12 am anon back at it again. my friend called me at 2 am, tipsy on i wanna say wine??? and ranted about how nightwing’s “superpower” is his charisma for like 15 mins . and then they talked about how he looks like he’d have a great spice tolerance before hanging up. i think its a hyperfixation .
I absolutely love it!! You and your friend just have the best conversations ever.
Your ask immediately reminded me of this scene from YJ Season 3
"That's just about everyone. Wasn't sure they'd all respond."
"You command more respect than you realize."
"I'm starting to get that."
Literally this boy has charisma oozing out of his pores. It absolutely is his superpower!
Charisma is known as "a personal magic of leadership arousing special popular loyalty or enthusiasm for a public figure" or "the quality of being able to attract, charm and influence those around you." And Dick is the living embodiment of it.
It's actually a canon trait of his

Dick has the unique ability to lead people. It's not just about telling others what to do, it's people wanting to follow him, listen to him, and and accepts his commands of their own volition.
In the DC/RWBY comic, the RWBY team crosses over to Gotham with all their problems so they have to work together with Batman, Batgirl, and Nightwing (Ruby REALLY gets along with Dick which for some reason makes so much sense idk why). And the batfamily get superpowers.
And DC-
DC LITERALLY WENT-

THEY ACTUALLY GAVE HIM THE POWER OF INSPIRATION. THEY SAID "if anyone has the ability to lead people to a better life, give them light and hope, and be everyone's favorite leader and savior, then there is only one person to which we can attribute this power to."
Inspiration is the factor that leads people to moving mountains, becoming greater, and changing our entire lives and everyone else and Dick is the one who bestows that power.
He literally inspires people to be better and inspires them to follow him and became the greatest they can be.

He just has the ability to inspire people to reach greater heights. The younger generation, his own, and the older ones kind of hero worship him.
Charisma is a dangerous power to have. It's essentially the unique ability to convince people to want to do things for you.
Examples of charismatic leaders are Martin Luther King Jr, Joan of Arc, Fidel Castro, and Napolean.
These people moved nations, worlds, societies but they are only one person. And Dick, has the ability to do this too.
To describe him as a person, to describe his charismatic authority, you need to combine all those figures into one person. And that's the equivalent of his power.
Because in the comics when he wants something - the whole superhero society answers.

On a separate note, Dick does have a high spice tolerance!

Also Romani food is made hot and spicy, commonly using chili, paprika, and red and black pepper. So he can definitely handle the heat.
Lol I'm just imagining Dick absent-mindedly chewing on a red chili pepper while he watches Garth dare Wally to eat a ghost pepper while Donna's rolling her eyes and Roy's hyperventilating on the floor because he's having flashbacks to Ollie's Chilli.

Fun fact, Nakaya was one of the first people wanting a character to be resurrected and was the first one to come up with a "Nishiki lives" au where he's badly injured but survived. I know this is super random but I dreamt that s3 came out immediately after s2 and all the characters were acting as if s2 didn't happen and was going about their lives normally, except they would randomly drop hints about what was retconned. I remember a conversation between crowley and aziraphale with zira asking crowley why he was so gloomy, and crowley replying because he found his love but they didn't remember now... stuff like that
I didn't even watch s2...

xianyun and nahida's banners just dropped and the 4*s are kinda-
we got ga-ming but faruzan and noelle are definitely a choice
- curse anon
you could argue noelle is from the poetry event, but faruzan… yeah that’s certainly A Four Star
although, she is supposedly a pretty good anemo support/sub dps, right? with xianyun (and xiao just around the corner) it makes sense to add her on there. since 1) nahida is a support 2) they’re likely trying to push xianyun 3) xianyun is probably a dps (no i haven’t seen her skill cards yet and i’m not going to until she releases) (lied, she’s like. a healer. so??) so that makes sense to me
in the end, i don’t mind. so long as ga ming is on the banner, we live we laugh and we love

I know the ''villain! Will'' arguments are annoying af for many reasons, first of all it being unfit for Will's characterization and the fans's refusal to see him in a hero role... but are we really gonna act like that wasn't the intention on the writers? Because I think they wanted to further some sort of a plotline like that for Will in S5 via Vecna. Not saying he is going to become an evil guy to take revenge on the town or because he's been mistreated by the others, but I think they wanted the audience to think that way to an extent... and to further some sort of a 'situation' between Vecna and Will. Again, I don't think the audience is in the right or anything because I agree that Will is not gonna be evil, I think the way the narrative was portrayed intentionally was made that way to further a certain narrative for S5 imho. Like, I don't think it was just a coincidence that people started demanding Will to team up with Vecna to take revenge after vol2. It happened because the writers were aiming to get a certain reaction and expectation from the audience.
Did they, though?
And tbf to you anon I don’t know if it’s clear what their intentions are with Will from the show alone, hero! Will and villain! Will alike. From where I am villain! Will takes only came about after it was confirmed by the Duffers that Will would be the focus of season five, and for me that’s also when I began theorizing about his bigger role in the show. I do have some evidence from the show to jumpstart this idea although without that confirmation from the writers it would be very easy to assume that Will would be relegated to Vecna-radar-side-character while all of the heavy narrative lifting would be given to El again.
And tbh I think that the Duffs wanted to put out a statement saying that Will was the focus for s5 as marketing but also as a way to cover their asses for how Will was treated in season 4. They know that confirming their first actual gay character to be gay in a season where he is pushed into a romantic side plot where it appears on the surface to be used as a platform for the main hetero couple to stand on looks very bad, so they wanted to get ahead of some of the criticism by saying “Hey! Don’t worry because he’s going to be the focus of season 5!” And I get it because I know that this is a set up to lead to byler happy ending and they definitely want the audience to be on Will’s side, and they have to wait several years in order for the audience to see the full picture, although admittedly there was probably a better way to go about doing this.
I think that not expecting Will to be a hero is a pitfall of the writers but at the same time I don’t think that there is much in the show to suggest that Will would go evil. Yes the connection to Vecna is clear, and I expect that relationship to be fleshed out next season, although Will doesn’t have a vengeful mindset, and there isn’t any character trait of his to suggest that he would turn evil. If Will is possessed again (which they likely won’t do since it’s repetitive) then it’s not really him being the evil one, he’s just a puppet for the actual evil guy.
I think that people’s minds go to villain Will because, well, they don’t really know what to expect from a Will-lead season. Will can’t be the proverbial hero or “chosen one” because that’s El’s title, and like I said from my original post I can’t really blame the audience for thinking this. So I don’t know if villain! Will is really an actual intention from the writers or another example of a writing pitfall mixed with ignorance from certain audience members.

I unfortunately do not have any floormaster headcanons to send you, so I’ll ask a question instead: how do you think the floormasters would act if they were participants in the game?
SORRY THIS TOOK TOO LONG BUT I'M STUPID AND I ACCIDENTALLY DELETED THE WHOLE ANSWER INSTEAD OF SAVING IT 😭
now, without much context it's hard to say... are the floor masters participants and viceversa? or are the floor masters participants together with the main cast? are the floor masters acting like their "floor masters selves" or are they acting "human"? some answers might change depending on that but. ugh. my thoughts can't turn into words.
sorry they aren't very long but I honestly never thought of this and didn't want to leave you to wait for a week </3 also. writer's block sucks :D
[actual headcanons under the cut]
Sue Miley
- bonds with Safalin almost immediately, seeing her as the most normal among the group
- she doesn't like the rest of the group too much but recognizes why they're needed to move forward in the game
- a bit cold
- not the laughing doll in this scenario but laughs at most inopportune moments (nervous laughter)
Rio Ranger
- a bit of an annoying brat
- most people dislike him but understand he's a kid
- he doesn't really leave Gashu's side and vouches for him, showing they can trust him
- he left Gashu's side once and got caught in a trap
- if Kai's there, he'd glare daggers at him the whole time
- comes up with great and brilliant ideas out of nowhere from time to time
- great at minigames (attractions)
Tia Safalin
- she tries to keep an eye on Rio, trying to be the main target of his harassment so that others won't dislike him too much (they're still annoyed by proxy)
- she's mostly patient and nice with everyone, but could easily backstab them (or try to) if the situation allows it
- she's not as much of a crybaby as she is in game since she's not the crying doll here
- but she's still very sensitive
- she cries during arguments (main game discussions)
Gashu Satou
- he has the potential to be very helpful to the group but he gives uncanny valley, so they're mostly uncomfortable around him
- his potential is mainly in the technological/mechanical field
- if Kai is in the group, depending on the Asu-Naro situation in this scenario, he'd either avoid him and be neutral to him as much as he can or try to protect him as much as possible without it being too apparent
- he'd try to protect Rio
- he'd either die first or survive until the final floor (to die anyway)
- someone tried at lest once to rip that crabstache off only to come to the terrible realizzation that it is indeed real
Midori / Sou Hiyori
- he wouldn't have to change his name in any scenario
- manipulates everyone into trusting him, making them believe that he's a good guy who only wants what's best for them, who wants to help them escape, who would sacrifice himself even for them... etc
- then he backstabs everyone, managing to be the only one standing at the end of the game.
- at least that's the plan
- he'd be among the ones with the highest survival percentage, although, as we know, his plans don't always go his way...
Meister
- bro's chilling :D
- he's rather friendly with everyone but something seems off
- he actually takes the situation very seriously but his calm and nonchalant behavior might show otherwise
- no, no one is questioning why he's covered in bandages
- quietly makes it quite far
- although a bit suspicious

No but same though. Stuffing kink is such a backdoor to gas (sorry about the pun lol). Like my brain goes gremlin when a character goes "God, I'm so full. Can you rub my belly for me?". CAUSE LIKE SIR??? PLEASE??? YOU'RE GOING TO BE GASSY AFTER ALL YOU ATE???
(late response, this was about me talking about wanting to write a character burping in an otherwise vanilla stuffing fic. which i did end up doing, by the way)
no yeah, i stand by my claim that getting into gas stuff either comes from already being into stuffing and coming to a natural conclusion, or already being into stomach based whump and coming to natural conclusion... (okay not everyone but i feel it’s pretty common from what ive seen)
sighs.. stuffing leading to being gassy is my biggest weakness... my kryptonite, my Achilles’ heel... give me some one farting after their full belly is pressed down on and i melt into the floor

Do you think that even after dating Mikan for a while Natsume would still being jealous?
Hi hi hi, Anon!
So this is a bit complex and I'm sure there's various opinions on this, but I'll just stick to my own understanding of his character for this.
To start with, Oxford has a couple definitions of jealousy.
feeling or showing envy of someone or their achievements and advantages. feeling or showing suspicion of someone's unfaithfulness in a relationship. fiercely protective or vigilant of one's rights or possessions.
Essentially, jealousy is a normal emotion (notice here that the above definitions use the word "feeling") but it's born of insecurity. If you think back on any TV shows or movies where jealousy plays a major role, the jealous person is usually feeling insecure for whatever reason. Sometimes it's justified and sometimes it's not. Let's discuss this a bit.
One: The first definition describes envy of achievements and advantages. You might say this is how Natsume is jealous for most of the manga before he and Mikan actually get together. I wrote a very long series of essays detailing this, but his jealousy is mainly about being able to pursue affection or a relationship. He's jealous of Tsubasa for being able to hug Mikan, openly or otherwise. He's jealous of Tono for being touchy-feely, because he isn't allowed to be. He's convinced any affection toward her would hurt her, so he can't even try it.
That's an advantage Tsubasa and other boys have that Natsume doesn't; it crops up every now and then with his humorous aggression toward Tsubasa and Tono and his moody stares whenever Ruka and Mikan have a moment. His circumstances make it so hugging or spending too much with Mikan is not a possibility and he's jealous of others for not having to worry about that.
You see a few times in the manga when he is less constrained and acts a lot more familiar with her; whenever he backs off it's because he has no choice. He becomes less jealous during those moments, because if he has the same opportunities he can only blame himself if things don't go his way. Granted, I said "less jealous", not "not jealous at all" because Natsume's martyr complex doesn't stop him from wanting what he wants, even if he won't admit it. He wants to love Mikan openly and also to be loved by her. Thus, jealousy would be two-fold, and if either of those desires is challenged (and they are, frequently) then he gets jealous. Yes, he puts his wants aside often, but that doesn't mean they don't exist or influence his emotions.
I don't think Natsume in a happy relationship would feel that as much. You might bring up his fourth alice shape as a reason why he might feel insecure, and I'd give you that if I wasn't a hundred feet deep in delusion, since I believe the fourth shape would become a nonissue eventually. He can hold her hand or hug her or kiss her whenever he wants, and actually has more justification to do so than anybody else.
That brings us to two: The second definition is about suspecting infidelity. I think I talked about this the most in my essay about Natsume's feelings during the Rapunzel Arc, but Natsume is deeply self-loathing. He doesn't view himself as valuable because of who he is and he doesn't entirely buy that Mikan really loves him. He thinks her love is weaker than his, maybe fleeting. She is affection, but her affections are definitely not invincible. She could hate him someday, and he could never hate her back.
"You are mine."
If Natsume thinks Mikan doesn't love him as much as he loves her, then it's completely possible that he might get insecure about her feelings. I don't think Mikan would cheat, but the fear that maybe he's not as interesting, or that her feelings have passed onto somebody else are still on the table. I think Natsume might struggle with believing that Mikan chose him and doesn't have feelings for anybody else.
This is where independent thinking must come into play. To be entirely honest, if Tachibana Higuchi is at all to be listened to, then I think Natsume would be within his rights to be jealous under this second definition. Our dear mangaka has made jokes to the effect that Natsume shouldn't be too comfortable, that he hasn't "won" yet, that Ruka or Hotaru still have a shot. That's not even mentioning the atrocious final chapter, where Mikan apparently only cares about Hotaru and doesn't mind telling every single person that came to see her that Hotaru is number one and the others don't even place (OOC and disgusting behavior, TBH).
I think that's all ridiculous and the final chapters are so bad I ignore them. The only part of the Memorial Book I care about is the Red Riding Hood comic and the HotaRuka picture. I ignore Higuchi Tachibana's post canon ideas entirely.
FIRST: Natsume absolutely should be comfortable in a monogamous romantic relationship with Mikan! He should not be nervous and watching over his shoulder all the time! That's so ridiculous, that he shouldn't trust his girlfriend not to be faithful to him. It's insulting to their relationship and to Mikan, especially, that there's a chance Mikan would change her mind all of a sudden.
SECOND: Natsume did not win. He was chosen. Love isn't a game. I'd argue it's hardly even a feeling. It's a choice. There's a reason married couples go to counseling to work on their relationship when their feelings weaken; the feelings are an important part of a bond, but they're not the only part. Otherwise, what is stopping every dissatisfied person out there from leaving their partner to find a new and exciting stomach full of butterflies and electricity? You choose to work on the relationship because you choose that person, good and bad (to an extent, of course), and there shouldn't be anything fleeting or hesitant about that.
Mikan chose Natsume. She loves him, yes, but she also chose him. She chose to kiss him, to give him her heart via alice stone and also metaphorically. She chose to devote herself to him, and that's not the same as Natsume winning some competition. That was something only Mikan could decide, and she did. If we have any trust in Mikan, and we should, then we should disregard Higuchi Tachibana's attempt to be edgy and believe that Natsume should not be worried about her leaving him for anybody else.
THIRD: Love, in its feeling form, doesn't have some maximum capacity, and as a result it should not be that simple to state who you love the most (but also common courtesy should keep you from announcing that information out loud to a group of people who care about you for no real reason, especially when said top person isn't even there). Hotaru is Mikan's best friend. Ruka is Mikan's trusted friend and ally. Natsume is her boyfriend. There's different types of love and those types are all important and valuable.
I don't think Mikan would be unfaithful. I don't think she'd leave Natsume or have an emotional affair, trying to suppress hidden feelings for somebody else while she placates Natsume. It's a nasty thing to accuse her of, and I don't care much for the Memorial Book for this reason. Mikan loves Natsume. She chose him. End of story.
But Natsume is insecure. He was brought back from the dead just to make Mikan happy, after all, so he has no reason to believe in his own value, still, even at the manga's close. I think they'd both have to work on his insecurity to completely eliminate his feeling of not being enough for her. She'd have to validate him, but I'm sure she's up for it, because it doesn't seem that difficult TBH. He's so beyond happy just being chosen, that if she just keeps at it (keeps choosing him and openly loving him), that it would help a lot with his work on himself.
To the final definition: Being protective or possessive. This one is the one that sounds most like what we see in Kageki. A Natsume who is dating Mikan, trusts Ruka with her, and can be as openly affectionate as he wants. There's no wanting for advantages, because he has more than anybody. No fearing infidelity, because he trusts his best friend and his girlfriend. But possessiveness? That we do see.
Natsume monopolizes Mikan's attention and I personally think that's great. He's being selfish, and y'all know that's what I love to see for him after he's put himself dead last his whole life. Natsume is the kind of boyfriend who wants to spend all his time with his girlfriend, even just sitting around doing nothing, because he's spent so much time not being able to. I don't really think that would ever go away.
But over time, as he becomes healthier, I don't think the first two definitions would apply at all. I don't think he'd want to switch places with anybody and he wouldn't be scared for his relationship. He'd maintain just the right amount of possessiveness. He does after all, keep going back to the "You're mine" thing, so it clearly means a lot that she is his girlfriend. He'd also love any possessiveness from her because being loved by her makes him happy.
I really didn't mean for this answer to be so long but turns out I have quite a lot of thoughts on the topic.
I guess the short of it is that yes, to an extent, I think he'd keep some of his jealousy around, but that it would become less and less about fearing infidelity or of not being good enough.

I don't know if I missed it but they didn't even make a parallel with s1 when Mike says El was still pretty even bald
If they really wanted us to believe in mi|even endgame, this would've been a perfect callback to S1 omg 🧍🏼‍♂️When they reunited outside the Nevada base he could've been like, "Still pretty. Really pretty!" Yet all their reunion consisted of was a quick hug/forehead touch (with Will clearly shown standing inbetween them). El and Will had a far more emotional reunion than El and Mike did imo. There's definitely something to the fact that they could've made mi|even infinitely more caring and built up in vol 2, yet they decided to leave it even more full of lies and misunderstanding than ever before! It's all for a reason 🤪

I’m sorry, but if you believe the only way a fictional character can achieve happiness is through a nuclear family, and you view this as “normal” then your opinion on anything is meaningless to me. The idea that that is the only way to be happy is flatter than a crêpe.
We see Kiryu at his happiest, when he’s at least got a good friend by his side and when he’s running the orphanage. It’s just so unnecessary and honestly boring to associate happiness to living the heteronormative dream. It’s the same thing with Mine when people can’t realize he’s gay. It’s the same thing with people who are mad about Majima not ending up with a certain someone and having kids with her. There’s too many fans of this series who don’t understand any of the core themes. There’s too many fans who walk in expecting the most bland story arcs.
Idk if Kiryu is going to have an inkling of a romance with someone in Gaiden or anything. All I do know is that I’m beyond tired of certain sides of this fandom whining and crying over a character not getting the trophy— ahem, the girl— like he HAS to. Like this is VITAL to everything. And that’s all I can say on that.

ive never really read any green lantern comics but your posts have made me get interested. would you say gl 1990 is a good place to start?
For a gl novice I would rec Green Lantern/Green Arrow!
It's been published in two different places
as a 7 issue limited series Green Lantern/Green Arrow in 1983 or the
which reprints Green Lantern (1960) #76-87,89 and parts of the Flash 218-219! You can also find a few different reprinted trades of these issues
Then I would read Space Traveling Heroes and then moving to the 1990 series <3 my favorite issues from the 1990 series are 48-50 but I like the other ones I've read there (still making my way through it)
