Cash: he grins and will grab SOs face so that they can’t move. Then cash finally gets some proper kisses. All the face kisses are nice, but lip ones are even better!

Lord: he blushes harder and harder with each kiss until his face is bright red. Then he nervously leaves some cheek ones of his own. Lord can’t handle the affection though and eventually tries to hide his face in SOs shoulder with a growl

Mutt: pure bliss. He’s just lying there with one arm over SOs back to keep them from getting up. And mutt is purring up a storm. Just lying on his back, dopey grin, and making motor noises lol

Wine: he’ll chuckle playfully and kiss SO back. Maybe nibble along the side of their lip too. He likes how his SO squeaks when he does that

Coffee: he laughs his soft nyehehe and will pull SO closer to nuzzle them. Coffee absolutely adores when they do this. It puts little hearts in his eyes

G: he just smirks and lies back to let SO do their thing. When the kisses stop, G will smooch their forehead and call them a dork

Green: he sighs happily and tells SO they spoil him too much. Green will press his forehead against theirs afterwards and give their hand a little kiss

Peaches: he physically can’t stop himself from purring. Not that he tried very hard lol. While he purrs, peaches runs his hands through SOs hair playfully

Rancher: he grins mischievously and will flip SO over so that he’s laying on top of them. Then rancher is covering their face with kisses. Take that!

OK SO real talk: ik it literally says in my freaking bio that the end of season 5 never happened for me:’D

but in all honestly? i thought the ending of bbc merlin in terms of arthur dying (albite super fuckin rushed fsssssss) was rlly beautifully done/managed? which is a total tribute to colin and bradley rather than the writers tbh lets be clear ab that

i also think that arthur dying is a large source of the reason why this fandom holds onto the show in such a strong and lovely, commendable way, bc it doesn’t give us room to be satisfied and move on and holds us in the world of camelot and whatever the fuck they planned albion to even be too djdjj....it also means that we get all of the INCREDIBLE fics that we do from amazing amazing content creators bc of the absolute shit we were given from the show as an ending w the totally open-ended possibilities and approximately 0 actually answered questions

if i were to change anything specifically at all, the one important feature i would add as a large LARGE portion of season 5 before even setting up the whole mordred turning psycho shindig is the development of albion itself and whatever the living fuck kilgarrah the massive scaled hippie meant when he said “all you and arthur have dreamed of has come to pass” to merlin

like what the fuck writers,,,,give me that supposed bliss, happiness, and magic inclusive/supportive king arthur instead of that half-assed statement from the apparently dying dragon like bro

FitzSimmons Appreciation Week ↳ Day 4: AU of your choice - The Good Place!

Written for @accio-the-force, who requested FS + Stay Over. Alright, so, technically, this is FS + Stay bc I could not for the life of me figure out another Stay Over drabble (I’ve got another one here). BUT, I feel like you’ll like this one anyway. :)

This is a super short FS + The Good Place AU that will probably not make as much sense if you don’t watch the show, but I hope you still enjoy! Basically, FS are in the afterlife together, and well, angst and feels happen. Also, spoilers (kinda?) for season 1 and early season 2 if you haven’t watched the show. Rated T for implied sexual content.

This is also written to fulfill the Fanwork Friday Prompt “Trust”. Enjoy!

“They’re gonna find out eventually, right? That we cracked it?”

Fitz nodded his head slowly as he placed his hands on his hips. “I mean, that’s the way it’s always gone, apparently.”

In a matter of hours, what would normally be weeks’ worth of research had spread across nearly every surface of Jemma and Fitz’s shared living space. But it seemed only natural that it would take them such a short amount of time. As they’d lived the same lives over and over again, the details were much easier to pin down. And now they stood side by side staring at the mountain of evidence – this wasn’t the Good Place, the oasis they were promised in the afterlife. And they were in trouble.

Jemma slowly exhaled as she lowered her gaze to the floor. “And then?” she asked weakly.

“And then they’ll do what they always do: reboot the Good Place, or whatever bloody place this is, and wipe our memories. So, we’re back to square one.”

“I feel like I should be more surprised, but I guess we’ve figured this out, what, 274 times before?”

Fitz bent over to retrieve the last of his calculations, the moment where they determined exactly how many lives they’d lived before discovering the truth. He chuckled lightly. “That would be correct.”

Jemma managed a weak laugh even though she truly wanted to burst into tears. She didn’t want to think about all the memories lost, all that time just gone from existence. She shook her head in disbelief. “Now I just feel hopeless. Because after all this time, after every reboot, we can’t figure out how to fix this. You’d think by now we would have figured out a way to—to escape this place or something.”

Fitz pressed his lips into a firm line. “I know. It’s obviously not that easy.”

Sinking down onto the small step that led to their bedroom, Jemma dropped her chin to her chest and ran her fingers through her hair. As Fitz took the place next to her, Jemma noticed how he was suddenly hesitant to even touch her, which made her heart sink.

In this version of the Good Place, they’d spent nearly a month together before they’d realized something was off about their so-called peaceful afterlife. Before their suspicions emerged, something almost beautiful had blossomed between them – a connection Jemma had never experienced in her life on Earth. They hadn’t officially considered themselves a couple, necessarily, as they didn’t want to rush things – they had all of eternity in store for them, after all. And yet that very morning, mere hours before Fitz brought forth his theory that the Good Place wasn’t what it seemed, Jemma had planned to confess her true feelings for him that evening. But now, with the entirety of the world put into question, the atmosphere of their near dreamlike relationship had shifted, and Jemma sadly wondered if they were even soulmates in the first place.

She wanted to reach out to him as they sat in silence, to link her arm through his and pin herself to his side like she’d done countless times over the last few weeks, the bliss of their new relationship nearly infectious. But he was stiff as a board, and she didn’t want to force him into anything now that the whole soulmate thing was probably rubbish.

“We’re supposed to find peace in the afterlife,” Jemma uttered as she wrapped her arms around her knees.

“But this is torture. Losing our memories each time, it’s madness.”

“Why do you think they picked us?” she asked, turning to face him. “What did we do on Earth to deserve this?”

“Maybe that’s just it. It’s not about us. It’s just a game to them. Find some innocent souls, put them in a supposed paradise, and then rip the rug out from under them. Over and over again for pure amusement. I’m sure whoever they are, they’re having a blast finding new ways to make our afterlives miserable.”

“Like the sinkhole in the frozen yogurt shop?”

“Yeah, or watching a dog get thrown into the sun,” he replied, his lip just curling into a smile.

When he nudged her side, she finally let out a genuine chuckle. Even though the strange occurrences meant to make their lives miserable were horrendous and downright outrageous, they weren’t always too bad. When the sinkhole emerged out of nowhere on a relatively uneventful afternoon, Fitz pulled Jemma into his arms in two seconds flat. They couldn’t die, obviously, but the feeling of his heart racing where she was pressed against his chest – it made her realize that she would do just about anything to make sure he was okay. And she suspected he felt the same.

“What do you want to do now?” Fitz asked her.

“I don’t know. I guess we’ll just have to sleep on it.”

“Yeah, you’re right.” For a moment, he hesitated before pushing himself off the step. “I’ll take the couch.”

Jemma knew he was simply being a gentleman, but it still pained her to see him already growing distant. She didn’t blame him, as it was all suddenly so confusing. But she also didn’t know how long they’d have in this version before it was all over.

Pushing herself up, she trailed his quiet footsteps, following him to their kitchen. “Fitz?”

He placed a water bottle on the counter before turning around, keeping his head down slightly as he hummed in response. From her spot a few meters away, Jemma could make out a slight redness in his eyes.

“You don’t have to. Take the couch, I mean. You can stay in the room. It’s ours, anyway.”

“Right, well, I just didn’t know how you were feeling since we might not even be soulmates—”

“I don’t care about that. What we felt was real. What we feel is real.” She paused and watched as he swallowed hard, his eyes shifting to her feet. She struggled to push down a similar lump forming in her throat. “You don’t have to, of course. But I think we’d sleep better that way.”

He looked at her feet a few moments more before meeting her eyes. “Okay,” he agreed, nodding his head and letting her lead the way.

Once they went about their normal nightly routine, they found themselves laying at opposite ends of the bed staring at the ceiling. Every other night before this (in this reboot, anyway), they’d spent the moments before falling asleep talking up a storm. With so much in common and full lives worth of memories on Earth without the other, they had quite a lot to talk about. But now, the silence between them was deafening.

After a few moments of listening to each other’s breaths, Fitz broke the silence as he shifted on the bed towards their nightstand. “Do you want me to turn out the—”

“Do you think about it?”

“Hmm?”

She still didn’t face him, but she could feel him settle back onto his pillow, his eyes now on her. “What we were like in the other versions. I mean, statistically speaking, it probably went about nearly the same way every time, considering the reboots don’t cause any shifts in our personalities or memories from Earth.”

“That’s true.”

“But there were bound to be some outliers.” She paused for a moment to close her eyes. “You probably hated me on a number of occasions.”

At first, he didn’t respond, and Jemma nearly rolled over to avoid his gaze, but then she felt something brush against her arm before his hand found hers underneath the sheets.

“Nah, that’s impossible.”

The next day, when they met their identical fate and were wiped of their memories, starting the cycle all over again, Jemma wouldn’t recall what happened after he took her hand, or even that he took it at all.

She wouldn’t remember the time they spent exploring their new neighborhood together, their trips to the zoo, their late-night conversations about science and the universe.

She wouldn’t remember him saving her from falling into the sinkhole.

She wouldn’t remember his racing heart.

But most importantly, she wouldn’t remember their final night together. Gone was the memory of how they turned toward the center of the bed and found each other’s eyes, a soft glow casting across his features from their bedside lamp.

Gone was the memory of how she found her hand molding along his jawline, the gaze of his bright blue eyes sending shivers down her spine before they finally met in the middle.

Gone was the memory of the electricity of his lips when they touched hers for the first time, how he seemed to melt into her as if he’d been waiting his entire life, or multiple lives it seemed, to take this leap with her, a leap that felt like the most natural thing in the world. She wouldn’t remember the gentle give and take of their lips moving together as their hands began to explore places previously left untouched.

Gone was the memory of when they finally became one.

The next day, she wouldn’t remember the tips of his fingers brushing against her skin to catch the stray tear trailing down her cheek, their heavy breaths filling the quiet room, or the moment when she finally uttered the words she’d saved for that night. It only took him a moment to catch his breath, but in this new life, she wouldn’t remember how he whispered the same three words against her hair.

But when they did meet again the next day, when they’re introduced supposedly for the first time and given their home and the promise of a forever future with each other as soulmates, something would come back to her. It wouldn’t be the memory of his chuckle against her ear, or his sentiments from that night that everything would work out alright as long as they had each other.

It would be a feeling. At first, it would just be a flicker, a whisper of a memory of something between them. She wouldn’t understand at first – why his voice was somehow familiar or how she already knew how to curl herself into him as if they were puzzle pieces long lost under a rug only to finally find their way home.

But she would understand. And this time, it wouldn’t take her nearly as long.

Jemma trailed her finger across Fitz’s cheek, and then further down to trace patterns against his chest. “What if we won’t feel this – in the next reboot?”

His breath tickled her forehead as he pulled her in closer. “Trust me. We will.”

Plot Update: Our new plot will be an on-going, event based plot wherein all our members will help us steer and decide the fate of FS. Whether peace returns or the city falls into something more akin to post-apoc, is up to everyone as a whole!

500 years ago:

The supernaturals emerged from the shadows. The fae, the sempiternals, the immortals and the eternals, one after another at varied points throughout the years, forcing humanity to adjust. Although the years following were predictably full of cries calling for an eradication of these creatures, humanity would soon realize it had never truly been alone. The subsequent decades slowly evened out back into the quiet lull that had been before, almost. Segregation, discrimination, and inter-species waring for power still took place behind the scenes, but the lands were relatively peaceful overall.

With peace comes comfort; allowing the species to mingle while dwindling the population of ‘pure’ humans enough that in truth, their numbers are reaching near extinction, a quiet thought at the back of everyone’s mind, but on the forefront of very few.

With this peace also came new laws. A new world order slowly set in, and in many cities territories appeared, as well as the governing rule: do not mess with each other.

March 2020:

One incident on Feb 29th, 2020 was all it took for the world to break; when a famously outspoken TV personality, most noted for sowing chaos and hate-speech, was mauled by a rogue shifter on air, all Hell broke loose. The actions only proved the bestial savagery of the species, a species that have always been more beast than man.

All eyes turned to the shifters.

Fear broke out among the mortal population, calling for justice - ignorance is bliss however, and what no one knew was that shifters have always been allowed to handle their species issues, on their own. The world cried wolf. Hate, fear, and discrimination ran rampant, businesses shut their doors to shifters, civil & city jobs were forced to lay off their shifter employees or be overrun with hate; the people called for the city to reinforce their need of segregation while the shifters pulled back among themselves and reinforced their borders.

The other species were pushed to make a decision; would they maintain a neutral stance?

It was only a question of time before even they are dragged into the ultimate war: for San Francisco herself.

September 2020:

The world has been waiting for an answer from the rest of the the species, the hate that bred itself in the heart of San Francisco has bled out to touch most major cities across the world. Unperturbed by the frivolities of the mortals, the fae forged ahead with their annual solstice festival, the mayor declaring the weekend before the 22nd, one of peace.

Things began peacefully enough, though it took only twelve hours before the world forced another hand into the fire; this time the fae. Outed publicly during the mayoral speech, as harboring the same privilege as the shifters in policing their own, the crowd broke into riot.

This out of the fae took some time to settle, and even now it’s not fully settled into the cracks, though they’re slowly sliding down the same rabbit hole the shifters have; businesses have begun turning them away and letting them go from their jobs.

Present:

Old world factions have snuck their toes into the sand and gained footing, most notably the hunters; a secret society dragged up from the depths off the back of the spreading hatred. The shifters continue to reinforce, war and strengthen among themselves as the world continues to push against them. The clear want after justice has long since mutated and been lost in the message as the discrimination has spread to the fae; one thing is for certain, there’s no going back and there will be no peace until a resolution is found, or until one side comes out on top.

#29: “God, you are so beautiful.

The halls were quiet, the staff all gone off to their late night lives. The longer he walked down the hallway the darker the walkway became, until finally the entrance of the lab beamed out into the dark abyss he was starting to adjust to.

Fitz walked into the lab, the lights striking his eyes in a sudden yet refreshing way, and his ears instantly filled with the most beautiful sound of a hum that echoed the facility. Fitz felt a soft smile creep on his face as he saw Jemma sitting on the stool at her and Fitz’s area of the lab. Her hand stroked her rounded, swollen belly as she hummed her favorite lullabies to herself.

Fitz stood there, silently, content to just watch his wife be at peace. She was his wife, pregnant with their baby. He never would’ve thought, out of the hundreds of obstacles the bloody cosmos had thrown at them, that they would be here. Safe. Together.

Jemma turned just slightly, looking over her shoulder to see her smiling husband. She gave him a smirk before looking back at her work. “You’re up late.”

Fitz took that as his cue to approach. With his hands in his pockets he walked to her side, glancing at her report she was working on for the morning.

Fitz shrugged. “Couldn’t sleep.”

She looked up, chin raised, brow furrowed. “You’re not having nightmares again are you-?”

Fitz laid a gentle hand on her shoulder and wagged his head, a reassuring face right along with it. “M’fine, Jemma. Nothin’ like that. Just couldn’t sleep without… well, you.”

Jemma’s worried expression turned into a loving one. “Always the romantic, aren’t we?”

Fitz scoffed a little through his nose. “More like always the worrier. I couldn’t bother sleeping not knowing if you were safe.”

“Oh Fitz,” Jemma turned her stool around so she could angle her body towards him. “Last time I checked, there wasn’t any space rocks lying around.”

He raised a brow, a playful look planted on his lips. “You know what I mean, Jemma.” He let out a deep sigh, his hand now resting on her stomach. He rubbed circles around, gazing down at his unborn child.

“Fitz,” she grabbed his hand, meeting his eyes. He found himself lost in her caramel gaze, nothing able to bring him out of it but her. “We’re not going anywhere.”

Fitz nodded, the blue of his irises swimming with memories. “I know.” He let out a shaky breath, his hand stroking her belly once more. “Doesn’t hurt to be cautious, does it?”

Jemma rolled her eyes at him, but the genuine and loving look in her eyes spoke differently. She understood, she knew just how he felt. “Can you believe it? In three months she’s going to be here. We can hold her and kiss her, sing to her, love her…”

Jemma was holding her belly, looking down at her rounded stomach when Fitz got down on his knees, meeting her belly at eye level. He wrapped his arms around her as he pressed his lips to the top of her stomach, a long lingering kiss before pulling away and meeting Jemma’s gaze again.

“I bet she has your eyes,” he muttered into the stretched fabric of her shirt.

Jemma ran a hand through his soft curls, playing with the ringlets that came out through her combing. “And your curls.”

Fitz oggled up at her, her eyes sparkling in the low light, her face beaming. He took in a deep breath, his chin resting on her belly. He was in awe of her. Sometimes he couldn’t believe she could possibly be someone he could call his. “God, you are so beautiful.”

Jemma’s beam turned more into a softly tinted blush, her fingers still mindlessly playing with his curls. “You’re not too bad yourself.”

He searched her, just taking in this moment of serenity and pure bliss. “I love you, Jemma Fitzsimmons.”

She grinned down at him, her thumb brushing his cheek. “And I love you, Leopold Fitzsimmons.”

Later in the story – Ferdinand interrupts Aegis at his café.

Pure bliss.

He was about to open up his newspaper when there was a tap on the glass by his head.

Startled out of his blissful stupor, he looked up out the window to see the figure of Ferdinand, grinning at him.

Ferdinand mouthed hullo and waved a little. He started to talk, then caught himself, shaking his head. Instead he gestured vaguely towards the entrance of the Café Rudas. Aegis frowned.

By the time he had worked out half of an excuse for him to come back later, Ferdinand had already walked off down the street, the doorbell just tinkling as he entered the café.

Aegis sighed as he put away his newspaper and reading glasses. So much for peace.

Ferdinand pulled out a chair in front of him, sitting down. “I’m sorry, am I interrupting anything?”

“It’s fine,” he said, a slight grimace on his face.

Aegis pulled back his cutlery as Ferdinand settled in.

“I was just wondering if you were interested in going out to Bad Ischl. Not for business, mind you. I feel like it’s time we need a break.”

“I suppose,” Aegis said, still a little grumpy. “And what do you propose to do there?”

“Oh, just relax, see the sights, enjoy the weather, you know.”

Bad Ischl was a well-known spa town. Last time he had been, there were too many rich people for his taste, but it was true that a break would be appreciated.

Ferdinand watched kindly as Aegis considered the offer, lost in thought.

“Take your time, old chap. No hurry for you to decide on the spot.”

“What brought this on?”

Ferdinand eyed his opera.

“I was wondering whether – ”

Aegis pushed the plate towards him. “Go ahead.”

Ferdinand eagerly took a forkful and gulped it down, chewing thoughtfully. “Delicious. Well, the fact is, you see, I’ve been a bit worried about you.”

Aegis was taken aback.

“Worried? About me?”

“You seem a bit worked up over all this.”

Aegis leaned back in his chair. “I’m always worked up,” he said, somewhat astounded by his own honesty.

i was actually thinking of karlovy vary (czech republic) & bad ischl (ACTUALLY HALLSTATT, NEVER MIND) is just a pretty town in salzkammergut which was fully replicated in china so the name comes to me. real life locations may or may not be referred to by their actual names but vague equivalents exist just because it’s easier to have one main inspiration & not make up a whole new fake europe

this is incredibly short because i only write this stuff between 11pm & 1am to calm down

to be fair even if you had been married to aegis for 30 years he wouldn't be happy if you disturbed his alone time. BUT he'd put up with it.

i’m actually not that much of a fan of eastern/southern european cakes... like other desserts are great but idk there’s just smth about the consistency (& for italian cakes, the alcohol taste)

i feel like aegis is... a more sophisticated cake man. he's not particularly into overly chocolatey things. he wants depth but he appreciates simplicity done well. probably into strudel
