BOOK REVIEW: PERCY JACKSON AND THE LIGHTNING THIEF
Tumblr media
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan  Fantasy and adventure  Number of pages: 416 Rating: 5 - Amazing - one of the best books I've read Spotify Playlist, curated by reviewer, inspired by this book Reviewed by: Anonymous
Percy Jackson is a halfblood. His father is Poseidon and he possesses powers. He goes to a camp for people like him to hone their skills in and meets Grover and Annabeth. Everything is good until a camper named Luke steals a Poseidon lightning bolt. The gods are angered and war might wage. Percy and his friends must get Poseidon's Lightning bolt back before it is too late.
Percy Jackson is a great book if you are looking for an action packed adventure. There is never a dull moment in the book and you find yourself rooting for Percy every step of the way. Percy and his new friends have a great connection. Grover is the comic relief and keeps things from not getting too serious. Anabeth and Percy have a great dynamic and are a great team. The overall plot of the book is great. The gods of which created  the population of the camp are angered by their very offspring. They are not happy and are teetering on a war that the world could not handle. Percy and his team leave the camp and experience the real world and how scary it can really be. It is much like in real life how if you anger your parents you must make amends. Like parents, the gods have complete power and control over their kids.
Percy Jackson is a great coming of age book. It discusses many real life experiences that you may not have experienced yet. Percy and his friends venture into the real world alone and in many ways this is a greater challenge than the actual task in hand. The antagonist in the book is Luke. The son of Hermes. Luke has a hatred of the gods. He thinks that he is just a puppet and that the gods could throw him away if they like. So he wants to get rid of the gods by starting a war. Luke is much like a rebellious son. He does not think his parents respect him and because of this he is acting out. Camp Halfblood is a great factor of the story. Much like Harry Potter, Percy is brought into a whole new world of people just like him, and because of this he feels like Camp Halfblood is his new and true home.

Rocket/Magril HCs because I’m obsessed with them!
Tumblr media
(Doodle of Rocket n Magril based on one of @glow-autumz’s Rocket/Reader scenarios lmao)
So for those wondering why Magril’s right eye is all gray, it’s because it’s a camera lens. I cant draw for shit so I didn’t do a good job making that obvious lmao but anyways! She has a personal collection of videos and photos she’s captured of Rocket via her eye. She’s definitely threatened to show the other guardians more embarrassing photos of Rocket as a joke. Whenever Rocket’s out on a mission without Magril, she would look through some of the photos and videos of him whenever she feels anxious or lonely without him.
Rocket calls Magril “whiskers” to mess with her sometimes, and in turn, Magril would bring back the “Trash Panda” nickname and he immediately shuts up. (Edit: I left it saying trans panda on accident for a while instead of trash panda. Idk why that’s so funny to me help-)
Magril helped Rocket take care of Groot 2 during his baby and teen stages. She’s become Groot 2’s surrogate mother figure along with Gamora.
They both LOVE head scratches!
Magril is the autistic gf and Rocket is the AuDHD (autistic/adhd) bf!!
One of Magril’s stims is touching/petting soft things. She LOVES feeling Rocket’s fur. Even when they’re holding paws, she traces circles with her thumb on his paw to feel the fur. When Magril is overstimulated or experiencing anxiety, Rocket lets her bury her face in the fur on his neck. Magril just finds Rocket’s fur very comforting in general.
Magril HATES her laugh, but Rocket absolutely adores it. He would go out of his way sometimes just to make het laugh. It was during Vol. 2 where he first fell in love with it. When Yondu, Rocket, Baby Groot, and Magril are on the ravager ship, in a room full of security cameras, Yondu and Rocket start laughing as they’re taking out ravager after ravager. Magril starts laughing as well. Rocket hadn’t seen her have that much fun and look so happy in a long, long time.
In the films, Rocket and Magril become official during the climax of Vol. 2. Rocket is about to leave the ship to help Quill outside. Magril was injured when the ravagers captured her and Rocket, almost killing her, so she is told to stay inside with Yondu and Nebula. Magril wishes Rocket good luck and thanks him for saving her from being killed. Rocket replies with “In the likely event this whole bomb plan backfires, here.” He suddenly kisses Magril’s cheek. “That’s for keeping me in check.” Rocket was about to turn around only to be yanked back by Magril and pulled into a kiss. When they pull away, Magril says “You better hope your plan doesn’t backfire then.”
Rocket has a hard time sleeping alone because he got used to cuddling up to Floor every night. First, Groot 1 filled that hole, but then his sacrifice happened. Magril is now the one that fills that hole.
Magril is a Dolly Parton listener and Rocket is a Glen Campbell listener!!
Mfs got matching blankets fr!!
Rocket calls Magril “Doll”, “Dollface”, “Hun”, “Sweetheart”, and “Love.” Magril calls Rocket “Rock”, “Rocky”, “Rocketman”, and “Sweetheart” and “Love”
I gotta make more at some point!! They’re so silly like aaa! *giggles, squeals, kicks feet*

Chapter 1 - Annoying assholes
Two drunk teenage boys drove recklessly down the isolated Texas roads as one held their arm out the car window and fired a gun at a mailbox, hitting it and laughing. The teen fired the gun at anything he could to cause damage.
“WOOO!” he screeched as he leaned his head out the window and aimed the gun at a “RE-FIGHT, BATTLE OF SAN JACINTO” sign and fired. The bullet hit the L in the word Battle, this caused the boy to let out a string of hysterical giggles and wheezy laughs, before aiming the gun again, this time, the bullet hit a street sign.
Soon the drunk boy fully shot down a Battle Of The Alamo. “WOO!!” The driver spat out as he took his eyes off the road “Woo! Hook them horns, baby! We are on our way to the BIGGEST party in the world!” The driver said before he looked over to his buddy. “OH YEAHH!” His buddy replied.
Meanwhile in Burkburnett Texas a young girl who went by the name of Y/n, sat in a chair, slightly dancing to the beat of the music that played through her headphones, till, the phone rang.
Y/n picked up the phone and pressed it to her ear and moved closer to the microphone that sat on her large desk.
“Red River Rock ‘n’ Roll Request Line! This is Y/n” Y/n said cheerfully through the phone and microphone as she waited for the person on the other side of the line to answer.
“This is for Glen and could you tell the girls at Mesquite High just to leave him alone?” A woman's voice rang out through Y/ns ears and a smile spread across her face. “Heh got it! And I believe it! Glen is off-Limit now! This is Y/n on a open request line on K-OKLA in Burkburnett Texas. Red River Rock ‘n’ roll, from the tippity top of the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex”Y/n said and after she did, she quickly turned the dials on her tuner and turned up the music on the next song and started to slowly dance along.
_Back in the car_
The two boys drank from two tall beer bottles before one grabbed a small hand held phone and started to dial the number for the Red River Rock ‘n’ Roll request line while the other one reloaded the gun. “Heck, let's give Y/n a call, see what she says” the driver said as he punched in the final number.
“What kind of name is ‘Y/n’ anyway?” The one with the gun said with a cackle “No idea” the driver replied.
_Burkburnett Texas_
Y/n stopped her little dance party as the phone rang again. She picked it up with a small eye roll and pressed it to her ear. “Red River Rock ‘n’ Roll Request Line! This is Y/n!” Y/n said as she looked over to the glass window, the one that L.G sat behind.
“Yo! Y/n!” A drunk voice hissed out happily over the phone “This is the one and only buzz!” the harsh voice said before another one jumped in “AND RICK THE PRICK!” the other slurry male voice said with a snarky laugh. “And from all the boys from Wheeler High to all the senior girls who are so stuck up, boy, your on the road to nowhere!” The harsh voice said.
“Oh! You mean ''We're on the road to nowhere?” Y/n asked with a peaked interest. “Noooo! Baby!  Were on the road to Texas-OU weekend in Dallas” The more drunk boy started “YOUR on the road to nowhere” He added with a hyena laugh. “Hook them horns baby! WOOO!” The driver said.
“Hmmm real funny guys you wanna hang up now? Your kinda tying up the line” Y/n said, growing impatient with the two boys on the line. “Hey…come on” Y/n added.
“NO WAY BABY!!!” Voice one said with a chuckle “We got ALOT more requests!” Voice 2 screeched out. Y/n looked over at L.G with pleading eyes, hoping hed help her hang up the call, but L.G did nothing.
_Back in the car_
“Hey check it out dude!” The driver said as he pointed the phone at a truck driving by. “Lets play a little chicken with the farmer here” He added. As he buddy laughed (god bro gets annoying-) “WOO!” The driver yelled as he turned the wheel harshly so he was driving right to the truck to the point he could have hit the driver head on.
“COME ON BABY COME ON” “COME ONN” “COME ON MAN” Both boys screamed out with laughs.
The blue truck honked its squealing horn and swerved to the left but the boys swerved too, staying head on with the truck…Soon.. The truck was forced to go off road to avoid getting hit..
“THAT WAS GREAT!” The driver screamed out before his buddy took the phone from him to keep aggravating Y/n.
“You got that babe?sweet cheeks?Dolllll facceeeee answeeerr ussss” Trying aimlessly to get Y/n to answer him.
_Burkburnett Texas_
Y/n stood there, unplugging cords, trying to get the two boys to hang up. “Yea, later Sports, just hang up okay?!” Y/n said, trying to get the two to hang up. “No way!” The man on the other side said with a string of slurred laughs.
“L.GGGGG” Y/n cried out, trying to get L.G to hurry up with disconnecting the two boys “I'm trying Darlin!” He said over his microphone that led to her room
And soon…the boys hung up but they left many other slurry comments before doing so..

A few things regarding Abomination, [werewolf au], that I feel need clarification
After infection, Andy moves in with Kyle until he can handle it on his own and because Kyle has a basement
Nica becomes a bit of an alchemist, accepting she may not be okay to hunt outwardly but she's done enough research to concoct poisons and elixirs Kyle&Andy can tip their blades and arrows with
She'll regularly fix up an elixir for Andy to take a day before a full moon that *safely* weakens the wolf (unlike what charles was doing)
Glen and Glenda are alive and are teens at this point! Trying to make it through being "half breeds" as hunters would call them
Chucky and Tiffany have actually settled, killing's mostly for date nights and their fights have reduced a bit
Charles has been turned for over 20 years now and mentors Andy from his new abilities to making peace with it
Andy still wants to rock his shit

Album Reviews: Alice Cooper / Extreme
This week I got to review some special edition reissues from the King of Shock Rock, Alice Cooper and the first new album in 15 years from Extreme! Me at age 15 is high-fiving myself for the reviews I’m getting to do this week!
Alice Cooper Killer and School’s Out Deluxe Editions
Earlier this month I got to review the live album release of the supergroup Hollywood Vampires featuring Alice Cooper. Listening to that served as a reminder that Alice truly is the King of Shock Rock! Easily! I’ve been a long time fan. I first got into him in the late 80s and soon discovered his 70s work. My Dad gave me the Marvel comic of him from the 1970s. As Wayne and Garth said to him in Wayne’s World, “we’re not worthy!” I have several of his albums in my collection, including the rare vinyl of Billion Dollar Babies, his Greatest Hits compilation and more. Through this blog, I have been lucky enough to review Alice’s 2019 EP Breadcrumbs and his 2021 album Detroit Stories. This week Rhino is releasing special deluxe editions of 1971′s Killer and 1972′s School’s Out.

Killer Deluxe Edition

School’s Out Deluxe Edition
For context, before Alice was a solo artist, Alice Cooper was a band. Formed in Phoenix, AZ in 1964, the band featured Alice on lead vocals, Glen Buxton on lead guitar, Michael Bruce on rhythm guitar and keyboards, Dennis Dunaway on bass, and Neal Smith on drums. The band brought an element of danger to rock music again by bringing their persona to their albums and bringing shock value to their stage shows that felt like bringing monster or horror movies to the rock concert experience. But the trick was, they were more than just a persona, they had a punkish garage rock sound that lived up to the hype. By late 1971, the band already had a minor hit with “I’m Eighteen” and they had released one of their best albums Love it to Death. The band’s 4th album Killer was a breakthrough album and spawned such hits as “Under My Wheels” (one of my favorites), “Be My Lover” and “Desperado”. The new Deluxe Edition features the original album, an April 1972 concert from Puerto Rico, and some alternate versions. The packaging also includes a replica of a 1972 calendar and some (ahem) killer liner notes talking with the band members. The band’s 5th album School’s Out was released about 7 months later. In addition to the big hit title song, the entire album was a concept album about school ending. The packaging replicates the original release’s album cover that is a desk opening up and they even include the panties on the vinyl. In addition to the original album, it also includes a May 1972 concert from Miami, and some previously unreleased alternative takes. The liner notes are incredible here too. When liner notes are good they’re really good and here they are quite impressive. I’ve always enjoyed these albums, but I don’t remember them impressing the way Love it to Death or Billion Dollar Babies did, but after listening to these deluxe editions I was blown away. Awesome 70s hard rock that truly comes alive on vinyl!

Extreme Six
Not too often I get the chance to review the first new album in over 15 years from a band I out and out loved when I was a teen! Let me backup for a minute: In 1985, when I was a little kid, I discovered a local band who didn’t even have a record deal yet, on V66 (Boston’s music video TV channel, 1985-86). The band was Extreme and their locally-made music video for “Mutha (don’t wanna go to school today)” was directed by a local film student, the late Scott Kalvert (who went onto become a big music video director and directed a few films including Basketball Diaries). A few years later, their self-titled debut was released on A&M Records in 1989. One of the singles off that album was a newer version of “Mutha”, which I recognized immediately! I became a huge fan and listened to them on cassette tape 24/7. The next album was really what launched them into the limelight beyond the metal crowd: Pornograffitti! People who didn’t even like hard rock or heavy metal were listening to them because of their ballad “More Than Words”, which went to #1. My favorite album of theirs was 1992′s III Sides to Every Story. In Feb. 1995, the band was getting a star on the Rock Walk of Fame in front of Tower Records in Boston and doing a signing to celebrate. My buddy and I went to the signing and the entire band (Gary Cherone, Nuno Bettencourt, Pat Badger, and their drummer at the time Mike Mangini) signed my CD of Waiting for the Punchline. All very cool guys!  The band broke up the following year and they did their own endeavors (including Cherone’s stint with Van Halen and Bettencourt’s longtime collaboration with Rihanna), but reunited periodically over the years. They reunited in 2008 for the album Saudades de Rock and tour, since then it’s been concerts here and there. That last album had big expectations considering it had been over a decade since the previous one, but it did introduce their new drummer Kevin Figueiredo. The band has had a few pop culture moments in the last few years, including Jimmy Fallon and Jack Black’s “More than Words” parody and “Play with Me” being featured on Stranger Things. Now the band is back with Six.

album cover
The band tends to get lumped in with one-hit wonders from the 90s, but they’ve sold over 10 million albums worldwide. They had a lot of catchy melodic tunes and they were one of the stand out performances of the 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. For my documentary Life on the V: The Story of V66, there was a segment about the band’s popularity on V66 and I was lucky enough to interview former Extreme guitarist Hal Lebeaux and drummer Paul Geary. The band has always been bigger than the sum of their parts, but there’s no denying the superstar in the band is Nuno Bettencourt, possibly the greatest guitar virtuoso of to emerge out of the late 80s, up there with Slash, Tom Morello and Kurt Cobain. I was lucky enough to see Extreme live in 1991, 1995 and 2009 and each time they truly brought it! Just a few months ago, I saw Joe Perry and Cherone was singing some of the songs with him and it was quite impressive! With Six, the band is truly back. I mean - WOW! This is their best album since III Sides to Every Story over 30 years ago. Guitar geeks especially will be dissecting so much of the playing. But it’s that classic Extreme melodicism that’s on full display here. There’s plenty of rockers, but it’s when they take it down a notch with songs like “Other Side of the Rainbow” and “Hurricane” where they are silencing the haters. This is going to take a few more listens to see how it stacks up with other air-guitar classics from the band, but let’s raise a glass to this triumphant comeback!

Margaritas Podridas is an alternative rock band hailing from Hermosillo, Mexico that channels the ferocity of grunge and the melancholy of shoegaze. They released their first album, Porcelain Mannequin, in 2018. After releasing a self-titled album three years later, Carolina Enriquez, bassist/vocalist for the group, sits down for an interview.
How did you start playing bass?
I started playing bass because everyone in my family played guitar, and my dad was very sexist and told me I sucked when I was just beginning at age 10. I got sick of playing guitar and started using it as a bass until I got a real 5-string bass at age 14 and started joining bands.
Who are your bass influences?
Not proud to admit it but Sid Vicious was one of the first reasons I started playing bass because I liked the Pistols and Glen Matlock's bass lines were very cool, but I liked Sid's rebellious character until I grew up and understood he was a violent asshole that very probably killed Nancy. After that I looked after other figures like Lynz from Mindless Self Indulgence because I loved her stage energy, and then of course Krist Novoselic, D'Arcy from the Smashing Pumpkins, Kristen Pfaff from Hole, and Tina Weymouth from Talking Heads. I like simple sticky playful bass lines and sick performers.
Is there a big grunge/rock scene in Hermosillo?
There were a lot of punk bands and people who listened to grunge in the 90s but they played punk and are mostly in their fifties now. They still play but only at a local level. Liking Nirvana and other mainstream bands is not considered very punk rock in Mexico. Punks in Mexico tend to listen to bands that sing in Spanish and talk about economic and political issues, ska-punk and reggae are more common.
There weren't really any other "grunge" bands that I know in Hermosillo besides tribute bands, until Margaritas Podridas came out. Other teens who also liked grunge and alt-rock started playing live, like Buzz Kill, Necromorfo, Anemona Asesina, and then other bands started getting noisier. I think we were seen as gringo wannabes because we liked those bands and most people and even other bands from the community did not take us seriously. Also because of their internalized misogyny, but once we dropped songs in Spanish and showed them we didn't give a fuck lots of new fans and media started to pay attention.
I admit there is a lot of American culture in grunge and rock in general, but that doesn't mean Mexicans can't make it or that we are only allowed to play ska-punk and sing about our shitty government. But yeah grunge bands are mostly tributes. There was a grunge band called Daisy Chain and I think there's a new band called Grunsch now.

Pamela Rooke, who became an icon of the British punk rock scene under the name Jordan, has died aged 66.
Her partner Nick wrote on Brighton and Hove News: “She died peacefully a stone’s throw away from the sea in her home town of Seaford, East Sussex in the company of her loving family at 9pm last night (Sunday 3 April) … after a short period of illness, she succumbed to a relatively rare form of cancer known as cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). Jordan was a wonderful woman and will be remembered for countless decades to come.”
With her highly imaginative makeup and clothing, Rooke was a linchpin of the London scene that produced the Sex Pistols, Vivienne Westwood and more; her daring fashion sense helped to coalesce punk’s aesthetic of leather, rubber, slashed fabric, partial nudity and other provocative styling.
Rooke got a job at Westwood’s boutique Sex in her late teens. “I was running a gauntlet every day. People were scared of me,” she later said of her daring outfits. “And the funny thing is, I was actually quite shy.” The Sex Pistols were regulars – bassist Glen Matlock worked there at weekends – and Rooke became a mainstay at Sex Pistols gigs, occasionally getting on stage.
As well as managing Adam and the Ants, she performed with them, including on the song Lou which appeared on the band’s John Peel session. She also managed Wide Boy Awake, featuring guitarist Kevin Mooney, who she married – they divorced in the mid-1980s.
One of her greatest cultural contributions was as a muse of sorts to film-maker Derek Jarman, who cast her as one of the leads in the fantastical Jubilee, playing a punk called Amyl Nitrate. She also appears in his debut film, Sebastiane.

Album Review: Blonde by Frank Ocean
Frank Ocean, boosted by his massively successful first album, Channel Orange, released Blonde in August of 2016. Personally, this album is one of my favorite albums of all time for so many reasons. The album is practically essential in any person’s array of music tastes, currently reaching 5 billion streams worldwide. My top two songs of the album would most likely be numbers 6 and 7 on the track list, Skyline To and Self Control.
Skyline To expresses the passage of time perfectly as Frank Ocean spews random, undeveloped thoughts as the song plays. As his life changes, he recognizes the change and realizes how fast things are capable of changing. The song contains a beautiful instrumental break that uses synth notes and a light beat, which reminds me of a summer-y, warm night. The song exudes something that reminds me of a memory, making it one of my favorite songs ever.
Self Control audibly sounds generally chill, with only the use of a bass guitar to keep a rhythm. However, Frank Ocean re-pitches his voice in some parts to create a squeaky, almost comical, character occasionally sings its own parts of this song and many others on Blonde. There are many theories as to why he does this, but I would say that my favorite would be that he uses this higher pitch to characterize his more feminine side to create more depth in the stories that he portrays on his tracks. The song describes the relationship between two old lovers that couldn’t work out the timing. Frank expresses his familiarity with this past relationship, which makes the song feel much more personal and the story much more somber. A beautifully layered harmony that surges and fades off as you reach the end of the song creates a feeling of acceptance and resolve.

Kou + Jackie? It’s so hard to think of someone because Goro and her are just too perfect! 💖
awww, but absolutely no! xD
Kou does love Jackie but not in a romantic way, they're friends and found siblings.
I headcanon that they were enemies in childhood, and didn't cross their ways later, as teens (that's why they didn't recognize each other on spot during that awkward attempt to steal the car). But later when they recalled those little bastards who've been fighting on Heywood's streets trying to prove that Glen >> Vista and vise versa, and throwing rocks and bricks into each other, and chasing each other on the roofs, etc etc they fell for each other immediately, but absolutely platonic xD
thank you for the ask!

Book Review 5/72
Chronicles of the Black Company by Glen Cook
Technically also a reread but it’s been 15 years so hey. (What was I doing reading this in my early teens? I was unsupervised in the library, that’s all I can say.)
Anyway, this is an omnibus edition, where I spent most of books 1 and 2 wondering why I’d been so taken by the series when I was a teen, and then book 3 hit me like a lightning bolt to the head. The answer, fwiw, is “powerful woman Hot” which shouldn’t actually surprise anyone.
The series is very popular with soldiers, and the writing reflects that: Blunt, no heroes, lots of consequences to actions. One thing that struck me was the general lack of battle scenes: Posturing and then clean up, yes, battle, no. Cook’s not out here to write stirring scenes where warriors fight in single combat--there’s a lot more stabbing done in taverns to wipe out a rebel cell.
At the same time, the writing sometimes drifts from “stylistically sparse” to “so stripped down it’s dull”, and especially in 1 and 2, it’s hard to keep going through 600 pages of “wow, humans suck.” Keep going though, because book 3 is a good payoff. (And talking rocks.)

Today we remember the passing of Don Van Vliet aka Captain Beefheart who Died: December 17, 2010 in Arcata, California
Don Van Vliet (born Don Glen Vliet; January 15, 1941 – December 17, 2010) was an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and visual artist best known by the stage name Captain Beefheart. Conducting a rotating ensemble called Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band, known separately as "the Magic Band", he recorded 13 studio albums between 1964 and 1982. His music blended elements of blues, free jazz, rock, and avant-garde composition with idiosyncratic rhythms, absurdist wordplay, and his wide vocal range. Known for his enigmatic persona, Beefheart frequently constructed myths about his life and was known to exercise an almost dictatorial control over his supporting musicians. Although he achieved little commercial success, he sustained a cult following as a "highly significant" and "incalculable" influence on an array of new wave, punk, and experimental rock artists.
An artistic prodigy in his childhood, Van Vliet developed an eclectic musical taste during his teen years in Lancaster, California, and formed "a mutually useful but volatile" friendship with musician Frank Zappa, with whom he sporadically competed and collaborated. He began performing with his Captain Beefheart persona in 1964 and joined the original Magic Band line-up, initiated by Alexis Snouffer, the same year. The group released their debut album Safe as Milk in 1967 on Buddah Records. After being dropped by two consecutive record labels they signed to Zappa's Straight Records, where they released 1969's Trout Mask Replica; the album would later rank 58th in Rolling Stone magazine's 2003 list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. In 1974, frustrated by lack of commercial success, he pursued a more conventional rock sound, but the ensuing albums were critically panned; this move, combined with not having been paid for a European tour, and years of enduring Beefheart's abusive behavior, led the entire band to quit.
Beefheart eventually formed a new Magic Band with a group of younger musicians and regained critical approval through three final albums: Shiny Beast (1978), Doc at the Radar Station (1980) and Ice Cream for Crow (1982). Van Vliet made few public appearances after his retirement from music in 1982. He pursued a career in art, an interest that originated in his childhood talent for sculpture, and a venture which proved to be his most financially secure. His expressionist paintings and drawings command high prices, and have been exhibited in art galleries and museums across the world. Van Vliet died in 2010, having suffered from multiple sclerosis for many years.

Cult since your stories take place in a completely different universe, how would you picture the characters in "real life"? Would they be identical to their movie counterparts or would they look just like that? Like, would Chucky still be burly and rock super long hair, just to clarify?
Wellll yeah I'd say they're just about the same except for some key features, yes Chucky is larger, I'm terms of height, weight and muscle, and yes his hair is really that long after growing it out. There's also his abundance of freckles that kind've just multiplied over the years, a number of scars from his human body & I believe he has some tattoo and an eyebrow piercing that's actually a staple (I'm still messing w/ his design)
Tiffany is taller and also has a significantly higher amount of freckles, which also multiplied. Some gold cracks are on her body from various accidents, old scars show on her as well but they look more like scratches or dents. Her outfit is also a bit different and I'll be drawing that soon
Glen/Glenda (applies to both) look healthier with no dark circles around their eyes, sunken cheeks or purple lips, post chiffanyverse! Seed. They look almost exactly the same, their only defining feature when they first found they parents was their hair, which Glenda's was curlier. (Seriously has anyone noticed how like, malnourished Glen looked in that movie? :( ) when they're teens, Glenda has a nose piercing and Glen a tounge piercing
Hope this is good, thanks for asking, I love talking about them :)

=== Notes: • Frat Rock is not a musical genre per se (a la: Carolina Beach Music, Belgian Popcorn, or Northern Soul), but more of an aesthetic: mid- sixties, up-tempo, party rock perfect for keggers and college parties. Not too psychedelic, soulful, or edgy. Probably coined in the wake of the success of "National Lampoon's Animal House" in 1978 but has endured as a self-contained musical genre circumscribing a particular attitude and time-frame.
• Tequila by The Champs was essentially an in-studio "jam" by LA band The Flores Trio who were in the studio recording backing tracks for Gene Autry's Challenge Records rockabilly artist Dave Dupree (aka: Dave Burgess) in December of 1957. Tune is credited to Danny Flores (sax, vox) aka: Chuck Rio. Upon the success of the single, The Flores Trio was augmented by additional players and re-named The Champs (after Gene Autry's horse, Champion) for touring and promotion. During their active period (1957-1965), The Champs had many rotating members including Glen Campbell, Jim Seals, and Dash Crofts (Seals & Crofts).
• Garage-rock standard “Have Love, Will Travel” (Sonics) was written in 1959 by Richard Berry who also penned garage-rock standard “Louie Louie” .
