I’m forever going to be angry that Firestar made Brackenfur Hollypaw’s mentor and didn’t just give her to Brightheart. And then he promised her she would be given an apprentice later and then just, gave Icepaw and Foxpaw to Whitewing and Squirrelflight??? And then when Whitewing moved into the nursery before she could finish training Icepaw, who became her replacement mentor? You guessed it, Brackenfur.

Foxpaw too needed a temporary mentor when Squirrelflight left to help the Tribe with something and again, he wasn’t given to Brightheart. Sorreltail became his temporary mentor. Like, Firestar really couldn’t let her train anyone other than Jaypaw? Even for a short while??

What bugs me even more about this is that Brightheart being specifically Hollypaw’s mentor could’ve tied in later. There could’ve been scenes in Hollyleaf’s story where she remembered everything Brightheart taught her about navigating in the dark, how to judge the distance between you and any sort of obstacle using her whiskers. This is literally referenced later in Omen of the Stars when Hollyleaf is training ThunderClan in the tunnels to prepare for WindClan’s invasion. Hollyleaf calls upon Brightheart to share her knowledge of fighting with limited vision.

Erins?? What the heck??? I know that Omen of the Stars wasn’t planned when you wrote Brackenfur as Hollypaw’s mentor but either way you did not need to do Brightheart that dirty.

I can imagine after Hollypaw was given to Brackenfur Sandstorm came up to Brightheart like “you too huh” cause in the first arc Firestar gave Tawnypaw to Brackenfur instead of her.

Lol not to be girlie girl but like what if

leafpool fretted over her sister’s “kits” so much that thunderclan endearingly started referring to her as the 3’s second mother.

It would make sense, since of course leafpool couldn’t have kits of her own, so her nephews and niece would fit perfectly into that role for her.

And like- squirrelflight obviously didn’t care in the slightest because of the love she had for her sister. Plus it gave her the chance to stretch her legs whenever the other queens were busy.

very funny how hollyleaf never suspects anything suspicious about fallen leaves. he talks about his past in vague and cryptic ways, he never eats in front of her, he disappears at night, at one point he vanishes from right in front of her. but she's just like "yeah he's having a Boy Moment i guess"
