Oblivious - Hazel Callahan
summary; Hazel is head over heels for you (literally) , but she doesn't think you feel the same.
AN: that's the gay shit I love.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It burned. Hazel could feel it, the sharp sting in her gut as she watched you across the classroom laughing at something Josie had said. It burned particularly now, because Hazel had come to the realization that she thought you were perfect. Hazel thought that despite your flaws, and all the things you didn't like about yourself, you were perfect for her.
She loved the way you would smile at her when you caught her staring, the way you would wave. She loved the way you would pull on your earlobe when having a conversation, as if it helped you think of your next sentence.
You weren't straight—you'd hinted that to Hazel enough times for her to finally catch your drift—but still Hazel didn't think you could like her in any way other than platonic. She was clumsy and terrible with social cues, and she had a large expanse of button up shirts that looked as though she'd stolen them from her uncle in his forties. But the way you smiled at her, and complimented her mid-life-crisis themed fashion sense, the more Hazel fell for you. That's where the clumsiness came in.
Hazel swore every time she saw you, her legs would give out. Her ankles would twist at unnatural angles, her hand would lose its grip on whatever she was holding. She would fall, stumble or drop something, no matter how many times she tried to stay upright. And each time, you would reach out to help her. That could have been because helping was a natural response in such a situation, but Hazel interpreted it differently. It was just another thing to add to her list.
You were perfect for her.
But she wasn't perfect for you.
Tumblr media
"I was just wondering if you wanted to sit together? like in class?" Hazel doesn't know what she's saying, but she's just stopped you in the hallway, Josie by your side. Whether it was jealousy or general Hazel interest, she didn't know, but somehow she was talking and couldn't quite stop. "Because we haven't ever sat together before, and I thought maybe you'd want to. Sit with me, I mean."
You're smiling at her, mouth slightly agape, and Hazel's heart starts its routine of bouncing along the walls of her ribcage. "You don't have to, obviously but—"
"I'd love to sit with you Hazel." You put a stop to her rambling with the answer, and for a moment Hazel doesn't know what to do. She's grinning like an idiot, eyes locked to yours, just long enough to make it weird.
"See you in class, Hazel." you go to move past her, Josie still beside you, and Hazel allows herself an awkward wave.
"Okay, yeah, see you." she's nodding profusely and continues to wave even when your back is turned. She can't stop. You're like a dream she always wants to have. Tomorrow in class, she'll see you again, hopefully sitting closer this time, and maybe she'll never have to wake up.
Tumblr media
"Heyyyyy" Hazel hates the way she greets you, the way she says one simple word. She hates the strange flip of her stomach when you sit down beside her. She hates the way her chair squeaks when she discreetly tries to inch closer. The one thing Hazel doesn't hate, is you.
"Hey," you reply, all warm smiles and gentle eyes. You look happy to see her, at least from what Hazel can interpret, which must be a good sign.
"How are you?" Your shoulder brushes Hazel's as she asks, and her whole body seems to rewire itself around the touch. You don't react to the sensation at all, but turn to look at her. Hazel can feel her face shifting colors, cheeks flushed pink as if she's just run a marathon.
"I'm okay, I bumped into Jeff earlier though. He's makes my skin crawl, I swear." you fake a shiver for dramatic effect, "How about you?"
Hazel responds too fast, unblinking and in a panic. "Oh yeah, I swear too."
All you do is laugh, a soft sound that relieves the tension hidden within Hazel's shoulders. "I know you swear Hazel, I've heard you. I meant how are you?" You place one hand on top of Hazel's on the desk, a sweet gesture. A kind one. You're not judging her, or making fun. Not like everyone else.
"Oh, yeah I'm good." Hazel's eyes drift to your hand atop her own. She's trying to memorize the feeling without making it obvious. "I'm really good, totally great."
"That's good." You're still looking at her, but you pull your hand away when you notice Hazel's lack of eye contact. Instead, you go to grab your books, pulling them out one by one from your bag. Hazel has never wanted to be a history textbook more in her life.
"Did you want me to beat him up?" the words come out before Hazel can stop them, your movements pausing as you register the sentence.
"What?" there's a confused chuckle within the word as you turn back to Hazel, frown deepening.
"Jeff, You said he was bothering you. Did you want me to beat him up?" Hazel is serious, or at least she thinks she is when she says it. She would most definitely fight someone for you. You just had to say the word.
As Hazel watches, a grin begins to creep onto your face again. She likes the look on you, and tries to mimic the expression in return, though she doubts she looks as ethereal. "You're funny, you know that?"
Hazel wants to say something in response, she has the words on her lips "You're pretty, you know that?" but she doesn't get to say them. Before she can, she's interrupted, the teacher more than irritated with the continuing conversation. He shushes the both of you, a finger to his lips, before going back to writing on the blackboard. Hazel thinks of saying something anyway, but when she turns back your way, you're already hard at work, nose in your books.
Hazel will try again tomorrow, and maybe she'll get it right when she does.
Tumblr media
The first thing Hazel sees are the tears. The gentle swell of water in your eyes, and the lines it traces as it falls down your cheeks. She's never seen you cry, and honestly it makes her far sadder than it should for someone who is just supposed to be your friendly acquaintance. But seeing you in this different light, one that reflects off your tearstained cheeks, doesn't make her love you less.
In seconds, she's jogging your way, jumping in front of you as she calls your name. You almost bump into her as you come to a sudden stop, wiping your eyes with the back of your hand.
"Are you okay? Why are you crying?" Hazel doesn't know if she should reach out to touch you or not, and watches as you sink the ground in the courtyard. It's almost empty save for the two of you, everyone else on their way to class. Hazel follows suit, and crouches down into a spiderman like position.
"I'm okay," You try for a smile, but it falls short, taking a slice of Hazel's heart with it as it hits the floor. "I've just had a rough day."
"Is there anything I can do? I can run and get you those little cookies you like from the store just down the road if you want." Hazel is swaying a little in her odd position, as if she could blow over with a gust of wind, and you look just a little calmer somehow. You shake your head no, and this time a smile comes easier, though it's not as bright as usual.
"Thanks Hazel, but it's okay, really."
You don't look as distressed as before but Hazel still wants to go and buy you expensive cookies to mend the possible hole in your heart. Even whilst sniffling away your sadness, she can't take her eyes off of you, but somehow she still doesn't see it coming.
It took Hazel more than a moment to register what was happening when you shuffled toward her, and her brain began to short circuit more than usual when your lips got a lot closer to hers than they had ever been before. She fell over of course, forward rolling headfirst thanks to her awkward position and extreme panic, avoiding the kiss in a way never seen before.
Instantly, you jolt back, red flush consuming your neck and cheeks at an alarming rate. "I am so sorry Hazel, I thought there was something—I thought there was like a thing... I don't know what I thought." You stand abruptly, stumbling backward as Hazel makes her own way to her feet. She's got dust on her jeans as she rises, and an audacious smile snaking its way onto her expression.
"Did you just try to kiss me?"
Hazel watches as you shift on your feet, looking near tears again after all that had happened. "I'm sorry," you say again, a hand coming up to cover your mouth in shame, muffling your next words. "I thought you liked me too, I don't know what came over me."
There's a loud ringing in Hazel's ears from then on, a buzzing that blocks out everything except for you as her brain processes it all, working to take step after step in your direction. She reaches up, when close enough, and pulls your hand away from your lips, holding it in her own.
"Can I kiss you?" Her voice is quiet, but her smile is more than present as she waits for your response. A response she's been wanting for months, to a question she'd always been too afraid to ask.

word count: 5.4K
a/n: y’all ate up falling behind so here’s part two of hazel showing you exactly what you’ve been missing out on.
Tumblr media
You’ve always been one to zone out during your and Isabel’s study sessions. It was usually because you all of a sudden began to think of the most random questions or what your life would be like if you were rich.
Now, Hazel was overtaking every single thought that crossed your brain. That afternoon in her dorm room shouldn’t have been as mind-consuming as it was.
It’s only been two days. Two fucking days and Hazel has ruined you.
Her touch was imprinted on your waist. When you got dressed and undressed, you imagined her removing your clothes instead of you. Your body craved her touch in ways that made you feel embarrassed if there was anyone who could read your mind.
And that damn hickey.
It’s at the deepest shade of red and purple, according to Google, because you researched as soon as you left Hazel’s room that day. Isabel hadn’t seen it nor did she know about you and Hazel’s make-out session. You had thrown on the college hoodie over your plain white tee. You were lucky that every single room on campus was below freezing.
You felt bad not telling her as throughout your stay here on campus, she’d become one of your closest friends. But you know how she would’ve reacted if you told her you had made out with your crush just for ‘practice’.
Suddenly, you felt a pencil thump your forehead, causing you to pull yourself out of your crowded thoughts. You held your forehead for a moment to feel over where the eraser hit you.
“Oh my god, what was that?” You ask Isabel from across the table. The two of you were seated in the campus cafe.
“You have not blinked for two minutes and I was getting scared,” Isabel replied with a worried chuckle. “What is going on with you? You never let your iced latte sit there for so long.”
You glanced at your clear plastic cup, noticing the condensation that was forming on the outside. She’s right. Usually, there would just be ice with the tiniest bit of coffee left over for the next hour that you would be studying with Isabel.
“Nothing is up with me. Bel, I’m fine,” you assure her with a forced grin.
Her pretty green eyes narrow at you, clearly not believing a word you were saying. She flips one of her two pig-tail braids over her shoulder before folding her arms in front of her chest, squeezing against her baby pink lace cami and Josie’s gray zip-up.
“Who is it?” Her voice was accusatory as she glared in your direction.
Your eyes widened for just a moment before scoffing.
“What are you talking about?” You sigh and begin to write down notes for your history class.
“I can tell when you’re crushing.” Isabel chuckles, reaching forward to sip her hot coffee. “I’m kind of glad, honestly, because who knows how long you’ve been crushing on Hazel.”
You let out an awkward chuckle along with her. Flashes of images of Hazel’s heavy lips on yours and how she kissed and sucked on your neck came flooding in. You could feel the heat rushing up to your ears and neck. Suddenly, the hickey was becoming very itchy.
You had to tell her.
“Isabel, you’re right. It is someone. I,” you sucked in a deep breath and rubbed your hands over your bare face. “I made out with Hazel two days ago.”
Isabel’s eyebrows raised and her eyes widened at your confession.
“What? Why?” Isabel’s face held a mixture of concern and curiosity.
You open your mouth to explain to her what exactly went down but out of the corner of your eye, you see PJ, Josie, Brittany and of course, Hazel entering the barely occupied cafe. You held one hand up to your temple, muttering an ‘oh, god.’ Isabel noticed the sudden switch up in energy and slowly turned her neck to look behind her, spotting the group.
“You’re telling me about this later,” Isabel stated with a smile as she raised a hand to wave over her girlfriend.
Josie’s elated smile grew when she saw Isabel waving at her and she jogged over to the two of you. You noticed Brittany glance at Hazel before the faintest of smiles spread across her face. You knew exactly what the brunette was thinking and you wanted to disappear into the hoodie at the sight of Hazel.
She was ordering at the register; the cashier was blushing at whatever Hazel was saying. You wanted to vomit. Josie came up behind Isabel’s chair, gripping onto the back of it.
“Hey, babe. You wanna sit with us?” Isabel tilted her neck back to look up at Josie.
“Sure, yeah. I’ll go and let everyone know.” Josie smiled softly down at her girlfriend before placing a kiss on her head.
Your eyes follow Josie’s figure trailing back to the group. She mutters the question to everyone and Hazel instantly cranes her head in the direction of you and Isabel. You don’t even have time to divert your eyes and pretend you didn’t see her as she locks her gaze on you.
Hazel grabbed her cup from the counter and a cheese danish she had gotten on the side, adjusting her tote bag strap. You subtly try and fix your hair, sucking in a deep breath as you watch the group approach. Hazel wore a white crew neck with black stitching and a pair of dark gray Levi’s.
You wanted to roll your eyes at how good she looked. Of course, she had to round the table right next to you when there were a few more open seats elsewhere.
“Hey,” Hazel grinned, her tone kind and friendly.
You couldn’t even attempt to be annoyed with her as soon as she looked in your general direction.
“Hi, Haze,” you breathe out with a smile, twiddling with your pen in hand.
Way to keep your cool, dumbass.
“Holy shit, what the fuck is that on your neck?” PJ nearly shouts as she sits on the other side of you–the side where Hazel had made that hickey.
Everyone turned their heads towards you with furrowed brows. Brittany sat on the right side of Isabel while Josie sat to the left of her. Hazel glanced at Brittany who just smiled to herself, pulling out her own notebook from her bag.
Their little glances were driving you insane.
“Who is giving you hickies?” PJ taunted with a chuckle, nudging your shoulder. “I thought you were celibate.”
“None of your business and I have never once said that I was celibate.” You give PJ a warning look before going back to writing, hoping the girl would leave it alone.
“Maybe not celibate verbatim but I remember your breakdown just last week about giving up on dating forever.” Josie decided to join in, making your skin crawl.
“Guys, it's none of our business so let's just change topics, please,” Hazel spoke up before you could snap at both PJ and Josie.
Your head turned to Hazel, nodding to give her a silent ‘thank you’ for speaking up for you. She merely smiled back and patted your thigh as a reassuring gesture before lifting her coffee to her gorgeous lips. You keep your composure as you had expected her to remove her hand to not draw suspicion to you both. Instead, she kept it there.
Hazel squeezed your thigh once just for good measure.
“Oh, do you guys wanna come to a sorority house party tonight? Stephanie from my metals course invited me and said I could bring friends. It’s supposed to be, like, super fun.” Brittany spoke up, her eyes bouncing from person to person.
You look up from your paper when you hear Josie, Isabel, and PJ agree to the party. Hazel’s hand left your thigh and felt like you could breathe again, rubbing at her neck with a shrug.
“I don’t think I’ll go this time, guys.” Hazel takes a bite of her danish as everyone starts to question her. “I just don’t feel it tonight. I actually got shit to do.”
Isabel’s eyes were digging into you at what Hazel had said which caused you to frown. Hazel thrived in those types of scenarios. Who knows how many drunk sorority girls had experimented with her?
“Wha— Hazel, you’re my pass to sorority puss.” PJ huffed.
“Maybe you’ll get some if you stop calling it puss, PJ,” Hazel retorted, snorting at PJ’s words.
You zoned out of the rest of the conversation, focusing on how Hazel was going to be alone tonight. Or at least, you were hoping she was going to be alone. ‘Shit to do’ could easily be some other girl she had managed to seduce easily just by being her naturally charming self.
Maybe tonight is the night to ask Hazel for some more ‘lessons’.
Tumblr media
Isabel had helped you pick out a cute yet comfortable outfit. Your white tube top that you brought out on rare occasions and a dark blue jean mini skirt with pockets that didn’t even work. You took a risk and left your hair in its natural state. It was rare for you to leave it down as it was hard to manage otherwise.
But you felt good, sexy even in this outfit and you had every intention to do something with Hazel tonight. You even shaved from head to toe which might’ve been overdoing it, but you felt more confident that way.
You close your eyes and suck in a deep breath as you prepare to knock on the door. You haven't heard any moaning so you assume Hazel is by herself. You knock on the door three times, bouncing on your Converse-covered feet anxiously.
The heavy door swung open to reveal Hazel in a white tank top and green sports bra, a pair of faded olive green sports shorts clinging onto her bottom half. Her eyes light up at the sight of you, leaning one of her arms against the door.
“Hi.” Hazel’s smile spreads onto her face, tilting her head to the side as her eyes follow up and down your body.
“Hey,” you reciprocate her smile, clasping your hands behind your back. “Can I come in?”
“Yeah, of course, honey. Come in.” Hazel stepped aside to open the door more for you to walk in.
You step into the familiar environment, scanning the area to see a candle lit on her and Brittany’s shared bedside table. The way the rest of the room was only lit up by said candle illuminated an almost seductive element to the area.
“I thought you were going to the house party?” Hazel asked as she shut the door and locked it. Her eyes fell on the round of your ass in the skirt, rolling her bottom lip in between her teeth to hold back the groan that was threatening to escape from her lips.
You really were the prettiest thing she’d ever seen.
“Uh, no. Parties aren’t my thing, but they’re usually yours,” you point out, turning to face her. “Why didn’t you go tonight?”
Hoping you’d come by. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you.
“I wasn’t in the mood for partying.”
You simply nod, not wanting to push any more on the subject as you lean on the end of her identical bed frame to yours. Hazel furrows her brows and folds her arms over her chest, inching in closer to you. Your confidence shrank because of her close proximity.
“Why are you here, honey? Hmm?” Her voice was low and inviting, a hint of a smirk forming on her lips.
“I wanted to see you,” you admit, hands gripping onto the wood nervously. Your gaze flickers from her eyes to her cupid’s bow. “And I wanted to see if you wanted to teach me something else.”
“Like last time?” Hazel hummed.
“Yeah but just… more.” You explained awfully, nerves getting the best of you.
Hazel nodded as she stepped in between your open legs. Her hands rest on your jean-covered waist, your hips pushing up into her touch. God, you had missed her hands.
“Do you get off often, honey?” Hazel asked, throwing you off guard for a moment. Her thumbs rub the strip of your newly exposed skin as you sit on the foot of the bed frame.
You shake your head, looking at her with a sheepish smile. “Not really, no. I try when I have time or feel like I’m in the mood. But n-no, no. I don’t.”
“Okay, do you feel like you know how?” Hazel tilted her head, squeezing your hips once before continuing the soothing rubs.
Again, you shook your head, not elaborating that time. Hazel’s sharp gaze and sweet words caused your panties to pool with your arousal.
“I can show you.” Hazel’s voice was so low, it was borderline whispering.
Your brows raised and eyes widened with hope, taking your bottom lip in between your teeth. “Really?”
Hazel’s lips curled into that signature smirk, staring directly at your lips shamelessly. You were wearing this shimmery gloss that Brittany had lent you after the group's study session.
“You look like an angel, honey.” Hazel compliments you with that look that you’ve seen Isabel give Josie numerous times.
She was horny, too. You could feel it and you wanted her now. You’re elated by her sweet words and your mind is already fogging over.
“Can I kiss you?” One of her hands leaves its spot at your waist to cup your cheek.
You nod with a soft ‘yeah’ before she leans down to capture your lips onto hers. You tilt your chin up to follow her lips, your hands releasing the wood to hold onto the back of her neck.
Both of her hands grip onto your waist, the rings covering her middle and ring fingers indenting into your skin. You gasp as her tongue swipes past your bottom lip but she doesn’t slip it in like you had hoped. You whine softly, looping your fingers under her chains to pull her in closer.
This causes Hazel to pull away with a hum, looking down at you with hooded eyes.
“Still getting too eager, huh?” Hazel teased, gripping and tugging your hips in closer to her crotch. Her roughness only made you wetter; you needed her to touch you now.
“Haze, please.” You look into her eyes, hoping she will do something soon.
Hazel pecked your lips a few more times, releasing your beautiful hips to walk around you to the bed. You turn your neck to follow her body and watch her sit on the bed, legs out like last time but more spread out.
“C’mere, baby. Sit up against me.” Hazel motioned with a small smile, her eyes trailing up and down your body as you stood up.
You blushed sheepishly and made your way to sit on the bed. Your mind echoed the way she called you ‘baby’ and how it made your desperation for her grow even more, if that was even possible.
Hazel doesn’t hesitate to take it into her own hands to tug you by your waist to sit in between her legs. Your back was against her chest, her cold chains and her mullet-rocker hair brushing up against your exposed back and shoulders.
“Are you comfortable?” Hazel’s hands were rubbing up and down your shoulders to rest at your upper thighs.
“Yeah. What are you going to do?” You question softly, your hands resting on your lap.
“Well, help you be able to make yourself cum, yeah? That’s what you want, right, honey?” Hazel’s head was next to yours, her chin resting on your shoulder.
It annoyed you not being able to see her. That is until you saw her closet that was right in front of the bed. A full-body mirror hung on the back of one of the doors. You could see the shadowy view of Hazel’s face, her cocky smirk flashing you through the reflection.
Were you into mirror sex? The sight of you up against her, chest panting and legs spread to see your best pair of panties clinging onto your wet cunt. Hazel’s palms were holding your legs open, eyes locked on your flushed face and chest.
“Is the mirror okay? I can take it down if you’re not—“
“No!” You interrupt her, your hands flying to hers that were on your mid thigh. “I like it. I like being able to see you.”
Hazel smiled at how open and honest you were being. For being as inexperienced as you were, you weren’t doing as bad as you thought you would be. Hazel made everything feel easier.
“Are you flirting with me?” Hazel teased, digging her nose into your neck where the hickey was.
You let out a soft giggle at the feeling of her lips brushing along the mark. Her lips replaced her nose within the span of five seconds. Your eyes focus on the mirror, watching as her lips gently kiss the darkening spot.
“How’s the hickey feeling, baby? Talk to me.” Hazel questioned as her hands were running up and down your sides.
“Normal. It feels fine.” You tell her truthfully, the way her tone made your pussy pulsate.
You wanted her to talk to you that way forever. The way every word was dripping in lust sent shivers down your spine and goosebumps to rise on your skin.
“We’ll talk about it another time, yeah? Let’s focus on you, baby.” Hazel’s palms trailed to the front on the ribbed tube top, her fingers right underneath your tits.
You push your chest forward into her touch, growing ‘eager’ as Hazel’s called you before. So what if you were eager? You were a virgin getting manhandled and groped by your crush who was about to teach you how to get off.
“Before you get off, honey, you have to tease yourself, okay?” Hazel’s lips grazed against the shell of your ear. “Be gentle.”
You nod to show that you were paying attention. Her hands that were brushing past your underboob creep to your nipples that were stippling through the fabric of the tube top. You inhale sharply, eyes fluttering but not closing just yet. Her fingers slip underneath the bottom of the material to tug it down ever so slightly, exposing more of your chest to the mirror.
“This is cute.” Hazel smirked against your skin, placing a gentle kiss to your shoulder.
“Thank you,” you reply, eyes locking on her hands through the mirror.
The thought of other girls going crazy over seeing Hazel in the reflection just as you did made your stomach turn with jealousy. You know it's happened and you were only hurting yourself more by pondering on it while you were with her.
She’s not yours.
“Hey,” Hazel whispered, furrowing her brows. “You with me? Kinda spaced out there for a second, honey.”
You blinked twice before nodding, letting out a soft chuckle.
“Yeah, yes. I’m sorry.” You apologize, now suddenly overcome with embarrassment.
“Don’t apologize, baby. It’s okay. You’re okay.” Hazel was quick to make sure you were feeling comfortable. “You’re doing good.”
The praise made you preen and turned your mind to mush. It didn’t help that her hands were slipping underneath your tube top to lightly grope at your tits. You hum at the feeling, the cold rings adding to the sensation. Your head rolls onto her shoulder as she runs her thumb over your nipples.
“Look at the mirror for me.” Hazel instructed, removing her hands from underneath your top.
You did as you were told, gaze locked back on your reflection. Her hands were trailing up to the top of the tube top, fingers digging into the fabric to tug it completely down. Your tits are exposed now and you feel vulnerable.
A good, exciting vulnerable.
“You are just beautiful everywhere, huh?” Hazel hummed as she took both of your tits into her palms, her bottom lip rolling between her teeth.
You thought your tits were alright. Nothing seemed that special about them but Hazel made it seem like your body was crafted by Greek sculptors.
“Haze,” was all you could say, not knowing how to take such praise.
“Alright, alright,” she placed a gentle kiss on your shoulder, shushing you softly.
As you sat there, your sexual frustration with her grew. You knew this was the point of the teasing, but you needed to get off immediately before you broke down into tears.
“Can I take this off?” Hazel asked softly, tugging on a belt loop on the skirt.
You nod eagerly. Your hips lifted up as she carefully shuffled the jean down your plush thighs. Her nails nicked at your skin as her hands brush down the sides of the plump skin of your outer thigh. You aid her by kicking the skirt off the foot of the bed once they reach your knees.
Hazel lets out a soft chuckle at your impatience. You were a vision laid out on her. The way your panties She couldn’t believe she was going to do this with you. She hasn’t been one to have performance anxiety but it was different with you.
You weren’t just a stranger or one-night stand; you were her friend or whatever you wanted to call what you two had now. That was something for her to worry about later.
Now, her lustful desire was the only thing on her mind.
“So, what I mean by teasing is,” Hazel trailed off to drag the tips of her fingers over the front of the damp spot in front of your white cotton panties.
You sharply inhale as her fingers brush right over your swollen clit from underneath the material. You keep your gaze on the reflection, not wanting to miss a moment of this. The sight was so deliciously obscene. A part of you wished you could take a photo.
“Make yourself want it more, okay?” Hazel instructs as her hands move to your inner thighs.
The short crescent indentation of her nails make themselves known as she lightly digs her hands into the plush and soft skin. You nod mindlessly, one of your hands gripping onto one of her arms.
“When am I supposed to…” You trail off, gasping when she casually brushes past your clothed pussy.
“Touch?” Hazel hummed, kissing at the nape of your neck.
“Haze, it hurts. Please.” You whimper, no longer feeling like yourself at the moment.
You were induced in a desperate haze, hips rutting forward into her touch. At this point, you were readily waiting for her to remove the restricting panties.
“So impatient, baby.” She tuts, shaking her head teasingly as she hooks her thumbs underneath the waistband of your panties.
You allowed a whine to leave your panting lips. You released her arm to allow her to shimmy down the embarrassingly wet underwear. The mirror revealed your glistening cunt.
“See how wet you are? Fuck me.” Hazel groans out her words as she teases her middle finger through the folds. “Such a pretty pussy, too, honey.”
Your hips follow her touch enthusiastically, needing. her to do something. Hazel removed her fingers as soon as she noticed your bucking hips, smiling to herself. She made sure to lock your gazes as she slipped the finger that was covered in your slick into her mouth.
You let out a gentle moan at the sight, tilting your head to look at her face. Hazel captured her lips to yours as soon as your eyes locked, one hand cupping the underside of your jaw. The other sneaky hand made its way in between your legs to tease your sopping cunt with her middle and ring finger.
As you were messily kissing, one of her fingers began to slip into you. You pull away to softly pant. You and Hazel’s swollen lips were just a centimeter apart as you begged for her to keep going.
“Your pussy feels so fucking perfect, baby. So wet for me, yeah?” Hazel mutters against your lips, her cocky attitude peaking through.
You nod at her words, trying to press your lips to hers. She shook her head with a condescending, chuckle and jerked her chin towards the full-body mirror.
“Watch, pretty girl. You’re supposed to learn something from this.” Hazel pecked the underside of your jaw before pulling back.
You refrained from rolling your eyes but focused on the reflection. Her finger began to pump in and out of you.
You weren’t learning jackshit.
All you could focus on was how fucking amazing her finger felt inside you. When she curled it inside, you let out a mix of a surprised and aroused moan. One of your hands grips onto her bicep tightly as you buck your hits to meet her fingers movements.
“You’re doing so good, honey,” Hazel kisses at flushed cheeks and jaw. “My perfect girl.”
You preen at the praise, only being able to audibly respond with whines and moans.
My. She said ‘my’ as if you were hers.
As pathetic as it may have seemed, you felt it in that you were. Her endless amount of praise made your skin beam. Your mind was too fucked out to even notice that she had slipped in her middle finger. The slight stretch made you clench down onto her.
“Oh my— fuck, Haze,” you whine as a hand reached down to grip onto her wrist, feeling overwhelmed with the pressure being applied to your g-spot.
“Yeah? Feel good, honey?” Hazel’s other hand cupped one of your breasts as her nose brushed against the crook of your flushed and sweaty neck.
You nod with a delicate whimper. “I wanna cum, please, Haze. Please.”
Hazel kissed at that sweet spot right underneath your ear before kissing the sensitive hickey. The sound of you begging to cum made her own underwear become slick with arousal but this was focused on you. Making you cum.
Just to give you some ‘lessons’, of course.
“C’mon, baby. You can do it, pretty girl.” Hazel’s encouraging words made you moan softly.
Her fingers picked up their pace as the other hand kept its hold on your tit. You keep your gaze locked on the reflection and let out the most raunchy sounds that you’ve ever made. You feel your lower abdomen tightening as your orgasm gets closer.
Your hips stutter as you throw your head back onto Hazel’s shoulder, legs attempting to clamp her arm. The sensations of her wet kisses, curling fingers and delicate touch were too immense.
“Hazel,” you whined, your voice becoming higher pitched as you were about to cum.
That one word alerted her to keep her same pace. The hand that was on your boob wrapped around your waist to pull your flushed body up against her as you. Your breaths had become ragged and moans were whiny and high-pitched.
You were so close. So fucking close.
“Cum for me, baby. You’re doing so good. So gorgeous like this.”
You couldn’t even comprehend your orgasm as it ripped through you so quickly. Your eyes shut and rolled into the back of your head for just a second before sitting up to trap Hazel’s hand. Your entire body was quivering, hips stuttering as you rode out of the orgasm against her fingers.
You think you could pass out in all honesty from how intense everything felt. Hazel was whispering sweet nothings into your ear, one arm still wrapped around your waist to keep you steady.
“There you go. You did perfect, honey,” she pressed gentle kisses onto your heated skin, trying to get you to calm down. Your eyes were shut, chest falling and rising rapidly.
“I did?” You pant out, a weak chuckle leaving your lips.
“Mhmm. Perfect as always.” Hazel reassured you, letting out a smitten laugh along with you.
You hum as fatigue takes over your limbs. Hazel pressed gentle kisses onto your damp hairline, holding you close to her. You immediately try to nuzzle into her touch, feeling in dire need of a nap.
“Hey, you gotta go and pee.” Hazel whispers as she notices how limp your body was getting.
“Can I pee tomorrow morning?” You attempt to get her to let you stay here in her arms.
“No,” she huffed out a laugh, “I don’t want you to get a UTI. Look, I’ll come with since I have to wash my hands.”
You suck in a deep breath, pretending to think for a moment before sighing out an ‘okay.’ Hazel reluctantly released your waist to let you make yourself more… well, not fucked out. You sit up gradually onto her bedsheets, cracking your lower back.
The rest of the night was more than you could’ve asked for. After you had gotten the strength to stand up, Hazel walked with you to the small bathroom her and Brittany’s room had. You peed and she washed her hands in the comfortable silence.
You fell asleep happily in her sleeping shirt that she had lended you: a plain white oversized tee. Hazel slept on her back as you rested your head on her chest, one leg thrown over the both of hers.
Tumblr media
The next morning came quickly as you heard shuffling coming from the bathroom. Your eyes were squinted as you stared at the posters on the wall. You knew it wasn’t Hazel in the bathroom as you could feel her arm draped around your naked waist underneath the shirt.
You sit up slowly as you rubbed your heavy eyes with one palm, looking around the room as you were fully waking up. A soft click echoed into the room and you see Brittany emerge from the bathroom, wearing what you assumed was her outfit from the night before. A neon pink tank top with white shorts.
Her makeup was slightly smudged, neon green eyeshadow lathering her lids.
Brittany grinned weakly at you, yawning through her words. “Morning.”
“Morning.” You blush as you tug the sheets to cover your exposed lower half.
“How did you sleep?” Her tone was knowing and cheeky.
“Britt, don’t start.” Hazel speaks up causing you to jump as her eyes were still shut and body was still.
You thought she was dead asleep. Hazel merely tugged you in closer to her, adjusting herself once again as she smacked her dry lips. You lay back down onto her chest, wrapping your arms around her neck.
“Fine. Happy for you guys, though. You know how many times I had to deal with you both ogling at each other?” Brittany muttered as she laid on her side, groaning when her head hit the mattress.
You tilt your head up at Hazel’s relaxed features, watching them alter into annoyance as she opens her eyes to glare at Brittany’s figure. A small smile spread onto your lips at what you had just heard.
“You ogle at me?” You whisper, twirling a strand of her hair around your finger.
Hazel couldn’t help but allow the faintest smile to spread onto her lips.
“Yeah, I kind of…” Hazel sucks in a deep breath before huffing out. She knew this was now or never. She had to tell you the truth. “I really like you. I know you may not believe me because of… you know. But I do. I want this with you. It’s scary to me but I don’t want this with anyone else.”
Your heart grew tenfold at her confession, eyes softening with adoration. Her gaze was avoiding yours. You’d never really seen Hazel so vulnerable in the few years that you’ve known her.
“I really like you too, Haze. Ask anyone in our friend group. I thought I made it so obvious.” You confess as you trace her chains on her neck.
“Really?” Hazel asked in disbelief.
“Don’t even,” you scoff, finally locking eyes with her. “I got so fucking flustered around you.”
“Okay, yeah. I noticed.” Hazel admits softly, pressing her nose into your cheek as you groan out in embarrassment. “Stop. I thought it was because you were shy.”
“Around you. Literally no one else.” You bury your face into her neck, cuddling into her body.
“Well, regardless of that, I’m glad that this is happening now.” Hazel pressed soft kisses onto your head before accepting your embrace.
“Me too.”
You hum in content with your position, mentally, physically and with Hazel. You close your eyes once again, floating down into another deep sleep in her embrace. Classes forgotten, worries disappearing, and heart full.
Making out with your best friend was the best decision you ever made.

homecoming
hazel callahan x fem! reader.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary; loving her was a sin, but if there was a hell, you’d go with her.
cw; +18 content, minors dni!, we’re in the 80s!, both reader and hazel are 18!!, inspired by homecoming from ethel cain, homophobia, angst, pining, both reader and hazel being in love, kissing, crying, hair pulling, mentions of the bible, god and hell, fingering (r! receiving)…
you’re staring at her, and she can’t be more beautiful. it hurts. everything about it hurts. her suit matches her beautiful eyes, and her hair looks so soft you just want to dip her fingers in and tug. tug her closer. until there is no distance in between the two of you. until you can breathe from her lips, until nothing else exists.
but you can’t. and it just breaks you apart like a porcelain doll smashed against the floor.
her name is just as beautiful as her. hazel. like the spring, like the earth and the green. and just like the season, she brings butterflies to your stomach, makes goosebumps bloom like flowers on your skin. and she’s so warm…
she’s a sin. but such a pretty one… maybe they all are. would it make a difference? everything else evaporated as she takes your hand, like the blood in your veins. you want the blue in her eyes to bathe you clean.
“dance with me?” she asks, as if you could resist, as if you weren’t on her knees and begging for her to a god that forbid this sickening love that drenches your bones.
and you nod, ‘cause there are no words you could muster. not when she’s this close, when her fingers are laced in between yours and her cologne is suffocating you.
you’re more patient now than you ever have been.
her smile is blinding, and you can just follow her to the mass of teenagers dancing in the middle of the room, even when your heart is about to burst out of your chest and your stomach is tying in knots.
you’re more brave now that you ever have been.
her hands are on your waist, and your arms are around her neck. and you’re dancing, slow. you feel like one of those princesses in the fairytales your mom would read you when you were just a mere kid, with glass heels and satin fluffy dresses, in between the arms of a prince. you wanted to smash the crystal below your feet and break it to pieces, dance bare feet on the remains of the happily ever after that you won’t get.
“you look beautiful.” she whispers, and your cheeks redden. your heart flips, and you wish this weren’t the way it all goes, but you can’t help but say it back.
“you too.” you stare into her eyes, shying when she smiles, pulling you closer against her chest. you swore you could feel the quickened heartbeat of her heart. hazel fears you do.
you could feel her breath on your neck, through your homecoming dress before she speaks again.
“can i tell you a secret?” you nodded, your soul blooming in a field of flowers when she spoke those four words against your ear. “i’m desperate for you.”
and even though you felt complete, you couldn’t help but want to push her away, punch her in the face. ‘cause your love was so big. you wanted it to be her problem too.
there, just inches away from her, from her plushy reddish lips…four left feet in a room, always all over her. why had you had to fall in love with her?
and you both knew this was how it goes. you both get too close ’til you fucking explode.
you only tugged her closer, burying your face on her neck to hide your blushing, your nerves, but mostly your fear. you couldn’t look her in the eyes, into this sin.
“don’t look now but everyone’s staring at us weird.” she said, and your breath hitched.
“is it just me or there’s no air in here?” you could feel your chest tighten, millions of eyes on you.
but you’d take it all. stand there and bleed under the knives their eyes sent you if that meant you could stay in between her arms just one more minute, one more second.
“just breathe. i’m right here.” she promised, holding you tight.
everyone was watching you. you couldn’t breath.
“can’t we just leave?” you muttered, and she nodded. you wanted to run away with her, run to where no one would know you, would see you.
she took your hand, and you followed as you two left the prom, the hallways of your high school felt sickeningly cold, yet she kept you warm, hand on hand.
it was all a blur as you two ran through them, eyes on the back of her head, on her flowy soft black hair, and before you knew you were inside the bathrooms, your back against the cold tiles as she looked into your eyes.
“tell me i shouldn’t.” she whispered against your lips, one of her hands cupping your cheek. your eyes met her lips.
your fist tightened on the jacket of her suit, knuckles turning white as you leaned closer to her, until your lips were hers and hers yours. you closed your eyes, relishing on this love that you were gifted, this cursed love that you couldn’t scape.
tears were soaking your eyes, ruining the makeup your mother had helped you put on. you were gutted. your hands found her hair, tugging. you wanted to hurt her. break her just like she had broken you.
“i wish you were a boy…” you muttered in a sob, and hazel’s eyes fell. she silently kissed you again. and you let her. they said love hurt, and you were ready to die for it.
the kiss only got deeper, so deep you were drowning. you wished there was no god. no heaven. no hell.
“i love you.” she muttered against your neck, softly kissing it, pressing you harder against the wall.
“don’t.” you begged. “please, don’t.”
“i’m sorry. i’ll go to hell for it. but i do.” tears were brimming her eyes as well.
you kissed her to quiet her. you needed her to hush it all. to not speak up this forbidden love that hung in between the two of you.
her tongue pushed inside your mouth and you moaned.
“please, hazel. make me forget…” you pleaded, starred eyes staring into her soul, and her shaky warm hands crept under the skirt of your dress, pushing aside your panties to feel how wet you’ve become for her. you cried out when you felt her fingers dive in between your slick folds, her fingertips tracing soft circles against your clit. you pulled on her hair, making her grunt.
“you’re so beautiful…” she repeated, if she could she would say it over and over again until she’d lose her voice. a whimper fell from your parted and swollen lips when she pushed her middle finger inside you, fucking you slowly. it was as if she were trying to make love to you. to convince you that this was no sin. just love.
you could believe her.
“i love you.” you cried on her shoulder, your hips pushing against her touch. “i love you so much it hurts.” she kissed your cheek, your forehead and your lips.
she hushed you, her free hand coming to softly brush your hair as she added a second finger, curling them and making you moan. “just focus on me, alright? just me, sweet girl. i’m right here, baby.” she kissed you once again, painfully slow and sweet. you could feel yourself rotting in it, vanishing as your orgasm approached, whimpers and whines being swallowed by hazel as she worked you towards it.
“hazel…” you called out for her.
“i know. i know. just let go for me, princess, let go.” you cried out as it hit you, your hips sputtering and your chest rising in a deep breath. you whole body shook at its intensity, and hazel made sure to help you ride it until it became too much for you. she pulled her fingers out of you just to push them into her mouth to taste you. you were heaven on her tongue.
you needed a taste.
and as you kissed her, holding her close to your heart, you whispered.
“if there’s a hell, i will go with you.”
and that’s a promise no god could break.

7 Minutes
Hazel Callahan x Reader
summary: hazel gets paired up with you to play 7 minutes in heaven
warnings: making out, suggestive but no smut
requested?: yes! tysm
- hiii i was wondering if i could request a hazel x reader fic where isabel hosts a party and the fight club all play seven minutes in heaven and reader gets paired with hazel and things get a lil hot n heavy
word count: 1.2k
————————
IT WAS STUPID, really.
You had been convinced to play 7 minutes in heaven at your fight club sleepover. Isabel had a free house, and she insisted on everybody coming over for a movie night and snacks. One thing led to another and PJ ended up suggesting the game - one which, admittedly, you had never played before.
It felt childish - yet your legs shook with anxiety as you sat down onto the floor. A bottle lay in the middle of the circle of girls. PJ seemed to be rubbing her hands excitedly, smiling at the group.
“Okay, let’s start the scissor-fest!” she yelled, earning a groan from Josie and Hazel.
Purely by chance, Josie and Isabel were chosen first (which was lucky considering they were together). In all honesty you think they would’ve denied it if it had landed on anybody else.
For you, there was one person you both really wanted it to land on, but simultaneously were dreading if it did land on her.
Hazel Callahan.
You would consider yourself friends, but (not so) recently you had developed a huge crush on her. A crush which was reciprocated, yet you both made no move to confirm it. Typical. There was some mutual flirting, hand brushing, and extremely borderline erotic talk between you two any time you had to fight each other at the club.
Basically, everybody knew you two had the hots for each other. And everybody had tried to get you guys together, but to no avail.
It wasn’t that you didn’t want to - if anything, you wanted it more than you could put into words. Yet any time you made an attempt, something got in the way. Or more specifically you got too nervous and chickened out.
She was just so intimidating to you. She was beautiful, hot, smart, funny. A perfect recipe to make you a stumbling mess under her gaze.
You were so deep in thought that you had barely noticed a giggling Josie and Isabel exit the closet. Their hair was askew on their heads, their t-shirts were wrinkled and half unbuttoned. They were so in love that it pained you sometimes. When was it your turn to be as in love as them?
“Alright. Hazel,” said PJ, her eyebrows wiggling.
Sylvie made a half-hearted crude gesture, her eyes flickering towards you before looking back at Hazel.
She merely rolled her eyes, glad that you hadn’t noticed this. Your attention was brought back to the floor, everybody waiting with baited breath as the glass bottle spun.
It felt like an eternity before it finally made up it’s mind. Landing between you and Annie, you both looked at each other with wide eyes.
“Uh-“ you started.
“I think that’s definitely you,” said Annie, her hand coming to push the tip of the bottle more in your direction.
Your cheeks burned with embarrassment. “We could spin again?” you said.
PJ immediately shot up. “Nope! Rules of the game. Let’s go,” she said, making a shooing motion at you. She pushed Hazel up out of her seating position, ushering her to go.
You walked ahead of Hazel, your heart quite literally dropping to your ass. To say you were nervous was an understatement. You were terrified.
What if you were a bad kisser? What if your breath smelled weird? Would she be totally turned off if you had no idea what to do with your hands?
PJ’s exaggerated moans were muffled now as Hazel closed the closet door behind her.
There was still the faint noise of the girls giggling, their crude noises invading the space of the living room they were in.
Hazel looked at you, noticing how you were picking at your nails.
“We don’t have to do anything if you don’t want to,” she said shyly, her hand coming to scratch at the back of her neck. “We can just sit and talk-“
“No! No, it’s not that,” you blurted out, afraid of making her think that you didn’t want her. This was all you had wanted for months but the fact that the time has come already had you freaking out. In your mind, there were a million things that could go wrong.
Hazel cocked her head to the side. “So you do wanna kiss?” she asked, her confidence rising upon seeing how nervous you seemed.
“I- yes. Jesus, that’s all I’ve wanted to do for-“ your frustration grew with each syllable that you spoke, “God, Hazel just kiss me!”
Surprised at the sudden outburst, she made little progress in leaning in to make the move, so you took it upon yourself to grab her by the collar and finally connect your lips. And oh was that the best idea you have had in forever.
Her lips felt like velvet, the plump feel of them against your lips driving you crazy. Of course you had imagined what it would be like to kiss her but nothing could compare to the real deal.
Your hands grabbed at her waist, desperate to feel her closer to you.
Hazel pulled away momentarily to catch her breath, her fingertips brushing across your thigh as you both panted. The look in her eyes made your stomach flutter. She looked like the most perfect girl in the world.
It was less than a few seconds before her lips were back on yours. “I cant,” she said in between pecks, “get enough,” another few kisses, “of you.”
“Me too” you admitted, still gripping her waist as she began to walk you backwards. Back hitting against the wall, you took the opportunity to flip yourself around, pressing Hazel up instead. You began to trail kisses down her jaw, enjoying her mewls of pleasure at the contact.
“You’re killing me,” she groaned at the light nip you left on her neck.
Soothing the bite you left with your tongue, you spoke up. “Could’ve had this a long time ago if you made a move.”
Letting out a chuckle, Hazel wrapped her arm around your back to turn you to your first position, your back returning onto the wall.
“Same goes to you.”
You rolling your eyes at her comment. You were quickly taken out of your attitude as you felt Hazel pushing her hips against you, her belt giving you a slight bit of friction. Gasping, you reflexively grabbed onto her hair, earning another throaty groan from the girl.
“If you keep doing that we’ll be here longer than 7 minutes,” she said, her head dropping down to your exposed shoulder.
Thank god you wore an off the shoulder top.
Hazel was in the middle of leaving a bruising mark onto your skin when the room was intruded by a bright light, the door to the closet swinging open.
“We were right! They are scissoring!” yelled PJ, her voice interrupting the sensual vibe you and Hazel had going on.
Dropping her head onto you shoulder, Hazel let out a small ‘oh my god, PJ’. You could only laugh in response, your fingers carding through her hair to ease her from her embarrassment.
“Don’t worry, Haze. We can finish this later,” you whispered to her, to which her head whipped up almost immediately.
Now she really regretted not asking you out earlier.

Fevered Affection {h.c}
summary: Hazel takes care of a very sick you.
Pure fluff.
(This is entirely self-indulgent as I have been sick the past week and need a Hazel to come take care of me)
pairing: Hazel Callahan x fem!reader
word count: 1.4k
You wake up in your bed, a tight ball of pressure constricting your chest, as if something has been lodged in your lungs for days. You try to slowly untangle yourself from Hazel's body beside you and move her arm off of you. As you sit up, you find yourself gasping for air, a fit of coughing wracking your body and intensifying the pounding in your head. Leaning over the edge of the bed, you reach for your water bottle, the cool liquid soothing your dry throat and sticky skin. It’s completely dark in the room except for the soft orange glow of your salt lamp plugged in, casting a warm ambiance on your bedside table.
You pick up your phone and the light from your screensaver adds to the throbbing in your poor head. Glancing at the clock, you groan, it's 3:38 a.m. Apparently, you had dozed off early only to be rudely awakened by your lingering illness. Every inch of your body aches, and your chills have now transformed into a too-warm heat.
Beside you, your girlfriend stirs, a soft sound escaping her lips. Hazel quickly becomes alert, her brows furrowing in concern. "Honey, are you okay? What's wrong?"
You convinced your mom to let Hazel come over and take care of you. After spending days miserably locked up in your room, missing school, and yearning to see her, you needed her presence. Hazel had arrived earlier that evening, well-prepared with all the essentials. As soon as she received the green light to come over, she stopped by a nearby grocery store to gather cough drops, medicine, tea, soup, a heating pad, and even a new stuffed animal, all to make you feel better.
"I'm fine, Haze," you manage to say before having another coughing fit.
"You don't sound fine. You sound like you're about to hack up a lung," Hazel says, concern etched on her face as she grabs your shoulder and pulls you in for a closer look. You attempt to squirm away from her touch.
"Don't look at me. I'm sick and disgusting," you protest weakly. Hazel chuckles softly. "Yeah, you look super gross right now. So gross that I just need to kiss you so bad," she teases sarcastically, planting a quick peck on your lips.
"Shut up," you reply, though you know there's no real heat behind your words. Hazel is just as lovesick as you are, if not more.
"I'm gonna get you sick," you warn halfheartedly.
"Babe, do you think if I was worried about that, I would have slept next to you for the past seven hours?" she replies, lightly tugging your bare arm back down and placing her lips on your shoulder.
"Seriously," she mumbles against your skin, her kisses tracing a line from your shoulder to your neck. Your head falls to your other shoulder, allowing her access, and you let out a soft sigh.
Her mouth reaches your ear, and she whispers, "Plus, if I get sick too, then we're both stuck in bed together. How terrible." You shove her off playfully, unable to suppress a laugh.
You watch as she gets up off the bed searching for one of the items she bought for you: Vicks Vaporub. She returns to the bed and settles in front of you. You shift closer until you're sitting face to face.
"My body hurts," you say, your frustration becoming more noticeable.
"Shh. I know, baby. I'm gonna try and make it better for you, okay?" she reassures, gently moving your hair out of the way to apply the cool gel on your chest. She carefully pulls down the straps of your tank top, creating a clear working space.
"I promise this will help a little bit, honey."
She opens the jar, dips her fingers in, and applies the rub to your chest with care. The sensation is cold, but oddly comforting. The intense minty smell instantly burns your nose. You watch as she runs her hand from the center of your chest up to your shoulder, squeezing gently when she reaches the top. Her touch is gentle yet firm, sending shivers down your spine.
"This okay? I know it's kind of cold, sorry," she says, dipping her fingers back into the jar for more gel. You can't help but admire the way her ringed fingers dip into the substance. She repeats the same process on the other side of your chest, her fingers gliding slowly across your chest. creating a tingling sensation that spreads warmth beneath your skin.
"Yeah, it's fine. Feels good, actually."
Despite your discomfort, a warm feeling spreads through your stomach as you watch Hazel take care of you so tenderly. As she wipes the small excess of the substance off on her hoodie sleeve, her eyes meet yours, filled with compassion and affection, conveying a silent promise to take care of you.
"I think I'm just really good with my hands," she remarks playfully. You shove her in a half-hearted attempt at retaliation, then surrender and collapse into her, your head buried into her neck with your hands in her lap. Her cold hands grip your waist and start to move up, drawing gentle lines up and down your back with her fingers.
"Thank you for taking care of me," your voice croaks. You sniffle, feeling overwhelmed by gratitude and annoyance at your lingering sickness. Hazel, sensing your frustration, instinctively reaches up to gently wipe away the tears that escape your eyes. Her touch is tender, her eyes filled with love and concern as she softly brushes her thumb against your cheek.
"You don't have to thank me, my love," she whispers, her voice soothing. She wraps you in her arms again, holding you tightly as she maneuvers you both back to lying down. Face to face, you stare into her big blue eyes.
"I hate feeling this way," you admit, your voice laced with frustration. "I just want to get better and go back to normal." Hazel's eyes soften with understanding, and her fingers begin gently caressing through your hair.
"I know, honey.” She says. "I hate seeing you like this too. I promise, first thing tomorrow, I'll take you to the doctor if you want. We'll figure out what's going on, and you'll get the proper help you need."
You find solace in her words, a glimmer of hope in the midst of your frustration. "Thank you," you whisper, your voice cracking with emotion. Hazel smiles, her eyes reflecting unwavering determination.
"Of course," she replies, her fingers tenderly tracing circles on your back. "I'll be with you every step of the way, holding your hand.” In the quiet intimacy of the moment, you look into Hazel's eyes, your gaze filled with deep affection and sincerity.
"I love you," you say, your voice barely a whisper.
Hazel smiles, her eyes softening with the same depth of love mirrored in your own.
"I love you too, more than words can express," she replies, her hand moving down your body to rest on your hip, squeezing it gently.
"You mean the world to me, I literally only ever care about what you are doing or how you are feeling.” She adds.
You both laugh quietly, feeling thankful to have found someone who cares for you so deeply.
"I'm so lucky to have you," you confess, your heart swelling with gratitude. I don't know what I'd do without you." Hazel leans in, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead.
"And I'm lucky to have you too," she murmurs, her voice filled with unwavering devotion. "We're a team, you and I. I mean it.” You share a smile, your gazes locked.
“God we can be so cheesy sometimes,” you remark, letting out a soft laugh.
"Yeah, you love it." She shifts onto her back, pulling you closer and wrapping her arm around you, inviting you to rest your head on her chest.
"Do you feel comfy?" She asks softly.
"Mhm,” you murmur in contentment.
“I’m right here babe, I’m not leaving. I’ll stay with you as long as it takes for you to get better okay? I just want you to sleep well and get some rest now"
You let sleep begin to tug at you, completely content, wrapped in each other's arms, listening to the soft rhythm of Hazel's breathing slowing down.

every date with hazel was amazing, she was the sweetest unofficial girlfriend you could ask for . your next "date" was going to a party together, nothing was too official yet but that didn't stop you from going hand in hand into the obnoxiously loud party
you sat on the couch right next to her, very very close to her . her arm was around you as she held you close, she sipped on her drink as she talked to a couple friends of hers on the second couch in front of you .
the party was loud and bright, not really your favorite situation to be in, but you'd be in it for hazel .
you felt your throat slowly get dry as you forgot to get a drink when you came in, 'hey haze I'm gonna go get something to drink' you whispered to her, she nodded and smiled at you .
you got up from your comfortable seat and quickly walked to the kitchen, you grabbed a red cup and filled it to the brim with tap water, you drank half the cup and stood in the kitchen talking a deep breath in
'okay' you whispered to yourself and left the room, as you walked to hazel you stopped dead in your tracks as you saw her alone, well almost alone, she had a another girl sitting on her lap, she was looked up at her and nodding as the girl spoke .
you felt your eyes water and a sharp pain in your chest, you put the cup down on a random peace of furniture . you sped walked out of the warm house into the cold garden, hazel was your ride meaning you had to walk home . you grabbed your jacket from hazel's car and slammed the door shut, you started to walk home shaking from either the cold or from the scene you had just walked in on
you knew people said she was a player but you didn't think it was true .

The Girl Next Door: Chapter 1 (Hazel Callahan)
Tumblr media
The Girl Next Door
Fic master post here (feel free to comment to be added to tag list)
You hadn’t been close with your neighbor Hazel for a few years. But you find her beat up in the locker room after fight club and all of that changes.
Chapter 1
You reunite with Hazel and clean her up after fight club
CW: mentions of blood and injury, allusions to violence, cursing, not beta read
You make your way to the locker room after staying behind at school to work on a group project. You forgot your hoodie in your gym locker, so you are grabbing it quickly before heading home.
While you are at your locker you hear the door open and close. Someone else has entered the locker room, but you don’t think anything of it.
As you go to leave you walk past the bathroom and you see someone standing in front of one of the sinks. She is facing the other way but you can see her reflection in the mirror. You notice that there is blood on her face and dripping down her shirt, paired with a swollen eye. You are obviously concerned and stop to take a closer look. Upon further inspection you realize that it is your neighbor.
“Hazel?” You call as you approach her. She sees you in the mirror and turns around. Why does she look amused?
“Hey!” She greets you like the circumstances are normal.
“What the hell happened to you?” This wasn’t the best school, but you would never have thought someone would get attacked like this.
“Oh this?” She looks down at her bloody shirt and shrugs. “I was just in fight club.”
“Who are you? Brad Pitt?” You are a little angry, what the hell is fight club and how did someone sweet and innocent like Hazel end up in it? You can’t help but feel bad for thinking that she looks kind of hot like this.
“No, no, of course not. Some of my friends have started a self defense club, we call it fight club because we learn to defend ourselves by fighting eachother.”
You sigh and decide to save your questions for later and give in to your instinct to take care of her.
“Why don’t we get you cleaned up?” You suggest to her.
She shifts uncomfortably and scratches the back of her head. She avoids eye contact by looking at the floor.
“You don’t have to do that. I’m fine, really,” she protests.
“I can’t just leave you here like this. I know we aren’t close anymore but that doesn’t mean I don’t care about you.” You mean every word. Hazel started to distance herself from you towards the end of middle school. You never knew why. You settled in with the popular crowd and Hazel settled in to her own niche. But it hurt you so badly and came right as you realized you had feelings for her. You have pushed those feelings down over the years, you’ve even had a girlfriend. But seeing Hazel like this, your old feelings are bubbling up to the surface.
Her eyes just widen, surprised, as if you had been the one to push her away. She tries to hide it, but a smile starts to creep across her face. “I guess I could use some help cleaning up. It doesn’t usually get so messy, I swear.”
“Oh believe me, I’m going to need to hear more about this fight club. But right now we need to do something about all of this blood,” your voice is tender, you are not sure exactly what she’s been through today and you want to be delicate.
You put your things down and grab a paper towel. You wet it and get closer to Hazel. As you reach towards her face she takes a sharp breath in. You aren’t sure why though, you haven’t even touched her yet.
“I promise I’m going to be as gentle as I can, but it’s still going to hurt,” you explain.
Hazel just nods and closes her eyes.
You begin to dab the wet paper towel on her face and the blood starts to come off. She winces with pain and says “ow” every once in a while, her eyes still sealed shut.
“Why don’t you talk to me? It’ll distract you from the pain.” You are suggesting it for her, but also for you. You’ve really missed talking to Hazel.
She opens her eyes to look at you with a tense expression.
“Right, right. Good idea. Um… how have you been?”
“Well I haven’t been punched in the face recently, so better than you,” you laugh a little and she does too.
“Fight club is great, for real. Yeah we get a little banged up, but it’s a safe space.”
You can’t help but laugh more as you echo “safe space.”
You expect her to continue to defend her new venture but she quickly changes the subject instead.
“So, how’s your um,” Hazel pauses to clear her throat, “girlfriend?”
That takes you by surprise. You didn’t really talk to Hazel at all but you guess that it makes sense that she would know which lesbians are in relationships with each other.
“Oh, we actually broke up. Last week,” you tell her shyly. It’s weird discussing your love life with someone that has your old feelings for her creeping up on you.
“I’m… sorry to hear that.” Does she sound relieved? It wasn’t a secret that your ex wasn’t exactly the nicest to you, so that must be it.
“It was for the best. Things weren’t exactly good between us,” you admit.
“You deserve so much better than her!” Hazel blurts out unexpectedly.
“I… thank you. That means a lot to me.” She just nods her head.
You take a step back and her eyes widen, seeming to think it was her fault.
“I’m done,” you tell her and you see a wave of relief come over her.
“What are we going to do about that shirt?”
“I’ll just change when I get home.” Hazel tells you.
“No, no.” You protest and pick up your hoodie. You offer it to her “take this.”
Hazel’s eyes dart around nervously. “That’s, um, okay.”
“You are going to get your little fight club disbanded” you warn, “if anyone sees you walking around with blood all over you like that. It’s bad enough that you’ve got a black eye. Plus everyone is still freaking out about that girl getting beat up by the Huntington football player.”
Hazel takes a nervous breath and starts to pull her shirt off. Your eyes widen and you know you should look away but it’s hard to when she reveals her toned stomach and sports bra. “What are you…” you begin to question frantically.
She cuts you off, “I don’t want to get any blood on your sweatshirt.”
You nod and finally peel your eyes off of her. You look away but leave your hand out so she can take the hoodie.
After a moment she clears her throat and you look back at her. You can’t help but smile a little bit seeing your hoodie on Hazel.
“I better get going,” she says and she starts to walk away. You step in front of her.
“Your eye is practically swollen shut. You can’t drive like that. I’ll give you a ride home.”
She freezes like a dear in headlights. She looks like she’s about to protest but she knows you are right.
“But my car? How am I supposed to get back to it, get to school tomorrow?” She asks nervously.
“I’ll just drive you to school tomorrow,” you tell her with a smirk. You can’t help it. The thought of getting to spend more time with Hazel excites you. She looks a little intimidated by how forward you are. She avoids eye contact. “I guess I’ll grab my stuff.”

so I made this account to fully and freely reblog fanfics like a library of sorts… I wrote one myself, in wattpad (yeah I know is kinda dead but the way you can build aesthetics, i just love it.)
1st chapter extract:
_____________
Hazel didn't know how to react, like seeing her walking away ... in those tight cutout pants... with her cute blue eyeshadow, that was still intact after crying, the fact that she actually knew her name, or that this was the longest conversation they have had in eleven years of going to school together.
Oh, she knows my name.
She felt like her heart was gonna come out of her mouth.
"FUCK-" Hazel screamed to the air, she crouched dramatically to the floor.

‘this love’ master list
Tumblr media
Your parents weren’t being vague about Hazel watching over you.
It had been two weeks since she had first arrived and you’ve seen her from when the sun first peeks from the horizon to the depths of the midnight sky. She had to be in the room when you apologized to both Prince Jeffrey and his mother before they had to begin their journey back to their kingdom. It was utterly humiliating for you as you had to tell Prince Jeffrey that your reasoning was that you weren’t ‘properly trained’ as your father insisted.
Trained. You weren’t a pet. You didn't need to be trained. You needed to be respected by those ridiculous princes.
The intimidating knight had to see you in such an embarrassing state only two days into her job.
You swore you had seen more of Hazel in the past week than you had your own reflection. Instead of just Isabel in your corner for etiquette lessons, it was Hazel and Isabel.
The two of them seemed to be getting along quite nicely. Every time you caught them talking to one another, you saw Isabel smiling and nodding to her words.
That was one thing you were unadmittedly jealous of. You haven’t gotten the gall to make more conversation. She had mostly just been lingering around every corner to make sure you were doing what you were supposed to be doing.
You can talk to her. It shouldn’t be that hard to just talk. What would you talk about though?
It was just past breakfast time, Hazel following you to the library that your parents had but completely ignored. It was one of your safe spaces to just have some moments of peace.
Your parents weren’t constantly pressuring you about which of the unbearable princes to choose from. You weren’t being compared to Moira. If you could just sit in that library — or the garden as your second choice of comfort — and read a good book, you’d be content.
Your eyes followed to Hazel’s side profile, opening your mouth to start a conversation. Hazel shifted her eyes a little too fast for your liking when she noticed your change in movement. Your mouth clamped shut just as fast as it opened and you continued walking in silence.
Small talk is not easy, you’ve come to realize.
Why was this so hard for you? Every time her vision locked with yours, it made your entire body stiffen.
As you finally approached the library’s grand doors, Hazel sped up her pace so she could open the doors for you. She stood with her back against it, waiting for you to pass by into the secluded area. It was a rather minuscule library as not many people in the palace read books.
You were pretty sure you and Isabel were the only ones that visited the abandoned area. Well, you, Isabel, and now Hazel.
“Thank you,” you murmur as you pass by her, stepping into the room.
“Of course, princess,” Hazel replies, nodding at you with respect.
There that feeling flushed over you again. It was every time she had referred to you as ‘princess’. Everyone in the palace calls you princess as much as you insist for them not to. Hazel was the first person you didn't mind calling you ‘princess’.
Your eyes dance from cover to cover, figuring out where the exact book you were looking for was located. Hazel’s heavier boots echoed behind you, an anxious shiver crawling up your spine to cling to your ears. Your fingers traced the spines of the hardcovers until you landed on the book you were searching for.
You dig your fingertips into the top of the spine, tugging the book out of its place. You place it onto your palm, running a hand over the cover.
“There is something at work in my soul, which I do not understand,” Hazel speaks up from behind you.
You jump slightly at her sudden words, turning around to face the knight.
“I’m sorry?” You ask her as you half heard what she had said.
Hazel’s eyes flickered to the book in your hand then back up to your eyes.
“Frankenstein. It’s one of my favorites.” She adds.
You didn't even know she was watching you so intently to see what book you had chosen. Well, you suppose that’s her job as your knight. You released a chuckle that was so shaky, you wanted to stuff the book into your mouth and down your throat to shut you up.
“Right, I’m sorry. I hadn't fully heard what you said.” You tried to play it off, keeping eye contact for probably the first time since she’s arrived.
“Oh, I didn’t intend to scare you, princess.” Hazel chuckled as well, taking a few steps forward.
“No, no, you didn’t, Hazel.” She raises her eyebrows at you, knowing you are lying straight through your teeth. “Okay, you did but that’s only because I didn’t realize you had even seen what I had grabbed.”
Hazel shook her head as she was now only inches from your body. Her captivating eyes shone bright from the mid-morning sun rays beaming in through the library's white-paned windows. You counted the different shades of blue that decorated her iris’.
You counted four.
“It’s the king and queen's orders to keep a close eye on you.” Hazel hummed, tilting her head as her eyes flickered to the book.
You nod, clearing your throat. “Of course.”
“What are your other favorite books?” Hazel hummed, now staring into your soul.
Your eyes flicker from the slope of her nose to the cupid's bow of her top lip.
“It’s a bit more recent but I did love Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.” You admit, surprising yourself with how good you were doing so far with talking to Hazel.
“Oh, I’ve never heard of that one.” Hazel furrowed her brows.
“Isabel had found it at a bookshop in town and brought it to me. It’s somewhere in my room still but when you have the time, I would recommend it.” You smile at the thought of Isabel thinking of you as she went out as you weren’t allowed to leave the palace.
Hazel only nodded at your words, grinning at your smile. You hoped she took notice of your subtle invite to ask her for the book one day.
“What else do you enjoy doing other than reading?” Hazel spoke up, moving a few steps back.
You wondered why she did so.
“Truthfully, I’m not allowed to do much within these walls. If I’m not in etiquette lessons and getting scolded for my apparent hunchback, I’m having to endure the utterly incompetent excuses for princes from other kingdoms that my parents hand-select.” You grin sarcastically, sighing out as you shake your head.
Hazel’s figure is walking away now, not sure as to what to say to what you had just admitted. You realize how venomous your words sounded and regret settles in your chest.
Too comfortable.
“Other than that, I enjoy visiting the garden. It’s quite beautiful there. Maurice and Hemmings, the gardeners, do a brilliant job at mending to the plants and keeping them alive.” You ramble, picking at the spine of Frankenstein.
Hazel is facing you now, just a few feet away. You suck in a deep breath, hoping she won't bring up how you just admitted you didn't want to get married.
“And where’s the garden?”
The garden was someplace that you probably could live in if it wasn’t outdoors. There were tall bushes that looked as if the tree's leaves were growing outwards from the trunk. In the center is a stone fountain with crystal-clear water. The much shorter bushes held in the midst of them beautifully bloomed petunias.
If you looked above, wisterias dangled from the tall trees on either side of the garden. You wanted to trap yourself here on most days and pretend there wasn’t anything else going on in the world.
“This is the garden.” You grin as you’re staring at the wisterias.
Hazel, too, had been admiring the way the flowers above framed the entirety of the garden. A faint smile spread onto her lips as the sunlight beamed in through the spring leaves.
“I can see why you adore this place so much.” Hazel glanced over at your elated expression and couldn’t help but absorb your radiance.
You drop your head as you lock your eyes on hers, watching her lips twitch into a smile. You’ve never seen her full smile until today; teeth and all.
It was a look you’d love to see more often. When she had to keep that knightly emotionless expression on her face, it felt more just like ‘ knight’ and ‘princess’. Right now, it felt like more than that.
Deeper than that.
“At this time in spring is when the wisterias appear the most beautiful,” Hazel states as she looks back up at the dangly flowers.
“And why is that?” You hum, wanting to hear her voice for the rest of your life.
“They’ve fully bloomed, showing their entire selves to us. That’s what’s so beautiful.” Hazel explained as she trekked around the fountain to make her way towards you.
You feel that familiar tension in your chest as she looks at you while moving closer. You were just fine. What was happening to you?
“I wasn’t aware that you were an expert on botany.” You teased as you avoided her gaze at all costs, sitting down at the fountain.
You turned to sit facing her but you were dragging one of your palms through the warm water. You wanted to look at her. You were quite liking it until she began to walk towards you.
“You have no idea how many things I expert in, princess.” Hazel quipped back.
Your cheeks flush scarlet as you continue to distract yourself. It was entirely too hot outside all of a sudden. You had to move locations as much as you’d love to stay in the garden.
“It’s about mid-day. I have go to the stables and feed my horse.” Hazel stated, adjusting her belt once again. “I can escort you to whichever room you’d like before then, princess.”
You finally looked up at her with a tight smile.
“Whichever room?” You question.
Hazel nodded, a faint smile spreading onto her lips. “You are the princess.”
“In that case, is it alright if I accompany you?” You ask her with a hopeful tone.
This didn’t seem to be something that Hazel was expecting from you. There was a moment of shock covering her features before she simply nodded curtly.
Hazel hesitantly replied; “If you wish, princess.”
You frowned. “If I’m intruding—“
If you wish. Why did that bother you so much?
“No, no, no,” Hazel’s tone had changed completely, a lot more gentle this time. “Just… okay, it might smell a bit. The stables, I mean.”
You nod along to her words.
“I know, Hazel. I haven’t been completely kept inside.” You try to lighten up the mood, anticipating to see Hazel’s smile lines once again.
Hazel chuckles to herself, looking down at her boots. A laugh. Even better than what you were hoping for.
“Alright, princess. Follow me then.”
You do so, taking this time to take in her back profile. You’ve never seen it as due to her knightly duties, she always has to stay behind or next to you; never in front.
It sent a shiver down your spine to be breaking the stupid rules with Hazel. Isabel was right.
Maybe you could be friends.
Tumblr media
As you approached the brick stables, an instant deeper and pungent smell filled your senses. You pushed past it as you were entirely too excited to see the horses up close. Hazel grabbed onto the metal handle on the smaller door, tugging on it.
Once it had opened, you had seen a dark horse's head peak out. You slowly inched your way towards him, Hazel had reached into a cloth bag that was on her hip that you hadn’t noticed before.
“Aren’t you a gorgeous horse?” Your voice heightens as you approach the deep-colored horse.
Your parents never really allowed you to get into the stables as they were only meant for the staff and knights. Claimed it was only meant for those who had to be there. As you were standing in front of Hazel’s horse, you hated how you missed out on this because it was ‘too dirty’ for a princess.
Hazel was right behind you now, her hand gripping the handful of hay that she was going to feed him.
“Isn’t he?” She hummed, approaching him with a soft smile.
You nod as you watch her horse gently lower his head to allow her to smooth down the fur on his head. Hazel whispers something to him that you can’t understand.
Whatever she had whispered to him, he seemed to accept the hay instantly. She smiled with contentment, patting the side of his neck.
“What’s his name?” You question, watching him carefully gnaw at the hay straws.
Hazel glanced at you, clearing her throat. You wait patiently for her response, confused when she begins to turn away to search for something.
“Hazel?” You question once more.
“Yes, princess?” She replied, raising her brows at you from her hunched-over position.
Don’t get distracted. She’s supposed to call you that.
“What’s his name?” You raise your brows, focusing on the stallion.
“Peanut,” Hazel replies slowly, wincing slightly as she awaits your reaction.
A sudden laugh left your lips before covering it with your palm. You glanced around the open area around the stables, hearing the birds flutter away from your unexpected laughter.
You stare at Hazel with a straight and teasing smile.
“Peanut?” You tilt your head.
“It’s supposed to be ironic.” Hazel defends with a chuckle. “He’s big, tall, and strong, and well, a peanut is tiny.”
“It’s cute. It suits him very well,” you examine his muzzle and forehead.
You lean in closer, watching his eyes lock on you. He huffs and neighs rather loudly, causing you to back up just as fast as you approach him. You didn't know why or how it had happened but you were latched onto Hazel’s right bicep.
Your grip was tight out of fear that youd angered him. Hazel’s left hand is carefully placed over your own, keeping your hand there.
“Hey, hey, hey,” Hazel mutters to Peanut, her hand that was attached to the one you had a grip on gently caressing his forehead.
“I-I didn't mean to.” You reply, shaking your head.
“He’s okay. I promise. That was my fault for not warning you. He was a war horse before he was mine. It took some time for him to warm up to me. Nearly snapped my arm off the first time I attempted to ride him.” Hazel assured you, keeping one hand on your grip and the other on Peanuts’ head.
Guilt floods into your veins as you watch Hazel calm him down. He had been through so much.
“Oh, poor thing.” You notice he has a scar right underneath his right eye.
You turn your head to look at Hazel and realize you’re still gripping onto her bicep. You release it, muttering another apology as you tried to push away how you noticed the muscle in her upper arm.
“It’s alright. Nothing to worry about, princess.” Hazel assures you with a grin, glancing down at your hand that was once on her body.
“He’s okay?” You ask, worriedly staring at the horse.
“He is. Here.” Hazel clears her throat, pointing to your hand. “May I?”
One thing your mother was right about was Hazel’s professionalism. You rather impulsively latched onto her while she was asking to touch your hand.
You don’t utter a word just lifting your hand to allow her to take it into her palms. A heat rose to your chest as she carefully moved to hold your wrist. You blamed it on the sun’s aggressive rays beaming down onto the back of your head.
“Don’t be sudden with your movements. Be gentle.” Hazel instructs as she carefully places your hand over Peanut’s forehead.
Her voice was just above a whisper, just a few inches away from your ears. You try to focus on how nice his coat of hair felt; not the sudden shivers traveling down your spine from her words.
“Wow.” Hazel spoke up, sounding rather shocked.
“What is it?” You question softly, continuing your movements with Hazel’s more careful grip still on your wrist.
“He usually would be freaking out by now,” Hazel replied, looking down at your wrist. “You really are a special one, princess.”
Special. Princess.
Her words echoed in your mind and rested in your thoughts.
“I am definitely not special. More lucky,” you dismiss her words, wondering why it made you feel both thrilled and uneasy.
“I disagree.” Hazel quips back, eyes locking with yours. “Respectfully, I disagree, princess.”
“Well we’ll just have to agree to disagree.” You grin flatly, wanting the conversation to end.
Before Hazel could mutter anything else to you, you spot Isabel walking into the direction of the stables. You both separated from one another, Peanut becoming completely disregarded.
“Isabel?” You question, smoothing down the front of one of your everyday dresses.
“The, uh, king and queen have requested your presence.” Isabel states, sucking in a deep breath.
“Right, well, I’ll be there.” You nod, giving her a kind smile.
“I’ll escort the princess. Thank you, Isabel.” Hazel nods to your friend.
Isabel’s eyes flicker from you to Hazel, an unfamiliar expression in her face. You scratch at your wrist where Hazel’s warm palm was as she walks away. Hazel gives Peanut one more reassuring pat on his neck before carefully shutting the top-half of the door.
“After you, princess.” Hazel moved to the side and bowed out of respect.
Back to knight and princess.
You begin to trek forward as you notice a few guards holding the doors open for the three of you. Isabel was walking right by your side, silently watching you. She wanted to say something. You know it.
“I see you and Hazel are becoming friends now.” Isabel hummed, glancing at the guards to nod in their direction.
“I suppose. She’s become more… open.” You reply back.
You were hoping that the charming knight hadn’t heard your words. She was merely a few feet behind you so you tried to keep your volume low.
“That’s good. She had told me you—“
“What did she tell you?” You didn't mean to seem so eager but considering Isabel flinched, it was entirely too much.
“That you hadn’t spoken to her other than ‘yes’ and ‘thank you’. She thinks you think she’s not paying attention to you.” Isabel reveals to you before looking at you once again. “She wants to get to know you.”
“Yeah, I’ve… realized that now.” Your mind flickers from the few shared moments no more than two hours ago. The library, Frankenstein, the garden. Special princess.
As you approach the throne room, you spot more than ten guards carrying luggage. You spot your mother and father instructing these guards out the front entrance of the palace.
“Mother? Father?” You call out to them, confusion written all over your features.
Your father turns in his place, eyes locking on your shorter figure. He glances behind you on Isabel and Hazel.
“We’re going to be traveling across the waters to a new kingdom to see if there are any other princes who you haven’t completely degraded. It’ll be three weeks time, at most a month before we return.” Your father motions to all of the heavy wood suitcases.
The words settled in and you weren’t as angry as you would have been. This is usually when you and your father would have a screaming argument about how they were wasting their time leaving.
“Oh, well, have safe travels. I hope you both come back healthy and well.” You simply reply, folding your hands respectfully.
“Ah, well, it seems like Dame Callahan has been a good influence on you this past week.” Your mother’s tone was rather shocked with how you weren’t starting a screaming match with your father.
You bite your tongue at the looks your father and mother were sending you. All it took was for a ‘safe travels’ for them to not be angry with you for a moment?
“I trust Dame Callahan will keep you in line. You know you mustn’t leave the palace gates, indoors by sundown, and you must be attending those etiquette lessons once a day except for Saturday and Sunday as Mrs. DuBois is home.” Your mother quickly explained the rules but all you heard was ‘a month without you guys breathing down my neck’.
“Yes, mother. I will be here.” You sigh to yourself, waiting for them to be on their way.
“Well then, Dame Callahan?” You hear your father address Hazel.
“Yes, your majesty. I won’t let the princess out of my sight.” She states calmly but you were more than calm.
You were over excited for their leave. You walked over to very stiffly hug and bid them goodbye. Physical touch wasn’t something you received from your parents often. Only orders and scoldings.
The carriage at the entrance of the palace was piled in the back full of your parents' luggage. You, Isabel, and Hazel stood on the very top step to wave them bye as the driver yielded for the horse to go onward.
“You seem happy.” Isabel hummed, a grin forming on her face.
“Me? No. I’m absolutely heartbroken that my parents will be leaving for the next month.” You reply in a flat tone, turning to her and smiling at the end of your sentence.
You’re about to be forced into marriage as you knew you weren’t going to have much say in this next suitor. You might as well try to make the most of the next month before then.
“And what do you plan to do for the next month, princess?” Hazel’s voice causes you to jump and flush as you had forgotten she could hear you.
You clear your throat with a smile, nodding your head.
“You wouldn’t tell my parents, would you?” You question Hazel.
Her eyes lock on yours with a small shrug. That wasn’t a no nor a yes. You’ll take it.
“I still have to look after you, princess.” Hazel replied.
“You’ll be there as well, Dame Callahan.”
You were sure of it.

“Y/n!” Josie called as she practically ran across the quad to reach you, PJ following behind her.
Josie looked ecstatic, which could only mean one thing. She had set you up on yet another blind date. At first you thought it was sweet that your friends had wanted you to get with someone, especially after your continuous complaints about being single, but now you were just tired of it. None of the dates were successful, and after last week's one with that air-headed jock, you didn’t want any part of PJ and Josie’s “matchmaking skills”.
You forced a smile as Josie and PJ reached you, trying not to show how fed up you were with all of this. “Hey guys,” you said, acting as if you didn’t already know what they were up to.
Josie sat down beside you on the bench, trying to catch her breath from having run over to you. “So, do we have news for you!” Josie finally said, grinning excitedly.
Josie opened her mouth to continue speaking, only to be immediately cut off by PJ. “Josie got you another date. And hopefully this one’ll actually work out so you’ll finally stop bitching about being single.”
“You do that too, y’know,” you shot back, irked by PJ’s abrasive personality.
She just grinned in response. “Yeah, but it’s not annoying when I do it.”
“Anyways…” Josie cut in, trying to get the conversation back on topic. “You have a date tonight at 8pm. Her name is Lacy, she’s a science major, and I showed her your picture and she thinks you’re cute.”
“No thanks,” you huffed, not even trying to disguise your disinterest.
Josie and PJ looked baffled by your response, not understanding why you would shut this down.
“No thanks?” PJ asked, scoffing as she shoved your shoulder. “Is this about that last date we sent you on? I swear, I didn’t know he was so… dull. That one’s on Josie. But you need to go, Lacy’s interested and you need to not be single any more.”
“Yeah, I really should’ve known better than to set you up with a guy named Chad. But Lacy’s really great, I think you’d like her,” Josie said, sounding much less forceful than PJ.
You shook your head, dismissing both of their points. “I get it, and I’m sure Lacy’s nice, but I just can’t keep doing these blind date things. This is like the fifth one. And besides… I’m kinda interested in someone else.”
“Wait, seriously? So you’re telling me that we wasted all of that time trying to set you up with people, and you like someone else?!” PJ grumbled, annoyed at you despite having had little to no part in the actual setting you up with someone part of things.
“Why didn’t you tell us? We could’ve helped you try to get with them,” Josie said, a bit disappointed about things, but not nearly as upset as PJ.
You sighed, looking at the ground as you fiddled with your necklace. “Because, it’s never gonna happen. She’d never be interested in me. And I really do appreciate you guys trying to set me up with someone, but I just want Hazel.”
Unbeknownst to the three of you, Hazel was heading over to you guys, completely unaware of the topic of discussion, which just so happened to transition to her. But as she walked over, she did manage to catch the last thing you said. Her eyes widened and she felt her heart flutter in her chest. Hazel would be lying if she said she didn’t have a major crush on you. One that she’s been harboring since high school. And to hear you say that you liked her back… that was just about the best thing that ever could’ve happened to her.
“Oh… Hazel! Hey…” PJ said awkwardly, finally noticing the girl’s presence.
You immediately tensed up and felt your face grow hot. Your mind raced in panic, hoping and praying that Hazel didn’t just hear what you had said.
“Hey guys! Whatcha talking about?” Hazel asked, sitting down on the other side of the bench, sandwiching you between her and Josie.
“Science homework!” “Clothes!” Josie and PJ blurted out at the same time.
You felt yourself growing increasingly nervous, especially with Hazel sitting so close to you, and you became desperate for an out. So you took what Josie said and ran with it.
“Speaking of science homework, I better get going. I have a paper I have to finish. Bye!” you rambled, hurriedly grabbing your things before bolting off in the direction of your dorm room, leaving your friends behind.
“Well that was weird…” Hazel said.
PJ shrugged, “You know y/n. They’re always like that. Really weird.”
“Anyways, while we’re talking about y/n, I need your guys’ help with something…”
~
You grumbled as you trudged over to your door, the incessant knocking driving you mad. You threw open the door, ready to rip whoever was on the other side a new one, when you came face to face with Josie, who had that same ecstatic look on her face that always appeared when she had secured you another date.
“No! I’m not going on another blind date! I’m sure Lacy’s great, but I told you that-”
“It’s not with Lacy,” Josie said, cutting you off.
You raised an eyebrow in confusion. “I thought you were setting me up with Lacy tonight?”
Josie waved her hands dismissively, “Yeah, I was. But… now it’s with someone else. Just trust me, okay?”
“I already told you-”
“I know. But please, just this last one. And then I’ll never bring it up again. I promise.”
You contemplated this for a moment. On one hand, you really didn’t want to go on another blind date. But on the other hand, you really did want Josie and PJ to stop bothering you with all of this. What was the harm of spending one more night on a horrible date to finally get Josie and PJ to leave this alone?
You sighed, giving in. “Alright, fine. But this is the last one.”
“Great!” Josie said, grabbing your hand and all but dragging you out of your room.
“Josie, what are you doing?”
“Taking you to your date.”
“What?! Now?! I look horrible! Don’t you at least want me to attempt to have a successful date?”
“It’s fine! And besides, you look great! You always do. So stop complaining, and have fun!” she replied, pushing you towards an open door before you could even process whose room it was.
“Wait-” you said, turning around to talk to Josie, only to have the door slammed shut, leaving you alone in some rando’s dorm room.
“Great,” you mumbled under your breath, turning around to see who you were stuck with for the next hour or so, only to see Hazel standing there, smiling awkwardly.
“Hi…” she said, taking a step towards you.
“Hazel? You’re who Josie set me up with?”
She nodded. “Yeah. But only because I asked her to. I… I kinda overheard you in the quad today.”
You felt your stomach sink at her words. “...You did?”
“Mhm. And I was going to say something to you, but I wasn’t like entirely sure that it was me you were talking about cause I don’t know how many other Hazels are here. So I asked PJ and Josie to help me because I didn’t want to embarrass myself.”
You smiled at her words, feeling a tiny bit less nervous. “So I guess it’s safe to assume that you like me too?”
Hazel laughed softly as she nodded again. “Yep. I’ve actually liked you since high school…”
“Wait, really?”
“Yeah. Is that bad…?”
You quickly shook your head, finally walking over to her. “No! It’s just… I’ve liked you since high school too. God, we’re such idiots.”
Hazel smiled. “We really are.”
“So… what did you have planned for our date?”
“I thought we could maybe watch a movie? I asked Josie what your favorite one was. If that’s okay with you…?”
You nodded excitedly, sitting down on Hazel’s bed, Hazel quickly following suit. “Definitely, but only if we watch your favorite movie too.”
Hazel smiled, leaning her head against your shoulder. “I’d love that.”
