I don’t have the time or energy to consider another fic right now but man, there’s a Aloy/Avad/Kotallo post-game fic hanging out in my head because I’m sure Avad was so relieved that his cousin was coming back from the West and would be there to help him establish better ties with the Tenakth and then his cousin dies - he just keeps losing family - and now he’s got to meet the Tenakth chieftain and...

Avad’s self-aware enough to realize he doesn’t look at all like a warrior, that he stopped his father and took the throne through cunning, allegiances and the fact that I think one of the last things his father did was send Avad’s older brother to the arena to die? And I kind of wonder if that wasn’t the tipping point for anyone to realize that if your king is killing his own heirs there’s no floor to this downfall.

(Always wanted to write an Avad POV fic where it was implied his brother also realized that being that sacrifice might be enough to tip public opinion and still save his bookish little brother, in case his own challenge against their father didn’t work out)

So Avad knows that if he doesn’t impress the Tenakth chieftain - the greatest of warriors from a civilization entirely made of warriors - it’s going to put things in a bad spot for the Carja and he is so tired of bloodshed and he is almost certainly not going to impress the least-coordinated Tenakth trainee, let alone their leader - and then Aloy walks in with Kotallo the brick shithouse and Avad is just like, well that’s it, we’re screwed.

I imagine at first, Kotallo is a bit taken aback that this rather mild-mannered, unassuming guy is the one who stopped the Mad Sun King’s reign of terror and murdered his own father, or at least created the circumstances for it to happen - but Aloy’s been reassuring him that Avad’s a good leader and a good man and doing right by the Carja and the Oseram, and wishes to do right by their alliance as well.

I think the thing that will sway Kotallo’s opinion is that he watches Avad face a situation the way his old chief back in the Sky Clan had to react to him - but Avad does the right thing, trusting and rewarding loyalty.  He realizes that Avad may not be the strongest in the room, but he’s very good at being good to his allies, and doesn’t feel threatened by other people’s strengths, and wouldn’t have ever done to Kotallo what happened to him back home.

Also there’s a threesome, because the Sun King deserves nice things.  And then Avad and Kotallo can cuddle and wonder just where Aloy ran off to this time and could she leave a note maybe just once?  Drop a piece of paper with an arrow on it under a rock?

1. what was your writing-highlight this year? what made it special and how will you reflect on it next year?

For me honestly it was just getting back into writing! 2021 had some major personal crises and I actually went a full 9 months without writing anything!! which was terrible. 2022 really got me back on track and I was able to get two full novel drafts. So I guess just getting back on track is the biggest relief and highlight for me this year. And for next year, I can reflect back and know that even if more crises hit, I can still get back to writing and even almost a full year didn't really hurt my writing in the long run <3

4. what is your favourite line you wrote this year?

My actual fav line I can't tell you bc spoilers lol I'm actually really proud of my opening to twtr!

8. what are three things you're looking forward to next year?

1. Playing new video games! (Stray and HZD2 are on my list) 2. Hopefully getting a new day job 3. Outlining and hopefully writing new stories <3

Ladies, I'm checking in.... to say that I got to a section of HZD2 where Aloy is confronted with three people wearing gaggy futuristic high drag :\ I was waiting for sissy that walk to start playing.

I loved it. This is so exciting. Not only that but there's a massive spoiler thing happens along with these people's entrance in the plot that's crazy.

It's a lot of fun playing this game but I have NO TIME.

Kotallo + Aloy

I’ll always love Erend + Aloy but Kotallo and her both come from damaged pasts that led them into this lone wolf type but still forced to interact with others. In a way, all Aloy’s friends represent a facet of her personality but also complements her with unique traits of their own so Aloy’s not bored. Aloy needs challenges or she’ll go mad. And Kotallo’s “challenge” was probably funnest in the game.

Ngl, I am super not interested in having romance options added to the game. Like, if that’s your thing, more power to you. I’m just not looking for that from HZD. I kind of like that there’s none explicitly in the game just because it leaves everything open to interpretation and you can run with whatever you like in your own imagination or fanfic or whatever. Aloy, as a character, is dealing with so much stuff, I don’t think I can see her warming up to anyone that fast. And, frankly, bitch is busy. Call her later when she’s not in the middle of stopping the apocalypse, bruh.

Why are you shipping clones/sisters?

i'm believe this is about my aloy/beta post...imma answer this in good faith bc i don't get anon asks often, outside of the occasional ask game. simple answer: it's a fictional story in a video game. these are not real people. longer answer: if in the future, someone made multiple clones of me to ensure the survival of the planet and those clones met and decided to kiss and maybe get each other off, i would support it so long as there was mutual consent.

fwiw, i don't think clones are the same as siblings...like, i suppose you could make the argument that shared genetics is similar to being twins. obvs aloy being a clone of elisabet raises for her the question of free will vs bio determinism, which is mirrored in beta (whose personhood is largely dismissed by the zeniths, who use her as a sort of living key to attaining their goals). and the game clearly leans the "these are different people with diverging personalities who ultimately make their own choices" route. but again! this is all fiction! tbh i don't really care if they're genetic sisters or "merely" clones of a dead woman because ultimately they are Not Real and i think it'd be cute for them to teach each other about love as a form of inner-child healing and self-care.
