About Oktavia von Seckendorff

There's a lot to say about Oktavia (personally I'd say it's the easiest to find interesting stuff about her out of all the witches) but here's some stuff I've been thinking about.

(I'm aware that most of this has probably already been pointed out by someone at some point, I just want to ramble)

Her name

Oktavia is more obvious. Oktavia -> Octavia (latin, "the eighth"). In music an octave is an interval of eight whole tones (it's the same note in a different pitch, I don't know if people who don't care about music know this stuff).

Sayaka and Oktavia are both music themed I don't have to explain the connection, but I also find it interesting to note that Oktavia's first appearance is in the eight episode of the anime.

The interesting part is von Seckendorff, I know. Karl Siegmund von Seckendorff (26 November 1744 - 26 April 1785) was a German poet and composer (and military officer, which doesn't seem relevant right now but considering the knight elements in Oktavia's design that might have played into it?).

I'll be completely honest, he has very few creations and I cannot get access to any of them (he really was not relevant enough, I suppose) but Wikipedia lists one of his works as Das Rad des Schicksals, oder die Geschichte des Thoangesis, which directly translates to the wheel of fate, or the story of the Thoangesis(??). I do not know what is in that text, I can't even get an e-book of it. However, the title alone reminds me of the many wheels in Oktavia's labyrinth and other depictions of her.

This is going to sound like I'm reaching but the name von Seckendorff can also be connected to Kriemhild Gretchen (Madoka's witch). Karl Siegmund von Seckendorff found inspiration in Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, translated one of his novels and composed music for some of his poems. Goethe's Faust seems to inspire aspects of Kriemhild Gretchen, and considering the inherent connection between Sayaka and Madoka I feel like this is worth mentioning. (I might elaborate on this separately but the basic connection between Madoka and Goethe's Faust is: girl named Magarete loses her innocence/purity and becomes trapped and destroyed — from that point on is referred to as Gretchen. Being a witch is loosing your innocence freedom etc, being a witch turns Madoka into ((Kriemhild)) Gretchen.)

Von Seckendorff was never really successful when pursuing the arts, by the way. (I mean, people barely know him.) There's something to be said about Sayaka's whole story, about her being destined to always turn into a witch and never "succeed".

Her design

Most people are somewhat aware of the whole little mermaid thing, but I'll mention it again just in case. Sayaka's story greatly resembles that of the little mermaid (not Disney), which could explain Oktavia being referred to as the mermaid witch (and literally being a mermaid, she has a tail) as well as the general water/ocean theme both her and Sayaka have. You can read it yourself if you're interested, but long story short the little mermaid wants a human soul and a prince's love and exchanges her tongue (yeah) for legs with a sea witch so she can be on the surface, though she can't speak. (So still similar to the Disney version) The Prince does not fall for her, she dies of a broken heart and jumps into the sea, dissolving into sea foam.

The mermaid makes a great sacrifice for her wish and the love she desires and ends up not gaining anything from it, instead loosing her life as her soul withers away in the sea. Very Sayaka.

Okay this one seems weird but I thought of it when rewatching the series again.

In the first episode Junko (Madoka's mother) notes that pink ribbons will attract affection/attraction from men. Sayaka only became a magical girl in the first place because she desired Kyōsuke's love (and Octavia is destined to appear in every timeline that Sayaka makes a pact with Kyubey in, so you could argue that the desire for love is a direct reason for Octavia's existence.) (Oktavia is stated to be all about love/falling in love so I guess that's canon.)

I think the ribbon could just be there because of the school uniform, but I don't think that's the case (or at least not the only case. Design choices can have several inspirations) When witches take inspiration from their respective magical girl's designs it's usually about the actual magical girl clothes and not casual/school clothes. So yeah, I like to think it's meant to represent Oktavia's desire to love and be loved.

There's probably a lot more to say about her but these are some of my thoughts :3

pointless rambling below the cut...

I accidentally deleted my post from yesterday where I mentioned wanting to retcon timelines to remove child characters because it almost never fails that when I make my OCs have a child, I stop being interested in them. But anyway, maybe having to start over with a new post is good, because it gives me a chance to elaborate and to be in less of a mood about it. I'm still not happy with my writing lately, but that's not entirely connected to the child character issue. That's more of a me problem.

So, first off, let me just say that I'm not opposed to child characters in general, either in my work or in another writer's work. I have no problem "going back in time" and writing my established OCs as children, and I also see the utility of having a child character if their purpose is to advance the plot.

My problem is that when i give my established characters a child or children, it almost invariably feels awkward, burdensome or just plain forced and wrong, either from my perspective as the writer or from the perspective of the character(s) themselves.

That having been said, it's not normal or realistic for people (and characters in a realistic setting) to not have children. At least some characters must have them, because that's what many normal adults do, and it wouldn't be a credible setting if literally no one had kids. Enter the child characters, whether I want them or not.

It's not just the fact of the child characters being children that bothers me either, because even time-skipping to a point where they're teenagers doesn't fix it. Logically, they had to be babies and children at some point, and well-developed parent characters can't reasonably be expected to have no memories or feelings about that.

And it occurred to me that I can't actually retcon anyone's timeline and be comfortable with it. I mean... I could, but that would fundamentally change what I feel is canon (for better or worse) and would completely negate entire stories such as Au Ciel Étoilé and Caroline & Co.

So, I guess what i really get to do is explore the parent characters' feelings of regret, resentment, fear, frustration, loss of individual identity and loss of freedom in the cases where I probably should not have added child characters to the mix. It's not that these characters hate their kids - the majority of them love their kids - but that doesn't take away from the thought that their lives would be vastly different (and in some cases happier and better) without children.

Yuri, for example, should never have been a parent. He doesn't like children and doesn't like being a parent, and even though he's learned to live as a parent and be a good one, there'll always be an undercurrent of resentment there whether he's fully aware of it or not. He and Caroline love each other, but they don't necessarily like each other, and Caroline knows just as well as Yuri does that Victor is the glue holding the two of them together.

I actually feel bad for forcing Yuri into that corner. The experience has made him grow, but it also ruined the image of the future he wanted and pushed a wedge (tiny, but still...) between him and Victor that he's constantly trying to pretend does not exist.

Fox and Takahiro, my "super parents", completely lost their individual identities when they became parents. They absolutely love their kids and find immense joy in parenthood, and definitely should be parents, but for me as their author, they are no longer of much interest to me as characters themselves.

With Au Ciel Étoilé, I feel like almost every character, with the exception of Félix and Davian, are there for the sole purpose of having a child. Even though the premise of the story is weird and kind of science fiction-y, I think the real reason I lost interest in it was because it was basically "have kid, end of story".

I think Caroline is the character I regret the most, honestly. On her own, she's very interesting to me as a character, but I think she would've been equally interesting with different parents. I went back and forth on whether or not to even add her to the same universe as Yuri and Victor, to say nothing of how much I wavered on whether or not to make her their foster child. While I can't deny the bond between Caroline and Victor, I also can't reconcile the idea that it came at a cost to Yuri, who never wanted to be a parent.

It's perfectly in-character for Yuri to agree to foster Caroline even though he wasn't one hundred percent comfortable with it, though. That's kind of his M.O., doing stuff that Victor wants, even if he doesn't necessarily want it himself. It was a difficult adjustment for Yuri to have a kid around, and although he can't imagine his life without Caroline in it at this point, he often wonders what it would've been like if he'd said no in the first place. Of course, this isn't something he feels he could ever say out loud. Like a lot of things, he's just learned to accept and live with it.

Ironically enough, the child character I'm the least put off by is Belle Blanchet, even though she's not all that interesting. Maybe it's because Félix and Davian don't really think of themselves as "parents" in the traditional sense, and have always treated Belle almost like another adult. Belle isn't a psychological or literal burden to them and almost nothing has changed about their lifestyle. They're still the globe-trotting, thrill-seeking party animals they always were, and Belle is more or less along for the ride.

I don't know... There are probably a dozen story ideas in all of this, now that I see it all written out. Ugh...

Hey! Do you have any headcanons or ideas RE Mr & Mrs Buckley? (Or Mr & Mrs Harrington?)

I like to imagine that Robin’s parents have some suspicions that Robin *maybe* isn’t straight. Melissa *desperately* wants to say something, let Robin know that they love and accept her no matter what (when she finally does come Melissa’s like “You could become a cop or join the army and I’d still love you!”). Richard is very firm that they should leave it be and let Robin come to them if she’s ready.

This doesn’t stop Melissa from dropping hints, trying to prod Robin into opening up to her, but all Robin hears is “Mom is already scared I’m gonna die a spinster”.

This is part of the reason they’re wary of Steve when he starts hanging around. Like, he’s a nice enough boy - if they were sure that Robin liked boys, he’d be a lovely little son in law.

Oooh yes I love her parents I know the companion novels are only like. Half canon but greatest gift we got was Hippie Christmas. (I like to headcanon that Richard and Melissa have a bunch of friends who go by the names they choose in the 60s. Robin's got at least an aunt Periwinkle, and an uncle Salmon [goes by Sal for short!])

Mr. Buckley is the son of Italian immigrants and spoke it at home growing up, Mrs. Buckley was the daughter of French immigrants and did the same, which is how Robin first got her love of language speaking three different ones at home! Richard Buckley loves to cook and little chicklit Robin helped him with a special kitchen foot stool 🥺 and also he is very dad-shaped I think. Melissa probably is the one between the two to decide she's going to read war and peace in one sitting (original Russian optional) and make derisive noises at parts she doesn't like but won't elaborate on what happened. Also she is probably the one to play an instrument (maybe saxophone or bassoon?) There is at least one Buddha in the Buckley house.

I think her parents are supportive to the best of their abilities. Maybe they were in a really welcoming scene before Robin was born (also. Depending on when Robin was born [I've said she's a December 67 baby in a fic but I'm really not picky] she could be a summer of love baby and when she realised this she was horrified and refused to acknowledge it ever again lmao.) And so they pick up some...vibes when Robin was young and would moon over pretty teachers or princesses, give each other Significant Looks when she did.

Robin's line about her mom reminding her she rambles I think is just natural strain between parent and child, and possibly even her mom trying in an awkward and seemingly harsh way to protect her because Robin does have some clearly neurodivergent traits, which people can find off putting and she might be picked on for.

Love what you're putting down with Mrs. Buckley saying they'd always love her to show they'll stay by her if she comes out. But I think the delivery would be more. "Robin, we will always love you. Always..." Here she paused to think of something that isnt about being gay but would still convince Robin even if they thought it was bad they'd be there. "Even if you...decided you wanted to be a c-🤢 a cop. Or maybe even...🤢 Joined the🤮 military..." While Mr. Buckley is looking at his wife trying to charade to her that this is NOT a convincing speech!!

When they meet Steve and he and Robin are just hanging all over each other and bickering, and the Buckleys have to take a step back because did they get it wrong? They like Steve and he seems delighted to meet them and spend time with Robin and is so obviously fond of her... Of course people can like both but they were pretty sure Robin didn't...but her and Steve fit together so nicely.....except when Melissa brings up that it'd be perfectly alright for her to introduce Steve as her boyfriend Robin makes a gagging sound and screeches that he is her best friend and just because she sometimes want to crawl into his brain does not mean she ever wants to crawl into his pants.

Neither Melissa or Richard Buckley actually know what to do with that.

I have recently learned that I like pretty much every book I have to read in English class so have this short long rambling essay on The Great Gatsby.

The whole story makes me sad. It is full of missed opportunities and greed and rich people who have no concern for other people. It's about hope and dreams and a false sense of happiness. Gatsby throws these elaborate parties for one person who doesn't even know he's there. He invites important people to try and get the attention of one girl. When that girl finally sees him, everything begins to fall apart. There is a short period of happiness and hope and light. But that ends almost as quickly as it began. Daisy and Tom's marriage was never real. It was never full of equally returned love. Tom was always with someone else. Even if Daisy said she loved Tom, it wasn't always sincere. Things could've been so good. But the morals of all of these people messed things up. Nick being caught up in all of this made things even sadder. He just wanted to get away from the boring life he had and sell bonds. He didn't deserve any of this. He was stuck inbetween people's secrets and messy lives. It's no wonder he wanted to leave New York and all of them behind. They're all terrible. I mean Gatsby wasn't awful but his obliviousness to the situation and his endless hope and belief that Daisy would go with him after the fight made him a frustrating character. Especially to Nick. The way Gatsby made his money wasn't entirely lawful but I know for a fact he wasnt as bad as Tom. Nick tried to help Gatsby but in the end he gave up. Another point is that if Daisy had waited just a little longer, she could've had a happier life. Even if Gatsby made his money in an unlawful way, they probably would've been happier than she was with Tom. Her happiness was a mask to how she really felt. We only really get glimpses of this but when she talks to Nick about the birth of Pammy, Daisy's daughter, she wants her to be a fool. She wants her to be a fool so that she won't have to deal with the terrible-ness of the outside world. Daisy also was involved in 2 (two) murders! The obvious one being Myrtle. The irony of this is that she kills the woman her husband is having an affair while she's having an affair. The other possibly less obvious one is of course Gatsby. Since she hit Myrtle, she caused Wilson to go to Tom who told him it was Gatsby which then gives Wilson the ammo to shoot Gatsby in his pool. Tom could've told Wilson that it was Gatsby for two reasons. One, he actually thought it was Gatsby. Or, two, he said it was Gatsby to protect Daisy. I think it was the second one. After the fight, Tom knows that Gatsby has lost and he has won. He wants everything to go back to how things were. When he had control over his life. He probably figured out it was Daisy and threw Gatsby under that bus so that they could leave and start over again. Moving on from that mess, I want to talk about Jordan and how awful she is. She was not phased about anything that happened. After the fight and the accident she asked Nick if he wanted to come inside for dinner and hang out after they had literally just seen a dead body. It definitely helps to show that the only people effected by any of this are Nick, Gatsby, and Wilson. Two of which are dead. Gatsby spent the past five years of his life trying to get Daisy back for it only to end in his premature death. Also the fact that Nick was all Gatsby had makes this even more tragic. Even After all the parties and all the business associates, he is still alone and nobody cared about him. He dedicated his life to Daisy and all he got in return was a tiny sliver of happiness.

CONTROVERSIAL OPINION ALERT 🗣️‼️

Jk anyways hot takes have always been kind of a drama-trigger for tbhk fans generally (though most takes aren’t exactly “hot” they’re either lukewarm or just bad), but most prominently on tbhktwt, which I don’t actively participate in. But I’ve noticed that every time one of those “what’s your unpopular tbhk opinion?” Posts gets popular everyone starts fighting and it’s kindof annoying. Which for a few reasons: they just like to argue when no huge announcements are happening to make sure the fan base stays alive, or someone just has a really bad opinion (ex the toxic nene post).

Now that’s not the point and has nothing to do with what I’m about to say but I thought it’d be a fun intro.

(tldr at end and also more concise points w/o the tired rambling)

Quick side note. I’m being super serious, these are all just opinions I possess but they don’t necessarily exist in a vacuum. I mostly just want to complain about a trope I don’t like, but I’m not die-hard about any of this. So take everything I say with a grain of salt

Mitsuba, Sousuke, and what makes a character interesting

(Mitsukou cameo 2 because staying on topic is hard)

After a while, I started to develop a bit of a dislike of Mitsuba, the fake one specifically

To elaborate: During Sousuke’s introductory arc (and the only one he’s in) despite the trope-y nature of his character, his opening up during the chapters and his pre-canon connection to Kou is what, to me, made me like him more. I personally cannot stand the “cute-boy but actually he’s really mean” archetype, and it really turned me off from him in general. But I continued through it anyway. I thought the subversion of it was nice, not having him on edge and actually have a somewhat heart-to-heart was nice. And then he died whoopsie

I liked the hell of mirrors, like a lot actually. At the beginning I really liked Mitsuba, but as the series went on the traits I disliked started to shine more than the ones I liked. His stoic act around Nene at the very beginning of the hell of mirrors was the peak I strived for, but it basically never appeared again. The gruesome horror of Mitsuba lost my interest as he began to behave more human, I think. Now really all of this just comes down to personal preference. I like subversion, so I liked how Mitsuba was at the very beginning, but I never loved him. And I know that the direction his character took was always going to be the same but some part of me prayed for some kind of miracle.

He’s not human, but he wants to be, and I liked the idea a lot. But I was never able to get invested because almost every time he was in a chapter I wanted to bang my head into a wall. The the sensitivity and tact of Mitsuba isn’t lost, but I feel like a lot of it is lost when he’s around certain characters. His interactions with Nene (with a few exceptions) demonstrates how he could be if he decided to tone it down on occasion, still irritating but y’know, not as much. This falters with Kou in specific though, as he is constantly flip-flopping between defensive and annoying. If he could learn to let his guard down a little, it could really go a long way

Speaking of Kou

They are peers, they knew each other, and now only Kou remembers. Great, love it. Mitsukou, now that’s where it gets a little complicated.

As true equals, I do love them. And I know “the fandom ruined it for me” is a ballshit excuse but it genuinely does this time ‘round, and I can give a few pinpoints.

1. The constant feminization of Mitsuba

Every fandom is guilty of this at some point, and tbhk is no different. Forcible feminization of one (typically smaller or younger) male characters because they act even somewhat effeminate. And I have a right to be upset! It’s my 2nd amendment right or whatever!

2. And in tandem, the over-masculinization of Kou

His ass is fourteen!!! He ain’t buff!!! he probably still squeaks when he gets scared!! Enter that scene where Dipper is singing ABBA in the bathroom and Stan walks in except it’s Kou!!

3. General disregard of canonical characterization

Mitsuba can absolutely handle himself I’m going to kill someone

IMO mitsukou only really works if there’s an underlying understanding that 1. They’re both stupid kids. 2. They’re peers, and wether supernatural or not they are in alot of ways equals. And 3. They’re both deeply flawed.

To add onto that, Kou is indecisive about values. He wants to be an exorcist but has gotten attached to every somewhat sympathetic spirit he’s come in contact with, showing that he’s far too empathetic for the profession. He claims to understand Teru’s view on the undead yet he holds his personal judgment over his brothers consistently, for better or worse (yeah IK hanako is the title character so obviously he has to be good so why would he die but I’m just trying to think about it more literally, y’dig?). Mitsuba (the fake one) is not, and never will be, he isn’t meant to last forever. Sousuke (the dead one) Left everything unresolved, even when trying after death, nothing ever came to any conclusion, not even with his mom.

They work alone, but not yet together. But they can, it’s not too late, if given care and some intense therapy, they could totally be awkward teen romance of the summer. But the cannibalism should probably be talked about b4 that

Overall I think the general populous of Mitsukou could really benefit by trying to understand their dynamics a lil better, but what would I know I’m no yaoiologist

TL;DR (and end notes don’t forget) Basically, I wish he kept the short-lived confidence he gained in the Hell of Mirrors. I wish his cutesy-mean attitude died after as well. I also wish he wasn’t nearly as feminized as he is. (He’s not 4,9 he’s taller than Nene and would most likely be (if he didn’t die, rest in rip) the same height if not taller than Kou). Also his dynamic with Tsukasa makes me uncomfortable, like deeply so, it’s kinda really weird. ALSO(also) I think the constant comparison to Hananene is weird because the same comparison can be made to literally 90% of the other ships, why is no one ever comparing them to Terukane? Or Aoiaoi? Or Sumi6 (actually I completely understand why not sumi6 but they’re literally all human x supernatural no one is special)

Anyway the point I’m attempting to get across (while sleep deprived) is that (to me) Mitsuba as a character just doesn’t tickle my fancy and I tried my best to explain some reasons why. if you don’t agree, that’s perfectly fine! No one is entitled to agree with me.

You said you like Stranger Things in one of your asks, who's your favourite character? Also which character do you personally most relate to and which character do you find the most interesting and/or complex (and please feel free to elaborate in great detail!)

Hello, thank you for the ask! This is such a hard question but I'll try to answer to the best of my ability.

If I had to choose, my favourite character is probably Nancy. I mean, she's just really cool. I love how she's evolved over the seasons and how it reflects on her physical character design (hair, costume, etc). I love how she interacts with the people around her because it is so interesting. For example, in the fight she has with Jonathan in S3, she is trying to show him the misogyny she's been facing and is getting extremely frustrated at him for not seeing it, but at the same time she is blind to the classism he's facing and his difficulties with his poverty. She didn't have ill intentions, she just felt so so strongly that she became sort of tunnel-visioned. I love her passion, how she sees everything around her with a need for justice, how everything is worth her time because she wants to know things. I LOVE that her career goal is a journalist because I could truly see her thriving in that when she finds a niche. I can't wait for her to leave Hawkins and go to university and find herself because she has this potential, this spark that makes her so unique from the other characters to me. Whenever she's on screen it's HER scene, you know.

Funnily enough, the character I would say I relate most to is Jonathan. Or kind of a mix between him and Nancy. He also has this immense passion, like Nancy, but his is like a precise volt of energy into his photography and he hides this passion beneath a dark exterior that he hopes will ward people off. I may be a terrible photographer, but I relate to the concentration of all of your fervency into this one part of life that gives you a sense of being needed. Jonathan needs to feel needed. We can see that in how he's falling off the rails in S4, because his brother doesn't really need him anymore - Will is growing up, Nancy is busy in a whole other state, El has Will and Joyce - and Jonathan is lost without being needed by these people, so he turns to weed for an escape because it stops him thinking. (BIG FUCKING RELATE).

I fucking love Jonathan. I need him to catch a break because he's been through so much. Anyway, I'm not sure what else I can say about him, because there is SO much. I could make another post about Jonathan if anyone would be interested - I could make it far more organised than this.

You also asked who I found most fascinating, but I suppose I've sort of covered that, so I'll just ramble on a bit about some pairings I like? (You invited this I'm afraid.)

As one may guess I absolutely love Jonathan and Nancy. I don't think their relationship is the healthiest but that doesn't stop me being obsessed with everything about their pairing and the aesthetic of it. I think daily about that scene of them lining up their scars. What they want through was unique to them and they found themselves in each other when the trauma made them feel alone. They wound themselves together because all of their pain was reflected in eachother - and while that's not a great reason to start dating, I truly think they fell in love with eachother as they did this, and I can't blame them for wanting to find the slightest bit of comfort after what they went through. I love how dark and twisted the reason for their love is. I love how softly they hold eachother despite it. I love how they talk about the other when they're not there, how despite all of the darkness in their lives, they're eachother's anchor to the real world. I love how their career goals line up, the journalist and the photojournalist, and I love how Nancy brings Jonathan's passion out of him and let's him show it in front of her without being afraid of being judged, and he let's her follow her dreams, her thirst for knowledge, even if it means him losing the one girl who makes his life worth living. He's willing to leave her life if it means she can live it fully.

Anyway, some other dynamics I like are Will and Mike - romantically, Lucas and Max - romantically and Will and El - sibling dynamic. I really do hope Mike and Will can get together in the final season, because I think it would draw the show to this really nice close. Yes, the freak can have his true love. He can be loved because he is a freak, he is different - they're both different, but with eachother they're Kings of the world. Society's expectations don't matter when they have eachother.

With Max and Lucas, they are just so sweet. Lucas might not fully understand Max's depression and grief, but he wants to understand it. Something about that complete devotion, even when Max isn't being herself, just pulls at my heart. I really want an unconditional love like that. Max might've thought that Lucas was changing, that he wouldn't care about her after becoming popular - but then he's there, when she's almost died because of Vecna, and he's telling her I'm here, i'm here, I'm here, and he's holding her so tight that she can feel that he won't let anything happen to her. They are just like... soulmates. Seriously. They fit together like puzzle pieces and they NEED eachother. By now, we’ve probably all heard the name ‘Kara Zor-El.’ The up-and-coming businesswoman is the head of House El-Incorporated, more commonly known as ‘Elco,’ a rising tech giant specializing in bringing technology from beyond the starts to our little blue speck. Kara is also the leading figurehead in the rising Alien-rights movement, using her fame and fortune to found charities, protests, and spurring on legal action. Kara is an alien herself; a refugee from a planet that no longer exists. She often speaks about her world to raise awareness, and carries a bit of home with her everywhere. Kara is rarely seen in any outfit other than the traditional wear of her people; a constant reminder of a home lost. You may have heard of her planet. It was called Krypton. We managed to get an interview with the Woman of Tomorrow herself; Kara was happy to reach out on the phone to speak with us about her daring outfits, what they mean to her, and what they meant on her home planet.

Rachel Morrigan: Very happy to talk to you, Kara. I must say; I’ve been loving your outfits for a long time. It’s always such a joy to see your newest clothing - and I hear you were excited to talk about them!

Kara Zor-El: Happy to meet you too, Rachel! I - oh, well. I don’t know if excited is the right word, honestly; I’m always happy to talk about Krypton. People have been talking about my ghozh for years now. I will say I’m excited to put my own opinion out there.

RM: Kryptonian clothing trends to be longer and flowing, at least as far as I’ve noticed. Lots of draping sleeves and swishing skirts; but there will often be sections of it removed. You wore a beautiful - ghozh? Is that right?

KZE: Ghohz means clothing; an ughohz would be a full outfit.

RM: - a beautiful ughozh to that Edge Global charity gala last month. It was remarkably different from your other outfits - any reason behind that?

KZE: [laughing] Gosh, I’m still getting used to people keeping track of all my outfits. Yes, the outfit I wore to the National City Hospital gala is what would be called a ughozh’:dhoia; literally, that would mean ‘beautiful outfit’ if you were to translate it. It has a more formal connotation than just ‘nice clothes?’ It would be like - a cute outfit could be :dhoia, but a ughozh’:dhoia specifically means a suit or robes for formal wear. It has to be flashier than usual, and really stand out from daily wear.

RM: That certainly fits, because - wow. I wish I had the back to pull that off. You certainly got a lot of attention. Does that outfit have any particular meaning to your culture?

KZE: Yes, actually, but - I don’t know how long you have. I’d have to do a lot of explaining to get to the point.

RM: Please, ramble away! I’d love to hear anything you have to say about your clothing. Really, we know so little - the only examples of Kryptonian clothing we had until these last few years was your cousin’s costume.

KZE: God, I love my cousin, but that is not Kryptonian clothing. Seriously, Kal - put your damn underpants on the inside, you’re embarrassing me.

RM: Not a very high opinion, then. I take it you’re not going to be throwing on a similar costume at any point, then? No plans to run around as, ah, Superwoman or something like that?

KZE: No, not at all. Kal does good work, but I don’t think I’ll ever follow in his footsteps. I’m far too busy to run around punching all my problems, Rachel. There’s just no time for superhero work in the agenda.

random yuno stuff to make up for the fact ive only been rambling abt makoto so far

yuno is a little MENACE /aff they love pulling little pranks, annoying people and inconveniencing them in little ways. she obviously never takes it far and because she can read people well, they know when someone is too annoyed/upset and makes sure to apologize and make it up to them when she gets carried away. she loves playful banter and their love laguage is definitely friendly bullying

doesnt have the best relationship with her dad and her mom is uhm . out of the picture you could say [this is a pun only i and perhaps pinna get but i will elaborate on it. someday] so they tend to sneak out a lot to stay with UNIT MEMBER THAT SHALL NOT BE MENTIONED UNTILL MY SISTER DECIDES TO FINALLY FLESH THEM OUT AND TELL ME ABOUT THEM. anyway yeah yuno doesnt like staying home unless its them locked up comfy in their room doing their own thing, so they go out a lot and spend most of their time out and about doing whatever they feel like doing

despite their cheery and energetic personality, their mindset is actually pretty nihilistic, believing nothing really matter and life has no set meaning. she believes people exist just to exist, same as everything else. youre born, you live, you die. however she doesnt see it as a bad thing, it motivates her to make life as fun as possible while it lasts and to not dwell on anything too long since its inconsequential in the long run, my girl just wants to have fun with it !!

very creative person !!! she cant stick to just one art medium for too long and instead does all kinds of stuff, their favourite form is watercolor painting tho! she thinks the soft look of the paints is very pretty, but besides that she also does sculptures, writing, other types of paintings, digital art, sewing, literally you name any form of artistic craft and they probably tried it at least once, its their main form of self expression since they dont talk about their feelings like. at all

related to the feelings thing, theyre VERY expressive, which is one reason why they never feel the need to talk about their feelings, its cause everyone can simply tell what they feel. she learned that if people cant read you they will ask too many questions and get overly concerned, so she started putting her feelings on full display, yet still doesnt like elaborating on them. shes the kind of person you can know for years and suddenly you realize that after all this time spent together, you dont know much about them at all. she doesnt feel the need to open up, believing some things arent important for others to know [mostly because of her life "philosophy" or whatev u wann call it]

their fav colours are yellow and pink!!! pretty obvious since they LOVE wearing them, most of their closet is actually made up of clothing in those exact colours :3 if you ask her to pick between those 2 colours she will go on a rant about how its impossible to choose and will make the speech overly emotional and theatrical for no reason other than to mess with you

speaking of theatrical shes a HUGE wxs fan !!! she randomly saw their show one day when hanging out at the phoenix wonderland and LOVED IT!!! again, she loves every form of art so this was to be expected. emu especially caught their eye with her silly childlike wonder vibes, not to mention the pink hair was an immediate attention grab for yuno lmao. when they learn more about the troupe they grew to not only admire and respect them as performers but also on a more personal level, especially tsukasa and his leadership and sheer stage presence. i feel like tsukasa would definitely end up treating yuno like another one of his siblings tbh dkdghdjdhbd they have a pretty silly dynamic in my head

basically she thrives in any social setting, not everyone enjoys their company but shes not bothered by that at all and continues to do her own thing and being their silly energetic self, its no fun otherwise for them

she enjoys learning and wants to learn so many random things.. they also often just study how other people act and have a very strong interest in psychology and social stuff, you can often catch her staring and looking around at others with an oddly determined and focused look. despite her love of learning they do NOT enjoy school, mostly using it as a social space and an excuse to not be home. their grades are fine, but she finds most classes boring and only wants to learn stuff that interests her.

one of her hobbies includes fixing random stuff no matter how difficult with no experience because shes convinced she can just "figure it out" and it always works. they cant explain how they did it exactly but she will fix pretty much anything up somehow. everyone finds it a little scary because you can find her messing with electrical objects to fix them with zero clue on what to actually do to fix them. but they will always be fixed.

their only issue that they cant seem to brush off and follows them around no matter what is their fear of abandonment, she feels the constant need to be around people and have as many close friends as possible, they cant stand being alone. its no fun living when you have no one. they want to do their thing and have fun, but sometimes the self doubt creeps in and she starts wishing she was more normal. its a constant struggle for them, but they still tend to try and brush it off with some excuse like "i can always find someone else", and immediately feel weird about thinking that because who would want to replace their friends like that? this runs rlly deep btw and i wanna expand on this more when i figure out her backstory properly

so yeah, they stay silly but at what cost... /j

basically yuno is like. the embodiment of "i was born to love my friends and have a silly fun time"

Here’s some thoughts I’ve had about our sweet boy Ed-weird-o. This has no organization, is straight off the dome mostly but he’s just so asdfgjk;/&-/)/@ ✨✨

The reason his kindness shines through his tough/metal head exterior is because he knows how lonely he’s felt as a kid and doesn’t want to let the endearingly named sheepies ever succumb to what society and the “American dream” thinks they should enjoy

Even if Henderson (his favourite even though he’d never admit it out loud in such words) annoys the piss out of him with the fact that he NEVER SHUTS UP OR IS WRONG. It would hurt Eddie so bad if he had the same moment Steve did when Steve pumped him up before the snowball

Like Eddie would wanna throw DOWN

“FUCK THAT HENDERSON. Who gives A SHIT if they think you’re weird or a nerd. They’re just pissed they don’t have a single iota of your intelligence or creativity”

“FUCK MAN.” Fusses with his hair and tries to catch his breath and just makes himself more annoyed “who the hell do they think they are?!”

Finally de-escalates after Dustin keeps trying to calm him down with a super shocked face “dude… am I your favourite?” Cheeky grin

“Shut the hell up Henderson! It just makes me so—”

“Does this mean I can help with the Next campaign?”

Eddie scoffs, slightly offended “does my mastery of the dungeon not meet your expectations?”

“NO! Of course not! I just think if we collaborated we could really show them- ”

Then they argue/collaborate about the next campaign Eddie swinging from excitedly needing to take notes but not having paper or wanting this wave length of PURE GOLD to stop for him to find some

Later when he’s at home at the trailer (IF HE DOESNT GET DISTRACTED 🤦‍♀️) he’s furiously trying to remember everything and write quick notes so he can elaborately trick Dustin into falling into a trap

Plot twist: Dustin probably doesn’t. That kid is too friggin’ smart

Okay that was a lot of one scenario of Eddie and Dustin but I just love them guys. The brotherly vibe they give off is just 🥹🥹🥹

Eddie with a girlfriend would INSIST he isn’t whipped or a “simp” at first

But he totally is.. cmon.

Okay, imma elaborate on my madwheeler roleswap bullshit.

For those who have no idea what i’m talking about (probably most of you, i imagine 😅), the basic premise is this: what would Stranger Things/Hawkins look like if Max had lived in Hawkins from the beginning, and Mike & the Wheelers moved to Hawkins in season 2?

My previous posts on this are linked here (initial premise, basically breaking down how canon deviated to allow for the role swap) here (elaborating on potential implications of swapping Mike & Max’s roles for El & her relationships) and here (this talks vaguely about how removing Mike might change season one/party dynamics). All previous posts are gonna be elaborated on as i get further in my rewatch/plot this out more tho, lol. If anyone has any thoughts, other takes, or wants to bounce ideas around or offer their own opinions on how the season could potentially deviate based on this premise, i’d seriously love to hear about it (talking ab this stuff is my catnip ngl).

(Speaking of! @faithfulcat111 hiiiiiiii! I figured i might as well tag you on this post, since this focuses a lot on how season 1 might be different—specifically, differences caused by the fact that Nancy Wheeler isn’t in Hawkins, since I haven’t gotten to posts specifically describing how season 1 could/would go down yet (…in part bc i haven’t decided how i think it should go down, & also bc i rlly have to do that rewatch 😅). I haven’t decided whether Will was biking home from Max’s the night he was taken, or if he was just… at home, y’know? Because if will was targeted by vecna, (& i think he was lol), whether he was biking home or just at his house wouldn’t matter, except for the fact that one option creates waaaaay more angst for our characters than the other, especially if the Mayfield’s trailer was the last place will was seen 😬🤷.)

Now, can we talk ab the potential implications of No Nancy Wheeler?

Like. Wherever Nancy Wheeler grew up, it sure as hell wasn’t Hawkins, and that has all kinds of impacts on the people who ARE still in Hawkins.

In Rebel Robin, Robin basically all but says that Barb chose Nancy over her. No Nancy… are Barb & Robin still friends?

Steve isn’t pursuing Nancy, which means Nancy doesn’t drag Barb along to Steve’s party, which means Barb doesn’t get taken—at least, not because of the party. Was Steve pursuing someone else? Maybe Heather Holloway, or Chrissy Cunningham? Maybe one of them is invited to the party. Maybe she dies earlier, in this universe.

Or maybe she survives the monster attacks. Become part of the action, part of the force against the Upsidedown.

Without Nancy there… does Jonathan Byers take the pictures? [We need to have a brief sidebar about Jonathan. First and foremost, I love this character. Second, taking noncon pictures of someone, especially when they’re in a vulnerable position, is never okay. What Jonathan did was badly handled in canon and, frankly, out of character.]. Perhaps, rather than taking the photos, Jonathan trips, falls, cuts himself while wandering the woods looking for Will. His blood draws a monster (that perhaps gets caught on jonathan’s camera?), which causes Jonathan to either scream, burst through the bushes into the pool party rambling about a faceless monster like a madman, or both.

Now, having witnessed Jonathan Byers’ incident, Steve’s involved. Maybe he gets suspicious of the woods around his house, catches a glimpse of the monster too. Potential slowburn Stonathan friendship bc it’s clear, from the fact that Steve goes to apologize & pays for a new camera & talks ab hanging out with Jonathan in season 4, that steve genuinely wants to be friends with this guy.

In this au, Steve likely wouldn’t break Jonathan’s camera, bc Jonathan hasn’t given him a (frankly, completely justified) reason to. Steve & Jonathan’s fistfight probably wouldn’t happen. But unless Jonathan sees the monster… without Nancy & the photos Jonathan took of Barb getting taken, Jonathan has no reason to believe his mother, and no reason to try & fight the demogorgon (which probs wouldn’t be called a demogorgon here, given that the party isn’t as into dnd w/out Mike, RIP).

You know what else No Nancy means? Nobody to make the connection about demogorgons & blood. & later, in season 2, No Nancy back in season 1 means Alive Barb, which means no exposing Owens/the lab, which means the lab is still up & running in season 3, & ALSO means no Murray until season 3 at Least (through Hopper), AND given Nancy’s wildly different relationships in this au could mean there’ll be nobody to stab Will with a hot poker & free him from the mindflayer at the end of season 2, and depending on how we resolve that & season 3—

Basically, Nancy Wheeler is insanely important, and her absence is gonna have a lot of implications. (Thankfully, given that the Wheelers move to Hawkins pre-season 2, she’ll be around for season 4. 🙏)

Are there any particular elaborate character/oc playlists you’d like to share?? Or just a song or two?? Always love character playlists 🫣

So I follow some people who have elaborate character playlists in that they're like 100 songs long. Most of mine are not that, but I don't know that I'd consider mine "not elaborate" still, you know?

Most of my playlists are for canon characters, but I do have oc playlists also.

Anyway, since the spirit of the post / ask is to be able to ramble about a playlist, I'll pick a shorter one (not the shortest even but you know).

For my Shez OC - the main character from Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes. His name is Avery (he/they).

The game sets up the character as lacking a sense of self-preservation. Like the main character from the previous game, he has a spirit of something inside of him, speaking to him, saving him, guiding him. They complain about Avery jumping off a cliff more than once as if it would make them stronger.

The first song on the playlist is Bullet Proof ... I Wish I Was, because there's a lot of implication that the reason this character might not have been in the original story / timeline in Fire Emblem Three Houses because they did not live to see it, and I like leaning into the tragedy of that.

The second song is Writing's On The Wall, which has lyrics that align with that "there are clear signs that something unpleasant or unwelcome is going to happen." Avery feels something "familiar" with the Agarthans, who were the primary or secondary antagonists in fe3h depending on what route the player took, and Arval, the spirit inside Avery, says things that have a strong ominous tone. Avery is determined not to be the villain, but there's hints that whatever happens is "fate" and "destiny" and beyond his choice.

The third song is The Kiss of Life and it has lyrics which lend to the same moods as the previous two songs, and also pairs well with if you ship the two protagonists of those two games, which I do. Faedolyn, my Byleth OC, would have the ability to use Divine Pulse to turn back the clock to save Avery in most circumstances / canon-adjacent au's, and I like to think that Avery's connections to other characters, whether romantic or platonic are strongly what would drive them to long for the purpose that Fae finds easily (in his opinion) on their own.

The next song is What Feels Like Eternity, and if you've listened this far I like to think that the beat of the music is helping drive you along to stay on board with me. It is about trudging along and also refers to negative events as a bad dream. In the first chapter of few3h, Arval says, "I am a being that exists on the edge of dreams and reality." And the game didn't lean into this or use it well in my opinion, but I have spoken at length to friends about what this could mean for my oc.

Then you have I Am Not a Robot, and in the Golden Wildfire route of few3h, Avery gets to both explore the Bernadetta support chain (which I have my gripes about but that's not for here) where he encourages her to not judge people by their covers, like books; and gets to explore a Claude who is in conflict with himself, and who Avery is concerned would sacrifice him (a mercenary) and others like him as his goals shift and change. Additionally, and much more importantly, it is something to experience but not presented clearly, that Avery's birth parents who died under mysterious circumstances were probably killed by his adoptive mother who was either an Agarthan agent or a runaway Agarthan looking to revive Arval / Epimenides. They were looking to use him as a vessel with the intention of complete personality overhaul, they just needed the body. And I think this song suits characters who are victim to this kind of thing.

Next is Chambers, which has a lot of self-sacrificing styled lyrics as well as lyrics that imply a struggle between the narrator and someone he cares for. This, and also in particular the line "Oh, would you still offer your embrace, If it's another place you'd find me in?" fit well for me the way that Avery would rather die than be in conflict with the people he cares for / has witnessed and decided are innocent or good. He would not willingly be whatever the Agarthans would make of him.

We're nearing the end! The next song is Oh My Dear Lord. The lyrics are about a burnout who can't deviate from their path. I think Avery doesn't believe in the Goddess on his own momentum, and that the Agarthan adoptive mother he had wouldn't have raised him with any experience in the Church of Seiros. So the lyrics for him would be a cry to the void, to nothing, with language that is pseudo-religious from someone who doesn't know how to be pious. I think he had wild and exciting mercenary days pre-canon, but they didn't exactly leave him prepared for the life he would lead.

Second to last we have Goodbye, which I discovered from the show DARK (never finished the second season). The terror of being "just a bad dream" meant for Arval to wake up from, and the inability to properly interact with the world around him (Avery) is why this song is on the list.

Finally, I added Me and the Devil after seeing this fanvid of being victim to or ally of or the seduced of a number of popular villains, which is also there for the betrayal I would have loved to see / experience between Avery and Arval, though I wouldn't have been disappointed by their tragic friendship with Epimenides being "the true villain" if Epimenides had been explored earlier in the story and a stronger character overall.

Some people who did manage to get to know me for a while on other social media sites or maybe even servers back when i was active in these places might know that all it takes to lure me into liking literally any series is to show me a character that's built like this (as long as i have the energy to consume a new piece of media that is, hyperfixiating on stuff can be so exhausting sometimes 😭😭 have you ever been so happy over something that it literally hurts?)

The first early early impression i think

so it all started when i was active on twitter dot com back then when i had an intense dark matter hyperfixiation going on for almost a year can you believe it?

So, of course, i said something along the lines of "show me any characters with one eye bla bla bla bonus points if theyre gay or evil or something" or anything like that

And so

Someone said "heeeyyy Wheatley from portal is silly!!! Something something i love him or something like that or whatever!! :DDDD" i have a terrible memory and i think that's very easy to notice

And then

I will have to confess something

At first i was skeptical of portal because i heard it had humans

Im not gonna bother to explain my reasoning because its kinda complicated and id rather not elaborate with my feelings towards humans so

But then

I assume i either searched for Wheatley videos or youtube just recommended it to me because algorithm magic and all of that

And then

I saw

The first impression

So i found one of these random portal videos with wheatley on it

So i was intrigued by this several feet tall spider-looking robot

And then

I saw this video

So, while i was in the middle of watching this video, there was this specific circumstance that made me go "oh boy i am gonna have to get to know more about this series now aren't i?"

So after seeing that video, i ended up watching an entire walkthrough of portal 2 with no commentary because my laptop was and still is broken so i couldn't play it myself

And funny story, that caused me to experience the tetris effect for a small while afterwards

And later of course i also watched portal 1 content because why wouldn't i

I know i watched portal 1 and 2 in the wrong order but still

At the end i am thankful that i got to experience the portal franchise even if it was through videos instead of actually getting to play it since when i got into the franchise my mental health was on a low point at the time and portal helped me feel better if i say so myself

I would say more but i feel kinda anxious so i will probably end it there, this franchise means a lot to me and im glad i didn't miss on having a piece of cake after all

this time i will attempt to summarize more than one episode. i mean, i could do them back to back but i will try to condense them. so uh, it will probably fail. but who knows?

ep 5:

the episode is called creepy teacher, and for good reason. his classroom is dimmed and he calls his students his subjects. there are also mushrooms growing. what the fuck. THERE ARE ASLO CHAINS HANGING FROM THE CEILING AND THE TEACHER HAS A THRONE

why is he asking them to repeat all of their medical records out loud wtf wtf i do not feel safe. to see if theyre appropriate candidates

Sam's medical record: Blood type B, 5'9', likes crayons, (allegedly) an iq of 250

Taurtis' medical record: "I have had my memory repeatedly lost, I've had amnesia multiple times, I've been stabbed in the abdomen, I've broken my legs by jumping off a building before, i've been shot in the shoulder, and, um, I think that's about it." (okay buckaroo no need to go all out)

The teacher does not think they are appropriate candidates

WE DONT GET DOMS MEDICAL RECORD NOOO

i think that speaks for itself

the teacher is now agressively sniffing taurtis, rambling about a certain smell. He then says, ominously to taurtis, "oh..... yeah. you're the one." i am scared for taurtis.

He (the teacher, who's name is Proffessor Geode Rocks,) says that "[he] did it" and "now my plan will finally be a success" and then, to Taurtis, "you will make me proud." AND HE TAKES A SAMPLE OF TAURTIS' DNA

WAIT IS THAT IGBAR VON SQUID FROM THE FIRST EPISODE? anyway (OH MY GOD IT IS)

Prof. Geode screams about world domination and then the bell rings. that's the end of their first day of school. i am scared, and awaiting my grain boy

Grian says "this school is definetly an upgrade" then immediately takes it back as they round a corner and find one of Senor Loro's DECAPITATED GOATS

Grian does not wrestle Senor for his schedule. okay.

nevermind.

...why is the.. WHY IS THE OLD MAN DRESSED AS A SCHOOL GIRL.

Grian is not fooled, but Sam and Taurtis are. They want Grian to talk to "her". Oh my god. Grian is creeped out by the fact the old man said that he has nice legs (he did.) so sam and taurtis go in for him. wow. was not expecting that. NO. GRIAN NO DONT GO OVER THERE WITH THEM

Sam: "Grian, you like girls right?" Grian: *no hesitation* "No i'm into dudes." Me: YO

okay so the episode ends with everyone heading into teacher tori's room. i think ill do one more.

Teacher Tori has Grian introduce himself, and Sam and Taurtis peer pressure him into telling the "rooftop story"

grian says he kinda sucks as a teacher AND I AGREE POP OFF GIRAN

senor loro gives them a "crystal of Tenochtitlan," one each, and they are appearntly ancient artefacts of aztec descent. I am scared. OH MY GOD THEY ALLOW PEOPLE TO TALK TO ANIMALS? WHAT? damn those aztecs were crazy. These crystals should help them find the goats and (hopefully) the goat killer

Grian says that outside of "wrassling," senor loro is a nice guy. I have to agree, considering he offered them anything from the vending machine on the out for lunch. 10/10 guy (so far)

the episdoe ends with the trio exiting the wrassling ring. i'm gonna do the next episode because i really want to see grian's medical record lmao

ep 8:

on god more epic fanart. honestly sam is a shit guy but its nice of him to include fanart :/ at least imo

Yee makes a return. The boys commit a scientific experiment to see who she likes. She says "come here bab" and Sam steps forward. he is not the one, she called him ugly. lmao. Dom confidently runs up to her. Not sure if Yee thinks hes ugly all i know is she was probably scared by his rapid approach. Taurtis steps forward. She calls him a tater tot. it is not him. Actually no. I'm gonna elaborate on this post since it's driving me insane

so uh if you haven't already listened to Four Pink Walls by Alessia Cara go do that! (asking nicely) anyway this might be a bit rambly sorry 😅

uh so modern au I think because it would just work better so set around now. I think Nancy and Robin are about 19/20-ish? ummm like I said childhood bestfriends maybe eachother's first crushes? (That'd be so fun to write a flashback scene about lol)

They say I love you whenever either of them hangs up the phone or leaves to drive home and have since forever both of them wanting more but thinking the other means it platonically.

They just get the other person so well. The kind of friends that just seem to talk in their own language (and maybe when they were little girls they tried to make one, only a couple words actually sticking in their vocabulary for longer than a week. And maybe Nancy references a few of these made up words in a song of their's, but never despite being asked time and time again to explain actually tells them what it means, because it was just hers and Robin's thing)

Nancy's parents don't get along. probably should've never been married in the first place. their dad was always at work and when he was at home he sure as hell wasn't playing any sort of music. Nancy and their dad didn't really interact that much. Nancy and her mom have... a complicated relationship but it's better than hers and Ted's.

Music wasn't played loud in their house, her experience so different from other kids she knows at school who seem to know all different types of music. And so Nancy Wheeler learn music from small things; her mother humming the best melodies from old songs, the radio playing in the car on the way to school. that is until she met Robin Buckley in second grade. Robin who was sunshine bright and was so smart she already knew 2 languages. Robin was probably the only reason Nancy started writing songs. Robin would bring over CDs filled with all different kinds of music and they'd work on their homework.

About a year later was when Nancy actually started writing songs. none of them good but it was out of boredom, scribbled into an old journal. Like most things when you were a child her writing songs didn't last long. they wrote a couple for a few weeks then forgot about it.

And maybe then she's 15 and wants to leave Hawkins so bad. she's just stare up at the ceiling, the bumpy popcorn kind, as her ceiling fan shakes and dust falls from the blades. She would just lay there and dream up the life she could have. And that's where the idea for her first song and years comes room. and so she writes and writes and writes. it's not perfect but it's good!

and then she's 17 and she's pretty much come to terms with the fact that she's in love with their best friend. Robin who maybe a month after she started writing again found one of the songs laying open on her desk and, well Nancy would do anything for her so of course she played the song for Robin. again this one wasn't perfect but the way Robin was smiling it might as well have been.

maybe it was her mom or maybe it was Robin but somehow someone convinced her to sign up to play at a little market during summer. things kinda spiraled. by the next summer she was playing at a (given still small but still...) music festival in Indianapolis.

that's where she met their record producer (I don't actually know how all of this works so bear with me please) it was like every little thing in the universe, all the moments leading up to this aligned for this meeting.

She was with Robin in her room when the label called her. She'd given the guy at the show her number, and because she thought it might help, her youtube account where she posted a lot of their songs. they say they want to have a meeting with her. Nancy was finally seeing their opportunity to get out of this place. Away from all of this, anyway from the zero opportunities and her inevitable fate of becoming a housewife in a loveless marriage like her mother or stuck at a desk job. Away from everything she hated. But also away from Robin... who smiling at her just as bright as she was the day Nancy met her. god she could kiss her. she shouldn't- couldn't, but she wanted to anyway. she'd been in love with Robin before she understood love. Nancy kept a full notebook of love songs under her mattress; odes of friendship and love and sunlight, pain and yearning too.

It took months, lot's of meetings, and pissed her dad off immensely but Nancy got signed. She and Robin celebrated by having a sleepover, something they hadn't done in ages. both of the laying side by side, slightly leaned into eachother staring at the ceilings, surrounded by the pink walls of her room Robin points her fingers trying to make constellations our of the bumps of her roof and Nancy almost confesses her love right there.

ummm so that turned out be be a lot more rambly than intended sorry (it's almost 1k words long) this probably didn't makes sense but it is the ramblings of a crazy person at 2am
