disregarding fanfiction, an underrated friendship within dragon age canon is dorian and cullen. here we have two men, a mage and an ex templar specifically, who have come together amidst the chaos and destruction of the world around them, and they have found the time to get to know each other, to schedule in a moment during their day to hang out, play chess, and just chat. cullen has a million things on his mind and is struggling so hard with his addiction, yet he still finds the time to see dorian. dorian, who probably feels so lonely within the inquisition, never truly knowing who he can trust and who will backstab him in the end, has found comfort and comradeship within an ex templar.
bonus points if their first meeting was during the attack at haven, since they would've had to work past the animosity they felt towards each other during that mission.

Alastor isn’t one for kisses, he just slowly and lewdly licks the side of Lucifer’s face and walks away as if it’s the most normal interaction to have in the world

im FERAL about Childhood Best Friend!Soap thank u for planting that seed in my brain! now I can't stop thinking about young soap and reader doing all kinds of adorable friend stuff. Friendship bracelets? Exploring "the wilderness" together (except it's just a copse of trees behind one of their backyards)? Reader being allowed by their parents to invite 'anybody at all' to their birthday parties each year, but the only person who EVER gets an invitation is John? IM SOFT AND FULL OF THOUGHTS
No because you get it anon you don’t understand
You’re usually the one who comes up with the plans, Johnny just follows you like a sick puppy. He’s always by your side and he’s always doing something goofy to get you to laugh
He keep all of the bracelets you make together
He spends every weekend at your house, having sleepovers and watching Sunday cartoons with you. The two of you play video games and get so competitive that your mom has to turn it off to save herself a headache.
And sweet Johnny even at a younger age still coming to defend you from bullies. Getting into fights with boys who tease you and standing up against any girls who say something rude to you.
He’s your best friend. Always there for your birthday, bringing you the best gift you wanted.
God forbid you cry in front of him. He’s suddenly a comedian, saying the most outrageous things and doing the most to make you smile.

Melkor and Feanaro have such wonderful parallels. Both were literally told that their works are not their own and stem from some other. (Melkor's additions to the Song and Feanaro's Silmarilli.) And both took it so badly that it permanently fucked Arda in so many ways.

The Itoshi Brothers: And My Very Late Take On Them. (Part 1)
look, I've had very strong blue lock brainrot for a long time now. Rambled plenty to my dear partner-in-crime about it.
The reason this post exists is because I read almost all of the analysis posts by @/riririnnnn regarding the Itoshi brothers, and now I need to add my own two cents.
In particular, this was inspired by two posts: Rin and Sae by @/riririnnnn Rin's Ego and Aura by @/boinin
The core of this theory/analysis is: What exactly is the core of Rin's character, why it made Sae react the way he did, and why this entire mess exists in the first place.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you think about it, from the very beginning Rin has had no basis of ambition or foundation for himself at all. His beginnings were really humble, wherein he just watched Sae play and thought his brother looked amazing as he did it. It was admiration, and the kind of younger sibling energy that makes you want to emulate your older sibling. It isn't just about playing alongside Sae, but it's about being like Sae.
It spurs him to read Sae better because he wants to learn. And eventually, it happens. He's reading a talented player, and he has the same(?) talent within him, so it's no surprise that he shocks just about everyone when he can keep up with Sae.
Tumblr media
This? This is why Rin started playing football. To be like Sae, to play with Sae. Sae, sae, sae, sae- It was never of Rin's own volition. And it won't be, for a very long time.
He learns to emulate Sae, be the player Sae wanted on his team. That requires him to be precise, elegant and efficient. Sae hasn't changed fundamentally as a person even after Spain, the core remains the same. He passes to people worth passing to. And in their old team, nobody was worth passing to except Rin. So it worked out, that Rin kept associating his plays, his dreams, his ambitions, with Sae.
Tumblr media
I think this is why he never had an "aura" of his own- or any sort of foundation of his own, at all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Sae knows this. That is exactly why this is one of the few times we see him genuinely curious (concerned?) about what Rin will do when Sae is gone. When it does have to require him thinking for himself, being his own person.
He's right to be worried.
Tumblr media
Because, as expected, instead of Rin becoming his own person, he takes Sae's playstyle and makes it his own. He's very good at it, mind you. Nobody understood Sae quite like he did, all this time. But it's not Itoshi Rin anymore- it really is, just, Itoshi Sae's little brother.
And he doesn't realise it just yet- but that becomes a trend. From here on out, that is what people will see him as. After all, he's made his playstyle to be viewed as such. Those elegant kicks and precise analytics that Isagi observes the first few times he plays with Rin- they're not completely Rins' at all. They're adapted, taken from Sae. It's why the beginning of the U20 Arc feels like looking at a better, more midfielder focused Rin.
It's always been the other way round.
And so, when Sae comes back four years later, he is understandably disappointed. Nor has he ever been once to mince his words. Rin could never understand- of course he couldn't, he doesn't know what's wrong. He's not letting Sae explain. Sae isn't about to explain, either. They SUCK AT COMMUNICATING, THE PAIR OF IDIOTS.
Rin, if there's one thing you shouldn't have taken from Sae, it was his pathetic style of communication.
(Rin notices how tired and unwell Sae looks- that one's more explored in the post I linked as my inspo. Not getting into that- maybe some other day? If people care enough to listen.) Rin, above all, feels betrayal and shock at the change of Sae's ambition. If Sae changed his dream, and Rin has been emulating his older brother all this time, what happens now?! What is he supposed to do!? There's really no point, then, if he can't play with Sae. The way he's been envisioning for years now. It's brutal, and it's also pathetic because neither of them care to listen to the other speak.
Sae will never understand how Rin's ambitions and connections to other people for his own sense of self work. Rin will never understand what Sae went through and why he changed. He will never know why Sae was so upset with Rin constantly, constantly viewing himself from someone else's lens.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Sae knows.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh, he knows.
But even after that- after ALL THAT, Rin will not think of himself as a separate entity. Nonono, now it's just- defeat Sae, instead of be with Sae. Sae, sae, sae, sae-
After Blue Lock, there's more labels that come in. He's Itoshi Sae's little brother, he's the Number 1 Striker in Blue Lock, he's Isagi's shadow, rival, partner, he's Shidou's foil, counter, the center piece for the Blue Lock 11 Team- (I remind you, again, of how his playstyle and moves are described. Beautiful. Elegant. Perfectly thought out. Now take those adjectives and use them for Sae. Don't they fit better?)
But he's never Rin. Heck, he's never ever ITOSHI Rin. Why would anyone see him as Rin alone? Part 2- Explores U20 and further.

The overlords’ persuasion, the Morningstar’s power, and what this means for Charlie
Hazbin Hotel's been rotating in my head since the finale and I have capital-t Thoughts about the worldbuilding (and its implications). So!
Hazbin Hotel’s power system is fundamentally divided into two parts: the overlords, whose abilities are fully tied to and determined by their connections with other denizens, and the Morningstars/other Hell-born aristocracy, whose abilities are innate and unchanging. I think this is why Lucifer is incredibly powerful while not really having power, the overlords seem to be running the show, and Charlie’s character has a lot left to come.
(This got pretty long and there are spoilers, so I’m putting it under a cut!)
Lucifer doesn’t have much authority—the meeting to decide the fate of hell is attended by only the overlords, other demons repeatedly dismiss Charlie (often even using her relationship with her dad to do so), and when we do finally meet the King of Hell himself, it’s when he’s engaged in a hobby which he clearly has a lot of free time for. When Charlie needs large numbers of allies, it’s Alastor and Rosie who coordinate to get them for her, and Alastor is terrified of Zestiel but told Lucifer “fuck you” to his face. Lucifer doesn’t have any control over his subjects.
However, he is still incredibly powerful. He and Charlie, whose powers presumably came from him, defeated Adam, and in the finale sequence he conjured the foundation for a whole hotel without any strain.
The overlords function in the exact opposite way: their powers are gained through their various relationships with other people, and can be influenced as such. Most obviously, Carmilla Carmine explicitly tells Vaggie that the best way to fight is for love, but Rosie is powerful because of the ways she can provide for people and gain their loyalty. Alastor’s known to have bought souls to do his bidding, and the Vees are all themed around ways to influence people (pornography, TV, and social media), and at least one of them also has contracts for souls.
“Hell’s Greatest Dad” illustrates both the overlords’ and the aristocracy’s perspectives. Regardless of how authentic Alastor is being in his claims in the song, it can be assumed that he’s doing everything he can to convince Charlie to work with him, and Lucifer is doing the same. However, their approaches are polar opposites.
Lucifer’s persuasion relies on his innate abilities: he calls himself “the big boss of Hell himself,” and says that he can help “with the punch of a pentagram / I wap-bam-boom, alakazam / Usually I charge a sacrificial lamb / But you get the family rate.” This emphasizes both his familial (and unchangeable) tie to Charlie and his inborn abilities, which come up again when he says “there’s no substitute for pure angelic power.”
The reasons that Alastor cites for why he should be chosen are all based in the actions that he’s done for Charlie, and the resulting relationship that they have because of those actions. He emphasizes his consistency (“who’s been here since day one”) and reliability (who’s been faithful as a nun), both of which are good traits for an overlord to have.
I think this contrast is why Mimzy has to show up when she does: there is no way to resolve the argument about whether to choose that which has been built or that which you were born with. And that’s because of Charlie. Charlie’s dad was never mortal, but her mom was. None of the overlords have been called immortal, but many of them are confirmed to have been mortal. A large part of Charlie’s arc in season 1 is her learning how to connect with the people around her and get them to believe in her. She is, in many ways, beginning to function like an overlord would. With one major difference.
We know that Husk used to be an overlord, most likely one of gambling. Gambling is really three things: chance, skill, and being able to read other people without them being able to read you. And from what we know of overlords, getting that status requires all of those traits. Chance and skill exist in any field, but the ability to see past other’s facades without revealing your own hand is incredibly important here, to the point where it’s Alastor’s whole shtick—a smile is a way of staying in control.
But where overlords try to read those around them while keeping their own feelings hidden, Charlie always has her heart on her sleeve. When she goes to cannibal town, Alastor’s advice that she always smile quickly stops working, and only after she’s processed her feelings about Vaggie by talking with Rosie is she able to convince people to follow her.
But this is still only half of what she’s potentially capable of. We haven’t seen her try to battle anyone on her own and win—the closest we got was Valentino, but she quickly backed down from that. Since a second season is scheduled, my bet is that it’ll follow her learning the extent of her innate powers, and how to pair them with her connections to others—after all, she is the only character with both mortal an immortal lineages.

Regardless of what his relationship was with the twins, this whole arc made me realise how truly painful the whole ordeal had been for Cross.
Tumblr media
He's known them since they were kids. And then Nea died in a horribly awful way and left a message that merely said "Find and protect Allen", and Mana lost his mind and memories and morphed into someone who was barely a shell of himself and Cross had to witness his downward spiral till he drew his last breath.
Tumblr media
It must've been so deja vu for Cross. We don't know for sure if he was there when Nea and Mana were on the run from the previous gen of Noahs but Cross was Nea's ally. And at the very least he definitely knows how they struggled.
Tumblr media
And then Nea died and Mana kept running alone. With Nea's last words reverberating in his head that was otherwise empty of most of the other memories they shared. Cross at the very least had Tim. Even though he served as an painful reminder of the relationship he shared with the twins(and Nea in particular).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But Mana was alone till he met Allen(the dog). And then even Allen died and he couldn't even mourn him. It somehow led to him befriending Red, the real "Allen", which again, ultimately resulted in....
Tumblr media
And Cross had to witness all of that. He had to witness all of that and continue like nothing happened while also raising Allen and making sure he didn't find out any of it.
Its just so irrevocably sad
