Well "ship" usually refers to head-cannoning/wanting two characters to be romantically involved. Even if they are not in canon. Blue and Seafoam aren't a ship, they just are.. well, together. Its written into the canon that they are together. So its not a ship and its feels a lot different than a ship would..

As for Peach and Mario, a quick google search says they are canonically mutually romantically interested in each other. Same with Luigi and Daisy. I only tagged my posts as "Mario x Peach" and "Luigi x Daisy".. because that's what people search for when they wanted to see romantic content of those characters-

And even if google straight up lied/is wrong and it turns out not to be confirmed? Those two pairings are so strongly suggested/implied in canon, that I don't get any of negative feelings I associate with ships.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I just don't like ships. It really isn't my thing for a lot of reasons. There's a loooot of not great feelings associated with them. None of my own characters make me feel that way becuase I created them. And their relationships are written into the story..

And the Mario pairings are canon. Or at the very least, they are soooo strongly implied, that I don't get any of the negative feelings associate with ships even if they weren't canonically a thing.. I hope that made sense..?

Ah yes the team with the man i spent money on.... this man i swear.

He gets along quite nicely with everyone, their like a well oiled machine. On downtimes he talks with Xingqiu about various books mostly about the creator and her ideals, discussing various topics with Shinobu and asking the Traveller about the creator and their traits.

What do i think of their grace? Well from the short while ive been with her she is quite the artist. Had i known that i would be blessed by her after becoming the acting grand sage, i would have searched up all the known records the academiya has. Maybe i should ask the Traveller and Lesser Lord Kusanali for more information.

What's on the table? Well it's all the records and information we have on her grace. Being the Acting Grand Sage has its perks after all, anyways do you have some time to help me sift through these things? I need any and every bit of information you have on her. Despite no longer being a shrine maiden she still remembers the rituals and ceremonies held for the creator, often prays for herself and the arataki gang. She gets along well with the others and shares the information about various ceremonies held in Inazuma for the creator.

She's really fun to play tbh, im still building her but ther heals and electro make Al Haitham so effective.

O- oh hey what's up did Itto amd the others cause trouble? Just checking up on me, alright i just finished praying to her grace. She's helped me and the gang in our toughest times, so i always give her my thanks.

Lady Guuji, called for me the other day looks like she wants me to be apart of this celebration for her grace. Apparently since I'm one of her blessed. Lady Ayaka will lead the sacrifice because she is the main vessel of her grace, they've already picked out a sacrifice, a white rabbit and a snake. I hope their grace is happy with this.

I am literally SO TIRED of Westerners in all social media but also in the destiel meme here the comments are full of "why are they so ass backwards? Djdjfjfjfjfjfur like. Literally. Im gonna make this about italy because ive seen this a l9t about italy as well but the fact that we sometimes get a breakthrough international artist cishet man who wears makeup does not mean thats the norm anymore than lil nas x's existence means glitter is the norm for American black men.

The fact that italian soccer fans full on jump on each other after a goal or cry openly when their team wins does not mean that they would not beat the SHIT of any kid in their vicinity who does not perform gender correctly. Like the whole "men cannot have feelings or touch each other" thing is a Puritan/Protestant neurosis that they project without realising. Gender performance looks different but that doesn't mean that it isn't strictly enforced. I know kids who stopped washing after doing sports because the other kids on their team called them gay for wanting to not smell. I remember this whole lithany by a Southern Italian author of things that get you called a slur in his culture which included "not putting super spicy pepper oil on your pizza" and "using an hair-dryer". And yet tons of people just accepted idk James Somerton talking about how Italy was full of gay men longing for nothing more than banging British kids on the grand tour... But it was just taken at face value until someone actually sat down and considered his pattern of making up shit on the whole.

And like. As usual Greece gets a whole lot of this as well only even worse because people usually have some notion of the Catholic Church and the Italian middle ages being a thing but the Orthodox Church straight up does not exist in their mind. Like Greece went from Ancient to Today in some sort of time capsule I guess. And that's not even touching the misconceptions about ancient Greece as yaoi paradise

ty for the tag @unpredictable-probabilities! I don't usually do tag things but I'm feeling an exception today and I want to ramble lol let's GO!!

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

Right now, 51! I think i started using ao3 back in college with rvb fic lol. I've since orphaned 2 fics so I guess there wouldve been 53.

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

86,956

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Right now, mostly just Twisted Wonderland (and the occasional dndads, I still have a fic in my brain I kinda wanna write for that). Twst was kinda my comeback to wanting to write fics and has been my main inspiration for a lot of things and it's been the most fun i've had writing fics I think, and it's eventually what's gotten me to try to write my first multi chapter fic.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

hmmm I do not write much angst, and even when I do it's more hurt/comfort, bc permasads make ME permasad. I think it was my rvb fic "forgotten" - which i always forget was my first fic uploaded to ao3 LOL, back in 2015. ironic that my first wasnt reflective of the tone i usually write for. i don't wanna reread it to check [even tho my fics from back then are WAY shorter] bc im scared to face how i wrote when i was fresh outta hs lol BUT if i remember correctly/based on the summary, it was a doc/donut fic and I think it was about how after doc had disappeared from the future cube or whatever in canon and no one knew he was gone, i wrote a scene of doc getting upset with donut bc Of All People Why Didnt You Notice I Thought I Meant Something To You 😔 kdlsjfkdlsj i think it ended with doc walking off and donut being SAD and idk maybe they broke up, idr if they were 'officially dating' in the context of that fic. but um hashtag docnut for life.

most all of my fics are happy endings with an exception of like one ^ or two lol. I don't know if i can quantify those!

not to my face if I do lol. I don't think enough people know about me to give a shit if i do stuff they dont like

nope!!!! i dont really like smut personally and it's not the kind of genre i have story ideas for.

girl help i cannot choose. um. well first shout out again to rvb's docnut bc u will always be strong and married in my heart. and in dndads im an oakworthy truther til i die BUT for twst. twst beloved twst i am in that pitfall of i like 50000 different ships. jamiazu is the one i write and draw the most LOL and theyre def a top fave HOWEVER. god. treycater alters my brain chemistry. rookvil marriage real. adeuce beloved fool duo for life. im physically restraining myself from mentioning more KLFJDSKLFJS especially when we get into the multiship/poly web bc god we will be here all day. i can and will be enabled but this post is already long enough GOODBYE!!!!

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

oooh ok well there was a dndads oakworthy thing I started like last year but pretty soon after I started it, we started seeing more of hermies forbidden other 'true' personality traits and i was like ruh roh this guy keeps pulling a fast one on me, i dont think the direction i had with this fic is fitting anymore. i had barely gotten anywhere with it and it wouldve been short anyway, but i think about what couldve been.... lololol and then for TWST umm. Hehe. Teehee even. Back during nanowrimo I used that as time to start 2 fics: kalim and the great relationship rescue, which is my current multichap fic about kalisil and jamiazu, it’s got about 3 chapters, and I’m still writing it. AND IM STILL GOING TO FINISH THAT ONE!!! but the OTHER one I started during that time and have NOT posted any of it yet was the stuff with my first twst oc, Char, and his place in my big caterella multiverse ideas lol. I’ve posted a bit about that story idea and done a lot of doodles and brianstorming for it, but I fear it would be too intimidatingly ambitious to stick to and I’m not sure writing one concrete fic is the right medium for it 🤔 plus I just don’t think many people would like it much LOL it would be very self indulgent and tapping into my soap opera brain. I feel nervous when I talk about it HAHDBFNTG so I’m not sure I could commit. But I still have what I wrote, and maybe I’ll figure out another way to go with it or maybe I’ll just wake up one day and say WHATEVER and write it anyway lol. I’ve gotten shyer again so we’ll see 🧍

16. What are your writing strengths?

umm. i do not know if it is a strength but i feel more light comedy and dialogue come more 'naturally' to me, but i do not know how well i actually can pull it off LOL also shorter, contained stories. Everything I write is a one shot, and I’m struggling on my recent attempt at a multiple chapter fic BDBFFBFNGD

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

hrhrnrngm more descriptive writing, i find im in the pitfalls of writing TOO MUCH dialogue. and i also feel like when i try to do more serious tone things it comes off as cringe or trying too hard kFDKLSHFLDSJ. no one's said that to me but yknow. fear and whatnot. also ending the story is. Hard. I feel like that’s always a weak part of my fics bc I sit there like WELL I WROTE ALL MY IDEAS HOW DO I WRAP THIS UP…. I worry my endings come off kind of half assed but I do my best lol 😔✌️

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

like are you asking if i would do it? or how i feel when it's done in fics i read? i dunno lol. i could maybe do spanish bc ive studied it a lot but i'd get nervous i think.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

on ao3 it was rvb bu teeeechnically back in my neoseeker forums days i was in there writing like, animal crossing or harvest moon or pokemon stuff. it was very bad bc i was like 10 years old LOL

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

ohoho ummmm. Well I always have fun writing jamiazu and I’ve written a LOT of those lol. I have a soft spot for The Comfort of Familiarity. That’s one of the ones hats taken me the longest to write because I was really trying hard to handle it with care, as it was a less light tone than I typically do and I was trying to explore the characters and their situation in a particular way that I really wanted to come across well with who reads it. It was hard, and I’m not sure I fully got there, but ultimately I did like it quite a a bit. on the flipside, one of my more recent fics and I think now my longest oneshot to date, Blue Raspberry Mango was VERY fun to write lol. That one’s a lot more like what I typically write, silly romcom style lmao. Cater and Idia goofing, characters bickering, friendship, me trying to sneak in as many side ships into the background for funsies, jamiazu is there, it was a good time. And that one started as a prompt suggestion which I feel like often times I end up struggling with and not delivering super well… but this one ran away from me and I had a blast lol. Idikei fixed me 😌✌️

Oh yeah remember that one post i made about that forbidden testing tracks mod before it came out a while ago

I have decided that I am gonna be this mod's strongest soldier because some people out there are being mean about this mod when there was clearly a lot of passion behind it and it really seems to be someone's first mod ever and like, i do really hope that we get to see new things from the creator in the future because i do see a lot of potential in the mod

Putting my thoughts over the mod in detail under the cut

Personally, I do think that this mod's main issue was that it tried to be way too much at the same time

Which, as someone who likes writing for myself from time to time, I get it. Sometimes you kind of just write something so ambitious that you later realize that its so big for you that you wont be able to manage to get yourself to complete it

The mod has A LOT of mechanics, and I mean A LOT. While I have never had the chance to learn how to build puzzles in portal since my pc is currently not working, I do know a little bit about level design since I am interested in the topic, and also because I do also like messing around on custom level editors whenever I can which was the thing that made me feel interested on level design lol (i really love seeing video essays about gameplay mechanics whenever i can because i do find that very fascinating but that's not the point i am trying to make right now)

Forbidden testing tracks does have lots of mechanics, several multiple types of guns, a dimensional traveling portal sort of, i think, sparks you can jump on, explosive cubes, hell it even has a test room that rotates itself

When you put it out in paper like that it sounds amazing

But the thing is, I can't get myself to mention all of these mechanics, and that's the thing

The mod has so many mechanics, that it is difficult for the player to process all of these new things at the same time

Some of these mechanics appear only once or twice only to not be used ever again

I do think, that whenever you add a new mechanic to a game of any genre, you need to let the player have the chance to process it, learn it, and mess around with it until they get the hang out of it

Let's take a look at the first portal game for example

Im not gonna go into detail about all of the mechanics and how the entire game is constructed because that would be exhausting and too long to write, but I do want to point out the introduction of the portal mechanics

At the very start of the game, we do see the first portal in the game, which we need to use to get out of chell's relaxation vault

We don't have the portal gun in our hands yet, and for a person trying to play for the first time it would be overwhelming to get the gun with both the orange and blue portals at the same time, so the game lets the player get through one portal to walk through to get to the outside of the relaxation vault

And then the player is able to process the main mechanic of the game in that way, you get through one portal and you come out to the other one

There are other tests that do a similar thing to get the player to be used to the portal mechanics and the portal gun

like the test we get after the first one and the test we use to learn how to use the portals to reach higher places, so we can get to learn about stuff like learning where to place portals, how to move around and how do portals work in general, all before we get the two portal gun thing so it can be easier to process for a regular player

(sorry if i am not explaining myself correctly 😭😭😭)

I do think that the mod could benefit itself by focusing on one or two mechanics, like some other mods out there like Aperture tag and Portal Reloaded, who do focus on the gel gun and the time travel mechanics respectively

And speaking of adding way too much, I do think the writing does also suffer from this in a way

So there's this core called SAIC (which is honestly the best part out of the entire mod in my opinion)

I think that the voice acting for him is very good, and I personally Do love his animations as well

When I first saw the trailer I was very excited to see this core in particular, because his lines were delivered very well and I was excited to see more of him in general

but unfortunately, he didn't really get too much dialogue

Yeah, there is this section at the second chapter where we grab him for a bit, but he really just says two small dialogues at the start and at the end

After we meet him, we kind of just hold him for a bit and he doesn't say anything while we walk until we get at his management rail

The game does have a couple walking sections which can feel empty sometimes

I think the game would have benefited from small dialogues through the way while walking these long ways, along with solving some small puzzles outside of the main test chambers, something like the start of portal stories mel with the old aperture which had the player exploring the place without it feeling too lonely thanks to the recordings and later also virgil along the way so the player doesn't feel too lost

There are many things that come off as out of context, we don't really know about SAIC's motivations as far as I can remember and the first half of the game feels very empty, because there's nothing to guide you or give you context

Maybe someone could think that the creator didn't leave too many recordings so the player could feel lonely, but sincerely it is very possible to have a game full of dialogue along the way which also makes you feel isolated, and Portal 1's atmosphere along with GLaDOS having lots of dialogue through every chamber proves it

So while we have the first part of the game being completely empty and out of context, then we have the second half of the game which is overwhelming.

So, let me try to describe it

A lot of nothing happened, i THINK that SAIC was trying to get us to escape, and then GLaDOS catches the player or something and then SAIC apparently dies. And then Wheatley takes over the facility because TURNS OUT that the whole thing is happening at the same time of portal 2

Then things happen i guess and the player just keeps testing because i forgot why, then something happens and we are at the moon and apparently cave johnson is alive and then turns out SAIC's death was a fakeout, and then there's something about Rachel Johnson twin sister of chell because of a something failure???? And then i think everyone just decides to destroy aperture at the end

Just like some of these mechanics out there, there are so many things in the story coming out of nowhere (along with some of these way too into the headcannon territory) that feel out of context, and overwhelming, and then there are some elements which are not used enough or just appear once or twice to not be seen ever again, like SAIC, for example

His voice feels nice to listen to, and I feel like the mod would have benefited itself by having more dialogue and exploring his character with small stuff like him peeping in to say a couple things and adding random comments even if it's just something like a "so... What's your name?" "Hey hey, over here!" Or anything like that

He genuinely should have gotten more screen time, the way his lines were delivered was very nice to hear even if his dialogue was short and the writing could get nonsensical

I think SAIC has the potential to be just impactful as Wheatley if handled correctly, but unfortunately he was set aside even if he was supposed to be one of the main characters because the mod itself was trying to add way too much at the same time, which didn't allow the player to get attached to the story

I think the creator just. Added so much that they couldn't focus on the details of the story

which is understandable because I myself had a couple original stories that never saw the light of the day for the same reason

I realized on the hard way that I was biting off way more than I can chew, because i kept adding more and more, to the point i either had so many characters with no purpose or i couldn't get to work on details because there was too much to work on

So yeah, I do think that sometimes less is more in creative projects, you don't need to be the next super big project immediately, just focus on the essentials and then add the final details later. Try to know the size of your project and keep it in mind, because even short things can be very enjoyable and memorable to experience

With that aside, there's only one question left that I do want to answer

Why

Why do I like this mod so much? What do I see in it for me to call myself the #1 fan of PFTT despite everyone disliking it? Why am I taking the time to write a long essay about a mod that probably no one else aside from me might even like?

Well, I'm pretty sure you have noticed me repeating this one specific word through the whole essay so far:

Potential.

Yeah, the mod is messy both story and gameplay wise, but I think that the mod does have a lot of effort and passion put behind it

I seriously hope that the creator is not gonna end up stopping with doing more content after feeling discouraged by the reactions of all these people

Because I do think that this developer could create for example, the next portal stories mel, or the next aperture tag in the future

Because even if it is very flawed, I think the mod does have it's charm regardless

Yes, it was surreal to watch, it made no sense sometimes, it had lots of things coming out of nowhere, and some other couple things

But I had a good time watching it

I absolutely love SAIC, and when I saw the trailer I KNEW that he would be one of my favourite characters once the mod came out, and I was right

Even if the mod was nothing like what I have expected

I had lots of fun while watching this mod, and sincerely I do wish I was able to play it despite everything

Because it seems like something you could get on a call with a couple friends and talk about it

And ironically even if I can't remember the story, waiting for the mod once the trailer came out, and later watching this mod on a stream through one sitting was one of the most memorable things i could have experienced

I can't stop thinking about SAIC, even if he didn't appear as much as I hoped he would, and even if he didn't have that much time to shine, he has left an impact on me despite everything

When i saw this line in the ending screen while seeing other people's reactions it absolutely broke my heart

I do want to wish lots of luck to the creator, and I genuinely hope to see what they create in the future

And I hope people are gonna be kind to this new creator, because I can tell that this mod clearly had a lot of passion and love behind it

Now, Lastly I do want to apologize if there's anything i have not worded correctly, since English is not my first language

And with that aside, I am gonna end this essay right here (unless there's anything i forgot to mention that i want to edit in the future aha)

Well, here are some things I've been doing since I created my blog 5 months ago! ^^

Consistency is key. We hear that a lot, but it's true. Keeping your followers engaged and giving them things to look forward to is always good, sometimes even posting small drabbles or screenshots of things you're writing can guarantee more people will be interested.

Don't be afraid to comment or like other author's works! Not for growing a platform, but having mutuals in this community is always something nice that'll keep you inspired, and having friends who also write can be very encouraging.

Tag your works correctly! Whether it's trigger warnings or regular tags, it's always important to add the respective tags. For example, if you're writing a Simon Riley x Fem!Reader fic, always add that to the tags! Don't be afraid to explore and make your own tags, back when I used to read other author's work I sometimes noticed how some of them weren't even tagged— which, if you want more people to find your fanfics, it's a huge step of the way.

Always use proper grammar and punctuation! Seeing dialogues with poor grammar and mistakes are a turn-off for plenty of readers, so always make sure to expand your vocabulary and explore new writing styles that'll help readers stay interested.

If you're writing ''x Reader'' fics, it's important not to describe the reader physically to make sure everyone is included as much as possible. More people will read your works if you're inclusive, so avoiding describing the reader physically will help you gain more traction.

And that's it! I think my case is pretty particular since my first 2 published fics went sort of viral and they have over 14k notes each (Simon Riley and König Sex Pollen), which kind of became my trademark in the community and helped me grow very fast.

It's also important to realize that everyone's growth is different! Back in peak hyperfixation I used to post 2-5 fics a day and I was gaining 100+ followers a day. It took a while to get to that, and I still remember being excited when I gained my first 15 followers!! It can be a long process, but it's really worth it.

It's also important to note that I'm not an advisor or a professional writer in any way, I only started writing again after years when I created my blog, but those were some of the things that helped me gain 8k+ followers in 5 months! :)

What made you ship it?: Honestly. i think we've shipped it for literal ages but the only reason we started being an Active shipper of revghost is because of two headmates (mars (revivebur) and mercury (ghostbur)) being absolute FAGS so we just kind of embraced it What are your favorite things about the ship?: I love how they compliment each other in opposite ways. The easiest way to describe it is like Complimentary colours. A sharp red to a soothing blue. They're so different but they work perfectly together. I like how they would have complications due to Ghostbur hearing so much about the bad things Alivebur did (and very little of the good, if i'm recalling lore correctly) he would probably not have such a great idea on what Alivebur was even actually like. But in my personal hc (and fictive source memories) i feel that when Ghostbur actually met Alivebur in limbo he might have gotten to see what made Alivebur even do all that shit. He'd understand. Ghostbur would give Alivebur the patience and respect he'd needed. And Alivebur probably wouldn't have liked Ghostbur at first, maybe he would have been hostile or rude to him, but Alivebur would have realized that Ghostbur would not have been out to get him, like he had assumed everyone was. I don't know. They're kind of silly to me Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?: I don't have any unpopular opinions i can think of off the top of my head so i'll just say they fucked in that train station

What made you ship it?: I'm gonna have to blame the headmates again. q!Jaiden and q!Baghera fictives fell in love and well now we're collectively insane about canon Jaihera What are your favourite things about the ship?: MAN I DON'T. EVEN KNOW HOW TO WORD IT. I can barely focus on any qsmp lore so this might not be as long since i literally have no idea whats happening ever. Anyways They're the sun and the moon and they're each others' stars. When they met they were immediately attached to each other and, assuming i've remembered the lore properly, they grew up as literal child experiments together. They've bonded. They've literally had to go through the Horrors that is QSMP Purgatory together. They've gone through so much and they've stuck together, of course minus the fact q!Baghs has been missing for.. quite a few weeks now. I'm really excited to see them reunite when Baghera comes back to qsmp, and when QSMP comes back in general. They've got a similar-adjacent? trope of Complimenting each other like opposite colours, but it's more of a Soft yellow compared to a deep purple. They've got the same wants and needs and they work together to get it. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?: i think the ship itself is an unpopular opinion. it's like me and 5 other people who ship it and im like the only /r jaihera shipper

I was honestly just going to ignore Dia's post, but okay. Let's see if I can satiate your curiosity.

First, I should apologize for the misgendering. I tend to use they/them to refer to the whole system. (Because my issues with Dia extend to much of the system and I'm holding the system as a whole accountable.) I was aware that Dia uses it/its pronouns itself, but if this was a mistake and these pronouns are supposed to apply to the whole system then I apologize.

Since you're out of the loop, let me try to sum up some past events. Dia (and other members of the system) often behaves as an attention-seeking troll. Almost a year ago, Dia was making a callout document with a few pro-endos, including myself and @queerautism. (The blog was called "Dramatic Syscourse" and true to its name, seemed to be intended to stir up drama.) Neither of us really cared. Another party did, and one of the headmates asked that Dia not mention their name because they were afraid of harassment.

Dia didn't merely refuse. Dia mocked them and fakeclaimed them, literally telling them that they "weren't real." It was one of the most disgusting exchanges I've ever witnessed on this site.

Later, Dia and friends went after Queerautism again, attacking Queerautism for... having a separate 18+ blog, I think? Somehow, this ended up leading to an argument over whether kink should be allowed at Pride.

Multiple members of Dia's system made references to physically assaulting people displaying kinks. And to be clear, I'm not even talking things that are overtly sexual. The main point of contention with Dia and friends seemed to be a picture of a guy in a dog costume who, while perhaps not fully clothed, wasn't anymore undressed than one might be at a beach.

There was a heavy "think of the children" argument there as if kids are going to see anything sexual about a guy dressed as a dog.

Dia even allowed one of the system's littles to get involved in this discussion about kinks at pride, and the little threatened to bite anyone they saw at pride displaying kinks like this.

Aside from threatening physical assault against LGBT people at Pride, Dia also gave permission to this little to make a post calling out Queerautism and another user. If I remember correctly, the little, with Dia's permission, called them bitches. And their names were tagged to make sure it went straight to their notifications.

I assume that Dia's thought process was that this left the ones being attacked with two options. Either they ignore it and have to take the insult without being able to defend themselves, or they end up baited into attacking the little and Dia gets to use it for syscourse points.

Dia put its own little in a situation where the little might be harassed so that Dia could play victim if it successfully provoked an attack.

When Queerautism called out that this post was obviously bait, Dia immediately tried convincing everyone that the use of "bait" here was supposed to be sexual, and that queerautism and friends were pedophiles.

And I'm sure you can see the pattern. Lie, twist, bully, stir up drama, starts fights, and play victim.

Dia left syscourse for a bit to focus on its mental health, but recently made a return to invade pro-endo tags. I made my response here:

This link you sent me seems to be addressing that. So let me just respond to that real quick.

i never said endogenics can't have their own space.

I never said that Dia said this. But this isn't about having our own spaces. This is about existing in general spaces and spaces Dia thinks should feel safe. I don't think most endogenic systems are interested in going into spaces specifically for DID. But we do want to exist in public. We certainly want to be accepted in spaces to support the disabilities we do have.

Dia's wording of "not wanting endos to be in a space [it] want[s] to feel safe in" is problematic, as it leads to the type of situation in that Tweet (from my other post) where you have someone getting kicked out of support servers for mental health issues in the name of protecting anti-endos who happen to be there.

i've seen endo systems CHOOSE to be a system. notice how i said MOST and not ALL?

And I'm saying most is still not accurate.

i do not mind you using our tags because you use my culture while being a white person!! why not use more of our shit, hm?

I also want to comment on this. I sincerely hope I've got all the information correct. Much of it is from memory since Dia has cycled through different blogs and old posts are impossible to track down.

From what I understand, Dia is not a practicing Buddhist. I believe Dia has said the family was Lutheran and Dia was raised into that religion, though I don't believe Dia is Lutheran either anymore. Dia at one point went off on CambrianCrew for quoting Buddhism to them though and made it clear that it's not religious.

And while Dia had a grandmother who was a Tibetan Buddhist who tried to create a sprul-pa (and called the practice bullshit when she failed,) Dia doesn't identify as Tibetan. Dia's bio specifically references being Japanese and Chinese as well as having descent from Norway and Germany, as those are all cultures Dia identifies with, but doesn't mention being Tibetan. And if I remember correctly (this was a long time ago,) Dia specifically said it doesn't usually identify as Tibetan when asked about this because the link is so tenuous.

So Dia is, if I'm getting this correct, not a Buddhist and doesn't identify as Tibetan.

I can believe Dia probably has some Tibetan ancestry, but it seems strange to me to only identify as part of a culture when you can get points in an internet argument.

I also remember an exchange where Dia mocked the CambrianCrew for suggesting that the Dalai Lama comment on it. As I recall, Dia suggested it would be ridiculous for the Dalai Lama to get involved "in syscourse." Which, I feel highlights its real feelings on the topic. Dia ONLY cares about the topic because Dia is a system. Dia might use culture and religion to bolster its arguments, but Dia doesn't really view this as a cultural or religious issue. If Dia was a singlet, Dia would probably never comment on tulpas at all.

Dia resents tulpas and parogenic systems for what we are, and is using a culture it doesn't identify with (but does have heritage from) to justify that.

I do believe Dia is trying to get better in some respects but...

I also believe Dia is still falling back on creating drama and starting fights as a coping mechanism. Maybe even provoking fights as a form of self-harm.

Hence why Dia invaded the endogenic tags and why it made this insult-laden post directed at me. Dia wants to start more drama, even though it never ends well for anyone involved.

I discovered your svt blog today (through a reblog on someone else’s blog) and I started reading your other fics after the Mingyu 26k oneshot (it is AMAZING btw, I love everything about it) and I’ve been loving your works they are actually so fun !!!! And then I came across your tags on the jihoon fic and I laughed a bit about it because I always go “ahhh the good old days” when I come across any version of ‘I used to write gay character x character fics and now I write reader inserts’ because !!! So did I! I haven’t written in a while now, and haven’t posted in an even longer while but my trajectory does go like gay chara x chara for western media (? am I wording that correctly) ---> gay chara x chara anime ---> anime reader inserts ---> kpop reader inserts.

Then I casually scrolled up your blog and realised it’s a sideblog because there was a main blog linked to it? ANd I was like. “WELL SHIT. CAPTAIN-BRIE… ISN’T THAT… THE PERSON I USED TO KNOW BACK IN MY SPN DAYS… AHAHA… no maybe that’s just a character from some show and it’s a common name for people to use………” but then I couldn’t resist because I got antsy and I searched up ao3 dot org slash users slash captainbrietoast, then captainbriestoast, and when I didn’t find anything I was like “yea ok mistake on my part”

the reason why i do know them is because they once wrote a fic based on a fic i wrote and we talked for a bit ahjgfhjghjgjad (that fic is probably gone now because i removed a lot of my old works)

if i remember correctly, i think you do music journalism right? if so, did you go into it with a lot of knowledge about the music scene? i want to do music journalism but i'm scared that i don't know enough about it :/

hiii yes i started about a month ago and I think I've gathered most of my music knowledge throughout books, youtube videos, interviews, and even Tumblr posts.

for starters i think you should begin by watching videos on yt abt the genres/movements/artists etc ur interested in or simply the ones that seem interesting to you. my favorite channels for that are trash theory, mic the snare, polyphonic and rock n roll true stories. they all share really interesting and fun facts/stories or full on essays on a song or an album or tell u the entire history of how certain genre came to be etc. my favorites are polyphonic and trash theory btw.

watching these videos will inevitably lead u to search interviews and articles on a certain topic and i think what's really amazing about music history is how it's all connected like rn I'm reading meet me in the bathroom and I'm so glad i read please kill me first bc it just feels more adequate and makes u feel the magic of it all yk. I'd also recommend looking around the artist tag on here bc there's also lots of content on tumblr (like damonalbarnunofficial yk they're like god) and find these blogs that know what they're talking about. some of my knowledge also comes from reading my mutuals posts yk <3

and i think what will help you the most especially on terms of the music scene is reading books written by those who have been part of it or the ones that document it. it depends on which scenes u are most interested in but some of the ones I've read are please kill me, girl in a band by kim gordon, i dreamt i was a very clean tramp by richard hell, just kids by patti smith, afternoons with the blinds drawn by brett anderson, neon angel by cherie currie and while we were getting high by kevin cummins (it's mostly photographs but includes some trivia/the story about how the pic came to be etc.) and rn im reading meet me in the bathroom so these are the ones i could recommend. but there's also lots more like our band could be your life, face it, etc etc just read the ones that attract u. also all these books are free to download on zlibrary<3

i think another fun thing is to read about certain interesting journalists like legs mcneil, lester bangs, lizzy goodman, etc.

idk if u also have questions abt that but im gonna say it anyway lol. as for becoming a journalist my advice is make an Instagram account and find as many magazines from your country as u can. international magazines are obviously good as well but in my experience they're better for submitting certain articles and making ur cv look good lol which is great but it'll be more likely to get hired by a national magazine as that's where you're based and they can actually send u to a certain show/festival or even cover your local music scene. keep active on insta even if it's just to check their accounts bc they do post a lot of opportunities mostly on stories to either be officially a part of their team or to intern with them etc so i think in this day and age this is easiest and maybe only way to be a music journalist.

and also don't worry about not knowing Everything u don't have to know all about a certain genre or artist just start with what u know and research what interests u and it'll all come to u dw <3 good luck i hope this was helpful!!!<333

DON'T PUT A CHARACTER BASHING FIC INTO THAT CHARACTERS SHIP TAG!

Really people, we know better than that.

There are curently two YuKai fanfictions in the KaiTaka tag that have no right to be there. And yes i tried to read them before i got to this conclusion after how irritating they are. Like had i found them looking thorugh the YuKai Tag I might have liked them because they aren't completely bad. I do dislike how Kai is being portraied but thats my problem.

What is worse, in my opinion is the way Takao is portraied here. Blatantly ignoring his growth through teh series and writing him as a homophobic piece of shit who would discard Kai for no reason. Like do you all remember that it was Takao who tried to do everything to get Kai to work with him? Like im not even mentioning the Lake Baikal scene here (Cause that whole thing was initiated by Max iirc correctly) and you can say he was annoying but he was also a pre-teen shounen protagonist. And just focusing on his outrbursts and egoism in G-Rev is bad too especially when you acknowledge teh abuse and mental trauma of the russian team and Kai. Mental illness and puberty can affect everyone, not just the ones who had traumatic childhood events!!

And with that I'd like to all remember a few simple things before posting in a ship tag:

Is the ship only mentioned in my fic?

Put it in, but tag it as *mentioned* even if its mentioned often. Those who don't like a ship should have a chance to avoid it

2. Is it a former relationship of one of the characters?

Put it in, but tag it as *EX/former* etc., see above

3. Can I handle the fans?

Or: what audience do i want? I assume that you'd want teh main ships audience before anythign else especially because some fans aren't nice enough to rant some other place than your fics comment section

4. Do I want to make anyone angry on purpose?

You're an asshole adn you shouldn't put that tag in - Period

5. Do I believe that I gain anything from posting in this tag?

See 3. Think twice if the gains really outweigh the negativity. I do understand taht sometimes you want that becuase maybe you have friend who read your fics and ship it. Or because its a really small fandom or ship with only few fics. Still, think about wether you'd want your main ship to be tagged in a fic that handles it teh way your fic does

6. Do I dislike or even hate that ship?

Don't tag the ship *without* putting Anti before it. If you explicitly want to show it in a bad light e.g. an abusive relationship then let the readers know. Don't fool fans of a pairing to read your stuff if you're gonna be an asshole about it (see 4.)

To wrap it up I'd like to mention that putting the side pairing in is not inherently bad. Some fic's like e.g. misdres four kingdoms have eveery right to be in that tag. But the two fics that started this rant or the infamous KaiRei fic on fanfiction.net that is named and tagged as KaiTaka for no reason at all (Takao isn't even mentioned in it????) have no right to lead fans on like that. Especially if one Character is bashed or portraied especially bad don't put it in there.

Im not free of bashing characters myself, some even really badly OOC but i would never, ever put it in the characters main tag or ship tag like that. Its a simple thing that keeps your work from ruining peoples days.

And I'd also like to add that its not just a "this perosn is bad" mention here but a portrayal that makes my stomach turn and my whole body tingel in the wrong way, it physically hurts me. And that reaction is usually reserved for a NOTP - which YuKai isnt. YET. But if i see any more of that "my ship is better thn your ship" tagged wrongly it will turn into one (like KaiRei did btw)

Shez being portrayed as someone who can’t help Claude through his trust issues unlike By.leth, when Shez is actually shown trying to help Claude while all By.leth does is 👁👁 and magics away Claude’s (everyone’s) issues… that shit hurts as someone who likes Shez :( Especially when I really can’t see what By.leth did in 3H that was so impactful for Claude that Shez just can’t do, when Claude’s the lord that so obviously needs/needed By.leth the least.

Like on one hand I do like that Shez can’t quite get through to Claude and how much both of them clearly want to be friends with each other but can’t quite close that distance, since it’s a relationship that’s both interesting in itself and fairly unique when it comes to Shez’s relationships in general (and removes the annoying player pandering - really lets Shez feel like a character)… but then I remember that people are just going to use this as fuel as to why By.leth is the best thing since sliced bread when they literally don’t do anything on a personal level for Claude and I just :/

yeah i don't really like seeing the negativity on shez either. i think he's a really fun character and im enjoying his interactions with the rest of the cast a lot. there's a lot of aspects to his personality that i'd like to explore further! and there's much less player pandering from what i've experienced so far, which is a huge plus for me. i haven't played gw yet but it sounds like shez and claude have an interesting dynamic there - somewhat unique, like you say, for having the relationship between the lord and the protag be a little difficult, with more trial and error than what we usually see in the 3h games. i get the feeling that that might have been what the writers were trying to go for in throuses with by/leth and claude? and it's relatively well-executed in the first few chapters but then eventually the by/leth focus still comes into play pretty hard, especially after the timeskip, and claude's distrust and his resulting apprehensive, distant stance towards by/leth peter out pretty rapidly. which is fine except it isn't even bc by/leth is really doing anything, the story just happens and claude learns new things and decides to trust by/leth now. unfortunately people disliking protags and being negative about it is just what being in this fandom is like. i mean, i try to be fair about it and i try to tag my posts correctly, but i can't say that im not being negative abt by/leth a lot. and there's plenty of people who don't do anyone the courtesy of hiding their thoughts behind tags and polite words, and that's not fun for by/leth enjoyers either. but then i really dislike how a huge part of the fandom hypes on by/leth and their importance to every character and their mum and then turn around and call shez a bland knock-off, or cold and unfeeling, or say that the characters suffer for shez being around instead of by/leth simply bc shez is a different character with a different relationship to the lords and a different role in the story as a whole. especially if you think that by/leth doesn't do a whole lot for most characters at all. and claude is definitely the lord who got hit with the least player pandering, so it's even more of a drag to see people use shez as an excuse to over-emphasise by/leth's importance to him. there's not much to do but try to ignore people who say that kind of stuff and curate your fandom experience as much as you can.

Tumblr Clients to Use Other Than This Shitty App (but honestly thoooo...)

This is a long list and it's mostly me rambling about features that stood out to me. Also, going through these, no client here is going to completely replace the desktop or the app for most people. All of these clients have something up with them that, at least for me, hasn't made me stop using official tumblr options. Even the option I actually recommend to use is still just the official tumblr app while on desktop it's best to just use dashboard unfucker and xkit rewritten.

Think of these as companion apps for the most part.

Desktop

Washboard.ws: Browser || Free

Idk if anyone still remembers washboard?? I remember it being the first tumblr client I've seen people talk about back in the day... and, boy, does it still feel like it's back in the day.

It's a bit old feeling since it still using the older tumblr dash layout and I think some features don't work correctly like search not working and trying to reblog or like a post gives you an error. Their blog hasn't been updated in 2 years and the site feels like it hasn't been updated in 7 so while it's up and running, it's not very functional anymore. I just had to mention it because I appreciate it so much.

Still, to me, it's the better working and easy to understand client on the windows store.

I do like this one feature that let's you have multiple tabs open. It's not a well working feature that sometimes crashes the app and searching tags don't always show with this enabled, but you can do it.

Tumblesocks (updated fork): Emacs app(?) || Free

I know I put this off for most of the month bc I had a feeling it'll be a bitch in a half to do (and I was right) but I didn't know I'd spend 3 days trying to get this client to work. Emacs itself was difficult to work with even though I went the simple way and the gnu install.

I tried this out in Windows. Got frustrated. Actually fucked with Linux. Got more frustrated. I'm pretty sure Linux users are probably like "this is so easy" and that's fine but there's a reason I hate Linux and I'm not cut out to test out Emacs. I'm sorry.

If you're interested I still have the links above. Gargle's fork is probably the best to use since it's said to fix a lot of things. But I absolutely invite anybody to reblog this or send me an ask explaining how to get this shit running in the most hand holdy way.

As far I can find, there isn't a client app for macos. I closest I saw was an app called MenuTab Pro for Tumblr which everyone was saying doesn't work (anymore?). From the looks of it, it would've fallen under "viewer" for me so I most likely would've skipped it anyways.

Android

Tumblr (revanced): Android || Free

So this post was made awhile back before tumblr was supported by the revanced community. I'm excited to see that, while I was testing all these clients out, some people have made tumblr patches for revanced!

There are very little patches right now. Most importantly the tumblr live icon is now gone and ads are supposed to also be gone but that sims a bit more finicky. It only says that dashboard ads are disabled and sometimes it feels like they are but then they come back in full force so you'll have to force close the app in settings and then they're gone again for awhile. The same with blaze post as it feels like they've also been disabled until it doesn't.

Even though these are early patches, it's still the only option I would replace the original app with. It's not a client so you still have to deal with Official Tumblr App Bullshit™ but you also get all the expected or good features of the tumblr app that some of these clients don't have. I would like to see more patches like hiding the badges or fixing how the disable ads patch work but it's still better than nothing.

This bit is long, sorry, but I wanna add it's worth picking between 2 versions of the tumblr app depending on how you like the layout. v28.6.0.110 (the version I use) has the old layout and some problems that come will it like tiny images in text post, not being able to reply with side blogs, and sometimes some things just stop... working at times? While any version after that will have the new layout what comes with it: tumblrmart icon, changed activity feed, new video/photo view. I love the old layout over the new one so I stick with v28.

Both versions have their goods and bads and is why I have 3 versions of tumblr on my phone. Using app cloner (better options are behind an otp. don't get the sub, it's not worth it) you can install different versions and see what you want.

My Pros • It's still the Tumblr app so everything you like is all here • No ads! (sometimes) • Tumblr Live icon is gone <3 • Am able to test out newer features that are actually useful and interesting (like collections and interacting from side blogs) My Cons •Blaze posts are still present at times • It's still the Tumblr app so almost everything you hate is still here • Badges are still visible as well as version newer than v28.6.0.110 will have the "add badges" button on your blog • Annoying pop ups like going ad free or whatever are still a thing if you're using any version with the new layout • Breaks like "but wait! there is more" and "check out these x" are still here • TumblrMart icon is still at the top corner on the new layout

TeeHub: Android/iOS || Free/Sub - $1.99, $3.99, $5.99/OTP - $8.99

While this has become my new favorite android tumblr client, the free version of this app feels so limiting and the paid version don't feel that better. I'm still happy that they added the one time payment option because I'm tried of subscriptions but stuff like not being able to see text only post at all, problems with posting, and no filter feature is so annoying to me.

Currently, TeeHub, on the tumblr side of things, feels lacking but also on the same level as Tumbletail for Android. There is an OTP of $8.99 and 3 sub options of $1.99, $3.99, and $5.99. If you like this and want to support it getting better I'd say just do the OTP because while the pro features aren't anything important, paying 9 bucks once feels more worth it than paying around 50 by the time the month is over.

TeeHub is only my favorite android client right now because it looks nice. If Tumbletail fucking updated their app so you can post in the paid version and it didn't look like shit it'd be a different story.

This one I love what they're trying to do I just think it needs more time in the oven. Some of my problems with this that aren't in my cons list are some of the dashboard settings in carousel view aren't available in waterfall view (the view I use in the image) and text post specifically don't have a square around them to separate them from other post. It's not that bad when it's a text post sandwiched between images but when there's text posts in a row, like in the image, it all looks like 1 text post.

They do have a blog and this app does get updates so I've been keeping an eye on this. They seem to be very open and accepting to feedback unlike someone else on this list and that's really fucking cool.

*screaming and crying* I feel like... a disappointed parent. Except I'm not disappointed. I'm mad.

This was my favorite client all the way back in 2012 when I was forced to use an iphone 3gs. I loved the way it looked, the text post were easy to read, it was smooth to use, it had a tag history that made reblogging & making post easy for me who ran an acnl blog, had really good settings to mess around with.... Y'all... so much of this is just not on the android version.

And it fucking pisses me off lol. There's no reason for the android version to look so ugly, to be lacking in settings & features, to not give paid uses the ability to post when you can on ios?

While the android version of this app is usable, moving from the ios app to android and seeing how lacking it was comparably and seeing people give feedback to cathand (who did have a blog) but they went unanswered while the ios version still got updates... The ios versions aren't perfect but it's a much better experience than the android apps. And I'm a bit mad about that.

Violet is a weird on. I want to see it get better but I also don't recommended it. It did get a price cut to $1 so, ya know, but I think as a client it's not good. As a viewer, it's usable. I don't like the carousel view I'd rather have a normal dash. Stuff like posting and searching aren't a thing and reblogging isn't as featureful as I wish.

This works best in the way we heart it and instgram do, not like tumblr does.

Had this app since 2012 and I still recommended using it along side the tumblr app. Mostly because of how tumblr works today with their restrictions and inclusion of a filters list.

While text post in the dash view looks better than on android to me, open a text post the contents are so small but they fit the screen. I know the image shows that I have text size small but that's only because it doesn't change anything that I can tell so I left it alone.

This is the most fine and normal client on ios so far and I honestly really love it for that. I found the only big problems I had was I couldn't post anything, you can't add tags when reblogging content, and that you couldn't reblog to queue. As a primarily queue user, that's annoying.

I think the best way to describe this app is "chill". If I was able to make post and use queue/draft this would be my replacement app.

MultiTab have old pricing structure list that is still up on the apple store page but is not longer effective since the subscription model was added, sadly.

Another app I would actually buy if they didn't only have fucking subscription options.

Compared to Tumbot it kinda feels less clean to me. Idky but it looks a bit clutter or busy even if you only have one dashboard tabs open. I also think post not having a boarder or a different background from the background isn't helping either.

But the way this app handles reblogging is so good and the custom dashboards that I've been wanting on this damn site for years is here but pretty limited. I'm sad that even paid users have a pretty small limit for how many people you can add to a "feedset".
