time for me to ramble even more
Time for my annual rambling session.I have so many ideas for this au that I feel the need to share them.Alright here we go.
Goldi & Death become...friends?-Goldi and Death are two people that many would never have expected to become friends.Death is cold, persistent and serious. And isn't too bright on social cues or understanding others yet excels in certain academic subjects. Goldi is fierce and determined who wants to be "just right".
Her grades aren't the best but is surprisingly popular with the other student to the point where she became friends with Death's sister Aurora aka Vida and Kitty Softpaws, the most popular girls in the school. But it's through a personal and meaningful chat with each other that they realize they're not that different from each other.A friendship is born from there.
Death meets the three diablos-One day for a study session with Puss, our lovely tall wolf gentleman meets the three younger siblings of Puss in boots:The three diablos,Perla the leader and the heart of the group,Gonzalo, the troublemaker of the group and the mini version of Puss, and Sir Timoteo Montenegro III,the yesman of the group and is easily distracted.
The interaction goes like this:
Perla:Who's your friend,Puss?
Puss:He's my um,acquaintance.
Gonazalo:What does that mean?
Perla:It means friend,you dummy.
Gonzalo:I'm not a dummy!
Perla:Yes,you are not!
Gonzalo:No,I'm not!*insert angry kitten fighting.Timmy is dragged into the fight.Puss questions his sanity while Death looks on in amusement.
Goldi may or may not have a crush on the new girl-Recently a girl by the name of 'Red' transferred to the school.Standing at the height of 6'2,with dark skin and curly hair,a red cloak, with black lipstick and pretty amber eyes,Red is certainly an interesting one.Goldi first met her in chemistry before class started and the two quickly got off on a good start. As the two got to know eachother even more,Goldi may or may not be developing a crush on this very pretty and very tall girl.
Kitty and Vida are definitely not trying to get them together, first Puss and Death and now Goldi and Red! Welp, then let's get these two gay disasters get together with their respective closeted bi/pan diasters.
Thank you for coming to my annual Ted Talk rambling.I will see you next time

Been thinking about Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and what makes Death the Wolf such an effective villain, and like… character design and voice acting is certainly doing a lot there, don't get me wrong, but I think there's something else at play.
Death is the most terrifying character in Puss in Boots, because he's the only one playing the genre straight.
The premise of the Shrek films has always been that they're normal, modern people living in wacky fairytale land.
The evil king uses his magic mirror as a dating app. The fairy godmother uses business cards to contact her clients. Her workers consider unionising over their lack of dental plan.
Puss in Boots 1 kinda broke the mould in that— while there are plenty of modern elements to how the characters act and how their world works— it's more specifically intended to be characters from the world Zorro living in wacky fairytale land. But the point still stands.
The aim of the Shrek films and spin-offs is to subvert common fairytale tropes for comedic effect. What if the princess fell for the ogre? What if Prince Charming was an entitled dick? What if Goldilocks teamed up with the three bears and started a crime family?
But Death? Death, for the most part, isn't playing that game.
No character questions why he doesn't just kill Puss outright. There are no gags about him being inconvenienced by Jack Horner losing so many men. Nobody makes any self-aware fourth wall breaking jokes about why he bothers with the whole whistling thing.
We all know why he does the whistling thing. It's the same reason why Little Red Riding Hood has to go through the whole "what big eyes/ears/teeth you have, Grandma" rigamarole. The same reason why the wolf takes care to knock before blowing the little pigs' houses down.
The Wolf is scary because he's the only actual fairytale creature in this entire setting. He's not bound by rules of logic or common sense, or his own will, he's bound by the narrative.
And that's also why he backs down at the end.
The first time he and Puss fight, in the bar, Puss is arrogant. The second time, in the Cave, Puss is scared out of his wits. It's the third time, on the wishing star, that Puss learns his lesson. Of course the Wolf backs down after that! The rules say he has to.
But, on another level, there is also the issue of Puss realising that he wants more from his life than just to be a legend.
They say "legends never die", but the most famous part of any given legend tends to be the story of how the hero finally bites the dust.
And "he was such a great fighter that Death himself had to kill him off, personally!" is just the sort of ending that would fit the legend Puss has constructed around himself. In a sense, the Wolf is giving Puss exactly what he proclaims to want— the chance to go down in history.
Puss realising he doesn't want that anymore is the catalyst for sending the Wolf away. Through his own egotistical and reckless attitude, he turned himself into a story and thus summoned a narrative device. Only by choosing to value his life over the legend is he able to escape that trap.
The Wolf's defeat is both the natural ending of the story that he and Puss have been playing out since the film began, and a rejection of the natural ending to the story Puss has been telling about himself since he first became the hero of San Ricardo.

the "classic" villain
some ppl try to defend totk ganondorf’s one-dimensional characterization by arguing that he’s meant to be a “pure evil”, “classic” villain. now, personally, i’m not entirely opposed to having ganondorf just be an unhinged evil guy – in my opinion, part of what makes him great is the fact that he can do it all, he can be the tragic fallen hero, the sympathetic anti-villain, the remorseful old man who can’t give up the ghost of his ambitions, and also the magnificent bastard who enjoys terrorizing hyrule bc they kinda had it coming, let’s be real here. pure evil villains are fun, that’s why i love sukuna from jujutsu kaisen, he’s just an absolute unapologetic menace.
but the thing about “pure evil” or “classic” villains is that they still have to make sense. take, for instance, big jack horner from puss in boots: the last wish, a character who some have smugly pointed to as an example of a “real villain” that’s supposedly rare nowadays. the main point of jack horner is that he’s an asshole, a real piece of shit who’s uninterested in redemption or helping others, despite the best efforts of his jiminy-cricket inspired companion. jack horner is fun and adds some variety to a film that also has a sympathetic antagonist who experiences growth (goldilocks) and a force-of-nature antagonist who absolutely steals the show (death). but jack horner still makes sense; he’s an over-privileged man-child who wanted for nothing and therefore feels entitled to everything, and he’s also spiteful bc pinocchio upstaged him that one time. plus, jack horner is funny, so that’s a bonus.
same goes for every other classic villain that people like, whether it’s the old-school disney villains or the bad guys from classic cartoons. pure evil villains still have to be coherent and understandable in some way. that doesn’t mean their reasons have to be good – in fact, i think pure evil villains are basically defined by NOT having good reasons to justify their actions. but they still need to have reasons.
but totk ganondorf? this dude makes no damn sense. why does the king of the gerudo, out of all people, become king of demons? it might as well have been the king of gorons or zora or rito who turned evil. why did the gerudo support his conquest of hyrule only to turn against him once he transformed into the demon king? where did he get his powers from? how and why did ganondorf, of all people, reach the conclusion that hyrule must be bathed in eternal darkness, and why is he so dedicated to this goal that he’s willing to sacrifice his own mind and body to achieve it? what, exactly, is driving this man? you can’t call him selfish because again, he’s willing to permanently damage himself to attain his goals, that shows he’s bound to a higher cause. but there’s no explanation for why he, of all people, has chosen this particular cause.
and sure, the fandom can speculate and try to use the lore to fill in the gaps, but the fact that there are such big gaps in the first place is totk’s biggest failure, in my opinion. if people have to look at lore guides to make sense of your villain, then you’ve failed as a storyteller.
totk ganondorf might have made more sense as just a monster that spawned from the Depths rather than a man who was born among the gerudo. maybe the zonai dug around too deep and activated the Depths’ defense mechanism, and boom, ganon emerges, furious at the surface world that has dared to intrude upon his domain, and determined to return the favor by covering the land of light with darkness. he’s still a monster who must be defeated but at least there would have been some logic to his actions.

Goldi (Puss In Boots) X GN! Reader
Characters: Goldilocks, Baby Bear, Mama Bear and Papa Bear (Puss In Boots).
Tags: Fluff, family dynamics, robberies/heists, physical affection, sibling bickers and teasing.
Warning: None. SFW.
A/N: Yes, I went to see Puss In Boots: The Last Wish TWO times in theatres. Yes, I love Goldi and her family and yes she almost stole the movie from everyone. Sue me! XD
Tumblr media
Goldi is definitely someone who will show off to her lover.
If you tag along on a heist, she’ll perform tricks and deliver playful banter like there’s no tomorrow.
Hope you’re ready for her family to tease you on and off expeditions.
Though you’re allowed on missions, Goldi will try her best to make sure you don’t get hurt or killed.
If she sees a single scratch on you, she’s going feral on who caused it.
For the most part, Goldilocks is someone who is playful in public, especially when she’s making a great heist with her family.
Behind closed doors on the other hand? She’s like a big grizzly bear of love.
She’ll snuggle into you when you spend the night at her place.
If you’re too cold, she’ll hold you close and warm you both up as much as she can.
If you’re too hot, she’ll make sure to do anything to cool you off.
Due to being new to dating, she’ll always ask her Mama and Papa advice on how to be a good girlfriend for you.
Even if they assure her she’s already perfect, she’ll still ask for ways to impress and woo you.
Yes, Baby teases and messes with you a lot. Yes, Goldi beats him up everytime.
If you are of royalty, Goldi can’t promise she’ll live up to expectations.
But she does promise to try her best to be proper around others for you.
For how long though is the real question.
No matter what, if you two are dating, you better pass the vibe test with her family.
If you fail, there’s no way they’re letting you near their family.
And if you pass, then good news! You can be Goldi’s lover and a part of the family!
Goldi’s love language is physical affection and gift giving.
If you perform and accomplish a huge robbery just to get a priceless jewel for Goldi, she’ll be wanting to ask for you hand in seconds!
And if you hug her tight and give her the sweetest of kisses, she’ll become putty.
Goldi will go through thick and thin with her family just for you.
You make her heart swell up so much.
You’re too nice.
You’re too sweet.
You’re just right.
Likes and retweets are highly appreciated! I love you all, stay safe and have a good day! <3

Jen Tortures Herself With Every Dreamworks Animated Movie Ever: Puss In Boots: The Last Wish
Tumblr media
Holy shit, ya'll, holy shit. This movie, THIS FUCKING MOVIE is probably one of the most insanely BEAUTIFUL, expertly crafted MASTERPIECES, not just from Dreamworks, but from any studio EVER. Like what the hell, how did they DO THIS? How did they take a sequel to a decent, but somewhat forgettable spinoff movie and turn it into something THIS FUCKING GREAT? It's utterly unbelievable, and yet absolutely magical in every way. So let's get into me gushing about how much I adore this movie because how can I not?
After losing the eighth of his nine lives, Puss falls into something of a slump, until he hears word of a magical Wishing Star. Hoping to use the star's power to get his nine lives back and escape from the (utterly terrifying) clutches of Death, he once again teams up with Kitty Softpaws, and a new addition to the group, the adorably innocent Perrito, to brave the Dark Forest and find the Star. However, they're not alone in the race to the star, as Big Jack Horner and Goldilocks and the Three Bears are all determined to beat Puss and crew to it and take the wish for themselves.
Tumblr media
So there's like... so much happening in this movie, you'd think it'd be a jumbled mess of characters and plotlines with nothing getting the focus that it should, and yet... I don't know how they did it but everything just... fits so perfectly here? The pacing is some of the best I've seen in any movie, all the plot beats and scenes go on just long enough and everything flows so naturally and right? The charactesr are all given so much depth and time to just interact here, and not just our leads either (I'll get into that more in a sec). At no point does anything feel like its dragging and at no point does anything feel like its going by too fast. I don't know how they did it, but it all feels, in the words of Goldi and the Bears, just right.
Tumblr media
As for our characters, Puss is just as great as always here, with a really compelling arc of him learning to value his life and the people in it. Kitty herself has a good arc too of learning to trust as her and Puss rekindle their relationship. Perrito is absolutely precious and adds this genuine sweetness and heart to an otherwise grizzled and world-wary duo. Goldi and the Three Bears are absolute standouts though, like oh my god, ya'll oh my god the feels I had for this sad little orphan girl and her theiving bear family? I want an entire series or spinoff movie about them, Dreamworks, PLEASE I'm BEGGING you, I need MORE of this beautiful little found family!
Tumblr media
We have two villains here, and both are pretty great in their own right! Jack Horner is our more traditional insane villain played for laughs (the fact that he's voiced by John Mulaney helps) and he's pretty funny while also being appropriately sinister and ruthless, making him effectual to boot. But then there's Death and holy shit, if this movie had come out when I was a kid, I think this wolf would have had me pissing my pants because he is terrifying. Like seriously, hands down, the scariest villain in any Dreamworks movie by both design and in terms of just the way he moves, the way he speaks, his eerie whistling any time he enters a scene? No wonder Puss has multiple panic attacks when faced by this motherfucker, because honestly, I would too.
Tumblr media
The themes of this movie are all so wonderful as well, from the ones I mentioned above (learning to value life, trust, found family, etcs), but I think its overaching message is absolutely beautiful and shines its way through all of its various subplots. The idea that sometimes, the thing you're wishing for most is something you already have. Like damn, Dreamworks, hit me hard with that kind of beautiful, inspiring truth.
Tumblr media
Also fucking hell, the ANIMATION??? IS UNREAL??? This is by and large the most BEAUTIFUL movie dreamworks has ever made, with such a unique and vibrant style that makes everything feel so... dreamlike, I'd say. The texture work here is so complex and yet so simple, the backgrounds are so intricate and colorful, the MOVEMENT IN SOME OF THESE FIGHT SCENES? Insane, unbelievable, Idk how they did it, but they DID it, and it's GORGEOUS. Also so is the music! The score SLAPS, especially in those fight scenes and also I just gotta say, Favorite Fearless Hero? Gonna be stuck in my head for a week. I ain't even mad about it.
Tumblr media
So yeah, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is probably one of the single greatest things Dreamworks has ever made. It just hits in every way, an excellent ride from beginning to end with a story that flows so well, characters that are just a delight to watch, animation and music that practically make me foam at the mouth, gah, its just... perfect. Truly, utterly perfect. (Or Purrfect, if you want to be catty about it (ok, I'll stop).
Overall Rating: 10/10
Verdict: Have a realistic depiction of a panic attack

I'm thinking about animating Monkie Kid characters over Puss In Boots: The Last Wish scenes
If I get the right device to animate on I would actually do it! Here are the characters I casted for their roles:
Monkey King/Sun Wukong = Puss In Boots
Macaque =Kitty Softpaws
Demon Acountant = Goldilocks
Jin = Baby Bear
Yin = Papa Bear
Their mother = Mama Bear
Chang'e = Gingy from one of the scenes where Puss died
Strong Spider = The spotter from one of the scenes where Puss died
Azure Lion, Peng & Yellow Tusk = The dogs from one of the scenes where Puss died
Somone suggested Sandy as Mama Luna so I go with their suggestion.
So how do you feel about these choices? I will cast more characters as soon as new ones release.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and yes I'm late, so sue me
I wasn't going to watch any of the PiB movies but I heard 'Death' was a character, so
First two minutes: It's GORGEOUS and here's an entire post of me freaking out over the visual mastery of this film
Tumblr media
If I'd seen this in theatres today I'd get kicked out for gasping so much
I can't even
Tumblr media
The animation style is so beautiful I'm gasping out loud and had to stop three minutes in to begin this post, it's wild. The particles - !
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THE TEXTURE OF THE LEATHER HAT. THE ANIMATORS ARE FLEXING AND THEY ARE FLEXING HARD.
Tumblr media
Every single frame of this film is a goddamn work of art. Look at the stars on the wooden ceiling. Look at the lighting.
Tumblr media
Even the reflection in the glass, holy shit
Tumblr media
They need to stop flexing before I have a frickin heart attack here
Also thank you for putting actual blood and not just a reddish cut, actual dripping blood, thank you :)
Tumblr media
This is such a love letter to animation and art and I'm here for it
Tumblr media
The scene transitions are absolute *chef's kiss*
THEY ACTUALLY *BEEPED* OUT A SWEAR WORD it's a third of the way through and this is my new favorite movie
Each glitter particle glistens in its own moment, I cannot
I feel like a lot of modern movies have some weird fear of putting genuine color into a film. WELL NOT HERE FOLKS. ABSOLUTE PSYCHODELIC COLOR EXPLOSIONS THROUGHOUT.
Tumblr media
What the fuck, that escalated quickly
Tumblr media
SIR WHAT ARE YOUR QUALIFICATIONS?
THe dog has a potty mouth and every swear word is BEEP'd out and he swore a LOT
I love how all of the characters just rant the fuck off in Spanish when they get mad
I didn't see the other Puss movies but Softpaws?? Was declawed at some point?? That's so mean?? that's literally amputations omg her poor hands
And she left Puss at the altar at the same time that HE left HER at the altar, these assholes deserve each other at this point because absolutely nobody else will put up with either of them on a serious level
Tumblr media
except for the dog, who deserves the world. LOOK AT HIM
Tumblr media
Kitty wasn't going to wait for a egocentric asshat to put down his ego for her, YOU GO GIRL
somebody put the puppy in a sock and tried to drown him omg
he has the saddest backstory but he's just happy to have his life and his friends, whereas Puss had nine lives and didn't appreciate any of them, okay, I get it now
The dog actually calmed Puss down from a panic attack and you could hear his heartbeat calming and it was really sweet
Tumblr media
The framing of this film is fantastic. Also, Death? Actual Death? The thing that Puss wasn't aware he was afraid of or even needed to be afraid of yet was running from his entire life? Such an incredible villain
Tumblr media
I can't concentrate on anything else about the movie because everything is just so goddamn pretty.
Tumblr media
The movements and the visuals are just a little bit choppy and a little unfinished, making every still look like a painting. It's so stylized and wonderfully so
Tumblr media
jesus christ what a visual callback
Okay movie's done and I can talk now
THE CAT LADY i love her <3
I appreciate that Goldilocks finally accepted her family but it's okay to want other things, I think, as long as you're not taking for granted what you currently have. That said, they're definitely going to have to talk it out because stuff like that doesn't just go away with a quip and a new business plan
One that note, the fucking cricket was hilarious. John Mulaney's character was a riot and I appreciate the cricket giving up on him as a bad job.
I was worried about Death's defeat being a bit of a cop-out but it wasn't. Death was angry that Puss was given so many lives and appreciated exactly none of them, thinking himself invincible forever, not understanding consequences because they never really applied to him, so they decided to cheat and take his last one early. But Puss accepted his mortality and began to appreciate his last life properly, so Death let him live it. It was done well.
I don't really like the 'tough girl no trust femme fatale love interest' thing, I think it's tired and overwrought, so Kitty wasn't my favorite, but I liked her anyway. And I liked that she's able to poor-little-meow-meow Puss when he least expects it.
The doctor scene where we went through each of Puss's lives was storyboarded so beautifully, even the title cards were gorgeous
the fight scenes are so pretty
I can't do anything besides gush over how fucking pretty this film was, I'm useless
Anyway watch the film, it's just a masterpiece and the music was fantastic and I loved the whole thing

Okay, I haven't even seen Puss in Boots: The Last Wish yet but...
I am so tempted to write about Muerte/Death with a Little Red Riding Hood reader, that's with been cursed to be a werewolf (some way or another) or just a human and he's the "big bad wolf" from their story, and he takes a liking to them. I have ideas of the reader being a kid, teenager, and adult (or even a love interest *wink* *wink*)
(I also have ideas for reader being adopted into the Goldilocks and the Three Bears family but I'm hooked on the Muerte/Death character rn)

— THE ANIMATION AND ARTSTYLE USED FOR THE VISUALS
Tumblr media
The amazing use of both 2D and 3D elements mixes perfectly with the animation and the art style and it really reminds me of the animation of Into the Spider-Verse. Everything’s an eye candy and wallpaper-worthy. The vibrant colors and the lighting?? The visuals and the background art, they're just so GORGEOUS! Like you can see those little paint brush strokes on some parts of the film. You know the movie’s gonna be good when they apply this kind of style. This movie is an absolute masterpiece. *chef’s kiss*
— THE WORLD BUILDING
Tumblr media
OKAAAAY I WILL NEVER GET OVER WITH THE WORLD BUILDING ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY WENT TO THE DARK FOREST— it’s just so hilarious when Puss and Kitty got depressing and dangerous path/terrains while Perrito got the easiest path because he’s a carefree and cheerful pure-hearted therapy dog who sees the positivity in life (despite his sad “funny story” like he said) and it really shows that whoever possesses the Star Map judges the character of those who holds it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
— CHARACTER DESIGN
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Can we talk about Goldilocks’ character design? I really, really love how they designed her— like every details of her design reflects the way she got raised by her bear family. You see those mismatched earrings? They resemble Mama Bears different earrings. Her necklaces? Baby Bear also got a chain necklace. And the faint scar she got on her left eyebrow later on? Now it resembles Papa Bear’s scar on his left eye. Okay I love this her golden blonde hair so much. It really fits her name ESPECIALLY her two huge buns resemble like bear ears! Her outfit got dirtied in the dark forest making it look brown, like her family's brown fur plus she got those little fangs omg. She's so cute but she can also kill you. TvT
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jack Horner, okay this chaotic huge man got pink hair and chubby cheeks. He’s got the perks alright? Hear me out, his pink tie resembles an icing piping cream pastry and he got those small printed pies on his purple vest. He BIG.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally, this big bad lobo himself and his name is DEATH, like literally. He’s the Grim Reaper of Shrek Universe. His design freaking SLAPS! Oh man, this brooding wolf deadass got the hardest drip for me ngl. The black poncho fits him perfectly for a grim reaper like him. The fact that his eyes always stand out making him look even more intimidating and menacing. We all know that the universal look of Grim Reaper is a skeleton in a long black cloak with his scythe while DreamWorks made Death as a wolf with his signature dual-sickles (likely as a reference for Grim Reaper’s Scythe), for me it’s an interesting detail because his main target was Puss in Boots coming to punish him for recklessly wasting away his past eight lives mainly because he’s a cat, and wolves are known for being a natural predator. Not to mention, he was always there whenever Puss dies. He was so patient enough to finally get to his prey. Another interesting detail of him is the dark part of his fur in his face, donning a skull-like shape because he’s literally the Grim Reaper. Overall, he’s 12/10 for me and my most favorite antagonist so far.
— THE LESSONS BEHIND PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH
Tumblr media
Sometimes whenever we wish for something that we want, we didn’t realize that thing we were wishing for was already there all along.
Puss himself already learnt his lesson to value his remaining ninth life at the end of the movie because every ounce of moment in our lives are precious and we need to appreciate them fully. We will never know when our time comes. As Perrito said to Puss, having one life in enough.
Sacrificing your personal needs to save someone you truly love and care about. Like how Goldilocks ditched the Wishing Map when she was one way of granting her wish and instead, she helped saving Baby from disappearing to the Star Wall.
Tumblr media
...and they lived happily ever after.
