In the hsr au, would one of the Aeon take notice of Shiki's unique powers, and what would they're would be?
There are actually discussions about this in the Discord! The likeliest possibilities are IX (Nihility) and Nanook (Destruction).

You know, if self aware honkai star rail was real and they could hear everything I'm saying out loud, they wouldn't hear my voice. I say basically nothing throughout the entire game, and it's all in my head.
But they certainly heard my dad watching John Wick 3 at full volume with aggressive gunshots and death SFX.

800 words, jing yuan x fem!reader, royal arranged marriage au
You knew today was supposed to be a big day. Not just for you, but for everyone in Xianzhou. Your entire life led up to this day… this moment.
Your childhood was adorned with the finest of luxuries. The finest of nannies and butlers, the most credible of professors and tutors, the most refined of artistic instructors, the most rigorous of royal training. Yet, all of these addends still don’t equate the ultimate sum. Your role in life was, and is, not that of a ruler. You are to be the shadow. All of this training, only to serve as the crutch of a family’s honor. And who would you hold up rather than the future general?
Jing Yuan has been in your life since your birth. The two of you were sometimes laid to rest in the same bed as children. But this doesn’t mean that you still speak with him… not by any means. The last time you saw the young general was the evening of your tenth birthday. The two of you parted ways to begin preparing yourselves to be the new faces of Xianzhou. Both of your parents insisted that you not see each other until your engagement, to avoid any ‘youthful nonsense,’ as they called it.
So here you sit, facing a vanity mirror. Various women fuss over your appearance, perfecting every detail. It feels like you’ve been sitting for hours. You yawn before someone closes your mouth for you.
“Now, Ms. Y/N, there’s no reason for you to be tired! It’s quite disrespectful to not give your full attention to those around you! Keep your shoulders up and your gaze graceful!”
An older woman scolds you, and you laugh softly. You’re nervous about meeting Jing Yuan again, but not nervous enough to feel fully awake. There’s a swift knock at your door, and your mother enters the room. She wishes you well, fawning over your appearance, before ushering you out of your bedroom. You are promptly escorted to a starskiff, a rather elegant one at that, and towards the meeting place.
You fully expected to meet your old friend, and new fiance, in the center of the Xianzhou. When you stop by a secluded garden, you’re confused.
“Are… Are we supposed to be here? I thought I was to meet the general-”
The driver of the starskiff turns around, giving you a subtle nod.
“The general informed your parents to have you brought to this address, without an escort. I’m simply following orders, Ms. Y/N.”
Your eyes widen as you process this new information. You nod to the man, offering a simple thanks, and leave the starskiff. Usually, someone would be there to accompany you. A new air of independence washes over you, and you smile warmly. Jing Yuan used to always say that he wanted alone time, away from rules and formalities. Is he still the same?...
You pull yourself out of your daydreaming, looking for a direction to follow. As you gaze at the beautiful garden, a certain flower catches your eye. Did Jing Yuan remember your favorite kind? You notice that there’s a trail of them, so you follow them. You’re soon met by the gentle smell of tea. There’s a gazebo hidden away among vines. The flowers are unmistakably leading towards it. Your breathing is shaky as you approach the small hideaway. Before you reach it, though, a tall man steps out to greet you. He towers over you, looking over you. You would normally be nervous about such scrutiny, but there’s a kind interest in his gaze. A smile tugs at his lips before he meets your eyes. His fluffy hair covers one of his eyes, but you’re not sure if you could handle both of his golden orbs piercing through you. You’re speechless as he walks toward you slowly. He holds himself with an aura of authority and mystery. You can’t help but stare at the gorgeous man. For a moment, it seems as though Jing Yuan isn’t standing before you. Those thoughts instantly turn to dust when he smiles at you, that same cat-like smirk you remember from your childhood. You smile back at him, beaming. The two of you don’t share any words yet. This simple moment of closeness communicates more than mere words ever could.
Jing Yuan steps closer to you… close enough for you to smell his cologne. He holds out his hand, one outstretched towards you and the other resting behind his back. You gently lay your hand in his. He looks at your hands together, gently rubbing his thumb over your knuckles. He brings your hand to his lips, gently kissing each knuckle as he looks into your eyes. You blush slightly, smiling.  “I’ve missed you… my dearest Y/N…”

𝒐𝒉, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒂𝒘𝒏 𝒘𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒑 𝒘𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂 𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒆
Tumblr media
pairing: vampire!acheron x gn!reader
genre(s): au (unspecified), light angst, eventual fluff, hints of hurt/comfort, strangers to friends to lovers
word count: 3.4k
warnings: written before acheron's release and v2.1, blood, mild descriptions of violence, slight nsfw (it's just during the bite scene and is nothing too intense)
notes: I couldn't get this idea out of my mind, so I hope you enjoy it! I decided to write this as a chronicle almost, of spontaneous meetings before a more conclusory end. I would be up for a part 2 eventually if you'd like to see it! I should also note that because only her trailers have been released, and this is an au, some elements of her character may be missing or not fully expanded upon, but I hope that doesn't interrupt your reading! :)
Read it on ao3!
~~~
Water trickled down from the murky sky, leaving shadow-wrapped puddles on the stone street. The step of a steady heel interrupted one’s stagnance as a figure emerged unshrouded from the alleyway. Another walked to her right, clothes beginning to soak from the rain. Blood trailed behind them, tainting the clear water with flowing scarlet.
“Why did you follow me?” they queried, pausing to lean against a nearby lamp post.
A violet gaze cast in their direction, yet the woman did not speak. She simply watched her momentary companion wince at the persistent ache of a flesh wound. Her fists tightened at the sight – the innate response to a long-held desire. A rising heartbeat flickered in her ears as she observed the form before her. A quirked brow, torn and stained cloth, a slight shiver from the chilled rain.
Striding forward, she was soon halted by their hand.
“Please, answer me.”
Instead, she took that cold limb in hers and brought it over her head, resting it on her left shoulder. She placed her other arm around their waist, and guided them from the lamp post with careful ease.
Calmly, they walked together.
The storm began to intensify as the wind picked up, flurrying droplets against the pair while lightning crackled across the sky.
“To fulfill my duties.” she spoke, strong and smooth.
“Pardon?”
“Why I followed you.”
“Oh…”
“Those beasts have been permeating the city. I seek to remove them. One had been following you to your destination, and I became involved as early as I could. I apologize for your injury. Had I been sooner it could have been avoided.”
“As long as I remain alive, I will consider you a savior."
She hummed, a calm and thoughtful sound in time with the rolling thunder.
"What constitutes a savior to you?"
A thin burst of light painted the dark sky lavender, casting the surrounding buildings in a haze of purple rain.
“A person who protects others, whether doing so is simple or difficult, and will see their work through no matter the cost.”
“I see… Rest your eyes, we will be at an infirmary soon.”
She felt their head fall on her shoulder, hair tickling against her neck. Their breathing had not yet evened out, but their heart rate had begun steadying.
There was a doctor at the end of the block, seeing patients out of his office and an emergency tent that had been placed on the empty lot next door. This would be the seventh time in three days that she would bring a new victim of the ongoing crisis.
She knocked on his door before being greeted by a disheveled man. He quickly understood the situation and turned back into his practice to grab supplies while she lay them down on one of the beds. A hand grasped hers tightly as she began leaving, walking toward the door.
“Wait…”
Their quiet voice reached her ears and beckoned her back to the bedside.
“Thank you, drifting savior.”
“Acheron.”
A small smile grew on their face. “Thank you, Acheron.”
“There’s no need, but… you are welcome nonetheless.”
“Will you stay here?”
“I’m afraid I’m needed elsewhere, but you will see me somewhere in the future.”
“Then I wish you luck and safety in your endeavors, until we meet again.”
The weekend market still bustled despite the city’s circumstances. Shoppers in a variety of outfits and colors paced up and down the streets, carding through wares, food, and clothes. A basket rested in the crook of your left elbow as you approached a fruit stand. Greeting the shopkeeper, you asked for a few peaches before perusing through the lemons.
You squeezed each one gently, hoping to find one filled with enough juice to add to a marmalade. When two were to your liking, you exchanged payment with the shopkeep and received your produce bag of white peaches, placing all of your main ingredients into your basket.
Bidding farewell, a flash of familiar violet caught your eye amongst the crowd.
You weaved through the people quickly, hoping to catch up to Acheron. A throb began developing in your side, but you did your best to ignore the increasing pain. Finally, you had the opportunity to meet her again, and in a much less dire setting this time. You watched as she strode with an aloof confidence, the crowd slowly moving out of her way.
When you reached the end of the sidewalk, you had the chance to reach out and tap her shoulder. She turned abruptly and faced you, however, before you could make contact.
“How did you know I was coming?”
“I could hear your footsteps approaching.”
You questioned how with the amount of activity there was. Deciding to ponder it later, you reached into your basket.
“Would you like a peach?”
She looked hesitant for a moment, before lightly shaking her head. “I have already eaten.”
“Alright.”
"How is your injury?"
Her question brought your attention back to the dull ache in your left abdomen.
“It is much better, though it will still become irritated from a lot of activity."
“Let us sit down, then. Hand me your basket.”
“Oh, thank you.”
The cool metal of a nearby bench slowly warmed under the heat of your palms. You sat in silence with Acheron, who was leaning against the back of the bench with one leg crossed over the other. It was not uncomfortable – far from it in fact. You felt safe around her, and resting became much easier.
You crossed paths next at a gently lighted bar.
She quietly slid onto the stool beside you, a sharp gaze watching your movements. After taking a sip of your cocktail, you met her eyes.
“Would you like to dance?”
“Of course.”
Rising first, she took your right hand in hers and brought you out to the sparkling dance floor. In a swift motion, you were spun into her arms. Deft fingers grasped your hips, turning you around to face her. She brought your arm up over her shoulder, stepping backwards for four beats before bringing her hand to rest delicately at your nape. Shifting your hand to replicate the same, you placed your other hand at her left elbow, and began shifting rapidly from side to side with each step toward her you took. You remove yourself from her, running your hand down her arm and casting her away in a spin. When she returns, she steps at your right foot, sending it back in a kick before it arrives up at her hip. Her hand cups the underside of your knee as yours sit at the back of her neck. She elegantly drags you backward before letting your foot fall to the floor. After, she sets her left hand on your shoulder, walking around you before stepping away, and spinning back into your hands. You dip her and catch her eyes for a moment, watching a flame stoke behind them.
When you bring her back up, a pair of your hands remain connected until you’re within arms distance of each other. You walk in a circle like this – watching her predatory gaze. It’s not an uncomfortable sensation to be underneath, if anything it makes you want to match her pace more. You come back into her arms, in the same position you started in. Your back is to her front, breathing heavily as her fingers ghost over the site of your injury. Only now do you note it’s stinging tenderness, but it slowly begins to dissipate as she rubs over it. You glide together like this over the floor before she sharply turns you out in the hold of her hand. The scene becomes muddled, but a part of you feels an odd joy at the usually uneasy sensation. When you’re finished, she brings you back to her. Your fingers land awkwardly at her sternum and your dance is complete.
As you catch your breath, you begin to notice the lack of a second heartbeat thrumming beneath your fingers.
Yet, that couldn’t be, right? You were mellowing from the performance, yes, but you still would be able to tell if there was a beat outside of your fingertips. When you caught Acheron’s eyes, you could see what seemed like a cloud of thoughtful storm behind them. Without another word, she left.
You remained on the floor, wondering just what lies underneath her violet gaze.
A soft wind blew against your cheeks as you rested underneath a large willow tree. The sky glowed in beautiful warm shades, followed by a vibrant indigo. Flipping a page of your book, you attempted to block out the sounds of the park. Children ran and played together as some walked their dogs. A few people stopped at a stand for snacks while talking or heading home.
A shadow and a wisp of white clothing appeared before you, the color of coming evening blending into her hair.
You closed your book and gave her a small smile. “How have you been?”
She looked in your eyes pensively, before reaching out her hand. “Would you like to go for a walk with me?”
“I don’t see why not.” you replied, taking her hand and standing up.
Together you strolled down the paver path, watching as the street lights turned on. The tip of your shoe caught on one of the uneven layers, causing you to stumble forward. Luckily, Acheron caught you carefully, bringing you to a standing position and helping you regain balance again. You lightly laughed off your blunder, doing your best to calm down again after the momentary scare.
As the moon rose higher in the sky, you felt a tired relaxation start to well within you. When you looked to your left, you realized the opposite could be said for your companion. She seemed alert, and ready for combat if the need arose. Her head nudged to the right, signaling for you to turn there, no doubt so you could go deeper toward the forest and avoid others.
“I apologize for what I must do. Please find somewhere safe until I am finished.”
“It is alright.” you responded, deviating to find a temporary shelter from whatever beast was trailing you.
A grotesque, dripping, jet black creature with multiple ice blue eyes came from seemingly nowhere, with a small group of winged beasts accompanying it. You rushed underneath a bench across the small courtyard space, doing your best to breathe silently but your book fell loudly to the ground. Your eyes met the cold ones of the monster, but a flash of purple soon bloomed as horrible screeches filled the air. A shadow expanded over the scene not long after, removing Acheron and the wretched animals from your field of view.
Although they seemed to be gone, you didn’t dare move.
She emerged not long after, a lovely shade of red disappearing from her arms – yet her hair remained white. Another row of creatures came from the forest, and she fought each one effortlessly with a strength and capability that most would not have. Although, the closer you looked and the more little hordes that came, you could feel a sense of exhaustion coming from her. There were a few hits that she couldn’t dodge in time, and one that looked especially deep from where you hid.
As she dealt a final blow, her breath became heavy. She did her best to walk to you with a stoic air. You quickly left your cover, jogging to meet her where she was and watching as she stumbled forward. Surprised, you caught her in your arms, trying to keep her upright.
“Thank you for the concern, Bertha, but there is truly nothing to worry about. Care for a jar of marmalade before you go?”
“Oh, that would be excellent! Thank you very much.”
You walked over to the kitchen counter, grabbing one jar of the peach spread you made two days prior. Returning to the entryway, you handed it to your neighbor with a smile. After exchanging goodbyes, you shut the door and made your way back to the kitchen to fetch a bowl of clean water.
The door to where Acheron was resting sat half-closed, a sign that she had probably begun leaving before resigning to sit back on the bed. With a gentle kick, it opened all the way and revealed your contemplative… friend, now. After many bedridden chats over the last week, you felt closer than before, even if a chilled distance may still remain.
“How are you this morning?” you questioned, placing the bowl on the bedside table and grabbing a fresh cloth from its drawer.
“Better. There is still a persistent fatigue, however.”
You hummed, “I have noticed you sleeping more. I assume it is not helping, then?”
“You would be correct. I am not sure how much longer I want to stay in this bed.”
“Is it not comfortable?” you teased, walking to her side to remove the bandage on her arm.
“No.” she replied with a hint of a smirk.
“Well then, you’ll just have to start moving to other areas of the house.”
“You want me to follow you around all day?” she quipped.
“Maybe. I wouldn’t be entirely averse to having you with me more often. Our chance visits are beginning to be too little for me, I’m afraid.”
“I guess I will have to fix that. Where would you like me to be?”
You felt a light heat grow in your cheeks, and did your best to keep a straight face as you softly rubbed the wet cloth over her cuts.
“Right beside me.” you whispered.
She hummed, looking almost regretful.
After you finished, you offered her a hand. She took it, and calmly you helped her get to a chair in the small dining area off of the kitchen. Her speed and strength had definitely improved since the first day she woke up. Faint and injured, she had tried to rise and leave, but you stopped her. She needed to rest and be given care for a while. Within the minute, she had already fallen back asleep, and you began tending to her stressed wounds once more.
Her hair has yet to fade from a gleaming white.
Putting a slice of bread in the toaster, you didn’t bother asking Acheron if she would like a piece. In all of the time that you have known her, she has never eaten or drank anything.
“Do you want to ask me something?” she queried, head tilting slightly in your direction.
She always had such attentive hearing – too honed almost. Impressive strength and stamina, something that was almost inhuman. She had no heartbeat that you could sense, either. From all of the tales that you have heard in your life, you could only find one conclusion.
“Actually, I do.” Taking a seat across from her, you folded your hands over the table. “Are you a vampire, Acheron?”
A beat of silence crossed the room before she replied, “How adept of you.”
The toaster popped, and you paused a moment before rising to check it. Placing it on a plate, you opened the butter dish and retrieved a knife before spreading it over your toast.
“You need blood, then, correct? In order to soothe your fatigue.”
“Yes.” she returned simply.
Brushing your fingers on a nearby towel, you slowly strode to her side of the table.
“Use me.”
It was a bold request, and one that she could very possibly turn down. Still, you were going to see her care through to the end. Even besides that, you were starting to consider her a friend.
She seemed stunned, although her face could never communicate the extent of which. As if betraying her features, her hands started traveling around your waist, bringing you slowly onto her lap.
“Are you certain?”
“Of course.”
With no hesitation or restraint, she licked up the right side of your neck, bringing her left hand up to tug at your hair and angle your head over. Your fingers curled into the front of her shirt, one that she had borrowed from you. The tip of her tongue crossed the cusp of your ear, making your grip tighten. Her thumb started rubbing your scalp as she bit down. It burned initially, but within an instant became truly pleasurable. Her lips tightened around her bite as she sucked and licked the area, drawing blood out and leaving you in a daze. One hand remained tightened around her shirt while the other drifted to her hair, holding her closer. Your breath echoed in her ear, one that was likely catching the soft whimpers that left you, only spurring her on more.
Your body moved against her, seeking any more of her you could get. A small nick from one of her teeth made you whine as you repeated the same motion. She did it again. Her other hand fell from your waist to your hip, sliding underneath your shirt and rubbing your lower back. You relaxed into her, sliding your hand further down her body, shifting closer to her as that hand moved to her stomach, stroking underneath the borrowed fabric.
You felt her begin to pull away below your left hand, and so you brought it out of her hair and down her cheek. The white started leaving her hair, but your gaze remained only on her eyes – and the remnants of blood on her lips. In a swift motion, you licked her bottom lip, tasting what she so craved. Before you could shift backward, she tightened her grip in your hair and kissed you with the same passion you danced with weeks ago. She leaned back and you cupped her cheek, bringing your other hand up to her bare waist. Tracing over the cool skin, you remained on her for a small minute before finally, she parted from you.
A knock hit your door right before you were set to leave for the day.
When you opened it, none other than Acheron greeted you.
“I remember you dropped this during my battle, so I came to return it.” she stated, handing over your leather-wrapped book.
“Thank you.” you replied, turning away to leave it on the table by the door. When you looked back, she had something else prepared.
“I also wanted to bring you this gift.”
You accepted a white box with purple and red ribbon. A letter rested underneath the bow, and you saved it for last. After undoing the neat package, you opened it to find a well-forged dagger.
“I wanted to give you something to start with, so that if the time comes and I am not there, you will have a weapon.”
It was a beautiful present. A winding snake wrapped around the hilt, its head resting on the tip. It had a sharp shine to it, and weighed light under your hands. It was held in white leather, and displayed a dark metal when you removed it. You would be sure to cherish it.
Exchanging the blade for the letter on the table, you slid a letter opener under the seal and lifted out the paper. While it was not very long, it seemed incredibly heartfelt.
I must start this letter by telling you how much I appreciate all that you have done for me. I am not accustomed to such care, much less the tenderness that you showed me. It is an… odd feeling. But one that I am not very against. Though I cannot say that I can stop my drifting across the country, I can say that I will always return here, to you. I want to stay for the next few months, and teach you some of what I know. I hope you will consider my offer, and me.
Sincerely yours,
Acheron
Wordlessly, you set the letter down and crossed the threshold, placing a kiss on her cheek and wrapping her in a hug. She hesitated at first, but soon crossed her own over your back.
In a whisper, she posed a question. “Will you accept?”
“Of course!” you returned quietly.
“Great. We will begin tomorrow.”
A complementing smile grew on her face, one that showcased a great amount of joy that you had never seen from her before. It was lovely, and you were sure that the next few months with her would feel the same.
The sky is dark.
Even during daytime, the sky is dark, almost as if it were evening. A perpetual twilight. It’s a sight that is very much unnatural, yet there’s very little that is natural about the world nowadays. Not since the day when a horde of cursed spirits suddenly manifested in the heart of New Shinjuku with no warning whatsoever, promptly plunging the freshly-rebuilt city into chaos. And almost as if it had been a signal of sorts, similar incidents had swiftly spread across the globe in the days that followed.
Armageddon, some called it. The End of the World. As the catastrophe progressed, the environment itself changed as well in reflection of the disaster ravaging the now-hostile, dangerous world.
“So this is where you’re hiding, huh?”
Shiki turns around and cranes her head to look upwards. “… Satoru-niichan?”
Her cousin pats her on the head, and plops down on the stone ledge next to her with a gusty sigh. “Needed a break?”
Shiki doesn’t respond to that, instead drawing her legs closer to herself and burying her face into her knees. She receives another headpat from her cousin.
“I get it,” he says. “It’s a lot. Sorcerers aren’t really supposed to do much aside from just killing cursed spirits, but look at us now –shining paragons and defenders of the last, greatest bastions of humanity. What a joke, right? Like, what do I know about running cities or maintaining infrastructure or resource allocation?”
“People are grasping at straws,” Shiki says quietly. Between the two of them… it’s definitely Satoru-niichan who bears the heavier burden. But even so, despite all the responsibilities that he’s laden with, he still does his best to look out for her in moments like these.
The knowledge lights a spark of warmth inside her chest.
“Yeah, they most definitely are,” Satoru-niichan sighs. “And sorcerers happen to look like they have the longest straws, no thanks to the entire mess back in ‘18.”
“… Geto-san’s Cursed Spirit Manipulation would’ve been nice to have right now,” Shiki props up her chin with a hand. Considering that the entire world was overrun with cursed spirits, his cursed technique would’ve been an excellent counter.
He might even be the new ‘Strongest.’
… Although, if Geto-san were still alive, he probably would’ve set off to make his own stronghold, one that strictly, specifically only protected sorcerers.
Shiki sighs.
“Oh, and you know what else would be nice to have? A good bowl of cream anmitsu.”
The girl blinks in surprise at the sudden non-sequitur, and gives her cousin a side-eye.
“What? I thought we were indulging in a bout of wishful thinking here,” the young man sticks his tongue out at her. Food is growing scarce; most fruits are dried or preserved –and that’s to say nothing of how ice cream and such frozen desserts of the like are a luxury rarely seen anymore. Sugar is rationed and restricted, as is salt. “Although I’d take konpeito, too.”
Konpeito would definitely be easier to obtain than something outrageous like cream anmitsu, especially the specific type that Satoru-niichan had once been so fond of.
“Hmm… I think I’ll try to get my hands on some konpeito once we get back to the Tokyo base,” Satoru-niichan decides. Then, with a teasing grin directed towards her, “I might even share some with you if you ask me nicely!”
Shiki rolls her eyes, “I don’t like sweets.”
“You don’t like sweets? Still?” Her cousin shakes his head, “Ehh… you’re really missing out, cute little cousin of mine.”
“Pass.”
“See?! I think you could definitely use a bit of sweetness to lighten up that doom and gloom,” Satoru-niichan informs her, and stretches. “… Man, there’s nothing like an apocalypse to make you realize that so many good foods out there can disappear forever just like that. Once this is all over and everything is on the proper road to recovery, I think I’ll go on a world tour and try out allll the local delicacies I can find.”
“… You mean all the local sweets?” Shiki says dryly.
“Ha! Are you sassing me?” Satoru-niichan sits up straight and laughs, delighted. “See if I bring you along for my future gourmet adventures, then!”
Shiki dips her head and bites back a small smile.
…
The sky is still dark and dreary. But somehow, by the time that Shiki returns to the encampment with her cousin, things still seem to be a bit brighter than they previously were before.
Little blunder
College AU
Tw: SFW, can be read as gender neutral tho written with a fem reader in mind, fluff.
Pairing: Dan Heng x Reader.
Tumblr media
--------------------------------------------------
You pull up in front of the apartment complex and slowly get off your bike. You take out your phone, swipe past the 99+ notifications from every group chat you're in and go straight to Dan Heng's contact.
The last messages there were "Hey, I think I have a crush on someone and need advice" and his reply, "wanna talk about it after tutoring tomorrow?"
You type "Here", then quickly make your way up the stairs. With any luck, he's just woken up -today was his day off- and still hasn't seen any messages about this morning's... fiasco.
You reach his apartment door just as he unlocks it, probably after he heard you approach, and give him a quick greeting, closing the door behind you as you enter.
"So," he starts, "should we focus on History or Chinese literature today?" He asks, still under the impression you're here for your regular tuesday afternoon tutoring sessions. Then... He doesn't know yet. Ok, that's good.
"Actually..." You start slowly, gathering your courage to just be done with it. Come on, I can do this! You think, attempting to pump yourself up. "I'm here to borrow something" You lie instead... Hm. Maaaaybe I can't do this ...
"Of course you are," An eye roll. "what do you need this time? A dictionary? A calculator? Or am I a living dictionary, calculator, and thesaurus all in one?" Had things been normal you would've probably laughed.
"Well you see..." You glance around his apartment nervously, and say the first thing that comes to mind. "I kinda need your dish washer?" You try, and proceed to mentally facepalm. Really?! His dishwasher?!
He narrows his eyes in clear confusion. "You need... my dish washer?" He repeats. "What do you want a dish washer for? You don't even cook?" He sighs.
"If you're planning on borrowing stuff that's mine, then just ask. No need to make stupid excuses like needing my dish washer, of all things. I am your friend, you know that, right?"
"Ahahaha the school population might disagree at the moment." You reply nervously.
"..." He gives you another confused look. "What's that supposed to mean?"
You take a deep breath. "Soooo you know how I've been volunteering to help out the broadcasting club? With equipment maintenance and such?"
He nodded, though now he just looks more confused.
"Right um, about a month ago, I found a club member crying alone after a bad breakup... To comfort him I told him he was a great guy, that anybody would be lucky to-"
"Didn't you already tell me all that?" He interrupted quickly, probably sensing you were still stalling.
"Right, right, just making sure you remember." You answer smoothly enough.
"So anyways, that guy may or may not have asked me out for the school dance?" You pause, gauging his reaction, but he turned his usual pokerface back on, and it gives away nothing.
"Uh? Congratulations?" Realizing he won't say anything more, you move on for now. "No, no. I didn't agree or anything," you say quickly. "Instead I uh, may have rejected him by saying I have a boyfriend, and when he insisted I was lying, I maaaaayyyyyy havesaiditwasyou?" You rush through the last part as your nerves get the best of you.
"..." There's silence in the room as Dan Heng stares at you, processing what you'd just said. He swallows and takes a deep breath. "You. Did. What?" His words are measured.
"I panicked? I'm sorry!"
"Panic led you to name-drop me as your non-existent boyfriend?" He asks with a hint of irritation.
"Well that's because I was thinking about you-" You say before you could think better of it, and by the time your hand slaps your mouth shut it was already too late.
A small smile spreads across his face. The first unguarded reaction you'd seen him make since the beginning of this conversation. "Really?" He asks. "Did you... did I happen to cross your mind as you rejected that person?" He looks at you, his eyes narrowed in amusement.
You blush. HARD. "Well- I- I mean! Yes! of course because-" You think of a quick lie "-because I needed to return your..." You slide your hand into your pocket, pull out the first thing you find, a chewing gum packet he'd given you the day before and say "The- This...?" You end Lamely.
He shakes his head, smiling. "Nice try," he says, "but there's something else on your mind. You're bad at lying." He puts his hands on his waist and smirks.
"Now, tell me the truth. Why did you name me?"
You sigh, utterly defeated... As expected of Dan Heng "Well, I guess I wanted to ask you out to the school dance? I- I've been meaning to finally tell you today but then that guy came out of nowhere and asked me to go with him and I just- welp." You shrug.
He raises a brow "Wait... am I... your crush?" He asks, not believing the question. "It's me, isn't it? Huh." He tilts his head, a bit confused and amused.
"But... why? Why would you be into me? I'm literally the definition of a nerd," he says while glancing over to his desk, cluttered with books and his gaming build.
You jump at the opportunity to tease him "What's this Dan Heng? Are you fishing for compliments?" You ask slyly, hoping to make him blush so it wouldn't be just you.
His ears immediately turn red. "No, I'm serious," he says, "Why me?" He looks at you with a puzzled look, then says, "I mean, I'm flattered, but I don't get it. Out of all the boys in class, why me? Not that I'm complaining, mind you," he chuckles.
A small win for me! He went blushy blushy! You giggle to yourself. "Well what's there not to like? You're always there for me, be it calling me first thing in the morning to make sure I'm awake for classes or tutoring me so I understand the material, you even cook extra portions of food for me because I am not um... adept in the kitchen. Like how thoughtful is that? Honestly how could I possibly not fall for you?" By now you've completely run out of breath.
Dan Heng's cheeks are flushed pink. I can die happy now "Y-You... you're actually serious?" He asks, feeling a wave of relief and joy wash over him. "Because I... I feel the same about you. You're so... you're the sweetest, kindest, most considerate person I've ever met, (Y/N). You're always helping people, even in things completely unrelated to your own life... I mean, broadcasting equipment maintenance? You had to learn a completely new skill just to help them with that."
He took a deep breath, seemingly steadying himself, then continued.
"And... I just have this feeling whenever I'm with you, my heartbeat quickens and my stomach turns in a flutter. Do you... do you feel the same?" This was probably the most honest and vulnerable he's ever been with you.
You smile brightly. "Yes! And I'm ecstatic you do too!!!"
He smiles as well and nods. "When's the dance, again?" He asks. "And how should we tell our friends that we're dating, now that I've said yes to your... confession?"
"If it even is called a confession?" He mumbles in amusement.
"Ah yeah about that..." You smile sheepishly, debating how to break this one to him.
"What... what is it, (Y/N)?" He tilts his head in curiosity. "Tell me. I don't bite," he teases.
"Sooo, remember how this whole thing started in the broadcasting room? Remember how March uhhh... Sometimes forgets the mic open?"
Dan Heng's eyes widen. "No way."
"Hahah... Yeahhhh." You fish your phone out of your back pack, unlock it and pick a random group chat. Sure enough, the chosen conversation topic is still the "Broadcasted failure of a confession LMAO!!" You hand him your phone, let him scroll through the messages, knowing he probably doesn't bother to even join most of these group chats.
"Huh," he starts, "aren't they being a bit... Harsh on this gu- wait." His eyes narrowed. "What does Jing Yuan mean by 'he was being a total creep??'" he asks alarmed, now looking at you.
"Ehh that might be an exaggeration? He probably means how the guy wouldn't take no for an answer, it's kinda why I had to lie in the first place, I mean I was being considerate at first but he really wouldn't let up... Huh now that I think about it, maybe Jing Yuan's right. "
Dan Heng didn't seem to like that one bit.
"You know what? I'm actually fine with the broadcast thing," He replied coolly. "If more people knew about my feelings for you, then that's great. As long as they know you're dating me now."
"So. Are you going to be my date for the dance?" He asks.
You grin. "I'd be honored to!"
"Great." Dan Heng smiles and reaches out to hug you. "So then... that means we're officially a couple?" He grins slyly. "And does that mean you'll call me honey now?" Oh he's trying to make you blush.
You smile back, every bit as mischievous "I was actually thinking of calling you: Darling, love of my life, light of my days, and saviour of my grades! But sure whatever you like." You say innocently. He laughs.
"I think I like that last one," he says, reaching out to brush a stray hair away from your face. "But I want you to call me Dan Heng, alright? If I ever heard someone refer to me as "Darling" or "Love", I'd probably turn into a ripe strawberry." He seems to consider something for a moment then says: "And when we see each other at the dance, will I be able to give you a kiss?" He asks cheekily.
"...!" When they go bold I go BOLDER! " You can kiss me right now." You say, summoning every last bit of confidence within you.
He leans in and gently presses his lips onto yours, holding it for a moment before breaking apart. "Will that suffice?" he asks with a grin.
"Now, come on. We better hurry up. All our friends are probably waiting for us at the cafe," he says and offers to take your hand.
"They're gonna be thrilled. Imagine how happy March will be, learning her little blunder for once caused something great." he adds with a bright smile.
AU's and Fandoms
⊱ ────── {⋆❉⋆} ────── ⊰
1) Genshin Consort AU
Synopsis: Reader is a royal in the imperial family. The reader will eventually become the empress. Many of the males that are characters in Genshin Impact will be either consorts or concubines.
Information: It is not exactly a open-ended reader who doesn't have any pre-determined qualities. However, I try to refrain from mentioning skin color, hair, or any features. Only exception is the eyes of the reader which are a blood red due to the background. Also the reader is able to alter their body type by means of magic so I describe the reader as having both male and female sex organs.
The reader's personality has some distinct qualities. I try not to set them in stone but due to the history and the experiences of the reader that comes from my AU, there are certain personality quirks.
Fandoms: Genshin Impact
⊱ ────── {⋆❉⋆} ────── ⊰
2) Dom/Sub AU
Synopsis: During puberty individuals are determined to have a secondary gender. There are Doms, Subs, and Neutral. Both Dom's and Subs take up about 10% of the population. The remaining 80% are neutrals/switches. Genders like female and male do not determine the secondary gender. Set in modern universe or canon universe. Only Dom!reader accepted. Characters can be any gender.
Fandoms: Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Vanitas No Carte, Demon slayer.
Commands: These are a vital part in any relationship between a Sub and a Dom. The Dom will give out commands that can range from simple, sexual, or anything else the two agree on beforehand. The sub will then follow the commands.
Relationships: Not every pairing has to be romantic in nature. As long as everyone who is involved gives their consent, it can be primarily a sexual relationship or just a physical relationship in order to fulfill their instincts that come with their secondary gender.
Contracts: These are for more serious relationships. Again, it does not have to be romantic but the Dom and the Sub are more closely bound to each other. There is usually an actual paper document that is signed for more professional Dom/Sub relationships but more intimate one do not always have a more formal contract. Once a contract is agreed on, it is much more important to remain vigilant in terms of giving out commands, spending time together, giving/getting aftercare, etc. If they fall behind on their relationship and what they agreed on, it can result in sickness, dissociations, disorientation, sub or dom drop, etc.
Collars: Should be the most important and intimate endeavor when it comes to a Sub and Dom. A Dom collaring the sub binds them together. The collars can be a piece of jewelry or an actual collar. However, if both agree, dom's can be a given a 'collar' as well.
CYCRANE KILLER - A YANQING SERIAL KILLER AU
TW/CW FOR MURDER, VIOLENCE, DISMEMBERMENT, GENERAL MENTAL INSTABILITY, MENTIONS OF ABUSE
AU INFO ↓
after the disastrous battle at dragonprayer terrace, yanqing is left disheartened, confused, and alone. he was just defeated by 2 criminals, and the one person he trusted with his whole being left him there with no explanation.
he gets healed at the alchemy commission, and returns home. jing yuan eventually recovers, and... everything returns to some sense of normalcy. no 'i'm sorry', no 'are you okay?', no nothing. he receives assignments as usual, and goes through with them with ease.
during an assignment in cloudford, he encounters a man who was on the run and had a warrant out for his arrest for domestic abuse. yanqing pursued the man until he accidentally cornered him with some particularly violent mara-struck, and was killed before he could stop them.
that night, he couldn't stop thinking about the man. he had let a civilian die. but... that man was a terrible person. he had a family that loved him, and he hurt them in return. yanqing felt an unexplainable burst of 'satisfaction' or even 'happiness'. that man would never hurt anybody again.
a terrible idea appeared in his head. what if he purposely killed people like those?
it's extremely illegal and goes against his duty as a cloud knight, but they would deserve it and he's just so, so frustrated. so, he looks into a couple cases and finds one he takes interest in. if he wants to go through with this, he can't use yanzhuo or his ice swords; it would make his identity too obvious. he grabs a blade he's been itching to test out, dons a cloak and leaves during the night.
the break-in and murder is easy enough. most people on the luofu stand no chance against him. adrenaline is rushing through his veins, and now there's a body on the floor and his dagger is covered in blood.
the cleanup is simple; he has the knowledge and resources available to make it look as if his target had just vanished during the night. he dismembers and disposes of the body and returns home. he had just killed another civilian... but they were a terrible person— no, they're not even a person. they're just vermin, unworthy of the title of 'human' and waiting to be eliminated. he feels static in his head.
in the following weeks, he does his best to avoid searching up information about his target. yanqing listens in to gossip instead, and gathers that they had been reported missing but no traces were found. he had gotten away with murder.
and he was going to do it again.
the next few nights, he claims more lives; lives of those unworthy of them. after the murders, the static in his head clears, but comes back later. they disappear during the night without a trace.
while disposing of a body, yanqing encounters a partially broken down cycrane with sentience, like his swords. he fixes it up, and it says it doesn't want to 'return to a mundane life of endless deliveries', so he takes it home and hides it. after a bit of searching, he gives it a name: rosebane.
the cases are starting to catch the attention of the higher-ups. the public now knows about the 'mysterious disappearances', and rumors start spreading like wildfire. some claim it's a monster, other say it's a stalker, and some are claiming that it's a whole group of people. nobody suspects him a bit. tensions are high.
yanqing doesn't want the public to worry too much. rumors of a monster could put the cloud knights on high alert. if he let any witnesses see him, they would know it was a human. and if he brings rosebane, they would know it's the same person, and not a group of people. rosebane wouldn't reveal anything about his real identity, and would be particularly useful for tracking down targets. a monster would be extremely concerning, but a person would be... hopefully less concerning. and with a cycrane, it would lead the investigators away from him.
during his next murder, he chooses a time where there would be a witness, and commits the crime, leaving the body. word gets out, and news of the 'cycrane killer' is everywhere. yanqing masks his nervousness as worry for jing yuan, but he doesn't fully buy it.
he's not crazy, he's not insane at all. he doesn't kill for the adrenaline rush, or to clear the static in his head, or for whatever other reason.
he's just... doing the luofu a favor.
☆⋆⋅───────
RELATIONSHIPS
YANQING -> ROSEBANE
friendly. they are extremely close, but can't talk much since yanqing shouldn't bring them out during the day. they're partners in crime, bound to their secret. he finds their sentience interesting.
YANQING -> JING YUAN
tense. yanqing partly blames jing yuan for his... new hobby. he still cares and would never hurt him on purpose, but he's extremely frustrated and confused. he mainly wants an explanation but feels as if he has no right to ask for one. yanqing also has to tread lightly around jing yuan to avoid him figuring out about his murders.
YANQING -> FU XUAN
cautious. if fu xuan suspects him of anything, she could easily rat him out with the matrix of prescience. he's been keeping his distance.
JING YUAN -> YANQING
worry. jing yuan knows yanqing's upset and has been acting strangely ever since he recovered. he also knows that his retainer is hiding something, but doesn't know what.
