What the fuck is up with everyone pushing Fearne and Ash to kiss and shit? They absorbed the equivalent of those magnetic bff puzzle necklaces. We just talked about making our own destinies. So why are we now talking about the former holders of the shards like that relationship applies to these two now?

There's a bunch of posts going around rn on why some people struggle to find Imogen and Laudna's relationship interesting and why it feels like it's stagnant, and I won't rehash that. I assume you've seen them if you're following me and this corner of the fanspace.
But, one of the weirdest things about their relationship to me is that like... it doesn't feel to me like the other characters in the party are encouraging or validating or feeding into that static dynamic where they never grow nor ever regress. Ever since the gnarlrock argument got resolved, it feels like the relationship exists in this void where it cannot ever be observed, and the other characters are generally... not even able to put weight on that standstill in either way, encouraging or discouraging, because of that.
My feeling about the way the relationship exists within the overall party dynamics, it feels more like it's quarantined in a way where almost all of it happens out of line of sight of the others, who never really learn about what goes on between Imogen and Laudna because the two of them also don't really talk to the others about their relationship (or their feelings, or about much generally). A lot of what makes the relationship feel static or the other stuff that Imogen and Laudna avoid unpacking also never really comes up in a way and space that provides opportunity for the rest of the party to unpack it themselves or start a discussion about it, whether to enable it or to offer something constructively challenging and growth-provoking.
Hell, even little things about the relationship as it concretely exists (i.e. the way they directly and actively interact and engage with each other) feel like they rarely happen where the party can see it and integrate it into what they know about Imogen and Laudna. It feels like so little of the relationship in those concrete terms happens in a space amongst the rest of the party. Stuff that the others would tease about or bring up or make small talk about. It often feels to me like the other characters can't interact with the relationship in any way, at any level because so little of it happens concretely where they would know about it nor are they informed of it.
Like, to me, it feels constantly and generally like there's this dense fog of war surrounding Imogen and Laudna's relationship that isolates it from the rest of the party and that the others are stumbling around in that fog and can't actually witness the relationship. That's why I feel like the characters aren't really enabling the static holding pattern. It always feels like the other characters don't really know what actually is ever specifically happening between them.

god i hope liam Tragedy Enjoyer o'brien takes the "orym has been nigh-catatonic since the incident, with interspersed moments of him breaking off from the others to work out/recenter" situation from last ep and runs with it. i know tal was trying to carve in a little moment for them to have a talk to harken back to next ep, but i almost like it better if ashton went to talk to him but orym was just moving through his exercises with a thousand-yard stare the whole time

im honestly very happy ira is one of if not the most beloved npc of campaign 3. and while i know most of his surface level appeal is the sheer unhinged faeishness of him, i think it fundamentally comes down to ira, despite his most un-human everything, being the most Man in his struggles as a fae can get.
as early as his intro he was set apart by past established fae, by working on technology, wearing a tattered suit. he was kicked out of the courts and the vanguard after they asked him to create their war weapons. he is a veteran of a mortal war, and got no accolades. he has spent 3 decades living in caves, taking the shittiest jobs imagineable just to get by, even torturing folk for his shit bosses again (the treshi job) because cash is cash. he knows folk will Just Die if they cant keep up and accepts it bluntly. his voice creaks with age & experience in the dust. it is easy to pin his pettiness & need for vengeance solely on the intensity of a fae til you see that he approaches even those goals with the rusty, tired caution of a man who was a spy, who understands the gravity of war, whose bosses have screwed him over so badly they made he, the nightmare king, scared.
he is a victim of the greed of the rich, easily isolated and made a scapegoat as a sole evil by them. he has lived a life with absolutely no lavish design. even artagan, whom i love with all my heart and find deep relateability in, is so disconnected with mortality at first, in large part because he was a literal fae lord. when vox machina adjusted the leylines to let artagan into exandria, ira was locked out of his home at the same time. ira has lived in the grime of the worst the fae courts and humanity has to offer, wanting to make a mark but always being a pawn hurt by a grand design. and so, while he clearly & obviously knows the difference between mortal & fae, he also knows there's really no defined line between who can hurt you worse... and how it shapes you. does your callousness begin with your fae nature, with everyone deeming you a monstrosity, or with your experience at the bottom rung? it all ends the same, regardless. i think it is fascinating to see the classism & even capitalism choking exandria and its sister realms, and ira is so fascinating because he is the primary example we have of that happening to a fae, and we get to see how that has gruffly shaped someone who could have been as utterly unphased & whimsical as a flower in the breeze.

me every time i remember that rayllum's dynamic/talks in 4x07 ("i'm afraid that he'll use me to awful things. [pans right to rayla] or hurt people i care about [...] you have to kill me"), 5x04 ("i would do anything for you"), and 5x08 ("just let her go" and dark magic use) are just, ultimately, fucking Set Up for a natural culmination in the next two seasons:

I haven’t really seen a ton of discussion around most of the PCs because realistically they didn’t get to do a lot but there’s something mighty interesting in Ashton’s choice to run and Chetney’s choice to fight.

Laudna being revived in whitestone is gonna fuck her up. at least a little. Laudna being revived in whitestone by VM might fuck up Orym at least a little. Laudna being revived, at all, is going to fuck up Imogen (even if its in a different way than the alternative).
Like. You know how you can power through shit on adrenaline alone and then it all hits you once the crisis ends?
Laudna getting revived is going to fuck up the Bell's Hells at least a little (probably a lot) and Im so excited for it.

I understand not wanting your party members to walk into a lake and drown themselves but also Laudna has the fuckin WORST bedside manner lol. Yes, your much-needed long rest was just interrupted in a creepy abandoned town where you know weird charm-shit happened and the LAST thing you need right now is for anyone to lose focus. But also "Can you not wait? You can wait 5 minutes." talking to someone who has waited months and doesn't know if their loved one is even ALIVE and has confessed to you how much he misses them and how much it hurts and they could be outside breathing alive right now—
And on the surface, it looks like Chet is enabling a bad decision when he says "You probably heard Dorian. He's probably outside." and yeahh, okay, maybe he is a little bit. But right after that he's about to protest with something about Orym and it's like yeah. ORYM said he heard something. When has there been a time when ORYM heard something, and it wasn't real? How many times has Orym heard something and it's saved our asses? Before Chet is being hit with his own need to check out the lake, he's giving Orym the benefit of the doubt. And while he is an enabler by nature, he's keeping his voice soft rather than his usual, over-the-top "let's fuck around and find out" energy that he brings to dangerous situations like this.
You can't have everyone in the group treating a dilemma with the same amount of sympathy and care. What makes the BH so fascinating to watch is the variation in responses and different ways they interact with each other. You need a balance of someone who will take the cold, unyielding stance against something that is so obviously a trap, and someone that is aware of the risks but willing to speak up for that person and humor them when they're so clearly struggling.
I have a lot of feelings about Laudna and Chetney's instinctual responses and I think both stances are fascinating and they've both shattered my heart to pieces

You have a good point. It's just weird that there are so many complains/posts/discussions about Orym, FCG or Ashton and on the other hand, the same people will tell you that "...the CR fandom will always care more for male characters" - well, apparently you do too or why else would you write so much about them and not your favorite relationship? It's just so baffling to me.
YEAH. Wow! It's almost as if you're hostile towards people talking about any flaws Imogen and Laudna have, they'll start talking about the men more because at least they can talk about them! It's almost as if, when you attack everyone who's like "I like Imogen because I think she's engaging with selfishness, which is a theme Laura has explored with incredible depth and nuance with her past characters as well," and claim they clearly hate Imogen, and then turn around and say "I LOVE FCG and Orym I think they're incapable of truly connecting to people because I'm projecting my personal feelings about my right-wing Christian upbringing onto 'guy who is worshiping a chaotic good of freedom' and 'guy who was part of the guard for Keyleth, you know, Keyleth, the character you think no one is allowed to ever question because Marisha got hate in 2017' and they should apologize to Laudna for everything they've ever done but I LOVE THEM" everyone will realize you're a massive hypocrite! It's almost as if, when you make any criticism of female characters taboo, even thoughtful analysis (and yes, thoughtful analysis is subjective, but I promise that the misogynist dudebros of yore do not talk about connecting themes across multiple characters in multiple campaigns; they say Shut Up Dumb Cunt), many people will start talking about the men!
Like...look, I think there are a number of reasons why people are targeting Orym right now, but again, before Orym it was FCG. For a while it was Ashton. Occasionally it's Chetney but usually they just forget about him. Briefly, when Laudna died, it was Fearne for the coin flip. Not on Twitter but on Tumblr some poor coward went to an anonymous vent blog and attempted and failed to start rumors of a ship war. In the end, it's totally fine if you enjoy this ship (and I've had great conversations with a number of people who are like 'it's sweet and cute but I also enjoy the other characters', and I support those people!), but it really feels there is a segment of fans who are less interested in enjoying the ship and more interested in screaming about how not everyone enjoys the ship and that, in turn, only makes it worse, because the reason I don't care for the ship is that there isn't really anything to say about it and there's way more interesting things to be said about the characters as individuals, or about literally every relationship, romantic or platonic. Like, I don't think Orym is terribly complicit - I think he's not perfect in that moment, but who is - but it really isn't about Orym, it's about avoiding the fact that there's not enough canon ship content to frost a mini cupcake and maybe if they throw enough discourse pocket sand in the air we won't notice. Except we are noticing that all they have to talk about is Orym.
