every person I walk past)

How’s your toilet paper supply? It’s fine, no one in my family panicked and we’ve just been buying it as we need it

Have you made any changes to your hair during quarantine? No and I’m not planning to haha

Tagged by @queenofthebench! honestly you and i have a lot of similar answers and your answer about birding has got me all excited because i too am an (sorta) avid (or at least enthusiastic) birder! birds have always been one of my favorite animals ever since i was a kid can we just talk about birds all day :D

1. are you named after anyone?

sorta. my mom picked a name that contained a similar sound to her maiden name. 

2. when was the last time you cried?

i teared up just a tiny bit a few times during our wedding reception in december when my dad was giving his toast, and when my lil baby sister played the viola in front of everyone. but i sucked those tears back into my eye because the hell i was gonna ruin my makeup!!!!

3. do you have/want kids?

we don’t really want kids bc it’s just not the lifestyle we want. (but a bunch of doggos? heck yes)

4. do you use sarcasm a lot?

sometimes i think? but only for like comedic purposes; never to be malicious

5. what’s the first thing you notice about people?

whether or not they have a dog

6. what’s your eye color?

brown

7. scary movie or happy ending?

happy ending please!! i used to be a big fan of scary movies when i was a teen but now my old heart (and trouble sleeping as it is) just can’t take it anymore!

i’ve been told my gift wrapping skills are impeccable

decorating (homegoods is my happy place), being out in nature (so hiking, camping, cabin-ing), reading for fun (not looking at you, pile of academic papers!), and watching some good ol netflix

i have 2 mousies named pancake and biscuit!

running netflix marathons. im v good at it

Would criminal and forensic psychologists fall under the category of applied or research psychologists?

hi anon,

you might have missed this in the original ask, forensics is an applied specialty- usually clinical. I don’t really hear of  “criminal” psychologists, but I imagine that would be similar. Definitely not impossible to be an experimental psychologist who focuses on crime or criminals (especially if taking a social or developmental perspective), but being boarded (sort of like certified) as a forensic psychologist requires a clinical or counseling psychology PhD/PsyD.

However, this might vary by country, as @focusedandfearless pointed out in that original ask.
