KWHDOEJF AAAAH I SWEAR YOUR IDEAS ARE SO GOOD 😫✨️🤌👌
This just makes me think of how Y/N would have to not only be Assertive but also quick thinking.
Like she's only there to do her job and just blocks out everything else like Masky wants her to suck him off? Or walk around naked? Too bad, she has to fix the roof or the boss will punish them all. Hoodie wants to play mind-games? He'll have to wait because she has a list of groceries she needs to fulfill. Toby wants to be clingy? He can tag along as long as he's not getting in the way of her work.
The mental image of Y/N wacking Masky with a broom is just too good to pass up lmao.
I like to think that the Operator, despite being cruel, is also realistic and would give the Human Maid permission to defend herself if something comes in the way of her duties or she needs to. That would make things ten times funner than if she was just not allowed to do anything.
THANK YOU<3<3
Slenderman allows everything as long as it's not interfering with his business tbh. You can smack and be down bad with the others as long as you don't kill them
No one would have the guts to snitch you to the big boss if you harmed them,he would be pissed off to be disturbed with such childish behaviour from his residents
Masky would be fuming his nerves out.Your confident and smart moves only make him to further try to abuse his power, which he can't,because he can't get into the way of Operator's wishes
Clockwork would pass you in the hallways and would nod her head,a sign of respect that doesn't wear off
She would be a little shit to Masky and would brag about how he cannot get his dick wet this time
Your choices would make the residents respect you more instead of showing pity to your situation
This would make some want to test their limits with you, which would results into more frustration for them
Hoodie would treat you more as a colleague after seeing how you could see trough him. That would also result into friendly debates now that he found someone with as many brain cells as him
Toby is still happy to see you, especially now that he knows that you're almost untouchable

Reminder that WWX did use a homophobic slur (cutsleeve) before he found out he was, in fact, a "cutsleeve" himself.
I'd also argue that him taking advantage of MXY's body and the rumours associated with him by acting as a "stereotypical gay" to get out of situations was a form of homophobia in itself.
He assumed this was how crazy, gay people act - like sexual deviants. He used that stereotype on top of the rumours about MXY just to get out of sticky situations and avoid being captured.
Whilst this isn't aggressive homophobia, nor would I consider him a raging homophobe myself, he still took advantage of the world view he was raised in, which, in modern terms, was problematic in itself.
Think the harmful, stereotypical, predatory gay trope in anime that a lot of anime fans have taken issue with. That's the stereotype WWX was trying to perpetuate and brush off as a silly joke which is bordering that harmful stereotype territory mentioned above. And yet I don't see the moral "holier than thou" crowd talking about that in their analysis on "fictional characters in an ancient Chinese setting."
(Note before I get jumped on: I don't think WWX was being cruel or malicious when he did this. Nor do I think he purposely intended to sully poor MXY's image further. And I ofc don't think that WWX is a terrible person for doing so either. The guy was desperate and needed to pull tricks to avoid capture. But that still doesn't make things right by modern standards. Even if said stereotype was used to goad a load of "homophobes." Would also like to add that even after coming out, WWX didn't really challenge the societal standard or think ill of anyone who thought like that. It's not like he toured the CW with LWJ, promoting gay rights. He'd be very extraordinary for doing that and brave, too. But he didn't. Instead, he just got up to sexy times with his husband daily and lazed about living the good life. Which is valid of him, tbh, giving the shit he went through. But my point still stands. The social norm persists.)
Also, bare in mind, WWX was heavily in denial about his own sexuality at first and struggled to come to terms with it in the beginning due to the societal norms back then, anyway.
Homophobia was the norm. Stop denying that when you know most of the characters found it bizarre.
By their standards being gay was, unfortunate as it is, unusual and to them, perhaps even immoral in its own right.
By modern standards, we know now that it is wrong. And the moral consensus is that being gay is normal and should not be vilified (even then, not all cultures today have reached that consensus and LGBT rights still have a long way to go).
With this in mind and the notion of what morality meant to people back then, you mustn't hold the characters to modern standards because that was simply the world view. What was "right" back then.
You cannot say with certainty that you wouldn't be homophobic back then, in a world where people called it strange and immoral. As much as I'd like to believe that I would be one of the few who find it wrong to treat gay people poorly, most of us probably would find homosexuality strange because that was the moral consensus of that time. As such, it is unfair to hold characters like JC, JL, and JGY to modern standards for that reason. That's the point we've all been trying to make here.
(Even then, JC and JL both watched as WWX left with his hubby into the sunset and didn't speak illy of their relationship again, nor consider them social outcasts like the Jins and Mos treated MXY. It's almost as if people can change their world views entirely (or to some extent) after things become normalised. Hmm. 🧐
Furthermore, MXTX herself said that JC wasn't a bad person. She wouldn't say that if he's the "aggressive homophobe, incapable of change" like you all seem to imply he is.)
You all make this point about historical context when us JC fans criticise WWX for his clear breach of bodily autonomy with the core transfer and his own war crimes. You should apply that logic to the period typical homophobia too. Because as I have said before, you cannot say for certain that the characters would be homophobic had this taken place in a society where being gay was the norm whilst homophobia was frowned upon. Let's use some logic and context when talking about characters from an ancient time period, shall we?

Unhealthy Obsession.
Okay wait actually, remembering how it took a while for Pariah Dark to get sealed off just means that they were some bending in his sworn oath, right?
Okay another angst prompt, consider; softly insane! Danny.
(Tw: Dark!Danny, morally ambiguous? No one's having a great time tbh but like it's poetically soft imo. Also our boy's officially lost it :∆ his words are cryptic.)
Final warning: This is depressingly sad for Danny's part, sure. But he's also unjustified so I'll classify this as [Dead Dove: Do not eat]
Danny's adopted by the Waynes just like, a bit little short time before his coronation (also he's around 16-18 years old because I'm dragging the desperate for validation because he never felt seen unless someone praises him trope). At that time span he's this very rarely seen brother that's absolutely trying his best between juggling his very impromptu 'how to be a proper monarch' lessons (read: the ancients drilling manors, rules, oaths, etc to his poor head because they don't want a repeat Pariah Dark) and being a present family members because he genuinely loves them. (They know about the vigilante stuff and the Waynes understandably backed away from convincing him, seeing how Danny already has shit ton on his plate.)
Until one day something big happens that almost ended the world, and Bruce dies. It was just him and his dad there, with no other bird or bat in sight. No one knew yet— no one needs to know. Kronos' carefully crafted human, no— prince finally shatters after all the pressure, and all he thinks is how unfair the world has been to him.
It's a very, very slow descent to insanity, what he had been through.
He lost so much, he won't lose anything again. And amidst the eerie scenery of a prince cradling the body of his father, was the sight of himself stitching him back together— giving him a new life. He whispered apologies after apologies to the unconscious man; and for a second Kronos would've pitied him.
Except he didn't. He knew he can't.
After all the chaos they finally had each other again, and Danny stood contently as he watched Alfred personally tend to his family's wounds, big or small. He also watched as his family bicker with each other after all they've been through, and realized something; all of this will die.
Alfred, Bruce, his brothers, Cass and Steph— they're all painfully mortal. He'll outlive his family, and in the end he'll be alone. He doesn't want to be left alone.
And what is to do when you realize your family is painfully, awfully mortal?
...you either curse them with immortality, or place a generational curse on them so you'll all meet in every life, of course! (Oh, did I mention about cursing your family so they'll all get reincarnated everytime they die to make them find each other by everytime?)
... except these curses are incredibly forbidden, because they go against the nature of life and death.
Which leads to the sight of Danny being cuffed from his neck, his arms, his wrists, and his legs. His expression is deadly calm, he smiles softly contrast to the Waynes that are watching in horror. He watches as his family's face contorts to something unreadable when his captors reads over his charges, and he couldn't bring himself to feel remorse.
"By the name of the Infinite realms, Prince Phantom is sentence to imprisonment, for the charges of tempering with the cycle of life and breaking the Royal oath."
"He will be serving until the day of his coronation by the terms of the infinite realms, under the watchful gaze of the ghost of time. The guilty may be there farewells before they are sent to their sentence."
Danny smiles at them; soft but undeniably cruel. He bows at them, like how he would bow on days where his father would teach him how to ballroom dance.
"this is not a goodbye, it is merely a see you later." He starts, voice full of merit. "May we meet again, and may the circumstances of our next meeting a better one."
His smile turns sharper then, the contrast between it and his soft eyes sends an unpleasant shiver. "For our destiny are tied, and our Fates will overlap with each other."
"You cannot change our destiny. For the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb, and our bond has tied us together."
"None of you will run from me— none of you can run from me."
"Because I will chase you down and hunt you until our family is complete."

An Investigation of the Impaler's Catacombs
So, with the DLC being announced and us getting some info about it and its characters, one thing we learn is, of course, Messmer the Impaler. Some people were quick to point out that there is a location in the base game called Impaler's Catacombs. "Impaler's" is singular, meaning it belonged to AN impaler, not a group of impalers, which would be impalers'.
Interestingly, the Impaler's Catacombs are also located on the Weeping Peninsula. I say this is interesting because a couple reasons;
1. The Weeping Peninsula is home to a spirit next to a church who speaks of an unwanted child of Marika's. Many people assumed this had something to do with the headless demigod in the Walking Mausoleums, but we are now inclined to believe it could be Messmer. That being said, there could be some relation to the headless demigod and Messmer, as we do seem to see more knights similar to Mausoleum Knights in the trailer and images. And with Messmer's seeming fondness for blasphemous things; he has dragon eyes, he has a snake, he wields fire and what looks like the thorns of the guilty, I think this could be related to why he would be unwanted. He's a little shit.
2. The Weeping Peninsula does not have a demigod or shardbearer. Every other region of the game has some kind of big boss that is important to the main story, while the Peninsula has... a Leonine Misbegotten... sure, this boss is interesting with the story of Castle Morne and it having the sword, but it is interesting that this is the only region without one and just so happens to also have this dungeon and a spirit talking about an unwanted child.
So, onto the actual dungeon.
For starters, we have a giant pit near the beginning of the dungeon.
Tumblr media
Is this important? Probably not since I'm pretty sure other dungeons have this kind of entrance area, but one think I don't think is typical of dungeons is this:
Tumblr media
There are bars over the tombs. Now, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this does not happen in other dungeons, at least not very many. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is odd.
Tumblr media
And this appears to be in multiple areas, not just this hall, though admittedly not every one of these corpse storage things are like this.
But now we have the impaling part of the Impaler's Catacombs; a classic trap of step on it, get pushed up into a bunch of spikes. Oh look at that, you've been impaled.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think this could imply that, if this is related to Messmer, that he would be a very cruel person. I mean, you would probably have to be cruel to impale someone regardless, but to do so through a not-so-fun funhouse trap is probably a bit more sadistic.
Underneath this is the sewers. These sewers still have tombs here, which is a pretty shitty place to be laid to rest. Does this have any meaning? Well, it could add to the theme of unwantedness. If you don't want someone, you likely don't respect them, and if don't respect them, put them with the poop. And if he somehow had a hand in making this one, it could be that this tomb was for people just like that.
Tumblr media
Is there anything interesting about the sewers? Well, it's full of Putrid Corpses. According the item description of the Putrid Corpse Ashes:
Tumblr media
Does this mean anything? Tbh, I'm not sure. There could be something we could out these enemies essentially being meat shields or distractions though, but may I am reaching again.
The other interesting thing we find here is a prattling prate! Specifically...
Tumblr media
"Please Help." Oop. I think the name speaks for itself, but the shape of this prate, all of which are intended to be heads, looks very squished. Almost like the person who has pleaded for help has had their head stepped on, which is something I'm sure many Messmer fans wish could happen to them.
Next up we have more barred over tombs next to the lever. This will add more to my theory at the end.
Tumblr media
We've got this window that leads back to the boss room. Does this mean anything? Probably not, but you better believe that I'm gonna pull something out of it at the end. Plus it's kind of a neat way to loop back around!
Tumblr media
Speaking of the boss, our boss is a Burial Watchdog. Pretty standard. But what isn't standard is that this one is accompanied by four imps.
Tumblr media
Once again, very cruel. Mostly to use, the player, but still. It will go into the fuel pile for my theory.
And for beating this boss, we get the Demihuman Ashes.
Tumblr media
Can I get anything out of this? Well, the Demi-Humans are a pretty oppressed group, like many of the inhabitants of the Lands Between who weren't born as the Golden Order or its enforcers would want you to be.
So, what is my theory? Well, as you could probably tell...
I think Messmer is an asshole. A very cruel asshole. Assuming he is related to this dungeon, I think that this dungeon was maybe meant more for punishment than normal burial.
The tombs being barred over? Only those with clean shots to the exit are. Perhaps Messmer would have people entombed alive and they would be locked behind these bars, unable to escape and forced either to starve to death, or simply suffer forever since death was removed.
Those tombs that aren't barred over? Well, they're all right on our fun little deathtrap. Sure, you don't have bars. You can get out of your tomb, but the moment you do, your driven through with metal spikes. And below is the sewers, which is full of putrid corpses and a prate asking for help.
Perhaps others were shoved down here to live in the filth, unable to get up to the top. The time of being trapped down here had them begging for help, begs that went unanswered, and they were corrupted by the filth into these putrid beings.
As for the boss? Well, let's start with the window down to it. Your only choice would be to head down into the sewers, or out this window. This window doesn't harm us, but we have protagonist powers. Any normal person would probably shatter their legs. Next, the boss' drop. The Demi-Human ashes. Again, an oppressed and hated group. Perfect for being trapped here as a punishment, no?
And the boss itself is a large group. You get past the bars, you get past the death trap, you get out of the sewers, make it down the window without being too badly hurt, and what you have is four Imps and a Watchdog waiting to make sure you NEVER make it out.
I think Messmer may have watched over the Weeping Peninsula and may have made this tomb not for the dead, but for the living. To trap them; make them suffer and never be able to get out.
And as a little bonus; the pit at the beginning. A funny thing about this pit is that there are messages down here. You can survive the drop! But uh... good luck getting out. You physically can't unless you have beaten the dungeon and fast travel, or use one of the items that return you to a Site of Grace. This could add to the theme of you're trapped and never leaving. Once the rest of the tomb is full, they bring you in, drop you in a whole, you break your everything, and are trapped. But this assumes this was intentional, but tbh, it probs wasn't.
BUT HEY, THAT'S JUST A THEORY. A GAME THEORY. Thanks for reading. Is any of this true? Maybe. Only time will tell. I'd love to hear your thoughts and thank you to everyone who made it this far in the post.

in chapter 3 of tcp, there was a scene of cardan attacking then tearing a boy’s wings because he didn’t bow, do you think there are more meanings behind this action? it’s my 2nd time rereading tfota trilogy and this scene still baffles me
(i'm gonna copy/paste a lot from this post because i did answer this, but it was part of a reblog, and tbh it deserves its own post cos it's a damn good question.)
i don't think Cardan had a reason behind his actions in that scene so much as i think Holly had a big reason for including it.
i would argue that, from a character creation standpoint, the ripping of the faerie's wings provides the most important context for Cardan's character in TCP. foremost, it is our very first impression of him. he is truly cruel in that scene. he is at his worst.
one thing they taught us in Creative Writing school: always introduce your characters in a way that shows them doing something that is fundamental to their character.
the book is called The Cruel Prince, ergo we can only assume Holly wanted Cardan to be perceived as cruel. so the first thing we see him doing? something vicious and irredeemable, for no apparent reason (other than to be a dick). it makes us trust Jude's hatred for him; it makes us hate Cardan, too.
if we take that scene out, however, Cardan seems all bark and no bite. sure, he actively insults Jude. and he may even participate in his friends' more malicious bullying. but he's shit with a sword and clearly takes a more subdued role in the bullying scenes (see: watching out for the nixies to make sure they weren't getting too close, telling Valerian to stop when he was suffocating Jude, pricking Jude's finger to sober her up).
so what does Jude really have to be afraid of without that first scene?
certainly not Cardan specifically, but rather, his cohort as a whole. and tbh that's not much more specific than just saying "everything in Faerie is terrifying", which she does indeed point out multiple times. but she needed to be afraid of him, and therefore, she needed a believable reason for that fear.
there's a difference between being actively cruel and passively cruel, and the ripping of the faerie's wings transforms Cardan from the latter to the former simply and effectively.
so yes. he is mean and cruel and cowardly. i suppose it's fine for people to have qualms with him for everything he did/did not do in TCP.
but i happen to think growth is very sexy so i will not be holding any of that against him 😌✨
–Em 🖤🗡

Hey bestie!!!! Your works are chef kiss 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼 uhm I was wondering if you can write angst w Ferran? Idk like there's an argument n he says something hurtful?? Miss ma'am tbh I have no clue what im requesting😭😭 all ik is that I'd like some angst ending in fluff pls??? N ur writing is amazing so 🤌🏼
Broken souls (Ferran x Reader)
Tumblr media
Warnings: angsty with happy ending, mentions of Ferran's insecurities and mental health, mentions of the internet being assholes, Sira mention (not in a truly bad way as the girl is amazing)
Masterlist
You know Ferran adores Barça and loves playing in it, it's where his best friends play and 9ne the best club's out there, but sometimes you can't help but wonder if things would be better had he stayed in Manchester City.
Words can bring down even the happiest of people, that person who everyone knows to be the nicest, the funniest, being broken by people on the Internet feeling the need to comment on all his flaws and creating insecurities.
It's terrible for anyone, brings them down, worsens their mental health and makes them sometimes not be themselves.
Your boyfriend, you know is broken, as months pass by he becomes even more of a shell of his true self, he might pretend everything is alright out there, but you know it isn't.
He overworks himself, training hours not enough for him, locking himself in the gym or using the goalie on your backyard to practice until late night hours, then waking up even before the sun rises.
You know he is exhausted, but he refuses to stop, you are worried about what will happen to him, you have told him so multiple times, and the screaming match you both are having right now is a repetition, already happened.
"I just told you to please come to bed, I don't think there is nothing wrong with it!" you shout at him, trying to get your words through that thick head of his, he shakes his head, a smile that is not truthful, almost cruel.
"You don't fucking understand, don't you? How can I go to bed when I fucking suck! Its almost as if you have fun seeing how terrible I am!"
"How can you say that? You know I am your biggest supporter! I just think you should also keep in mind to take care of yourself!"
He gives a dry laugh, face to face with you as he glares down at you, you are not afraid though, you know he would never hurt you -at least not with his hands that he furiously moves around and points at you.
"Really? Because I think you enjoy it, having all culers hating on me, maybe you like that I have no one by my side to have me all for yourself! Always so fucking clingy" he sighs "Sira understood..."
You both tense, his eyes snap into yours, apologetic, trying to reach out for you.
"Love, I'm-"
"Fuck you, Ferran. If Sira was so much better then she can take care of you so you don't fucking die from exhaustion" you are in tears "I fucking care for you and you just treat me as if I was a parasite, someone you don't actually love, maybe you didn't want a girlfriend -at least not me as its obvious you did want Sira, you wanted someone to keep your house clean and all that shit so meanwhile you repay me like this"
You walk away from his, you don't let him grab you a she wants, picking up your purse and intentionally leaving the house keys behind. You stop, see the promise ring on your finger, and go to take it off, his hands stop you.
"Please, amor, don't do that I promise I will try to do better, ok? You are right, I am sorry for treating you like shit, I promise I will listen to what you say"
You laugh "Only when you are about to lose me do you react, how can I believe your words for a second if maybe this conversation will repeat itself in a week"
"It won't, ok? I swear, y/n, I will do my best so there is no repetition on this, I want you, I love you, I won't be able to do this without you. I know I am an asshole, bit the one good thing I have is you and I will make sure to always remind it"
You think it over for a second, dropping your purse you let his arms wrap around you, taking a moment in them, you then go on to whisper.
"You are still sleeping on the couch after that Sira comment"
"Totally worth it if you stay"

Hiii I recently became a Carat and as an avid fanfic reader, I was wondering if there are any stories you can recommend!! I have no member preference, as long as there is an interesting story (longer the better, if there are chapters even better). And i love me a good smut 👀
hi sweetheart!! first and foremost, i recommend checking out the other authors of svthub. here you'll find a variety of svt writers!!! as of right now we're doing our spring collab, so def check that out!!! note that i only have a few members on here (gyu, joshie, hoshi, kwannie)? i didn't realize until i finished that i only had these four???? idk if this is my subconscious trying to tell me something but i'll continue to ignore it!!!
my personal faves are all reblogged under fic rec, but here's some that have stood out to me since reading~
spoiled by @wonusite ; KMG
"summary: you have never been spoiled, but that changes after you meet the man your mother is going to marry."
it's got four parts and is so fucking disgusting and wonderful it's ridiculous. it's seriously a marvel to humanity tbh and when aliens come and ask for a relic to prove that humans deserve to be spared from their alien wrath, i'll give them these fics <3
acouasm by @angelwoozi ; HJS
"n.) a ringing noise in your head — and it's just three words of promise whispered by yours truly during moments of sorrow, or moments of joy. the whisper also lives in the crevices of your mind during moments of pleasure, when he makes love to you, his true love."
it isn't necessarily long, but it is so fucking sweet and artful? in my tags i described it as truly belonging to the golden hour, and tbh i still stand by it. it's incredibly tender and freya's way with words reminds me of ancient greek and roman statues; there's an era in art called neoclassical, where artists mostly focus on depicting mythos and creatures from greek, roman, and christian lore. like, an angel with outstretched wings, her shawl expanding and wrapping around her, heaven's spotlight surrounding.
to the brim by @toruro ; KMG
"description: all your sweet husband wants is to put a baby into you—is that so bad?"
LISTEN mika writes some of the filthiest shit, i'm not even kidding. idk how her brain comes up with some of this stuff? somehow she KNOWS all of my deepest kinks and secrets and just writes them like they're NOTHING? truly a menace to society and we should all be on our knees thanking her.
bluff and nonsense by @thepixelelf ; KSY
"
“Soonyoung? Yeah I know him, you should too. He’s on the uni’s dance crew, and ever since he joined them, their popularity’s skyrocketed. I’ve met him a few times, great guy — got a tendency to run his mouth but hey, no one’s perfect. He’s smart anyways, probably knows how to deal with the consequences, right?”
or
Soonyoung never thought one bluff could lead to so much nonsense."
this fic fuckign RUINED ME. the others don't have as much plot as this, but even months after reading it still remains one of my favorite fics. i've been meaning to reread it? but i just haven't gotten to it, but i know i'll still feel the heartache and betrayal all over again, it's just that good. like it's so good you can feel the stabbing in your heart and tummy :(
vanilla by @milfgyuu ; HJS
"Summary: Joshua has a secret but perhaps it’s not really a secret at all. Maybe you’ve just refused to see it in an effort to keep your feelings at bay."
probably the dirtiest fic on this list. it's absolutely wild. there was NO preparing for everything in this fic? it's insane. absolutely insane fr. like -- even reading the tags can't prepare you. reader wasn't prepared and i really don't think ANYONE ever could have been.
stay-at-home husband/dad mingyu by @celestiababie
it's what it says! stay at home gyu who is willing to help his darling breadwinner spouse with whatever they need :) it's got multiple parts and such, and it's so cruel that it exists because it'll occupy my thoughts every once in a while and then i just have to stand there thinking about desperate little gyu whining while a teacher is talking. will change your life, 10/10 recommend
pussy sport by @duhnova ; BSK
"synopsis: leave it up to boo seungkwan to almost suffocate between your thighs, eat you out till you’re crying, and to figure out a new kink of his."
when i turn 108 and am getting ready to walk off the edge of the earth, and they ask me my secret to living so long i'll think back to this fic and smile, and then suddenly i'll be brought back to life. it's this serious. every once in a while someone on the svthub server remembers it exists again and goes feral. and i completely fucking agree, we should be going feral over boo seungkwan 24/7. to not be feral over boo seungkwan and this fic is a cardinal sin, and not the sexy kind.

I DO have a long Project Moon Universe post/mini-essay(?) I wanna make (Well. focused on Limbus, but also the other games as well), but I want a few more Cantos to go by first for references to prove my point,,,,
Spark Notes draft below the cut if anyone's interested in the premise: "The City, and its relationship towards those who are too gentle for it's cruelty"
Ok great, for the people still here- The sad little essay I wanna eventually make-
I think it's. TRUELY heartbreaking how much kindness as a concept seems to be punished in the city, to the point where its often an active point that the truly kind (or at least notably non-violent) characters always seem to get the shortest straws.
I won't get into too many specifics till I make the Whole Real Post, but- It feels like a few things typically happen to "Kind" people in this city
They distort
They flat out die
They become an outcast
The city beats the kindness out of them by force until they are forced to conform to cruelty
And tbh? Not loving how the community collectively treats some of them.
I mean, one one hand, we have people like Yuri- People LOVE Yuri. She never did a single thing wrong, and we can all agree-
But those who distorted or conformed? Seem to be collectively treated worse, while other OBJECTIVELY worse characters get off scot free
(*Note: Final essay will include more examples, these are the main ones I have off the top of my head)
--
For an example- Think back to Runia- I CRIED through Philip's plotline. I could clearly see the story of a man who- maybe wasn't the most courageous- who TRIED to help how he could- Got pressured so hard that he snapped and distorted under the pressure, becoming something that was beyond his own feelings, letting his distortion bury his heart to not feel that pain again- I LOVED that storyline, and then I come online and see him mocked for being some useless dipshit coward- THAT'S JUST SOME GUY- It's not his fault for being caught up in horrors beyond human comprehension (*Note: I checked his wiki for details. that man was only 24. He is younger than me. This man is barely an adult, no WONDER tbh)
--
Or my most... controversial character opinion, considering how I feel about Dongrang. Let me start with a disclaimer- I didn't read the books, and my opinion of him has exactly NOTHING to do with whoever the real life counterpart apparently is- I'm EXCLUSIVELY talking about the FICTIONAL character.
Limbus went out of their way to show that he'd, at least at some point, been a guy who was SO KIND that he was actively wasting his own money to help people/animals, and his co-workers ACTIVELY berated him about it- He wanted his tech to be healing, just so he could save people-
And then, of course, like every kind deed in The City, it didn't go unpunished- And to survive, he adapted. I'm not saying his actions weren't wrong- they were. I am, however, saying that I don't necessarily BLAME him for snapping.
He never WANTED to become like the other cruel people in the city, and even the cutscene images of him complying with it show him in visibly agony over it, and one image even shows him in tears- He never WANTED to be another cog in that awful machine, but when faced with that or utter destruction, he made a choice to survive.
Hell, half of him distorting himself was due to how guilty he felt for doing all of that in the first place-
Meanwhile, online, 90% of posts about him are "teehee I hate this piece of shit-"
--
For both of these that HAVE committed questionable acts in some way, I'm not saying I condone the things that happened. Because I don't. But I CAN feel sympathy and pity for them over the things that happened to make them what they became.
I can only imagine what the city would be like if kind people like them and others had been ALLOWED to be kind, without being punished for it.
--
And with all of this, all these characters who DARED to be kind, who DARED to fight back, even for a little bit, before inevitably being either physically or emotionally destroyed by the sheer weight of how this city works at its core- ...Some of the TRUE villains are treated better by the fandom then they are.
Canto III? Kromer- People go nuts for her- Some people even ship her with Sinclair, despite it all. She gets so much fanart. She gets SO many people ogling "ooo evil lady pretty", only for her to commit atrocities with a smile, and without a single slimmer of remorse.
Canto IV? Alfonso. Batshit insane, evil as hell- at least half the reason that characters like Dongrang ended up as fucked up as they did. You'd think "Wow- this is the person that made the person we hate the way they are, lets hate her too!" right? WRONG. Again, she gets the "pretty evil woman" treatment and people brush off her atrocities to ogle her. She also gets love by at least part of the fanbase.
And to that, WHY? I don't get it, genuinely. - Their actions?: horrible, terrible, not redeemable in the SLIGHTEST - Appearances?: You know what, I'll be honest- I think ladies are pretty (I'm Demi, but I can 100% enjoy a view) but I think these are actually two of the least attractive women I've laid eyes on. (Not the point of the post, and that's just opinion, but anyway)
And I'm not sure what causes it, honestly.
There are moments where at its worst, it almost makes me feel like the distant cruelty of The City isn't so distant after all- Those who are mostly kind, but fell into despair and tragedy, and turned into something worse get overwhelming hate-
Those who are evil, yet a bit more charismatic in approach become beloved?
Overall- Its a strange, curious tragedy of The City that the kind are often scorned and punished, and the evil stay beloved and in power-
It's just odd to see the mirror of that in the fanbase's reactions.
---
ALRIGHT GANG- That concludes my EXTREMELY rough draft of my eventual thing about The City's weird relationship with people who try to be kind, and the overall mirrored reactions of the fans-
If something in here is just rambling, or doesn't make sense, sorry- again, rough draft, but I thought it was worth sharing anyway
--
EDIT: Ok before anyone notices them not being included, I purposefully left out main LCB sinners and ESPECIALLY Dante, because though I could write about them forever, I want a little more canon content to work with before rambling about them in this post- They are a GREAT midpoint as someone who can't remember the cruelty of The City, and is now clearly struggling with the urge to stay kind in the face of The Horrors™- Honestly they were my main inspiration for this, but I DO want more info before writing about them fully, thanks <3

I think this episode put it even more into view now
like, the reason 3 still resents 4 so much is because of living in his shadow
it shows in a lot of ways, the more I think about it
christmas wars was a part of that, considering he wanted to throw a better party because he finally wanted to overcome him
you used to be cool him trying to establish himself again (but tbh it making him lean into this insecurity even more) but also showing that he cares, which once again, it's so obviously painful to him
also one of my fav episodes, the elevator
with the scene w their thoughts
this episode... it made me reinterpret it
like 4 is still just. bisexually checking him out, I'm sorry, I don't know how to see it any other way. just. him denying his attraction by roasting him inside his head is exactly what he'd do, yeah
but that "SMG4, I hate you" is so so genuine it stings like hell now. he means it, with his whole heart but he also doesn't (like considering how much he cares yknow. wotfi 2023, Perfect) he wants to mean entirely, but he cares too much about 4, and he especially did before like, christmas wars, boy's heart was absolute mush for 4, like that drawing.... he is so in love, it's stupid- but with christmas wars, then you used to be cool, him remembering why he even started to hate 4 all the way back then. And I think... even then... even now. he adored him. I think this whole duality could absolutely be interpretted all the way back.
Like, imagine being 3, seeing someone so amazing, you just can't help but adore so much you start to yearn- you start to get jealous, and it gets to you, and time doesn't heal you, it only makes the wounds bigger. you get closer to him, and it feels like things are better, although still healing. AND when you thought you're on the right track, you're right back there again, openly bleeding, bleeding for that all that deep hatred and adoration you hold in your heart for ONE person AND now this person is close to you too, and has to witness it, and has to care
remember the ep where 3 made his own studio and 4 made it go down thinking it was a scheme?
"You never really cared about me"
and now 4 does and I feel like 3 often wishes he didn't
also not to alarm people again, with the parallels, but the same way 3 helped 4 w the video making when shit hit the fan, 4 did that for 3 for his café
I'm- I'm just saying-
but. in the same manner I want to say. I hope to see these 2 work hard together again, Perfect showed it (they, TOGETHER literally made The PERFECT video), literally them using meme energy whenever, literally all moments of them working together showed that by god, when they get down to it, they can empower each other to the stars
and considering the amount of duality between him feeling jealous but also this time we see him open up and also 4 understanding and being there for him n stuff-
consider: instead of 3 just simply being corrupted
what if... it's both, in a sense? he just gets more and more of both things, more and more overwhelming- because even when he opens up- even when 4 listens- even when 4 HELPS- it doesn't save him from his fate. it doesn't save him from reaching his breaking point at all
he's gonna get there and we can't do anything about it. 4 wouldn't know what to do about it. all he could do is just... stand there. and watch. as it all goes down right before his eyes, because fate was so cruel to them in that way
and because I think one of the biggest things that will be at fault for it, is 4 not understanding him in time, because he's spiteful and doesn't see when he should be kinder to 3 instead of throwing mean words right back at him
who knows what kind of power that angst in 3 could achieve. considering, he was ALWAYS an angsty villain, with his newpowered angst he's not even used to, who knows where that might push him, even if he doesn't want it at all. Yet... fighting it is useless.
but hey, that's just a theory, an smg4 theory!

Saw your tag saying FSM haters come fight you. Here I am! Frankly I'm not so much of a hater as I am just of the opinion "wow this guy sure Started All This Shit" but I'm absolutely willing to hear your view of the matter if you're willing to share! Love some Friendly Fandom Discourse (it's healthy tbh) come at me bro 👊 👊 👊
HI LOL.... my personal opinion is that the FSM gets a lot of hate for similar reasons to wu (which i also think are unjustified but that's a different post). like you said he gets a lot of the blame put on him for starting everything that's to come in the show, but i don't really feel like he intended to do any harm.
the FSM was born into a war. when he was still a very young child, he was forced to choose one side of himself, of his family, and destroy the other. and so he ran away. but this world he runs to is chaotic and dangerous. and so again, he is forced to fight for the right to live in peace along with the inhabitants of this world.
but even in this new world, he wasn't safe: the oni followed him, determined to bring him back to fight for them. and after them, the overlord. his whole life, especially when he was younger, he had been fighting, or running from forces that aimed to destroy him.
i believe the FSM was incredibly paranoid throughout his life, worrying that at any moment everything would be ripped away from him. this can be seen in how secretive he was, how much of his history is hidden away. the mech used to win the war against the overlord was sealed away where it could never be found. he granted elemental powers to select people to help keep him safe. even in his death, he hid away, in a place that even wu could not find.
this paranoia carries on through his sons. he taught them both to fight, to protect themselves, when they were also very young. one of the earliest moments we see of them is them fighting with swords! and though he loves them, they are not immune to his secrecy, or his fears. when they steal the scrolls and enter the serpentine territory, he never fully trusts them again. when garmadon gets bitten and starts to turn to evil, he's desperate to cure him. and i don't fully believe that the FSM intended to make garmadon feel broken or "wrong"... just that his fear has so consumed him at this point that he can't see the damage he's doing to his children.
it's also worth noting that despite garmadon's corruption, the FSM never truly hated him. he was left to protect the golden weapons alongside wu, he recieved the same protective enchanted gi, and was left the same clues to find him after his death. it's just that garmadon was unable to see this through the corruption (which is another post).
perhaps all he did was to protect his sons. that seems to be how wu sees it, at least. because wu repeats this same behaviour with the ninja, even if unintentionally. he brings these kids into a war because that happened to him, and his father before him. maybe he doesn't even realise it's wrong. he hides things from them not only because because he's ashamed of his past (again, another post lol), but because his father always hid things from him. it protects wu, but it also protects the ninja.
i don't believe the FSM was a flawless person. hes one of many grey characters in ninjago, and to boil down everything he did to "good" or "bad" is a disservice. maybe you see him as someone who only ever ran from problems instead of truly solving them, maybe you see him as a cruel and neglectful father. and maybe those are both true. but he's also someone who always tried to fight for peace, for himself and everyone in ninjago, and someone who truly loved his sons, despite the damage he did to them both.
so that's who i think the FSM was. an immortal, all powerful godlike being, yes, but also a scared child who just wanted to live peacefully, and would do anything to prevent another war. and maybe he is, in some way, indirectly responsible for every bad thing in the show, but i think this is more of an after-effect of the countless wars and conflict. he did the best he could, and considering all he went through, i think he did alright.

My playlist as QSMP
(warning im shit at english lang so my interpretation of songs may be way off... im also ace and often miss romantic implication so.. yeah if a song has lyrics which are like about an s/o and i havent specified i probably dont mean for it to be shipping)
songs included: tongues & teeth (the crane wives), pink in the night (mitski), gb eating gb whilst listening to gb (crywank), going to brighton (fresh)
TONGUES & TEETH - The Crane Wives hideduo fit pov fit as a self serving survivalist from a wasteland experiencing love in this cursed fuckin island • "ive grown a mouth so sharp and cruel its all that i can give to you my dear" habits from 2b2t even little things like his lack of trust, hasnt confided his true intentions to anyone - constant lies by omission - hes flawed and hes recognised it • "if you're fine with that you can be mine like that" theres very much something going on with hideduo but fit is insistent on his baby steps bc he doesnt want to hurt pac. 'are you fine with that?' • "you gotta know that this wont last" this is soooo fit coded bffr. i adored the conversations fit n ramon had but one thing that stuck out to me was that he would always specify that only he and ramon would escape. never mentioned anyone else. selfish in the most understandable way • "i will ruin you, its a habit i cant help it" again 2b2t ingrained habits that never leave. linked w above point, hes selfish and that isnt necessarily a bad thing just not great for a blossoming relationship • "i will love u like the ashes in my cigarette box" hc 2b2t!fit smoked - ramon told him off once but now that the baby's gone hes picked it up again, a headcanon bc i cannot imagine ccfit smoking since hes such a health buff - feels so out of character lmao strong thoughts about qfit no one even try to fight me - his entire character occupies a space in my brain PINK IN THE NIGHT - Mitski phissa missa pov devotion easy • "i love you, i love you, i love you, i love you" • "can i try again and again and again" i dont think i need to say more - tbh this could go for guapoduo too but the "can i try again" made me think of missa + how he wants to live up to phils expectations
GB EATING GB WHILST LISTENING TO GB - Crywank phissa still missa pov
"in a busy room youre all i see" literally THEM sorry during the mexican independence event they were literally all they could see.. them doing the dance together - it may as well have just been the 2 of them + phil jumping in front of missa to take pics of him alone w/o him noticing
"calm down dont let her see how fast your heart is beating" missa saying "im speaking weird so the translator doesnt pick up, i love you" THIS GUYYYYYYYY
"i think about you but i know im not good enough" bffr mr missa "ill come back when im a good enough father" sinfonia
"and I built you up to much, now I can't say what's on my mind in case I go and scare you away" missa doesnt want to burden phil because he feels like hes been such a bad father compared to phils dedication - now that hes back he doesnt want to disappoint him anymore
"and how could i compete with the world at your feet" missa coming back to like 3 men at phils whim LMAO
"i wouldn't want to hurt you by letting you hurt me you don't deserve to feel guilty"
"i just want you in my life"
sorry im so obsessed with their puppy love GOING TO BRIGHTON - Fresh tubbo coded, i mean with the name i had to give it to him in my mind hes talkin to phil • "things i care the most about dont seem to ever get old" his excitement over everything even the simplest things is so refreshing • "i feel the fire inside me trains passing over head" his determination posing a unique threat to the feds and i feel like its such an important part of his character. also he likes trains :) • "there are things i learnt inside my head that they cant ever take away from me" lil bugs and just knowledge of the game make him a great bug tester for the admins lmao. this guy takes any chance to glitch his way through life
"starting over is a sign of strength"
also honorary mention to that one person who said the garden was codebreakerduo coded because you are so right and true and based and i think of that post everytime i listen to that song. being so normal by peach pit was very celltw (is that what pac and cellbit are called?) to me but i didnt really have much reasoning

I gotta say it’s definitely a Choice decision to have the brothers come across THAT memory immediately after the last memory of Leo acting like a major dickwad to Donnie
The absolute perfect storm for hella mixed up emotions that’s for sure
tho I gotta ask do at least ONE of the turtles attempt to immediately kill or attack Splinter as soon as the memory debacle is over? I know Leo of course would stop them, poor kid is still unfortunately very attached the Bastard but like still? would the others make that attempt? or at least trigger “The Reason Why You Suck” speech we’ve all been waiting for?
i’ll be honest i just really want see the boys finally knock their shitty shitty dad down a couple hundred pegs, push him off his high horse for once even if nothing meaningful changes afterwards between their dynamics
oversharing a little but many many times i’ve had screaming matches with my family and sometimes it would feel oddly cathartic because occasionally i would actually feel somewhat listened too afterwards?? and then would actually get better and be peaceful???
unfortunately that peace was almost always short lived and then everyone (i’m not above admitting that I include myself in that statement) would regress back to the same old shitty habits that makes living together so hellish for us all (
yea i just think its fun to hit em with the one two punch of Leo Being The Worst and Leo Being Abused. Just to really hammer home how much this situation SUCKS lmao.
I don't think anyone of them would try to kill Splinter, or even attack him tbh. but I can see Mikey blowing up at Splinter over supposedly unrelated shit afterwards. Like, he's mad at Splinter and he's mad at everyone but they all just kind of unspokenly agreed to not talk about it. And it'd be unfair and cruel to leo (no matter how shitty leo is) to bring it up.
Mikey is the most confrontational when it comes to Splinter. Raph is the one who tries to reason with their dad, but they're all pretty scared of him, so Mikey is really the only one who, like, SCREAMS at him. and this memory adventure shit would probably make Mikey furious at him for weeks afterwards so. it'd be unpleasant hah.
honestly tho it'd be a bit hard for me to write that cause im more of the Shut Down and Wait For It To Be Over because I'm Scared Of Yelling type of person. my siblings did the screaming matches. At most I would have a slightly heated/frustrated argument.

Trying to ride in the car with the household and instead of sitting peacefully while my wife drives I'm consumed with emotions about Legato because....??
it's Bluesummers Week
song lyrics got me feeling a way
Mental Illness™️
so now here I am trying to be normal while everyone else is having a regular time because I am NOT having a regular time. like. he's such a weird dude. he's fucking baffling and fucking nuts and canonically a literal fucking psychopath and he's so damn tired of everyone asking why he's so unflinchingly loyal to Knives, despite the way Knives treats him and, like, that entire mess.
Tumblr media
And like, I get it? Knives is so dismissive and cruel and Legato is so desperate to tear himself to pieces purely to serve Knives's every desire; of course it seems fucking crazy. Legato is not a stupid man. His intelligence and ability to actually get shit done are some of the reasons he's such a dangerous antagonist, and tbh the only thing holding him back is his crippling need to put his devotion to Knives far, far above his own basic needs.
Despite Knives's callous attitude towards him, Legato's loyalty doesn't falter, even after decades of service, and it just makes me wonder what the hell else is going on behind the scenes with them. Is it really just what we see? One instance of Knives saving him from utter despair is apparently enough to throw away all dignity and independence? Is it that he's been in servitude his entire life and he'd rather be in a cage of his own choosing? Are there countless missing scenes of them having any sort of interaction that isn't forcing Legato further and further beneath him?
Tumblr media
I'd like to think there's more but I'd also like to know what the fuck is going on in Legato's head. What's the reasoning? What's the rationalization behind all of it??? Like, don't get me wrong, I love me some fucked up loyalty but I also love thinking about what they're thinking and what makes it all come together.
But I suppose the most important part is that, even at the very end of his life, Legato considered their meeting the true beginning of his life, and he can die satisfied with living it fully.

I was talking to my sister recently about Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the topic of what I thought was the worst season popped up. Without hesitation, I said season 6.
And I stand by it. Everything in it, everything people are now saying is good actually, is only good on paper. Buffy depressed about being resurrected? And doing incredibly self-destructive things? Having to live without her mother and try and be a good guardian for Dawn? This is all good on paper! But the execution? We get a comedy episode for Buffy trying to get a job. Buffy getting, and failing at a new job, having to deal with both earning money and her duties as a Slayer could have been a short plotline where she couldn't balance it and it made things worse for her. It could have really shown just how much she struggled, and made her self-destruction hit even harder.
But it had to be a comedy episode.
I'm not saying Doublemeat Palace is the only example I have of how they fumbled showing her depression and inability to readjust after being resurrected. But it's the beginning of it, and indicative of how they fumbled showing it.
Willow and Tara having problems with their relationship? Even the best couples have conflicts. But the out of nowhere magic addiction? When it's never been hinted at that the reason Amy abused magic was an addiction, just moral failing when realizing what she could do with it? And then the sheer amount of shit Willow put Tara through? Tara was abused so badly by the writers. Fighting with Willow then having her memory wiped several times, breaking up with her, only to finally make up once Willow was able to admit she needed help only to be killed in the same episode?
No wonder Amber Benson was on board for the audiobook. Tara deserved better.
Xander and Anya? I'm sorry, Xander has a lot of flaws but he's not the type to leave someone at the alter just so Anya can have her own destructive arc. He'd be more likely to just call the entire thing off before the wedding if he was that afraid that it would turn into what happened with his parents.
The trio? Okay. So. I'm going to talk Arknights for a bit. After going through Code of Brawl, I joke about how much trouble Penguin Logistics gets into and how I don't know how they're still alive after their antics. But the difference between them and the trio is Penguin Logistics is also competent. Exuisai can lean out a car door to shoot rubber bullets at the essentially Italian Mafia guys chasing them and not die because she's, mechanically, a 6* unit who can be a boss killer on her own. This is nothing to her. Texas is the last surviving member of the Texas famiglia, and people constantly refer to her as very dangerous. Il Siracusano showed why. Of course being the driver and pulling off that shit is easy for her. In comparison, the only thing the trio has to offer is Warren was the form of "actually evil" that is oh you're evil evil. They should have never been a threat outside the fact Warren had no moral compass. They're constantly bumbling, and only a threat to Buffy because the plot said so.
Spike? Holy shit. He has more dignity than what he did in season 6, and the bathroom scene felt like a punishment for those who liked Spike enough to keep him around. Like "are you sure you like him? See! He's an irredeemable monster! Stop liking him." We already know Whedon hated how popular Spike was, and because of that, this incredibly out of character and just plain cruel scene can only feel like punishing those who liked him.
Tbh the more I think about it, the more I feel season 6 was a punishment for whoever wanted to keep it going. It's so unpleasant, and it is pretty much just dark for darkness's sake. The writing isn't strong enough to support anything they wanted to do and not have it come off as malicious. It's bad and no amount of good ideas can excuse execution.
Season 6 could have been a poignant look at grief, loss, depression, and self-destruction. Having a human being more evil than a demon and finally showing that the Willow we know really does have the capability to be as evil as her alternate vampire self could have been great, since we've never really had that. Even in season 4, the Initiative was more misguided than actually evil. Instead we got grimdark and out of character writing.
Season 6 sucks, is the worst season, and I will not be convinced otherwise.

Thinking about that anon ask about young Amillow in the princess au.
After their arranged breakup tm Willow's view of the castle and The Princess/then Empress shifting over the years. That she must be exactly like the sort of person Amity has become over the course of school, cold, calculating and cruel, coming to dread it when she gets her apprenticeship with Snapdragon. Only to find when actually meeting Luz that... no she's nothing like that.
Full on expecting a castle full of people that are just "Amity at her worst" (and in fairness that would describe a lot of people there, like Amity's roommates) expecting that obviously The Empress will be the worst one there, meanwhile Luz is still Luz in all her gentle brightness in spite of everything that's happened, still shining in spite of all the pain. Hunter is -though simultaneously a bitey angry overprotective wet cat- a surprisingly massive nerd once he lets his guard slip for one second, and even Amity sucks reasonably less than she did before and just looks at her with nothing but a sense of overwhelming longing and guilt.
AW. LOVE ALL OF THIS. thinking about hunter in the context of willow and amity delights me tbh. willow initially being like "okay, i've heard you're either her boyfriend or just her friend and i Don't Trust Like That" & avoiding him, and then she sees them argue n is like Hello. & hunter is like omg willow you have issues with her too?? i'm dying to shit-talk amity PLEASE have lunch with me.
and THEN willow makes some passing comment to him like "i'm surprised she backs off of you so quickly honestly, she must be really scared of you???" and hunter is like hahaha nah she's all bark and no bite. well. these days, anyway.
willow: .....these days??
hunter: oh you should've SEEN what she was like when she first joined the coven. wait no who am i kidding. it's you. You Know . You Know Her Whole Deal,

I feel weird about Nandor's behaviour, like it's such a regression? I know being thoughtlessly cruel is his whole brand but I feel like since the beginning of s4 he's been shown to be more attentive to Guillermo (I even told myself he's growing from being a dumb asshole into just a dumbass). But yeah ep 9 reverted all that, which is very disappointing. And tbh I don't think this Nandor deserves Guillermo at all, which Idk how to feel about ;(
It's funny. I've seen a lot of people saying this about Nandor, but he actually felt fairly on-brand for me. He did something horrific, but didn't realize that it was. Like I think he genuinely wasn't trying to hurt Guillermo, didn't realize he was, and when he figured it out, he tried (ineffectively) to fix it. If anything, I think he was just written as too dumb in this episode. That might be the real issue here.
I think the disconnect here is that this feels uniquely awful to the audience and to Guillermo. It just doesn't feel that way to Nandor. And I think that's the only reason why it doesn't totally ruin his character for me. It feels more like when he gave that glitter portrait to Guillermo, you know? We as the audience know that Guillermo was devastated and we were kind of devastated for him, but Nandor thought he was being a nice guy the whole time. He didn't understand how forgetting how long Guillermo had been there or making him think he'd get turned was cruelty.
I think the thing is that Freddie, like Marwa, was just a shiny to Nandor. I think Guillermo realized that, which is why he was so clear that this was his first and only boyfriend. This isn't like Marwa to him. Freddie was important. But I'm not sure that's something that Nandor could fully understand, even after Guillermo explained it to him. I think Guillermo might be the only person he's ever loved like that, so Guillermo putting it into terms of dating (so he thinks "like Marwa", so he thinks "collect them all, like wives") instead of truly losing someone you care about still just didn't get through Nandor's thick skull.
So him manipulating Freddie didn't feel any different than repeatedly changing Marwa to him. He never conceptualized it as taking anything from Guillermo because he didn't understand that the physical person wasn't the issue, it was the relationship they had built up together. (Fully hammered home by him then trying to give his own Freddie to Guillermo like a replacement goldfish.)
When Guillermo was sad, suddenly having this new shiny wasn't fun anymore and he sent him on his way -- with lots of crocodile tears of course. He still didn't even get why he did it.
To me, Nandor's actions didn't feel that odd to me. What felt much weirder was the way the writers approached this. It wasn't Nandor's cruelty that I found off-putting; it was the writers'. It was the meanest thing they've ever done in the show by far, and I can see why it crossed a personal line for so many viewers. Like that last scene! Guillermo going all the way to London to try and win his boyfriend back, only to see him cheating on him with his fucking clone. That was the writers' decision, not Nandor's. And an episode ending with Guillermo's genuine and shattering heartbreak was just a bridge too far for a lot of viewers. I get that.
(Side note: Harvey has been given some shit scripts this season but boy is he acting the hell out of them.)
Moreover, the way that the writers also didn't seem to realize that what was happening to Marwa was fucked up alarmed me a lot more than Nandor not realizing it.
Nandor is dumb and selfish and his dumbness makes him cruel. Okay. I get that. But what's the writers' excuse for all this? Why did they think we'd want to see this or find it funny? Why didn't they realize the implications of what they were doing? That's what I find more troubling in the long run...
As for Nandor "deserving" Guillermo... I mean, he's always been a dick who didn't deserve good things. Guillermo is also a terrible person who doesn't deserve good things. I think Guillermo might actually be the cruelest person on the show, and I stand by that. Like say what you will about Nandor, he never purposefully infiltrated "loser" spaces and made lonely people think they'd finally found a friend just so he could murder them and make fun of how nerdy they were to camera right after. Guillermo is so fucking mean! I wouldn't be surprised if he even made some people think they might be losing that virginity of theirs when he brought them home. Like why else would he be asking about it!
Guillermo is outwardly sweet, but he can be very selfish and cruel, just like Nandor. I think we forget that sometimes because he's so kind to the vampires. Really, though, I actually think they deserve each other. lmao. Nandor is Guillermo's karma for how awful he is to other people. (And really, I think Freddie would have picked up on that eventually... and I still think that would've been a much more interesting direction to take things...)
