1869. After a failed part in a failed rebellion, Lithuanian noble Tauras Laurinaitis flees his homeland rather than risk being sent to Siberia. Guilt-ridden, he is determined to keep the memory of his country alive the only way he can: printing and smuggling books in a language now outlawed by the Russian Empire. But what happens when he catches the eye of a certain Prussian gendarme? Will Tauras be able to keep his smuggling, and his past, a secret?

Hi, May I ask how everyones relationship with the Baltics. Like, do they live in Russias house? Like working in the house as servants, or are they in their own country?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Latvia and Estonia have been living here with us since 1710. They do their little duties as servants well, and do not get in the way. They're miserable company, so we do not interact with them much, and they seem to prefer that. They get along better with the other staff. And they seem to be friends between themselves. Their nations are run by our officials, and they do not need to bother with silly things like how their people are doing. Which is always well. Everyone is doing well under the Russian empire." || One Baltic is missing, oops. He's busy with his fast crumbling marriage commonwealth and will be joining soon too. ||

Finland and Estonia for an art trade with @nordickies ✨
I admit I don't know too much about these two countries, but I do love researching and I did want to do a historical twist to it. The thing that kept popping up for me was how Estonia became so technologically advanced earlier than other previously Soviet countries, and how Finland was a huge influence in providing a western perspective among all the Russian media.
These two are best friends and something they bond over has to be technology and media with how advanced they both are in it 💖

Hetalia fandom: oh we love historical stuff❤️
Actual people from their actual countries, who know history and explain why [any never-soviet country] worshipping russia, as well as "soviet siblings" is a huge harmful lie, as well as why communism and soviet aesthetic fucking suck:

Today is Estonian Flag Day so I want to give a big reminder to the fandom.
Tumblr media
Fuck the Estonian Cross flag, I don't care if Himaruya made it canon that von Bock is "even making his own flag for when he's accepted as a Nordic".
We fought for this flag and won't just replace it jUsT tO bE nOrdIC.
We have THE ORIGINAL from the early 1880's STILL with us because of the effort of the Estonian Student Society hiding it away from the Soviets who would have destroyed it in an instant.
Tumblr media
This flag was used to represent our nationality, our language, our culture and who we are. Baltic Germans and Russians tried to oppress us but we refused to stand down and allow our identity to be erased.
During the War of Independence it was chosen as the flag to represent us during the war.
The sinimustvalge did not become Estonia's OFFICIAL flag till 1922, there were many options on what we would make the official Republic of Estonia's flag (there among the choices BEING A CROSS FLAG) but the people chose the beloved tricolour.
The USSR made it illegal to own the Estonian flag, but even so people would try to keep one in secret. Many got arrested and some even deported for owning this flag.
It was seen as a magnificent step towards freedom when we were able to wave this flag again without getting punished for it.
The Sinimustvalge flag is an important part of our identity which represents who we are.
The colours represent a variety of things:
Blue - The Baltic sea, the lakes, rivers, springs, sky, our loyal spirits, hope and faith in a bright future.
Black - Our torturous and dark history that we have been through, the Estonian soil, in poems black is considered a colour of love.
White - Snow, white nights during the summer, love, hope and the fighting we had to do for education and spiritual light, the white bark of our birch trees.
Estonia is not some "Luckiest Baltic". That is shamefully invalidating the agony my ancestors went through for centuries just for being Estonian.
I know that Pride month is about pride over our romantic, sexual and gender identities, but for Estonians this day in this month is a day we are PROUD TO BE ESTONIAN.
We survived centuries of slavery, famine, our land being a constant battlefield, ethnic cleansing, erasure of our culture and beliefs. Many times our voices had gotten silenced, our rights as human beings violated, beaten, tortured, removed from our homes and families. We were called things, savages, our identity was seen as some sort of inferior race, it was always "Want a good life? Become German/Russian or stay poor".
We may live in a free country now, but the scars of colonization run deep, it may not show so easily for we aren't the most expressive about it, but the trauma can be awakened in any Estonian who knows what their ancestors have been through.
Our flag represents the fact that we are still here. We are survivors. We refused to die when it seemed like that's all the world wanted. We are free and proud to be who we are. No one can take that away from us.
The cross flag we aren't attached to, why should we be? There's nothing in the symbolism of it either that would be good for us. A cross? A cross that gets associated with Christianity? The very thing that began our suffering and was in the early days of it the whole reason?
Estonia's one and only true flag is the tricolour and nothing will change that.
Sharing this so the fandom becomes more aware would be appreciated. We as a fandom should work to always be better, Himaruya is a heavily flawed person so we shouldn't treat his word like some grand truth, especially when he does things like this.
