The second target was - somehow - more inhospitable than the first. 

To get in, Clem kicked the front door in. When they had warned Fina they were going to do it, she had been excited, expecting something epic - a mighty battle with an impenetrable slab that they emerged from, exhausted but victorious. As it was, the door gave in after the first collision, rotten wood splitting inwards easily. 

The disappointment must have shown on her face. After picking their way in and holding out a hand to help her, Clem smiled. “Don’t worry. There will be other doors. You can beat the next one down, if you want.”

10k into my totk time travel fic and honestly this is so going much more lighthearted than I expected. One Piece: Dub vs Sub?

I put in a comment yesterday on Instagram saying I watch One Piece English Dub (obviously not the 4kids English dub, that needs to be destroyed). I had so many people saying I’m not a real fan and I’m wrong about the Funimation dub being good. I’ve watched both dub and sub (long story about why I watch some in dub and some in dub but that’s a story for another day). The two are different. Sub is amazing but dub has some seriously great voice actors who do a great job. A lot of them are absolute VA legends. Here are some of them that may make you laugh a little when you see the characters with the same VA:

#94 - Citizen Soldier - Mess of Me

It’s one of those days where everything’s a mess.  No, he’s the mess.  He’s the mess and he doesn’t know if he can hold it down long enough to find a place to just disappear from the sight of them. He’s supposed to be watching the kids but the voices are loud and the feeling of hands brushing down his skin is ever present. He’s having another “attack” as Cid would call it.  Cid told him these moments were episodes and they were related to his PTSD. 

The kids were with Lisa. The kids were with Lisa, he could take a moment for himself or several.  No one else can know. No one else needs to know about the hell he went through in that castle of false joy - though he has a feeling they’ve made assumptions since they all saw the way he was so mercilessly dispatched by way of his own blade all that time ago.  

That little demon may have died in body but he was certainly alive inside in mind. He can’t talk about it. He can’t talk to anyone because The Blade Does Not Weep and if he does surely Black Wind will have something to say about it. He can’t talk to anyone because if he lets the monster out he doesn’t know how to get it back in.  He’s afraid of the torrent of emotion that will escape him if he lets up his vigilant stand for even a second. 

But he can’t hold it back forever. 

He’s slipped off to the upper levels of the Hayakawa’s home, found an empty room and kept the lights off. Human eyes cannot see the glow that Windarain eyes can - can they? He just needs a moment to himself. He’ll return to them momentarily right as rain and no one will ever have to know about these episodes of his. No one will ever have to know about this PTSD. Cid has given him all sorts of suggestions to manage these moments but nothing ever works. 

Grounding he called it. Naming off things he can see, hear, touch and smell. Engaging his senses to try to ground himself in the hear and now and help dampen the tricks his mind is playing on him. He can hear footsteps. Two pairs. Small. 

The kids. 

He can hear tiny heartbeats and tiny lungs. He can hear the kids and they’re coming closer. They’re looking for him, and he’s setting in a dark room trying avoid anything and everyone. Lisa doesn’t sound like she’s with them at least, but how is he supposed to lie to them if they find him like this? He’s practically balled himself up with knees to his chest just to make it harder for his phantoms to touch him.  

He can’t bring his head up when he hears feet stop at the door. They’re there. He can feel their eyes on him even when he doesn’t look up. Even when he keeps his forehead pressed to his knees and his arms wrapped around himself. He needs a moment to compose himself and this moment wasn’t nearly long enough. 

Slowly does he tip his head up to let one jade eye shine in their direction. There’s distress in his vision even if he’s trying to will such a thing away. 

“ It's okay, I'm alright.  “

sorry im just thinking about the people claiming dnf has no possibility of being real and saying it would be unhealthy for dream because that is just sooooo devaluing of their friendship as a whole regardless of if you believe they’re dating or not. because one thing that’s absolutely undeniable is how much they love and adore each other and how endlessly supportive they are of each other and just how GOOD they are for each other so to devalue that just to prove some point to dnfers is truly just gross. to think that wouldn’t extend into them potentially dating is just you being purposely dense and trying to paint george as this bad person who wouldn’t treat dream well when all we see and hear about is how well he treats dream.
