Day 21/October 21: Day of the Departed || Reminisce (??)
GRAHH ITS STILL THE 21ST SOMEWHERE i’m apparently using morrotober to try new things this one’s a new lineart brush that i’m sorta warming up to and the POSE and the BACKGROUND and the LIGHTING i’m surprised i finished this at all tbh. and also new morro design
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
bg lineart and sword vs neither plus the green ghost fog thing i do basically if you zoom in really really close the lines aren’t smooth on the lineless bgs but icba the pedestal can be chipped or something. i kinda like without the sword and fog cause it gives him a more isolated feel yk (that was my original idea lmao)

this one’s my attempt at funky mannequin hands

A new character! I will make a proper ref for him later, but I reallly wanted to start with something cooler looking heh. I repurposed an old design I had for this.
Character bio below:
Name: Ichirou
Nicknames: Kiddo, little fluffball (Raitei) Shii-kun (Caelan)
Age: 14
Height: 150 cm
A “premature” Spider hanyou (half-blooded spirit whose mother was a Jorogumo in this case)
Role: Errand boy/unofficial little silbing to Caelan/adoptive son to Araknos
Family: Unknown; unofficial adoptive parent Jurou/Araknos, mother-like figure Katana and sometimes Rui, Jurou’s mother.
Love interest: No (he’s a kid)
Friends: Raitei, Caelan, Milo (later in the story)
Rival(s): None
Powers:
Ability to produce strong spiders web and use it to puppeteer anything and everything, from puppets to furniture, even trees, vegetation and other living beings
He can use these webs to also slash things to pieces or hang onto something - or someone.
ventriloquism; he can make it seem like its an object he’s controlling that talks instead of himself.
Ability to sense other souls and consume them as his kin are soul eaters. He can’t eat human souls fully however.
he’s very quick and good at hiding
Weaknesses:
Ichirou is a “premature” spiderling, meaning he gained his powers at a too young age. This has resulted in stunted growth, making him look younger than he is, and also inability to control his powers properly. He can’t do most of the things his kin can, such as summon massive spiders out of shadows, morph his body parts into something suitable for weaponry, etc.
He also can’t eat human souls fully, despite needing soul energy to sustain himself properly, as while he can still eat human food, it’s like being on a very nutrient deficient diet. Ichirou mainly either uses animal souls, or Araknos spares him some bits of a soul he devours when Caelan gets possessed again. (Long story explained in Araknos and Caelan’s bios)
He gets scared easily, and is highly afraid of being left alone again, to the point he might try and protect the people he cares for in a manner that puts his life needlessly at risk. He also gets triggered by his dolls being harmed somehow, where he basically gets enraged and loses control of his own power, making it destroy everything around him wildly while he screams inhumanely loud (to the point the sound can destroy things and rupture your eardrums) and this will only stop once he’s knocked out.
Personality:
Ichirou is a very shy and timid child who prefers speaking through his dolls. He’s curious despite his timidness and likes to lurk around and listen in on conversations. He can get emotionally overwhelmed pretty easily, especially if someone close to his age is nice to him, as he’s not used to it. (This resulted in kind of a funny episode within the story - Y’know, if I’d actually make it - where he’d stalk Milo and Silas for a while after Milo was nice to him.)
He’s very respectful and polite most of the time towards everybody, and is often afraid of doing something wrong (a remnant from his past before shit went down) panicking easily if he breaks something or takes something he wasn’t supposed to.
BG story:
Before Ichirou found himself in the care of a fellow, older Spider’s son, he was stuck with an abusive father who made him jumpy and apologize over minor things all the time, even hitting the poor boy.
His spider mother in turn, had tried for so long to finally have a son, and now that she finally did have one, was much more protective over him than her kind would typically be. Watching this abuse unfold she couldn’t bear to watch it anymore, so she went on to kill his dad (as her kin typically do; in this case she did it sooner than she’d originally meant to) but unfortunately the people he ended up with weren’t much better. To help her son escape his situation, she attempted to give him his powers sooner at the age of 11 instead of 18, which of course goes against the nature rules governing her kind.
As a result Ichirou lost both of his parents and was given an incomplete vessel for his new powers. Completely alone and eventually driven off his village out of fear as people assumed he’d eat their souls, Ichirou eventually wandered to the path of another Spider son, much older and stronger than him, which naturally scared the kid at first. This man, Jurou Hasegawa, also known as Araknos, took pity on him and decided to take him under his wing as well.
Fun facts:
Ichirou is stuck in this height and with more childlike features because of his premature “rebirth”
Ichirou can’t remember his mother’s name or face, only her kind voice. Katana’s voice reminds him of hers hence he’s fond of the amnesiac Demon hunter.
Jurou’s mother Yui taught him how to make dolls after he lost the one he was clinging to from his former home village.
Ichirou has dolls about every person around him, except Araknos and Yuushi; he finds making one of either would be disrespectful.
The way he treats these dolls reflects on his relationship with the person; He’s very nice to Caelan and Raitei dolls with quickly fixing whatever tears they may get, usually uses Katana doll as a teddy bear, whereas he might throw Claude doll around a little.
He eventually has a doll about Milo too, despite them being on the “opposing sides” technically due to an event where Milo helps him.
Ichirou likes to ride on Raitei’s back.
His outfit is one of Caelan’s old childhood ones, one that wasn’t worn much as Caelan preferred the blue ones over the purple.

My Art Process (sort of, for painterly portraits)
So a long time ago @iartsometimes asked me if I could make a post about my art process and here it is finally! I'm not really sure how to explain it in an accurate or interesting way since a) I didn't save as many progress pics as I should have and b) my process isn't always exactly the same every time, but I'll do my best to describe the main ways in which I make this sort of art most of the time. And I'm using the process for this drawing as example.
This was a relatively very quick one so it's not as detailed as some others but the basic principles still apply. For practically all my art on this blog I was using at least a couple of different brushes but nowadays I'm only using one of those, set at 50% oppacity. I always start by just filling in the background with the main color that stands out to me from the bg of the ref itself, and then I lay down some more basic big blotches of color here and there to get a sense of the overall colors and values (light and dark areas).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It doesn't have to be totally accurate to the ref but I just take my cues from there so it fits well in the end and also because I don't like to start drawing on a blank/white canvass.
Then on a separate layer I just start blocking a general shape of whatever part of the subject grabs my attention the most, so sometimes I might actually start with the clothes if it's a bigger area of solid color, or the hair, but in this case it was the face. And again I just pick a main color to start blocking and then keep blocking dark areas to start getting the shapes before eventually moving on to highlights and other colors (like warm and cold tones).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I never sketch with this kind of drawing where I'm using a ref and find it easier to just paint and slowly make out the shapes and build the details, and I prefer doing it on one layer or as few layers as possible that I'll end up combining into one.
Sometimes I block out the whole overall shape before starting to add the inner shapes and details but in this case for some reason I just felt more like doing it part by part so I did a lot of work on just the head for a while, and then the shirt, and then the jacket, and then the cigarette, but kept going back and forth to all those parts to add and adjust more little details. While I'm doing this I'll often also resize the drawing at least once or twice and move it to where I want.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I usually make colors by just changing them however I need from some color I already put down in the bg or some other part of the painting. Something I really like is color contrast so I often like exaggerating little blocks of warm and cold tones, and I also love just leaving things looking a bit rough around the edges with visible brushstrokes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So after these one I didn't save any more progress pics I think. I just finished some details everywhere like the top hair, the print on his shirt, some stuff on the jacket and probably his face too. I'm never really completely done with any particular part of a drawing until I decide I'm done with the whole thing.
And then another thing I always do, sometimes during the process of the rest of the painting but other times, like in this case, after I finish the subject, is that I add more detail to the background. I do this on a separate layer and usually it's just adding more colors to make it all flow better with the rest of the drawing, fix anything with the values, and just add some random spots of contrasting colors to make it more interesting by making some big brustrokes and then partially erasing them (though I didn't add the smaller spots so much in this case and left it at bigger adjustments).
After that the only thing left is that I almost always adjust the final colors in all the layers (I usually end up with about 3-5 layers) to make them a bit more intense. Usually I like to make the midtones warmer by increasing the reds or magentas, I make the shadows more blueish, and the highlights more yellow.
Not sure if I mentioned everything I do or if it was cohesive and interesting but yeah I think these are the main "steps" or elements about my portrait painting process. In general, I prefer painting without sketching, focusing on the bigger picture rather than details, leaving things kinda rough and having visible brushstrokes, and play around with bright colors and exaggerated color contrast. And finally here's a little progress gif of all the images above plus the final drawing where you can kinda see it coming together.

Thanks for reading! And thanks Tanya for asking about this!! Hope it was the sort of thing you had in mind XD

So, my current hyper-fixation is Ninjago, and I have this idea for an au using my characters and Echo because he’s a pure child and i refuse to let him sit alone in his lighthouse
This Au is named the Champion Au, and before i talk more im going to link to Tailath’s (that giant monster thing in the bg) ref because I know no one knows who they are and probably doesn't care.
Edit: I finally gave Tailath a proper reference sheet for this Au! It can be found here along with Laylat Aldam.
---
So, basically, when the ninja destroy two dimensions, this attracts the attention of one of my other characters, Laylat Aldam. So, as he’s working on fixing everything and making sure this doesn't spill over into other dimensions, Tailath, having taken a peek at this crazy ass dimension and being salty about Jay not using his powers to their full extent, notices a weird lighthouse and finds Echo with Gizmo (the tiny teacup robot) there, rusted and breaking down.
Deciding that this would not stand, Tailath fixes him up and gives him love and attention and basically adopts him. However, Tailath realizes that Ninjago (and the other dimensions connected to it) have a bunch of malicious creatures hidden in plain sight that could royally screw up somethings. Demons, lingerings souls, corrupted beings, etc.
Echo sees this too and, after a bit of discussing, it is agreed that Echo can go and stop these creatures, with help from some other beings that work under Tailath as well. Echo isn't the best at first but slowly gets the hang of it, and he’s proficient at dual wielding. He can also change his appearance to look human, like Zane in season 8 with Snake Jaguar, so he can get really close and take care of them while drawing little to no attention to himself.
Notes:
Echo works in the background of the Ninjas and is usually unseen by most
By becoming Tailath’s Champion, Echo basically works under them and makes sure nothing is screwed up too much.
Tailath and Echo’s dynamic is a parent child one. Echo calls Tailath his ‘dad-mum’ while Tailath loves embarrassing him in front of other by calling him their ‘golden baby’.
In this Au, what happened was that Echo was built but didn't work at first, so Dr. Julien gave up on him and thought he was a failure. Gizmo, however, was able to get him working somehow, but only after the ninja had left the lighthouse
Nya’s and Jay’s memories are blurry after Skybound, so they hardly remember primary points of what happened there, let alone Echo. If they did remember him, they would have never left him
Echo does remember about the events of Skybound and was angry at the two of them for a long time before Tailath explained what was up with their memory's. He doesn't mind too much now and has forgiven them, though the subject is still a bit of a sore topic.
Can still stick to walls and climb easily
Is thinner and lighter than Zane, and can move quicker too, however he can take less hits
Gizmo also comes along on missions and is there to help keep track of defeated creatures. Gizmo also point’s out hidden or subtle things that Echo might not notice.
Echo mainly uses Dual swords, however he can also use knives and a bow. He has extremely good aim, and can shoot an arrow or throw a knife with deadly precision
When in combat, Echo is silent, deadly, calm and confident.
When out of combat, however, Echo is actually a bit shy and nervous around people. He stutters a lot and acts a bit oddly. This is a side affect of being alone for so long, however he has been getting calmer and more confident about talking to people.
Echo constantly smells strongly of rust (though he is not rusty anymore) and the ocean. This gains some looks from people when he walks past.
Echo likes brownies and fudge.
I may have other characters become Champions to some of my other characters. If you have any ideas, feel free to tell me!
---
Anyway, this is an idea I’ve been thinking about a lot and just had to write down. I hope you like it! If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask!

Artist spotlight: Lunarin-Arts!
✿ Commissions ✿ Instagram ✿ DeviantArt ✿ Twitter ✿ Tumblr
Header source: [X]
Introduce yourself I am Lonneke! But online I prefer going by the name Rumii. I am currently 20 years old and I live in the Netherlands. In my spare time I like drawing (of course), Cosplaying and Gaming. I used to be really into anime, And I still have favourites like Kamisama hajimemashita, Black butler and hetalia. But right now I am more of an artist/ gamer. In which I play alot of Overwatch, which would be my main fandom. and Story rich games like NieR; Automata. I love meeting new people, and especially other artists. Even though I tend to be a bit shy at first //especially in large groups Nonetheless I hope we can get along!! And Im very excited to try out zines. as I have never done them before. When did you start drawing? Are you a digital or traditional artist? I started drawing in last grade of primary school, so around the age of 11/12. I primarily started out traditionally, but quickly picked up on digital art. Mainly using MS Paint when I just started out. Next thing I know I had a drawing tablet and extensively used Paint tool SAI. So I would say I am a digital artist. Though I do traditional as well, but I don't upload traditional art as much.  Do you use any traditional mediums? If so, which are your favorites? I have! for traditional work I just use whatever pencils I have around for sketching. Micron fineliners for Linearting. I don't color my works often, but have started getting some copic markers, pro markers and twin markers to try out. I like using the copic markers alot, they are very expensive.. but I can just feel how much better the quality is compared to my other markers.
Tumblr media
image source: [X]   Why do you prefer traditional over digital? (or viceversa) I highly prefer digital, mainly because it's way more easy to manipulate your works, edit any smaller mistakes without having to draw them over again. and from lineart on, nothing you do is permanent. Plus I can use way more colors than I can on traditional mediums right now. What do you think is the most challenging part about being a traditional/digital artist? I think the biggest challenges for me were getting accustomed to my drawing tablet. I mean it really takes some time to get used to the pressure, and it really feels different than draiwng directly on paper. and after that getting familiar with the drawing programs. I just switched programs again and I am still figuring out all the tools. So even though I think digital mediums make things alot more easy, it takes a long time to get everything out of it. even years later you can discover a function you never knew of. which will elevate your art even more. What inspires your pieces? I take inspiration from various places, I like doing challenges, or just fanart. but also alot from music. it can get me into a certain mood or I can just see a piece that fits with the music. and then try sketching it out while listening to this song. I also like looking around for special things like 'mermay' for example. Look at the themes and just try to imagine what kind of piece I can do with that.
Tumblr media
image source: [X]   Explain your "everyday" drawing process I kinda take I gotta explain how I get through an artwork? well, first of course I try to find my inspiration. Or I already have a vague idea of what I want to do. And I make a super super rough sketch. then I go over it and add slightly more details. My sketches are still usually very messy. but I love that when I lineart I can make everything pretty and detailed. and it looks better compared to the sketch. Which is obviously my next step. After that I lay down base coloring in seperate layers. Always starting with skincolor > Haircolor > eyes > bigger parts of clothes > smaller parts of clothes > details If I have background I try to go with the biggest parts like the sky or ground or whatever first. and move up from bigger to smaller things pretty much. I work very organized so I always have my layers in different maps. Usually one for each character, and for the entire BG. sometimes also different ones for different parts of the background. so it's easy to find back if I have to fix something in a certain part of my artwork. Besides this I also sometimes do more painted works, I have only done those in portraits so far. But in those I made the sketch > put colors below it > merge layers > start the shading part by part on top of it. usually working back to front on which colors overlap eachother Do you have an artist you admire (or more than one)?
I have a few people I know that inspire me, like Chance-To-Draw on DA ( https://www.deviantart.com/chance-to-draw ) And my best friend of mine who doesn't really upload her works anywhere anymore ;;-;; So I can only admire her through our discord server >< I also love Lord_Gris (https://www.instagram.com/lord_gris/) alot! And Rosuuri (https://www.instagram.com/rosuuriart/) ofc those are a few well-known artists. I follow alot more people with amazing art but gosh I can't possibly list all of them here >< I just like seeing a variety of different art styles and OC's Is there an artwork you are most proud of? Why? Right now I'd say this one; http://fav.me/dd4acw5 I just..love how the coloring turned out. this was a really hard painted piece to do aaa >< especially her hair. But Im just so happy with it! I really feel like I have been improving my coloring again lately and I can't get enough of it jgkdhf
Do you listen to music (or tv shows/films/anything else) when drawing? YEees, I listen to vocaloid covers alot, actually. also covers from other things. just..alot of covers. or original fanbase songs ahah A few examples here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwMZhdyZHVI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNoy_b_JYU0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPMhkIiapIA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPw-0vctJJQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Tr014nQ4pk
Tumblr media
image source: [X]   What makes art interesting for you? For me it started alot as a way to vent my emotions. It calms me down to draw when I am sad, angry or happy even. I love being able to look back and see the improvement. and know that in 2 years I will once again look back at the stuff I am currently very proud of. and know I can already do so much better than that! This is really what keeps it interesting to me, I think. What do you do when art block strikes? //Cry// Jk, To be honest. I either try to break through and search for any inspiration. Or I just call it a day and go game or listen to music. In the last 1.5/2 years I have had a massive art block. I was dissapointed in my own art. didn't know what to draw anymore. and didn't see the point of continuing. Just recently I found a new art program. which in this case helped me get out of this huge slump. and I'm ready to be a bit more active. and get into new projects and broaden my horizon's in general What’s the most valuable art advice you’ve ever received?
Well, I haven't asked for alot of advice before. but a while ago I sortof got the advice to use references more often. After which I feel alot less afraid to do so. and feel like my works are getting alot better. and I find it easier to start on things after searching for pose or background refs

Bunnysunnymew’s tips and tricks for buying commissions
Hey people of tumblr. So I’ve been buying commissions for over 2 years now and I thought I’d give out some helpful tips and tricks for those of you just getting into it, things that I wish I had know when I stated commissioning. First advice is don’t start because it quickly becomes an addiction. However if you still want to, here's what to do.
DO
ASK! About EVERYTHING. Check their TOS and commission page first and if you can’t find information there then MAKE SURE YOU ASK! Before you pay them be sure you  know:
Their refund policy
Their estimated wait time
Their “changes fee” policy. Meany artist charge extra if they have to make a change to the drawing (or even to the sketch for some) and that can wrack up to be a handful. Avoid commissioning people unwilling to make changes after the product is given
Their policy on you using the art  and posting the art to other websites. Some Artists put tricky little clauses in their Terms of Service saying you can’t post it anywhere or with customs and adopts you can’t do certain things with the character, so make sure you know that first and avoid commissioning people with a lot of restrictions
THEIR TERMS OF SERVICE! And make sure you read it thoroughly! I know we are all used to just clicking agree when it comes to tos’s on other things but when it comes to art IT IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIALLY THAT YOU READ IT! Otherwise they can just wright in clauses stating all payment is final and they have unlimited time to complete it so you might wait two years and still be empty handed, and they still legally will have the upperhand on you.
If WIPs (works in progress) are induced or if you have to ask for them
Their will not draw list. Some artists have certain things that they will not draw, like not safe for work, fetishes overly complicated machines, furries, gore, and offensive content. If you want a drawing of something that is on someone's do not draw list, do yourself a favor, find someone else. This is not for their sake, its for yours. All you are going to be doing is wasting everyone's time and making the artists (and their fans when they rant about it publicly) very angry. And if you somehow do talk them into drawing it, witch 99% of the time you won’t they will do a garbage job. Trust me, there is always someone else who is willing to draw what you want. It doesn't matter how much you liked their style find someone else someone whos all about that kind of art and you will have a much more pleasant time.
Currency conversions. Not everyone does things in the american dollar so if their paying in pounds, CAD, yen or whatever know how much the american equivalent is. A Lot of people who are not american will have lower prices, however this isnt always the case
2) Utilize same day commissions
This induces in stream commissions on websites like https://picarto.tv where you can get your commission in stream! This is a guarantee that you will avoid people who take months and months to complete or never deliver at all. Just keep in mind that not everyone on those websites who tag their stuff as commissions are taking them right then and there, so you might need to fish around a little bit before finding a winner
This also induces commissions at conventions, especially ones that have multiple days, Make sure you hit up the vendor's hall before you go to any of the panels so you can get on their list faster. If they say it will be done by the end of the convention then thats a green light and your good to go. HOWEVER, IF THEY SAY THAT IT WILL BE MAILED/SENT AFTER THE CON, OR IF YOU GO TO THEM ON THE LAST DAY OF THE CON TOWARDS THE END OF THE DAY AND YOUR COMMISSION'S STILL NOT DONE YET BE EXTREMELY WEARY! Even so some of them may be genuine and honest,  just as many of them will look you in they eye and promise you your commission and then  never deliver. THIS INCLUDES PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALREADY PROVIDED YOU WITH A PRODUCT.
~Storytime: So one time I was at a convention and I found this person who made furry badges at a great price, so I bought one, and I’ll admit to this day its one of if not the best piece of art I have of the character that I commissioned (and believe me, I have a lot of art of this character). Because of this I felt inclined to trust the artist when they told me they would mail it out to me and not only did I buy another commission but I convinced my younger sister to buy one as well  (AND SHE PAID CASH). I was surprised when I saw them at a convention a few weeks later taking more commissions, but I was like its ok its only been a few weeks. Fast foreword to the end of the month, and I still don’t have ether commission. I contact them several times after, sometimes they reply, sometimes they ignore me. 3 months later, they sent me a WIP for my commission. I thanked for the update. I continues asking questions about my commission and my sisters commission. A month later I revived my commission. My sister on the other hand NEVER received hers. After moths and moths of integrating the artist, they claimed the art must have gotten lost in the mail. And insted of refunding her the full amount, (she paid 30 dollars) they claimed she paid 20 and refunded my paypal (because they didn't have hers) 19 dollars and 20 cents (even less than what she claimed my sister paid). You want to know why she got away with it? Because my sister paid cash so we didn't have proof and because we trusted the artist to keep their word. Do not make the same mistake!
3) Set due dates if you can. If you can get them to agree a commission must be done by a certain date or you will be refunded you are much much safer. Keep in mind meny artists aren’t willing to do this  because they claim a due date stresses them out or something so when you find someone who will hold onto that person and don’t let go. Although it's not guaranteed they won't bail on you and just stop responding, this extra insurance makes it far less likey that you’ll get ripped off
4) Search around for good prices first. Don’t just settle with the first person that has nice art, look around! Expensive artists usually are not worth it, and you will get way more bang for your buck if you take the time to search for example this:
Tumblr media
Cost me less then 7 dollars
It took me a while to find this sweet deal, I was searching all day on the streams for a good artist to draw me some stuff and at one point I was getting so desperate i was almost willing to just pay 15 dollars for a sketch, when I stumbled upon this lovey lovey artist. This wasn’t even the first thing I commissioned them, when I saw what great quality they had for a low prices I got another!  They are hidden, but people with great affordable prices are out there, so don’t waste your money with people who are gonna overcharge or charge you more for art than you feel comfortable with
5) Check out their other artwork first. NEVER commission someone until you have thoroughly gone though their gallery and seen examples of past commissions. Sometimes Artists will make their icons prices they commissioned themselves or only put their best work on the front page. Don't ever assume buy looking at one piece that all their art will be the same quality.
6) If your asking about the prices of something make sure you specify that you are only inquiring about the commission and have not yet fully committed. This is very important, both with emails and in person commissions. Don't let them add you to their queue until you've make payment, especially in live streams. Say you are asking for reference and you aren't sure yet in the first sentence. It will make the artist a little disappointed, but it will make them much more disappointed if they start working on your art and you back out, and if they finish the piece before they realize you were just inquiring, you can get in some real hot water.
~Storytime, one time I was at a convention and I was going around asking if artists would be willing to make a certain piece for me (that involved controversial subject matter). The artist immediately asked for my name and information which I guess should have been a bg read flag, and then they sent me a text saying they had started working on it. I didn’t have the heart to tell them that I actually wasn’t interested because the prices were so high, so I ended up paying 50 dollars for something that (while they had clearly put effort into and it wasn't bad) I couldn't afford and didn't exactly value that much. Anxiety about hurting artists feelings can come at the worst of times, even to people like me who are praticuraly strong willed. Do yourself a favor and avoid the situation entirely by being extra clear up front and avoiding any misunderstandings from the get go
7) Barter prices in PRIVATE. This is one I say use with caution, because there are some artists who will be offended that you even asked. However, for every artist I’ve meet who has been like “HOW DARE YOU ASK ME TO CHANGE MY PRICES?!” there are 2 others that were like “yeah, that sounds ok”. Just whatever you do, DO NOT ASK ABOUT IT IN PUBIC! Not unless you want a ton of their rabid fans to come after you and send you nasty hate messages about committing what they view as ultimate sin against their senpai
8) Use flowery, delicate language when asking for changes, discounts and anything else extra that you might want. Artists tend to be hypersensitive people who can sometimes take it personally when you ask them to change their art.  That's why you need to sugar coat EVERYTHING when you talk to them. For example, instead of saying something like “Why did you not draw little white mittens on the end of mittens paws? Did you not read anything I sent you about his character description? Did you not look at the ref at all??? It's LITERALLY IN HIS NAME  YOU Imbecile!” Try something like “ Hey it’s looking really good so far but is there any way you can add little white mittens on his paws? I thought I mentioned that in the original message I sent you but I’m very sorry if I didn’t” Try to avoid accusing them of anything unless it's absolutely necessary because they do not react well to that at all
9) Tip if they did something extra for you, did an amazing job, or have prices you feel are to low. Providing incentive for good behavior will make it more likely to happen in the future.
10) Follow the artist on the social media platform you found them on and if they don't post regularly, do not commission them (more on that later). This will also let you know when they have sales, and any updates and delays you may be having that may delay
11) provide a ref if you can. If it's your first commission ever you may be thinking, “but bunny, I can’t draw! That’s why I’m commissioning other people to draw for me!” Let me tell you something, A POORLY DRAWN REF IS BETTER THAN NO REF AT ALL. Descriptions are ok but they allow a lot of room for error. Provide a description and some kind of drawing, even if its poorly drawn. The artist won't judge you, your paying them. If not you can commission someone without a visual ref, however be aware you may be setting yourself up for potential major inconstancys
12) try offering them cash to speed up your commission if they aren't doing it fast enough. Not all artist will do this but some will. Cation though, I would not advise this with people who you have never commissioned before and have taken alone time with your commission with no WIP, and they might just be taking your money with no result
13)Have cation with sellers who don't speak your native language. Non-English speakers might have cheaper prices, and be super sweet. However leagues barrier can sometimes cause problem as to communicating what kind of commission you want which can cause problems
14) Check their queue first!!!!!!!!!
~Storytime. So somewhat recently I commissioned someone on furaffinity. And i checked all my boxes. They had good prices, specialized in what I was looking for, seemed active and had a consistent gallery. So I went ahead and commissioned them 30 dollars worth of art. Then I SAW THEIR QUEUE AND FELT INSTANT REGRET. You see I commissioned them in October, of this year. Their queue went back to 2016. It's been over a month now with no WIP and honestly I doubt I’ll be getting it any time soon ALWAYS CHECK FIRST!
Dont:
1) pay in cash (paper cash). If your read the story about the unfaithful commissioner above you probably just in case you should know that when you pay in cash at conventions the majority of people do not provide physical receet. Not only this but even if they do they are easy to lose. I strongly advise you pay with card and pay the extra card processing fee because that gets you a permanent non-loseable proof of precious so it's way harder for them to rip you off.
2) Commission your IRL friends. But they are your best friend and you have to be supportive, right! No! do not do it! I don’t care how good their art is, or how good their prices are, never commission your IRL close friends! It is not worth possible fights and your friendship
~Storytime: So one time I decided to commission one of my best friends in the world. I have known this person for years, they are honestly one of the funniest sweetest and best humans I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. I would take a bullet for this person. That being said I will NEVER EVER EVER COMMISSION THEM AGAIN. Now I came to them about a custom character I had come up with and they said they would do a colored drawing for 15 dollars witch was a good deal. I’d also like to mention that I had commissioned them multiple times in the past with absolutely no problems. But this time I had gotten into a personal fight with my friend, I felt like they were not spending enough time with me and they felt like I was interionaly going out of my way to make them feel bad. So when I inquired about my oc, I was a bit hostel. However this person decided to take their hostility to another level. They claimed that I requested too many changes to the oc and because they helped come up with the design and draw it themselves it was their property now, then said they were going to sell MY OC as an adoptable on their page and they wouldn't let me buy it. I convinced them to sell me back MY OWN OC (and a sketch of my own OC) for the same price as the original commission was worth, then they said i wasn't aloud to make any changes or edits to the art otherwise they regain rights to the OC and If I posted the sketch anywhere I had to use the version with their obnoxiously large signature otherwise they would regain rights to the OC. When I accused them of messing up my commission out of spite for a personal feud, they admitted that was the reason and said it doesn't matter because it's their art. Eventually we both apologize and made up, but that still doesn't change the fact that my commissioner tried to steal my own oc. It was by far the worst commission experience i ever had
3) publicly criticize their prices. It’ll just tick them off and send their little minions after you. It doesn't matter how ridiculous it is, just let it be and let the free market work itself out, they never view it as helpful anyways, and not selling anything is the only way to get most of them to learn
4)commission artists unwilling to change their style. This is why you ask about changes up front, because if they aren't willing to make changes, they aren't worth commissioning. It doesn't matter how much your paying them either. I paid 60 dollars to an artist and they were still unwilling to make a basic change because it “didn’t suit their style”
5) Use friends and family feature on paypal:  see something like this?
Tumblr media
BE SKEPTICAL! PayPal separates these options into two separate categories for a reason! AND THAT REASON IS BUYER PROTECTION! IF YOU USE THE FRIENDS AND FAMILY OPTION YOU ARE GIVING UP ALL YOUR RIGHTS AS A CONSUMER, LIKE THE RIGHT TO A REFUND IF THE PRODUCT IS NEVER DELIVERED! DON'T DO IT! Insted, just offer to pay the difference. A Lot of artists just do this to get around paypal service fee, so if you pay the service fee yourself, there shouldn't be an issue. If they still want you to use the friends and family feature back out!
6) Bug the artist too much. While it is important to get your art in a timely manner, asking an artist constantly will mostly likely make them angry. That's why you get an ETA at the beginning. If they say it will take a week it's ok to ask them about updates every other day, but not if they say it will take a month. If they don’t give you an eta then ask away because you don’t want to get scammed. They kinda brought it on themselves at that point.
7) Be a pushover: this is probably the hardest one, but if they draw something super wrong tell them. You paid money for it, at the end of the day you getting a product that you paid for is more important than their feelings being intact
8)ASSUME THAT THE AMOUNT YOU PAY WILL EQUATE TO THE QUALITY OF THE ART!
Let me show you something
Tumblr media
^ this was 17 dollars
Tumblr media
^this was 10
and THIS (not linking bc I’m not trying to publicly attack them)
Tumblr media
Was 60. All are about the same quality. Actually, I’d argue the 60 dolor one is worth less than the others. Sometimes you can get a bang for your buck. Other times you pay a bunch of money and get next to nothing. Don't assume because you payed a lot of money for something it will be high quality, or vice versa
9)Commission big name artists if you don’t want to pay more money
the more popular they are the more they can change, it's simple economics. Good news is it's hard for popular artists to rip people off because they are in the spotlight and have a lot to lose from doing so. Bad news, expect high prices and long wait times from the get go
10) commission someone rarely active. If you don’t see very much activity on their account that's a huge red flag they might go off the grid
11) treat the artist like a friend or get super personal with them (or flirt with them)
Treat your artist the same way you would treat any other person you'd do business with. Sure they might inspire you and you may relate to their work but that doesn't mean they wanna hear about your life problems or be your best friend. It is a profession, so keep it professional. And if you try flirting with them over a risque piece all you are going to do is make them extremely uncomfortable and get yourself blocked. Just because you pay them money does not make them your friend. It makes you their customer, the same as a lower, doctor, or local cashier.
12) buy a commission you don't want.  Do not buy out of obligation because you talked to them. You will run out of money very quickly
That’s about it. feel free to add on to this post if you guys find anything else. Sorry about all the spelling mistakes, I suck at spelling. I ran it through google docs but I know there’s a lot of stuff that wasn't caught.

As far as feedback goes, I don't agree with the recent trend of not giving full size artwork to people. Some of the more recent batches of coadles are positively tiny and the art seems pretty low quality (resolution), it is scandalous to expect people to pay hundreds of dollars to not provide the full size artwork out of laziness. I don't care about the "you pay for the rights to use the species" reasoning because its an excuse not an explanation, people care about this species but feel cheated.
Answered by Tay and Maho
Tay - While i can understand your’s and other’s frustration. You have to understand that many adoptables out there that go over $1000 and sometimes even over $2000 are never given a separate image with them but many people find no issue with it or feel cheated. This may only be an issue with Maho because Maho put in the extra effort from the onset to give refs complimentary to her designs but was taken advantage of. So while other artists never started out giving refs, their members never feel cheated because they never had that opportunity to begin with. Maho did, so when she no longer gives them it was Maho who was at fault. It is done out of protection of her art, and to keep other users from using the full sized refs to scam others. Some people do have the idea that a full size art = ownership and someone who can come to own one or find the posted full size can sell to multiple people using the art as proof of ownership and scamming others (Happened in other communities already and becoming a trend). Rather than referring to the masterlist, and is very unsafe. One CS artist was being bullied into refunding those who were scammed because they thought the full refs meant the person could sell it to them but never checked the actual owner’s list to verify. The full sized ref = ownership idea is was probably the worst thing to put as the standard in the community in the first place and in the community in general and has been causing lots of issues with many CS creators. To avoid the same issues it was also implemented with our species to remove full sized refs. It’s the “Someone ruined it for everyone else” sort of deal and we apologize for that. If every member was perfect and respectful of the art this would have never happened. Another thing is Maho and her admins do not always receive more than 200$ for the adopts they make let alone 100$ at most. She does not believe in charging any more than 200$ autobid for her species because she still tries to maintain fairness and allows others that can’t even go over 25$ a chance to gain one of her species for free through hard work and fun events.
We have a master list that proves the ownership of who ever buys a certain design. Ive talked to many people of the community and most of them do not feel cheated over the recent events of not receiving files. In fact the majority understand why it happened, but as for you feeling cheated the most i can do is apologize for it and that no harm was meant by it. Also please know that as we are currently aware of only Maho is not giving out files to her adopts but the other admin still might with theirs. Just a bit of info, sorry for rambling ^^; Tried to get out as much info i knew to help out. Maho - I am willing to give out transparent files (Without BG, full size if the small batch ones since I post them at 50% size) if asked only. But it would be in my free time and not part of the design’s cost. It would be me doing it for free since the money I get from the design usually doesn’t even cover the cost of making it alone and time spent adding it to the master list, hours working to polish etc. Majority of my designs sell for less than 50 dollars and it takes me hours to do one design. From our perspective we feel that no one should say “I feel cheated” if they pay less than the work itself and expect even more for free. We don’t show how long it takes to design these so we know that outside our admin circle people don’t see all the background work we put into all this, especially if they do not run a species themself and realize that 99% of work (Admin, modding, item designing, programing, html, masterlist updating, rule making, tweeking and working to improve) all go unpaid. So I understand the frustration, but I don’t ever “Set stuff in stone” and I always am able to bend a bit for people who are willing to work with me and be patient. But the art is just complimentary (Me doing it for a good member) not owed to the designs anymore. I like using BGless refs myself from other species I own so I definitely understand and sometime in the future may find a way to post my designs in an appealing way that has no bg and is easy to crop if in a batch but still keeps some sort of small watermark.  And the tiny designs you speak of, mostly sell for 25 to 30 dollars a piece and are kept small to encourage people to make the price fair for those who cannot afford the larger sized more polished ones. So they can still get one of the species but more affordable. Think of it like fabric at a store, you get discounts if you get scraps or edge of fabric pieces. And give people who cannot afford the highest tier fabric cuts a chance to get fabric. I KNOW how it feels to be priced out of species and if I can make simple, easier and smaller designs to give less financially able people a chance at it I will give them that chance like I’d like from other species. And these designs can be drawn full size and much better at a later date to with YCHs, and rebase commissions by Myself or my admin. No one should feel stuck with tiny art when there are lots of ways to get them drawn, or even draw them yourself the size you’d like if you can. There are lots of options and I hope that our ramblings have helped in some way. People should understand both sides to this and that we are trying our best, and our best may not be the best for everyone. We do not force anyone to buy our designs, or force them to stay in the community and if refs is a deal breaker there are lots of species from really nice people who do give refs. But they may be pricier or harder to get into.Last note - Those who work for practically free when everything is calculated together and continue to work as hard as they can to create a community despite the cost/hours disparity I wouldn’t consider lazy. Lazy is not running a CS group in the first place and not having to work with strangers and avoid conflicts since you don’t get them by not doing anything.

Here’s a werewolf TF comic page proposal.
I hope its not TOO tacky to include your own art you did for yourself as refs but It thought it would be better to make this post pretty much a one stop package deal for everything because I don’t even know where you may have those I designed this so that later on, I could theoretically add more pages before or after this page in the future and eventually build a full comic out of it.
The scene would loosely be like the photo I included, but set at night. It can be dark with moon be moonlight coming in through the window and WITHOUT the blinds as that would further complicate the lighting.
It shouldn’t be exactly that scene, but I just wanted to establish the sort of scene based on my bedroom, mostly the paint of the room the backboard of the bed, dont worry about the posters or anything, and you can position the camera closer to him or at a slightly different angle, just whatever you need to show H from the navel level up to his head laying on the pillow.
I figured H pulled the sheets off his bed.
A shirtless is laying on a bed with his head on the pillows, unlike my other TF’s this is more traditional in the sense that this is actually painful and H is having a bad time, and there can be tears rolling down his face maybe. lets say he’s a character in a horror movie or something.
H is in the middle of transforming into a quadruped werewolf of similar shape and design as you gave to Myra in that “Julycanthropy” pic you did of her. His upper body from the navel up is fully transformed and furred (with brown fur) into a deep, broad, bestial shape with the shape of the ribs visible beneath the skin.
His face is still human (no muzzle) except that he has dark brown animal eyes, and large canine ears which are still unfurred, similar to halffox H’s ears, poking out from under his locs.
It gives the impression that his entire body has changed into a monsters but his head, face, arms, and hands are still trying to cling to their humanity.
In panel one, his hands start as being almost entirely human, but have clearly elongated a couple of inches between the wrist and where the fingers begin, but still with normal human looking fingers, nails, and palms.
The second panel has a “sweep” with a close up detail of his hands as they go to as being described above to being bestial paws clearly designed for standing running on all fours, with well developed (black) pawpads and black claws. PAGE ?? Panel 1 – A close up view from the navel up, H lays back on the pillows but not comfortably, in his extreme pain and physical exhaustion he’s too exhausted and weary to rise from bed, and all he can do is look down at his rapidly transforming body.
His chest and upper body is 100% transformed, given the impression of a nearly human head and arms attached the body of a huge, monstrous, furred beast.
His eyes are fully transformed and resemble the yellow eyes of that wolf you showed me a pictue of as reference (his fur is also the color of the wolf from that photo)
His ears are transforming and have grown the shape of fox-H’s ears from the piece posted above where he’s on all fours, but in this panel his ears are sticking out from beneath his hair, but are only about half the size as fox-H’s ears are in the afformentioned piece.
He raises his hands looking upon them as the begin to transform. One hand is still 100% normal and human, but the other has obviously elongated by two inches between his wrist and the end of his palm before the fingers, but still has normal fingers and palm. His hands and arms are unfurred. ****
Panel 2 – Four “frame” sweep with a simple BG, with a close up detail of H’s hands as they change, getting multiple angles as the change takes place:
A. Both of H’s hands are transformed to the level described in the first panel B. Both hands further elongate, and grow broader and “thicker”, with stubbier fingers, claws, and pawpads beginning to develop, along with a small amount of fur. C. H’s hands have morphed to a state resembling Myras in that sketch you did on Tumblr months back, clearly overwhelming paw like with fur having grown in significantly and spreading. D. H’s hands are fully developed and have properly transformed with the fur grown in, with the thumbs having become dewclaws, these things are like 95% like an actual wolf’s forepaws but have that slight humanlike residual element you like to give your werewolf’s forelimbs.
****
Panel 3 – (you can do a low detail “mini panel” if you need to in order to make this fit on the page) H, close up face, which is unfurred as before, but now with a wet “doggie nose to go with the ears (he still has no muzzle or snout yet) looks upon his transformed hands with horror, his forelimbs are fully furred up to his elbows, if those even make it into the frame.
His ears have grown 55% from the previous panel and are about 5% larger than H’s ears are in the half-fox H piece.

UPDATE: Bio revamp. Also I should probs draw him an outfit he wears when he goes into more “darker” route, I.E ends up being a “Villain” Jackrabbit.
Maybe there is a Vigilante bio sheet thing somewhere, I was too lazy to search for it hence I’m using the villain template and just editing it where necessary...
The character in the photo on the upper left is @glitchedskull‘s Naosu btw, who’s Saname’s BF
Rest of the bio below;
Age: around 13-14 when he first meets Ryuu and Kain.
Sexuality: pan
SANAME’S QUIRK EXPLAINED  (Pros in normal, cons in bold)
Quirk name: Acid-palm
He can burn and melt anything he touches at will with ease as if his hands were coated in acid. Saname can also control how slow or fast things corrode, and even what direction the corrosion heads very precisely.
He doesn’t have to keep touching the object to corrode it; after touching the effect will continue as he pre-planned it. He can also change the effect’s speed and direction after removing his hand as long as he has visual to it.
He can do anything from creating a tiny hole to melting away large walls fairly quickly.
Ironically, Saname is mostly immune to other acidic quirks and substances, just not his own.
If not careful, Saname can end up burning himself as sometimes a highly agitated state can cause his quirk to activate accidentally, and he’s not immune to his own touch. (hence the scars on his neck and over his eye)
Blocking his line of sight from what he’s touched makes him unable to change the way the corrosion happens if needed.
The effect of his acidic touch tends to weaken and move slower in colder weathers
FEW MORE FACTS
- Wasabi is good with melee-weapons like a staff or a pipe, and usually carries around one.
- He loves rabbits more than anything because his only toy as a child was a bunny plushie, one he still carries around and has a strong attachment to
- Ryuu is his favorite and he likes to stalk him around a lot each time Ryuu is around, this has led to problems too where he ends up in danger and the two have to save him. He finds Ryuu’s weird chilly crystal powers cool. (pun not intended)
- he has a slight phobia about collapsing buildings and fires due to what he went through as a child, having a flame hero - while fighting a villain - destroy his original home of sorts.
- Saname’s visible eye (the one with the palmprint scar) is discolored and lighter due to the injury he caused accidentally with his quirk when it first activated; he can still see with it thankfully, but it tends to get irritated easier than the other one. His “normal” eye is pure black and yellow. (I seem to have habit of drawing him in a way where you almost never see his uninjured eye heh.....)
- Saname as an adult mostly minds his own business, but due to the influence from his mothers and Ryuu and Kain) he tends to just act without thinking and doing what he thinks is right, even if its illegal. He never actively chose to be a vigilante like his other mum, its just kind of how he ended up due to his nature.
- His knee-pads in his Vigilante outfit are his lion mama Kei’s old ones from her outfit. His utility belt is also similar to her old one, just dark grey instead of brown.
PERSONALITY
As a child, Wasabi was very curious and easily excitable, getting in trouble a lot as a result. He had difficulty controlling his emotions due to his early childhood however, and was often aggressive, where he could snap from friendly to will-whack-you-with-a-stick in less than a second.
As a young adult, he’s much more chill and well-mannered, but still has bit of a childish goofiness to him which can lead to silly situations and generally makes people think he’s the “class-clown” or “airhead” type. He’s also learned to be more mindful of people’s boundaries, when as a kid he tended to easily get into people’s faces so to say, making things awkward and uncomfortable.
He can still get viciously mad in certain situations, but he no longer throws an uncontrollable fit; rather, he channels his anger in doing what he wants to do. During these times people can actually find this normally relaxed and happy-go-lucky (and a bit oblivious) chill dude really scary.
He can be distracted pretty easily, except when he’s in a fight; thanks to training from both his mum Kei, and an unconventional family friend of sorts Ryuu Katagiri, Saname tends to be laser focused during those, which makes him a dangerous opponent. He tends to shut out everything else then and focus on defeating whoever he is fighting.
BG STORY SUMMARY
Saname grew up in an orphanage initially on a more poor area of the city; he can’t really remember anything about his original parents, perhaps due to trauma of some sort; given his aversion to fire people suspect he might’ve been in a fire that killed his parents.
He was often bullied by other children and called weird because of his eyes, (he was the only one in that orphanage with “atypical” human eyes) difficult, easily triggered temper, and quirk that he struggled to control as a kid. (resulting in the scarring he has)
The orphanage gave him his name “Saname Wasabi,” because of his green hair and quirk. (and temper)
Then, the orphanage got destroyed accidentally in a fight in-between a hero (Endeavor) and a villain, with some of the staff and kids actually getting hurt in the process. Saname ended up running away amidst the chaos, frightened by the battle as the flames triggered his past unknown trauma.
Wandering around the city lost and scared, he eventually ran into a young woman named Rankure Hanekijo, who due to personal reasons decides to take the boy under her wing. Unfortunately, she had some bad people after her, forcing the two to flee outside the city, eventually ending up in a rural town where a local coffee-shop owner Kei Reidou - who turned out to have once been a vigilante - takes them in out of pity.
He ends up being unofficially adopted by the two women, who home-school him and he was even taught how to fight and better handle his quirk by Reidou. (This later led him to becoming a vigilante)
Later on, Wasabi meets an old acquaintance of his new mum, a young man named Kain, who has supposedly become a villain and is friends with a known one. Because the pair helps preventing his mothers from getting arrested by some government agents by distracting them and basically making them think the lead about a woman named Akiko Hinoteki (Kei’s original name and identity) was a false alarm, Wasabi deems the pair okay. He ends up developing a big brother - little brother like relationship with Ryuu, who grows fond of the boy despite initial grouchiness, even teaching him some fight moves.
While doing his vigilante things, probably due to Kain and Ryuu’s influence, Saname ended up occasionally going further than what probably would be necessary, in some cases full blown killing the criminal if he deemed them bad enough, or just beating people up worse than needed. This ended up creating a rumor of an evil doppleganger for his vigilante persona, perhaps especially because occasionally when he did this, he wasn’t wearing his vigilante garments.

UPDATE: Changed her quirk as it’s too similar to Kain’s in function.
About her ranking; It should honestly be D as she really isn’t that dangerous, but due to the reasons mentioned above, she’s ranked higher as people end up overestimating her power and stuff a lot.
Blank template
Rest of the bio below;
Age: 30 when she first met Wasabi and Kei, now 37
Sexuality: Lesbian
RANKURE’S QUIRK EXPLAINED:
(pros in normal, cons in bold)
Quirk name: SIREN’S SONG
Rankure can hum a song or emit a sound that allows her to soothe/disorient/sedate/mildly coax people into doing what she wants. She can even make them puke if emitting a higher pitch sound. She can either use it by having people hear the said sound or a song, or touch the person she wants to influence
While the song or a hum is obviously audible, the emitted sound tends to be difficult for humans to consciously pick up as it is typically at the very edge of their hearing range. Animals can usually hear it clearly, though.
She can start emitting this hypnotic sound even when just talking normally, and it can be really difficult for the listener to notice it until its too late. The effect lasts for as long as the person hears the sound, or until she touches them again to end it.
More strong-willed people tend to be harder to influence by default, and snap out of it quicker.
She can actually make herself nauseous when using the high-pitch technique, unfortunately not immune to this aspect of her own quirk
People who are completely deaf are naturally immune to her quirk, unless she touches them.
OTHER ABILITIES
Her mutation naturally gives her the ability to fly, and she has a fairly strong grip in her feet if she needs to. Rankure’s eagle-like talons are also quite sharp and useful weapons if necessary.
FEW MORE FACTS:
- Rankure tends to be the one who tries to cheer people up when they’re down, though she can go overboard and make them feel awkward
- her close ones tend to call her “Ran” for the most part, except Wasabi who usually calls her “bird-mama”
- Rankure is willing to go very far to protect her family members, sometimes even forgetting about her usual cautiousness over her glaring weaknesses, which can result in her getting hurt pretty badly.
- She is sneaky and curious, and often snoops into things that don’t really belong to her, which can be bit of a headache to her partner.
-  Her name basically means “orchid nightfall” (Rankure) and winged witch (Hanekijo) If I understood everything correctly. Japanese is tricky.
- She’s actually pretty weak, but has an insane amount of luck hence people often think she’s more competent and dangerous than she actually is
BG STORY:
Rankure was kind of a problem child of their family, hanging in the wrong crowds a lot and getting in trouble. She just was always curious and easily excited, let alone her naivety, making her easy to trick into doing things that could land her in hot water. However, despite everything she was always supported by her big brother Higure (name meaning twilight/Dusk) who always tried his best to help her out of trouble. The two siblings had always been close, ever since they were kids.
Once she heard that her big brother would be becoming a father, Rankure wanted to clean up her act to become the best aunt possible, and actually managed quite well for several months, even getting herself a proper job at a local restaurant as a waitress. Unfortunately, her brother and his wife died on a car-crash while on the way to the hospital to give birth.
She took the loss hard, and ended up going back to her old ways, becoming even more reckless than she was, gaining a criminal record. her parents cut her off as a “lost-cause” leaving her feeling alone and isolated.
Then, she ran into a lost, alone child who seemed to be in bad shape, and being reminded of what she lost, Rankure decided to take the boy under her wing - figuratively and literally. The boy’s name was Saname Wasabi.
At first the duo managed pretty well, but then people who were after the boy for apparently killing their comrades in a mental breakdown moment, Rankure had to flee with the boy. It did not help when the thugs decided to contact folks that already had beef with her.
Eventually though, the two end up being saved by a woman named Kei Reidou, who manages to get the bastards off their back by sheer intimidation, and the sleepy lady carpenter allows the pair to stay with her for a while. Rankure ends up crushing on her almost instantly, but was initially unsure if this would work out, given how volatile Saname still was.
She is taken by surprise however, as Kei reveals to her she’d dealt with children with such quirk-related problems before. Eventually, Saname and Rankure end up living with her permanently, as both the boy and her grow fond of the tired, grouchy, but goodhearted woman.
