🌿You wash his hair and massage his head, you tell him to close his eyes and you treat him so delicately. He's never felt this kind of care before, this good goosebump feeling, the hairs on his neck standing on end at the slightest touch from you. He loves it.

🍂 But you know Arthur, he might have that tough guy exterior, might come across as harsh and angry and well, rough... But underneath it he's hiding a delicate side, a side that you know would benefit from just a little self care.

🍂 Is genuinely petrified of the shop Lush, crosses the street so he doesn't even have to walk past the front door. He's scared one of the shop assistants will lure him in with a polite hello and then drag him inside kicking and screaming, smothering him in all sorts of oils and bath shite. Once when you were just dropping in to buy a facemask he caught your hand and very very seriously told you to "be careful in there love, don't let anyone grab you" he even shuddered/had a nervous twitch as he watched you go in.

🍂 He doesn't know how to be taken care of, as the eldest son its always been his responsibility to take care of everyone else, he hasn't really been shown much love or care from many people. Most people are terrified of him, his brother who he should be closest to doesn't let him talk about feelings, and he's too embarassed about admiting "failure" to go to his aunt or anyone else for comfort.

🍂 From the first time you spoke to him you've been determined to show him that care. You looked at him, his nervous eyes, that lack of self confidence he was doing so well to hide, and you just thought "this is a man who needs a hot bath and a really good head massage"

🍂 But Arthur is so awkward and standoffish whenever you try to look after him. He hates it if you're "soft" on him because he thinks its imasculating and patronising. He finds it all so embarrassing and he'll go the most adorable shade of bright red whenever you so much as kiss his cheek.

🍂 The first time you suggest a nice candlelit bath he gets interested but thats because baths are literally just for fucking as far as he's concerned and he's dissapointed to realise that you have something else in mind.

🍂 But once you're alone together in that bath he finally begins to relax. You tell him to close his eyes and at first he refuses or asks why. "Cause its better for relaxing..." "You're gonna do somet to me aren't you... Gonna use one of them fuckin mud potions..." "Promise I'm not..." you try to take his anxiety seriously but "mud potions" is a difficult thing not to laugh at.

🍂 He does his best to relax though and grows to love the feeling of your fingers in his hair, it really does feel like a weight being lifted.

🍂 His favourite thing is to close his eyes and lie back against your chest, the skin on skin contact, the steam and warm water doing wonders to slow his racing mind right down.

🍂 You give him hand massages a lot and he really likes learning how to give them to you too. You teach him where your pressure points are and he concentrates really hard on learning exactly how to take care of you too.

🍂 And sometimes when you're in the bath together you let your hand travel a little lower than usual, you let his idea of bath time win out.

🍂 You take him to a spa and he's so unnerved, he's worried he'll be recognised by someone and his reputation of being a ferocious gangster will be ruined. But he does like the sauna, trouble is it puts him in the mood for fucking...

🍂 Doesnt like a steam room, he feels too vulnerable in there because its dark and steamy and he gets claustrophobic not being able to see so well. If you go into the steam room he will stand guard outside so that nothing bad can happen to you in there.

🍂 You teach him lots of different breathing exercises and try to get him into stretching. They're such effective ways of relieveing tension and you know they'd do him the world of good. But he's not very flexible and he just grumbles. He is however astounded by how bendy you are and will often ask you to show him certain poses just so he can get a good look at you.

🍂 He does try to remember the breathing exercises and they do actually really help him with his ptsd.

Whenever you offer he always starts on you, squeezing your shoulders, telling you you seem tense. He's such a smooth talker you don't even realise he's derailed your plan until he's smoothing warm lavender oil over your back, working your muscles skillfully. And when you do realise you don't want to ask him to stop.

🍀 Ultimately though Bonnie's idea of self care is a day in the woods, or by a river with you. Somewhere peaceful, quiet. Lying back against a tree trunk with you in his arms.

- cant really motivate him well so he justs does a war cry and it works really well, they just communicate in movements & weird sounds sometimes, no better advice than "WHAGGHHHH"

Doc ock, in this earth Otto doesnt earn the name doc ock till much later. He tried to make it big in nyc but embarassed himself so bad he ended up in the midwest. Hes trying to regain his pride and show the world who he really is. He stays within a junk yard finding the easy access to parts to be a god send, he has been caught stealing from the small art center though. Given hes still young hi whole "villain career" is starting out pretty rocky. It also doesnt help hes usually stopped by an equally clumsy hero. He wont admit it but it is nice to have someone who sorta gets his struggles. Spring is the most lenient with him given he can usually just be talked to and not fought. In the future these two head off to NYC to be with the big heros and villains, still keeping in touch.

Vulture, in this universe Turkey Vulture. "midwestern dad that stands on the porch during a tornado warning" pretty much his entire vibe. Vulture is a scientist enamoured with wind and its dangerous power, tornados are a big interest for him. During an experiment involving the local turkey vultures, the lab went wrong fusing the man with the bird. He gained wings, talons, and a stronger hunger to harness the power of the wind. Currently married to a bird watcher named Constance he has tamed down the more outlandish experiments. Not 100% though, he'll still rob a bank for money. Spring loves to tease the man and "threaten" to call his wife when hes getting in trouble.

Lizard (no ref but featured in springs ref) a small lizard man who find love in the fancy. Constantly stealing. More annoying than threatening. Spring notes lizard to be the most active villain

Giant Corn (mentioned, small doodle) legit exactly how it sounds. Its a giant mutant corn monster who usually attacks the drive in. Weirdly the most destructive villain. When it gets angry it can pop like popcorn

Overall its a young spiderspring getting her footing with a group of odd villains to help her practice.

Even though Fumus doesn't exactly abuse his creations the way canon Fumus does, Nadine was still not quite satisifed living in his world. this Fumus is not a blatant abuser, but he still is strict and a dictator. Nadine hates discipline , she's sort of a free spirit who hates routine. Also she dreamed of seeing other worlds and under Fumus' control it would not be possible. So despite not being abused, she just wasn't happy, so she left anyway. (a lot under cut)

Nadine left to a pitch-black world bc it felt like the safest option - Satanick rules there, and she somewhat knows him - she doesn't feel happy in Fumus' world but she was still dependent on him so she needed a safety cushion in th form of Fumus' brother. Plus she was curious about Stnk's world.

Reason why she changed her looks to black was because she saw Fumus having Pitch black hair once and it was such an unusual occurence to her that it was engraved in her memory

Nadine has confusing feelings about Fumus in this universe, because she didnt feel happy in his world and she disagreed with his ways a lot. But at the same time, since he was her god and basically created and raised her, subconcsiously she misses him - not out of pure love but more of a 'what if' feeling; she misses what he could have been had he accepted her for who she is. Plus she has an instinct akin to what kids have - if something is terrible and very dire in her life happens, her first instinct is to flee back to him. However, she pushes those thoughts away and tries to face problems on her own.

Ironically, since Fumus doesnt manipulate nor brainwashes, nor abuses her, Nadine is more open to her feelings and doesn't try to excuse him and hence she is angry at him for keeping her 'on a short leash' and wishes he could have been "better than that"

She's still afraid of him, but not in the same way canon Chlomaki is, just in a "i left my creator and if I come back I have no idea what he'll do to me and i better not find out. also I feel ashamed and guilty for leaving" deep down.

Since Nadine was a naughty angel, she managed to see Fumus in situations others couldnt, but she got in trouble for it. She can see that her god hides a lot of secrets from them and when she was Nadine, she would think about it a lot and feel sad, but later her worries wore off as she started living her new life.

kado doesnt care to hide his feelings so if he was really angry it would be an instant explosion but he is slower to anger than youd expect i think. surprisingly! maybe he doesnt look the type but he is. petty and random insignificant things can annoy him but he'll mostly deal with them with laughing at them, ridiculing them, etc instead of going in swinging....he loves to complain and be annoying and telling people straight up when he doesnt like them but i think its harder to make him like actually really mad (hes pretty much completely the opposite of kite in this way, who suppresses her anger until shes about to either faint from stress or actually kill someone)

His hands tangle on his friends oversized suit, one he heard tubbo said wanted to get rid of a long time ago, and mutters: "Lets just go. Right now. Fuck it, the world hasnt been kind to us, so lets just leave"

Tubbo, understandably, refuses. "And what of everything we built on here? If- If doomsday does happen, what will be of Ghostbur's libray! The bakery…! Our- Our…" Our lives. he wanted to add.

But all of that actually died with lmanberg a long time ago. None of them want to accept that. New lmanberg was a husk of what it used to be. The best they could do at the time over the corpse of a nation. Tubbo knows that.

"It doesnt matter! Just… let's grab- grab the books. Grab friend. Tell ranboo of- i don't know- our general direction. And i'll make sure ghostbur knows-" Tommy tries to breath, slow and sucking in a lot of air. He fails.

Tubbo plays with the suit he wanted so bad to burn. Underneath, his original shirt barely saw the light of day those days. He wanted to change that so bad, but…

Broken horns making the illusion of once being curled to the back on the head of his, leafy green shirt badly buttoned and scars covering his forehead; He laughs the hardest and seems always full of a strange whimsy.

To his side, his friend and second on charge. White and red shirt, golden-brown hair, bandages in only one of his wrists instead of most of his body, a blue sweater tied around his hips. He smiles brightly and looks around, out of habit than anything else. And he smiles wider at the sight of everyone beside him.

He feels… maybe not at peace, not yet. But he is happy knowing the only trouble he'll get into is one made by his own hand. And even then, nothing too big. A one day adventure at most.

When the tiny city wakes with the moon, everywhere you'll see is full of luminous decorations, a good part made out of vines that shine and feed its cohabitants; Multi-color paper signs with various cuts to make figures are seen too, and many flags with a familiar color palette, the ones representing the home of this people forgotten by time and the world.

And this hidden, but thriving community born from the selfish decision of a teen was called…

gerry wishes him good luck and tells him "take care of yourself yeah? if not for you, then for me." and that alone fills martin with some determination to actually get better. he doesnt know when gerry will be back, so he'll just. get better. he'll try. for gerry.

truly what happens is that he gets two years older and just a lot more accepting of what he's living in, so he jsut naturally gets better just by living basically the same way. he tries to take walks more tho, and starts writing again, cuz why not, gets into witchcraft again cuz he missed it (also a hc of mine, kinda crack, kinda serious), starts making tea for himself and then his coworkers

by 20, almost 21, he's still unwell per say, he's still depressed, but at least he's trying to do things he likes. thats what counts, hes trying. and he likes that. also he got a bit taller. and bigger, one of his jobs is kinda physically taxing so it just happens naturally

so when gerry comes back and sees martin smile at him, which never fucking happened before, also hes taller. and has muscle on his arms. and more freckles, look at that wow "i like men" basically

No thoughts only Keefe training under Elwin to become a healer.

Just think about it, for a while now I feel as if Keefe has seen himself as someone whoes only capable of destruction. Growing up he sort of defaulted to chaos and pranks, and doesnt really seem to put any thought into the more intimate stuff if you know what I mean? (I haven't read the books in a bit so forgive me if I'm wrong but : Ex : I feel like if a friend of his were to be hurt, his immediate reaction would be "how can I punish the person who hurt my friend" (that sounds so intense but yknow its normally like, mostly harmless prank) rather than "what can I say to this person to make them feel better)

And he says things along the lines of "Im not good with this emotion stuff" multiple times in the first few books, despite literally being an empath and also..not...really ...being that bad...at comforting people. (sometimes). Which just further goes into the point of seeing destructive" nature n such.

THATS A LONG RANT BUT I JUST WANNA SEE HIM UNLEARNING THAT STUFFF

(also with his new ability ,, ik we've mostly seen the harmful things it can do, but given how vauge it is I cant imagine it would be hard to turn it into a positive thing (once he gets more control))

I think I understand what you're talking about in that first part, with how he's an agent of chaos and trouble and generally makes things worse/messes them up and that's just how he sees himself now. Which is an interesting contrast with his status as the artist of the group as well, though he does undersell his talents in that area. He dismisses the things he can create because he associates himself with so much trouble and pain that of course he couldn't make anything beautiful. I suppose another way to phrase it is that he's not delicate. He's precise and methodical (at times), but his existence is not gentle. And because of that, he's not great at being intimate either. He can't approach it soothing and attentive, he just ends up barreling into those situations and being vague as he desperately and frustratedly tries to back out of it. That's in part Shannon making his thoughts/emotions obvious for us as the readers and using the excuse that Sophie is oblivious and that's why she doesn't notice what to us is so obvious, but we can also attribute it to how clumsy Keefe is--not physically, but more socially. For an empath, he's really not that great at relationships (I don't mean this romantically, I mean any relationship he has).

Just realized that you said something about him being bad at emotions despite being an empath. That's what I get for just going ahead with the first thought I think of without reading everything!! He just doesn't view himself positively at all! Keefe is walking around here like I am a disaster in elven form and sees what he wants to see instead of who he is. he sees himself as disruptive and unhelpful (he does think he can help, just not in the ways people want him to) and no matter what he does he'll rework whatever happens to fit with his view of himself and the world. If he found someone breaking down and crying and offered the most comforting, perfect words of support, he'd walk away from that encounter convinced he hadn't done enough, that someone else could do it better.

That's a big thing with his character, too! Comparing himself to others. A lot of comparing himself to Fitz, some comparing himself to Tam, and maybe some Dex but that one not as much. He's constantly finding ways to tell himself that he's not worth anything and that there are people who are better than him and more capable than him and people he can never live up too. He's setting that up in his mind so no matter what happens he'll take it as reinforcement of that belief.

That was a lot of Keefe analysis without talking about the healer aspect of it, but I wonder if Keefe could find ways to appreciate and accept himself by telling others to do the same. Because he would never tell anyone else to treat themselves the way he's treating himself, so I think it's something he hasn't even realized yet. And one day there might be that little click of oh. all these people I'm helping and I'm trying to get them to stop thinking like me, yet I'm letting myself go on like this. And if he's alongside Elwin I know he would've been trying to teach Keefe this and slowly incorporate the unlearning into his daily life and letting Keefe figure it out on his own. Because as soon as something looks like help Keefe shies away from it, so instead of outright helping, Elwin set Keefe up to help himself. Boom.

That's another thought I have about Keefe sometimes, the ways people say like "oh he needs therapy," which is true but also...not? This is just my personal opinions on the subject nor am I trying to discredit the effectiveness of therapy! I just know that a lot of therapy being effective is the openness and willingness to engage with it, to take what you're told and apply it to your life and be honest about it with others. Maybe a better way to phrase it is that Keefe needs the lessons taught in therapy and the benefits of therapy, without actually going to therapy. Because I really don't think he'd be open to the idea of talking to someone and engaging in the experience. But then again, that's just my personal opinions on the nuance of it all!

So perhaps by becoming a healer, he could learn those lessons and unlearn what he "knows" (doesn't actually know just thinks it's true) about himself that way. Just a thought though. By helping others he learns to help himself in a way that enables him to be more open, if that makes sense.

as for the ability, he really did panic and make an impulse decision (that he himself said he would regret) before the full scope of what is actually is was realized. He saw a possible potential it could have and went nope!! it didn't have time to settle, to solidify, to express itself in any other way that what he saw as negative. That ties back into seeing himself as destructive no matter what, as well. he sees this ability as negative no matter what, regardless of what he does with it. I will admit that his panicked slippery slope reasoning does irk me a little, like he gives his mom way too much credit (in my opinion) for what she could've done to him. She did two very broad things, hitting him with light and dark at the same time and he somehow thinks it has the precision for her to accurately make a super specific ability?? He's out here like "oh no she's made it so I can predict people's abilities and force them to manifest so she can take advantage of the entire population and she has this whole plan with that specific ability as the key." Like...no. I do not believe that for a single second, Keefe.

On the one hand he was panicking and it was really easy to see these wildly impossible things as conceivable, but on the other hand he really went out there. This is a personal grievance though

but back to the original topic!! I think Keefe would be a fascinating character to have as a healer for a variety of reasons, so thanks for bringing up the topic again! there's so many different avenues to explore !!
