So, as I was writing Uncharted Territory, I was like, ‘I really want to see a fanart of this.’ So, I commissioned @little-lynx to draw George and Ange and Freddy for me. Aren’t they gorgeous?! This scene is from chapter 5 and it was one of my favorite chapters to write. A big thank you to Ilona for doing such an amazing job and helping bring this to life.

You can lead a fan to fanfiction but you can’t make them review

So I’ve been trying to encourage fanfic readers to review/comment more by reviewing and sharing  fanfics (Richonne, Zutara, Ichabbie, Sasil, Georglina, Tokka,) and it sadly it’s not working. Perhaps I’m being a bit too impatient, but I just don’t have the time or energy  to keep doing something no one seems interested in.

So I will finish reviewing/comment on the fanfics people already sent me, but after that I won’t be taking any more fic recs. I’m sorry.  I hate to do this because I really LOVED reading all of your fics, and knowing that I was possibly making someones day by commenting on their fics, but this project seems to me taking up too much of my time when no one else seems interested in participating.

I’m still encouraging people to comment on a ficfic if you like it. It only takes a few seconds to let a fanfic author know how much you like their story and appreciated all of their hard work. Fanfic authors don’t ask for money just a few words to let your writer know that you are enjoying  their writing.

BTS: I’ll write a DVD commentary about my personal favorite passage from Uncharted Territory

This was really hard to do because I have several scenes that I could consider my favorite in this fic. So I decided to go with the first one from chapter 2!

With a grimace, Angelina leaned forward. “I was thinking.” 

George raised his eyebrows. “Should I be scared?” 

Angelina used to say this to George/the twins all the time. They'd come up and tell her, 'We have an idea,' and her response was always, 'Should I be scared?' (They answer was usually most definitely.)

She rolled her eyes. “I like the name Frederick.” There was silence before she continued, George’s eyes fixed on the baby. “And I know you never suggested it, but I know that you wanted to name him after Fred. So, I thought maybe we’d put the two names together. It just felt right to me.” She bit her lip again. “As long as you know that this baby isn’t a replacement-”

This is really important to Angelina. She's been with George through his worst and having him hyperfixate on their son as a replacement for his twin would be a major regression in his healing journey. It's also something a younger, less mature George would have done.

“He could never be that, Angelina,” George interrupted, and no truer words could have been spoken. “No one could ever bring back what I felt for Fred. And . . . what I feel for him is nothing like what I felt for Fred.” 

He’d always thought of Fred has a part of himself, the other half to make him whole. They were a unit, perfectly in sync. Fred had been brash where he had been more reserved. Fred’s eyes sparkled with cruelty where George’s had glinted with a faint apology. Fred was captivated by the big picture while George focused on the intricate details. And then George had lost all that in one crushing moment that took him years to recover from. 

The contrast here is important. So many people think of Fred and George as the same person, but George knows better, knows the little things that make them completely separate people. When he was at his lowest, he would go out into the Muggle world, get drunk, and pretend to be Fred, but it never felt right. He could never quite convince himself that Fred was the one who was alive and he was in the grace. Then he always woke up feeling like shit the next morning. So George has to remember this, especially in a moment like this, and especially since they're considering the possibility of naming their son after his twin.

But this baby, he felt like something new — something so extraordinary that George didn’t even think his twin would understand if he were here. There was a fierce protectiveness in his chest, roaring like a lion. And he’d felt protective of Fred, too, but not like this. Never like this. The other part of him was overjoyed; so much joy that he thought he’d explode and confetti would rain down on Angelina and their baby. It was unlike anything he’d ever felt before. 

It's important here to see what exactly George feels, to see that his feelings for his son are different from those of his brother. It's also really important for him to make that distinction as well.

When he glanced back up at Angelina, she had a hard look in her eyes; pride, he thought, like when she’d won the Quidditch Cup against all odds in seventh year. She had never looked at him quite like that before.

Angelina hummed and watched as their kids went into the living room to play some card game. Roxanne plopped down in the middle of the couch with Freddy and Hunter on either side of her. When did they grow up so fast? It seemed like only yesterday her kids were running around in the backyard playing with the Woods and the Jordans. Now they were in relationships and running businesses and, for the most part, succeeding at life. It made her feel old.

“You ok?” George asked, nudging her with his elbow.

Chapter 10 Preview: 

Freddy dropped down when he saw them; George imagined the look on Angelina’s face had something to do with it. Crossing his arms over his chest, he gave them both an annoyed look, his head down and his eyes narrowed. They’d waited until the last possible moment to tell him that he was going to have a little sister, and he still hadn’t taken well to it. The only bright side was that he usually liked going over to Katie and Oliver’s so he didn’t complain much when George and Angelina were either at work or the hospital.

Katie spun around when she finally managed to make her boys sit down. She was beaming and practically shaking with excitement. Angelina and George shared an amused look.

“Do you want to hold her?” Angelina asked.

“If you don’t care,” Katie said, rocking back and forth on her heals.

Chapter 24 Preview: 

“Just thought I’d stop by,” Freddy said. He scoffed his boot into the ground.

It was plain to see that something was wrong. Freddy was never quite — neither of their kids were — and he was rarely this reserved, especially around George. When the kids were little, George had decided that he wanted them to feel comfortable talking to him about their problems. He wanted to be a judgement free zone for them, and he thought he had succeeded at that. Until now.

George glanced at his watch. “It’s past lunch for you, isn’t it?”

“Yeah,” Freddy said. “I just needed a break.”

“Everything alright down there?” he asked. “I’ll talk to Bill if I need to, set him straight.”

Freddy gave a half-hearted smile. “Yeah, everything’s alright.”

“Oh, well, that’s nice,” Angelina heard George saying. “My daughter’s playing the part of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Guess that’s kinda important, huh?”

“George!” Angelina hissed. “Sit down.”

There had been no shortage of bragging when George had found out that Roxanne had a lead role in the upcoming ballet. He hadn’t shut up about it for weeks, had brought it up at every Weasley family dinner and found ways to work it into conversations with his customers. When he’d mentioned it for the fourth time in one night, Roxanne had gone red and sunk down in her chair. Angelina made a mental note, and had been trying to get him to tone it down ever since.

“I was just telling them that Roxanne was-”

“They’ll figure that out soon enough.”
