Late Bloomers
Bought these gorilla tulips last year and planted them quite late in the season. Wasn't expecting anything to grow but here you go!

Fiance and i left the house at 7am intending to go to the Minnesota state fair, but when we finally got there, there was no parking left and 10 bajillion people flooding through the front gates, so we decided to go to Como Zoo instead, which was blessedly free of sardine crowding.
These are the best photos i got:
In that last pic, the sign in front of me says not to pose for photos in that room. If i didn't, would i be the sassy nerd??
I'm especially proud of the polar snoot boop shot. I honestly thought i hadn't caught it 'cause it happened so fast.
Bonus koi (this golden fella was about 14 inches long, the biggest in the pond and the only one with wisdom whiskers):

The "Old Money" Aesthetic
The social media "old money" aesthetic is so ridiculously new money it's hilarious to me. Actual old money aesthetic is being full Goblin mode all the time while living in basically a palace. You wear great grandma's Hermes scarf as a bandana while you weed the garden because old money's least favorite activity is having to actually shop for anything. A real old money look are like a stained, misshapen cashmere sweater and dirt caked gum boots. The old money car is like a reliable, four wheel drive hatchback that is absolutely caked in mud and dog hair. Old money aesthetic is letting your 10 giant hounds chew the leg off a priceless antique writing desk and not bothering to have it repaired until you need to write something because you literally have never given a shit. Old money aesthetic is having no fear of death because you've literally never thought about it. You will go fistfight a gorilla because you are bored. You have never had to worry about anything ever or consider what anyone thought of you and so you're just... fully doing whatever. You are busy breeding a new species of begonia and are profoundly inbred but in a weirdly strapping hearty way.
I'm from that world peripherally and like... people don't understand that never having to consider what anyone else thought about you or about anything really profoundly psychologically affects you in weird ways.
One story that illustrates this is my ex-husband's family was friends with a very old Earl, and the new money section of the family was showing off their daughter to the town worthies, and she was at law school and the Earl was there reading a newspaper, and someone asked the girl "Do you have a boyfriend at university?" and she was like "Oh goodness no!" and the Earl puts down his paper and says "Well, I did, he ran off with the butler, his wife was furious, of course it could never have worked between them being from different classes and all" and that's what old money's like. Incidentally that was a man in his 80s, and this was like ten years ago so... you can imagine when that was
