#iasip #mac macdonald #s3e11 dennis looks like a registered sex offender #just rewatched this episode. god it's so good definitely in my top 10 overall in the show #the dinner scene my forever beloved i hold you close to my heart. it's so insanely satisfying from a writing perspective.#the way it all ties together and even though it's a scene about a dinner being fucking ruined and its got these #relatively high emotional stakes its so so. neatly written that it ends up feeling cathartic? in a way #idk what im saying man that scene's just really good #something about mac and charlie's scheme and motivations clashing with their parents' (and franks)#and them being kind of forced to reckon with the fact that their parents are real people with their owns wants and needs #(especially mac charlie ends up using this to his advantage and kind of betraying mac ig)#also a scene that emotional ending with a shot of charlie going Ohh and the seed has been planted is wild.#also mac being so worried about the fact that the vibe might be off... DO YOU WANT FLAT AMBIANCE???#he just wants things to be normal!! he just wants a normal nice dinner party and normal parents who are together and happy and love eo!!#also there's a motif that shows up repeatedly of him wanting to seem like a good dinner host lol just kind of noticed that idk #maybe reading into this too much but god the theme of him so often being in denial of reality in order to #live up to certain societal standards and achieve normalness.#this is kind of the first (and imo one of the best) episodes with a plot line about mac's relationships with his parents #and their family dynamic in general which i find so so fascinating.#also i think this is the only time (except for the christmas video) where we see mac's parents together.#on a lighter note ig the dinner scene has so many other great quotes... charlies so funny in it #the man doesnt blink mom the man doesnt blink!!#the charmac in this episode was so excellent in general. the car scene where they freak out and become convinced luthers going to kill them.#YOU DONT DO THAT! Me watching the og Trigun anime after starting trigun stampede 2 moths ago: oh gee those fucking cries sound so realistic and full of pain and hurt. You just dont get that kind of genuine quality very much in newer animes. I hope Stampede delivers the same quality

#gardenblr #plantblr #lemons #citrus #i LOVE this little tree it's insane #it's like 30 yrs old and has been in the same container like almost literally for all of its life yet some years it will make 20+ lemons #two years ago he looked on the brink of death. too many pests had basically eaten him alive #he was a mess of twisted branches!! I pruned him to the best of my abilities (i have no idea how to properly prune stuff)#to give every branch more areation #and cleaned each leaf by hand #killing god knows how many hundreds of weird little flies and their eggs #and how he seems to be back to doing fine!!! last year he put on SO MANY LEAVES and this years he's carring at least 20 lemons #glad to see he's back <3<3 #been dealing with citrus leafminer now (that's a new one for me) and i hate not being able to just kill bugs by hand.#it's easier and relaxing when the plant is this small (all leaves are eye level basically)#so I've been spraying neem oil + potassium soap about once a week. new leaves seem to be much less munched on so that's good!#hope he's enjoying the extra potassium stuff that falls in the ground lmao. get fertilized asshole <3 #not rayart #plantposting

even does know what plants are though. (as per doctor who canon, the way ships manage to keep oxygen on long voyages is via having literal forests in them. now, nothing to that extent, obviously, they weren’t that well-equipped or funded. but there’s definitely plants In There, probably relegated to a much more ordered existence, think the difference between a natural forest and one grown for logging.) at least they have that. they have seen plants. not often, but they have.

i don’t think they really understand plants beyond their functions (to eat, keep everyone breathing, etc.) whereas with natural beauties and animals and other such things that even has no experience with and can wonder over, they can’t really. do that with plants. the ability to admire a flower rather than immediately think of it in terms of resources lost and gained in its creation is a skill they have to learn.

but you know. at least they have seen them. that’s something. that’s slightly less depressing, right.

#even also would not know how to take care of plants. at most they know that plants require water. maybe.#their job was reconstituting the ship’s waste and recovering as much as they could and safely disposing of the rest #even doesn’t know to water plants. thank god the doctor doesn’t keep houseplants. they would die.#but i just think this would be an interesting contrast.#how easily even is taken in by things they’ve never seen before. and the few things they consider mundane. they have trouble looking at #with any emotion but Critically Thinking About How This Contributes To Us #the ever-present conflict of everything they learned to function as a part of a ship that was. not prepared. and responded to its lack of #preparedness by dehumanizing everyone on it and exploiting them until their death all for a future they couldn’t even be sure was there.#and the fact that they are delighted by the universe. they want to love it. they want to see it as beautiful. they want to escape.#and. what that means is that even thinks of flowers as wastes of space. long after they’ve gotten over a lot of their other ins #instincts about resource management and wasting it and such. they never really like flowers.#and that makes it kind of funny right? that it’s rose they have a crush on.#to them: rose is essential. so important to the doctor and so important - in their eyes - to the whole universe because of it.#idk where im going with this but its certainly a thing now #dw oc
