Dad!Daemon as a disciplinarian and head of household
Do you think he has a hands on or off approach to parenting and discipline/teaching? (From the last ep it was def hands off … actually neglect but idk what the writers were doing). And how do you think he works with his partner in teaching and raising their children? Does he run his family with his same aggressive-“my way or the Highway”-behavior he shows in his earlier years or has children made him do a 180?

pairing: dad!daemon targaryen x mom!reader
reblogs, feedbacks and likes are appreciated. i hope you like it!
author's note: I'm in writing process of other dad!daemon requests stuff, but listen, your idea is AMAZING!!! And it fits really well in headcanon format. So here's what I think about Daemon's parenting.

During your first pregnancy, Daemon found himself in a crisis.
He had no idea how to be a father.
He was a ruthless warrior, for gods' sake! He never took care of children before.
He wasted time trying to remember some of his brother's actions when Rhaenyra was young, but that was no example for him.
Viserys is a king, so it was never expected of him to take care of his daughter, or even educate her. And he never did.
Daemon remembers his father really well. He was 20 when Baelon passed away, and that's the only example of parenting he had.
Daemon knew in his heart he had a great father, and that's what he wanted to be for his children.
You were a few moons away from giving birth, and your husband couldn't stop babbling about baby names, and picking a good dragon egg to place in the crib, and fantasizing about taking the child to meet Caraxes, and...
Honestly, you couldn't wait for the child to be born.
And when Rhaegon finally arrived into your life, Daemon became everything he said he would be.
He was terrified at first. The man had no idea how to hold a child, he only held swords in his entire life.
But eventually he figured it was easier than it looked like.
Years later, Daemon learned that taking care of a child and raising a child are two completely different things.
Rhaegon was three when you had your baby girl, Alyssa.
Daemon fell in love. And when her little hands touched his face for the first time, he felt loved.
The Rogue Prince couldn't be burned by fire, but time was the thing that made his heart ache.
Alyssa was growing up quickly, and Daemon felt the years passing by like a sharp valyrian blade cutting through his skin.
In the eyes of her father, Alyssa Targaryen was perfect. She had your beauty, your delicacy, but she also had his temper.
"But I told you not to play in the dragonpit!" Daemon scolded her while washing her dust stained platinum hair.
"Aegon said it would be fun!" Alyssa retorted.
"Dreamfyre is not to play with, she could have burned you. And, you shouldn't be with Aegon, I don't want you near him again. He's much older than you."
"But why is it a problem?" The little girl protested.
"Because I said so."
"But why?! Aegon is funny, and Rhaegon doesn't let me play with him and Luke and Jace. At least Aegon doesn't make me wanna smack his face like Rhaegon does." Alyssa murmured.
"Alyssa, don't say that! And certainly, do not hurt your brother. Listen, I'm gonna talk to him, okay? But you need to promise me that you'll never listen to Aegon again. Do not trust that kid, none of them."
Daemon couldn't bear the thought of his eight year old daughter hanging around the thirteen year old prince. He knew Aegon was some kind of pervert, and he did not wanted that boy near his little girl.
Daemon never lost his temper with his kids.
He feared that someday they would be scared of him.
But he knew how to lecture his children.
"Your sister told me you don't let her play with you and Rhaenyra's boys. Mind tell me why's that?"
"She's a girl! She could be playing with Helaena, why do I have to play with her?" Rhaegon rolled his eyes.
"Because she is your sis– Did you just roll your eyes at me?" Daemon stared at his son with a menacing gaze that immediately made the boy shake.
"N-no...?"
"I think you did. I think you rolled your eyes at me, Rhaegon." Daemon gave one step ahead, and his giant form towered the boy's body.
"I'm sorry, father. I'll ask Alyssa to play with Jace, Luke and me."
"You better, boy." Daemon said with a stern voice before leaving the room.
You tried not to interfere in Daemon's way of scolding the kids, but if you thought he was being too much, then you would say something.
Sometimes he would make the children eat alone in their chambers if they'd misbehave.
Sometimes he would make them do chores.
Sometimes he would just ground them in their rooms.
But he never, ever, raised his hand to touch one of his children.
Daemon had killed so many men in battle, but had never hurt a child in his whole life. He intended to stay that way.
Daemon Targaryen could be many terrible things, but he certainly was not a bad father.
He would rather die before hurting one of his children.
And when Maegon was born, he couldn't wait to go through the beginning of parenting all over again.

You seem to be the only one making brokerdoll (thanks for the ship name btw) content, and I wanted to know if you have any more headcannon s, or just general thoughts on the ship. I'm starved for content
okay a. you are so welcome for the ship name i shit you not i spent like ten minutes just being like WHAT DO I CALL THEM because i couldn't figure out a word that would go well with "doll" (as velvette's ship names tend to have in them)
ANYWAY!! HEADCANONS !! i had a post uuuh here (that took me so much longer to find than it should have) of some hcs but here are some more!! (if this took forever to get out i apologize my brain is working at 2 wpm rn and sometimes thinking of hcs is hard)
after they started dating, carmilla starts buying velvette clothes she sees that she thinks velvette will love
spoiler alert: every single piece she buys for vel is exactly her style
i like to imagine carmilla is pleasantly rich, even in comparison to the other overlords, because her weapons and parts and whatnot just sell super well
so she gets so much money to spoil velvette with and she UTILIZES it
velvette's love language i imagine is acts of service or getting gifts (she knows they love her when they get her stuff) and carmilla's is gift giving, which neither of them seemed to realize until velvette literally squealed in joy when carmilla bought her a jewellery set she'd been wanting for FOREVER
also since singing is apparently just a canon thing in the hazbin universe, i cannot for the life of me stop imagining pre-relationship velvette sneaking vox's camera footage from inside carmilla's bunker(?) (of which he got velvette, conveniently, to put there after the overlord meeting) onto her phone just to listen to carmilla sing over and over and over again.
vox and val HAVE walked into her room to see her with her phone sitting on her dresser, watching the same footage of carmilla singing out for love for the 138147985th time
(they don't question it because lets be real they have their obsessions too)
post-relationship, velvette probably posts a bunch of fake online drama about her and carmilla because she thinks its funny to see people being like OMG??? WHAT NO WAY
carmilla is like "cariño why are you posting that we broke up. again." and velvette is like "just for funsies, babe <3"
velvette probably ends up showing carmilla how to use social media because let's be so fr she probably has no clue
velvette loves running her fingers through carmilla's hair and probably has just as much fun actually doing it up as carmilla has with velvette's
painting nails ?? carmilla paints velvette's and paints little white swirl designs over the black polish and velvette draws cute little pink hearts on carmilla's
(yes, they do both get questioned about it)
velvette probably wanted to start a friends w/ benefits (or enemies with benefits) relationship with carmilla but she knew for a fact carmilla would deny INSTANTLY
ok look they aren't married but matching rings ... carmilla wears hers as a necklace and velvette shows off her ring (that she keeps saying is "marriage proposal material" when its not) to literally everyone forever
possessive carmilla? only slightly. she glares daggers and probably throws said daggers at anyone who tries anything to velvette
pre-relationship velvette pining she progressively started sitting closer and closer to carmilla during meetings until she was in the chair next to her like zestial is during ep 3
(she lies out her ass and says it's "so i can annoy her easier, obviously" but she's just gay)
(carmilla starts noticing when velvette starts arriving to meetings earlier rather than later so she can get the seat she wants)
also velvette probably ended up convincing staticmoth to stay away from overlord meetings specifically so they can't tease her for being head over heels in hate-love with carmilla when she's in the same vicinity as her (of which they agree with because its more time for them to do What Ever The Fuck Their Gay Asses Do)
(also vox has cameras set up at the meeting room)
(guess who gets teased to heaven and back by two (2) overlords when she gets home)
(they both know the struggles of a weird obsession with another demon, they know how to poke and prod at velvette until she admits her gayness to them)
they probably ended up convincing her to confess tbh
(which doesnt happen for Several Years, probably)
either that, or carmilla finds a letter on her chair in the meeting room signed "~V" and opens it and it just says "we should be homos" or something stupid like that AJHAKASHJ
firm hc that velvette cannot confess for her fucking life . she doesnt like being vulnerable
lucky for her, carmilla 100% sends back a letter thats signed with "C. Carmine" and says "We can date, if that's what you mean by "being homos"" or something HAHAHASGFJ

So, I decided to rewatch ep 10 again, and it actually becomes more painful with every rewatch guys. It's so well done, definately one of my fav episodes other than ep 6 and 3rd and 4th part of ep 7. Babe crying asking for Charlie, wanting, needing him back, not giving two shits about the powers he regained, something which were so important to him, something that made him "Pit Babe", 'cause he no longer want to be anything but his lover's "phi babe". This paralleling to ep 5 of Babe saying if he can't race, he won't be anything. It's the way, Babe could finally race now without having any hindrance, but he can't. It's the way the powers he used to boost are something so annoying and undesirable 'cause their return is a reminder that Charlie is dead. It's the way Charlie once in ep 2(?) said to way, "I am just a sex partner, what a person like me be?", maybe an excuse back then but still painful considering how so many times Charlie gets refered to be someone inferior, inferior to babe, and he is not even bothered by it 'cause he himself knows he is nothing to babe. It's the way he expected Babe to get bored of him, it's the way he didn't expect anything back. This paralleling to Babe saying he misses him, he loves him, and he doesn't want to forget him, ever. The way he was breaking down, every part of his heart crying for Charlie, it's the way he talks to the grave as if Charlie can really hear him, it's the way he wants to keep those gloves, as a reminder that Charlie existed and his existence changed his fucking life, a reminder that he loves Charlie and will always do. It's the way he carried those gloves, looking at those, always tearing up thinking about his beloved, everywhere. I can't stop thinking about the fact that he most probably slept hugging those gloves during their time apart. So much grief, so much guilt, so much love and care for that person who thought he was replaceable and he was not even there to witness it. I will never get over how Babe got over Way so soon 'cause he had a place to go back to, an embrace to hold him, a safe space, a genuine lover but when he was gone, he wanted to embrace him, wanted to kiss away his pain, wanted to be his safe space but couldn't because the other is lifeless. "I am sorry I always talked bad to you", it's the way I always end up saying "no love you didn't" 'cause it was not his fault and Charlie knows that. But one moment which always makes me loose it, is when he says "why aren't you responding Charlie?". The denial is painful, obviously, but it's the way after all their arguments, it was always Charlie who apologised or tried to break off the tension, so, those words become so much more painful, 'cause it's like him saying, "what happened Charlie, why are you not coming to talk, why are you not saying anything, you never go silent on me, are you upset, should I be the one to apologise first this time, huh?, you will talk then, right?" And then the kiss.

Ninjago hcs
Kai's(Smith-Jiang family's) eye color hcs:either amber, brown or sea-green eyes just like Maya's,while Nya has brown(I think this one is canon) and Ray has amber/brown eyes
After unmerging with the sea Nya's eyes started changing colors to match the nearest body of water:sea-green when near the ocean, grayish when near something like a bottle of water or sink water and etc. They will also turn glowing blue when she uses her powers on a large scale (they once turned blood-red bc she was treating an injury and blood has water in it)
Post-Crystallized:sometimes parts of her body would turn into liquid during the adjusting to being a human again(during which her eyes would be white like the foam)
After unmerging with the sea her powers became even more stronger and easier to control. After all,Nya was one with them for an entire year
The reason Nya couldn't get out the water in Jay's lungs during Seabound was because all of it kept responding, including blood and the water in Jay's body and she couldn't risk drawing out too much water and/or blood to help Jay
Pixal has Jay saved in her contacts as "extra charger"
The pink clothes Nya wore during Prime Empire shorts were given to her by Cole(they used to be Lilly's)
Nya makes the best coffee, not even Zane can match her skill there and surprisingly enough, Cole is a close second when it comes to drinks
The public didn't know Nya used to be Samurai X until a new one showed up and ninja had to answer some questions during interviews
Kai is a history nerd
All the ninja know basic first-aid,though Nya and Zane are the best medics.Kai is/was good with taking care of dragons
For a while after he learned that he was a nindroid,Zane didn't know how his body functioned beyond the basics. It's after HoT that he started learning more about himself instead of relying on Pixal,Jay or Nya all the time
All the ninja wear a bracelet that is made of interwined threads of their colors (gray for Nya,purple for Pix,gold for Wu and the rest are obvious)
Nya loves animals(this one is based on Wu's teas ep and how she seemed to like Zippy in the Island)
All the ninja+Pix see Wu as a father figure(even if some of them already have fathers)
Same with Misako
Mrs.Benedict constantly scares Lloyd by appearing out of nowhere in the weirdest places
Mrs.Benedict loves Nya and Pixal the most out of the entire group
After Seabound-Crystallized Nya always smells like sea and the salty air of the beach
Wu and Misako are best friends(the love triangles/angles in ninjago are a pain,so I'm ignoring them),but when it comes to history they're rivals worse than Oni and Dragons,FSM and Overlord combined. It's always fun for the ninja to watch their debates(especially when Misako is right bc those are the times when Wu says that he was there when the events happened)
Garmadon and Maya were best friends, same with Ray and Wu
Wu is Kai's godfather,Garmadon and Misako are Nya's
Wu anonymously helped Smith-Jiang siblings when he heard that their parents were gone, but he didn't take them in for two reasons: he wasn't doing well after Garm's banishment and he didn't have a legal identity to prove that he could take the siblings(not that it would have stopped him,but the first point stands)
Jay and Nya weren't in a relationship until s6, they weren't a couple during or before s3,but did go on dates or hangouts
Nya has a green burn-scar thing from Tiger Widow venom
Nya misses being a part of the sea and hates herself for it
Zane sometimes missed the cold of the Never-realm and how close he was to his element as Ice Emperor
Nya still has marks all over her body from merging with the sea and sometimes they glow
Elemental masters are naturally more durable and stronger than humans(the reason Cole managed to survive the Oni clouds) and once they master their powers, they age slower too (they look younger than they actually are)

(🔴) ... [ NOW PLAYING ] [ STARSTRUCK] EP. 1 | 마크를 찾아서 !
Tumblr media
(🤍)... outfit for the video !
Tumblr media
"how does it feel to be home?" she turned to haechan. "what?" she said. "how does it feel to be home?" he repeated , mark rubbed his temples. "im not from la id- both of you stop it." she kissed the back of her teeth.
"do you know what 'starstruck' means?" the staff asked. "cece." jeno turned to her. "Wah, its jeno!" she said plainly. "that's what it means."
"mark?" "when you see a celebrity ... you're so surprised , it's something like that right?" he said. "when you see a celebrity?" jeno questioned. "uh- um i can't think right now." mark said, she laughed. "this is making it seem like we're dumb."
"starstruck means to be fascinated by stare like you." the staff explained. "told you." she said.
"today, we're giving you a special chance to repay starstruck kpop fans here in la." they all clapped. "that's great!" they boosted.
"todays reactions are going to be real." chenle said. "But!" the staff interrupted. "we can't just give you the chance... you must clear four quests today, to earn the food truck to repay your fans." the pd said. "we can do it!" They cheered each other on. "maybe." she said. "stop being negative."
"your first quest." they listened closely. "is to find mark in la." they were confused. "excuse me?" she said.
"we have to find a mark?" jaemin asked. "really? you're kidding me?" she asked, they all were a bit shocked.
"wow... this is going to be hard." most of them were a bit shocked and nervous about the quest. "i think it will be fun." chenle said. "la is pretty big and we're supposed to 3 of them, odds are crazy." she said. "and we can't count our mark as one?"
no they couldn't — they split up into teams. "let's do some shopping." mark joked.
they went into the apple store hoping to find a mark , sadly they couldn't film in the store , and there wasn't any marks in there anyway."
"this is so nerve wracking." she stressed. "like the most basic name and we can't find it." mark scoffed. "no offense mark." she said.
"are you sure there are a lot of marks?" jeno questioned. "where there any marks during school?"
"my teacher name was mark." the older boy said. "the boy who lived next door from me, his name was mark." she said. "and there were two marks in my class, so i guess we just have bad luck."
"this is really hard everyone." mark said. "this is like being dropped off in the desert."
"you go ask them." mark pointed. "who." she hoped he wasn't talking to her. "you go." he said. "b-but why." she said. "because you haven't asked anyone , go."
"but they look like they're my age." she said. "that's terrifying." she said, walking over to the group of people. "h-hi." she waved, they politely spoke back. "this is a weird question, but is there any chance any of you named mark?"
they looked at her confused , before shaking their heads. "no." she pouted, turning to jeno and mark. "no." she turned to walk away, but one of them stopped her.
"im a fan." she smiled. "you are!" she exclaimed. "oh my god." she laughed. "can i have your autograph." the boy handed her a pen. "sure." she quickly signed it. "thank you." she waved walking away.
"they knew who we were." she said, meeting back up with them. "they wanted my sign." she held on to jenos jacket to keep up. "but still no mark."
"people must think we're crazy." she laughed. "we're walk around asking if they're named mark with a bunch of cameras." she laughed at the situation. "our cece is going a little crazy right now." mark said. "she doesn't get out much." "im stressed."
"should we give up and go back?" jeno said after much walking around. "this is so hard." she said. "maybe we're just not looking in the right place."
they both started calling out the name, making her cover her red face. "this is so." she was going through it to say the least. "yo mark!"
"yeah?" someone said making her stop. "what's your name?" she asked the boy. "mark." she gasped, stopping the boys. "his name is mark."
"that's actually crazy." their mark said. "wassup man."
they exchanged pleasantries with the couple in front of them. "so do you have any plans for today?" their mark asked. "why does it sound like you're asking him on a date?".
"im gonna see frank ocean tonight." mark number 2 said. "im jealous." she said.
they finally found their mark, taking them back to where the others were, to meet the other marks.
"they're having a mark meet up." she laughed to the camera, listening to their conversation.
chenle and jisung finally returned with another mark, completing the mission. "finally!" she clapped. "we did it."

BLEACH TYBW Anime Cour 2 Booklet: Behind the Scenes [Translation - Part 2]
Translated by @reikorun
Section 4
Scene Direction & "BLEACH" In-depth
13. A colorful, spinning pinwheel. When it suddenly stops and disappears into a black mist, that was the signal for the invasion to begin. (ep. #14)
D: Tomohisa Taguchi
I truly think that was a job very well done by Murata-san, who was in charge of directing this storyboard. I reckon the idea that peace ends the moment the pinwheel stops may have resonated deeply with viewers as an abstract motif.
14. The organization known as the "Sternritter" and its members are explored in depth in the anime. In order to strengthen the impression of their unity as a group, one additional element introduced in the anime is the concept and designation of "Wörtlich", which is the collective term for those who have been bestowed a Schrift by Yhwach. (ep. #15)
D: Tomohisa Taguchi
Keeping in mind the idea of placing focus on the group that is the "Sternritter", when I revisited the original work, I noticed that each character's personality was so unique that there weren't many scenes where they assembled as a group and did something together. Therefore, we added a scene where the Grandmaster, Haschwalth, is positioned as the leader and the Wörtlich who possess a Schrift are gathered together in the same room. We structured it with a view to explicitly define what their purpose is and what kind of group they are. By doing so, I believe we were able to more clearly present the policy held unanimously by the Quincy side, that is, "to completely annihilate the Shinigami." During that meeting, we also had Haschwalth demonstrate his leadership by explaining the significance of "killing the Captains with their own stolen Bankai" in a way that is easy to understand even for new viewers.
A: Tite Kubo
It's a scene where they all come together in the same place, typical of BLEACH, isn't it? I suppose It's a homage to the past compositions where the Shinigami and Espada hold meetings, and it turned out to be something more than just fan service.
15. As for Giselle, Liltotto and Meninas, "Vollständig - Sklaverei" is depicted following on from Quilge, incorporating a "transformation scene" unique to the anime. (ep. #21)
D: Tomohisa Taguchi
When explaining "Sklaverei" to Satō-san, who was in charge of directing the episode in question, it all started when I said, "It's about gathering Reishi from the surroundings to power up and take on something like a second form." When I looked at the storyboard that was sent up to me, it had turned into a scene reminiscent of the magical girl genre, so to speak. I was in two minds after I was asked "Isn't this what you meant…?" But I adopted the idea after considering that, in its own way, it could accentuate the individuality and presence of their characters.
A: Tite Kubo
I also couldn't help but laugh in a positive sense after seeing the staging of that transformation scene. I thought "magical girl, huh!?" (Laughs) I originally created the five members of the Bambies with the image of an idol group and sentai-like shows in mind, so it seemed like a perfect fit.
16. The volume of combat scenes involving the Bambies itself has also increased. (ep. #21)
D: Tomohisa Taguchi
As for their entrance in episode #21, I wanted to expand on Ichigo's battle scenes upon his return to the Seireitei, this was a moment where I felt it may be possible to make that happen. This is the scene in which Ichigo draws his sword for the first time after having undergone training in Irazu Sandō, and it's precisely because extra scenes were being added that I felt it's the place where I wanted to try doing that. When I asked Kubo-sensei to design the Sklaverei forms for Candice and the others, we received materials on their techniques along with it, further accelerating the process. Although Kubo-sensei had mentioned that we didn't have to use everything, the more we looked at it, the more we wanted to incorporate it all, and the result is what you see.
A: Tite Kubo
I handed over the materials thinking that there was absolutely no way it would all fit given the time constraints, but surprisingly, everything was included. During the dubbing session, I was astonished to see that the number of shots had increased significantly compared to other episodes (laughs).
Tumblr media
17. The spotlight was also cast on battles such as Kuchiki Byakuya vs NaNaNa Najahkoop, Robert Accutrone and Candice Catnipp. (ep. #23)
D: Tomohisa Taguchi
In the original work, they simply appear in one panel after being defeated by Byakuya, don't they? We decided to take the liberty of supplementing the parts where we thought such a battle would have taken place. Since the TV anime follows a fixed length format, there are often times where it becomes necessary to extend the duration while deciding which part of the story to depict and where it should start and end. On such occasions, you can find the answer by rereading the original work. Given that there are as many battles as there are characters, we pick out what's likely to be the scenes that fans would like to see from among the parts that were omitted in the original work, and so we took the opportunity to add those part in thinking "let's track the movements of this character until they appear again in this panel."
18. The power of Gremmy's "The Visionary" may have troubled the production team the most. (ep. #20)
D: Tomohisa Taguchi
I think it was challenging for the animators. After all, Gremmy can do just about anything. An all-out battle demonstrated by an individual who possesses an extraordinary power, capable of instantly creating huge debris, a large volume of water, a countless number of firearms, and to top it all off, even a colossal meteorite and the vacuum of space. If we ended up condensing it to be more brief, Gremmy's power itself becomes proportionally smaller, so I think it was a part that required energy and perseverance.
A: Tite Kubo
This aspect turned out to be a difficult scene to depict even in the original work (laughs). The CG of the firearms and the choreography of Kenpachi when he slashes the meteorite were also great.
Tumblr media
19. Kuchiki Rukia's Bankai, "Hakka no Togame". Its checks were carried out carefully. (ep. #19)
D: Tomohisa Taguchi
If you look at the panels in the original work, there is something like an updraft in a place that appears to be above Rukia, along with a circular area reminiscent of the Tsukishiro unleashed by her Sode no Shirayuki. I didn't quite understand how Rukia performs Bankai, what kind of phenomena occurs, or what mechanism it was that brought down Äs Nödt, so I asked Kubo-sensei: “Sequentially, when activating her Bankai, a freezing mist resembling the surface of a lake appears beneath her feet and in the sky, with a column of freezing mist emanating from Rukia herself piercing through the center.” We have faithfully reflected that. Furthermore, the slight translucency of Rukia's hair and skin is an original expression of the anime.
A: Tite Kubo
During the storyboarding stage, Taguchi-san had noted down "it's so beautiful that it takes your breath away (that's the kind of visual we need to incorporate)." So I've been looking forward to the finished product ever since. Regarding the framework of this Bankai too, I created the materials for it while looking back at my original work and retracing my memories from that time. That task was also fun. Additionally, the length of this episode had slipped into overtime, but since Äs Nödt is a character who tends to talk ominously for long periods of time, which is a 'characteristic trait' that defines him, we discussed if we could somehow manage without cutting anything. Ultimately, I had it made into a special ending format, I thought to myself how exceedingly well it turned out in the end.
20. Zero Division vs the Schutzstaffel. While adhering to the source material, the development spun in the anime original culminates in Shutara Senjumaru, thus raising expectations for the third cour. (ep. #26)
D: Tomohisa Taguchi
As for the battle scene at the Soul King Palace, which can also be described as a clash between the strongest forces of both factions, I wanted to cast more of a spotlight on Uryū, who has been positioned as the face of the second cour. Although Kubo-sensei couldn't draw him due to page limitations, the Uryū that he wanted to draw must be somewhere. I want to see and portray the Bankai of Zero Division. That's the sort of thing I had in mind. So, I contemplated the matter in my head, hoping to express it in the anime, including the motive behind it. After formulating various plans, I presented my ideas to Kubo-sensei, and thus with a significant amount of cooperation from sensei, an anime episode like no other was completed.
21. The chosen, Shutara Senjumaru, and her Bankai. (ep. #26)
D: Tomohisa Taguchi
Once the idea of "Zero Division Bankai" is settled upon, the next challenge arises: "whose Bankai will it be?" In the case of Senjumaru, who bears the meaning of 'having a thousand arms' in her name, we assumed she probably specializes in doing battle with several opponents at the same time. Believing that It is precisely because she is suited for one-to-many battles, we considered her to be the person that the other members of Squad Zero could entrust their fight to without hesitation, so we proposed this to Kubo-sensei from the anime side around the same time.
The visual for Senjumaru's Bankai itself was a completely original idea which we received from Kubo-sensei. The visual based on a giant loom and the depiction of its activation, abilities and techniques were also provided by Sensei through illustrated materials which he had drawn up for us. We then proceeded to develop a scenario based on that as a matter of course. We went through quite a number of drafts for the scene, but I believe it was an episode that was truly worth the effort. The scenario was finalized, and when it came time to consider how it could then be incorporated into a storyboard, we were fortunate to receive further guidance from Sensei on how to depict the scene. I'm not sure of the correct way to word this, but I believe we were able to deliver something with an impact which screams "This is BLEACH!" beyond what was imagined in the scenario. The enthusiasm of everyone involved is particularly evident.

If I were to choose one person with the given course of events, I'd also have thought it would be Senjumaru who would take responsibility for turning the tide of this battle, so when I heard from the anime side that they wanted to make Senjumaru the Zero Division character to perform Bankai, I sensed the depth of understanding the anime production team had for the work the moment they made that proposal without me even saying anything. I am very grateful. It was also interesting how, in the process leading up to her Bankai, they cleverly utilized the idea that being part of the Zero Division means they're ready to die. The way the seals of the four individuals were depicted is also great.

Section 5
THE BLEACH
22. The author's involvement as "general supervisor" continues into the second cour of this work. What are their thoughts on this production style?
D: Tomohisa Taguchi
Through our interactions and output of materials in the first cour, I suppose the feeling is "this is how we're going to do things" and there's a sense that Kubo-sensei's position as a staff member has solidified as we've progressed. In other words, it's like we've gotten even closer to Kubo-sensei…! What do you think, Kubo-sensei!?
As far as the anime side is concerned, there's a certain level of "familiarity" in a positive sense, and in addition to that, It seems like a style is emerging that encompasses a sense of pressure and a sense of purpose, and I feel like we've been able to establish a relationship where we can easily express our opinions and also share our concerns with each other. For example, when trying to animate "Getsuga Jūjishō" in a cool looking way, I asked sensei about the way Jūjishō should appear after we struggled with posing the two swords. In an anime-oriented mindset, when a character wields two swords, it tends to result in poses where the body opens up or where one sword is raised. Thinking, "that's different from the stance Ichigo from 'BLEACH' takes", we were able to create the current sequence precisely because we could consult with the author about what should be done. I received the following response: "Regarding Jūjishō, the vertical Getsuga generated from Zangetsu in the right hand is violently hit against the first Getsuga generated horizontally by Zangetsu in the left hand. At that moment, energy is infused from the vertical Getsuga into the horizontal one, forming a gigantic cross. It advances forward through the propulsive force of the vertical Getsuga. Therefore, his posture after its activation ends up in a pose where one foot is left heavily leaning inward." Taking that as a hint, we applied it to the visuals.
We've reached a point where we are able to comprehend Kubo-sensei's deep insights better, making it even easier to reflect them in the anime, and I'm sure if we dig deeper in this regard, Kubo-sensei will guide our ideas to even greater heights! There are some instances where we gain motivation like "let's thoroughly pour our hearts and souls into creating ideas that form the groundwork for that!" On the other hand, there are also times where we make a judgment call and say "let's try to ask Kubo-sensei about this from the get-go!" I think it was the second cour where that type of communication became a great deal easier. The third cour and beyond will also be very lively, so please look forward to it!
A: Tite Kubo
In a sense, drawing the rough draft for Senjumaru's battle scene was also a moment where I felt relief, I was able to convey everything I ever wanted to express, and I realized that it wouldn't be a hindrance to the team on the production side. The anime production team were able to make suggestions based on a thorough understanding of the original work, which motivated me as well. Director Taguchi said, "it's like we've gotten closer," but it's not even a question of closeness. After working through the first and second cours, I feel like I've become fully integrated as a member of the staff, so thank you for your continuous support!

So I think the worst take of the fandom is that all of the problems of the show would have been fixed had it gotten a full S3. That literally any problem the show had merely came from the shortening. This is... Well, just blatantly shows that the fandom not only doesn't understand how the animation industry works AND doesn't want to actually look at the narrative they did choose to focus on post the shortening call that were just... baffling.
So first let's establish how much of the show was affected by the Shortening. As a fandom, we found out about it during the hiatus between S1 and 2. This was at earliest, August 2020 since the S1 finale came out late August 2020. Dana has claimed two things that are important to this timeline. 1: The shortening was decided on shortly before the finale came out and 2: That the first episode affected by Covid, which would have been back in March/April, was Looking Glass Ruins. So we EXPLICTLY know that the shortening didn't affect the show until after S2 Ep 5.
BUT then we get into production schedules. Before S2 even BEGAN airing, we were told to stop campaigning for a full S3 because they had to get started on storyboards for the season and that was effectively the firm deadline. This means ALL of S2 was effectively done in script and storyboards by the time S2 aired. This makes sense to keep a weekly schedule and the like and most animation professionals will tell you they work MONTHS in advance of release, bare minimum.
This means, AT BEST, S2B was when the shortening really kicked in. And yes, S2B has pacing issues. It has issues in general and is when most people think the quality of the show dropped. The problem is that... The signs were always there. There's a reason why there's been a backlash because as people become disillusioned with the show, you have to ask what was driving so much before.
And a lot of that was potential. S1 is so good when you first watch it because it keeps teasing the idea that it's going to tackle things in a complex way. That it will explore concepts like Amity's abusive family, magic, fantasy vs reality, etc. like that. It's why the fandom was at its strongest during S1.
Unfortunately, the problem with presenting good ideas and then not executing on them, or completely gutting them is that those old parts are a lot harder to enjoy. As Willow was effectively not a character for half a season and then just suddenly was a jock, people began to realize the fact that she in the show is much more a plot device than anything else. They claimed "We're not doing the one kind act into friendship and forgiveness thing with Amity and Willow" and then literally did NOTHING with it until S2B and eventually DID just do the same trope anyways but now with less resonance than it would have had in Understanding Willow.
Not only that but even S1 didn't give a single shit about its worldbuilding. The First Day has Dana Terrace as a lead writer on it. If anyone knows the worldbuilding best, it should be her... So why is it that no one talks about multi-coven things being illegal? It's literally just used as meta commentary and so they entirely ignore the worldbuilding they have. Reaching Out is exactly the same, with Dana as the SOLE writer of that where Amity and everyone else treats joining a coven like going to college and not literally the word of the law.
But S1 couldn't even keep Wild Witches consistent. Half the time Eda can chill and not worry. She can go to a place funded by the EC like Hexide and not flinch for a second that Bump might call the guards on her despite that being kind of the ONE real rule to their society that makes it not just our world but with teeth. Then again, the show gives NO FUCKS about its own stuff, willing excising portions of itself that it finds cumbersome. Escaping Expulsion is BEFORE Looking Glass Ruins and yet it murders Luz's magical potential in its sleep and also discards Amity's family as easily disposable, despite how much the show claims her mother's influence is the reason why Amity behaved the way she did for all of... Three appearances? Because Amity's arc isn't actually good.
It shouldn't be surprising S2 would do this though when the writers already struggled to do anything with Luz's magic. If she's supposed to be learning and growing... Even S1 is shit at this and is repetitive. Not just with the at least three times we do "King has a minion!" B plot that isn't funny and doesn't do anything but also with its lessons. Luz theoretically learns to listen to Eda in the third episode and arguably the second as well. Then she gets her first glyph with the lesson, in theory. of not trying to take shortcuts to do magic and to not steal. And then in Adventure in the Elements, not even to impress Amity but because of her impatience, she steals something to take a shortcut to stronger magic. That is THREE episodes of the first TWELVE of the series. It usually takes most kids shows at least a LITTLE longer to be that bad at retreading its own lessons.
And the final part of this is that... S2 actually had to be effectively the exact same as it was for s3 to happen. You need the foreshadowing of the Collector for the Day of Unity. You need to FINALLY do something with Belos for the revelations of the Human Realm to happen and to do Luz's angst arc. You need Hunter to be at least 90% redeemed so he's there on their side during The Day of Unity, etc. like that. Then you get half a season in the human realm before coming back to the Isles for half a season, just like Amphibia did because returning home is the best mid-season finale you can have there. So any argument that a full S3 would have actually fixed issues with S2B is just... Wrong. The problems with S2B come with the fact that S2A wastes a FUCKTON of time on elements that don't matter.
Oh, and lest we forget that The Collector could have been cut. He had one appearance in a dream, that also doesn't make sense with his characterization, before S2B. In the fact, the crew has admitted as much. He was added AFTER the news of the Shortening because they always wanted to include a character like him so now that they didn't have the time for him... Cram him in anyways.
Could a show have EVER been saved when that's how they treat one of their two final antagonists? It's the sort of statement that just solidifies the idea that TOH didn't want three seasons. It wanted five... If not just to go on forever. To be the next monolithic show, even as it repeats character arcs, lessons and shrinks characters rather than expands them.
So no, the show isn't bad because of the shortening. The show is bad because the writing is bad.

So a review on Helluva boss So2 ep 6
Ok so gonna break this review down into positives and negatives with my additional thoughts.
Positives:
So always start off with this, big props and love to the animation team we know know and see your struggle working under Vivienne and animating her over-complicated designs. Props to the BG team really stunning backgrounds, was actually a bit over the top for me (Ozzie's palace and especially the dildo factory shit was moving way too fast) but did pause to have a look at the BGs it is really pretty, the shit pacing made everything a visual blur tho.
VA work stunning love always a joy to hear Alex and James in any VA work tho Fizz's song was eyyy not the best but don't blame Alex it was a shittly written song in general especially when it went to the heavy metal part, overstimulating af and again shit pacing during the song and the flashing visuals gave me a headache. Striker's new VA, Ed's voice really grew on me he should've been Striker in the 1st place because I know for a fact Norman couldn't reprise his role for future episodes.
I loved Ozzie and Fizz's relationship especially the end scene where you can see Ozzie development or got hold of the best technology to give Fizz functional limbs, was a tender scene their relationship and interactions made me smile. I'll give Viv 1 ty for not fucking up their relationship, ty Viv (I can be nice to her :). Tho 1 scene that bothered me... the 12 sec Ozzie dong scene 💀 my soul it was just so jarring especially with the fast pacing. Felt like a race car coming to an immediate stop then speeding off again. Would've like the scene replaced with Fizz telling Bliz something nice about Ozzie, why Fizz likes him. I'm tired of queer couples/pairings in this show describing their partner in 2 ways, 1. how good they are in bed or 2. they got x anatomy that's amazing. But its Viv writing this ep, sigh her and her damn middle school sex jokes I'll let it slide.
Now negatives:
I said it before I'll say it for all eternity, the pacing was dogshit bad oh my soul wtf... Viv, Adam whoever I know you guys don't listen to criticism but if any criticism you take fix your damn pacing 😑. I had to pause multiple times just to see what has happening, what was said, what this paper/sign etc said. It was bad, and that paired with the overdetailed BGs and character designs, for the 1st time ever I got overstimulted from a HB ep and had to take a 5 min break to rest my eyes (was by Fizz's song). Its a noisey spinning kaleidoscope this ep, so unpleasant and its all pacing. Stay on certain scenes a bit longer and allow the audience to take in the scene before them (that flackback scene) its makes a difference. If you get overwhelmed/overstimlated ect by such visuals I recommend watching the leaked episode its much better in terms of pacing since its mostly storyboards and there is no color, plus its just the VAs talking with no background music and zero to minimal sound effects.
I didn't care for Crimson in this episode, I know he became Viv's favorite 😒 but seeing this fucker back so soon, it wasn't enjoyable, especially since the only reason he's in this ep is for a "big score" 😑. Also I'm tired of this over convenient plots, Fizz so happened to be in the greed ring and so happened to run into Blitz and Striker so happened to be in greed meeting with Crim who need a man for a "big score" AND SO HAPPENED Striker sees Fizz/Blitz fighting outside the window 🙃. Its all too convenient for me it takes me out and I then think how the plot coming together is ridiculous.
Striker is so under utilized. Since Viv hates him (confirmed by sources I can't pull now apologies) and she wrote this episode, everything established of Striker in So1 is destroyed. He's a husk of his intended character, all talk no show, a misogynistic clown who you can see Viv has no care writing him properly because she doesn't like him which is fucking horrible, this woman will butcher an integral villian, one with a good motivation (he hates blue-bloods) all because "oh I don't like him he's not in my fav OC list", petty af.
Fizz's disability and how its handled, spoke about it in this post:
It still remains the same though now we see it wasn't Wally holding the cake just some other imp and the card Bliz made for Fizz was a love confession still doesn't justify his reaction shoving the imp and his still underlying jealousy of Fizz since they were young. Yes it was backing off from a love confession/ashamed he's not as good a performer as Fizz, Blitz was jealous of Fizz. Made another post saying how I like how Fizz sees his disability, he's content, happy, has Ozzie who understands him and even made/went out his way to get Fizz the best prosthetics to better his quality of life, I like that good on Fizzy :).
5. Going to be a separate long post on (ಠ_ಠ) Blitz, THE FUCKING BIRD IS BACK 💀💀💀 why your rotisserie chicken ass not in hospital or we just skipping past that and how Viv keeps I'm gonna say it, forcing her characters to have daddy issues by writing this fucking irritating basic fanfic trope of killing the mother offscreen/not having the mother in the picture/us seeing her face. A commenter pointed this out and it irritates me because its the 3rd time she does this, she show Tilla (Blitz's mom) in pictures, you think there would be an episode revolving around Blitz's childhood etc but no she's "in" a fast paced pitty party flashback. This woman really can't show an ounce of respect to any female characters.
This is all for now, will be making more posts the more this ep settles in.
Score: 4.7/10

Round 2, Match 59: Fukuzawa Yukichi vs. Optimus Prime
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Submitted kids:
Fukuzawa Yukichi: The entire detective agency (in order of acquisition— Ranpo, Yosano, Kunikida, Dazai, the Tanizaki siblings, Kenji, Atsushi, Kyoka)
Optimus Prime: Bumblebee, then depending on continuity, Cliffjumper, Smokescreen, Arcee, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, the Aerialbots, Sari Sumdac, Jack Darby, Miko Nakadai, Raf Esquivel, and possibly others
Propaganda under the cut!
Fukuzawa Yukichi:
1. “At about 32 he used to be an bodyguard for hire who only works alone then he met this 14 year old (Ranpo) who had no parents and was kicked out of the police academy. He ended up feeding him (I think Ranpo was homeless at this point not 100% sure tho. He is also a genius estimated iq as high as 200) and said he would help him free of charge (bodyguard) if he called. He ended up getting called and investigated something with him. Ranpo saw the world very plainly and cried to Fukuzawa about how scary it is. Fukuzawa helped Ranpo realize that not everyone is pretending not to know things they literally don't know what he does (big issue with Ranpo partly what he was crying about too i think. They have an entire episode (i think it's the first one in the 4th season) devoted to their backstory together which is black, white, and gray when it's from Ranpo's perspective until Fukuzawa helps him realize this and it turns colored. Fukuzawa ends up deciding he wants to create a detective agency (working with others!) with Ranpo not yet tho we still have one more kid first. Later when Fukuzawa's doing a bodyguard job he along with Ranpo end up rescuing a girl (Yosano!) from the man he was guarding (future mafia boss currently a doctor). Yosano ends up becoming a doctor for the detective agency when it's created. After it's created he ends up taking in another 14 year old (Kenji).
He also loves cats and has shoujo anime-esque cherry blossom flashbacks with his old childhood friend who asked him if he wanted to go to fight in war with him, Fukuzawa denied his request. They also have a like 15 min soft-lighting conversation while watching their memories of their childhood together in the latest ep.”
2. “This man literally created a whole detective agency for this one really smart boy (Ranpo) and taught him that he wasn't the one in the wrong but everyone else when he couldn't understand people. Then, he saves Yosano from the trauma this other guy was inflicting on her and brings her to the Agency. The Agency basically becomes the place where all his kids are. His special ability lets those in the Agency control their abilities so Atsushi and Kyouka don't have to be afraid of their out of control abilities anymore. He cares so much for all of them and during the Cannibalism arc when his life is literally on the line, they do everything in their power to save him.”
3. “My guy just CANNOT stop adopting kids. He went from lone wolf assassin to Dad of Many. His first (adopted) child, Ranpo, basically forced him to adopt him (he was like “I’m a teenager with no family or home. You GOTTA adopt me. Because I say so.”) From there he kept accidentally adopting every orphan he came across. Honestly the detective agency is more like a glorified orphanage except they let their kids carry guns.”
4. “A former Goverment assassin who stopped once he realized he was starting to enjoy killing people, Fukuzawa is looking for a job when he bumps into Ranpo, a genius capable of figuring out any mystery, who can’t understand how the world works. Taking Ranpo under his wing Fukuzawa tries a white lie that Ranpo has a special ability and manages to let Ranpo interact with the world without fear for the first time in years since he can know understand the problem wasn’t everyone acting like they couldn’t figure out things but that no one was as smart as him. They found the Armed Detective Agency specifically to use Ranpo’s abilities to help people and to have jobs.
He then saves Yosano from Mori, his ex something who after using her special ability to heal any injury as long as the person is about to die during the War, wanted to use it take control of their local mafia. Instead Fukuzawa and Ranpo rescue her and let her recover from her trauma and come into herself.
He then goes on to provide a place for Kunikida to fulfill his ideals, Dazai a place to do good after his own past in the mafia, Kenji a place to help people, Tanizaki and Naomi (siblings that don’t seem to have any guardians) work to support them, and Atsushi a place to work on his own trauma by protecting people. Fukuzawa later let’s Kyouka, another defection from the mafia, stay and work at the agency so she can help people and not have to kill them anymore. The entire Armed Detective Agency live in dorms that Fukuzawa provided. He also is very protective, putting everything on the line to help members of the Agency escape any danger he knows of. Like when Atsushi is kidnapped he bribes Ranpo to find him and sends Kunikida to rescue him. He sees any danger to the agency and its members as something for him to stop.”

Alastor's deal
okay so I had my initial thoughts about Alastor's deal way back with episode 5 but I didn't say much because I wanted to wait it out for the series finally and boy am I glad I did.
so here are my thoughts both past and present on Alastor's deal since we now have a shit ton of information
initially like most of the fandom I thought that Alastor had something to do with Lilith especially given husk's comment and the 7 year gap however I didn't quite think he made a deal for his soul. Given the fact it seemed like he had strength already and is a smart character I just figured maybe he didn't actually deal his soul away but was working for Lilith somewhat freely, I say somewhat because that woman is powerful
however, we now have episodes 7 and 8
first I want to nose dive into Alastor's deal with Charlie
Since the pilot Alastor has wanted a deal with Charlie and it's been very clear that he has had alternative reasons for being at the hotel. While I do think he has grown "fond" of the hotel and its participants it evident that isn't why he is there. Now that we actually have the contents of his deal with Charlie I think it really shows he is there for his own gain of freedom. While owning Charlies soul would be quite a feat I think Alastor knew that would be to much to ask for but he's also smart enough to get what he needs, which is a favor
A favor for what, that we don't quite know yet but a favor, that frankly has no limitations, with the princess of hell is one fuckin score. it also seem that he is locked within the bounds of another deal and what's interesting is his look during the making of his and Charlies deal
Tumblr media
the main thought floating around is that this is his true self and what his deal has done to him. I've seen two theories popping around that either the string on his mouth is either meant to keep him quiet or is meant to keep him smiling. Honestly I think it's both. Given his lack of comment on his own deal and his cleverness with speaking it would make sense for whoever made the deal to try to keep him quiet. Also given how Alastor speaks about smiling I wouldn't be shocked if even before his deal smiling bastard with the same beliefs on smiling. The little shit has a tendency to piss people off so I also wouldn't be shocked if someone didn't purposefully make it so he couldn't stop smiling as a way to fuck with him.
anyway whatever deal he is locked in is seems quite restraining and strong. strong enough to make him fight for the hotel in order to get that favor from Charlie. While I love the idea of found family I don't think it was his fondness of his friends who made him fight
lets analyze his portion of the song shall we
Tumblr media
the portion of the finally song "'Great Alastor Altruist died for his friends'" was put into quotes and followed by "sorry to disappoint but thats not where this ends" which wasn't in quotes. I think this part of the song is suggesting others may think Alastor died protecting his friends but is having Alastor correct that notion and reveal that isn't the case. or at least not fully (for those who like the fond familyness of the hotel I do think he cares for the others but ultimately its his freedom he cares more about)
the nexts lines are "I'm hungry for freedom like never before" obviously the first part is fairly straight forward as it means Alastor wants out of whatever deal he has made. But this part has me split on whether it's involved with the 7 years missing and how. On one hand I think this ties into those 7 years as he badly wants people to question what happened then, as seen in ep.3 with the over lords. I think this is his way of trying to get help or at least someone to understand. But given how he reacted to husk making a comment about his deal if it happened during the 7 years I doubt he would want people snooping as it seems he doesn't want to acknowledge his own leash.
the next part of the song is "the constraints of my deal surely have a back door". Whatever this deal he made he wants out of it so badly he's lookin for whatever loop hole he can. Frankly this line along with the final lines, "Once I figure out how to unclip my wings, Guess who will be pulling all the strings" makes be question what he got in return for whatever he gave.
Whatever he gave it is something thats got him controlled enough to feel like he has clipped wings. Sure it could be his soul, and just given the series so far it seems like the most plausible answer, but he doesn't quite have the same restraints others who signed their soul away do. While clearly trapped he is still practically doing as he pleases, as far as we know, so I dont quite have a clue as to what he could've given. My only other half thought is that he maybe gave up parts of his power but that still doesn't quite work.
But what really has me is what did he get in return. that final line suggest that once he's out of his deal he will be this all powerful being able to control the game. His arrival to hell also supports him by himself having mass power. So clearly he doesn't seem to be lacking in the power category as it seems like his overall goals are for total control. And if he didn't have power to start with then he wouldn't be tryin to get out of a deal that gives him power. Maybe someone healed him, but given my thoughts above who could've possibly wounded him that much. Sure Adam damn near killed him but adam's on a different power scale as he went toe to toe with lucifer for a bit, plus Alastor recovers from that. And sure Vox claims to have beat Alastor but both Alastor and Valentino counter claim this and tbh I just doubt Vox could destroy Alastor so well.
the last line clearly shows Alastor wants to be in control of everything so his deal just baffles me as it doesn't seem to be helping him at all
Tumblr media
also with the current Lilith in heaven thing this might just be but I'm to sure its her he made his deal with anymore
this is quite the interesting little mystery that I am so excited to get to see more of when the next season comes out.

Could you explain why you are ok with ep 5? I hated seeing, yet again, the battered body of a black character beaten to a pulp by his white partner, especially since such violence never happened between Louis and Lestat in the books. While I know white people can't understand and probably couldn't care less, I'm genuinely curious about your take on this.
Hi Anon!
Okay, first I'm sorry this reply back took the long time it did for me to answer it but, aside from wanting to think on it, RL things got in the way too. And then I also got caught up with some other writing I'm doing. And, as I said, I wanted to think this out before I wrote on it.
Now, first of all, it's actually not true wrt the books that Lestat and Louis never fought before. Someone other than myself has taken screenshots of passages in the book ITWV where such fights have happened. So I do not believe that it was out of character at all for them to have even had a fight in such a way, as such things did happen in the books. (And honestly, I didn't think it was OOC for Lestat at the time it happened before people started posting screenshots of the passages in the book that showed them fighting).
What has upset people is how visceral and beaten Louis looked by the end of that fight. (And no one is wrong for feeling that way if they do/did). It is disturbing to see a black man beaten in such a way by his white partner. And I actually don't think the writers were completely unaware of that imagery when they did this either. Not when you take into account the other pointed underlying racial dynamics the show did and highlighted throughout the season, before and after that episode. (From basically all of EP3, to Claudia mocking Louis telepathically with the "massa" talk in EP6.) So no, I do not think they were at all ignorant of the loaded racial imagery in EP5 after that fight.
And whether some views can forgive Lestat for it will be an individual thing, at the end of it all IMO. Some views may never forgive it, and I think that is completely okay. However, for me - and why I not only wasn't that shocked by the fight itself but feel I understand what is going on with it is - is 1.) as said, they did have knock-down fights in the first book, 2.) knowing Lestat does have that level of violence-ability in him as I noted when the episode first aired and 3.) and this is the main point - that there, strategically, some clear missing context going on here wrt that fight.
Because the entirety of that fight never once was told from Louis' POV. Until that moment when Lestat took Louis out into the courtyard and then up into the air, the actual fight itself was all told from Claudia's POV.
And that was clearly a deliberate choice. Not just to highlight what it must have been like for Claudia to witness this but because there is clearly something about that fight that Louis is holding back about. And no, not because he's lying about the fight having happened at all, and him being beaten in such a way. The fight did happen, and Louis did get beaten in the way we saw at the end. Because, again, what we saw of the actual fight was all from Claudia's POV, and Claudia would have no reason to lie about such a thing in her diary, where the account of the fight was clearly taken from.
No, it's because I strongly feel that something was going on during it that I don't think Louis can - even now - really process. And I have a huge suspicion about what it is.
We're now headed into book spoiler territory and I don't know how much you might want those, so I'm going to stop with that here. All I will say is that the pauses in the fight when we heard Lestat's voice talking are very, very important, particularly when it comes to what he's saying.
Part of this, and that fight, has to do with the very nature of what Lestat and Louis, and Claudia all are as vampires. Again, I'm really trying not to spoil anything here, because I suspect the show might reveal some of this in Season 2, particularly wrt Paris and the Theater Coven.
Though I don't think the majority of it will be talked about until Season 3 when we finally get Lestat's POV. And it might even be something that carries on over into multiple seasons.
I understand the POV of people who will never be okay with the fight and the imagery it left wrt Louis. But I really do feel the writers didn't do it without one, knowing how it would look, and two, that there is a larger, overall, story arc point going on here which ties into the fact that we are not dealing with human beings here.
This isn't a story about vampires seeking redemption or a way back to humanity. With Rice's vampires, the longer they live, the more apart from humanity they become. That is, overall, one of the things the VC explores here. And they are all going to continue to do some really inhuman things, at least during these earlier parts of the story, towards people they love.
Over time, even as many of them, especially Lestat, learn better how to deal with that nature, particularly towards those they care about and love, those inhuman things about their nature will still be there.
So I think also having that view, understanding that about these characters, as well as everything else I talked about, (including something I strongly feel they are setting up as to why Lestat acted the way he did), goes into my few of that fight and why, when it happened, I honestly wasn't either surprised by it and am okay and want to see where they go from here with it. This is just all, personally, where I'm coming from it with it of course.

Mini-Drew-Analysis for His Birthday!!
Since yesterday was my lovely Drewy-bear's birthday, I decided to write a bullshit little blurb talking about how I interpret his character, and how much (I think) people misinterpret his aggression during the drakeup.
I won't include anything about the music club, since it has been a while since I rewatched the series as a whole and memories of them interacting with Drew are kinda rusty and that deserves its own essay.
Like the Milly/Ep.3 post, I *might* briefly mention a lot of my own trauma or experiences and compare them to Drew's behaviours, so apologies in advance if that bothers you.
Now, firstly, I would like to establish his major relationships in the show since most of his characterization comes from said relationships.
ZOEY:
Droey is arguably Drew's second-most-important relationship, despite the lack of screentime (which I am really salty about).
Now, whilst I love the aroace and gay Drew headacanons, I think we can all agree that he did love Zoey to some extent. The photo in Zoey's room and the fact that he is willing to fulfil her ever wish are proof enough in my eyes.
Drew's love-language is gift-giving (same, Drew, same). It was been confirmed that his parents get him everything they want since HIS FIRST APPEARANCE.
"Well, they bought it for me last night!"
I'm mostly theorising here, but going off of this alone: Drew's parents have been (and still are) very absent in his life.
They couldn't give him enough attention nor affection when he was a kid so they just opted to shove lavish gifts and money in his face to show him their [persumed] love for him.
So, Drew grew up with the virtue that love is mainly expressed through money and expensive gifts ingrained into his head since he was a young child.
He only buys gifts for people he deeply loves and cares about, it's not just a way of flexing or getting people to like him (more on that in the Jake part).
Drew loved Zoey, from the bottom of his heart, so he bought her everything she asked for and took her on dates to the mall regularly to show her how deep his affection for her is.
That's why he was so concerned and "suspicious" when she stopped asking for so many gifts.
He wasn't worried that she was "cheating", he was worried that she didn't loved him anymore, that she was going to leave him.
Moreover, Drew is a very distrustful person by nature, and those he trusts, he trusts deeply.
Those are the only people he allows himself to be emotional around or express his interests and hobbies to, but even then he still has an invisible wall surrounding him.
He lets them be close enough to understand him on a surface level, but not close enough to see his true colours and vulnerabilities (same, Drew, same ×2. Also, Milly parallel!!).
Zoey was naturally one of those few people he trusted, and she broke that trust.
That's why he was so hurt after Zoey left him. He trusted her, he was willing to go to the ends of the earth for her, he loved her.
But she cheated on him. She took advantage of him. She broke his trust.
And even without all of the above, anybody would get scarred and hurt by their partner cheating on them, manipulating them, and using them for money (trust me, I am speaking from personal experience here).
Well, Zoey betrayed him...at least his other friends are still-
HENRIAM:
WRONG. THEY HURT HIM TOO.
Let me elaborate.
We don't get enough screentime to see Drenriam interact so I can't write about them separately (FUXK YOU JAKE AND THE NUSIC FREKA DFOR HOGFINF ALL THE SCREENTOME).
But, we know Drew cares about them. And they know it too.
"Come on, you know you love us" (Henry, Ep5)
And Drew doesn't respond. He just blushes, rolls his eyes and stays silent, which I think is confirmation enough.
"buT hE iS mEAn tO tHeM!1!1" I hear a Drew-anti cry from afar while clutching their limited-edition Jailey keychains.
My guy, my gal, my enby pal, do you even HAVE friends?!?
You're only nice for the first month or so and THAT'S IT, you've gone past the expiry date of nice and become mean and brutally insult each other lightheartedly and call each other "Freak" affectionately. Sometimes it takes even less than that.
Again, they were two of the only few people he trusted.
And they also broke that trust by hiding Zoey's cheating from him. They even think about her gold-digging as JOKE (flashback to ep2 opening scene).
"They were blackmailed!!"
I don't even think I have the patience to elaborate on why that is a stupid fucking excuse. Zoey had no dirt on Jake, no?
They could have told him to tell Drew, or they could have just told him but tell him not to tell Zoey they were the ones who told on her or whatever.
I think the only reason Drew stuck with them during the finale was because he was truly alone. He had nobody else, so he stuck with the last shred of his life before Jake left, even if he hated them now (still can't wait for the Drake-up 2.0, where Drew breaks off his friendship with Henriam and falls into deep, deep depression<44).
(WAIT FUCK THEN DRIAM WONT BE CANON SH-)
Lia(and why Dria /p will never happen imo):
Yeah no it won't happen. Lia distanced herself from Zoey, and she will definitely start hanging out with Jake and the others and completely ditch the Dromies.
Yknow just completely cut off Drew from any form of emotional support system let him SUFFER
JAKE:
Oh the dreaded part-
Here we go ig.
Jake sucks. He was a horrible friend. That is the thesis, that is the topic sentence, that is what I will start with.
Let me just document every major shitty thing Jake did that I can remember atm.
1. He blackmailed Zoey and hid the fact that she was cheating on Drew from him, which breaks his trust (I elaborated on this more in my ep.3 analysis!!)
2. He lied to Drew about being grounded to ditch him for club practice, I am not even gonna try to explain why that is super shitty anybody with 2 braincells and 2 milligrams of basic human decency (which Jake apparently lacks) should be able to realize this on their own. Especially since Drew clearly has trust and attachment issues (his clearly possessive nature of Jake, being that he is one of the closest people to home). Actually, he also lied to him at the end of ep1 wtmf
3. Trying to give his laptop away to Sean. It isn't even about how rude it is to give away an expensive gift, it is about how oblivious Jake is to Drew's feelings. He doesn't even CARE about what Drew feels at all.
Drew feels like Jake is his closest friend, like he's the only person who truly understands him, when this shows that it is quite the opposite in fact.
Jake doesn't understand that it is more than just an expensive gift given by a spoiled kid with too much money to spend. It is a symbol of how much Drew loves him (platonically or otherwise). All of the gifts he buys for him are.
Drew is emotionally-constipated. We (sadly) don't get to see how they met exactly (only one picture to elude to it). But, I think I have an idea.
Drew sees Jake, a loner who's bullied by everyone and sitting all alone. He feels bad and wants to talk to him. He doesn't know how to approach him, so he tries the only way he knows.
All of his other friends and classmates would always seem impressed and fawn over him whenever his parents would buy him something new, so maybe it would work this time?
So he approaches Jake, and offers to let him play with his new switch, because that is the only possible way (in his head) to talk to him.
It is not like Jake doesn't value Drew, but this shows how little he actually knows; that him trying to fit in has caused him to completely misunderstand Drew. Idk man I don't really like Jake so I don't like analysing him please any jake kinnie try to explain.
Now, Jake has been spending a lot of time with the music club, and that has been triggering Drew's attachment issues. What was so great about those freaks anyway??
That whole scene in ep.9 was just his attachment and validation issues on full display, an essay on jagged--dust-jacket-analysis explains way better than I ever could, so check it out!!
When Jake yells at him and leaves in ep.10 and implies that there is something Zoey is hiding it...it breaks him, for all the reasons I stated before.
After Henriam explain everything, it just confuses and hurts him more.
But why would Jake hide this from him? Wasn't he his best friend? Why is he apologising to those freaks, but not him?!
It must be that Hailey girl, she is the one fucking with his head.
He'll confront her. He'll expose her for the fraud she is, and then Jake wi-
(Look please bear with me on this part ik the drake up is a meme now but please let us try to treat it seriously for once)
"Back off, Drew"
Jake chose the freaks. Jake is defending them.
"The club is what I care about- MY FRIENDS!"
His friends?? What was he??
This...this was all for Daisy wasn't it?
What passion was he talking about?!
He never told them anything!!
Why would he hide Zoey's cheating from him!?
Wasn't he his best friend?!
Was he lying to them this whole time..?
"You're right. Drew, Henry, Liam, I'm sorry,"
He is sorry. Drew didn't bother listening to the rest. It was basically confirming what he'd already concluded.
Jake lied to him.
They all did.
"I'm sorry"
Those words were meaningless.
Sorry, sorry, sorry, that's what they all said!
Accepting this apology would make him seem weak.
Allowing Jake to abandon him would make him weak.
Breaking down crying would make him weak.
Apologising, when he'd done absolutely nothing wrong in his own eyes, would make him weak.
And if there is one thing Drew hated more than anything else, it is appearing weak.
Appearing vulnerable, letting people take advantage of him like all of his friends and his girlfriend did.
"I'm done with you,"
Drew walked away without making eye contact with anybody. He didn't even look to see if Henry and Liam were following him, and he frankly didn't care.
They were all assholes anyways.
They all used him.
Nobody mattered to him anymore. He was fine before meeting them, he'd definitely be fine without them, right?
Drew was leaving them all behind, he'd cut them out.
He would be better off without them.
Conclusion/Closing Thoughts:
I must admit, this did turn fanfic-y midway and it is not the most well-put together, I was really rushing to finish this.
A lot of what I am describing here is my subjective opinion and what I percieve ad Drew's P.O.V, not the objective facts.
Another confession I must make is that most of what is here is just me projecting a few months of therapy sessions onto Drew. My therapist dissected a lot of internal issues with me naturally, and they served to help me understand myself better and realize how much of my own issues applied on Drew aswell.
As I progress with my therapy and learn more about my own baggage, I might be able to remove the biased lens that I am seeing Drew through and might write a more well-constructed and objective analysis of him in the near future.
For now, however, this is all I have. Hope you liked it!! Happy late-birthday to Drewy Bear, and have a great day/night everybody!!!

I've been analyzing a few scenes to satisfy my tsume/kiba thirst for content lately and hear me out;
-SPOILERS FOR WOLF'S RAIN'S ENDING-
Kiba obviously cares for every member of the pack, but here's something I think may prove he at least favors Tsume. During everyone's last quarrel with Darcia, they sacrifice themselves to push Kiba on to open paradise, which leads to their death.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hige suffers a fatal wound inflicted by Darcia and Kiba stops, clearly concerned for him, but after a reassuring smile from him, Kiba nods to him and moves forward.
Tumblr media
Now, after Tsume joins the fight and covers him Hige-less, Kiba asks, once again concerned about what happened to him, but gets no response.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Tsume gets wounded and Darcia skips past, Kiba stops, just like he did for Hige, but he sounds more alarmed and asks directly "(Tsume!) Are you alright?!" which he didn't do for Hige.
Tumblr media
They talk for a while, which is really heartfelt in itself, but Tsume is obviously on his deathbed and pleads for him to go away and stop Darcia not once, not twice, but three times.
Tumblr media
Because Kiba insisted just as many times, encouraging him with "Hang in there!" and even tried to grab him, to help him up at the least or carrying him at the most. Just like Tsume did for him when he couldn't run with the pack in ep 5. I think its significant that he was so desperate to have Tsume by his side again, that he didn't want to leave him despite Tsume very clearly and aggressively telling him to go away.
And after Tsume's last howl he clearly shows so many emotions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, I'll do more of those, they're fun!

Giving Doctor Who a New Chance, Part 1: The Star Beast
I like how in the opener the Doctor ends up running into Donna due to plain old Chronic Hero syndrome, rushing towards someone who looks like they needed help
I appreciate that we got a realtime example of Donna just missing a spaceship
her concern with stacking properly is a good establishing moment for viewers who maybe don't know her yet
It's interesting how Donna ended up giving away the money - not doing what he thought she would do
Making Donna's kid trans was a great move now that the UK is known as a rather trans-hostile place
sylvia is interesting - she seems like someone who feels guilty but is sort of going overboard with overcompensating for it rather than truly helping
badass protective - which is probably how Donna would be as a mom, some of the character development stuck despite the memory wipe, small-minded
Another Unit Scientific Advisor!
You can tell the Doctor is having a tough time with how he spills his problems to the Unit lady. Though you can also see 14 isn't quite like 10, not quite as emotionally constipated. 12 had this whole arc about spitting out the words though then chibnall didn't do anything with cause he couldn't write characters to save his life. I guess 13 was supposed to look like his (franky offensive, carricaturish) idea of a private person? At least this keeps the tendency of each incarnation being a contrast to their predecessor. Insofar as 13 had enough personality to be contrasted. Chibnalls characters are all emotionless planks of wood - and I'll better stop ranting now
i like the unit lady
It's a charming detail how Rose sells things on etsy. I betcha anything she has a tumblr
// war flashback to Ryan's increbliy generic youtube channel that was never used to characterize him in any way & then forgotten about //, & the detail is added in a kind of loving, relatable way whereas Chibnall kinda mocked the guy for listening to affirmations, for example
Ah it's so nice to have actual CHARACTERIZATION again
Like this just told us that Rose Noble is creative, but also feels responsibility to help her parents.
And her making little plush aliens is immediately lied to her feeling lonely & alienated because of how she's bullied
CONSISTENCY beyond just what is currently needed for the plot yes please. This should be the bare minimum but Chibnall went 8 episodes without giving Yasmin ANY defining traits or moments
So nice to have CHARACTERS with EMOTIONs and TRAITS
I just KNEW the Doctor was getting another Mom slap the moment the moment he showed up
the definite article XD I got that reference, esp in what looks like an Unit episode
oh noes theyre shooting up Donnas house
i love how he just naturally hands the sonic to Donna without thinking
It's extremly Donna-like to worry about her house during the alien attack
I like the resonating the wall trick coming on again - if you saw this straight after EoT, you'd still get the sense that the Doctor got more experienced.
Donna's neighbor missing everything cause he's listening to music is a mood
I love the impromptu judge wig XD
Been a while since I heard "shadow proclamtion". That was common the first time RTD was running the show
I LOVE how the twist & how the Doctor deduced it from the Unit soldier not being dead. The idea that you can know someone by their method
Also love the doctor trying to outfox the Meep but getting a tad too confident there
Also like how Donna absolutely picks up that Sylvia knows the Doctor & demands the truth, but also having a moment of vulnerability
the story's a bit over the top & cliche, though. I mean I can partially forgive it because the ep is really much more about Donna, but not a fan of the over the top cliched villain. though, this RTD is the guy who made the fart episode. he was good at concepts a lot of the time, but yeah...
The wheelchair stun darts are cliche, too, but I DO like the general twist of the unit lady realizing the guards have been mind-controlled & saving the team. She seemed competent earlier. Makes me miss Osgood a bit. One hopes wheelchair lady will keep showing up in UNIT episodes.
I love Donna taking the initiative here to run off. (characters NOT being planks of wood & making self-motivated decisions! Oh im so glad we're rid of Chibnal's trash writing)
Do like the moment. Donna still having her unimportance complex, the Doctor's response that she isn't not just because he doesn't think anyone's unimportant but because she is so important to him, "why does it have to be you" Yeah David Tennant is still good at pulling ppl's heartstrings, his resigned tone when he begins reciting the 'password'
The password being similar to that time Amy had to unlock it!
Donna's first concern upon "waking up" being that she gave away the money is soo her.
Catherine Tate really shines here how she instantly retrieves the... the fast talking thing from Journey's end??
She gets so excited at getting to blow up the alien tech XD
Again praise be to Catherine cause you can tell how the hole of self-doubt that was there (though not as much pre series 4) is just FILLED with confidence.
He just doesn't give a fuck if they shoot him when he thought Donna was dead
The thing where it's less lethal now because some of the energy passed down to her kid is neat, but I don't like the idea that the personality traits of Donna's kid are attributed to the metacrisis thing. Although I suppose it could be seen as more of a nudge or inspiration
I really like the touch that the Doctor remembered the names of the alien soldiers & spoke of them to their superiors, and that he neutralized the meep non-lethally. He's an actual pacifist again with lika a worldview, not just regurgitating lines about "not liking guns" out of context
I HATE the women's intuition thing. I get that they were trying to like affirm Rose's gender as real here but I hate it. It's essentialist and I hate it. I'm gonna treat it as just a joke Donna & Rose did cause they would.
Though I DO like, & find it very appropriate that Donna & Rose themselves are the ones to think up the solution & having it sort of come from Donna's grounded, down to earthsy nature. As a counterpoint to how the Doctor kind of over-ruled Donna's will to sort of unilaterally save her against her will & taking the burden onto himself. (Not that one can blame him too much for what he did while panicking, trying to save his besties' life. )
I love the Doctor fanboying over the new "desktop theme" & praising the TARDIS for the design choices
Such a nice touch that both the Doctor & the TARDIS remember Donna's coffee preferences. It's all about the little things.
David still got it with the "it killed me" line
I do notice that his delivery, while similar, in some aspects, is still markedly different. 14 is more emotionally honest than 10, but also less hyper, he carries himself a bit 'heavier'.
Like I feel some of that subtle distinction in nuance comes down to that when the Dr. turned into 10 it was "for" Rose (so the charme & energy etc were dialed to max), but 14 is "for" Donna, in a way, though he didn't know it at the start.
AAAAnd Donna immediately returns to being a supplier of grounding common-sense advice. Cause she is right about the big goodbye thing
that's a lot of pyrotechnics for just one coffee. Donna must've spilled it into the worst possible spot. That would be the sort of luck they'd have.
Soo. it was an episode without Chibnal's terrible, flavorless writing. I liked some of the story beats though not over the top wowed but I feel like this is the first act of a longer play & the emotional penny is probably still to drop.

LITA Ep 1 rewatch thoughts
Taking it from the top! Why is Phayu literally the nicest person ever? Like he just saw someone's car stalling near the road in the rain and he just stopped to help? I love that this is their official intro to each other bc it gives us viewers a clear impression of their dynamic from the very beginning. The music selection in this scene is so funny though bc it's intense and dangerous and Phayu is literally just telling Rain to turn his hazard lights on lmao.
I also love that every time Phayu helps Rain, he does so with encouragement for Rain to be more self-sufficient. The tire-changing is example one.
"You're so handsome" RAIN pls control yourself... I mean we all agree and Phayu's already looking interested but danggg
Ah Sky, the long-suffering (affectionate) BFF. Did we ever find out when they met? Was it just in college or before, bc it looks like Sky's Rain-related-nonsense-tolerance meter is constantly maxed out and that usually comes from long-term friendships.
I LOVE HIM there is not a single thought behind these eyes
Tumblr media
Yassss department god Phayu for the win!! Love how this montage makes Phayu seem like a highly elegant and smart guy (which he is) but then we just watch him be a dork over Rain the rest of the series.
Fast forward a bit to the restaurant scene bc I forgot to keep typing...
Ok yeah sure you don't remember Rain, Phayu. Please, you made a beeline directly to him as soon as you walked in. Also, this scene makes my heart beat faster even though they do a lot more later on (where are those eyes looking, eh Phayu?).
Tumblr media
The next scene where Phayu wipes Rain's hair gives me mixed feelings bc on the one hand, I don't like how Rain literally had to hit Phayu with a pillow before he'd let go, but on the other I didn't actually get a sense of danger from Phayu. I also did like that Phayu threw out "actually I'm bisexual" so casually - love that for us. I also think it's hilarious how fast Rain falls into the "I'm so into Phayu" headspace. I've heard some people call it subspace and from what I know I'm inclined to agree but I don't know enough to comment on that further. Also here begins the saga of Rain having a death-grip on Phayu's neck during intimate moments. We stan <3
Tumblr media
Somehow I didn't notice the thermostat being set so low during every rewatch of this episode until now - I was always confused as to why Rain had to go under the covers but I get it.
When they wake up and Rain calls Phayu a bunch of names I couldn't stop laughing - it's even funnier when you know what's coming in the next few eps. Also my son really went "no thoughts head empty" after a single cheek kiss from Phayu. What a cutie
Tumblr media
Rain cursing at the storm is so cute!!! Also we love our logical bestie Sky as always.
I LOVE P'Aon!! Also he's the first person to call Rain Phayu's boy and for some reason I think that's v v cute
I accidentally paused and can't stop laughing at Phayu's face here PLSSSS
Tumblr media
And we've made it to the ending scene!! Ahhhh this makes me SO SOFT! I love it when characters tuck their face into their partner's neck when they're sleeping - there's something about the trust and comfort needed to do that which makes me so happy to see it play out. And Phayu's little "I'm really starting to like you, Rain" with the SOFTEST little smile on his face URGH I'M EXPERIENCING EMOTIONS
Tumblr media
This is one of my favorite opening episodes of a series! We got introduced to all the main players as well as the key side-characters, and we got a good understanding of who Rain and Phayu are as individuals (less so on Phayu's side for now) and their dynamic together. I was so hyped to finish the rest of the series as soon as I finished this episode the first time
