sorry if this is a weird question or something you dont rlly want to talk about on a fandom blog, but i noticed youre in medschool! im a college undergrad freshman whos trying to get into medschool, and i was wondering if you had any tips on getting into medschools while still being an active member of fandom spaces?

Honestly, I think that depends on what 'active' means for you and what issues you think you would run into? I feel like it's a little cheap to say "plan your time well and take care of yourself" as my go-to answer for this question, but that really is what it boils down to when it comes to being pre-med or in medical school and still having time to do literally anything else in your life, fandom included. Most of the people I know in medical school that don't have time for other stuff are the folks that study in groups with Twitter open in another tab that I get like a dozen snaps from over the course of the eight hours they're in the study rooms, and not-coincidentally they're also the people that go, "It took me eight hours to study this one lecture and I barely got any sleep!"

Creativity and learning ability (and anything else that requires mental power) rely on you having free time, and also you being well-rested, well-fed, and well-exercised. There are always going to be busy times when you can't do as much of your preferred hobby as you'd like (as you have probably experienced even now in undergrad with finals week at the end of your first semester!) which honestly fucking sucks, but that doesn't mean that those times are permanent.

Aside from that: depending on what kind of fandom stuff you get up to, don't be afraid to put that shit on your CV and applications! I literally put fanfiction writing (especially zines) on my CV this past year when applying to residencies, and have had many people ask about it in interviews and think it was just the coolest thing ever that I do this stuff. Medical school applications basically require you to check certain boxes (grades, MCAT, at least 50 physician shadowing hours, some kind of job or volunteering), but because those are things that are basically required at this point, putting fun shit in your extracurriculars stands out. I was never the person who could hack spending my free time volunteering for things I didn't care about, but my extracurricular section was still full of things that stood out and people found interesting.

My AO3 doesn't really date that much fanfiction to when I was in undergrad (2014-2018), but that's mostly because I was busy doing elaborate Homestuck fantroll RPs instead, hahaha. I don't know how many hundreds of thousands of words I must have written of it during that time!

This is honestly so interesting to me because of how they dedicate themselves to Qlipoth the Preservation whos building Walls to seperate planets for some reason, but IPC wants to Connect planets while also helping the Amber Lord. its so interesting? almost makes u wonder if the IPC is even dedicated to Qlipoth or is simply an interastral corporate wanting their economic influence to dominate the entirety of the universe. But we do know one thing. WE ONLY HAVE *TWO* KNOWN EMANATORS OF PRESERVATION IN THE IPC, one is Taravan Keane one of the board members of the IPC whos rumored to not even be a follower of Qlipoth, the other is Diamond, Head of the Strategic Investment Department and Leader of the Ten Stonehearts...

THE TEN STONEHEARTS ARE ALSO KNOWN AS THE SENIOR MANAGERS OF THE STRATEGIC INVESTMENT DEPARTMENT. Their official like term / job title is "Non-Performing Asset Liquidation Specialists", theyre all handpicked by Diamond and given Cornerstones which are like a Gemstone that represents what theyre like good at and gives them the authority to borrow Diamond's power as the emanator of Preservation. So its like. They have powers too, but its from the cornerstones, and the cornerstones are given to them by Diamond who gets power from Preservation and the cornerstones are an extension of Diamond's powers.

ANYWAY. Topaz's cornerstone is the "Topaz of Debt Retrieval". Shes also the leader of the Special Debts Picket team and currently the lowest ranking (P44) and implied to be the or one of the youngest member of the Ten Stonehearts.

I love her a lot because of how assertive and confident she is while also prioritizing being kind to others and going with a soft approach first, shes like the customer service Queen. shes also rlly good at math which she actually hates bcuz ppl keep using her like a human calculator if she discloses that information.

ALSO ONE OF HER IDLE HAS HER SPEAKING IN ALL THE DIFF LANGUAGES HSR OFFERS (AKA EN, JP, CN, AND KR) ITS SO COOL ??? Also yes shes technically had to be in the IPC because of how her dying planet made a contract to basically all of them work for the IPC.

I love Topaz for her flaws and also her strengths, shes both incredibly . i dont know the word but its like when you rlly believe ur right and dont think anything else? Shes genuine in a sense that what she does she genuinely believes shes helping people, even though she also acknowledges the faults and bad sides of the IPC, she wasnt hesitant to literally say the IPC was going to use Belobog/Jarilo-VI for the resources and develop it in their own view of how they could improve the lands (aka basically a lot of restructuring and destroying the culture to improve it) but again shes like this because shes experienced it firsthand, how her planet with the most unliveable conditions started to Thrive under the IPC's influence despite it essentially giving up their freedom to work For the IPC. For Topaz she believes that the IPC IS THE ONLY WAY TO SAVE BELOBOG from its current slow recovering state after the stellaron crisis and corrossion that caused the eternal freeze to ravage the planet. That is of course until she saw that Belobog has its own way of survival, its own way of thriving without the need for IPC's meddling, that she steps down/backs off and immediately took the blame without asking for anything in return, just that shes only buying some time and it isnt possible to erase the debt completely. and in a way, I know that it didnt affect her much because she works for the sake of helping the world (in her mind) and not for the money, but it would still suck to get demoted and be known to fail at ur assignment even though you were doing a good decision for the sake of the native inhabitants of the planet. yes!! i have many but there r a few that i am thinking very hard about right now.

the main two are lumine and enna, a human witch and an elf priestess. lumine makes me insane a little bit i want to put her in a laundry machine. she is very very silly and mysterious, so no one else in the group really knows whats going on with her besides the fact that she likes to annoy them. she'll hint at her past in a way that explains nothing and deflect all questions, so we dont find much out until a backstory reveal. its a bit of a big plot twist so i do not want to elaborate beyond that but i am rlly proud of the backstory chapter i wrote.

enna is wonderful in my opinion. she worships a plant goddess that typically favors elves, so instead of being holy and loving towards humans she just gardens a lot and uses plant magic. her weapon is a giant spear she stole from the elven forest (that she ran away from) and in certain situations it can turn into a giant scythe. havent figured out how but scythes are cool so its gonna happen. since shes hiding from the other elves and doesnt want any trouble in human towns she typically wears bandages covering her whole face, so imagine a very short person that looks like a mummy in priestess robes, carrying a spear twice her size. she joined lumine's party after threatening her, immediately getting caught in a magic trap, then being invited to join peacefully bc lumine thought it was funny. lumine tries her best to bother her but enna Does Not Care at all. lets anything happen. lumine (very tall btw) uses her head as an armrest on occasion. she tried it on a different party member and immediately got kicked in a very painful place but enna doesnt mind. also she is haunted by a mysterious specter that only seems to appear during the night, as she does not sleep at all but DOES slip into a state where she dreams while awake. who could it be? we do not know

basically a few months ago i was thinking, how come there's a north wind (ofc its a toa oc😭) but not a south or west or anything? and so i made Mammatus, the south wind (also supposed to be an ex-member of the order), who was supposed to be in a fic (maybe two or three? idk the concept for it kept changing) i was gonna write but scrapped because i didn't like how i tried to set up the plot. but they control like clouds and lightning and stuff that's the best way to explain it? kinda like zeus in greek mythology but not at all at the same time. they also have cloud hair that was the one idea that stayed consistent throughout their development. okay so theyre an oc from toa, so i figure ill just describe his magic. i didn't rlly elaborate on it before. so basically, he can control the weather (similar to skrael, but he can only really make it snow and hail and the like) mammatus can make it rain, he can make hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.

cream - do you prefer tea, coffee, or cocoa?

definitely tea. theyd rather make it themself, too, because they don't want anyone else touching their drinks. also skrael had a habit of stealing sips while they weren't looking which lead to him getting his own cup whenever they made some.

- Haze is autistic-coded and I just never realized it! :v His special interests are about history, and boats, and historical boats. Haze also collects quills :v< He hates the sensory feeling of the elaborated outfits the other royals wear, so he's usually in a more simple, if dolled up tunic with loose sleeves. (but it works because they tend to see him on lower ranking anyway). He also stims with his hands a lot! Haze also struggles with literal thinking, so he doesn't Get it when girls are teasing and flirting with him. He gets quite irritated about it, actually (and I'm on the spectrum myself so boo, dont come for me if its inaccurate, im not diagnosing him)

The Nettecracker AU - (fantasy au)

- Tho he's fairly rare to come across, Hail has a secret guild thats registered in Cygni(kind of the capitol of magic and the study of it). the members meet up every now and again, and each of them are connected to a season of some sort :v they each live somewhere else in the world now. tho apparently they used to go on adventures when they were all younger or smthing idk :V

The School AU - (Modern AU)

- Peter never graduated, he doesn't have a GED because he took a leave of absence from school and never bothered going back :v any wild rumors about him he just says "sure" cuz he thinks its entertaining. So he avoids a solid job for the most part because he thinks he can't get any, and adamantly refuses to work at Diana's cafe like the other Puppe kiddos do

Robots (Modern AU)

-Goldenrods's family company for creating and manufacturing living robot bjds was going pretty well until there was an incident with one of the robots killed an employee of a well-established science institute. From there, the stigma of their builds never died in time for other bigger companies to pick up their ideas and put them out of business with offering cheaper and more producible designs :v Goldenrod and his father were both too stubborn about quality to lower the prices and match up to their competitors, especially with the new trend in smart phone accessory dolls, so...it just Died

the Shadows (Modern AU)

-Its been a consistent thing since the very beginning of my making the shadows that Bunny just wasn't welcome in them first by Nette, and now with redoing them, Hail won't let her go in now. I always sorta knew the reason but never had like a valid idea or story to come up with the why - or rather, not one that made any sense or wanted to bring attention to in RP. Seeing it from a more protective than mean POV now, I have a story, but I made it up literally yesterday so I won't be sharing it yet =<= or ever! who knows lololol

-okay since that didnt rlly give you anything, heres something else: Nette does corrupt from being in the shadows too long, being half human. He looses his cool pretty easily and has a recording of Mia's singing on his phone he listens to to calm himself down, unless she's there herself. - Bunnyplu don't have any sort of culture except to 'find a mate and procreate'. They dont have any sort of society, so Plu being the Bunnyplu Princess doesn't really mean fuckall, but she titled herself a princess from the moon anyway when she moved into the world, fell in love, and spread her babies across the planet. Plenty of other bunnyplu came to this world too, but the more "known" line of bunny aliens comes from Plu the Bunnyplu Princess.

okay i came across this pic and it reminded me of cherry pt 1 where y/n looking through her binoculars watching heeseung surf !!

and im also trying to compile a pinterest board for cherry but i’m struggling a bit to visualize y/n and her style bc i feel like she doesn’t wear the bright colors they did in the 80s, but she definitely has a few pieces in her closet (like her white sundress she wore on her first date w heeseung), but i see her gravitating towards the darker, more edgy, “boujee”/wealthy, bad girl, rebel, clean, sexy look so i’ve been looking through a lot of magazine editorials in 1986 but i feel like i keep visualizing in between a modern 50s and 90s for her (bottom line: I RLLY DONT KNOW WHAT TRUE 80s IS LMFAO), so i wanted to know what kind of persona you visualized for y/n when you were writing her like hair (hair has been the hardest since 80s hair all ab the VOLUME but i just can’t see her doing that style), makeup (obv cherry lipgloss!), clothes (day to day, nights out, swimwear, loungewear, under garments, sleepwear, etc), and anything else bc i think we can all agree she has an endless walk in closet with every article of expensive clothing there is

so i talked a bit about y/n’s style here but i’ll elaborate a bit!! she definitely doesn’t wear the super bright 80s windbreakers and legwarmers that you’d think of when you picture 80s fashion. she wears very classy, expensive clothes and probably dresses a bit mature for her age. modern 50s and 90s could actually describe her style pretty well!! lots of designer sundresses, high waisted jeans with unbuttoned dress shirts (yacht fashion!!), tight black dresses for nights out, elegant jewelry, etc etc. anything she wears is going to look classy because she’s the one wearing it! (also for underwear and pajamas, everything is matching sets. cannot stress this enough: she is very rich and very classy 😭)

as for hair and makeup, i left that a bit ambiguous on purpose!! i wanted anybody to be able to picture themselves as her, so she can have any hair type or any style of makeup! 😚😚💕

and as for that last part: YES. she turns heads everywhere she goes because she just has a certain aura about her that makes people want to know her name. and i can confirm that heeseung STILL gets nervous when she walks in the room </3

quick ramble abt lor again but i love the ensemble receptions so much. i'm at chesed's rn, and i know he's been chill the entire game, but him just refusing to comment on jae-hoon's tragedy seems, out of context, a dick move, but also is so important for chesed to do? he recognizes that another's suffering is not related to him, that he can't do anything about it, and that this is fine. The closest i'd describe chesed in lobcorp would be "activist burnout." Due to betraying the lab from garion's pressure, chesed was so consumed by guilt, he just blamed himself for everything and became more callous because it's already his fault, right? There's nothing he can do. But in lor, he knows what his responsibilities are, and allows himself joy where he can find it. I love the ensemble receptions bcuz they are just examplary of each patron libriarian's growth and i iqbfjc (sobs)

i wanna specifically dig into this scene more because i love that scene, a lot.

Art as we get to know it in the City is irrevocably tied to violence. Puppets are made of human bodies, music is played on bones and sinews. To the artists of the City, to create art is to make someone suffer. Rewatching Netzach's story bits, Roland describes it as doing nothing but seeking stimulation and being provocative.

Furthermore, there is a direct comparison between art and alcohol. To paraphrase more, the Pianist must've been one hell of a stimulant, like getting hit by a strong booze. A performance some are still hungover from.

Netzach's main struggle was addiction because of depression, and his growing appreciation for art is a continuation of that arc. He says himself that art and alcohol are linked.

However, alcohol is a step down from hard drugs. Netzach hasn't quit, but just that step down shows he learned moderation, which makes me very proud of him.

Moderation is what the other.. let's just call them artists, lack. I said in the screencaps above, initially, Netzach was lost in his own suffering, and the musicians of bremen are lost in their art. And if art is seen as equal to suffering, that just means Netzach and Bremen are more similar than expected. (Especially considering what we see of the musicians previously; they’re always trying to chase the same high they experienced listening to the Pianist by any means necessary. The addiction parallels are not suprising.)

I rewatched most of Netzach's lor scenes, and what rlly gets me is that in his first one, he seems almost the exact same as in lobcorp. He doesn't want to work, he got dragged into this against his will, he feels as if his accomplishments are futile.

But! He eventually invites Roland for drinks. He's not drinking to forget alone anymore, he's doing it as social activity. Furthermore, the more time he spends as Patron Librarian of Arts, the more he grows to appreciate art. Art is tied to suffering, still, but it is an expression of suffering. It does not produce any. Or should not, in any case. He sure wishes it wouldn’t.

So we arrive at his Ensemble Reception. This one makes a rather interesting comparison: art as the pursuit of the light. Let me elaborate.

To quote, “Honestly, I wanna tell people to stop doing the kind of art that requires ‘em to immolate themselves and others. Although, on the other hand... I can kinda see where they’re coming from. Art narrows your vision, after all.

You stop caring about the things around you. That’s how most artists seem to act, I think. And so, you indulge in the craft, not realizing that you’re throwing yourself and your surroundings into the fire you started.”

I pose this: Netzach speaks of his experience as Giovanni. Giovanni was a researcher who, when push came to shove, willingly sacrificed himself to advance the project, in hopes of seeing the light, seeing Carmen, again.

Though he dislikes Bremen’s actions, he does not judge them for it, because he recognized that it would be hypocritical. Even so, what shows that he’s grown is that he.. doesn’t want to see people harm themselves anymore. The focus here isn’t if Bremen hurt other people, which they have, but how much of themselves they’ve given up for their performance. He condemns the act, and not the people.

“If I can see that light once more... If I have to muster up the courage to reach it, I’ll gladly do it. It’s easier said than done, though; you need a lot of fearlessness for it.

And I guess you saw the same kind of light I was so desperate to see, yeah? Even if yours was a twisted creature... [...] Though, I don’t think I can tell you off like the others. At least I can see the reason behind it.”

He even explicitly mentions the light. The funny thing is, both Giovanni and Bremen tried to reach the Seed of Light, and Carmen. It’s tragically hilarious that we know Carmen is the voice the Distortions hear.

Hell, the more I think about it, the more you can just compare the Ensemble as a whole to the Outskirts Lab crew, down to Angelica’s puppet body and Carmen’s desecrated corpse.

“And I know pretty well that we have no right to devilishly pick apart each other’s way of art. I’m not very proud of mine, really...”

Netzach just.. gets it. I can’t remember atm, but I don’t think the other Patron Librarians really draw parallels like that. I’m seeing all the parallels now and I can’t unsee them ever. Bro.

His “art,” his way of protecting the light, is still violent. But he sees that perhaps it didn’t have to be, or rather shouldn’t be. I fucking love Netzach so much. His arc just means a lot to me personally, and I’d wager a lot of people who’ve struggled with mental illness would agree.

I’m not gonna get into Netzach’s floor realization here because this post is already long enough, but like, look at the specific flashback of Angela shown in Netzach’s story bits and contrast it to his arc of learning to want to live, and. Yeah.

how i feel about this character: 😬 ngl i... don't care for him. at all. i don't vehemently hate him, there's definitely times where i appreciate him & his personality but it's few and far between and i... genuinely do not get the hype. i think its mostly mcu fans' fault for my dislike, its just he's fucking EVERYWHERE now, it's impossible to miss him? like he plays a big role in EVERY avengers comic now, he gets ongoing titles all the time, and it's just so frustrating especially when you consider characters who used to be more or less on the same level on them (like hank pym! who, by the way, has been dead for 6 consecutive years! that would never happen with tony!) or even more popular than him now get streamlined because of the mcu's popularity. by himself, i don't really mind him that much, but with how famous he is now and how large and frankly annoying his fan base is i just... now really do not like the character.

all the people i ship romantically with this character: short list here; reed, because i find their dymanic of reed as someone who does everything for his family and will do everything and anything he can to protect their interests above everyone else but also wants to keep his hands clean and believes, genuinely, in the good of the world, and tony as someone who will do horrendous things in the name of the greater good who always has the bigger picture in mind interesting. i also don't know a lot about it but he seems cute with rhodey? even if i think rhodey deserves a bigger chance to be his own character away from tony as is sometimes denied i can always appreciate a good best friends to lovers dymanic :)

my non romantic otp for this character: um? i honestly don't know 😭 i don't like him enough to say, i guess him n reed again? him n rhodey again? help 😭😭😭

my unpopular opinion of this character: he does not deserve the fame he has. like, i dont mean to sound jealous or whatever but pre 2007 movie he was not the most well liked character or even that popular. like obviously he had fans because he had solo series on and off for a very long time but it just feels SO ridiculous that tony stark has a bigger fandom than the fucking fantastic four. THE FANTASTIC FOUR. marvel's first superhero team, and yet??? like okay. he might have things to offer i don't see. he obviously does, i mean, he got three movies and multiple solo series. but he has most certainly not got enough as a character to overshadow the fantastic four, the x-men, etc and i will never forgive the mcu & mcu fans (and mark miller, he deserves blame too) for making it so. again, by himself he's fine but it is ridiculous to me that a one note white character that appeared in his third film (harley keener or... whatever) has 2000s more fics than THE PROTAGONIST OF INTO THE SPIDERVERSE, MILES MORALES. it is just... so vile and frustrating to me.

how i feel about this character: HE'S MY BOY! I LOVE HIM SO MUCH! like i guess it's paradoxical considering how similar he is to tony in some ways but man i just love reed so much. i so genuinely think reed richards is what tony stark fans want him to be. like they (mcu fans) make up elaborate headcanons of him being a good dad and an ethical billionaire and its like no that's reed richards? canonically he's gone broke bc he refuses to get money off his inventions... u have the wrong man... anyway he's also an asexual LEGEND i do not take criticism and ofc. autistic icon. literally he's so autistic it makes me <3 i love him dearly.

one thing i wish would happen/had happened with this character: I WANT A CANONICAL AUTISM DIAGNOSIS NOW. literally he is SO autistic & there are... no big autistic marvel characters! at all! literally none! the closest we have is legion (who was written in an incredible ableist way and autism hasnt been used to describe him in a solid 30 years) and monet (and it turned out it wasn't monet but one of her twin sisters impersonating her :/) so it would just mean so much to see a canonically autistic character like reed who is older & has a wife and kids who he loves and who they love in return on panel. like so much of the rep we DO have is like, young kids or teens and idk an autistic adult would just mean so much to me. especially one like reed who is as selfless & loving as he is.

i love reading these types of tweets, just people talking about the character in canon, analysing what furudate was trying to depict when he wrote these characters. also the phrase “monsters can only thrive among monsters” ???? fuckjng love that, so much to unpack tbh.

idk i just rlly want to see these characters thru the eyes of the author. it’s hard for us readers when 1) we don’t know the thought processes behind the making of each character, and 2) many characters we only see on the volleyball court. but people act differently in different situations. i know it’s a pipe dream but i always hope for more canon haikyuu content outside of volleyball, just regular slice of life content, just teens being teens (i know haikyuu-buu exists but it’s not confirmed to be canon so 💀)

Which you know what is interesting is the way each can be laid out for each characters struggle with loneliness and how Sakusa’s is clearly the easiest to identify and yet people chastise him almost the most (Have y’all ever met only children? They can be a little weird and I’m married to one ok so I get it) But ironically Bokuto is one I never thought about (though I’ve thought in depth over Akaashi’s bc he latches to the 3rd yrs and then gets physically left alone) 

Bokuto’s loneliness is weird bc of course when Furudate let out who has siblings (which I got way too nerdy about that bc the family dynamics were real obvious after Furudate gave us siblings to characters) Bokuto is the youngest among three and anyone who’s ever had/known three kids is the baby is almost always the golden child in some way. On purpose or not. Like how much older are the sisters? Are they close? Did they baby Bokuto and that’s why he’s so focused on the team? (bc he needs someone to not really “take care” of him but at least guide his emotions at least) We see Oikawa’s sister is obviously old enough for him to have nephew that old so clearly they weren’t raised too much together (age gap) But Bokuto being the baby among two older siblings (female) in an Asian family really would speak to his need for attention bc he’s 1. The baby and 2. The only male child. Not faulting Bokuto at all bc like, he could really be a dick but he’s not. Which makes me feel like the sisters are closer in age bc if you’ve ever had siblings you know your ego gets to be in check no matter what. Bokuto’s loneliness is just something fun to pick apart bc it’s not exactly loneliness (or at least I don’t see it that way) like out of all of them he’s def seeking validation more than anything it feels like. Anyways- Sorry I’m rambling I like character analysis way too much XD

But god yes the lack of content outside the volleyball realm drives me crazy. Especially post high school in that short 5 year span before MSBY v Schweiden. Which this is my total bias talking but I constantly want to know when and how it happened that Kageyama just, mellowed out. He’s reintroduced not even really with a scowl. Totally unphased by the dumbshit Hoshiumi does, he’s surrounded by little kids (which I still wanna know when kids started to like him bc he’s the only one seen with a lot of younger fans repeatedly) and he smiles like a lot. Growth from the MSBY team always circles back (for me at least) for the four of them being together and growing like that. But Schweiden doesn’t have that substitute brother feel? I mean I think Kageyama and Ushijima get along real well (simpletons) but what about the other teammates? (Hoshiumi still has feral vibes that never leave I love him for that) But Kageyama was with them graduation on basically so who helped him mellow out? Who had such an impact on him that Kageyama kinda relaxed back into his interested, wide eyed and calm middle schooler self who was just enjoying playing volleyball. Like, Furudate??? You can’t just give me my man vibing being sweet and dealing with Hoshiumi’s bullshit and not tell me when it happened?? Was it personal life growth?? Was it the team?? FuruDATE GIVE ME ANSWERS

No one ever really points this out (or at least I haven’t seen it) but the two panels we get of Suna timeskip he’s smiling. I don’t know why but I just feel like that speaks to his character a lot. That he’s actually really a happy individual he just hated high school. He was in the lowest academic class, he loved volleyball but hated any variation of the twins and Kita and he was good at what he did but never really shined over having to deal with everything else. Which I mean he’s def not a spotlight kinda guy but even when they’re watching past games for prep Ukai has to point out Suna is the main point getted for Inarizaki (bc everyone is focused on the twins) I dont know...I just kinda find Suna interesting bc he’s seen as almost mean but timeskip Suna is smiling, chatty with Komori and good enough to be in the top leagues. He always struck me as one of those kids who hated school but was incredibly smart. Which is why I probably liked canon Suna a lot quicker than whatever the fuck the fandom depicts him as. (not to mention the being the older sibling so anyone who’s older knows you tend to be the emotionally calm one to not stir the pot and keep things calm at home which would really explain Suna’s deadpan look a lot just from personal experience as the eldest child)

oh i SO do!! i gotta give some context on my regular cherri first bc i never go into his gender in fics bc it just like. has no way to come up and i think it helps give an insight into things (and its my blog and i want to /lh)

bc like. my regular cherri is a ‘man’ hes ‘male’ but in my universe(s) the desert has incredibly loose concepts of gender and nothing is enforced widely so theyre just kinda fun labels and they dont rlly mean anything. so cherri would be like, “cis” by modern standards (amab and identifies as “male”) but he rlly had the whole choice of genders in front of him and was like ‘yeah this is comfy’ hes cis in a very nonbinary way if that makes sense

but twitter cherri has a different backstory than regular cherri bc it didnt get raised around ghoul (thats its whole own thing and this post would be so long if i got into it now). it got raised around newsie (zie’s either a few years older or theyre twins i havent rlly decided yet, zie’s the older sibling regardless tho). which gave Cherri a different outlook on like? gender and stuff especially once childhood ended and it became a wavehead and newsie started up their (both of them) scheme as [redacted] and it was very much the two of them like, looking at the people that they worked with/around and sdkjfh basically pronouncing all of their gender vibes as rancid. like not outwardly. they dont talk abt gender. but internally they see ppl with their genders and gender presentations and were like ‘huh. that fuckin sucks lmao couldnt be me’

so cherri like. understands and identifies with masculinity but it does so in a way that it feels is wholly unique to itself (and its not gonna talk to anyone else to confirm or deny this) and on top of THAT its got weird relationships to personhood from like. being a wavehead

bc as much as the desert is like. ‘nondiscriminatory’ it does sure have a lot of weird prejudices abt waveheads (not so much other addicts, mostly just waveheads) and they dont get seen as like. people. theyre part of the scenery and theyre to be pitied and/or ridiculed but theyre not meant to be talked to or sympathized with and how much of that are You gonna put up with before deciding “okay fuck all of you. you dont want me to be a part of this? im not.”

so twitter cherri is very much isolated and dehumanized by the society around it and further has no real interest in getting along with people other than its sister (which was a thing even before the waveriding stuff) so. it/its cherri cola

(in more direct terms both twitterverse cherri and newsie are nonbinary, but theyre brother and sister, it/its for cherri and zie/hir for newsie)
