as previously mentioned, eventually, hardison won’t be the only one doing his new line of work; he’ll train them up. he'll have a small but dedicated team of chaotic good geniuses. he names them tikkun, meaning "to repair," referencing tikkun olam, "the obligation to repair the world around you" (as brilliantly suggested & defined by @piratedykes).

he is doing his george clooney satellite monitoring and the group has a reputation because boy do NGOs and nonprofits and activists and community organizers like to fucking gossip about shit especially when it goes right?? or rather, one person in one org's fundraising team will reach out to their counterpart in another org and be like...... yo you were frantic last week about [challenge] and how you have to raise like a bajilliion dollars in emergency funds and also ideally take down a warlord but you will settle for money for water and first aid, and i havent heard from you but.... your org's twitter is like, popping right now and it looks like [challenge] has evaporated?? how??? are you okay the hell.

and second fundraising officer is like...... it.......... is good. its been the weirdest wildest week but its good.

and the first officer is like............. no wtf do not leave me like this. how did you do it.

listen. can't say more. but if everything ever really really goes to shit, and i do mean really, just... consider applying for the rapid response flexible spending grant from the tikkun fund (NOT the tikkun olam foundation, different folx). lets just say that $850 from tikkun goes a long long way.

and the first officer looks it up, and the fund has a boring but efficient website. the fund is barely three years old but they have a small but mighty giving portfolio of tiny tiny orgs like their own, and when this first officer rubén follows through and delves deep into the orgs...... they notice..... wow these folks really had....... a suspicious amount of good luck swing their way at very critical moments.

rubén sits back and is like. huh. okay. weird. but they trust their friend and they keep the tikkun fund in the back of their mind. and one day, yup, theres a fucking crisis and god, god [their community] needs money and the situation is not a blip on anyone's radar outside [their community] but this matters too! and rubén remembers that little fund and yeah, $850 can't fix it next to nothing but that's $850 they desperately desperately need. and luckily the application is super short and rubén gets the vibes their reporting requirements are gonna be super quick and easy as well. so they submit it and then they go and turn around to shake money from somewhere anywhere and.... by the end of the business day, they are wrapping up because they've already worked three hours late and they havent eaten since lunch aka an old granola bar in the back of their file cabinet, and....... what. is that........... yeah. their tikkun fund application has been accepted with clear instructions about how they can proceed to get payment. and rubén wants to cry god god okay.

and rubén sends a quick email to this alec hardison (he/him/mr. but please alec is fine) thanking him profusely and so earnestly, cc'ing wyn the org's executive director. rubén goes home and Do Not Disturb's their work stuff and is ready to start it all over the next day.... but. when they get to the office, they find out wyn has organized an emergency meeting looking... confused and hopeful and so wildly excited. there's a guy next to her dressed smart, but what really stands out with his eyes: they are kind and welcoming but there's a coy twinkle in them like he's got a secret he's itching to share.

and wyn is like. hey so. this is alec hardison and blah blah introduction stuff. (and rubén is like omgggg internally) we spoke last night, and mr hardison's agreed to come on pro bono with his team to assist us and... okay. okay imma be real here for a moment. there's some stuff that's gonna be on the down low here on out and if you don't want part of it, you can take leave for the next week or two we will give you space, but... we know what will happen if shit continues and im not standing for it. i hope you will join me, but you won't be forced. and she turns to please-just-alec who thanks her and turns to the exhausted team and says:

Despite what John had suggested, Ringo didn't go back to The Helter Skelter the following week; he'd considered it when John sent him yet another late night text but ultimately decided it wasn't the best idea. Spike had been playing on his mind daily and Ringo wasn't sure he was prepared to face him again. Instead he focused on his drumming and searched for a few more students to teach, which were fairly easy to find. Usually Ringo enjoyed his time off, he understood he was lucky that he didn't have to work a 9-5 job just to get by, but recently he wanted his fill his time up as much as possible, to distract himself.

One of his new students seemed incredibly interested in him, they'd spent an hour just chatting in his living room before they'd even moved over to the drum kit. Ringo wasn't too fussed, he was getting paid by the hour so wasting time was beneficial to him but he didn't want to give the guy the wrong impression. He was a little bit older and attractive enough but Ringo simply wasn't interested.

"Why didn't you just go for it?" John had asked him when they next met up.

"I dunno..." Ringo mumbled, but a part of him knew very well.

He'd given the guy another lesson since then and it became clear that the guy's interest in him wasn't going away any time soon. Ringo felt bad about the whole thing, wasn't he just doing exactly what Spike was doing to him? He tried to act as professional as possible the second time around in attempt to get the guy to back off, considering he hadn't heard from him since he was hoping it had worked. What was wrong with him? Was he really going to make himself suffer like this all because of one guy? And not just any guy, a stripper who had shown absolutely no interest in him at all. It was ridiculous, he kept telling himself, but no matter how much he tried to convince himself that he had to get over Spike, he would still think about him every day without fail. Trying to distract himself with clients had been working somewhat, but it had been difficult, especially when his best friend was John Lennon.

Ringo stared at the link for a while, his eyes even began to blur, he didn't want to risk opening it in public even though he knew there was little chance of anyone seeing. First he had to make an account, when he saw the screen loading up asking for an email address and password he just turned his screen off and put the phone down. But it only took a few minutes for him to pick the phone back up and begin signing up, he used an old email as it felt less seedy that way and he didn't want to risk his name cropping up anywhere for Spike to see. Now he could load up the link properly and take a proper look at Spike's profile.

Just looking at the small profile picture was enough to startle Ringo a little, the dark eyes looking into the camera with that unreadable glimmer behind them. He was shirtless in the picture, Ringo wondered why that didn't catch his attention first, with the frame cutting off just before it showed anything too explicit. The header was a photo taken from the club, showing him in tight, leather pants and tassels on his nipples which matched the whip he held in his hand. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. He'd spent so much time and effort trying not to think about this man, attempting to keep him out of his mind as much as possible. Ringo kept staring at the screen as though it was going to tell him what he should do. Spike's profile had no description, which wasn't very surprising, and it dashed any hope Ringo had of discovering something new about him. Right before he was about to put his phone down again, it vibrated.

Ringo let out a sigh and rested his head against the bedroom wall from where he was laying on the bed. Suspiria remake review from a shitty movie-goer

(this review is posted too late so excuse me for some timing inaccuracies I couldn’t be arsed to edit)

(IF YOU HATE TL;DRS JUST SKIP AHEAD TO THE “THE REVIEW” PART. YOU’RE WELCOME)

I actually hate to admit why was I interested to watch this movie in the end, but for once SOMETHING motivated me to go to a movie after countless tries from my family to get me to watch something in theatres at a “reasonable time” (daytime is what they mean, this movie was at 8pm our time, and this is when the cross-city bus transport (it goes from one big city to another) stops doing their service lmao).

I myself have a lowkey interest in moviemaking (I’m already getting there by editing my phone-recorded videos because whatever). I come up with my concepts in my head and I am mostly willing to put them down somewhere in my computer so I don’t forget it years later if I want to make that concept a thing in the end (because none of my concepts are finalized... well except for one short horror-ish story I posted on DeviantArt (see mom, I do like some horror stuff!). Reddit as of lately inspired me to edit some of my movie’s plot-lines based on irl events (not related with anything too SJW), and I’m not sure how an usual movie-goer would see this concept but I am going to try to execute it... whenever I have enough equipment to shoot my own little films or skits or whatever.

What’s that? There are people who scrolled past this and already yell at me that “YOU ONLY WENT TO SEE THIS MOVIE BECAUSE OF THE MAN WHO COMPOSED THE SOUNDTRACK~~~”? Ugh yes you exposed me, tea all over. I even had “Street Spirit (Fade Out)” on a bit of a repeat as of lately (how fucking come I wasn’t too couragerous to listen to this song before?? And “Pyramid Song”??? Man am I discovering their pearl(ie)s(*) too late). And I’m occasionally on the band’s subreddit as well. And the man himself is touring ‘round the USA, signing material of fans and have genuinely warm chats with them. Admireable.

But that’s only half truth.

I never thought I’d see Suspiria on cinema theatres in here. Until one time when I saw an ad on a completely random Lithuanian website that said this movie is coming to our theatres 14 December... I couldn’t quite believe my eyes. I made my goal to see Suspiria since then. I even dared to ask a couple of my new college ‘friends’ to see it with me, but one of them fell off the deal when I revealed that I’ll be going to see it on Saturday, and on the weekends he’s usually at home, far away from the city the college is in (he lives in college dormitory on mostly the work-weekdays). So my only movie companion ended up to be this 28-year-old coursemate (actually we both study different things but sometimes we attend some of the same lectures) who was intrigued by the Suspiria trailer herself so at least I’m gonna have her by my side of the movie, so I thought. Sweet.

I already envisioned seeing this in a mall cinema theatre but my companion offered me a cheaper alternative - her suggested cinema theatre was actually in renovation so the business is temporarily happening inside an actual drama theatre’s long theatre hall. I had to wait long until the ticket box opened and because of that I was lowkey frustrated as I finished my English test writing a little earlier, so I spent my time walking around the city until the time came and I wandered off to the old building of the cinema so then I remembered it was moved and I found the moved place. Yeah I bought the tickets before my companion could but I’ll skip ahead to the time that I almost lost the tickets because they were put down on a windowsill outside some children activity centre (Suspiria and children?? lol). I came back home late at night and was ready for the movie to happen the next day. Oh and before buying the tickets I coincidentally saw dance classes going on nearby that building... weird, as Suspiria has dance elements in there

The day came (December 15) and my family went together with me because they saw this as an opportunity to see the Christmas tree of our city (but not the movie). Needless to say, they were still visibly pissed at me orchestrating this idea, as I planned everything BUT the transport to go by. Well at least my mom and my sis. Dad was cool with it as he returned home to watch Home Alone. Aside all that, the cinema hall was cozy, Christmassy, not too small, there were a few trailers before the movie, no snack-seller places (as this is not a mall lol) - my companion was glad she wasn't at the mall as she found this place where we were at way lovelier.

Now with all that unnecessary long intro off my chest, let’s begin:

THE REVIEW

(definitely not spoiler-free, if you are sensitive to spoilers please watch the movie for yourselves before reading my review. But if you like being spoiled, I’m your friend then I guess lmao)

The intro to the movie felt like I ended up booking a wrong movie - I didn't expect that to be set somewhere in Germany, especially an American/Italian-shot one. Was that a thing in the original Suspiria? I don't know... (apparently it is, but the cities are different, never the country though)

Patricia (I didn’t know it was Chloë Grace’s role until reading the Wiki) looked like to be a really big deal here, with the dance pupils discussing her disappearance the other day and Susie overheard them, then Sara mentioned the Patricia thing to Susie after Susie revealed she was kind of chosen as the lead dancer for the Volk play... is it because Patricia was THE saviour that unfortunately knew a little too much?? Idk, it’s perhaps the reason we get to see the Klemperer guy subplot happen (I didn’t know it was Tilda Swinton behind him all the time either, must be because the way the male German accent was put on her lol). Turned out she was captured and kept under some dungeon where Sara had gone later in the movie, but looking like an almost melted and grotesquely old human being (or if Mary’s mother from “Chocolate with Nuts” was a person). Speaking of which, there is one more later in the movie, but I won’t tell just yet - we will need to get into such scenes discussion first.

Interesting deaths here, despite of them being grotesque and horrifically detailed. It almost felt like Susie, whilst doing her first dance as the probable lead dancer, temporarily turned into Olga’s voodoo doll or a violent bloodbender (that old lady from Avatar that could bloodbend was incredibly uncanny, damn) and left Olga completely fucked up, and the foam mouth later on... is this the effect myxomatosis has on a human being if it was ever humanly? She was twitching and salivating afterall. :P But no, she’s not dead until she gets to plead her death later in the movie! :O Several others occur throughout, but none is more prominent than this key scene I described, well at least according to TV Tropes.

The search for the evil person in this movie without Wiki helping me much was definitely a nice game for me to play. I kept thinking that Blanc might be that one, then I thought she’s not the one until she looked at Carolina (I think that was the tall tomboy’s name??) suspiciously and then she later passed out on the floor violently, with rabies foam and everything.

Anyway, don’t tell me Tilda Swinton wouldn’t make out a pretty good Thom Yorke post-Pablo Honey. She’s 8 years older than him, ffs! Also played a man before (e.g.: this movie I’m talking about) so the make up won’t be an unjumpable-over hurdle.

The sighs were for sure unsettling, especially because they oddly sounded like orgasm here and there. IDK why. I know fucking is referenced twice in this movie (well only fucking once and sex another time). Speaking of random things, the nightmare shots were completely random themselves, following up with some imagery we never see in the movie again, and some of that we see only a little (like the worms and bloody organs).

3 long scenes that were note-worthy for me. One is the Olga mutilation/Susie's first dancing scene that I already noted, and it was driven by music (the others will be too. Soundtrack of this movie still rules). Then there's the Volk play itself - girls go from one place to another, take poses of each other, dance individually, let their minimalistic red rope dresses flick in the air, interspersed with Sara in the underneath area and her broken leg (so broken, the bone went out of her skin!), and then the matriarchy getting her back on stage, but healing her leg with her witch powers before that. I haven't really listened to the rest of the soundtrack but I gotta check the song out so that I won't end up labeling it as a Kid A reject. No but seriously - intense dancing needed some intense drumming and painful instrument sounds just to project out the massiveness of the whole play.

Then I keep remembering the scene where Madame Blanc commands Susie to jump higher and higher in the mirror hall, up until she jumps as highest as possible. Also my companion’s favourite scene was the stare exchange between these two ladies during the part where people were singing some drinking song in a bar to celebrate ‘Volk’’s success - you hear them singing and then some chilling background noise slowly mixing and creeping its way into the atmosphere, then I think it leads into a scene where some sparkling aura entity wakes Susie up (and she’s nude) in the middle of the night and gets her to go down to this... dungeon orgy full of random stuff going on, complete with an Asian man doing something beyond explanation (I could say lewd but not quite), even more strange ritual dancing and the very much frightening Madame Helga... who looked like Jabba the Hutt for some reason. And then of course everyone slitting, slashing and twisting each other, and by the end Susie throwing us all a plot twist which makes her THE evil one who can finally let her ‘friends’ go of all that suffering they have been through thanks to the damn witches (and yeah apparently her dance friends haven’t completely died? THAT’S how they do - they tell Susie to end their suffering and she does). Also she cracks her chest open to reveal a... very graphic part of a female body that will by no doubt get this whole text review reported without consent so I refrain from any illustrations. Oh and this scene mostly has the possibly favourite this movie’s soundtrack song of mine, if not one of them, play - titled Unmade. It was a mind-boggling decision to do so but the movie editors do them I suppose, but still. I felt sad for the song having to be the background of such absurd but fair enough events? (Oh and I didn’t mention that everyone who voted for the other woman than Madame Blanc to be the leader of the witches (iirc) were rid of in this movie. Damn.)

Oh and the ending is rather an interesting detail, not talking about post-credits because as always I have to be this one movie goer who wants to do it but can’t because they’re urged to go back out of the movie theater. We turn into modern day Germany with a love heart carved on a brick wall with the letters A and L (perhaps?? at the time of finishing this review my memory towards it kind of erased some parts of the movie for me), a nice little remembrance of Lutz’s (the old man’s) love for his dear Anke, with which they have reunited during the movie, but Lutz was dragged out by some people related to the dance academy for probably wandering elsewhere than needed and somehow Lutz ended up as one of the sex dungeon victims, stripped of clothing and lying down quite powerless. That and before the modern day shot we are subjected with Lutz in hospital with Susie coming to visit, they discuss something related to the plot, Susie touches the guy speaks some more, leaves and according to the Wiki, Lutz “suffers from a violent seizure” that was nothing more than just a hard seizure. And it even erases his memories!

Anyway, as a whole, I felt more underwhelmed of this movie’s experience despite really wanting to see it. Like, “uhm yeah gore blood people getting slashed everyone’s a witch and everyone’s watched over by the witch and if you expose the witches you die” kind of underwhelmed. I didn’t want this movie to blatantly go through my head, but it did, that’s why I wanted to make notes everytime something notable happens. There was one startling moment, and it just was an innocent scene transition. And something within Olga’s mutilation scene made me chuckle (and made some other people leave the cinema hall ASAP). It’s more of a disgusting watch than scary. Also feels too dragged out in parts.

I’d only recommend it if you are gore-tolerant (there are people that can’t stand looking at blood so this might as well not be for you, especially if you’re younger than 16), like intense choreos that can impact other people literally, and... the soundtrack. Yes of course. If you dare to get through the movie with feeling its soundtrack, sometimes you might as well feel it right, but some of the soundtrack song usages might as well make you go “hmm” as much as me.

I'll remind myself to never watch a movie in theaters for soundtrack again (unless they're not THAT late). And the other 'trilogy of the three witches' movie remakes, especially if they come out at the time I haven't moved houses by now, because for sure as hell will my parents not like me going to cinema late once more. The movie is lowkey 7 out of 10 for me, can sometimes it's on the verge of falling down to 6 becaude of no completely proper comprehension of some directing choices... so 6.7/10 is good - as it still has 6 in it, but totally leans on to the 7.

Will probably watch it again. I need to remember some more of this movie sometime later. And looking for online uploads of this movie is unrecommendable - I'll wait until Lionsgate distributes it to America for wider audiences so that anything could surface 2 months (or even a few days) later from now. Though if I didn't need all that, I'd definitely not watch it again for a long time... unfortunately I want to.

Post movie feelings: my companion liked the movie, initially said to never watch it again but now wants to watch it again because it was so "wtf" she felt like re-experiencing it at some point. She liked the music (another bonus point for Yorke). She wished she could film the reactions of other people who watched this, as they mostly were confused, all being like "wtf did I just watch???". I'm already feeling bad for the 3rd companion who didn't join us but would also like to watch this - he’ll likely be one of those confused movie-goers.

weelllllll i just scrolled through my dash and saw 3 stories abt how ppl got into tmbg so I, the youngin am here to tell a tale. possibly boring but YALL KNOW I WANNA DO THIS  ok soooo ive been on the internet ever since the age of 8. ive seen some stuff, heard some stuff, talked to a lot of people. i had this big friend group in an online chatroom based around mlp, i was a big mlp fan. anyways, i used this website for like 2 years. i was 9 when i first started using it. its the second year, im 10. i had a friend who was really into this indie rpg called OFF. im sure some of yall have heard of it. anyway i didnt know about it but i ended up stumbling upon this video bc someone linked it in the chatroom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGjnQ5aHpW8&t=22s (honestly im not even sure if this is the original video i watched, i just know it was an animated OFF video with the characters set to particle man) anyways i OBSESSED over this song. i downloaded it illegally on my phone, i learned the lyrics by heart. so i knew abt this song solely because of the internet. not because of tiny toons (bc im 13, wasnt even alive when that was on air) but because of the internet. so this song holds near and dear in my heart for yeaaarrs. fast forward to the middle of september, 2017. very recent, yes it took me this long. at this time i was a DIE HARD fan of vinesauce, vinny’s band red vox, and lemon demon and neil cicierega media alike. i heard somewhere that tmbg was similar to lemon demon. i was listening to particle man all these years after and thought “huh, if i like this so much maybe i should check out the rest of their catalog” so i did. i started with flood, since particle man was on it. i had no idea about these dudes, who they were, how old they were, their names, i didnt even know there were TWO singers. anyways, i loved flood. my favorites were whistling in the dark and hearing aid. the night after i listened to flood i checked out 4 more albums. lincoln, apollo 18, the else, and john henry. i only picked them bc they were on the youtube recommended section. completely random, for no reason. i listen to these for a bit and then i finally listen to the pink album. i love it. now at this point i still dont know much about them. i barely knew what they looked like and when i first looked at flans he looked really creepy to me. (i think it was the flansbeard, and his ominous smile) and linnell looked like an old woman to me which is weird. anyways, i listen to long tall weekend after pink. and then i listen to mink car a bit later. the night i listened to mink car was the same night i watched “gigantic: a tale of two johns” now at this point ive been meaning to watch this for a bit bc it was always recommended to me on youtube. i nestled up into my couch with a blanket and i watched on my phone. i instantly fell head over heels for the johns. i loved their voices, and how they talked about their music. watching them perform was so cool, and when first watching it a lot of the time i was sorta confused bc i dont understand music talk LOL but i was still really into it! it made me so into the johns! and the rest of the band! so the day after i watched gigantic, i searched google and lurked tumblr tags and found tons of pictures, silly videos, and audio and it made me love them EVEN more. i felt a spark of love for these guys, instantly. after mink car i checked out factory showroom, the spine. and now here i am, 6 months later, half of the discography ive already listened to. i only have 2 albums left. i love every single song, i know most of them by heart, and i couldnt be happier about my decision. i didnt like tmbg bc i was raised around it, or because a friend introduced me, or because my mom listened to it. no, i found it all on my own practically. i made the decision to listen to them and im so happy i did. the johns are musical geniuses, musical blessings, and i love them so so so so much. i dont know where i’d be without them. im a 13 year old whos homeschooled in a poor family, i dont do much everyday as you might imagine. its draining, doing nothing at all everyday. im not in tip top health as im never active and i havent had a real life friend in 6 years. but when i have they might be giants, i know ill get out of this secluded, lonely purgatory soon.

Here we are. It's August. Five months plus since the start of the U.S. pandemic, lockdowns, and general disruption to society. Over 5.26 million confirmed cases in the United States alone to date, and 167,000 deaths. Our world around us has changed.

Much of the last two months of summer for me were spent in an agonizing holding pattern concerning the almighty School Question. What would happen in the fall? Would schools be reopening? If so, how would that look - would we just act like life is normal, or would there be modifications to help prevent transmission of the virus? If so, what on earth modifications are even possible for young children that are reasonable, and to which little kids can even feasibly adhere given their ages and needs? If it proves too difficult to reopen schools, what would be the plan? Would there be some sort of virtual learning program, and how would it differ from the shifts that happened this past spring, with teachers scrambling to educate themselves on distance-learning technologies and teleconferencing utilities in order to teach a room full of kindergartners on Zoom? Surely, with several months to ponder the possibilities and plan for vairous contingencies, schools would be more prepared with better, more structured and thought-out plans for fall, than what they had in the spring... right?

Er, wrong. WRONG. The short version of how this situation ended, at least in our geographic area, is that the public school system (and my own kids' small, family-owned private school) made the decision to reopen to face-to-face teaching by the middle of July. Late in the game, both also hastily threw together a virtual option for students - but the virtual option was tantamount to a continuation of the fly-by-night Zoom teaching that had been put into effect at the very start of the lockdown.

I for one was entirely disappointed and disgusted with this. With SO much time to plan, this is really the best that could be done?! Bruh, NAW. I wasn't having it.

So blah blah blah, hem, haw, blah. Research, research, research. Reading, millions of review websites, forums, blogs, legal defense funds, Department of Education website, nonprofits, clubs and associations and collectives.... a phone call with an old friend from high school with over 10+ years experience, and a series of long and informative text message exchanges with two other friends, one a veteran with over 15+ years with three now-adult children, another a mom about my age of children about my kids' ages, facing this situation just like me and working through options just like me...... and, after all this, I knew exactly what I would be doing. What WE would be doing, in our family.

By June 13, it was official, and it was all systems go.

Ladies and gentlemen.... I am officially a homeschooling mom. Like, a LEGIT homeschooling mom. As in, I am doing a 100% parent-led homeschooling curriculum plan, FULL-time, with my two children.

I won't lie. In a million, bajillion, baskillion years, I don't think I ever intended to find myself in this place. I'll also say with honesty, that I have admired from afar the rare few homeschooling families that I somewhat know, and the flexibility and creativity with which they approach academics and learning in general.

I have also been increasingly dissatisfied and frustrated with the academic progress of my own children... Dr. Spouse and I have had long discussions where we've tried to speculate on the things that we haven't been satisfied about in our kids' schooling. The list has been long. But even as we were able to identify specific shortcomings in our children's particular educational environment, I've felt a rising sensation of control-freakism and bootstrapism in my chest, that has whispered to my conscience: "if you feel something is wrong here, don't sit around waiting for someone else to fix it. And, when you articulate your concerns in a constructive, non-threatening, but clear way, and people have smiled and nodded and claimed they'd follow up on those items, but in the end, they havent taken those concerns seriously - then it is time to man the f&* up and TAKE CARE OF THAT SHIT yourself. Because YOU are the only one you can trust. YOU are the only one who can do it right, in your own view. So either do it, or stop feeling dissatisfied about it."

So here it is. Our original plan, prior to the pandemic, was to switch the kids to the local (A-rated) public elementary school for this coming year. We had hoped that a change in environment, teachers, and the accountability of being a reputed school in the public school system, would mean more organization and oversight, and that hopefully this would translate into better academic progress in our kids.... but the pandemic changed all our plans, and besides, I don't know if more "in theory..." type things ever really translate to palpable, effective change at the individual level (at least not for me anyway, I never have such luck).

Rather than seeing this weird, surreal circumstance has having forced me into the homeschooling decision (which, maybe it sort of did) - - for reasons I can't explain, I dove headlong into it, with great excitement and hope. I can't really figure out how I have been as enthusiastic or jazzed about it as I have been - - but lookie, I'm jazzed! Seriously. From the moment we made the decision to do it, I felt like a 1,000-lb. weight was lifted from my chest. No more feeling anxious or on the edge of my seat about decisions that are being made outside of my control. In this matter - I stopped waiting for other poeple, and I TOOK CONTROL. For my own kids, anyway.

I'll write a detailed post at a later time about some of the particulars of the homeschooling plan that I am using, the research I did, the materials I ended up purchasing, the knowledge and insight I required while in the preparations phase, and other stuff. But, for now - I've droned on long enough. I'm gonna share some pictures now.

To bring it back to the start of this post - - with this homeschooling plan, I have found my iron string. I literally felt this resounding, reverberating sense of CONFIDENCE the moment that I decided to do this, and effectively brought Dr. Spouse on board. NEVER, in my life, have I felt so right about a decision. I feel a tremendous inner harmony about it - like I've come home to myself, if that's not too weird to say.

After reading several history textbook chapters on the origins, diets, nomadic lifestyles, housing practices, and modes of dress among prehistoric humankind - we did a "History in action" lesson where the kids were given 10 minutes to construct a shelter out of a "mammoth skin" (blanket), "two tree branches" (pool noodles), and several large "rocks" (throw pillows). They didn't need the full 10 minutes :)

After a week reading science textbook chapters about the earth's atmosphere, we conducted science experiments to better understand the properties of air! The boys had a "paper race" using construction paper and pieces of cardboard as fans, to race two paper structures across a finish line. They discussed their expectations and each articulated a hypothesis about which paper would travel faster, prior to conducting the experiment; afterwards, we determined whether our "guesses" (hypothesis) were accepted or rejected :)

This is just a smattering. There's been so much, and in only four days. I can't believe how much we are able to learn and cover in our homeschooling time. And the crazy thing is, we are able to do Phonics and Grammar, Reading, History, Read-aloud time, Math, Spanish, Handwriting, and Science in only about 3 hours per day. We integrate things like art, movement, current events, and practical life skills into pretty much everything we do, but on occasion we are even able to do a discrete, planned-out period of time for these topics too.

The iron string is taut, and secured in its proper place. We are ready for it to guide us through this school year.

so something (refer to the song he said suits myday) happened with jae recently and ive seen fans trying to defend him by @ing him and saying that they love him which is fine - great even! but what i dont approve is how everyone’s basically forgotten about the whole matter because they had concerts so instead of @-ing him and asking him to explain himself, they tell him what a great concert it was which is also great bc their concerts are honestly amazing. basically my pet peeve is when ppl dismiss the problematic action of some people just bc they like them.

another thing is that there were some fans who started guilting others for wanting to drop day6 completely because of what jae did and in my opinion i think it is totally cool to want to drop a group if they did smth bad like??? its ur life???? u can choose who you want to like. what is not cool is pulling out all the good things the person has ever done in their entire life and try to remind others about the positive sides of the person. yes. they’re an encouraging person, etc. but that does not cancel out the bad things they’ve done until they explain/apologise. what is infuriating is just the manner some people took it?? they literally went ahead and tweeted shit like “would your parents drop you if you did smth wrong?” and “you’re seriously gonna drop someone whos been nothing been nice because of one incident?” yes. people will and you dont have any fucking right to stop them? so dont go pulling out receipts.

another thing. its also okay to want to stan the whole group even if someone has done smth problematic. like? to me youre cool if youre able to see and acknowledge the bad shit someone has done and still stand by their side while educating them at the same time its nice to have faith in your idols. however, i wont say much when your idols dont respond and/or respond in a way that shows absolutely no remorse. its cool if you want to support them too, despite that.

tldr; dont fucking excuse someone’s behaviour/action just because youre so far up their fucking ass. dont pull out shit from before either, be it good or bad. and lastly, its okay to want to drop/continue supporting them, its your life.

I've been writing my posts on my phone a lot lately. And so I haven’t been backing up any of those posts and now with Tumblr getting sold I'm nervous about that. So I've been trying to find a website or something to back the whole thing up but I could only find wordpress and it only had enough space to back up a 1/3 of it so if anyone knows a good one could you let me know?

Today has really been nice but it didn’t start the way. I didn’t sleep well. My back ached all night and nothing I did helped. I tend to sleep sort of bent but I cant seem to lay on my back flat and feel tired and its just a circle of unhappiness.

So when my alarm went off at 7 I was like I am just going to sleep for another half hour. I took a shower last night so no rush. But then like 2 minutes later sweetP knocked over my apple tree. Which was in a coffee can of dirt. And it went everywhere. I was furious. I yelled at him and smacked him on the butt and nose and cleaned it up and just was so mad. I chased him around the apartment and he was so scared. He hid under the tub while I cleaned. It took me almost that whole half hour I had wanted to sleep. I calmed down though and felt terrible for scaring sweetP so bad. I tried to get him out with treats but he was keeping his tail under him and he was upset and I was upset. I sat on the floor and cuddled him and told him he messed up but so did I. We had breakfast and then played fetch for a little and he seemed less freaked out. I still felt like the worst mom though.

Work was good. I got there and found some good stuff on the free shelf. Got the room set up. Kathrine and me and mixed up some paints and got ready for the day. We had most of our kids today. And we really are having a lucky week. They are the most respectful and sweet group of kids. We got to learn how to use a new type of epipen! Its like a flat rectangle. Which was really cool. And it had a voice to walk you through it. Very neat. If I get a new epipen I hope I get that kind.

We did a whole lot of painting. I washed a whole lot of brushes. Anne thought I was doing it begrudgingly but I actually really like doing it. I think its soothing. But we needed a better way to dry the brushes. And I found these weird metal combs in the trash. Me and Kathrine looked at them and figured out if you sort of V shaped them together they could kind of stand up into a drying rack. So I glued that together and it actually worked really well. Go team!

I stayed in during break to help Anne and told her some crazy stories about when I worked at PCAT. What I want to improve as a teacher, my goals for the future. She's really great so I really love working during her weeks. I wish she had more of them.

I helped kids paint and ran around cleaning up and making sure we were on task. But really this group was great and I'm not worried about them finishing their projects at all. Because out group is a little older this year they are much more on task and get done much faster. So we can do more fun things. I'm having a great time.

I found a whole lot of paper on the free shelf we could use in the class. And I got a box of glass slides that I am just so excited about. Lots of pictures from the 1930s. I also got a cute little blue bomber jacket. I had some eye ball patches comes in the mail and I think I will put a few of them on that. Be super on trend.

I headed home after that. Forgot to go to the bank but that’s okay. I got a card from Jess with 2 old post cards in it. I love them so much. She knows me well. I changed and had lunch. Chilled. Worked on adding the ribbons to my new pointe shoes. I think I'm going to pick up some elastic though because the ribbon doesn’t feel super secure. Still excited. Still feel like a weirdo for having red but its okay.

I chilled and laid down for a bit. Started uploading my thesis photos to my website because I'm the worst and hadn’t done that. I just finished that actually right now which is why my post has been taking me forever tonight.

I slept for a little while. Woke up at 5 and got dressed and packed my bag the go to ballet. I biked downtown and went to chipotle.

But they were a bit of a mess. I don’t know what the hell was going on but there was no line, just one guy in front of me. But we were still standing there for over 5 minutes with no one helping us. We talked for a minute. Then the girl who made his burrito screwed it up so bad he just left. I felt bad. She screwed mine up a little too, forgot stuff. But I caught it and had the cashier fix it for me. Then when I went to find a seat every table and the food was filthy. I cleared a table myself. Then this worker came in and started sweeping but also just smashing the broom on the pan every time he pulled it back and honestly just doing a terrible job. I don’t want to make a complaint but I just might, it was that bad.

I had some time to waste so I walked around marshells. Then wet to stretch at the studio. I showed the other girl who does pointe my shoes and she gave me some tips. I also showed them to Marsha, our teacher, and she gave me some good feedback and said they are funny cause theyre red but totally acceptable.

Class was great. I felt strong. I stayed up on one foot for 15 full seconds, which would be about 5 turns. And I was so so proud. Marsha made a big deal about it. So my practice at home is really helping a lot.

I was a bit distracted after class and forgot my ballet bag on the bench but then the door was locked. And then when I did get inside the elevator was locked. But then Marsha and a few of my classmates came down and let me up and came with me to let me in the studio itself. But we got my bag and it was all good.

I got home and cuddled with sweetP. I think there is a mosiquto in here because I now have a bite. But its okay. Tomorrow I have work and then I'm going to attempt to bleach my hair to dye it. Havent done that for a while. Hopefully it wont take multible bleaches to get it really light but I have no other plans besides laundry tomorrow so you know! itll be fun.

the mall didn't burn down entirely (like from the outside it looked fine). the ventilation system caught fire so it was more internal—ceilings and all that. covered things with soot(?) and ashes so the entire mall was closed for nearly 2 years. and hey, i've experienced a school fire too back when i was younger. i, too, thought it was nothing but a fire drill until i saw the charred remains of the buildings behind our school : D thankfully, no one died.

oof the pd48 scandal is extremely complicated. to condense it in a few statements: all of the girls' rankings have been rigged since the very beginning and it was rumored that they already had their end group before the show even started. it was like this for pf48 and pdx101 (group x1) which was why x1 disbanded within a month of debuting, and izone were on hiatus for like 4 months. im not the best at explaining stuff like this haha, but i think you get it. you can check out yt or search up 'pd48 scandal', a ton of articles and videos. as for new groups, nothing has been made clear yet. theyve only made instagram handles for now and appeared on variety shows haha. as for acting career, hyewon was supposed to do acting but was forced to join pd48 so maybe she'll continue acting afterwards? nothing is confirmed yet!

School and life stuff

First off stop being that bitch. The one who didn't do jackshit and is constantly mooching off others for the work. Dont complain and say you were too busy. If you legitimately have an issue with management try talking to a teacher, an older classmate or the guidance counselor. Solve your problems, in math and life and don't be afraid to ask for help in either. In life and on these apps, sometimes there are problems only you can solve

Study groups do help but make sure you know the difference between copying each other and goofing off and actually helping each other and getting work done. Everyone has different learning and teaching styles and it is important to find out what works best for you when it comes to these groups. Though having people with different methods can help you develop skills that pertain to that style.

Quizlet I didnt know about or utilize quizlet until my sophomore year of highschool and I regret it. While quizlet can provide answers, it also provides a very easy an convenient wayk to study. You can make your own flashcards, take tests and quizzes based off those flashcards, hear them verbally, if they arent too long, write in a different language(good for language learning in vocabulary) and you can play games with the vocab. 10/10 I reccomend, especially for memorization and I think the quizlet plus is super cheap.

Photomath I'm really bad at math like not to a worrying amount but like not that good and sometimes I need help. After a certain point you cant ask your parents for help with schoolwork because they have no idea unless they're a mathematician or a math teacher. Photomath can help give you the answer and then show you how to do it but in terms of helpfulness I give it a 4-5/10 because it's kind of vague and unhelpful and it doesn't show you how your teacher teaches it and they'll likely notice. It has graphing help and settings if you're looking for a specific way to solve the problem. It has limitations and can only solve so much. I do reccomend it's calculator if you dont have a fancy one at home. I mostly reccomend this for checking answers. The name refers to being able to take pictures of math problems and scan and solve them. Make sure your handwriting is neat and readable and make sure the equation is correct when it scans, you can edit it by hand too.

Dezmos is a free online graphing calculator that you can access on your school computer and your phone. Idk much about graphing calculators but I'm sure itll be helpful at some point. 7/10 bc I dont use it

Spanishdict is a super helpful translator for learning spanish. If you're writing something and want to double check that its right. I dont reccomend using on all of your Spanish homework or work because sometimes it uses words from different dialects than the one you're learning, but it is super useful if you just need one word and dont trust google translate. 9/10

Brainly is really helpful for those questions you just dont get and I really reccomend, sometimes it's just answers but other times its solutions and indepth explanations on how you get the answer. The brainly plus is expensive in my opinion but kind of worth it and they have it so you can just forward it to your parents and theres like a video that explains it and if they want to pay for it so you dont feel bad or awkward. I reccomend sharing with a friend of group of friends that can collectively pay for it so it doesn't seem as expensive. The brainly plus has a similar feature to photomath where you can take pictures and scan it and itll look for that question or the answers or you can be the first one to ask, it's kind of like a forum 10/10

Slader has textbook answers for a variety of textbooks but doesnt cater to all of them and for this reason I'm giving it a 7/10 like it's useful for checking answers but it's kind of limited in what it has

Sparknotes are great when you get into highschool and have to read Shakespeare and difficult old british literature. It sums up content by chapters in an easy to read way and has a bunch of other features on their website. I think they have study guides and tests that you can take on chapters. They also have a bunch of memes on their social media. 9/10 I dont reccomend not reading the work and just reading the sparknotes, sometimes they glaze over important information or key details.

youtube is great for math but I havent really looked for anything else. YouTube in general is great for anything you're unsure of or need help with. 10/10 sometimes it explains things that my teacher didnt convey too well.

Khan academy on YouTube for algebra and just general stuff, the khan academy website is what we use for sat prep

Audiobooks, I dont have a specific channel but sometimes I cant read the book but I need to do stuff. Finding a good one is difficult but once you find a good one you cant stop.

A lot of teachers make videos to teach stuff and let their students review it when they get home so I reccomend looking up whatever you're having trouble with.

Podcasts.

Other general tips:

Dont put things off until last minute.

Use everything at your disposal, like youtube and tiktok and pinterest to learn things, about school and real life skills.

Dont say no one ever taught you something if you can teach yourself.

Dont make excuses for yourself or others.

Growing up is realizing you need to be your own mom/dad and take care of yourself.

I dont take constructive criticism so smd or dont idk.

Learn as much as you can

Dont worry, if you did your best that's all you can do. And I mean your actual best not your half ass excuse that you think is your best

Girlfriends and significant others dont matter in school, what matters is the betterment of yourself and your future.
