FOOL MASK (GITM BY @venomous-qwille)

Handbuilt porcelain with slip, overglaze, glaze, and gold lustre accents. Paint and lacquer detailing added post fire. Handsewn fool's cap and bells added post fire.

This mask is a part of a (loosely connected) mask series, all hand-built and fired using a range of different temperatures and techniques.

My favourite mask to date, Fool from Ghost in the Machine by the wonderful @venomous-qwille !! GITM is absolutely incredible and I cannot put into words eloquently how much I adore it and Fool so instead I made this mask! Hi!

My word was this mask a struggle to make. The mask itself is entirely one piece, and entirely porcelain!! That's right, those long thin rays are solid porcelain!! The eyes and tips of the blades are done in 22 carat gold lustre. All colouring save for the black and the satin sections of darker red on the face were done with only slips and underglazes. The red colour was correct without the paint, but I thought a contrast from the rest of the gloss would look nice :)

Made to scale, the mask measures 50.8x60.96cm without the hat, and 50.8x116.84cm with it! (20x24in without hat, 20x46in including hat). He is Large, but turned out absolutely lovely and I send my many many thanks to the kiln gods for producing him unscathed.

The Mac/Dennis Narrative

Dennis gets off on changing who he is as a person, but he needs the audience to believe him and then find him out, that's when he really gets off. When everyone believes he's the person he's not, and they feed into his narrative, that's what gets him going, but what hits for him is the reveal, when he's caught.

The beginning of Mac's journey with being "gay" was Vic Vinegar, being in a (pretend) relationship with Dennis where they aren't themselves. We see Dennis enjoy the thrill when they're around other people and Vic is aggressive, others believe them. Others don't know, but Mac knows, it's thrilling for Dennis, but it's not getting him off, because he can't be caught.

Mac's first step toward anything gay, when that part of him was completely buried deep, was a relationship with Dennis where Dennis wasn't Dennis, and there's a spark. So Mac learns that he gets to have Dennis when they're not themselves, and they both enjoy it.

When the (pretend) relationship continues years later, Dennis shows up and he's not himself, so Mac doesn't want to be either; let's go there again. But Dennis tells Mac he has to be himself, right at the very beginning, meanwhile Dennis wasn't himself, he was Brian. This was different.

So if Mac wants Dennis, he's in a relationship with Brian. He can be himself, he has to be himself, but Dennis can't be Dennis, Dennis is Brian. And Mac gets Dennis (as Brian), so he's okay with it, he'll create the narrative for them, where Dennis isn't himself and he can get off.

Mac is perfectly happy to pretend for the rest of his life. If he gets Dennis, and he's himself, this is what it'll be, he'll be with Brian.

But Mac knows this is Dennis, he can't keep the ruse up properly because he knows he's with Dennis not actually Brian, they're just playing pretend and he keeps slipping up because he's still Dennis to Mac. And Dennis never thought he was convinced, obviously, Mac created this narrative, Dennis was involved in something else.

Dennis leaves him. Mac couldn't hold up the narrative, he couldn't be Brian's lover, Mandy was. Dennis was caught, by the narrative playing alongside Mac, that Dennis had another. Dennis dragged along his own narrative as it built, and then he was found out. Mac was on the wrong side and Dennis left, Mac had failed to hold up the narrative and Dennis got caught in another one.

Now they're in a (pretend) relationship again, except this time, Dennis has created the narrative for them, without Mac. Mac doesn't know about this one, it's all Dennis. This is Johnny, he says he's Johnny, so he's Johnny and Mac is happy and fine that it isn't Dennis.

So when the reveal hits, it's not real to Mac. He's dating Johnny, not Dennis, he's over Dennis, that's gone and it can't be. But Dennis pushes, insists.

So maybe Johnny is Dennis, but if he is, then he's not Dennis. Mac and Dennis don't work when they're both themselves, that's not what the narrative is. If they're Mac and Dennis and they're in a relationship, that's real. Dennis will reject him, Dennis will leave, so Dennis isn't Johnny, even if Johnny is Dennis. Mac needs to hold up half of the narrative. Something fictional must exist if he wants it to survive.

He doesn't want to hear it, he can't hear it. Mac can't know. For his own good he can't know that Dennis is Johnny, lest he lose that too. So he'll go. Mac only gets to have Dennis when they're not themselves: so he'll go to Johnny, knowing he's Dennis, but he can't be with Dennis, knowing he's Johnny. That's the story, and he desperately needs it to continue.

Dennis isn't doing this just to get Mac out of the house, be-fucking-for-real, no. He's building up to getting off. He's wearing another man's skin, he has control over Mac, they're together but they're in his narrative this time, and he was building up to something.

Dennis is dropping hints, that's how you know he's getting off, he has been dropping hints, leaving a subtle trail for Mac to pick up on, connections between "Johnny" and himself, and he wanted to get caught so he could get off. He uses his own phone for it all, the app, the texts, everything on his personal phone, he wanted to get caught.

But he blew himself up because he couldn’t continue to drag Mac along knowing he was in love, in love with him again, and in complete denial about it, again. Now Mac knows, he has to know, but he'll continue to deny it's true because he let the narrative die once again, and if Dennis knows he knows, they're done, and Dennis can’t get off, because he wasn't caught.

They created this narrative together. Then Mac roped Dennis into his own, and they failed, then Dennis roped Mac into his own, and they failed. Stuck in the toxic cycle of trying to get what they want without saying what they want, because they can't admit that what they need is to be in the narrative together.

milgram prisoners "fur"sona hcs

haruka - rhetus periander butterfly! i think his dislike of animals would lead to him not really being comfortable with having a mammal, so i gave him an insect 1. because of muu 2. i think the colours match him 3. the butterflies in all knowing and all agony. 4. theyre found around forests and water :) (TO BE READ EVILLY)

yuno - rabbit, mantis, or lamprey! for rabbit it's because people tend to see them as just cute pets but theyre actually quite mean at times and a lot of effort has to be put into genuinely taking care of them. also the reproductive cycle theyre known for whatever. praying mantises yeah its the "eating their mates" thing, also because of her covering "sticky bug"! she also just generally reminds me of a mantis for some reason. lampreys because of "the vampire" and because draining blood, draining warmth etc. they also slightly resemble umbilical cords! fuuta - fire breathing dragon. its bright red. self explainable (salamander, fire...) but also because of his knight motifs! ive also considered a wolf for him bc i think it'd be funny if both kotoko and fuuta had wolves but i think him being a scalie fits more muu - wasp. she thinks its a bee that she's designed. she is wrong. wasp because of "its not my fault", the fact wasp species can be "social" or "solitary", and the fact wasps kill bees. i can also see the argument for just a bee though! especially since once bees sting you they die afterwards shidou - a bird of paradise :). double meaning with the fact it shares the name with a flower. also because i think being one of those rly fancy birds is just like him. "birds of paradise" also has origins in "birds of God". like "aesculapius"! and amane! some birds of paradise also drink nectar from flowers. i hope he flies into a window (ive also considered vulture, crow, raven, and dove (just because of 0507- shidou sees kazui tear a dove apart with his teeth and goes "god i wish that was me", changing his avian instantly)) mahiru - capybara!! friends with everyone even crocodiles. just having fun. classified as rodents (if i was mahiru's boyfriend i would have just eaten the rat rip to him but im different). those images of capybaras with citrus fruits on their head. also she just reminds me of a capybara generally kazui - cat! i dont think i have to explain anything for cat. he would have a nebelung cat specifically though. also hey did you know cats hunt birds- amane - cat as well. sorry. i actually dont really know what breed of cat amane's fursona would be- maybe abyssinian? some sort of tabby? mikoto - has two or three fursonas depending on if you're into the trikoto theory. theyre all very bright neon colours. mikoto has a greyhound, john has a jackal, "green" has an ibizan. all three of these canines are thought to be the inspiration behind anubis, egyptian god of taking care of the dead and acting as a protector for them. anubis is also described as a "gate guardian"! hey. hey wait a fucking secon- (i also just think itd be rly funny for mikoto to be able to merge fursonas with john + "green" and make cerberus) kotoko - i dont think you need my input for this one. go watch deep cover and skip to the end idk. i DO associate her with the hyper realistic 4k hd most beautiful art youve ever seen werewolf images specifically though. i like to think she'd be like "my wolf fursonas colours and design have to be REALISTIC. not like MIKOTO'S or FUUTA'S" and then she turns around and gives it red eyes and her exact hairstyle
