* the biggest players are Scorpio/libra placement men by FARRR. They’ll flirt with anybody and they’ll befriend people who they know for a fact are interested in them romantically. you and dokyeom, being child development majors, wanted experience working with children, which is how you found each other side by side in a daycare. you actually didn't have to do much searching as dokyeom was the one who introduced you to the job saying that another one of his friend’s applied a while back. at first, you found yourself having a hard time getting along with the younger crowd, but the kids attached themselves to dokyeom instantly. you were the stricter one of the two while seok was a bit nicer letting the kids do whatever they please. as the time went past you didn't exactly know how you and seok became so close with each other. he was just another guy on campus. you thought to yourself “when was it?” “when is our timeline?” wait our timeline… nevermind.. but maybe it was that time when he left a handprint on the back of your pants. or the time he took you out for dinner after a bad experience with one of the parents. it was moments like those that made you care for him. it got so bad that even your students caught on to your feelings and asked if the two of you were married when you showed up with flowers from him. it was like time moved slower in the daycare and it was just you and him. you promised yourself you wouldn’t fall in love with your coworker but you couldn't help yourself from falling for his charms. and now here you are as the day comes to a close at the daycare center you wait at the pick up at the front gate accompanied by the kids in your class.  

 “hahaha! teacher yn is it true you think mr.lee is cute?!” one child is heard screaming around. 

“i heard that from the other teacher mr.boo, that he saw the two of them kissing!!” another squealing child at the others.

you continue to defend yourself against five year olds and as you frantically try to wave your hands in denial a voice from behind you causes the attention to shift. 

“hey, i’m not a big fan of rumors, kids. his voice said “butttt i wouldn’t mind if they were true” seokmin chuckled as he stood right behind you. his group of kids followed from behind. after hearing his response the kids couldn't help themselves with laughter and whispers, carefully watching you two as if they were watching a rom-com.

“S-SEOK- I MEAN MR. LEE!!!” you started stumbling on your words. “since, when did you-” you turned to face him, eyes wide-opened. You wouldn’t call yourself clumsy with your words, but with your feet that was a different story. 

you didn’t know how but you now had two left feet, tripping over yourself and lost your balance. to your luck there was a nice pair of strong arms to catch you. (a/n: okay me when)

“yn, you okay there? it looks like you’re a bit nervous, aren’t you?” he smiles while trying to keep hold of you. 

“ahaha .. thanks for catching me mr.lee” you skittishly answered.

“you’re very welcome and .. i wasn’t lying when i said i wouldn’t mind rumors being true.” 

“i don’t really.. mind either.” you didn’t know where the confidence came to say that but hey you’re glad it did.

“great i’ll pick you up at eight then!” he spoke out as an onslaught of cheers erupted from the children.

when you and mingyu started dating you would compare him to a puppy. he was energetic, excited, and playful with you. and he always wanted to be by your side all the time. this was hard though as mingyu was a well established idol. and when you two finally got together, mingyu was needy… and i mean NEEDY. he always wants you to pamper him with love and attention but you thought it was time he put in the work as well. so you hatched a plan with some of the guys and on the days just like this one. you managed to sneak off to the group practice and bring them food. upon greeting everyone, handing out food and avoiding mingyu’s several attempts of flirting with you. with a quick motion you signaled to the boys to start the mission. unaware and infatuated with you as usual. mingyu didn’t really notice anything odd, it was like any other day you visited. yeah you were close to the others but it wasn’t anything to get upset about at least that's what he thought. until.. strike one was when you asked for an intimate lesson with junhui offering him to teach you one of their dances. mingyu just brushed it aside thinking to himself, “hey i’m a dancer too, yn we could always have a session together?” strike two was when you innocently went over to jihoon and got a bit too touchy with his hyung’s arms. mingyu became pouty as he leaned against the wall of the practice room. “does yn not like my arms anymore?!” and finally strike three was with the head rub from wonwoo. it wasn’t that special or anything but that was his job not wonwoo’s. something sparked in mingyu’s head as he grabbed your arm and ran outside of the practice room with you.

“yah yn what the hell was that?!” mingyu demands to try and understand. as he drags you out of the room releasing his grip when the two of you are alone. the idol has always been a bit loud but hearing his voice like that wasn’t the response you had wished for, he was a bit hurt now.

“m-mingyu it was just a little teasing, nothing else!” trying to defend yourself on thin ice was harder than you thought it’d be

“really yn, i'm not blind i can see you in there practically throwing yourself on the others like that!??” 

“mingyu listen to me, it was only to get you jealo-” as the sound of mingyu’s hand slamming on the wall a few inches away from your face. as you feel weak in the knees shrinking down as he isolates the both of you against the cold wall outside of the practice room.

and through the corner of your eyes, you could see some pairs of eyes peeking through the door. as you tried to hold your composure to smile, this was all just a little joke.

“no you listen here yn..” mingyu deepened his tone while he moved in, enclosing the space between you two.

“i- im listening..” you mustered out unaware of how you were going to get yourself out of this predicament. 

“yn, you drive me crazy and i can’t control myself.. i just want you to pay attention to me and only me. don’t go talking to the guys too much” you finally give in to mingyu’s little antic and lean into his chest looking up at him. “hmm.. im hearing you out mingyu promise but where’s my attenti-” you started to complain as he cuts you off pressing his lips onto yours. 

as he breaks from the kiss he looks down at you and smirks “there you go yn satisfied?”

as a new couple there's always so many ups and downs. so many people telling you and minghao what you guys shouldn’t and should be doing. and that because of the differences between the two of you and him. that it wouldn’t work out in the end but against the odds you two opposites still managed to find some common ground. how you two lovebirds managed to cross paths was  through bumping into him at a museum. and as the story goes “apparently” you had stepped on his very expensive shoes and he had some nice comments to say about your outfit. that’s not how you remember it happening but that’s for another day. a few months into the dating period the band’s tour season had started soon, and while you managed to keep yourself together through delusions and winning a fancall with minghao. (more like begging seungcheol to rig the odds) minghao was not faring as well, the timing just never lined up with his free days and you had your own business going on. minghao was a bit fed up at this point, missing you to an extreme that he had never experienced before. as cheesy as this sounds, you were such an important part of his life now. and all your teasing him over the phone wasn’t making this any easier on him. so he took it upon himself to catch you off game, and surprise you at your job with a bouquet of flowers and some gifts. opening up the cafe doors to greet customers but instead greeted with the sight of your boyfriend. and as much as you put on the facade that you were fine, telling your coworkers that you were the stronger one in the relationship seeing him physically was a whole different story. at the ring of the bell the two of you greeted each other with a kiss.

“myungho .. i’m sorry i can’t keep this up, it’s been so hard.” hiccup you managed to choke out as you couldn’t help the tears falling down your cheeks.

“yn you, don’t know how difficult it’s been without you,” minghao responded, cusping your face. 

“myungho” hiccup “i missed you so much, please don’t leave me anymore” you pleaded crying into his hands.

“yn what am i going to do with you.” minghao sighed as he held back his own tears. wiping your cheek with his hands. 

all the tears you tried to suppress inside, kept pouring down your face. it had been too much for the both of it was like the world wanted the two of you together. 

you couldn’t form a response besides nodding in agreement and sobbing out i love you, i miss you and the ongoing repeat of his name.  

“y’know, i just look for your face in every pretty thing i see. in the flowers i brought, the porcelain tea cups. i guess it’s just me seeking some semblance of you to comfort me.” he couldn’t help smiling even when the tears fell.

it felt like the two of you were the only people in the world. but you weren't (a/n: get back to work yn) as a voice snapped you both into reality. “erm sorry to bother but i was wondering if i could get my coffee like right now?!”

as a rookie idol group you prepared yourself for almost anything. it was for your group in the long run. whether it’s an embarrassing moment on stage, your members embarrassing you on camera, or dropping the camera on a live show. you needed to have the mental fortitude to keep up your mean and silent image the company pushed on you. even throughout many different activities such as variety programs, advertisements and award shows, the persona is active while the real you is pushed to the side. something did change when you met seungkwan though. it was only a few months after your first comeback that you and kwannie met on a variety show. your manager said it was “something about putting rookies and their senior idols together” and while you were hesitant at first your group members begged you to join the program. you really needed the exposure for your upcoming comeback and your team was hoping for their first win soon especially after the way the debut went. fast forward to the start of filming and you are accompanied  by many new and household names in the industry. to your surprise you were partnered up with seungkwan of seventeen. while you tried to keep up the facade, the natural charisma and humor of the veteran idol had you breaking character more than you would like to admit. and seungkwan understood the life of a rookie idol and wanted to provide you some screen time with your real personality being showcased. his quick comebacks and sassy personality paired with you firing back on an equal level had the other idols immersed and the directors very pleased. you would say filming with seungkwan was just a good opportunity and that was all  but you couldn’t help yourself to feel your heart jump a bit. the comments that mentioned the chemistry between you and seungkwan throughout filming. the way his eyes followed you throughout the show, the energy and supportive spirit throughout the challenges you two participated in. you couldn’t stop the butterflies in your stomach, and a few days after filming was done, you received a notification that somebody had “accidentally” liked a photo of you on his instagram and a direct message from none other than the man himself.

coming home from a long day of practice you laid in your dorm scrolling through your social media as you were greeted to the noise of your ringtone.

you stared at the caller id unsure if this was a prank or not, before you finally answered.  “hello? seungkwan? what’s up?” you question genuinely confused due to how late he decided to call you. 

“yn, hi! it’s boo seungkwan erm.. i’m sorry that I'm calling this late but i was wondering if you wanted to hangout sometime?” you could overhear some voices in the background and the sounds of seungkwan moving around. 

“err- do we need to reshoot some scenes or did you need me for something?” 

“no!!  y-you did great during the show but i uh..” seungkwan tried clearing his throat, to ease his nerves. “this is just me asking…that i’d like to get to know you more off camera.” 

“i also…missed your beautiful face” he adds with a blush on his face. 

you couldn’t help the smile escaping your lips as you responded “of course seungkwan, i would love that….and i missed yours too”

you had finally made your first big break! as an actor in the industry for a few months now things weren’t looking the best for you. only minor roles for one episode or scene or just filming as a background extra with no lines. your manager surprised you with good news! you were to be casted in a romance drama as the main lead. you were confident enough that you would finish this project with no issues. but the only problem was when you found out that you were working with an idol did shake you off your game a bit, just enough to make you sweat. during the first round of filming you weren’t too aware of the idol you were going to film with just their role. you two were filming as a pair of high school students who are in a weird romantic situation, your manager told you it was something similar to the k-drama twenty-first century girl. vernon was a simple yet emotional guy underneath that intimidating exterior was a genuine person who cared for the success of the drama and the hardworking people making it happen. while you both shared the same thoughts of wanting the success of the drama, filming wasn’t the best. you two weren’t the most.. natural there was this awkwardness in the air and the on camera chemistry was nowhere to be found. the casting director and the staff really fought for the both of you to keep your roles. so what better way to develop some chemistry than to go on fake dates… and in the end it worked out for the best. you two managed to find your balance in and off camera together. 

cameras rolling 

as the rainfall embraces you and vernon for the climax of the drama. the two of you are standing in the middle of the campus’s baseball field as you proceed to read your character’s line. “.. so it wasn’t just a dare.. did you actually end up falling for me that night..” 

“tell me i’m not just another one of those stupid.. lovestruck people.. p-please” you managed to spit out as your kept getting your real emotions caught with your character’s.

he cupped your face and let out a big sigh.. “and if i said i fell for you that night.. would you let me hold you for the night?” at this point you couldn’t distinguish acting for reality. your emotions were at their peak and you just went with your gut. afterwards you pushed yourself into his arms and you could feel his warmth as he held you in his. 

“and cut!” the director shouted out “that was an unscripted moment but hey we could work with it” as the cameras stopped rolling and the two of you stood still you felt a pull at your arm and heard a whisper in your ear. 

“you know.. i wouldn’t mind taking you on a real date after this yn.”

“oh and by the way.. your lips tasted sweet” (a/n: me when.. when will i get told this .. i use the fenty lip oil for a reason..)

college student lee chan.. just need to be honest with you. it's simple that he wanted to be more than whatever you two had going on. he had his share of flings and situationships before and just like the others he promised you. that it will be nothing more than friends with benefits. and when you were done that was it, and he agreed for the most part to this arrangement. telling himself he could be mature about this one, to not catch feelings. but some small part of himself was sure that you felt the same way. at least that’s what he assumed. it was because of the way you brightened up his life, the influence on chan made something in him change. he caught feelings. so his friends kept egging him on to confess to you under the cherry blossom tree. chan practiced in his dorm mirror for about twenty times he needed to get this confession done right. perfect almost.. but everything was far from perfect. the gloom took over the sky, the trees lacking their pink hues, and you.. holding the hand over another. you looked radiant even in this melancholy you caught his attention. even in a crowded arena you always could.. chan fell … his head was spinning, he wanted to run to you, it was supposed to be his hand that should have been enveloped with yours.. and as much as it hurt he knew. he couldn’t do anything, it wasn't your fault he knew you would eventually fall for somebody else. a playwright would call him the other woman. if he would have just expressed his feelings sooner he wouldn't have ended up being the second lead in this drama. he cried that night, lee chan had always been the heartbreaker but never the heartbroken until now… he needed to do something and fast. 

you had gotten off a call with your current partner, walking through the halls of the university as you felt a light pull at your wrist turning around to the source. “c-channie you scared me!?”

“why didn’t you just tap me on the shoulder or tell me it was you?” you shared your general surprise at the male student standing in front of you.

he sighed before opening his mouth “what do you not want me around any more?” out of all the things you thought he would say that wasn’t on your bucket list. 

“chan.. that’s not what’s happening here we had an agreement.. you know better than anyone in this type of relationship a friends with benefits” you sounded off, this is not the person chan fell in love with. he was under the impression you’d be understanding of his feelings or at least what he was implying.

“that one of us would end up alone in the end… it’s a special bond, something intimate, but it’s also fragile as hell.” you pull your wrist away from his grip taking a few steps away from him. 

“yn .. i can’t do this anymore, i didn't know i could never value intimacy, our time together.. until i saw you with someone other than me…. “ the desperation in his voice matched the neediness of his stare. the stare that would haunt you till the end of time. 

“chan..” you cupped his face “i’m sorry but i moved on.. and it’s time you should do the same.”

“n-no i-” and then came his tears .. and then came the rain.. 

“maybe in another time we were destined to be together channie… but this time i wasn’t the one...” you gently wrapped your arms around his torso for the last time. and disappeared as fast as the downpour came.

i think the moment she met him she went into older sister mode. not out of like, a need to baby him or whatever its actually the opposite he is so machiavellian and uppity and willing to escalate a situation that she was just like right yeah this is exactly how marik is. hes at that age, where boys like to blow up buildings in death matches.

for the aforementioned reason i think thats also why he gets to see a slightly more impish side to her she doesnt really share often. the banter is dry and fast she has said "skill issue" to him at least once and she absolutely does stunt on him whenever she manages to even slightly best him in anything. shes rambling about predynastic art and taking forever to get to her point on purpose. and when i think he and her are an absolute menace to joey like his va and her va did a duel once in character and she was murdering him verbally. at one point they were talking about the north american tournament and joey was like "yeah they wouldnt let me enter cuz my decks got banned cards in it" and shes like "joey if you entered even with your current deck you wouldnt win" and he was like "what? why do you say that? did your necklace tell you that?" and she said "no, I just used common sense." . i could feel her and kaiba high fiving on that one i saw it so clearly

also i really like how in battle city we see that like, especially after their duel and as the marik v yugi fight looms ever closer that she and kaiba genuinely talk strategy on the side. she and him are standing on opposite sides of the ring than yugis gang, like, given her whole thing you think shed be kicking it with them but now she and kaiba are gossiping and speculating and i think that shows that he genuinely respects her skill as a duelist even if he thought the fate stuff was bullshit. he knows her meta game was crazy real recognizes real.

theyre gonna have a really, really long talk after dsod.

MARIK & KAIBA

as above i think the two of them are very similar and i think that pisses them both off. they absolutely refuse to acknowledge it like if you said that theyd snort with derision and be like im nothing like him [insert snide remark here] but thats exactly what i mean. for that reason you cannot just leave them to their own devices together its going to get ugly, or if they have a mutual enemy, felonious. both of them designed Saw Games for yugi.

that being said i do think they should be on a podcast together to talk about like, duel monsters news and commentate on tournaments and stuff like the one-liners would be VICIOUSSSSSSSS . it would be like a frenemies situation i think.

he still feels. REALLY bad about the whole "maiming if not murdering" some of the medical staff on the battle city blimp and he has like, no idea how to broach that topic like if he should send a gift basket or apology text or what so like, hes pretty awkward around kaiba at least at first and is kinda just waiting for the day he brings it up. u said kaibas keeping that as an iou in his back pocket and i agree.

i think the ishtars sometimes hang out with (babysit) mokuba and whenever ishizu and rishid wont let him do something he goes to marik because marik 100% enables younger brother behavior . hes taken him on motorcycle rides. he probably showed him how to forge papers at some point. its really educational

MONOMA & KIRISHIMA

so like. ok hear me out. im about to grab manga panels you know this shit is about to be so for real serious. so like i talk a lot about the team up mission chapter where class a is nice to monoma and he freaks it but id like to bring up that kirishima is one of the main three actors of this plan, esp during the phase where they're trying to gather info on what monomas "secret message" is. deku asks monoma how hes feeling, and monomas like....im not fucking telling you that. so,

(condensed version for time and space). but the important part here is that while deku and Iida fail to engage Monoma in normal conversation because Monoma doesn't have normal conversations with Class A, when Kirishima is like "dude just fucking punch me" Monoma is vaguely confused but goes all in, despite the fact that fist fighting Kirishima is probably more of an immediate threat to his health and safety than talking about his feelings.

so what I'm getting at here is that like, I think Kirishima is fundamentally more capable of communicating with Monoma than maybe other members of Class A not despite the sourness between them but because of it. While Kirishima is kind enough at his core to do this because they think Monoma's in danger (and because they think figuring it out will make him...stop. the things he does.), he also has picked up on the fact that communication with Monoma, even well-meaning, has to be delivered in an antagonistic manner, because he has already done the back-and-forth bickering with Monoma that makes his world go round, unlike Iida and Midoriya.

So I think even though they dislike each other, ironically, Kirishima's better at getting a read on him than a lot of other people.

um. I'm just gonna keep going till it loosely approximates four ideas im in too deep. anyways. It's also important to remember that the remedial classes in the forest training camp were fucking LONG. They were four hours a night. That is.a LOT of acute Monoma exposure for the Class A flunkies late into the evening and we know from the light novels that during that time, he was getting up to mischief and frequently taking "restroom breaks" in which he went and cheated in games on behalf of his classmates who did not know he was doing this. but again anyway the point is that kirishima was. very early on introduced to and spent extended periods with monoma's particular brand of crazy and this would only be even more relevant if hes friends with tetsutetsu, who monoma is also fairly close with. i think thats kinda why we see a willingness for kirishima to get up in his personal space more:

which like, watch out kirishima you may be roped into the monoma handler crew. but like i think a lot about that and like, how kirishima actually tries to explain it to monoma even though as someone who has acute monoma toxicity poisoning he knows this is a very futile effort because kirishima is someone who, actively, is trying to be the manly guy he idolizes, but god, this motherfucker does make it really hard sometimes. most of the time. every time. he is trying to give him the benefit of the doubt because maybe one day it will be different but he does not have his hopes up and he does not know what is wrong with this dude.

which leads me into the next thing i think, sort of along the same lines as bakugou although not as much, monoma does both envy and admire kirishima for being one of the "strong". naturally he'd rather chew his own hands off than say it, but i also dont think he's picked up on the fact that kirishima is the way he is in a very deliberate manner, like that, he worked to be the person he is today and continues to do so. i think if he did know, monoma would respect him a lot more, because he really admires that kind of self-determination and deeply wishes he, too, could form that strong of a personal identity. again, he probably really wouldnt.... express it that well? like i think maybe monoma admiring your strong traits more is kind of a fast track to him being even more annoying because he is truly instinctively a little hater . but he doesnt actually dislike kirishima for any personal reason, like, he has no qualms with kirishima as a person-- he himself is good friends with tetsutetsu. it's solely the class a thing, and the fact that monoma cant really detangle those feelings of jealousy and admiration. he doesnt really care what kirishima thinks of him, but he does make more of an effort when he engages in his antagonism with kirishima, because hes feeling like "look, i want to stand on ground with you as an equal, i see you as strong enough to be worth putting the energy into this rivalry, youre so cool that i feel like im strong if i can keep up with you" except even he doesnt know this is what hes thinking and nobody really wants this. but i dont think he could even really bring himself to HATE hate kirishima or even match his pure dislike as an individual because monoma has no reason to. hes just an awful little man.

also monoma pesters him a lot because he really really likes his quirk. you should be honored kirishima , really. its really fun to him. naturally he does use it for mischief but even non mischief reasons he just thinks its neattttt hes probably got him some deku-style notes about it. its also probably why monoma would tag along on any training tetsutetsu invites him to do with kirishima around bc otherwise he would be like . why would i want to be sweaty and around those despicable clowns when i dont even have to be. <- knows he has no chance of winning a sparring match and is not even going to try

Love like the galaxy -thought collection

So after watching the last eps in a mad rush before I fell asleep, I've now had time to digest my screaming and crying and just want to put them down.

Warning for spoilers!!! Also this turned out very long, sorry not sorry

So first things first: I am really satisfied with the way the show ended and that's not something that often happens.

Was it a bit rushed? Yes in the last 5 eps, but it looks to me like they cut out some Yuan Shuanjing things and honestly I don't think that's a bad thing.

Were there a few moments that made me stop and roll my eyes? Also yes, but it was a handful of moments at most and what I needed the show to do and what it did give me was the emotional catharsis for our main leads.

Anyway time to start talking about the climax of this show aka Bloody Vengeance finally fulfilled.

Ling Buyi is at the end of his rope after Peng Kun has died of an asthma attack in prison, the last lead he could find to properly punish his Unfather gone. So he does the one thing left to a boy who's spent the last 15 years of his life in a haze of trauma and violence. He confronts his Unfather at the eve of his wedding, and starts a slaughter and my god the way this was filmed, scored and acted. Just master class from everyone around!!!

When he finally says his name out loud, after not having been able to confess it to NiaoNiao time after time and he is just covered in blood, some his own but most of it from the dozens of people around him I had shivers.

I've had discussions with @dangermousie of actors in c-ent, who can believably play someone who is actually feral *and dangerous* and especially among the younger ones that ability seems quite rare. Before this show I definitely would not have counted Wu Lei among them (esp after The Long Ballad where I found him to be singularly unengaging), but my god he can act his socks off.

Niaoniao arrives just after the slaughter is done and although LBY tries to brush her off, he wouldn't have fallen for her if she didn't dry her tears and then went to save her man, come what may. Because for all of NNs faults (and there are many! I love the girl but she is not the easiest person) once she counts someone among her people she will go with them to the ends of the earth. Or a cliff in their case.

And I love love love that NN can ignore him not telling her about his plans and taking the revenge on by himself. It hurts her, but in this moment nothing matters beyond saving LBY. But then LBY does the one thing she can never forgive, he swandives off the cliff, understandably to save her, but NNs abandonment issues are one of her biggest weaknesses, so this is the moment that breaks her.

Gotta say I can't blame her, because she was willing to overlook so much for him, but she'd rather die than be alone again. It's the same for him too of course, but their issues about this are different.

The terrible and tragic irony, that it takes NN about 5 minutes to find the evidence that Huo Buyi overlooked, probably because he was blinded by his hate for his uncle and his new wife, so a lot of the future angst could have been avoided if he had been honest, makes it all the worse... and more delicious because wow the angst that was served up was fucking amazing.

When HBY admitted to the emperor that no matter what, he doesn't regret what he did but then can't even bring himself to look at NN as she eviscerates him for doing the worst thing to her - not telling her about his plans and then kind of abandoning her - was so good I was gobbling that shit up with a soup ladle.

Oh!!! And then the empress finally confronting the emperor about the feelings she had kept in her heart for decades was so good for me. The empress honestly turned into one of my favourite characters of the show. Ostensibly she was the confucian ideal wife. Never (openly) jealous, always kind, gave the emperor children (and an erstwhile crown prince) and while their children didn't turn out to be that great at least crown princess biggest flaw is that he's dumb and gullible. In any other rich family this wouldn't have been much of an issue, but sadly in the royal family that's as good as a death warrant.

HBY says as much when he reveals that if he had wanted to he basically could have taken over the country at any point after the emperor died.

Anyway back to the delicious angst: god I loved how both guilty and hopeful HBY was before he left for the border.

One of the core themes of this show has always been characters lying to themselves to justify their own actions, including our mains, but what separates the "good" and "bad" guys here is how they deal with reality once it smacks them in the face. HBYs biggest self-deception was his love for NN and how their future would go, because I'm 100% certain he had basically consigned himself to a suicide mission once he decided on killing his uncle without imperial say so. And yet he couldn't let go of NN beforehand and also didn't manage to confess, despite her giving him *numerous* chances, because the consequences seemed too terrible to him.

Speaking of NN, obviously ZLS didn't get as big a climax as Wu Lei did, but I loved the way she played NN with the ever growing realization that HBY was hiding something big from her and her guessing it and just wanting him to tell her. The way NN just went stiller and stiller as the climax approached then decisive and direct to help him and then afterwards, the way she just slammed all of her walls down. It's a lot more subtle and not doesn't lend itself to as grandiose emotions but ah!! At the very end, when she does let her walls down around HBY again because she can never help herself around him and she starts to turn back into "old" NN, who smiles easily and loves her people, that was so great to see!!

I really liked the way this show managed the separation which for once felt earned and right, these two needed a break and while I hurt for both of them, NN shutting herself away from the world to be with the one maternal figure in her life who only ever showed her kindness and HBY going to use his own life in the only way he really knows, they could let those wounds heal and maybe begin anew.

Now we get to the rushed parts because we do want a happy ending and don't have that much time left. We have the return of one of HBYs thirsty  faux-exes who once again drowns herself in self-delusions to justify her own actions and then tries to murder NN when it doesn't work. Falling off a cliff and being saved by ur ex fiancee sure is a way to get to talking again though, so in the end I'm not too mad and it's not like she was in the story for long.

NNs third fiancee is barely a footnote, but I gotta say that's fine with me, I don't need many scenes between them because the end game is close so I'm glad he let her go be herself.

The empress dies and augh that scene killed me because she was one of my favs and then her talk with Yue Heng!! I loved that she doesn't want empress Yue to take care of her family, but wants to make sure that she doesn't die with any grudges between them!!! Women!!!!! In this show!

Then we get the ultimate end with Lou Ben's wife coming back to get some bloody revenge and I gotta say she's one of the few people who did things with clear eyes hahaha, can't even really blame her. Thankfully our babies make it out fine (though HBY magicly surviving was one of those men's that made me go wait did I miss sth) and NN can't really deny it any more, her feelings for HBY are back out in the open.

Also I gotta say I loooove that HBYs lessons for this drama are not "Bloody revenge won't bring you happiness" or sth to that effect, it's "Bloody revenge is fine, as long as you tell your wife about it!" He has learned that lesson well though and now he believes in NN more than anyone so when they are separated he knows she'll be able to handle stuff on her own bc she's smart!!!!

The last evil guy to be a toady of the former emperor who deluded himself into thinking he survived to avenge him (and not bc he was too unimportant to be with him when he died) feels thematically appropriate to the whole show. 

Then we get to see them happy and reunited and a lovely shot with the whole Cheng fam (and empy being Angy that they didn’t get married in front of him so it doesnt count. He always was their biggest shipper)

I’ve seen people upset that we didnt get a big wedding, but idk i don’t think that was necessary.

that’s not to say that tobey and tom were bad, because they were fantastic but tasm spidey has me feeling things. I don’t have a least favorite though so none of this is in order !

THESE ARE JUST MY OPINIONS AND PREFERENCES !

tobey! spidey:

tobey is not my favorite spiderman, but only because his character has the same energy as every other male protagonist written in the late 90’s - early 2000’s. kind of cringe (esp. the dialogue), very exaggerated underdog energy. I honestly can’t be too mad about it because it IS an early 2000’s movie, but they tried too hard to appeal to a teen audience. I will say however,,, I actually really enjoy his movies !! but I credit that primarily to the villains; I think willem dafoe (green goblin) performed the best in the entire series (as well as doc ock and jjj). I wasn’t crazy about what they did with Venom but he was kinda hot so n e wayz. I also loved some of the awkwardness, including the ridiculous way peter reacted to getting powers and waking up with abs.

in the first movie, I feel like peter is just kind of flat, as well as MJ, but their characters are much better to me in the other two movies (esp the 2nd which is my favorite of the three). I never really grew to care about MJ that much, but I did like gwen! I will say that tobey’s portrayal of adult peter was perfect; ik we haven’t really seen grown peter yet from tom or andrew, but I genuinely don’t think either of them could do it better than tobey did. I also LOVED the chemistry between peter and harry.

tom! spidey:

tom had to portray a younger version of peter parker and without showing his origin story which I felt was already a disadvantage to him. luckily tom is a fantastic actor and I loved the writing so it ended up not being a big deal. his movies/characterization kind of go off track from comic-book accuracy, especially with side characters but I felt like it was a more modernized version of spiderman. socially, it’s A LOT more realistic compared to what we see from tobey’s spidey in school. the dynamics are very fun and well written, his peter is so cute and hard not to enjoy !

there are a few things I don’t like about tom’s peter and it’s mostly centered around his naivety. I don’t even mind that he’s emotional either, I just feel like his energy has not changed in the slightest over the course of his movies (maybe not including nwh). while yes, this is a younger peter parker, I feel like he’s notably less clever than the other versions of spiderman. yeah he’s good in school/science but that’s as much as they really do with that and I don’t love it. they pinned a bit too much of his characterization on his dynamic with tony stark (which I do love their relationship, but it admittedly causes some issues). I can blame most of the problems with this spidey on the fact that they had to find a way to include him in the mcu. Also I love zendaya’s MJ and think that aging down aunt may was a horrible choice creatively.

I don’t think aging him down and excluding his origin story was very smart at all but it wasn’t majorly disappointing

notably not as clever as the other two portrayals (still intelligent though)

lack of comic book accuracy

lack of his own story; everything kind of traces back to the avengers/shield/stark. too much of his characterization relied on tony stark, excluding the mentor aspect of things. like, peter didn’t get to do enough learning on his own.

aged down aunt may :( Marisa did great but the value in May’s character just kind of went down a bit. the fact that she’s old makes things all the more emotional and they took that away. I almost feel like the sentiment that was meant for may ended up going towards / focused on tony

fantastic acting and casting !

great/funny writing ! lack of cringe which I love

very likable love interest ! zendaya is lovely and the character change on MJ was really charming. it goes to show that a character doesn’t always have to be comic accurate to be good.

likable side characters and school dynamics ! Ned and MJ supremacy. it’s a pretty realistic representation of life in modern high school. Beefy white guys are not the only popular bullies anymore.

tony / peter dynamic. I know I said it focused too much on tony, but this relationship has a very special place in my heart, especially because the tony saw himself in peter. I REALLY wish they spent more time giving this dynamic to Harley/Tony instead, so that Peter could’ve been more independent.

andrew! spidey:

my beloved. he’s both my favorite spiderman and peter parker for an abundance of reasons and I only wish he had gotten better villains and a better second movie. andrew’s acting was perfectly spot on for peter parker in the beginning; his initial selfishness because of his trauma and the way he treated ben/may was represented really well to me. his cleverness and interest in science is shown right off the bat simply through the tech he built to lock his door lol and he didn’t even have to be the smartest in his class. GWEN !! andrew and emma’s chemistry is forever unmatched and gwen was perfect ! loved that peter was ranked 2nd to her in school/intelligence. I really liked how he was represented as unpopular in school, a modern showing of a “weird kid”. yet still had a sense of justice that’s shown when he stands up to Flash. His willingness to make jokes and use his wit as Spiderman really hit the mark for me as teenage peter! Definitely the best Spiderman personality in my opinion.

Something I didn’t like was the whole side plot with his parents deaths, I feel as though it didn’t fit in with the second movie at all and they should’ve just ended it at the fact that his dad was just trying to keep his work from being weaponized. I also don’t like any of the villains that much despite feeling sooo bad for max lol. Harry Osborne !! there was 0 chemistry between Peter and harry and I hated watching them together on-screen (harry was sexc tho).

literally the whole 2nd movie; they were just doing too much ! (bad writing, great acting from main characters tho)

hi so I wanna say I love Andrews portrayal of spiderman and Peter parker were both great charming and endearing to me but ot doesn't take away the fact for me that the movies were almost starlight up terrible especially the second one we had glimpses of what the movie could be in some scenes that were so great but other than the wonderful performances bu stone garfield and sally and the actor who played uncle Ben and a few scenes here and there the movies were bad really bad I loved that andrew and his Pete got a redemption arc for nwh I love that it's what sold the movie for me he's a great actor who was robbed of a decent script and too much studio interferences really mangled the end product

But i do feel like people are unnecessarily harsh on the mcu version of spiderman while it makes me now uncomfortable thinking About Tony stark is musk's wet dream but the movies were really great for the audiences they are marketed towards young kids the class struggles are very much present just in a more subtle way and nwh has fixed most of the "problems" that mcu spiderman had they are also in general the best spider man movies out there if you remove the rami trilogy this is just my take but Maybe it's just the fact that I'm much younger and enjoy these movies more idk

I never said they were great movies just that Andrew was a great Peter Parker haha. Although I still think they're really fun movies as long as you take them as something campy instead of as a work of art. Ignore the major plot holes and shit script and just enjoy the ride of watching a 2012 superhero movie.

Personally, I like to pick out the parts that I loved about it and focus on those rather than the poorly done bits. They literally have some of my favorite Spidey scenes in them. The part when all the construction workers move their cranes together because they see Spider-Man struggling after being shot and he saved Ponyboy's son earlier in the movie and now Ponyboy gets a chance to repay him back so he gets all his buddies together to help and Peter swings from crane to crane to get to where he needs to...a literal perfect Spider-Man moment! It's up there with the scene in Toby's when all the people in the subway lift an unconscious Peter up and carry him back inside, maskless, and tell him that his secret identity is safe with them and then hand him back his mask. It's the scenes when NYC backs Spider-Man as their hero that always get to me. I don't remember if Tom's Peter has anything like that because I've only seen his movies once (and one was on a plane lol) and my memory is poop so I can't speak on that. But I like whenever they add in NYC backing up Peter in his films. It was very Spider-Man esque. He's a man of the people, esp the working class, and the people usually like to repay him for that whenever he can help. Andrew's version did a good job of representing that.

Gwen's death was also good. Andrew acted the hell out of it. I mean...

Besides being visually dark as hell, his perfect hugging of her dead body cradled in his arms! They don't shy away from it and they linger on the quietness and raw emotions of that scene for a minute. It was emotional and powerful and done well.

Then the humor in the movies was wonderful! Andrew nailed the one liners and body movement. To me, he was such a cheeky Spider-Man especially going from Toby who didn't quite have that cocky Spidey charm like Andrew did. If you don't look at the movies as a groundbreaking work of art, I don't think they're as bad as people claim them to be haha. They're not great but they're also not the worst movies I've ever seen. It keeps you entertained and excited and can pack a punch when it wants to.

I do think you nailed it though when you said that it depends on your age. I was in the perfect age group when The Amazing Spider-Man came out. I had grown up watching Toby's movies but I was too young to really see them as anything more in depth than just Spider-Man swinging around. TASM released when I was 19. It was the most perfect age to see it in theaters and fall head over heals in love with Mr. Garfield as he blushes and hides his face in flowers after showing up at Gwen's bedroom window. Or when he shows up in middle of the night covered in blood and gets half naked while she tends to his wounds. CHOCOLATE HOUSE. The raw, horny, sexiness of their chemistry together!! He is by and far the horniest of all the Spidey babies. All of their kissing scenes!! How could I not fall in love that man?? He was on the big screen and I was horny for a boyfriend and he gave me everything I needed for my teenage fantasies. And then you add on the chokehold that Andrew and Emma had over the young world when they dated. 2012 was a crazy time. People genuinely thought the world was ending and Peter Parker was back on the big screen hahaha. What more could ya ask for? ;)

It was like it was made for my generation of nerdy ladies to thirst over. By the time Tom's movies came out, I was already way to old to be invested in a high school kid. I thought he was a good actor and has great chemistry with MJ and Ned but I just don't have that same pure, all in love that I did with Andrew.

I honestly don't even remember Tom's other Spidey movies, I remember a couple of scenes here and there, but NWH was perfect. I don't think I've ever been so equally breathless and excited while watching a movie in my life.

i don't think i like the presentation of rem's iconic speech. there's no context shown for it, i was scared luida was gonna take it, but here its just loosely connected. in fact, i don't think it really matches at all. originally it was about rem and vash wanting to die, they argue you have something to live for, and vash uses it to be hopeful and say people can change even when they've done bad. here it gives off the impression that vash can live to be useful to the humans, therefore he'll finally earn their respect (which is bad lol). even if its related to vash's apparent guilt of knives being able to drop everyone from the sky, its not clear enough. the audience doesnt know the context

If you are a grown ass person who is openly simping for Luke’s actor…do I have to spell out for you how problematic that is? Probably: ITS WEIRD AND CREEPY. STOP. (This also applies to Clarisse’s actress esp bc she’s still a legal minor but this is Luke’s post so I’m focusing on that). If you’re younger then fine but if you’re not…leave him alone

I’ve seen quite a few posts that are like “Luke shouldn’t be hot since he’s so creepy/he’s the bad guy.” 1) Him being hot shouldn’t be a surprise if you’ve read the books since Percy described him as attractive, Annabeth had a crush on him, Silena had a crush on him, and probably other campers did too. Before his betrayal, Luke was popular and well liked. He was also aware of his looks and used them to his advantage, like when he charmed Silena to Kronos’s side. Making him unattractive would be a huge disservice to his character imo. 2) I’ve also seen several posts that are like “how am I supposed to hate Luke if he’s hot 😫😫” or “maybe I am a Luke apologist 👀.” it’s fine if these are jokes but if you are actually willing to excuse the creepy and awful things Luke has done just because he’s hot…I don’t know what to tell you. Hot people can be terrible too!!! I hate to be the one to tell you that but it’s true. God the amount of Luke apologists that are going to come crawling out of the woodwork…

Look at the age difference between Luke’s actor and Percy and Annabeth’s actors. Just look at it. If you think it’s ok to ship them fully knowing and seeing their age gap of SEVEN YEARS then I don’t know what the fuck to tell you. “B-but Luke didn’t like Annabeth until she was older-“ shut the fuck up. At the end of TLO, when Luke asks Annabeth if she ever loved him (yes this was romantic, no I don’t take criticism), Annabeth and Percy are 16. Luke is 23. He is still an adult who has romantic feelings for a minor. If you support that, you’re sick. That’s it.

That being said, I SINCERELY hope that the writers will change that scene around when it comes time, because even though some people are too blinded by Luke’s hotness to notice, it’s unnecessarily creepy. If they ACTIVELY TRY and frame it as like swoon-worthy romantic I’ll throw a table out the goddamn window. It’s 2022. We don’t need this. There are plenty of other reasons to dislike Luke, just leave this one out. Yes it will give a win to the Luke apologists who are like “Him aSKiNg annABeTh iF HE evEr LOved Him WaSn’t roMANtIc iT wAS FaMIliAl AND iF YOu thINK oThERWiSe THeN YoU’rE THe CReEpy OnE” but it will also break lukabeth shippers hearts (🤮🤮🤮) and that’s a trade-off I am ok with. Like, if the show actively indulges in an adult man having feelings for a minor AND tries to milk it for drama or ship culture or whatever…we have a major problem. I just want them to be conscious of the implications behind Luke’s actions and handle them carefully.

I am also disappointed with the decisions made about Luke’s casting. NO HATE ON CHARLIE BUSHNELL—I hope he has a positive experience working on the show, and I believe he has the talent necessary to play a convincing Luke. My criticism is directed at the people behind the scenes who make these decisions for the show. 1) I hope Luke will be blond in the actual show, just as I hope Walker will have black hair. I don’t want any of the actors to be pressured to change their appearance, but if they are ok with it, I hope the folks behind the scenes will make that effort. 2) Since I nitpicked Clarisse’s age, it only seems fair that I nitpick Luke’s. In TLT, Luke is 19 years old. It says right in the book. Charlie has only JUST turned 18. Again, it’s a small issue overall, but it is something that personally bothers me. 3) His vibes are just so off to me. I can’t put my finger on exactly why, but whenever I see people like “Omg he’s so perfect for Luke!” I’m like “…is he though?” I think it’s because he’s so baby faced. He does not have the intimidating presence that Luke does, so I can only hope that his acting skills will make up the difference. I don’t think casting Charlie as Luke was a bad decision—it’s just not one I totally agree with.

Final point, please separate the actors from their characters. I know it’s been said many times but I’ll say it again. Luke does a lot of bad things in the series that Charlie will be portraying, but that does NOT mean that you should hate him for that. Respect all the actors in this project and don’t demonize them for any decisions their character’s make.

i feel such nostalgia looking at the visuals for breaking bad now. yes all the actors were younger, and thats always cute to revisit, but the COLORS. the colors were so vibrant and the look of whatever camera they used makes everything look softer, the lighting look brighter. the way it was filmed, lots of handheld, also made it feel more familiar, close to home.

better call saul in comparison started off with a similar look, but throughout the series, it got progressively less vibrant in color (CLEARLY) and the cameras got better (higher quality? resolution?) and stiller. no handheld, just still shots, smooth movements. in comparison to the look of the beginning of the series and to breaking bad, it feels a lot darker, colder, more serious, more depressing imo. detached. disengaged. and that feels just in line with the story. esp when you consider the black and white parts.

they’re two very different shows with very different looks. im not a film student and i don’t know what im talking about in terms of cinematography or cameras or whatever, but i sure as hell remember the look of how saul’s office and Saul looked in breaking bad and how fun and wacky and vibrant it was back then and i weep for the good old days

Hi Rachel!! First, I have to say that I love your new theme!! Tim Bradford and Blue Öyster Cult as a Tim Bradford reference? Impeccable taste and design.💙

There's lots of spoilers and opinions below the cut! I could seriously write a dissertation on this, but I'll try to keep it brief-ish. :)

"Secrets and Lies" should have been "Heartbreak and Betrayal (from Alexi Hawley)". I think one of my biggest issues with season 6 as a whole is Lucy's character because of how different she seems; which is the writing and nothing against Melissa! To me, it seems like Lucy's actions and reactions are different than they used to be. But that could just be me! Regardless, the Chenford breakup was hard to watch. After five seasons of pining and rooting for them, I just wanted them to be happy!

I loved getting to see more about Tim's Army history, though, even if it is causing a tremendous amount of issues. Like "Reaper"?? That's 1) kinda sexy, and 2) has to have an amazing story behind it. I'm excited to see more about that element of his story and hope that as he works through it he can fix his relationships and everything!

Other than Lucy and Tim, my thoughts are pretty quick! Angela helping Tim and being the perfect BFF was adorable, and I love her character even more now. I've honestly never really cared much about Nolan, but the baby storyline seems kind of forced (esp considering they don't mention Henry much anymore); I know it's probably because of Jenna but they've been covering it, so I don't know for sure. Not show-related really, but Nyla's hair looks amazing in this season!!

I've talked a bit about S.W.A.T. season 8, but I probably won't watch it. Without Street, Luca, and possibly Deacon it just won't be the same. And while I haven't seen s7, I've heard the the writing and pacing are pretty bad compared to previous seasons. My biggest worry is that they're going to keep treating the actors poorly and replacing them with younger cast members. After two cancellations, it seems possible that the show has run its course, plus the fact that s7 was set up to be the end so they risk it feeling like a reboot and filling gaps with exposition. My understanding is that the previous cancellations were money issues, but with the negative feedback on the content of s7, it seems like money is the only concern which doesn't usually end well for actors or fans. However, if the studio and writers actually listen to fan feedback on the current season and do better with s8 (and bring back the loved stars) then I can see it continuing!

cersei: i have so many thoughts and feelings. namely "she's evil and it's hot," but yk. i thought that in the final couple of seasons, esp s8, they really didn't give her anything to do. i felt bad for lena because she's such a great actor and was completely wasted. BUT! i absolutely adore her in s1-4. evil and schemey and smart but not as smart as she thinks she is and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa horrible lady <3

i'm honestly not super aware of any popular cersei ships....? i'm not super involved in the GoT fandom. but the only ones that come to mind are ones i dislike for one reason or another.

jon snow: he's just a lil guy! i like him. he's good. as per, the "done dirty" and "wasted potential" pretty much refers to the final few seasons lmao. i know opinions are split on who should have killed the night king, but i always felt like it was Going To Be Jon. when they suddenly veered of course it just. irked me.

also i don't necessarily think that ALL the popular ships suck, but the one i see over and over is jonsa which. nah.

Sadly Colins season will focus more on Penelope than on him. With Daphnes season it almost felt equal, while with Anthony it was told more about his trauma than Kates. I know Benedict will shine. But Colin will be sidelined in his own season.

Maybe it's a good thing because it could be the perfect opportunity to cut her screentime permanently after that.

[Also important note, for all intents and purpose of these posts I will be using the alt ship name for P*lin that my friend Lav @sweetestviscount came up with which is Pelican. This is because I have no energy to enertain Pelican anon stans in my ask box and they always complain about valid criticisms made against Penalty as 'negativity' so hopefully with these different names it won't show up in their precious tag]

It took me a while to figure out how to answer because this isn't quite a question but an opinion I do agree with! Also now that I've been getting a few Pelican asks since they might be the S3 leads, I figured I'd might as well answer all of these in succession!

Let's talk about the trauma in the last two seasons first, I would need to see how they handle Sophie's trauma before commenting that the show is ignoring the women's trauma because Daphne didn't really have any "intense" trauma like Simon, Kate or Anthony had. Intense is in quotes cos this is not the trauma Olympics but I think it's right to say that other than her father's death grief, Daph turned out pretty well adjusted compared to the other three. Even then they did show Baby Daph singing to her sibs in S2 which does show how she coped during that time in her life and how she sprung into action for her younger siblings. It was a small scene but implied so much and was mentioned in the books so that was a nice touch.

But I absolutely hated the complete disregard of Kate's trauma and not showing it. Simon got flashbacks, why didn't Kate?? Is there a one character per season flashback quota??? I feel like the flashbacks for Kathony being similar could have strengthen the storytelling and showed that even from a young age those two are VERY SIMILAR. Because the show wasn't explicit enough about this that's why we have E/A shippers and why some people say they are only in lust and didn't have any emotional connection (tell me you didn't watch the show properly and read the books without telling me)

Now onto Colin, I loved Colin in the books but RMB while seeming like the 'perfect' fairytale book to me on my first read was actually quite bland and I have to attribute it to it feeling so perfect. Like neither of them really have very in depth backstories or a connection. It was basically him seeing her for the first cos she lost weight like ew EDIT: It was basically him seeing her after years of knowing her and of course she had lost weight by then - that's shady as hell Colin. RIP to you, Colin but Nicola as Pen is gorgeous and I would marry her if she was more like Book Pen. Yall know how I feel about Show!Pen sis is a criminal and needs to go to jail.

That being said, Newts is pretty charming in interviews but falls completely flat on the show??? It's really odd. At first, I used to attribute it to the script and directing but everyone else's acting is on point?? So it's not the directing but I think a mix of what is being written for Colin and as Zara @jeanvanjer has pointed out, Newts just doesn't the experience or chops to be on JB or Luke T's caliber right now. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just means this role is a good space for him to practice and get better and see what kind of actor he is. It's just disappointing that he's exploring this at the expense of a fan favourite book character. But I've made my peace with Pelican not being it for me. [Also side note: just because someone doesn't like your ship doesn't mean you need to spend time and effort telling them why they should like that ship especially if the person has already made up their mind.]

It is sad that Netflix and Shondaland keep pushing the LW angle that Colin is set to be overshadowed in his own season sigh. Out of all the couples of Bridgerton, I realised Pelican is the one with a power imbalance they don't quite overcome. Yes, because of the time period the others also have the gender power imbalance but I would say by the end of their books, they work it out and treat other with respect. Whereas with Pelican, it starts with Penalty being infactuated with him since forever and he never notices her then the dynamic switches when he finds out about LW. Now Penalty has power over him in everywhere that matters. Independence, money and a sense of purpose. Of course, the magic wand of HEA is waved over them and Colin discovers his love of writing too and in the epilogue we see her editing for him which also gives her a sense of power of him.

As sweet as they were in the books, for me personally I didn't see them working through their issues and power imbalances. They never felt like partners to me. She had to lose weight for him to see her as a prospect EDIT: Sorry yall I totally forgot she lost the weight in Book 2 and he still doesn't see her for another decade as this anon says and thanks Lav for catching it too. I think Colin was just straight up blind for a decade - it runs in the family. I did find that one of their central conflicts is her having to shrink herself as a person (give up LW and writing) to appease and make him feel comfortable?? It's just yucky all around.

Whereas now in the show, on the meta level the show is kind of giving Penalty the power she didn't quite have in the book. By doing so, now Colin feels irrelevant and not even his funny self in the books because his scenes are so minimal and his show personality literally is just Greece and being Penalty's obsession carelessly taped together.

I hope to God her screentime is cut if Pelican really is happening in S3 because did yall see how pissed Anthony looked when he heard what LW had published about Eloise. That man depises whoever is behind LW - he's never going to accept Penalty when the reveal happens. He was very weary and hesitant of Marina who only lied to survive but I geniunely believe Colin and her would have ultimately ended up very happy, do you think Anthony's gonna accept a whole ass criminal into his family? My wishlist for Pelican's season is for Anthony to ban them to another European country lmao. But we all know that won't happen ugh, the HEA wand will be waved over Penalty being LW in the show and everyone just magically accepts her without her apologising or taking any form of accountability.

Just like how Marina rooted for her this season 🙄🙄 which was so out of character. She must have known it was Penalty like Portia didn't want their family reputation ruined, Pru and Philly couldn't care less about her pregnancy (and I don't think they even knew lmao). Who was the only one in the family who knew first and was very against the match between her and Colin?? Marina wasn't stupid, I'm sure she figured it out the moment she was ruined. But no, the writers needed to push the Pelican agenda sigh.

We can only hope that they wrap up her arc in the Pelican season and we never have to hear from her and Colin ever again (give their screen time to poor missing Frannie!!)

The show lost viewers this season because it was insanely dreadfully bad. If they want any chance of a successful season 8, they're going to have to make some serious changes.

1) un bloat the damn cast. We do not need DP playing 2 shittily written mediocre characters with no plot taking up screentime when they can't even write 1 well. If they're not going to get rid of them both, I'll take Caitlin's blank face looking ass over white privilege Frost. Get rid of that dumbass Chillbean. Get rid of all and any Caitlin love interests forever bc DP has no chemistry with any of them. Cecile needs to be guest or recurring - she has no more use for the plot, esp now that Jenna is nonexistent and Joe is sharing scenes with Kramer. Unless they have a continued significant plot for Joe next season, he needs to be bumped down to supporting cast too and ACTUALLY support his pregnant daughter. Allegra doesnt need to be in episodes not focused on Citizen plots. Even if I dont mind her character, we don't need Sue back. She serves no purpose in the overall narrative. Why tf did they feel the need to bring her back and write for her when they can't even write their existing longterm characters properly?? Too many plates at the table. This focus on side characters has got to go. They didn't develop them well when they first joined the show which they should have done to make us invested. Trying to force in filler for that now after the fact is too late and disrupts the trajectory of the show. The only one they've done right is Chester.

2) go back to the roots of the show, with the Wests and Westallen family at its core and the characters and character dynamics driving the narrative, not the terrible and inconsistent plots. The show needs to stop being so invested in the spectacle and focus on the heart.

3) cool down the corny goofiness and gearing this towards kids bc I doubt the younger audience make up the majority of viewers at this point. This may not be a late time slot show but it is starting to resemble Disney shows with how "kiddy" and silly it has become. If s8 is indeed the last season, I hope they say fuck it and stop giving a damn about those (probably made up) constraints. Is it really that much to ask for the main couple to have some intimacy in bed? Even just cuddling under the covers? Steamier kisses?

4) let the writers who have experience writing the show and characters have more episodes because inconsistent characterisation and writing is ruining pivotal moments. And conversely, stop letting longtime writers with a clear anti agenda have pivotal WA/Iris episodes to write because again, inconsistent characterisation and writing is ruining it

5) they need to do right by Iris. Proper journalism story arc, proper pregnancy arc with her husband, proper investment in her vulnerability emotions and fears. Enough with the misogynoir.

6) a strong overarching villain with good, steady buildup and good motive who has stakes in the personal lives of every character, otherwise ppl are not going to get invested in the fight.

7) utilise their stronger actors more. They have significantly better actors with less screen time playing support like roles and keep pushing the actors who can't fucking act or carry episodes at the forefront and it is resulting in pretty bad episodes. A good actor can make bad writing tolerable. A bad actor just highlights all the flaws in the show. The focus on side characters exposed the show, bad writing, and how crappy some characters are this season, which we've been able to disregard in the past for the most part because at least there was fantastic acting and moments we could focus on instead.

8) they refuse to dismantle Team Flash at this point, so they need to make Barry a CLEAR leader. No more looking to others for decisions or having them in his ear all the fucking time. He's spent all seasons needing everyone's help for everything. How is he supposed to build his legacy as legendary if he needs everyone else to tell him what to do? He's about to be a father. They better have him shape up quick and learn to be a protector and leader in his own right. He's a muppet I can't take seriously at this point. If the titular character is written shoddily, the rest of the show won't hold up.

And 9) STOP PANDERING TO THE RACISTS AND DUMBASS WHINY BITCH FANBOYS. How hard is it to understand that whenever they do, the show suffers for it and has worse episodes, and when they don't, it thrives?? It's morons running this show I swear. How are fans of the show understanding the show more than the actual ppl who made the show??

It's not too late for the show; they can turn it around and end on a higher note but they seriously need to reevaluate the wrong turn they took after s4/s5ish.
