What distinguishes Daytona Ent from other labels is that they do not want to present themselves as a group or a team, but rather focus on each artist’s individual talents and colors. There will be no group activities like concerts or Dingo Freestyle contents. The reason for this is that artists in labels that do have joint activities, the artists might feel pressured to have to act they like are closer than they actually are.

(In my opinion, that’s a good thing, because the artists can just focus on their music and pick their collaborating artists more freely. I think for Ambition Musik members, it is/was a bit of a struggle how most of them are introverts who only meet few very close friends regularly, but fans expect them to present a happy family, and The Quiett wanted to avoid that pressure for his artists this time.)

The latest update was that two artists who joined the military together will be signed, and it was rumored to be either Skinny Brown and TOIL or Skinny Brown and Jayci yucca, but now only Skinny Brown was revealed, so there might be another artist revealed soon! So far, it’s been about one artist every month, so it might not be too long...

Some of my personal guesses for possible new artists with reasons (I might be wrong but guessing is fun). (As we can see, Daytona artists are all already well-established underground artists who have been making music on their own and not super young (25yo and older), they are not kids who still need to be raised/guided a lot, and that’s the main characteristic I’ll be going with):

TOIL or Jayci yucca, because the article said so :D But for TOIL I thought it’s not so likely because 1) The Q doesn’t like signing producers lol and 2) TOIL has been loving the money, and he won’t have to share that if he stays independent IF IT ISN’T (plot twist) money he got from getting signed haha. For Jayci I’m not sure, he seemed fine releasing tons of albums and MVs independently, but maybe he wouldn’t oppose to signing either. I haven’t seen him working or being in contact with either of the CEOs though.

GI$T/GIST - he’s been around for a while, The Quiett LOVES him and always masters his albums (like he used to for Leella wink wink; GIST is also known as one of The Q’s sons). Gist is very talented at singwriting, singing and rapping (even though he seems to prefer not to rap anymore lately). He’s young but he’s got it all. He has worked with some of the other members before, too. And for a long time, he was rumored most likely to be the next artist to get signed to Ambition.

JAEHA - same actually with the singing and talent, haha. He’s only 17 but a melody genius and people are starting to realize it. He released 2 albums all by himself already and expressed in an interview that all the attention is already too much for him to handle. Now that he’s on HSR, that attention and pressure will even increase, so it would be nice to see him in a label where people take care of things like selling and shipping physical albums, contacting distributors, managing promotions etc, so he can focus on music and school. He might be too young or early in his career, though - it might be a bit weird to get signed (and therefore being on the same level so quickly) to the same label as Futuristic Swaver who is like his role model and mentor, so they might opt against him.

Ourealgoat - what can I say, he’s been working his butt off in 2020 and 2021. He only started rapping in 2018 while he was in the military, then learned producing because beats are expensive, and has been releasing album after album since late 2019. His unique rap style and thoughtful lyrics got him recognized by The Quiett and Yumdda as well as Groovyroom and Jay Park, in my imagination they are fighting over him :D I think he is a candidate for AREA too, but I’d prefer seeing him in Daytona. Even though he fits the “clean”, “good boy” vibe that h1ghr is giving off to me, I think in Daytona he will have more freedom (for example in staying close with his crew, keeping on working primarily with them if the wants that).

Kid Wine. He, too, has been around for a LONG time, is close with Wayside (who have members in both Ambition and Daytona - just look at his album features: they’re almost all wysd members or ppl VERY close to them like D-Hack and Yongyong - and also The Q himself). He’s also known to be one of The Quiett’s “sons” and he’s a producer, rapper, and singer, one of those multi-talented people. He produced Fadeaway, one of last year’s top hits.

ChaMane. Actually, I don’t know him well, I only discovered him quite recently. I found him on a list for The Q’s sons so that’s why he’s here :D He was on Raphouse on Air recently and has worked with Kid Wine and GIST, and The Q too but that’s a while ago.

- I don’t really know where to look for KHH rumors in Korean, and there is nothing in English, so maybe I’m overseeing some obvious candidates. These are just some of my faves who I happened to have been following closely enough to make these kind of connections :D If anyone wants to discuss, please do!

Druck is objectively better than all remakes at making a pointed effort to do better with their pic reps. They actually take in the feedback of their audience and try to execute a better product. There are problems with druck and 80% of it is the fandom. Ofc all remakes have issues tho, so ppl should chill. Druck fans unapologetically shit on other remakes while, wtfock fans and skam fr fans have the courtesy of slyly getting their digs in there. It's quite amusing to watch from the sidelines

this is super long but for you anon.

So I think we need to look at these three remakes as what I call the og period and the original period because they do change alot once they get more freedom some for the absolute worse. Ok so lets talk first about the OG periods. To be perfectly honest s1 in all these remakes are just ok. Jana & Jens are a bit unbearable but Jana as a whole is fine and am happy she doesnt end up with Jens. Same with Hanna and Jonas they aren’t unbearable per-say but I am also not gushing over them but I do like Jonas being a heart throb music man sometimes but once again they dont burn into my core but am happy they reunite. Love Emma and love Yann just not together its that simple. S2 is where we really start to see the difference. Charles is the devil so I hate skamfr s2 and like really Manon stays with him??? ughh why?? Daphne is right at almost bursting into laughter when he talks about doing philanthropy. Ok bruh....sure. Winterberg is fine I dont hate them and I dont love them they are just okay to me. S2 happens to be wtfock best season so its kinda hard to stack them up because this is the best they ever looked. All of the s3 for all these remakes are good. To say they aren’t would just be nonsense some are better then others but all are above average. Now S4....... well well well. What can we say the elusive goldstar Sana season is yet to be made (I will say the script for Italia s4 is fantastic, THE SCRIPT).

Skamfr s4 was a mess and ridiculous and Druck’s s4 was lazy and harbored accents of prejudice all over it.Both seasons undercut their woc and both miss the opportunity to write deep meaningful stories that explored the societal struggles of muslim women. Skamfr s4 just happened to really just shows us their colors but honestly am not shocked this is skam the micro racist decisions are all over the verse. TBD on yasmina season.

NOW......this all changes when we talk about the original seasons because this is when we see the shows on their own and also we get to see if they have been listening and absorbing the fan commentary or not. So let’s get the obvious out of the way wtFOCK was an absolute mess and maybe the worse season ever created in the skamverse the only thing that made that season even slightly bearable was the Moyo arc which I hear it actually continues in s5 so in a weird way s4 is actually about Moyo since his story continues but we already know thats only because if the fans saw Kato on the screen for a matters of seconds the volcano of hate would explode. I despise how Noa has become the pseudo main of s4 but didnt get the credit. It kills me they did this to him. Maining Romi is the worse mistake ever made by any remake and thats just fact. Now do I want to see a newgen out of wtfock? hmmmm ask me after s5 but am leaning towards probably not but am on the fence. Now skamfr .....let me say this one thing skam fr is nothing without their cast. Talk about fucking talent. Those kids can act their ass off but their writing is atrocious. s5 could have been good they had all the ingredients but the writers bomb it. S6 once again flavie amazing the writing a shit show. S7 lucie was amazing the writing was better but still needs work I think it pretty obvious skam fr is going to step into the thunderdome and finally do what no skam has done before and main bilal but should I really applaud it taking 8 seasons and 35 plus skamverse seasons to get here??? Probably not, but since no one else is gonna pull the trigger I wish them well and at least skamfr listen and lamifex is super rich in diversity and they are honestly a fabulous newgen. They are such a ridiculous squad but god I love them and Jo is an angel. Please please skamfr please write a good story for a brown boy I beg of you!!! Now druck s5 all I can say is Bravo!! If skamfr is their cast then Druck is their writers. That s5 season is a fucking beast. Thats how you write an original skam season. They also listen the cast is super diverse. The girl squad feels natural and their age I actually like that the insta squad are problematic as fuck and happen to be queer. Like just cause your a gay baby doesnt mean you arent an ass. s6 for me personally was ok maybe its unfair of me but I expect amazing writing out of druck and s6 to me was not their best. It could have been amazing they touched so many topics but never deeply explored them and I wanted more for fatou. Also def got the vibes at the end they were panicking on who to main next season so everyone got a little plot thread but that also distracted me from fatou but I love the Mailin plot it was really smart and done well. I didnt hate her but boy did she bug the shit out me.That how you write modern day racism and white privilege. I just wish Ava’s plot was spread more onto fatou they were moments but i wanted more. So I guess I do think out of the original seasons druck s5 is the best. Nora being white didnt matter because she was written well but i do think Tiff being the main out of skamfr wasnt the best choice but then seeing Lucie act am like ok i get it but honestly I expect that from that cast they can all kill it so why not let someone else be the main and not tiff. BTW druck’s cast is good too I just dont think they are as good as the skamfr cast on the acting front but they are some members that are very very good. Like you said because Druck does listen I hope they listen to the honest criticism of s6. I know some people are like its the best ever but like its not....am sorry s5 was way better then s6 and that makes me sad because i want my black girl magic.... I do expect s7 to be good because when the writers for druck have the room to take their time they always kill it but I also feel like they are about to pull a Tiff on us and main Ismail(plus constantine as the side plot) but if I trust anyone with not fucking it up its them. Concerning the fandoms I live off tag and I do that for a reason. The fandom tags are alot but the druck one is almost hostile and honestly you would love the show more if you didnt interact with it. The skamfr tag is hilarious because they are no anti’s its just a bunch of arm chair critics making memes at how ridiculous the frenchies are but in away it makes the remake super fun because no one cares anymore. The wtfock tag has really high highs and really insane lows. When its low its really low so I have decided to live off tag. For those who haven’t..... god speed. Your brave souls!!

[ he is a very, very minor NPC that i’ve essentially wrested from the game with my grubby hands; Gerson is a merchant NPC found in Waterfall, the third area of the game focused with water themes. he has less than 100 lines of dialogue (but jam-packed full of info) and doesn’t even have an overworld sprite. although noted to have a history with multiple major characters, it’s not often i’ve seen him be the main focus of any fanfics or art pieces. ]

Is your character considered hot™ in the fandom? YES / NO / IDK. [ put that faaaaaaaar away from me please tyty ]

Is your character considered strong in the fandom? YES / NO / IDK. [ i personally believe that Gerson is a strong and potentially powerful monster with fighting capability that could rival some of the stronger Monsters in the Underground due to his background as a fighter during the Human-Monster War, but since has waned in both reputation and fighting skill. we never fight him in game and as such, will never see how he compares numerically, but it’s clear from his dialogue that he knows how to fight professionally/cleverly and would have given a hard challenge. ]

Are they underrated? YES / NO / IDK. [ i mentioned before that Gerson has ties with lots of major characters - I hardly see it being put into action or talked about! i also have a soft spot for elder/older characters in general since they seem to be overlooked in favor for younger characters that carry the action of plots - which I understand and totally get, but I still like to put these characters out there for the sake of it ]

Were they relevant for the main story? YES / NO.

Were they relevant for the main character? YES / NO / THEY’RE THE PROTAG. [ he was a funny merchant dude that said “wahaha” a whole bunch of times and carried a magnifying glass; sure he and Frisk would have been good friends after the golden ending but most people have forgotten about their interaction with Gerson once out of Waterfall ]

Are they widely known in their world? YES / NO. [ as one of the older if not oldest Monsters in the Underground, or from his reputation as the “Hammer of Justice” from wartime. he is also a historian and is noted to have written a few of the books in the Librarby. definitely known in the Underground, but probably only in that community ]

How’s their reputation? GOOD / BAD / NEUTRAL. [ as mentioned before, a benefactor to the community and maybe even a sagely figure. a source of wisdom (even if cheeky) and a person of stability ]

How strictly do you follow canon? — ehhhhhhhhhh both extremely canon compliant and then hands off the wheel, let jesus drive me away~ i only have so much canon material to work with so i have milked as much as offered to me, then went off to forge my own path in order to patch up the missing holes then add a few sprinkles. the base of the character is all there, but if you really want to get invested with him (or me) then we have a lot to walk through.

Aka try to list everything, which makes your muse interesting in your opinion to make them spicy for your mutuals. — old tortoise (NOT TURTLE) guy sells knick-knacks and cracks jokes, knows everyone’s dirty secrets but thinks they’re just funny to think about them than use them. an elder in the community who has stories to tell and lessons to teach, who has lived through half of recorded history and now spends his time just trying to make things around him interesting. a war veteran who protects his community and understands the horror of the world, but keeps eyes looking into the future even in the face of grimness itself. plays the accordion and harmonica, could probably square dance if he knew what that was. will call you kiddo.

Now the OPPOSITE, list everything why your muse could not be so interesting (even if you may not agree, what does the fandom perhaps think?). — little to no motivation to find a passion for himself that would benefit or service just himself; his entire sense of worth comes from servicing others in some way (being a soldier and protecting people; recording history in order to teach future generations; maintaining a shop in order to literally service others) and lack of action due to decrepitude in old age. close-minded compared to other Monsters, as he doesn’t actually take to think of humans or outsiders kindly; judgmental to the point of being racist. proud and dislikes being one-upped that it could lead to pettiness, and despite his positive outlooks, very pessimistic worldview.

What inspired you to rp your muse? — funfact: Gerson is my first tumblr RP muse ever, and since i was worried about duplicate anxiety when i first started i specifically wrote him since he was a smaller character with less attention - i’ve since learned i have no anxiety about it so it’s no longer a problem, but what keeps me going today is the challenge of writing someone so different from me. the elder aesthetic along with homely, almost cottagecore kind of vibe is also appealing, and the humor that comes with gerson is a joy to write out.

What keeps your inspiration going? — reading literature, music, artwork, pinterest, replaying the game, and doing little hobbies that would embody the character (collecting or sewing, for example) are things i can do by myself, but with other people i have the most drive when i can have friendly and nonpersonal arguments/debates about character motives or about source material like what made a character act like this or that, or about really anything as long as it makes me seriously think about characters critically and force me to recognize flaws.

Do you think you give your character justice? YES / NO / I SINCERELY HOPE I DO? [ unfortunately i’m not a tortoise monster who lived for probably centuries if not decades older than myself, but i enjoy writing older characters and hope that other ppl see the potential gerson has like i do ]

Do you frequently write headcanons? YES / NO / SORT OF? [ you know when you have a concept and in your own mind you can see it clearly, without fuzziness or confusion, but you can’t seem to put it clearly into words without it turning into an essay because you need to connect all the other points that’s in the single concept you envisioned? yea. ]

Do you sometimes write drabbles? YES / NO [ bro i should.. ]

Do you think a lot about your Muse during the day? YES / NO [ hmu if you got pinterest and i’ll give u tons and tons of boards ]

[ this is unfair to answer as (AFAIK) i am the only person writing Gerson in... any capacity. despite that i like to think i bring out the humorous side of him, and show ppl that he and other NPCs are tons of potentials and shouldn’t be overlooked because they aren’t popular ]

[ i always believed my style and my skill in not only PSDs or aesthetics, but analysis or understanding was always a bit plain, without much flourish or complexity. while that is appealing on its own and has its own merits, i can’t help but feel i can always push myself to do a little more, add a little flavor, or paint an image that could only be done in writing. although i am doing enough to get the job done, i’m searching for a certain voice of writing that i like and want to integrate into creative writing in order to make it more personalized and more engaging. ]

Are you a sensitive person? YES / NO. / SORTA. [ i despise pussyfooting and will often tell ppl straight up if i have a problem with them or something about them; straightforwardness, honesty, and integrity are some of my core values and that includes being harsh if it comes to it in order to keep order ]

Do you accept criticism well about your portrayal? — assuming it’s rooted in goodwill or from a point of analysis, absolutely! it’s one of the direct sources for growth and getting better at any craft, but as Tumblr loves to be.... jumpy, i’m always cautious when its not from someone i know.

Do you like questions, which help you explore your character? — YEA BUDDYYYYY

If someone disagrees to a headcanon of yours, do you want to know why? — absolutely, i thrive off friendly discourse as i mentioned.

If someone disagrees with your portrayal, how would you take it? — if we don’t discuss it as above, in lit any other case i’d say “well there are other blogs to follow” but since i’m like 99% sure i’m the only gerson blog that isn’t applicable lmao; the point still stands that everyone has the freedom to write a character as they wish. there are valid reasons to dislike a portayal but not a lot of valid reasons to attack someone for it - with the exception of ppl being gross. stop that, nasty.

If someone really hates your character, how do you take it? — strangely. it’s not my job to make people like a character, you either like them or not. if you dislike them for unreasonable points then, to leave in the previous response, “clowns will be clowns, no matter what you do. I just don’t get why you would follow someone if you hate their character to begin with.”

Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors? — of course, as long as it’s polite and all that jazz!

Do you think you are easy going as a mun? — depends on the meaning - i like making new friends and i find it easy to talk to new people, be it about roleplay or other things like organizing video game play sessions. however, i also have on multiple occasions have approached ppl privately saying “this is annoying/this is problematic/this is inappropriate, stop” and been met with general disdain for voicing such so Who Knows..... (tm). at least on a private level. here, publicly, i’m pretty relaxed! memes and jokes are abound. as long as a person can be mature and responsible for their actions we can vibe, yo.

i said i would elaborate on my thoughts/lore i guess re: dragons n shapeshifted (humanoid) forms and like.. social rules and whatnot around all that.... and then i wrote a ridiculous amount of notes abt the whole thing, oops.

separated into key sections but still very rambly and stream-of-thought overall, bc, when do i not type..... weird. words are eternally difficult for me and thoughts are a struggle to articulate, but i hope any of this.. makes sense? obviously this is largely abt my own clan/dragons/headspace/etc and not like. headcanons about other ppl’s stuff in general or anything like that haha. this is a LOT to read thru so if u actually go thru the whole thing a) wow thank u so much wtf b) perhaps give it a like so i know how u feel. not required but very very appreciated. :^) also deep apology to anyone for whom the read more breaks or something, oh god.

a tl;dr/basic overview

everyone can shift to humanoid/gijinka/person-shaped forms, differing based on their actual look as a dragon

most day-to-day life within the clan is in shifted forms, partly bc of Convenience, partly bc there’s a lot of Social Rules abt being on relatively equal footing w/ one another and keeping things fair and whatnot

using your dragon form to hurt not-dragon form people or even using it to harm smaller dragons is considered a terrible crime, and harming others while they’re mid-transformation is considered the ultimate taboo.

shifting 101:

everybody can shift between dragon/humanoid (gijinka.. however u wanna word this.... yall know what i Mean) form w/ different results--some more dragon-looking and/or generally monstrous, some looking fairly normal/basically like People, But In Rainbow Colors And With Horns. some may keep tails and/or wings or other things like that, but that isn’t especially common

smaller breeds tend to be shorter, bigger breeds tend to be taller, but there are exceptions & outliers!

shifted forms tend to be pretty 'set' for most dragons, all obviously dependent on their looks as an actual dragon. their shifted form reflects their dragon form, and they can't make drastic changes to their form like changing entire facial structure/shape or body type or overall coloring. however, dragons with stronger magic abilities/connections/powers/etc usually tend to have more freedom of their own form and may be able to change certain features at will--not entire faces or body shapes, but things like hair, nails, sometimes even patterns from genes (esp. tert genes)

dragons that are like, deity level or otherwise some sort of not-entirely/not-actually-a-dragon all-powerful creature or w/e usually have MUCH more freedom to change their form completely, if they so choose.

transformation is at will (and cant be done or undone unconsciously... ie a sleeping-in-shifted-form person is Not gonna turn back into dragon form in their sleep) and happens fairly quick for most, usually no long&slow weird animorph-esque thing, though it isn't all in a flash either--usually! once again on the "dragons with More/Better Magic Skillz" concept, a very magic-powerful dragon can usually shift much quicker than others. a "finger snap puff of smoke boom you're done" level of speed is Very Rare, but not unheard of. dragons who are either very young or simply not very talented w/ magic may take longer than others. the largest & smallest breeds also take a bit longer due to having to shrink down/size up every time. all this said, it never takes more than like, 15-20 seconds at Most, and even that range is considered Very Slow. it’s a short window, generally!

things like injury or sickness can make shifting difficult, but typically only like........... basically if you're literally dying you're probably not gonna be able to do it. having a broken leg or the flu shouldn't impact ability much, but bleeding out in the boneyard? ain't gonna make it work, buddy.

idk how clothes work lmfao. they just shift with the dragon i guess? sure. let's go with that. all clothes are magic now. i don't think EVERYTHING through, ok?

ok cool but Why Shift:

shifted forms make for much easier living-together-in-a-big-clan, especially in situations (like my own clan itself) where everyone lives in, y'know, buildings. houses and castles and churches and whatnot. it takes a lot more effort and resources and whatnot to build a house big enough for imperials to comfortably live in in dragon form than it does to just build a regular-sized house that a spiral & a ridgeback both can settle into & live comfortably in in shifted form or smth, yknow. it’s easier to accommodate people than dragons!

communication & relationships can also be easier to deal with if you are all Relatively Close to the same size range. less leaning down or flying up to try and talk to your friend/coworker/partner/rival/whatever. part of this is also influenced by The Rules About Being On An Even Playing Field We Will Get To In A Moment

for many dragons its just easier to do things like art, music, crafting, writing, or working w/ small & delicate things, etc etc when you have proper hands and lot funky dragon claws. much of the more mundane reasons for these forms is just For Convenience's Sake!

that said, obvs. certain things are easier/preferred to stay in dragon form to do--traveling, for one, since, y'know, Dragons Can Fly, Usually. hunting & gathering is usually done in dragon form as well, though not 100% of the time. maybe u want to be a big and powerful dragon to go take down wild animals for food but just like, chill out w ur buds in person-shape to go have a relaxing fishing trip by the lake. it's up 2 u really.

sometimes dragon forms are preferred for fighting in general, esp against beasts, or if you are a lone dragon trying to protect yourself from threats, etc. in the case of smaller breeds especially, they can also be preferred for making a quick escape instead! (sometimes this is seen as Cowardly to do, but yknow, it’s an Option.)

aaaaaaand now we can get to The Rules which is where things become less abt convenience & common sense and more about my own........... we can call it lore? i guess? sure. it's lore. ok.

The Rules:

all the "for convenience" reasons aside, there are many largely unspoken but VERY important social rules regarding shifting and when you "should" or "should not" be in which form. within my clan/characters/headspace/etc etc it's all just sort of a known thing/smth ur raised knowing, there isn't like, an actual rulebook or smth anyone has to figure out.

much of these rules are about being on an equal playing field, both socially & in battle. the social rules are much more important & strict within clan living areas, ie. the walls of cities and whatnot. things can get more loose & informal if ur like, out travelling thru the wasteland or wilds or whatever.

it's considered VERY rude to enter/generally be inside buildings in dragon form, usually, unless you're just like... popping in real quick to deliver smth or say hi or whatever.. and you can fit inside said building... and know the ppl there and whatnot... etc...... if you dragon out while already inside somewhere that's usually seen as like, a threat of some sort. due to how much construction & architecture & living spaces are shaped and whatnot, it's deemed unnecessary to bother with dragon forms inside the clan's walls in general, but especially within buildings, bc jesus christ dude ur gonna hit the ceiling or break stuff with your wings or something. be polite.

social interaction in general, esp. when Formal or in work/work-like settings, is seen as something usually meant more for shifted forms... some dragons who are very close, ie family & mates, can be fine in dragon form around each other, bc of the mix of informality & Trust. typically, if you want to have a conversation with someone and Not be seen as impolite or even hostile, shifted form is key. this falls back very much to the fact that dragons come in such VASTLY different sizes, from imps down to faes, and it's seen as unfair and often threatening to present oneself as a giant monster to whom others have to talk to, or as a tiny little creature either down on the floor or flitting around the room. shifted forms have about as much height/size variance as we do as humans, which can be A Lot, and some individuals can be even smaller or bigger than regular people bc Hey Its Fantasy, but generally speaking no People-Shaped height difference is going to be as crazy as dragons' can be.

basically, if you walk into the throne room or the church or anywhere Important & Protected and you're not in shifted form, you WILL be seen as either physically threatening the leadership or as an extremely arrogant & disrespectful fool. walking into shops/businesses in general as a dragon makes you look like you're trying to like, rob the place or smth. even just moving about the streets of the town as a dragon is weird, rude, and will make people uneasy. not to mention it’s potentially destructive!

everything comes back to the idea of being relatively similar in size/shape, in being close enough to equal in ability, strength, weakness, etc, barring the obvious difference that yes some people are stronger/more trained than others, some better at magic, etc etc. it's all about fairness!

this is all MOST IMPORTANT when it comes to FIGHTING........ bc obviously a very large dragon can just squish the bones of a very tiny dragon like nothing...... things like formal duels etc everyone knows OF COURSE this meant for shifted form, it's just an inherently known thing. if u fight with honor u fight shifted.

this even extends to the point that outside city walls, if someone's going to pick a fight with you, you Should still be duking it out in shifted form. it's such an important & revered rule that it's even usual for bandits and such out on the roads to attack travelers while in their own shifted forms. only the worst of all criminals cross the line--from the average petty thief & pickpocket up to professional hitmen and honorable assassins, it's rare to see even career rulebreakers break these rules. it’s That Serious

using your dragon form to attack someone who's shifted is seen as like, a completely horrifying and heinous thing to do, a sign of true cruelty and mercilessness. using your dragon form to escape from people is often seen as a cowardly and weak thing to do, unless ofc ur just like, small and afraid and get fuckin jumped by some big tuff dudes, yknow. being in a real & honorable battle means fighting in your shifted form.

the Ultimate Taboo however is hurting--especially killing--someone while they're mid-transformation, due to the fact that the process--while, as stated previously, is Very Short--leaves someone completely vulnerable and unable to defend themselves. transformation takes focus and action, and you can't really attack or dodge or anything while changing from form to form. the strength and speed and complete lack of hesitation required to end someone's life in the small window of time that it takes to shift is a terrifying thing to behold. killing someone midshift while in your own shifted form is especially weird & scary and means everyone is going to be afraid of you forever, basically, because. dude. holy fuck. how & WHY did you do that.

obviously the Normal reaction that Nice & Good dragons feel knowing someone who has crossed that particular line is, yknow, fear and resentment and seeing them as someone who is heartless and completely evil and terrible. to be avoided at all costs, if not outright arrested and executed for such a thing, in other places where ppl are like. ultimately good & caring abt one another and whatnot. but that ain't my clan babey!

aaaaaand finally a wrap-up w a lil bit abt my clan full of shitty devil babies and how these rules impact their lives hehehe

though the clan is VERY strict abt the larger social rules regarding shifted forms vs. dragon forms, thats more for formality's sake & a part of the clan's entire thing of being like........... full of/ruled by morally bankrupt weirdos and villains and chaotic neutrals mostly And Yet all putting on the show & appearance of being honorable high-status nobles & academics and whatnot. among the court in particular it's all Very Important bc everyone has to behave like stuffy uptight formal folk very often. also their section of the clan home is like, a very compact city w/ narrow streets and stuff, so obviously no one Can just. walk around as a big giant dragon.

a few examples of dragons Breaking The Rules in more 'minor' ways include: -outlaw, who has absolutely 0 issue using the small size of his spiral form to break into houses & businesses and steal shit, or using it to slip away from authority figures and zip off and fly outta there. or to just be able to hide from authorities more easily. -fissure, one of the kings, a guardian, will occasionally use his dragon form as a threat display if anyone shows too much hostility towards his clan. threaten him and his people and he WILL threaten you back big time. -silhouette, royal guard captain, also a guardian, will do the same thing, though she reserves that for people found along the outskirts of the city walls. -sepulcher takes things the other way around--he enjoys the challenge of fighting&killing things 100x his size and if a dragon tries to harm him when he's in his shifted form he gets VERY excited!!!!!

the 2 worst culprits confirmed so far are the high priest, leader of the clan, scary rotten plague cult wyrmwound-worshipping bastard himself, fhtagn......... and the friendly, chatty, fashionable tailor, needle.

the skull mask fhtagn wears is fashioned from the skull of a half-transformed dragon. to have not only crossed the line of killing a dragon mid-shift but to wear a part of them as one's most striking attire that they're never seen without is a truly terrifying sight to behold for most... those of kinder hearts than this clan would see him for the disgusting & dishonorable bastard he is because of that alone, but the clan members--especially the church, of course--revere him for this. fear & horror go hand in hand with love & adoration among the congregation, so of course they love their mercilessly masked priest.

needle does not allow too many people to get a good look at his "trophy room" but it is... certainly something to behold. stitched & stuffed bodies of people killed mid-shift make up his favorite taxidermy collection, and he likes to think of this as.. some form of art. though very private about it, he's still fiercely proud of his collection. go out and bring him such a body yourself for him to work on and he'll love you forever!

Ok, maybe this will be a little mean but can someone....tell native english speakers that no one cares about jap sub vs eng dub discourse except themselves? Like, they are sooo tiring and at the end of the day it's just a matter of personal preference... The people who feel superior for watching subs are dumb/pretentious and I won't defend them, but also some of the arguments in favor of dubs kinda make me salty bc they come from a place of such privilege, like "some people don't like reading subtitles" or "some people prefer consuming media in their own language", and yeah i'm not saying they aren't valid but it's obvious those things only apply to english speakers bc the rest of the world does not have the freedom to choose most of the time. This is speacially bad outside of anime, like what happened with Parasite. So many entitled americans bitching about having to see a foreign film.....s h u t u p

4. do you think its ok to separate the artist from the art?

Oh, this is a complex one. I think it depends on the situation. You always have to think critically of the media you consume, specially if the person who created it ended up being an asshole. Mostly because their ideology could be inside that media in a subliminal way, or you could end up supporting them without wanting to. I also think it's important to look at time periods. Personally I don't believe it's bad to, for example, read a book from a problematic author who has been dead for 200 years, it's not like your purchase will give them any money lol and at the end of the day pretty much all authors from other centuries have been some kind of -ist or -phobic 🤷🏻‍♀️ If the author is alive then that's a different story. Supporting artists who are well known for being horrible or, even worse, excusing their actions is not something I condone. You can always find a way of consuming their media without giving them money if you really want to (pirating is a good option :p). So yeah, I'm not gonna be policing ppl and telling them what they can or cannot like, but all of this is somethins I take into consideration while consuming media myself (for example, JK Rowling's stupidity and hatefulness these recent years have killed the little love I had left for HP...)

So...any dog? How could I choose between so many good boys? Well, i'll say Black Hayate for fictional dog, and Maya (mayapolarbear on IG) for irl dog bc I love her.

11. what unusual talent do you have?

Well, my friends used to say I could "speak whale" like in Finding Nemo bc I can deepen my voice a lot. I also can bend my fingers in a really weird way (my fingers are the only flexible part of my body). I think my most useful talent is being able to "drag" my writing while making papers/essays/etc in a believable way, so I can say something in 20 words while other people say it in 5, it comes in handy.

12. what's the most interesting schools gossip you've ever heard?

Oh boy, there were some wild rumors at my school. I think the one that caugh my attention the most was one about some girl a year older than me being pregnant. The thing is, whe didn't know who it was bc people were just saying "they say a girl from senior year is pregnant", so everyone was desperate to know lmao I don't know how that ended up....now that I think about it that was fucked up, if it was true then poor girl.

Also, we had a literature teacher who was really strict and had a pretty peculiar personality. People used to say she was going to get married but her fiancee abandoned her (like, her tragic backstory and reason for being like that), it was probably false 🤣

Also in elementary school there were a lot of rumors about the statues in our church "crying blood" while no one was watching. This became so widespread that the director made a speech confirming it was false and said we should not be spreading such blasphemous things.....catholic schools really are something else.

This horrible situation we are all in, honestly. I just want things to go back to normal but that won’t happen if people keep being selfish and governments keep caring more about economy than people’s lifes :/ Apart from that, i’m pretty ok with my life? I still haven’t achieved much but I don’t want to rush things, I have time.

Unpopular opinions part two🤪

1. Old Kpop fans deserve their respect.

They were here before it was ‘cool’ or ‘normal’ for them to like Korean pop. Before it was accepted. Before the ‘Korean wave’ was a thing. They were here before Vlive, world tours and merch. They were here and have watched many idols go to the millitray, multiple scandals and disbandments. Pls be aware of how young you are as a fan to the entire industry as a whole. Esp since it was prob an elder Kpop fan that put you on and made the fan culture was it is today: more accessible to fans all over the world.

2. A lot of the hype in America for Kpop isn’t genuine....

The shows that include BTS and stuff only did it to get a boost in ratings. If you honestly think Ellen and John Cena are armys....I got some bad news for you. It’s literally just white men at board meetings looking at what teenagers think is hot at the moment. Also, if you honestly think BTS was gonna get that Grammy.....sis no. Maybe in the future but like Kpop isn’t recognized as ‘real’ music yet.

3. Big Bangs’ Top needs to come back.

His scandal wasn’t even that bad tbh. He smoked some weed with a one of his bitches🤷🏻‍♀️ his name literally stands for ‘The Orginal Pimp’. Like we know he had hoes, just like any other famous guy idol. And she was a total social climber who tried to defame him, this was proven by the outrageous things she did after the TOP scandal calmed down. So all the bad things she said about him should be taken with a grain of salt. Personally, weed isn’t a big deal esp since we apparently got rapists out here now👀 but in Korea it is a big deal. Still he reflected and has been quiet for like 2 years now. How long should he punish himself for? He was one of the best rappers out here🤧😩

4. The big three are the big three for a reason.

SM, JYP and YG are some of the oldest companies that have been around with the most distinct style and influence. The amount of revolutionary groups to come from those companies alone is i n s a n e. Being the big three isn’t about money, so ppl saying BigHit outsold so them so they are bigger than the three, is just wrong. The big three have been doing this consistently before some of you hoes were even born and produced amazing groups over and over again. BigHit’s success is new, and they only have one big and successful group at the moment. Give it some time🤷🏻‍♀️

5. Fan service is a thing.....just thought you should know

In Korea, idols are taught to please their fans by any means necessary......this includes acting very cutesy and clingy with certain members. Yes.....some of your opts are for show.....they know what they’re doing.....😬

6. BlackPink’s Jennie was being lazy

Sis......you’re a whole barrel of laughs if you honestly think that we’re all just haters who decided to attack her out of the blue. When she was being dragged for her rude faces, I defended her bc some resting faces are just naturally aloof looking. But c’mon. Y’all really trying to play the mental health excuse or the tired excuse when all her solo activities actually had energy??? It’s rude bc all her members actually pulled through🤷🏻‍♀️ no hate to her but sis was lacking🤷🏻‍♀️

7. Some Ideal Types are kinda.....weird? Idk lemme explain

I know that having an ideal type is kind of a given in Korea but can we talk?? I think the whole descriptions of the the types given by some of these idols is kinda.....VERY FUCKING DETAILED? Like the weight and stuff. And no hate, it’s okay to have a preference but I wanna talk to some of these fans. I literally watched some fans change their entire persona for their bias. My sister even tried starving herself for a bit bc someone said Taehyung perfered girls who were like 90-100 pounds. Please guys, don’t take that stuff to heart......

8. Facemasks literally don’t do anything

Not necessarily Kpop but Kbeauty. Ummm....dermatologists even admit that it doesn’t do anything to your skin. It can make ur skin feel nice for a short period, but in the long run you are actually doing more harm than good to your skin......just think about that next time you wanna buy a facemask.

9. Be careful with Kbeauty.....there’s a fine line to walk

If your eyeliner is meant to make your eyes look Asian.....it’s cultural appropriation. If you’re using bb cream or foundation that’s way lighter than your actual skin.......that’s colorism. Also trying to give yourself aeygo bags is kinda fetishizing a feature that many Asians have. Just don’t. Work with what you have instead of tryna became a whole other race. 🤦🏻‍♀️

10. AOMG should become the new YG

YG is so fucking problematic these days, it’s sad really bc they were that one company that was all about hip hop and ‘dark’ concepts. I think they were even called the black label out of the big three 🤔 so they are def taking a hit with all these scandals they got rn. I got to thinking....what other company is all about hip hop and more rap driven whilst having a good management/ceo? AOMG! Jay Park is literally so nice and all the artists under them have so much creative freedom and make good music. If Jay Park made a boy group or a girl group?? It’d be fucking over for YG! Y’all should blow up Jay Parks dm’s and ask for a group debut 🤪

S3 Rewatch - Episode 3 - Vendredi 21h36 - “Pas forcément une meuf”

And we are dropped right in the middle of the action, sound like a bass drop after the buildup of the previous clip, after a brief shot of the lit up foyer from outside (lol so not discrete guys) with a little powerpoint zoom effect on the timestamp. It works to immediately immerse us in the wild feeling of the party - everyone dancing, the angles askew, the lights flashing and swirling. Three things. First, Arthur looks hella fly in his James Bond tux, class act, hope we see that side of him again in his season. Second, how good must it have felt for Imane to be able to wear her headscarf in school like she wants but can’t do bc of messed up laws ? Also - the girl dressed as a whole ass shower with curtain and ring is a f*cking Legend she should pop up in fics more. Like the level of extra - why a shower ? Who even does that ? did she ever think about how complicated it would be for her to get away if they got caught ? Nope, she did it all for the Drama. She heard ‘Infiltration’ theme (so like, being discrete and shit) and she went and got the most out there costume she could find. Respect. Also I saw someone in a penguin onesie lmaoooo.

Basile wants to vomit and we really needed to know that, I guess. Alexia has such BDE casually dropping the whole ‘oh yeah that cute girl that looked at me flirtily is my ex, paws off and yeah i have much more game than you also bye’ at Basile. And the way she casually comes out to her boyfriend and orders him to get her a drink as soon as he gets weird. Because she acts as if she is entitled to a normal reaction (and she is!!!) and anything else is annoying. I love her. Her boyfriend doesn’t deserve her. The painted wall behind them looks so cool. Then another hilarious instance of Daphy freaking out over rules even if she’s basically the biggest rule breaker since she started this, Imane protecting Daphy from Basile being yikes, again being the friend who does the Most, and we cut to Chloé dissing the music. Lucas asks her if she listens to Jul (an extremely lame white French rapper) which is hilarious - it’s a ‘as if you’re any better’ covert dig. And then it turns out that she does listen to music Lucas likes and the best part ? He doesn’t even care. He wants nothing in common with her. He listens to dubstep now and he’s gonna like it even if it’s atrocious. He’d rather be with Eliott and listen to annoying music than to be without him (foreshadowing!!!!). He doesn’t give a shit about Chloé and her snobbish ways. Also there is a sun projected on the wall behind Lucas (symbolism !!!) Meanwhile Mika in his metallic silver suit and rainbow shirt is being super extra and kissing boys without a care in the world, and the way Chloé talks about him is dripping with condescension - ‘did he get the wrong party’ as if everyone is not being over the top anyway, or talking abt gay men as if they’re party accessories. Alexia correcting her feels fitting - Eliott in this clip is all about being mysterious and witholding so it’s okay he’s not the one doing that even if him correcting prejudice would have been awesome. I just don’t quite see Eliott standing up for himself in the way Even did. He’s always so much more nervous when it comes to talking.

The music then goes “oh oh” as Eliott arrives, as if on cue. Like hiding-in-plain-sight camo for Lucas, the fact that the mask is actually blocking out his face physically is very fitting (beyond looking hot as fuck) - like Eliott’s tendency to actually disappear and hide when shit gets rough. Also sorry but Lucille looks gorgeous right there - they both do. The petty “salut, mec” - l e g e n d a r y. I remember how we all thought that Eliott was going to be super sad and down after Lucas shooting him down and there he is, all smoldering ! I love that he’s never doing the expected thing. He’s sensitive, yeah, but he can be hella bold too. Eliott doesn’t even respond to Chloé and challenges Lucas with his super expressive downright bedroom-y eyes. Lucas looks so pissed off and overwhelmed and done and turned on at the same time. Like how did Chloé not notice anything, she really is next-level oblivious. Bubbles are floating around them, I love that, works with the ‘brief bubble’ they find themselves in later.

I think we wrote entire dissertations about their remake of the ‘Call Your Girlfriend” moment - how much longer it was and felt like an entire conversation. It left me so wired and breathless after I saw it. Eliott’s little “okay we can play that game” smug smirk, open mouthed kiss, jumping in sync with Lucille, both of them looking so cool together like college kids do to high schoolers, all easy grace and racy confidence, and those neon rings around their necks like fallen haloes - whereas Lucas looks like he’s just bumbling around and smashing his face on Chloé’s clumsily out of sheer nerves and annoyance and jealousy. Lucas staring angrily at Eliott who seems absorbed in kissing Lucille and having fun without him for a moment. And then. And then. We can see Eliott pivot and the white of his eyes as they open towards Lucas. He’s staring back ! This is the first moment that we, and Lucas, unequivocally know he wants him back. It’s a culmination of three frustrating weeks of them running after and dancing around each other. But finally, there is absolutely zero misinterpretation possible. And after that, the kissing slows down, it feels like they’re both floating, and as they close their eyes - Lucas especially - we just know that they’re picturing kissing each other instead. Like for a moment, they’re caught in a trance together, in this moment of confirmation, of stolen bliss, of revelation. And bam ! Lights back on and it’s extra brutal compared to OG because it’s not just a random cut, it’s the janitor and they’re in actual danger of being found out, it adds to the ‘caught in the act’ tension. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

And then they run, and they find each other. Eliott just grinning and thriving in the general chaos is so funny. Another reason why the forbidden party thing is awesome - in the panic, their first reflex is to look for each other, and that is very revelatory of their priorities, but it also gives them the freedom to leave together unnoticed. Eliott walking Lucas home gives us those romcom sweetheart vibes. and it’s so. obvious. subtletly whomst ? Lucas keeps having to make the choice of following Eliott - and I love that Eliott is giving him these choices, it’s a way for him to progressively ease into choosing Eliott entirely.

Canal St-Martin ! I’ve been there ! It’s very cute and romantic ! Then we have the conversation of absolutely Unsubtle Fishing. I love that they keep giving each other outs - to protect each other and their own hearts, to make it easy so they can deny if they need to (so it’s serious with this gf ? so you it’s really hot between you and this Chloé - lol Eliott you know it’s not - ? so you don’t want to be in a couple ? ) and just. NOT. TAKING. THEM. And being like no Chloé is too much it’s annoying, no my couple with Lucille is coming to an end, no bitch it’s you I want !!!!! It’s that reciprocal dance they do, Lucas tentatively coming out of his shell, Eliott giving him time but also making it easier for him (and more enthralling lol). But I did NOT expect Eliott to come out like that. Like ! I was in the tram when I watched this lol (I was still not aware of the importance of Vendredis back then) and. i. just yelped out loud like a moron lmaooo. I wanted to cheer him on like he was a football player that just scored. It’s just such bi/pan goals in particular to come out like that, so nonchalantly, because you’re so easily assumed to be straight and it’s kind of a pleasure to turn ppl’s expectations around, but it demands a certain level of confidence. I love how the music rises and it goes in a second from ‘friends hanging together all casual like’ to ‘yeah they want to jump each other’s bones’. Daaaaamn Manon.

This clip is just so thrilling. Last Vendredi was the wonder of discovery but all very uncertain - this is confirmation that the special someone likes you back, and it’s such a high, they transcribe it so wellllllll.

because i am so much in my kang daniel feels im just gonna rant here lol

it really hurts when i see ppl say that daniel doesn’t care for fans or he’s just in the idol industry for money and only cares for them. i know it’s jUsT kPoP but it still hurts, ya know? obviously i don’t know the man personally but he is one out of like 3 idols who i think their on camera personality very close to their off camera personality. yes, i know that he did wrong during produce 101 and cheated but he paid the penalty for it. he had hashtags trended to kick him off the show, that were included in tweets full of hate towards him. he did not try to hide his wrong doings, despite not being allowed to use SNS (even though he used it in the first place lol) he apologized for his actions and accepted the punishment for it. daniel is obviously not a picture perfect person, he makes mistakes and has his own flaws but what i admire a lot about him is his strive to do good. no matter what, he always takes it upon himself to personally apologize or acknowledge for whatever damage he has caused to his fans. i really do believe he has a kind heart... he always does donations. he’s donated to children funds 34 times last year. you can say it’s just to save face but you cannot deny that his public donations hasn’t affected his fans. his fandom has donated a great number as well, to many different organizations. even just recently his fans have donated his solo debut albums to various blood donation sites to attract people to go donate blood in return for an album when a fan commented that they were going through a period of depression, he related to her by telling them has has also has similar feelings and encouraged them to not isolate themselves and to reach out to close family and friends and seek help through them. i really just don’t see how ppl are saying he’s in it for the money and only see his fans as ATMs???? he’s used his own money to start up his one man company and he could’ve easily created two versions of his album to make twice as much money like swings was doing with wanna one but he has one single version. he discourages fans from making donations in his name, because he said he will do it himself. as of being managed by himself, he doesn’t allow gifts at fansigns other than letters and accepts cute heandbands and stuff only for photos and then returns them to the fans. i just don’t see how ppl are saying he wants the money when the only way you can give money to him is by buying his album which is completely up to you.

and seeing him get so much hate because he didn’t attend wanna one’s little reunion wdewsedw even if he did attend he would get sworn at and be told he’s ignoring the fans’ feelings after the news of him and jihyo dating broke despite the fact he wrong a heartfelt letter about the situation... all those articles have headlines with past information. everyone knows that in the past, during his lawsuit with LM he changed numbers and stopped contacting close friends as much as, because he didn’t want to have them dragged into the mess with LM and didn’t want to have them possibly hurt in it. so yeah, he did stop contacting the wanna one members. but since the issue with LM is over, thats in the past. baejin literally said like 2 weeks ago that him and daniel are still in very close contact and they he’s still active in the wanna one group chat. whatever reason he didn’t attend the little reunion, i have no doubt that the group members themselves were aware and spoke it out.

at this point, all the people who bashed him for being a school drop out, for coming from a poor background and for coming from a divorced family are just back to shit on him again except this time ifans are feeding off whatever negative things they say, and rolling with it to hate on him too so he’s getting hate from both sides for no real reason. its sad.

also i forgot to say that guanlin’s situation is similar to daniel’s but it really isn’t the same. cube more than likely isn’t going to try to drag guanlin back in court after this lawsuit, cube isn’t working with journalist to drag guanlin’s name into dangerous scandals, guanlin still has access to and clearly had freedom to his instagram account that was created under cube’s management, chances of cube pulling strings to have guanlin blacklisted is slim to none and cube definitely aren’t going to attempt to trademark his literal legal name. these are all things that daniel faced in his situation with LM so yeah its similar but really isn’t the same

hailing from tokyo, japan, leo was born to a prominent businessman and the manager of an international hotel chain. he lived an incredibly privileged life, but with that privilege came a stringent set of expectations that covered basically every aspect of leo’s life, from his future to his hobbies to his friends. leo’s life was planned to follow a tidy trajectory: he’d succeed academically, attend a prestigious university, then return to take over his father’s business.

leo was an incredibly fortunate kid, for innumerable reasons. he never wanted for anything (physically, at least), and was given the best of the best - with the expectation that he would reflect his means, of course. but he also never really had a childhood. his parents treated him more like a successor than a son, to put it generously. there was no love in leo’s childhood home; his mother spent most of her time traveling to the various resort properties she managed, and his father, in his loneliness, found refuge in another woman. they were, for all intents and purposes, a farce of a family. but that was all leo knew.

but it isn’t until college that the plot begins to thicken. leo attended the university of southern california, and man. america was an eye opener for him.

for the first time, he was able to explore life beyond his parents’ domineering control. he could try out new interests - like the video games his freshman year roommate was really into - and speak to new people - like people who pursued higher-risk occupations for the love, not the money. leo fell in love with writing poetry, and had the opportunity to do the stupid things that his parents disapproved of - like writing dumb raps, for one. he kissed people. he found something like a family. this really strained his relationship with his parents, a complication exacerbated by certain developments back home: namely, increased pressure caused by the rollout of an ambitious expansion plan for the company.

leo graduated college with one conviction: fuck the trajectory. leo’s life in america was the first thing he actually built for himself (kinda, mostly, if u ignore the fact that his family bankrolled his education LMAO) and he wasn’t ready to give it up. he’d been given a taste of freedom, and he wasn’t gonna let it go.

now

leo’s been,, making it work, surprisingly. his parents have threatened to cut him off if he doesn’t return to japan at the end of the year, but joke’s on them - his current job, translating japanese video games into english for a fairly prolific studio, sponsors his visa and pays him well enough to survive in los angeles, albeit much more frugally than he’s used to. he knows that he’s being humored, that they’re waiting for him to live out his rebellious phase and go home. but he knows for a fact that he’d rather exist in a perpetual cycle of existential doubt than return to the misery that’s his life in japan.

seriously, his entire post-grad life has been dedicated to “finding himself,” usually through increasingly ridiculous hobbies. some highlights have included photography (not terrible), glassblowing (absolutely disastrous), dj-ing (the less said, the better), yoga (surprisingly successful), and pottery (consistently lopsided, but not altogether hideous). the one thing he always comes back to, though, is spoken word and rap - the latter of which he releases online to a small but actually existent following.

his deposit for his room in the fold was the first purchase he made on his own!! he appreciates the social nature of co-living. it’s interesting, because leo is one of the most outgoing residents of the complex, but also one of the most notoriously private. he’s made it a point to share very little about his personal life and history, deflecting any genuine attempts to get to know him with some well-timed hijinks.

leo’s birth name is uotani ryousei. leo is the americanized pronunciation of his childhood nickname, ryou, and aster is his mother’s maiden name. he started going by leo when he moved to the states for college, and started using aster when he decided to pursue full financial independence.

leo’s rap name is leo astra, bc he thinks he’s witty. i hc his vc as rich brian,, so,, yea lmao.

his mbti is entp and his alignment is chaotic good!

That last episode of AHKJ: Exiled was really awesome and cool, but it’s also left me with a few more questions that go unanswered so now i’m just kinda sitting here pondering it all like

Anyway if any of my followers want to hear me ramble on about the fucking lemurs from one of Madagascar’s spin off show click that read more link.

Okay so like one thing that’s developed into a theory early on for me is that I’m pretty fucking sure King Julien is a Demigod. Let me explain why. So like I know cartoon logic is a thing and all but throughout the show Julien relies a lot on luck, he does posses a niche skill set and is able to fight, but he does so rarely. Most of his antics, is pure luck. He’s more lucky than any other character in the show though, I know he’s the main character and all but like, there’s something off about his levels of luck. Furthermore he seems to be aware of his luck, as he often doesn’t worry too much about danger, leaving it up to “the sky gods” and “Frank” to decide his fate. Given the show up until this point I’m going to have to side with him that yeah, he really doesn’t have to worry. Now he mostly can’t just sit still and be fine, he does have to at least dodge and be active, (of which. KJ is very agile and i’d add that to his list of skill sets, though he is a lemur so it’s a given he’s able to duck and weave around a lot of obstacles with ease) but for the most part as long as he’s trying to save his own skin or help others he’s going to be okay because yes, he is apparently blessed by the sky gods. The main reason why I believe he is a Demigod is because he has been chosen by the sky gods to be the new king to replace the previous King Julien (Whom was Current Julien’s uncle so to avoid confusion the show, and I, will use “Uncle KJ” when talking about him.) The history of the Julien Kings have proven that all of them haven’t seemed to be very faithful or good leaders. Uncle is a tyrant who kept the ppl miserable and dull, living in fear of the Foosa, something we were introduced to on the first few episodes. Later on we learn about other Kings such as King Julien the Terrible who turned his people into slaves. and hell even KJ’s own parents are complete douche’s who don’t care for their people. Julien was different though, he was the first King to actually care about his people. Sure he’s reckless, takes awhile to realize danger and caused a few accidents here and there but overall KJ has been the best King to take the crown to date in the Lemur Kingdom. The Sky Gods were probably watching him and just waiting for that faithful day when Masucoura (sorry if I butcher some names) would scare Uncle into giving Julien the Crown. She probably knew that the King wouldn’t get eaten, and she put in motion whatever plans Frank and the Sky Gods had for Julien. Taking the crown from his uncle and not dying, meant Julien didn’t have to give it back when his uncle returned, and thus he remained the King. Following this he liberated his people from the Foosa, and has since went on to make history for his Kingdom. The Fact that Julien doesn’t die from a lot of things he should though is because of that goddamn luck of the Sky Gods, they want him to be king! He only gets a battle scar from the Foosa, they do things like strike lighting when it’s convenient, have a sacrificial Balloon fall just when Julien needs it to, etc. They are sending him signs that they are watching over him and he’s damn well aware of it by now and is taking advantage of it. He even made reference himself that they didn’t need to worry during the war because “The Sky God are giving us luck right now!” This is only part of the evidence that he’s a Demigod though. Given his knowledge of his luck I don’t believe King Julien is actually aware of the power he possesses. The thing that stands out the most to me that Julien was chosen to be this Demigod is the fact he has canonically, DIED, and come back to life MULTIPLE TIMES, not to mention was allowed to fight for his life on trial one of those times and was granted life again once he proved that he truly does care for his people, even the one’s he’s accidentally killed. While he may coward out when the chips are down, when the problem is actually serious and Julien must act on his own he will. He tossed himself out of a blimp to fix the issue that was preventing take off, dangerous but he did it - he went after a monster in a sub, or what he thought was a monster though, by himself, to get his friends back. One of the time’s he died was a willing sacrifice to save his friends. Julien, if it’s the only option, will lie down his own life for his people, (he offered a few times to give himself up to Koto and other times when his capture would result in freedom for his people from more minor Villians) and that is what the Sky Gods need in a true leader. A king. Julien fits the bill.

But wait we’re not done here though, outside of his insane luck which Is actually not luck but his blessing from the Sky Gods, Julien does have some fighting skills of his own. He’s actually able to be quite bad ass if the moment calls for it, and a lot of it though I heavily head canon is based in his ability to dance. He needs a beat to unlock his true potential which explains why a lot of the times he sits on the side lines and has either Clover (usually) or the Gods do the work for him. But that first goddamn episode, He kicked some Foosa ass with the power of music. He has skill. He’s done it a few more times too with his own beats. It actually makes me angry they didn’t write him fighting more often because Julien CAN fight, and I wanted to see more of it. He pulled off a few punches and took out some mountain lemurs in a small clip from the final battle, and that was fucking awesome! Did I mention Julien is actually really smart though too? Well clever. He’s very dumb when it comes to some basic stuff, social skills, etc, but when it comes to things like, escaping capture or out thinking his enemies hes damn good at that too. He’s very sneaky when he wants to be and skilled at manipulating other people. I’m convinced he’s the type who’s just playing stupid so that people never expect more from him, so that when he does more, it’s a surprise and gives him the advantage. That said though, no he really is stupid in regards to being self-centered and arrogant and doesn’t know what half the bullshit he says actually means though lol. Its a fair trade off. Okay so like going back to my main issue with the final episode that caught my eye and makes me go HMMM and ties into the Demigod theory. Julien accidentally killed Koto by dropping the rocks from the statue on him once Sage had defeated him (the whole Exiled arc really does wonders for Sage as a character too btw and I now love him as a result.) and I would also like to point out Julien has only ever killed accidentally but that’s a subject for another rant - anyway at the end when they pointed out the ghosts were also celebrating - Koto’s ghost appeared with the rest of the ghosts, but these ghosts were only the ghosts from “Frank-ra-lah” (Their version of heaven). Julien clearly stated that him not seeing Maurcie’s ghost when he was on trail and saw these other ghosts, must of meant he thought Maurice was in their version of hell, (it’s never named, just referenced as “the other place” and a dramatic shot of ground) so therefore, Koto was sent to heaven even after all his wrong doings and misdeeds, and this just makes NO sense to me because Koto was evil right? He did bad things. He took over the kingdom caused lots of people to die, etc. What fucked me up the most is King Julien saw his ghost and the two made eye contact and... Nodded and smiled at each other? FUCKING NODDED AND SMILED? AS IF, TO SAY, A JOB WELL DONE? I guess it could of been seen as Koto’s very honor-bound and just saying “you were a worthy foe, Julien” but the fact Koto’s ghost is in Heaven, makes me think... Was it all a test? Was this SET UP? Sure Karl mentioned he set the whole invasion up but did he really? I think he’s lying about some things and I’ll see more about that when finishing up the main show, as he said he’s not finished yet, but I don’t think this was Karl’s doing. I truly honestly think this was the Sky God’s testing Julien. The ultimate test, to see if he’s really fit to be a ruler. Koto was a ploy by the Sky Gods and served his purpose well that’s why he was let into heaven. And I almost feel like, given the fact Julien nodded back in response? It’s like he realized? He knows it was a test and he passed. He’s finally (maybe?) aware of his status/relation to the Sky Gods? And like it makes a whole lot of sense though given that Julien’s people were finally willing to put their lives down for him the same he would for them? They accepted him as the one true king of Madagascar. THIS WAS ALL A TEST, AND HE PASSED, AND I JUST- Listen, Marty, Alex, Gloria and Melman really didn’t know what the FUCK they were getting involved with when they washed up on the shore of Madagascar is all I’m saying.

“一石を投じる” literally t/l to “throwing a stone” i.e. to make ripples; so to make wave is a bit more dramatic. But you get the idea - it’s to challenge the norm, to make an impact, to disturb minds in a meaningful way

“身を削る” literally t/l to “chip/carve the body” so it’s like painfully and slowly damaging your body bit by bit.

“この身一つ” means “this one body”, but also implies only the physical body, without worldly materials, relatives, social status, etc. In this context it implies you can’t bring anything with you when you die.

“身を削り” pls refer to t/l note (2)

“傷の舐め合い”, licking each other’s wounds, is a metaphor for pitying each other and comforting each other. (explaining in case ppl don’t use this expression much)

“開眼する” means opening eyes, but also means eye-opening ie enlightenment/ spiritual awakening. “涙雨” literally t/l to “tear rain”, and it does not only means light rain but also “rain falling as if in sympathy with people who are in sorrow”. It is beautiful how this sentence could mean both “rain falls from open eyes” and the meta “tears of compassion falls from my eyes at my sudden realization of people’s suffering in this world”. I personally feel that it’s a sort of religious imagery, just like how Mary would cry for the sins and sufferings of humans.

“今に見とけ” is what people say to opponent，something like “say your prayers/just so you wait/ prepare your ass to be kicked”

new year, new me (for real this time)

2017 was absolutely the worst year of my life. But I have this weirdly strong gut feeling that 2018 will be a pivotal moment for me, and honestly I’ve never gone into a new year with this much optimism and willingness to grow and change. Here’s a long ass post for me to list out all the shit I want to work on and to just get all the clutter out of my head. This is the first time I’ve really set new year’s resolutions so yay me.

~2018 Resolutions~

1. Be healthier physically and mentally

Try to go to bed 1 am at the latest or get at least 7 hours of sleep.

No more binge eating vending machine snacks to replace meals.

tbh exercise is not realistic, but at least try not to be sitting 24/7 aka get off yo ass!!

Work on self-love. Put in the effort to dress nice so you feel more confident about yourself. Take more photos and maybe even post them on social media instead of being so hypercritical of your body.

But also it’s okay to be ugly?? Your worth is not tied to your beauty, and fuck a society that pressures women to be “beautiful” 24/7.

Remove the internalized shame you have against being sexually active (with yourself and with others), esp as a woman. You probably won’t be ready for the idea of casual sex. So first work on confronting your sexual trauma, getting over your trust issues, and trying to love your body the way it is. Maybe try masturbation as a solution towards healing your unhealthy relationship with sex??

Be better about self-reflection and capturing memories both good and bad (maybe actually commit to journaling for once) Allow yourself to feel things and talk about your emotions with others.

Develop healthier coping mechanisms when you’re having bad mental health days.

Animals give you so much sheer joy, so find a way to reintroduce animals in your life now that Izzie is gone. Maybe volunteer at the Humane Society. Being around animals will do wonders for your mental health.

2. Improve your social life

Be more involved SOCIALLY in clubs. Yes, you have a bunch of board positions and help w logistics and programming, but actually make an effort to socialize with the people in your clubs.

Tell your social anxiety to CHILL THE FUCK OUT. People don’t hate you. Branch out and make friends.

But also be a better friend to the ones you do have. Also stop being such a passive friend. Ask your friends to hang out, facetime, grab a meal, watch a movie, etc. Make a list of fun activities to do with friends!!

Fuck. Cishet. Boys. They are the biggest reason you’re as fucked up as you are right now, so you really need to take a break. Stop seeking validation from them and love your-fucking-self.

Instead, be more gay!! #happy20gayteen

But actually tho. You finally having the freedom to explore your queer identity. You’re not tied down by an unhealthy relationship and you’re an out and proud bi girl (at least in college). Find your queer community because THOSE ARE YOUR PEOPLE.

Stop obsessing over the idea of being in a relationship. That’s been your unhealthy security blanket for 3-4 fucking years and you need to learn how to love yourself independent of being in a relationship. Plus, you’re in such a shitty shape that it just wouldn’t be fair for anyone to date you rn. Stop being a hot mess and then just let a relationship come to you. If it happens it happens, and if it doesn’t, wait till there’s actually a decent dating pool when you move back to the west coast LOL.

3. Get your academic shit together. Plan for your future career/life.

Officially decided not to transfer. But be careful about falling into periods of depression. Try to not just survive, but find ways to be genuinely happy at Colby. Be productive, but in a healthy way.

Fuck grades. Learn for the sake of learning.

But also learn how to be a good student just to build good work habits. (buy the Forest study app since you’re highly motivated to help others and the planet more than you are helping yourself lmao... fight climate change while studying to fight climate change!!!!)

On that note, don’t skip class. It only makes you fall behind and anxious about your teachers hating you. (newsflash: they don’t!!)

Develop better relationships with teachers, don’t be afraid to interact with them just because they’re an authority figure.

Be the good student that you know you are. Don’t be afraid of failure or looking dumb. Participate in class! Ask those stupid questions! Get help when you need it!

Get back into reading and then take notes on significant findings/quotes cause you know your ADHD brain will forget. You got a nook and made a book list on goodreads, so that’s a good first step!

Create more content (photos, videos, documentaries, podcasts, make a list of projects you want to work on)

Watch more content (documentaries, maybe podcasts, and also tv shows/movies for fun)

Also clean up your personal blog, your tag system is a hOt mEsS

Continue learning more about environmental justice, sustainable agriculture, and food sovereignty.

Last year you definitely avoided red meat, but this year commit to 100% cutting out red meat and reducing your consumption of meat in general (esp when it is not responsibly sourced). Instead, eat sustainable seafood whenever possible.

Pay more attention to where you’re spending money and think about who you’re choosing to support with your dollar (maybe log your purchases and also learn how to budget?)

Continue reconnecting with your korean heritage. Learn the history, listen to korean music, possibly even learn the language. Keep talking about korean shit w korean ppl.

Don’t forget to apply for internships/summer programs, because you don’t want to be stuck with your family again for the entire summer. Maybe try to live in a city by yourself, or get away from your family/hometown in general.

Marinette puts down her sketch book. “Let’s go to the store.”

Adrien looks up from his laptop in surprise. “What?”

She’s gotten used to weekends with Adrien. He doesn’t expect her to look nice or even all that presentable, and she doesn’t expect him to, they just sit on the couch or in the kitchen and do their own thing. Adrien usually works, because he literally never stops working, and Marinette designs. She forces him to watch her favorite shows with her, even if it means that she has to explain to him who every single character is and the entire plot. In return, he’s managed to get her to watch some of his favorite movies. He randomly shows up throughout the week if he needs something from her kitchen because he always seems to be short something. Marinette is genuinely considering giving him a key to her apartment. Even if it’s just so he can steal from her fridge and cabinets.

“The store.” She pulls her hair up into a messy bun and grabs her purse off the back of her chair.

Adrien stares at her like she’s grown another head.

“You don’t have to come if you don’t want, but if you need anything, you should.” She gestures toward the door.

“What do you need?” he asks, apparently having found his voice.

“Fabric,” she says, ticking things off on her fingers, “some thread, ribbon, watercolor paper, brush markers if they have any, and pizza.”

He laughs and runs his hands through his hair. “I do like pizza.”

Marinette picks up her keys. “So are you coming? Because if you aren’t I should probably kick you out.”

“What?” Adrien asks as he stands. “You don’t trust me?”

“You might steal my Jagged Stone poster,” she says with a shrug of her shoulder.

“Fair enough.” He pulls on his coat. “Show me the way.”

Marinette opts to walk to most of the stores. She asks Adrien if he minds and he just shakes his head and pulls his phone out of his pocket, sending a few quick texts as they make their way down the stairs and out of the apartment building.

“Where are we going exactly?” Adrien asks, pulling the door open.

“Fabric store first,” Marinette says, stuffing her phone into her purse.

He raises an eyebrow. “Don’t you have fabric at work?”

“Yes, but you’re missing the point— turn here. I don’t have fabric at home. At work, I do stuff for the head designer and my boss. I have much more creative freedom when I’m at home.”

“Huh.” Adrien flips his phone over in his hand. “Interesting. I know nothing about fashion so…”

Marinette smiles. “I sort of figured.”

He shrugs. “I don’t know much about how any sort of normal jobs work. I’ve got it relatively easy.”

“Working from your apartment and living off of take out?” she asks innocently.

Adrien rolls his eyes. “Yes exactly.”

Marinette elbows him lightly. “You’re very lucky you have me to teach you how to bake.”

It’s a nice day, not too hot and not too cold, without too many people walking around the streets. She finds herself wishing that she had more free time to spend outside, that she still had a balcony like she did when she was growing up. She misses having time to herself, where she could garden and sit outside and sew. It’s too nice to be stuck inside all the time.

Adrien accuses her of taking the long way and she doesn’t defend herself.

She holds the door open for Adrien when they get to the store, letting the far too cold airconditioning billow out onto the sidewalk.

Adrien wanders around in a sort of daze as Marinette pulls out her sketchbook and meticulously looks for the exact shade of blue that she needs.

“You needed ribbon?” Adrien asks, suddenly popping out of nowhere.

Marinette squeaks and jumps back with a start, dropping her sketchbook in surprise.

“Sorry about that,” he says sheepishly before bending over to pick up her sketchbook. He hands it back to her, rubbing the back of his neck. “Didn’t mean to frighten you.”

She takes a few deep breaths before taking the sketchbook from him. “It’s fine, you just surprised me. Easy to do when I’m concentrating.”

“What are you looking for?” Adrien asks, leaning closer, tilting his head to look at the page she has her sketchbook flipped open to.

“A blue,” Marinette murmurs, pointing to a swatch of fabric she stole from work and taped onto the page. “I mean obviously I have a type of fabric in my mind, I’m just really desperate for this shade of blue because—” Well…she doesn’t actually have a reason. She’s just attached. And that’s silly.

Adrien hums to himself. “Okay,” he says after a moment. And then he vanishes into another aisle.

Marinette stares at the space he was occupying for a long moment before shrugging and moving on. She decides she’ll find the blue later and starts looking for white lining. She pulls a bolt from the shelf, feeling the fabric between her fingers. It’s a little heavier than she would like, but if she can’t find anything else, she can make it work.

Adrien steps out from around the corner. “Would this work?” he asks, holding out a bolt of blue fabric.

Marinette blinks and takes it from him, running her fingers over the satin-like fabric. “This is…this is perfect, actually.”

He shrugs and puts his hands in his pockets. “I have a lot of experience with lots of types of fabrics.” He ignores the confused look Marinette gives him. She has questions, but mostly she’s just glad she doesn’t have to rethink the entire color scheme of this outfit.

Adrien watches over her shoulder as she chooses ribbon and nods as she rambles on about what she’s making. He doesn’t look like he understands what she’s saying to him, but he’s listening and that’s enough.

Marinette estimates how much fabric she needs and Adrien hums to himself as they get the fabric cut and check out.

“What did you think?” Marinette asks as he pushes the door open for her.

Adrien blinks in the bright sunlight and glances down the street before looking back to Marinette. “It was nice,” he says. “Overwhelming, but strangely calming.”

Marinette laughs. “That sounds about right.”

“Where to next?” Adrien asks with a tilt of his head.

“Know anything about art?” Marinette asks as she pulls open the door to the art store.

“Hardly,” Adrien says with a crooked smile. “I don’t know anything about most creative things. I know music and that’s kind of where my creative talents end.”

“Music?” Marinette asks. He’s never mentioned anything about music before, though he hasn’t mentioned many hobbies or talents in general.

“Piano,” he specifies. “Took lessons for years, my parents insisted.”

Marinette leads him toward the markers and paints. “So you must be pretty good, huh?”

“Eh.” He shrugs. “Nowhere as good as my father would like me to be, but I’m passable.”

She rolls her eyes. “So that means you’re fantastic.”

“It really doesn’t,” Adrien says with a laugh. “But thanks for your faith in me.”

Marinette studies the brush markers, trying to decide what brand to get and how much money she’s willing to shell out today. Adrien amuses himself by uncapping some of the markers and trying out the testing markers while she Googles reviews on the internet. He’s flipping through an anatomy book when she decides on a set of markers and moves on to paper. She’s running low.

Marinette wanders further down the aisle where the sketchbooks and papers are. She feels someone’s eyes on her, but when she looks up, she sees a worker at the entrance. Marinette picks up a pack of watercolor paper and hums to herself. She still isn’t sure if she likes this paper, but she has very few options she can afford.

Adrien holds up a copic marker. “Why is this seven euros?”

She blinks at him. “Because it is?”

He squints at it. “It’s just a marker?”

“It’s a copic marker,” she says, like that will explain everything. Judging by the expression on his face, it doesn’t help at all. Marinette takes the marker from him and puts it back with the others. “It’s alcohol based and fancy, that’s why it’s expensive.”

Adrien looks at the case of copics in wonder. “Why would you spend so much on a marker?”

“I don’t know,” Marinette says. Adrien raises his eyebrows and she just shrugs. “I don’t usually use them. I don’t need nice markers and I don’t exactly have a lot of money to be spending on things I don’t need.”

“Fair enough,” he murmurs. He narrows his eyes at the copic. “That better be one magical marker if I’m paying seven euros for it.”

Marinette snorts. “Lucky for you, you’re not.”

Adrien gives her a lopsided smile. “Yeah, that’s true. I’m no Picasso. I think the best I can do is a stick figure.”

She elbows him lightly. “I’m sure you draw beautiful stick figures.”

Adrien laughs and for that moment, Marinette’s world gets a little brighter and her heart starts to sing.

“Have you ever had pizza here?” Marinette asks as her and Adrien wait in line to order.

“Mostly I just get whatever will deliver,” he admits.

“You don’t leave the apartment much, do you?” she teases.

Adrien rubs the back of his neck. “I don’t usually need to.”

“Do you know what you want or do you just want the same as me?”

“Let’s go with the latter.”

Marinette orders her usual and pays before Adrien can offer, rejecting it when it does come. “My treat,” she says with a smile.

They sit in a booth by the window with their pizza and bags.

“Careful, it’s hot—” Marinette warns, just as Adrien burns his tongue.

“Ahhhh—” He sticks his tongue out and makes a pained expression.

She hides her smile behind her slice, but Adrien catches it and glares at her. She just shrugs. “I tried to warn you.” As she picks up her slice, someone catches her eye.

They’re watching her and Adrien out of the corner of their eye. They make eye contact with her and quickly go back to whatever they were doing on their phone. Adrien hisses in pain, bringing Marinette’s attention back to their table. “That was a mistake.”

Marinette opens her mouth to reply. The strange feeling of someone’s eyes on her passes through her and makes her freeze up and she looks back to the person who was watching them. They’re packing up their things and heading out the door.

“What is it?” Adrien asks.

Marinette shakes her head. “Sorry, I thought I saw someone I knew. I was wrong.”

He raises his eyebrows. “Been there, done that. I’ve walked up to people thinking I knew them before. I did not.” She winces. “It was incredibly embarrassing.”

“I can imagine,” she says, taking a careful bite of her pizza.

Adrien eyes her. “Am I going to burn my face off this time?”

Marinette snorts and lowers her slice. “I think you’re okay now.”

“If I die, my blood is on your hands,” he says seriously.

She rolls her eyes. “Pizza isn’t going to kill you, I promise.”

Adrien trails behind Marinette on the stairs, writing a quick email and carrying one of her bags.

“Come in for a minute?” Marinette asks as she pulls out her keys.

“Hm?” Adrien asks. He glances up from his phone. “Oh! Oh yeah, sure. I left my laptop on your table, anyway.”

She shakes her head as she unlocks her apartment. “You have to have more of your stuff at my apartment than your own.”

“It’s called minimalism,” Adrien says seriously.

Marinette frowns as the door swings open. She glances over her shoulder to Adrien. “I didn’t leave the TV on, did I?”

Adrien shakes his head. “We didn’t have it—”

“Hey!” Alya shouts from the couch.

“—on…” He trails off and hangs back by the door.

Marinette rolls her eyes. “Don’t worry, it’s one of my friends. Trust me, I regret letting her have a key to this place,” she stage whispers. She shuts the door once Adrien has stepped inside after a bit of hesitation. She leaves her bags on the table before joining Alya, and apparently Nino, in front of the TV.

Nino pauses whatever show they’re watching and returns to the Netflix home screen.

Marinette crosses her arms and leans over the back of the couch. “Why are you in my house?”

“Apartment,” Nino corrects lightly.

Adrien snorts from where he’s standing awkwardly in the kitchen. He puts Marinette’s bags down on the counter and closes his laptop before holding it to his chest.

“I’ve got a present,” Alya sings, holding up a box.

Marinette rolls her eyes. “Is this payment for breaking and entering?”

“It’s not breaking if you have the key,” Nino points out. He continues to flip through Netflix. “Can’t argue the entering though.”

Alya smiles brightly at Adrien, but Marinette doesn’t miss the way Alya’s eyes sweep over him, taking in as many details as she can. “Hey, stranger!”

Adrien lifts a hand awkwardly, still hanging back by the door.

Nino leans back and nods at Adrien. “Yo, join the party.”

“I should—” Adrien gestures to the door.

Alya jumps up from the couch and hops of the back. She grabs Marinette’s arm as she breezes by, dragging her over to Adrien.

“Alya,” Marinette hisses, attempting to dig her heels into the ground as Alya pulls her along.

“I’m Alya!” she announces, holding out her hand to Adrien. “Marinette’s best friend.”

Adrien hesitates for a long moment before he shakes Alya’s hand. “Adrien. Marinette’s…” his gaze slides to Marinette before snapping back to Alya. “Her neighbor.”

Marinette tries to keep her blush from burning too brightly.

Alya shakes his hand eagerly. “Great to meet you!”

“Nino!” he shouts from the couch. “But I was working all day and I’m tired so sorry, dude, I’m staying put.”

“It’s fine,” Adrien promises. “I really should be getting back. Plagg needs to be fed.”

Marinette nods and pulls away from Alya. “Yeah, of course! Let me just— I’ll show you out.” Alya puts the box into Marinette’s hands winks. Marinette gives her a little shove toward the couch as Adrien pulls open the door.

“You didn’t have to show me out,” Adrien insists as Marinette quickly closes the door once they’re in the hallway. She leans against it so Alya can’t look out the peephole. “I’m sure I won’t get lost on the way home.” He gives her a small smile.

“I wanted the chance to apologize for…them.” Marinette waves at the door behind her. “Mostly Alya, but both of them. They can be a lot.”

“They seem nice,” Adrien says, and Marinette still can’t read him well enough to know if he’s being sincere or not. “What did they get you?” He gestures to the box Marinette is awkwardly holding.

“Pastries. They’re from my parents’ bakery,” Marinette says quickly. “Tom and Sabine’s— they’re my parents. That’s me, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, daughter of Tom and Sabine.” She swallows and glances down at her feet. That was a little too much rambling.

“Marinette Dupain-Cheng,” Adrien repeats softly. “You have a beautiful name.” He’s smiling when Marinette looks up at him.

She bites her lip. “Th-thank you. What about you, what’s your last name?”

“Kersey,” Adrien says, the corner of his mouth lifting in a small smirk. “Adrien Kersey.”

“A nice name,” Marinette says, running it over in her mind. Alya will kill her if she forgets it, but Marinette is fairly certain it’s burned into her brain forever.

“Thanks, my parents chose it,” Adrien jokes. “I’m just stuck with it.” He pushes open his door. “You’ll have to take me to your parents’ bakery sometime. I bet it’s great.”

“Sounds good,” Marinette murmurs as Adrien lifts a hand and disappears into his apartment. When the door clicks shut behind him, she sags against her own door and lets out a sigh.

She really doesn’t know how to handle this boy.

Alya and Nino are staring at her when she reenters the apartment. Marinette feels her face burn as she closes and locks the door.

“Not a word,” she says, putting the box from the bakery down on the kitchen counter.

Nino mimes zipping his lips shut.

“No words?” Alya asks. “Are you sure? Because I have so many words.”

“Yeah, he’s hot,” Nino says.

Marinette glares at him. “Thanks for not saying anything.”

“Alright, now that we are saying things,” Alya says, twisting around on the couch, “where were you? You don’t leave the house without us.”

“I leave the house!” Marinette protests.

Nino raises his eyebrows. “To have fun?”

Marinette turns away to put her keys back.

“Oooo,” Alya drawls. “Silent treatment.”

“It wasn’t fun, anyway,” Marinette says. “I had errands to run.”

“That you decided to run with a cute boy,” Alya points out.

“That sounds like fun to me,” Nino muses.

Marinette glances over her shoulder at him. “Aren’t you supposed to be on my side here?”

Alya gives her an offended look. “I’m his girlfriend.”

“I’ve known him longer.”

“Touché, Dupain-Cheng,” she says, narrowing her eyes.

Marinette sighs. “Speaking of last names…”

“You got it!” Alya shouts, jumping up from the couch. Nino tries to shush her, and she grabs a pillow and covers his face with it. “Tell me tell me tell me— I want to Facebook stalk him.”

Nino pulls the pillow away. “Who uses Facebook anymore?”

Alya turns to Marinette with wide eyes. “Is he secretly a wine mom?”

Marinette stares at her for a long moment. “Why are we friends.”

Alya throws the pillow across the room.

Marinette bats it away and says, “If you want Adrien’s last name, maybe you shouldn’t be throwing things at me.”

“She has a point, babe,” Nino agrees.

Alya sticks her tongue out at him before patting the cushion next to her eagerly. “Come on, Mar! I’ve waited a literal month for this.”

“Hm…” Marinette taps a finger against her lips. “Maybe I should keep you waiting.”

“Marinette!”

“Fine!” She drops down between Alya and the arm of the couch. “His last name is Kersey.”

Alya yanks her phone out of her pocket and starts typing rapidly.

Nino leans forward to look Marinette in the eye. “How long do you think she’s going to be at this?”

“A long time,” Marinette admits.

“Wanna see what Disney movies are on Netflix?” he asks, picking the remote back up. “We put some takeout in your fridge for later tonight.”

“Sounds good to me,” Marinette says. “I need to do a lot of nothing before work tomorrow.”

Nino types in Disney and starts scrolling through the results. “Are Zoé and Dorian still arguing about that thing?”

“If you’re talking about that jacket thing from a few weeks ago, they’re over that. If you’re talking about fake leather, they spent like an hour ‘debating’ that on Friday.”

“Fake leather,” Nino says in wonder. “Why were they debating that? I thought this collection was all like…dresses and stuff. Flowy soft things. What does fake leather have to do with that?”

“Nothing.”

Nino stops clicking through movies for a second. “I don’t understand you people.”

Marinette sighs and sinks against the back of the couch, pulling a pillow to her chest. “Neither do I,” she murmurs.

your tags!!! yes! i also think harry really listens to criticism and tries to get better. so i'm already excited about the next album lmao he will have more experience, it will probably be clearer what he wants, there will be enough time to write some kickass songs, there won't be that pressure of people saying his debut album shouldn't be less than perfect and he proved he can produce a successful album, so maybe he'll have even more cretive freedom. i'm excited and very proud!

YES, EXACTLY.

the thing is, harry IS surrounded by clear eyed reptile men, and his team /had/ been quite obviously going for that grammy from the very start. and i think harry wanted it, too, and that’s why he’d been willing to compromise on Some Stuff at this point in his career. i want to reiterate that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with wanting things like grammys! some parts of this fandom can be stupidly childish about it. there’s nothing wrong with wanting either money, or critical success, or commercial success, or ALL OF THE ABOVE in the field you work in. especially because harry is 10000% driven mostly by PASSION, there’s no doubt about it for me. he was just born to be on stage, man, and it’s evident how much he loves being a performer. it’s evident how much he wants to excel at what he does, to be the best he can be, and that THAT is his Main Goal. and he’s made IMMENSE progress musically/technically -- he plays instruments, he writes music and lyrics, he doesn’t struggle vocally almost at all anymore (and the note changes he does at practically every gig! he’s always experimenting! having fun! amazing!!!). he’s just SUCH A HARD WORKER, MAN. he works SO HARD. and some ppl think that you can’t be a Genuine Artist if you’re not trying to be an indie singer songwriter whose record features guitars only, and who struggles to pay bills every month. like... harry would never be authentic if he tried to be someone he’s not. and what he is, IS a rich post-boyband member. he needs to find his voice while not trying to pretend this isn’t what he’s experienced, not trying to dismiss his past, and it’s HARD. he’s been in the industry literally since he was 16 -- he’s missed out on some crucial stuff in life, even if a lot of that stuff is somewhat ordinary. then again, he’s got to experience other things (some of it is what most of us won’t get to do... probably ever in their lives), and that’s important, too. that’s still experience, albeit different than mine or yours.

i think in general it’s dumb to expect people to sing about their own lives only. look at adele -- she got some flack after trying to be “relatable” on her last record, because what IS THERE to sing about once you’ve made so much money, won so many awards, once you’re a mother in a stable relationship, once you’re not that hometown girl anymore, right? again, bullshit. artists should be allowed to just tell stories, like artists in other fields.

but i digress. the thing with harry is that he’s a REALLY fucking empathetic person, and imho it’s evident that he just works some shit through via his art. he FEELS a lot, and i’m not surprised that he's had a penchant for angst (as a genre, in a way) for a while now. that’s why i do believe his work can be personal, or even autobiographical in that aspect. he just takes all that pain/struggles/etc., and works around it, builds on it. he just needs stories to go with it. and some of them will feel more genuine coming from him now, others -- on the contrary. because he IS just a 23 yo person who’s still discovering who they are, but he’s also been alluding at Certain Things for a few years now. so some things don’t necessarily add up at the moment, but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing! he doesn’t really owe anyone shit! it’s really just the issue of HOW you work with things you want to share, and not share. it’s okay to include details that aren’t really your story, but in that case, it shouldn’t be sold as your story. and it HAS been a part of the marketing for the pink album -- that’s why it’s okay to be disappointent about some choices he’d made on it.

i think harry’s particular advantage as An Artist Signed To A Big Label is that the clear eyed reptile men that surround him genuinely love him -- at least those working most closely with him. i doubt their goals re: harry’s career will change, but i’m hopeful they won’t try to push him more firmly into a direction (heh) that might not be sitting quite right with him. i hope from now on, they’ll try to support him by allowing him to be even more /HARRY/. he’s been in the industry in a long time, but he’d lacked experience as a solo artist, so it’s not like it wasn’t beneficial for him to try to listen to the advice from ppl who’ve been in this game for a long time. especially if those ppl do have his best interests in mind.

tl;dr the pink album was uneven. sott is a fucking DIAMOND that shines most brightly on it. ftdt and mmith are super beautiful, too. he does het content well on songs like woman and ftdt, and the tired tropes WORK well on kiwi, bc kiwi is just BONKERS, not a serious song. but then you’ve got carolina and only angel (although i do like only angel musically), and they’re like... making the whole album feel less genuine (along with making all of the stuff harry does OFF stage less genuine). he’s extremelly spoken out&respectful about his female fanbase, so that’s why those mentions of good girls and short skirts and etc. just felt eye roll worthy to me. he needs to find his footing, and he needs to be allowed to NOT try to be a stereotypical rock star. it’s better to leave some stuff in the 70s, ya know?

THE REAL TL;DR I JUST LOVE HARRY A LOT, MAN. A WHOLE GODDAMN LOT. and i believe in him, because he’s given me plenty of reasons to believe in him. he CAN do better, and i’m sure he will. i’m SUPER excited for hs2. (i’d love him to jump right into it, tbh. i don’t really want a deluxe version of the pink album first, but then again... harry REALLY needs more content for his arena tour, rip. D: i’m a bit worried about the arena tour.)
