it’s very hard to see but jyushi’s surrounded by four paintings of the four seasons by the absolute legend alphonse mucha, specifically the 1897 version

all of mucha’s four seasons sets were very popular, and were said to have breathed fresh air into the theme of personifying the seasons. i wish i could remember where i read it but i do remember reading jyushi’s music/look is part of the neo vkei wave, so choosing this particular set of paintings from mucha might be a nod to that

as for alphonse mucha himself!!! on top of being a prolific artist, he was an activist for the foundation of the czechoslovakia, which merged the countries czech and slovak after they declared their independence from the austria-hungary empire

it’s pretty interesting to see jyushi is once again being depicted as someone whose helped bring a nation together 👀

What are your thoughts on purple kiss memeM comeback? I personally liked it though memeM was a grower but it won me over with the FANTASTIC vocals plus the stages and seeing their energy is just great. Also pretty psycho is just THAT song it's so good. I love it and the choreo so much. I wish the memeM mv was more along the vibe of their story clips but oh well I'm still satisfied

my only complaint with it is that it didn't have a clear concept! the song is great and the performance is fine, but it was too typical 'girl crush'. i think it maybe might have been an attempt to prove that the girls could do a more on-trend concept and song, but it's super indicative that they've basically switched to only promoting pretty psycho. aside from the fact that it's probably their best song in their entire discog (and i do not say that lightly) it has a pretty clear concept and a lot of quirky character and that's where purple kiss has made their biggest mark. i was also disappointed that memem didn't follow up very much on their story clips because the story clips were SO strong and really felt in line with their kind of tongue in cheek almost fantasy branding, but having memem as the culmination of that felt like it was almost a backing down? like obviously the mv is kinda weird still and there's some very cool setpieces (that last shot!!!!!) and i can tell what they're trying to do with it, but overall with the styling it's a little too disjointed. it feels like they had a really good idea but then didn't think all the connective pieces through with enough specific detail. i'm very certain that pretty psycho would have just as easily been able to fill the same 'memory' + witch concept and they could have used some of the setpieces from the mv; just adding a bit of stylistic retooling to match the story clips and it would have been sooooooooooooo good. obvs the girls killed it in performance and i like the song so yea i'm still happy with the cb, but ohhhhh what it could have been!!!

The REVIVEPAGES Demo opening is now available for everyone to watch! More info under the cut.

This is the opening to a demo for my game! I'm planning on getting the demo out by the end of this year. The current biggest hurdle for RevivePages will be porting the whole project to RPG Maker MV, but it will have to happen in order for me to do what I have planned for the demo.

As for when the full game will release? No idea! I'm planning on getting the demo out as a proof of concept and then moving to either GameMaker 2 or Godot, MAYBE unity if everything else sucks.

SOCIAL PATH ANALYSIS TIME!!!!

I'm always doing this when I want something to do that'll occupy my mind. There's a lot of it, and none of it may be accurate. Art exists for interpretation, though, right? So I'll see what I can offer. Be warned, my thoughts will be haphazard because it's past two in the morning and I have a headache.

Now let's start with the obvious. I think we've all clocked that Social Path is a play for the word Sociopath. Stray Kids do that a lot, right? Bend words to wrap around themselves because maybe they feel imprisoned by what the original word represents? Maybe they feel it is a label, and if they must carry one of those, they'd rather design it themselves.

The opening is "gave up my youth for my future"😭😭

An alien (foreigner) in the town.

All the hate, all the broken lines. All the anger and the resolve.

Oh my God, there are so many layers to this song😭🫠.

Their voices meld so well together. Not to mention the instrumentals, which sound genius, yes, but a bit light and excited too. The lyrics though—

It makes so much sense, at least from the perspective I'm looking at. Them being adrift, like comets, with the possibility of crashing or continuing to float.

Being lost in a sea of bodies, just giving up. Hands and words and chains reaching for them, people telling them to give up, trying to hold them down.

I don't know if it goes this deep, but felix has only one wing, the pain it must've taken to loose the other but still hold on to that one side. Did it get ripped out? Did he stumble and decide to "rise up stronger"?

And in the end, they stand as if they have won a battle, Bruised perhaps, but they've victorious. And a war still awaits.

A different line of thought, I'm thinking the part Lee Know is on his bed, a place that should be one of comfort and rest and privacy for him, and hands are frantically reaching for him despite how much he's curling into himself might have something to do with fans and their mega obsessions and lack of respect for their private lives.

Not to mention the same faceless people made bang chan feel choked, and he never did escape them in the video. But then there's a part where they stand and lift him up, till he's floating.

I don't know. There is so much hyper-symbolism in everything that I'm getting wrapped up in it, too.

If we begin breaking down the MV scene by scene them you will get to see the full picture and not fragments of the message they trying to pass on

The M/V fits the lyrics totally.

The scene where Han was chained??

Where the chains fear?

Was it doubt? Was it pain? Was it the endless dread of the future?

And the fact that he was chained alone, in a fortress where he saw nothing but himself. Was that a way of showing how he kept all the pain, the negative emotions locked away inside of him, how he projected it onto himself?

Life isn't easy, neither is any of this simple, and they showed it in rock and roll😌🫠 how amazing is that!!!!!!

When everyone ignored I.N? Why?

Others debuted but not BangChan....it was like he wasn't seen,he wasn't heard...in the midst of everyone,he stood alone with no one to hold

Then them pushing through all those throes of faceless people that signify not just people but every single hurdle they have had to overcome and come out stronger just to keep this dream alive.

I cannot even begin to unpack all this. Making them laugh while they feel empty? It echoes, it's loud. Having to appeal to a world that barely even wants them. And the line "meant to be my dream". I'm sure no one expected dreams to hurt this much, especially not people who were barely more than children, reaching for something they could never imagine having. Like I said, their life in a nutshell. They said, "It was supposed to be their dream," not something to expand their worries.

And I feel like that space simulation is a safe space, the chorus happens there, maybe its each other.

That scene was a lot. The m/v was so intense that at first glance, one would assume it was nothing but chaos, but isn't that what life looks like from the outside? There is so much to unpack about it and it's so easy to judge another.

There's more everyone but I feel I should save it for another day.

Before I stop though, I'll have to mention the theory I keep seeing from other people on tiktok and Instagram. They say each scene depicts a members fear, Here it goes:

Changbin: Nightmares.

Lee Know: Fear of Heights

Felix: Overthinking

Seungmin: Fear of small spaces I.e Claustrophobia

I.N: Fear of being ignored

Han: it think ita fear if being forgotten/ Anxiety.

Hyunjin: Fear of being alone.

Bang Chan: I think its him loosing his voice.

There's the whole Lisa aspect. Does she represent their dream? Is she a villainous character in the M/V? Am I just a crazy human? Yes.

i did a top 10 sidem songs tag that i saw going around on twitter~ cant believe we're finally in our tenth anniversary year!!

meet the world

this song is really significant to me for a lot of reasons. as a kaigai P, world tre@sure was a super important time in sidem history where the gap was really bridged between the japanese fans and the rest of us. 4th live tre@sure gate was a must-attend for me because of this and it was my first time attending a imas live locally ever! i'll never forget the feeling of the lights dimming and meet the world beginning to play with every seiyuu's voice together in a huge powerful harmony. it was the first time id ever heard my 4 tantous voices in real life without a screen and thousands of miles between us and it was one of the most important moments of my life. i knew in that moment i could never miss another live again no matter how hard it is and how many hurdles i have to jump over to get to japan for the events. every time i travel again for imas, i listen to meet the world on repeat and think about how my passion for the idols can 空を海を夜を越えて <3

2. reason

reason is THE sidem song. every time i listen to it, the memories from the anime and lives and games all flood back to me. i've been a P since 2011 and AS has always been my home, and the reason i got into sidem at all is because i love AS and i've always felt that sidem and AS are the most connected and spiritually similar branches of imas. i always felt this way, so when sideani was released and we heard the full version of reason for the first time and realized that it was a love song to all of imas and everything that came before sidem... wow. im still so grateful to this day. and not only that, but AS themselves performing reason at moiw last year.... 😭 ill never be the same....

3. platinum mask

platinum mask!!! PLATINUM MASK!!! beits long awaited growing signal song. the memories attached to this song are so incredible. being in tokyo when the platinum mask event was announced, getting to experience platinum mask in full for the first time by hearing it performed live by all of beit at yokoari in that same week, platinum mask's cd releasing the week of moiw, platinum mask having the honor of being performed at moiw, and platinum mask being the song we got to finally see animated by sublimation for beits 3d mv. this song has given beit so many opportunities and been used to promote beit in ways id never even dreamed of before as their producer. not to mention the beautiful grand, royal aesthetic is something ive been waiting for my tantous to get forever, along with the lyrics perfectly fitting beits themes of secrecy and gaining/losing power.... this is truly the perfect song in every way.

4. hyper believer

i have so much to say about this song its unreal but ill try and keep it condensed. hyper believer was part of the first cd in the huuugely important and long awaited 49 elements series. there were 5 years in between shikis first solo and second solo, and much like the rest of the songs in 49ele, the jump in quality and huge level up for the idol is super tangible. hyper believer is shikis love song to highxjoker, to his friends his family producer the rest of 315pro, to life itself. it's about being self aware that hes in the awkward, incomplete period of his teenage years but going through every day knowing its temporary and fleeting so enjoying it anyway. every lyric is perfect and i still cant believe shiki got a song like this that takes him as a character so seriously. i havent felt so emotionally impacted by a song since chihaya's saihyou.

i love shiki more than anything in the entire world and i want to spend the rest of my life producing him. thats why when april 4th 2023 happened, it became impossible to listen to this song. theres a line in hyper believer that goes "millions of failures, successes, and brilliance are waiting for me" and i became unable to even face shiki when, in the real world, it seemed like there was no future waiting for him at all. all i could feel was my regret, my shock, my failure as a producer, my anger towards the situation sidem was put in. i carried these heavy feelings with me for months and didnt listen to the song for almost a year. until 8th live.

i attended sidem's 8th live at k-arena with nervous apprehension, careful excitement. very guarded. 2023 was the worst year of my life because of sidem, but also the best because of sidem. the idea of this being the final live and the end of the roadmap made me sick to my stomach and i sat in my seat on level-5 on day 2 with the idea that it could be the last time, ever. however, after a perfect baton touch from chibasho, nogamin came out on stage and performed hyper believer. "with tears in my eyes, i know i cant let this end". i was blown away. every single line hit me like a truck, only amplified by how long itd been since i heard them. after it was over, i was so stunned i didnt even register different songs had begun to play until 2-3 songs later. with that one song, every worry that clouded my life since april was blown away and my love for imas that had dropped to a 10% raised back up to 100%. along with platinum mask's b-side being performed, go for it, the surprise appearance of rairai meishi, and all the announcements afterwards that proved that sidem not only wasnt stopping any time soon, but revving up more than ever for the 10th anniversary made hachisu my favorite live of all time. i felt like everything id worked up to actually meant something and now i can face shiki with more love than ever because of this song.

5. go for it

everything about go for it is very quintessentially "sidem" to me. being able to see minori as the center for such a fun shuffle unit is so precious. the unit originating in moba and then getting a song together through saisuta feels like staff very carefully considered how to bridge the gaps between both worlds and im very grateful for how much care was put into creating this project for them. not only that, but the lyrics are so fun and positive in a very sidem way and im so happy our oldest idols could sing this together since the age range of the idols being so wide is another charm point of sidem.

i also really love how sidem-like the music itself is too. sidem music is inherently instantly recognizable among other imas music because its men singing, but i think its really commendable that even if the vocals were muted, most people could still probably tell this was a sidem song. i also love love love how the music is ... tastefully dated? it matches the silly goofy aesthetic of over30 so much. its so playful. i love this song so much

i really hope i can own a proper go for it cd one day..... :(

6. summertime graffiti

not only do i think this is just a really really fun, catchy song that everybody should listen to, but this is the song that all 4 of my tantou sing together... <3 having tantou in different units means i dont get to see them together that often, and although theres 全体曲 and other songs like 315 steelo and welcome to japan that feature a mix of my 4 tantou, but this is the only song with kyoji pierre minori AND shiki singing together. beit and highxjoker combined with the energy and cuteness that yusuke and kyosuke add makes this the perfect song that i cant help but smile while listening to! hearing it performed at masters of idol world last year was so incredible i still cant believe it actually happened.... :'D

7. sunset colors

sideani 315. thats all i can really say. highxjokers songs are usually more idol-like in line distrubition and style than band-like, but for the anime they went full in on highxjoker being a band and it was so beautiful. shikis lead vocals throughout the entire song with everyone else backing him up feels like the most true to form highxjoker song ever. an entire episode of sideani being dedicated to this story and the build up to jun yelling out shikis name during the role call.... ;---; not to mention highxjokers seiyuu learning their characters instruments to perform it at 3/4 legs of the 3rd live tour... its such a huge honor to have my idol be the center of such an important song.

8. red hot beat

another song i just simply love to listen to and makes me really happy. super upbeat and high energy, perfect for all the physical members ❤️ i really really really adore the line distrubition in this song. seeing all of the combinations is so fun and i really like how most of them pair the idols up with more unexpected duos, which makes it really fun. shiki and minori are my physical tantous, so getting to hear asselin and minoris duet followed by shiki and suzakus duet is just so fun!! those combinations could only happen in this song so i tresure them deeply. the lyrics are so adorable too... theyre filled with such a deep love/affection that only idols ive produced for 10 years now could sing, yknow? if that makes sense. this song and its lyrics can only work because the sidem idols have been active for such a long time. cries.

also, minori was the event sr for the red hot beat event in saisuta which i had a lot of fun running. i think i hit 500,000 points? it really was fun....

9. secret ornament

theres not really a super deep reason for choosing this, but i just really love this song. theres something so endlessly magical about getting to hear kyoji pierre and minoris voices harmonizing together. a more orchestral song like this that relies on their vocals more shows that off perfectly. the violin solo after minoris solo gives me goosebumps no matter how many times i listen to this song on repeat. i love them so much. i cant wait to hear this song live one day ;-;

10. voy@ger

this might be cheating but theres no way i couldnt include voy@ger. voy@ger is my favorite thing the idolmaster franchise has ever done. ever. i cant say it enough. every single part of it is perfect. absolutely perfect. ive talked about it so much and gone over every possible detail and frame and milisecond of the song so many times that i wont repeat it all here but i just want to mention specifically that...

obviously i love the choice of sidem idols that got to participate because kyoji got to take part in this project but because... well... for a long time the reason othermas Ps would give that they didnt want to hear our sidem idols perform with their girls is because their voices are too deep and they would sound weird or bad or disruptive to the girls. i really hate this. not only is this super disrespectful to the song writers and sound producers, but also for more importantly the idols and seiyuu, both male and female. for nanwara and poplinks tune and even cryst@loud later on, only the main trio idols were used, but they were the "obvious choices" and only drastars members sang with the girls. but voy@ger didnt go that route and used idols outside the main trios. and for sidem in my opinion it wouldve been really easy for them to just choose. like. idk. kanon saki pierre ie the idols with the highest pitched voices and thrown them in the group so they could sing on the same octave as the girls but they didnt do that at all. and thats my favorite thing about voy@ger. kyoji genbu chris are probably the 3 idols with the LOWEST voices in all of idolmaster and im so happy they were given that opportunity to prove the weirdos who hate sidem wrong. they killed it so hard. im so in love with every decision made about voy@ger i could literally talk about this forever but this is probably my time to wrap this post up....!!

i do really resent that one post from a while ago that said you should get RPG Maker MZ instead of MV (to the point of pretending that popular games made with MV were made with MZ instead to hide the fact that there were no major games using MZ at the time (i'm still not sure there are any now.)) because while MZ is very very similar to MV (to the point of basically being a scam if you already have MV.) it has the special quirk that the major plugins for it (it has its own as i believe its not normally compatible with MV's for some reason) have super irrecoverably obfuscated code which while yes this does prevent people from stealing it which was the intent, also makes it literally impossible for you to do minor fixes or changes yourself, so I honestly just would not bother trying to do anything serious with them because what would be a minor hurdle with an unobfuscated plugin (like say you need to change like 2 lines to make it compatible with something else or display a certain way) can easily become insurmountable if you are literally not able to edit it at all...This is a very specific complaining post it's ok if it makes no sense at all I'm just talking for some reason.

When I tell you I started laughing when the dude started rapping... Lmao. Like, omg, that was some of the worst rapping I've heard in my life. Dude made Jack Harlow sound like a fucking poet. The English accent and his low tone were so out of place in the song too. And his flow was bad. Like, his part was terrible, even worse than I expected. It was so bad and weird I couldn't help laughing. This entire song just gave me a chuckle. I had tears in my eyes in the end.

The MV didn't make any sense, and the studio parts with the three of them were so out of place in the whole MV. We had The Kid Laroi looking, like one of my anons once said, like a 15 year old trying out his dad's clothes. The lyrics and random inserts of women didn't help lmao.

Even JK looked ridiculous in that suit with his hair styled back like he was in the mob, though his first look was great. He sounded good, as always, even if he got the same verses throughout the song. For sure he sounded and looked better than the other two - as expected. He always sounds and looks better than the other artists, which is a sign he either needs to find better collabs or stop fucking doing them. The song wasn't even bad - it just had a bad rap and a bland main artist. In JK's hands alone the song would've been nice, which is what I've been saying about literally every single collab so far.

Tbh, this song would've bothered if I didn't know we had 8 new solo(-ish) JK songs on the way. I'm untouchable now. This is the last hurdle we have to overcome before Golden is here. Then. there will be no more unnecessary rapping and bland vocalists. The Kid Laroi isn't a bad singer, but his voice is so overwhelmingly bland.

Also, we really had to wait two extra minutes after the premier started? That was new. The things I do for you JK.

not trying to keep the negative train going but also jungkook is kind of new to the relationship so there's a lot of different things going on here as far as who is spending more time with who. to the best of my understanding, they hadnt really spent much time together in that way until they met up on the road and hes very much still training to even be able to kiss her or sleep next to her unsupervised, so of course theres gonna be a bit of a gap.

I remembered an ask you got talking about how exo got really successful so quickly they didn't really get a chance to branch out and develop artistically, so I wanted to ask you about your thoughts on the members as solo artists since they all have atleast a solo album out (you might as well include exo sc since they got to put their own ideas in everything) and all of them were allowed to have a say in things creatively from lyrics,concept and packaging if they wanted too, especially since all their music except for the ballad singers is so different from each other

also wanna know if you were completely surprised with a member like a performance or a concept was something you'd never imagine them doing

omg did i???? i don't even remember my own asks anymore at this point sldkfsdlkfjl. i don't even know if i agree with my own statements there in the first place since exo has done a pretty wide variety of concepts over their lifetime as a group. ....WAIT i think this is about the kai v taemin ask re: image, where i said that kai hasn't been a solo artist for as long so there hasn't been the same type of exploration of image the way taemin has done. i think that is a fair point to extrapolate across to the rest of the exos, since none of them (except for yixing, he's a bit closer to taemin) have been soloists for very long, comparatively, and they all started as adults. personally i think it's a lot more apparent with their solo endeavours that they're confident in their artistic personas and personal tastes, and that comes across in the ones who have multiple releases. yixing is the one with that's shown the most variation, because he's been a soloist the longest, but i do still think that his stuff has some pretty obvious artistic fingerprints and consistency on it. he's matured a lot and in a very specific direction now, but you can see the genesis of a lot of his style early on.

as far as my personal opinions of all of their work goes, i do like that sm chose to debut them solo later in life. i'm sure it was an annoyance to the members themselves, but i think there's a benefit to being older and having a clearer sense of artistic identity and a long time to sit on ideas. it's hard to churn out solo work at the speed to match kpop turnovers and sitting on something so it can be exactly how you want it is good, actually. i like that kai's debut was really delayed bc it meant that there was a LOT of work put into it, and it shows. and i like that he took a full year for the first cb too. it was really clear to me that suho sat with grey suit for probably the entire time he was in the military, bc he came out rip-roaring with an incredibly well put together cb. the exos that have put out more solo work pretty clearly want to and care about what they're putting out, which i think is exactly how it should be. i don't listen to all of them equally, but the ones that get the most plays for me right now are baekhyun, suho, and xiumin. and then sc, probably.

i think my most dramatic surprise was by hurdle, actually. in hindsight it makes a lot of sense with where he's arrived after coming out of the military, but i wasn't expecting something so stylized from him, since he was tending towards the sort of artsy ballad type. tbh suho's discog is very artistically consistent and i can trace the things he's interested in visually, which i didn't even realize until i went back and watched the let's love mv and the dinner station. his stuff tends towards a more melancholy tone so that's why hurdle surprised me so much, because it's much more upbeat, but i think it stylistically matches with grey suit in a weird way (it's probably the colour matching). maybe next would be peaches? but that was mostly because i didn't like ANY of the songs on the album, which i'm still kinda disappointed about bc i really liked almost everything off mmmh. i wasn't that surprised by any of the visuals. sc is pretty much exactly what it says on the tin, chen's ballads are pretty typical also. i wasn't that surprised by kyungsoo's solo even though a lot of people were, because i was already kind of expecting him to do a ballad solo so rose wasn't that far off (and kind of preferable, personally). xiumin's was exactly what i wanted from him and i have zero complaints. uh who am i forgetting................oh baekhyun. nothing surprising about his discog, although i WAS surprised by how good bambi was. like he did not have to do that kind dance performance and nor was i expecting him to, but damn. honestly i'm still surprised every time i watch the mv.

458 M/V

Title: 458 is the equivalent of ILU aka I Love you

Unlike Jungle and Numb, 458 is far less explicit with its story-elements - both in visuals and lyrics which is understandable since Dante's 7 Levels of Purgatory also offer less to work with in terms of striking visuals.

To generalize, Dante's Purgatory is set up to confront sinners with the counterparts to the Seven Deadly Sins, aka the Seven Virtues. Unlike Hell which was very much based on sinful actions, the sins here are more character-based and making it through all of Purgatory is meant to basically cleanse the soul so it can enter Heaven.

Early on in the MV, we get a glimpse of an Angel which could be Beatrice - a direct messenger from God who pops up throughout the entire Divine Comedy and serves as a direct communication link between Dante and God. Her job is basically to ensure the mission gets carried out fully and successfully.

Later on, we also get a quick shot of her whispering something in Hyunsuk's ear which could symbolize their first personal encounter as was the case near the end of Purgatory when she took over as Dante's personal guide.

In addition to Beatrice, a golden eagle also makes an appearance in the video with Jinyoung. As seen in the animated Trailer, within the story, Dante dreamed it was an eagle who carried him to the entry point of Purgatory.

As Dante's version of Purgatory is filled with angels meant to guide the sinners back onto the right track, we can find a lot of angel imagery throughout the MV

There's also a bunch of scrolling text on the LED boards seen in the back throughout the choreography-centered sections of the video - short phrases such as "The soul which is created quick to love", "l tempo non si perda per poco amor" (yet another excerpt from Canto 18 - the one about love and free will), "Per ardua ad astra" (through adversity to the stars), and so on

These can be seen more easily in the Behind the Scenes

We also get shots of Hyunsuk's bare back where we find words written along his spine - specifically the words "Ratto, ratto, che 'l tempo non si perda per poco amor" from Canto 18

Other shots show the members in red-and-white racing gear with the words "Luceat lux tua" printed across the front - "Let your light shine". This is a callback to Byounggon's line in What You Wanted and those same words can also be found on the official lightstick.

The suits are best seen in the MV Reaction video.

At another point, we find Byounggon in front of some fire again - an element that can be found within Dante's Purgatory as well nearing the end of the story when they encounter the Virtue of Chastity (quite funny when Byounggon's wearing a damn handcuff necklace in the shot).

This encounter takes place in the final ring of Purgatory meaning it's the last hurdle before they can finally enter Heaven. Within the story, Dante and his two companions have to walk through a freakishly hot wall of fire and, once they've made it to the other side, Dante has to say Goodbye to Virgil who'd accompanied him through all of Hell and Purgatory so he wouldn't have to suffer alone.

Toward the end of the MV, the overall tone shifts as we see a grayscale wide shot of a ginormous angel statue, kneeling, hunched over, and crying as water emerges from below its folded legs and falls off the edge of the cliff it's resting upon.

Now, I'm not sure what exactly this statue represents but we do have a lot of crying as Dante and crew walk through Eden, though it's mostly him who's first crying over Virgil and then when some angels show compassion toward him. However, we do also get a moment of Beatrice weeping which is likely to have inspired this shot.

As the members emerge from what I assume to be Eden, we can see more giant statues behind them - likely a representation of the Procession found in Canto 29 where a bunch of white-robed people are guided by a candelabra.

We end on a wide-shot of five statues facing the giant kneeling angel - one statue for each member.

They've survived Hell and Purgatory. Now it's time to enter Paradise.
