i did these for the older teens a little while ago and then was like omg i never did the kids!!! this is the link to the picrew i used for them

all the pins and stuff below are basically just my personal head canons

1. Dustin - i normally headcanon dustin as just unlabelled but that wasn’t an available pin so my second idea is always pan. also he gets the frog because when he found dart he thought he was a type of amphibian or something

2. Max - look they have two hands, one for lucas and the other for el. i feel like the glasses and walking aid are pretty self explanatory after v*cna.

3. Mike - as much as i love bi mike wheeler in my mind that boy is gay. he’s also rocking the ripped jeans because eddie rocks the ripped jeans so mike continues to copy him.

4. Erica - her favourite colour has been and always will be pink but also because she is such a badass she gets the knife :)

5. Will - gave him the little shorts because he’s always walking around in the iconic 80’s short-shorts lol. also his books are totally sketch books

6. Lucas - the coca cola scene from S3 was so funny so that’s why he’s got the drinks and doing sports makes you thirsty so it’s a win win. (i have never played sports a day in my life just fyi)

7. El - i think El would still love to rock the overalls like in S2. I also think they would love nature because it’s so unlike the lab and i think she would love the colour purple hence the purple flowers in their hair.

Will and El have the same haircut because as much as i love joyce someone needs to take those scissors away from her

Do you see a coming out scene for both Will and Mike happening in S5?

I, personally, really can't see canon-Mike coming out to anyone at this point in the story, tbh. Not to Lucas or Dustin, not even to his mom. He has A LOT of work to do when it comes to accepting his sexuality, I think (definitely more than Will). My prediction is that he'll end the show unlabeled (which I don't see as a bad thing at all).

Will coming out to Joyce and Jonathan feels like such an important part of his story, that it just has to happen on screen, yk. Specially after the SBP jonwill scene. He now knows that he's got Jonathan as a safety net, not matter what Joyce's reaction could be (which would be that of absolute love and acceptance, obv), and I think that could give him that push of confidence to do it.

This is a good question anon that to be honest, I don't know if I have the "correct" answer for. So I'm just gonna talk a lot of my thoughts out loud to kind of answer your question and also kinda of not answer your question.

So for starters, I don't necessarily think that a coming out scene is a necessity to still have a fulfilling queer story, nor is one necessary to label a characters identity. For example, people were complaining that Will didn't have a coming out scene in season 4, and didn't consider it canon that he was gay even though we as the audience still knew it, and there wasn't any appropriate moment for him to come out that would have made sense with where his character is right now. So, I do think that the show is still going to label Mike's sexuality, even if it's not spoken out loud.

But at the same time, would a verbal affirmation of their sexualities be so bad?

I agree that Mike may not be fully ready for verbal statement, and that is okay. And okay, maybe I have been too hard on the Wheelers in the past. I do think that they seem to be turning a corner, although part of changing means that they did have to change from somewhere, and maybe Mike's knowledge of his parents past beliefs might make him reasonably hesitant to come out. But I also can't act like a scene of Mike coming out wouldn't make me very emotional, and same with Will.

For Will I do think it is a lot more probable than Mike, like what you said. I can imagine Will coming out to Joyce, which would be more for Will to feel comfortable expressing his sexuality than it is for Joyce to learn, as I think she probably already suspects her son is gay. The idea of Will saying “I’m gay” makes me 🥹🥹🥹

So I guess it all comes down to how they do it. I’d like their coming out scenes, if they get any, to make sense with the characters that the show has established. If Mike comes to a point where he feels comfortable enough to come out to his mom, then I’d like to see the steps that both Mike AND Karen go through to get that point, in order for it to be believable in universe. But if they do that, then I’d love to see it!

I'm from Minnesota / Wisconsin, USA. Yes it's cold and I'm not a fan. I'll wear all black and lay out like a lizard when it's +90F outside. Trying to store the warmth like a god damn solar battery.

My only sibling is my brother who's 15 years younger than me. We have nothing in common beyond both being queer (and even that's not the same). He is the other half of my soul.

I'm an amateur florist. I do all of my friends and families weddings for free. It's my "What if everyone got paid a living wage and I wasn't enslaved to capitalism" dream

I love punk and metal music, but I also listen to classical, movie scores, blues, and alternative indie pop. I discover bands super late, way after they're famous. So late it's embarrassing lol

Out of all the pop culture nerd geek shit I get hyperfixated on, I'm weirdly obsessed with F1 right now. Drive to Survive on Netflix hooked the shit out of me and now my partner has to listen to me bitch about driver trades, team dynamics, and proper tire selection. I love him for it.

I'm learning embroidery!! I'm trying to make my own heat-on patches so I can start making my own battle vest and I'm so excited about it. I've got like five different denim jackets to practice on.

My dreams are weird and intense. Usually they're about whatever I'm in to at the moment, or some amalgamation of insanity. I've considered turning some of them into stories, like my spicy dreams into reader insert fics. I used to write a lot of horror based on my nightmares and they were always my best stories.

I'm scared shitless to write. I used to write all the time in high school and early college. My mom still tells me she's disappointed I got a Biology degree instead of Creative Writing and editing. So here I am, writing Steddie fics in secret. Proving to myself I can enjoy doing something I used to love without all the pressure of doing it well or holding myself to the idealized version of potential my mom has built me up to be. I'm just out here doing it for me. I'm publishing it. And it doesn't have to be good. It's just about me enjoying myself!

Will: Gay (because it's canon now) and maybe demi too? Idk I waver on it sometimes but I definitely think he could be aspec

Mike: Personally, I'm a gay Mike truther, but I really like/am open to other headcanons, and if people headcanon him as bi/pan/unlabeled that's totally cool as well! Part of it is kind of a personal thing, too, since I'm gay and I relate to him a lot. I also really like the demiromantic Mike headcanon, I think it fits!

Lucas: Bi Lucas, that's the the post

Max: I used to think Max was a lesbian before s4, since I didn't ship Lumax a lot (heinous crime I know /gen, lh) but now I definitely think she's bi as well, and probably non-binary or transmasc in some form. Lumax is 100% a bi couple and I will die on this hill

El: Ironically enough, I sort of went through the reverse thought process for El that I did for Max- before s4 I thought she was bi, but now I'm a lesbian El truther all the way. I also hc her as aspec in some form, I think it really fits for her character.

Dustin: Asexual biromatic. Everyone keeps saying that Dustin's the ally, but that isn't true. Everyone in the party is queer fight me-

Steve: Aroace because I said so

having weird mixed hyperfixation hours so i raise all of the following random thoughts

-they/them nonbianary inej who sees their freedom from gender as a way to reclaim who they are as a person

-eddie munson does drag and his drag name is “Queen Stevie”. steve thinks it’s hilarious and loves it

-kaz brekker uses he/they pronouns, is transmasc, and is demiacearo achillean. yes this is a headcanon and not me projecting shut up /silly

-kaz brekker actually had feelings for jesper at one point, but those feelings ended up being replaced with inej due to them feeling a lot safer to love with the way they both don’t like touch, and so it felt more attainable to kaz

-leo valdez is ace/aro romance positive and i could write a whole essay on why this makes sense i swear

-in wings of fire there are no such thing as “lgbtq+” or queer labels because it’s so normal that it’s not considered different to be trans or queer. they literally do not know how to conceptualize it being considered atypical

-dustin henderson is bisexual and would have been happier with lucas than suzie (it’s just my opinion ok shh 😭)

-eleven is pan, max is bi, lucas is unlabelled (all of them are kind of polyam to me idk)

-el and max are both nonbianary both use neos and they/them, max also still uses she/her

-transmasc steve. i do not see enough of him. transmasc he/vamp eddie as well.

mike: umm ik there r a lot of conflicting opinions on this but to me mike is like unlabeled/queer? 100% he struggles w a lot of comphet but idk i feel like his Thing is less about liking women or men (but he Does like men for sure) and more about just having been head over heels for will byers his whole life and being too lost in the comphet to see that. or maybe this is just me projecting as the #1 mike wheeler kinnie Ever (wrote 36k projecting onto him abt this exact thing so .)

el: lesbian ! except for when elumax is in question then she’s pan 100%

well will is canonically gay and im a firm believer in gay mike but also will is demiromantic. i think el is probably a lesbian but she’s also only been out of the lab for a few years so i think she’s unlabeled while she figures herself out!! or jumps between every label Ever. lucas is hella bisexual. the most bisexual man to ever bisexual. that post about him and mike playing gay chicken? canon. dustin henderson is the straightest ally but he’s so supportive and gets into the science behind queerness. the kinda guy to watch the outsiders once and not see the queerness but then watch it back after learning and be like 🤨 that seemed a bit fruity. max is also bisexual with a preference for women but lucas is lucas so how could she not fall in love with him

Eddie - gay and genderqueer

Chrissy - lesbian and nonbinary

Eddie and Chrissy kinda have mlm and wlw solidarity vibes, but I also feel like neither of them are cis soooo

max mayfield is a butch bisexual bigender skategender transmasc with adhd and ptsd. zoom uses he/they/zoom pronouns. they're dating el and lucas.

jo byers is a butch bigender bisexual trans woman with ptsd, depression, anxiety, and autism. she uses she/her or he/him but prefers she/her. she's dating steve and nancy. (jo is jonathan just tbc, someone once thought i was talking about joyce here).

nancy wheeler is a cis femme finalgirlic lesbian with ptsd who uses she/her. she's dating jo and robin.

steve harrington is a GNC unlabeled person with ptsd who is dating jo and eddie, and is in a qpr with robin. he uses he/him and may use more pronouns in the future as he figures things out.

eddie munson is a tieflinggender alloaro gay girlboy girlthing who uses she/it/he pronouns in order of preference. it's dating steve.

robin buckley is a transneutral butch (canonical) lesbian with tourette's who is dating nancy and is in a qpr with steve.
