hi, can you please do a chris one about the things reader do that make his heart flutter, please 🫶🏻
Tumblr media
Heart to Heart (Chris Sturniolo)
a/n: okay guys, i didn't know exactly how to write this but i sort of just ended up making it about moments in the relationship. i think its super cutesy and i hope you love it. thanks for the request anon, love ya
contains: fluff and alot of it, soft boyfriend chris, falling in love, chris third person pov, kissing, 950+ words
The first time Chris’ heart skips a beat, it’s so subtle he almost misses it. He’s meeting a girl. A pretty girl. It’s not new for him; he meets pretty girls almost every day. But something is different about this one and it catches him off guard. He can’t put a finger on it, can’t say what part of her has him off balance. He only knows that one minute everything was normal and then he met her eyes and now it’s like the world is somehow spinning backwards. Then she smiles, tells him her name, and asks for his. And suddenly everything is the same again, but now slightly different.
***********
She’s rambling the night he realizes there’s no way in hell he can just be her friend. There’s a movie on, but no one is looking at the screen. It’s the one she’s seen a million times and the one he only put on to watch her watch it. She’s criss-cross applesauce in his bed, mixed-matched fluffy socks on her feet, talking about how different this scene is in the book. And he doesn’t care at all, but he nods and hangs onto every word because she does. On the screen, the boy’s dad tells him that he’ll know when he’s met the one because he won’t have to ask. And in his bed, next to this girl quoting the movie word for word, Chris realizes with a start that he’s never asked once.
***********
They never go on a first date; he can’t bring himself to call it that. But he does take her to dinner. It starts a bit awkwardly and he begins to worry that he’s fucked this up. But then he cracks a joke and she laughs and he tells ten more, chasing that sound. And then they are talking about everything- the moon, hot sauce, Shonda Rhimes, Roger Rabbit- until before they know it their plates are cleared and it’s time to go. They take a walk down a path she knows, and he reaches out and laces their hands together not missing the smile she tries to hide. When she trips over a rock, because of course she does, he catches her before she can fall. And as he begins teasing her, she leans up and kisses him mid-sentence, melting his words away. She pulls away and he’s stunned for a second, but only a second, and then pulls her back to him, his heart beating faster than he’s ever felt it before.
***********
Chris loves it when she gets ready for parties or events with him for a million different reasons, but he thinks he loves this part the most. She’s doing her hair or at least she’s trying to, but their playlist isn’t letting her be great. When she hears the beginning of Migos’ Stir Fry, she’s up in half a second singing the words, dancing around, and pointing at him for the next line. He jumps up to join her, matching her energy and giving his goofy footwork. She’s hyping him up, recording him, and then crumbling to the floor with laughter as he trips doing the pin-drop. He looks over at her grinning and when she comes over to help him up, he yanks her down on top of him so he can kiss her.
***********
“I think I’m in love with her.” He tells Matt late one night, the two of them sitting in the kitchen scrolling on their phones. Chris doesn’t even look over at him, but he feels his brother’s eyes boring into the side of his head. Then he feels Matt’s hand on his shoulder and Chris finally meets his eyes. “Not to step on your moment here, buddy. But you’re the last one to realize that.” His brother grins at him and he can’t help but join. His phone goes off and he glances down, seeing her name flash across the screen. It’s a Snapchat of her blowing him a kiss, her face covered in a green mask, telling him goodnight. It’s nothing out of the ordinary, but tonight it makes his heart stutter: He looks over at his brother, who’s still studying him knowingly, and rolls his eyes. “Shut up, bro.”
***********
He has his eyes closed, well on his way to sleep, when he feels her turn in his arms. He’s about to open his eyes and ask if she’s hot when he hears her say it. It’s only a bit louder than a whisper but unmistakable, if only for the way it makes his body feel like he’s floating.
“I love you so much, Chris.”
She rubs her nose against his once and then snuggles into his chest, her eyelashes giving him soft butterfly kisses. And then before the moment slips away from him, before he can talk himself out of it, he says it back. His voice is a little groggy and rough but his tone is gentle. She freezes, clearly unprepared to have been caught and he laughs a little, pulling her closer and dropping a kiss on the top of her head. She sits up in bed, turning to him in shock. He opens his eyes finally and raises his eyebrows.
“Don’t make it a thing-”
She stands and starts jumping on the bed like a kid on Christmas. “You love me. You love me.” She sings childishly, laughing as he tries to catch her legs and make her fall. He sighs, giving up and letting his head fall back against the pillow, unable to hold back his smile. “Shut up and come here.” He says, holding open his arms for her to fall into. And she does. And as he presses his lips to hers, her hands tangling into his hair, he holds on to her and hopes she never makes him let go.

handbinding of A Study in Scarlette by kittebasu
There are people who want to live forever, and then there is Shinichi, who just wants to live a little longer than this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this bind has been in my head since i first read the fic like, three years ago. i dreamed up so many ideas for it, for so long, and now it's finally done! the typeset was actually done in early 2022, back when i was still using google docs, but it went through a few iterations because i was just. so. fiddly. with every aspect of this book. it needed to be perfect (as close to perfect as i, an amateur bookbinder out of my depth, can get) and it had to be absolutely over the top, to reflect the insane amount of love and care that the author put into the fic itself.
the first time i read this fic, i barely knew what detective conan was, much less all of the intricate plot details; i was just along for the ride, but by the end i was completely invested. i went back and watched through the anime as well as a few movies (it took me six months) and then read the fic again. and then a few more times. kaishin and the world of dcmk has utterly gripped me. it's 100% this fic's fault and i love it so, so, much.
i went through a few iterations of visual designs and i'm really happy with the little details i managed to squeeze in.
the entire color scheme is based around red, because 1) it's a murder mystery, 2) for scarlette shinamoto (and the title of the fic as well as the original holmes novel it references), and 3) the irony of "lady red" actually being red. the secret fourth reason is that i think red/gold is a super sexy color combo.
i sewed the textblock with red thread to reference holmes' "scarlet thread of murder".
Tumblr media
another detail i love is the five yen coin bookmark, it was one of my first ideas and it turned out even better than i thought.
Tumblr media
i wanted the endpapers to evoke a sense of the white marbled floor of the ballroom, with the glow-in-the-dark kaitou kid caricature being the luminol on the floor, and the little pops of red looks like blood that's been mixed in. i lucked out in that the other side of the endpaper was like a lavender-purpley color, i like to think of it as a little wink wink nudge to the color of the actual Lady Red.
Tumblr media
the chapter pages got a few reworkings, but i'm happy with the illustrations i ended up doing for each of them. the chapter titles are one of my favorite things about the fic, each one has so much meaning packed into it and flows so beautifully, and i wanted to put as much care into making them pop as possible.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the cover was a linocut carving i designed and carved, which i then printed onto the bookcloth, and ironed on htv on top.
Tumblr media
i also threw in a couple of my drawings of my favorite scenes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is getting way too long, so i'll end it here. i'll have a separate post detailing the process every step of the way, if anyone wants to take a closer look. this fic is kind of directly responsible for getting me into fanbinding, so it's safe to say it altered the course of my life. i now spend way too much time (and money) looking at book stuff.
kittebasu, if, somehow, you see this and would like an author copy, i would be honored to make one and ship it to you; i would be overjoyed to gift you with any art i have the ability to make, because the fics you wrote have irreversibly altered my brain chemistry, and being able to give back in any capacity would be a dream. (thank you.)
a few postscripts:
i am not selling any copies of this fic. partially because i believe in the gift economy of fandom as well as firmly keeping fanbinding a hobby that will stay unmonetized, but also because it took me months (years, if we are counting when i first finished the typeset) to finish this and i do not have the strength.
however, if you are also a fan of this fic and would like a copy, i honestly, fervently, encourage you to give fanbinding a try! renegade publishing and its discord server are an absolutely wonderful and free resource. i knew nothing about bookbinding and had zero materials when i first started, but i've learned so much thanks to the lovely people there. if you're still apprehensive about getting started, i'd be willing to share my typeset of this fic as well as answer any questions about the making of this book if you DM me.

somewhere in the haze got a sense ive been betrayed
pairing: ethan landry x reader
WC: 1.3K

summary: people aren’t who they always say
A/N: i freaking loved scream6!!!!! literally wrote this the day after i watched the movie. gonna try and pop out a mix of angst and fluff for ethan cause i love my nerdy boyfriend. lowercase on purpose, sorry if that bothers you. if the chase scene sucks... mind your business, just skim the words.
masterlist
Tumblr media
“hello?”
“hello… y/n. i’ve missed the sound of your voice.”
it was like you heard the stereotypical horror movie music play in your mind. your blood went cold and your body seized up from the bucket of ice water that just splashed over your whole body at the voice of the horrific ghost face. the way he spoke your name made you feel even sicker.
“what is it now? gonna sweet talk me for a second before you start saying vile words and then pop out from a corner ready to stab me?” you took slow steps through the living room, trying to scope out where the killer could be lurking.
he just laughed, “well you do know how this works. after all, you already went through round one in woodsboro, somehow surviving multiple stab wounds to your stomach. impressive.”
the deep drawl of his voice only caused nausea to roll over you in waves. with quiet steps as you listened to the narcissist as they just talked and talked, you hurried to the kitchen and grabbed the biggest knife from the wooded block.
“honestly why don’t we just do this dance, huh? i was in the middle of a very good book and i would like to get to the part where the love interest resolved their differences and had hot sex. plus i’ve done this before and i’ve been working out.” you just started to blurt things out, your anxiety kicking into high gear.
ghost face didn’t say anything back and it only caused your fear to grow. so you just hung up and speed-dialed sam knowing she always answers her calls.
“come on, sam. please please plea-“
“y/n? what’s-“
“he’s in the apartment. please get here fast… i love you guys.” you hung up placing your phone in your back pocket. you hoped to make it alive again, but as mindy said, you're all expendable in sequels.
the noise of something crashing to the ground made you flinch high in the air, a small gasp slipping from your lips. the grip on the knife readjusted to get a firmer hold as you peeked around a corner, seeing nothing suspicious. so you started to make your way towards the front door, hoping you could escape the killer before he gets you.
as just as you passed quinn’s room you stepped on a creaky spot. you froze for a second before running to the door, fumbling with the five locks. and just as you were on the last two, sweat causing the metal to be slippery, your roommate's door burst open and ghost face, dressed in his black cloak and the dirty mask came dashing at you with the classic knife held high.
you screamed and ducked away needing to circle back to the door. you were able to get a quick swipe to their bicep before running to sam’s room and closing the door closed. you took a breath until loud banging slammed against the wooden frame, almost bending the door in half from its weight.
with ghost face distracted on the door, you ran through the shared bathroom, shutting and locking each door as you entered quinn’s room. you pushed her dresser against the bathroom for extra hold. when it was in place you ran, knife still in hand, and went back to get the last locks on the door free and ready for your escape.
just as you pulled the door open, ready to dash down the steps, you were pulled back with arms around your waist and pulled into a solid chest. you screamed and kicked, the knife falling to the floor. ghost face threw you to the ground, back hitting the living room chairs. you turned to your stomach to try and go for a push-up into a run, hands tight on your ankles pulled you back. your hands scrambled for purchase on something solid.
then suddenly the most blinding white hot pain shot through your right thigh pulling a high-strung scream from your vocals. then he gave the knife a twist making the pain shoot to your spine, you felt frozen. he pulled the dripping knife out and his hands grabbed your waist, pulling you further down before flipping you over and straddling your waist making you immobile.
you tried to push his arms away, but his strength was must higher than yours as he plunged the knife into your stomach then pulled out then back in. in and out, in and out. multiple more times that you knew you wouldn’t survive this one.
you tried using your last bit of strength to push his looming face away. with a solid hold, you ripped the stupid mask off the killer's face and the sight before you taking the last bit of air from your lungs.
“e-ethan?” you rasped out, blood dripping from your mouth.
your loving, sweet, handsome boyfriend of five months now stared down at you with a sickening twisted grin on his lips, teeth poking out like fangs. his thick head of luscious curls that you would run your fingers through when making out or just laying with each other were matted down with sweat, and the urge to touch them came back on instinct.
limply you lifted your left arm from the floor and cupped his cheek, you saw the look in his hungry eyes switch for a second before snapping back into place. “e-ethan… wh-why? i- i thought you lo-loved me.” with a gentle swipe of your thumb over his skin, his eyes involuntarily slipped closed at the comforting gesture.
“i do love you, sweetheart. but i have to do this.” a gloved hand held the one on his face, you were scared and confused by everything.
“i- i don’t-“ “i need to complete my brother's movie.”
you decided if you could keep ethan talking maybe the others will show up soon and save you, “br- brother? you- you said you were an- an only child.”
“sorry sweetheart, but i lied. had to get close to you and your friends somehow, and having a fake identity helps.” he whispered, “landry isn’t even my real last name.”
your anger was spilling over the brim. ethan used you to get closer to your friends, you were just a pawn in this stupid fantasy of his. and it hurt because you thought he was the one, the goodness that you needed in your life.
with both hands you held his cheeks then slid them slowly up into his sweaty curls, nails dragging over his scalp pulling a groan from his throat and usually, you loved the noise but now all you saw was red. so with a good fist full, you pulled his hair hard and then slammed your head together.
it caused ethan to fall back, dropping his knife. with the last of your strength, you tried to slide away from him, tried to grab your phone and call sam or chad, anyone at this point. but your luck had run out and ethan gained back his upper hand.
he grabbed a chunk of your hair, head pulled back with your eyes pointed at the ceiling. ethan leaned over your left shoulder and whispered in your ear, “i did love you. but family is family, gotta stick by them. so, any last words, y/n?”
with tears streaming down your face, and blood closing off your throat, you sniffle out your last words, “i loved you too,” you said with every bit of honesty, “but you're gonna get killed like the pussy you truly are.” you seethed with a blinding anger.
and the last thing you heard was the roar of ethan’s cry as you felt the cold metal slice your throat open and your head slumping hard on the wood flooring. you died at the hands of the first boy you truly loved in this twisted world.
love does kill you in the end.

I can't stop thinking about how well they portrayed Louis in the show. I think the change in race also really helped solidify the "vampire with a human soul" part of his character. Bare with me for what I mean by this; a lot of readers of the book tend to "not get Louis" and this was especially true of the movie, even AR said where it just seems like Louis is being annoying and whiny, go be a fun vampire. But Louis main conflict is that becoming a vampire changed nothing about him internally. The issues he has, primarily a concern with consumption and damnation don't go away. Louis is afraid of sin and also his own desires for indulgence. To some readers this may seem abstract, but they are often clear metaphors for being gay or alcoholism, Louis is very concerned with regulation, and not because he has any issues with drinking blood but more with how he is judged. He is very concerned about being seen as a monster (see Babette and portrait painter scenes). His big fight with Paul is also about Paul telling Louis that their family wasn't being holy enough. You can quickly see how Paul saying that they need to change their entire lifestyle is a judgement on Louis, the head of the household. Louis also said that he didn't want to believe his brother could have been visited by saints, bc it would be proof his brother is somehow a better person than him. Louis's internal conflict is often easily summarized by his Catholic guilt, which again can be abstract to audiences who have never experienced internalized homophobia or just a large sense of shame/feeling you are being watched
Anyways, why is the change in race smart, it's another way we can see Louis continues to be human governed by human rules, despite being a vampire. We can see it very clearly in how he is treated by society in the show, he is still treated as "lesser". Lestat thinks Louis should be above such things because he is a vampire, and while being gay and being an alcoholic are to some degree things you can hide, Louis's race is not. The opera being the last scene in Ep 2 where the schism between Louis and Lestat begins to get worse, is also where Louis has to act like Lestat's valet in public. If they were both gay white men they could at least act as equals, friends business partners, whatever. But even Lestat "we are above society" has to go through with this act but is notably not upset by it while Louis is. So to audiences that didn't get his issues, Louis desire to basically just be "normal", not an alcoholic, not of a sexuality that would be remarked upon, (while both real these two in the books are not shown overtly and exist in Louis's fear of damnation, which is still fear of judgement by others, but it isn't something that has a scene of a random accosting him in the street, it's more a persistent fear in his head, in the show they showed both these more overtly in the confession scene and the police officers in their home) not of a race treated as inferior, not having to act up his masculinity, by mixing all of those together at least one should make you GET it. I think even Jacob Anderson said it in the podcast that Louis really just wants to have a domestic family life like anyone else, and in the book while it is glossed over Louis says the time he spent being happy was that domestic family life. He just wants to be loved and not judged
In a lot of ways vampirism should suit Louis, and the book IWTV often romanticizes Louis pouncing on his prey from dark corners of the street. And that is what fits Louis the best, the desire to be left alone to be himself

RWRB: A list of thoughts on the Campfire Scene
Ok I went to sleep for another hour to calm myself down and now I can form coherent thoughts about the scene and not just scream and squeal
It's a three-minute scene with two shots. The first shot is a little over two minutes
When Alex asks his question, Henry, who was looking into the fire, tilts his head towards Alex as if to listen better. After Alex finishes, Henry looks up towards the sky, like he's wondering how to answer
Alex doesn't really react to Henry's "Once upon a time" even though he's not directly answering Alex's question. He just listens, and that's such a beautiful thing
Nick deserves a round of applause for this scene, his monologue was two minutes long, and monologues are really hard to perform because it's just you who keeps talking, you don't really get to react to other things or people, it's just you, so Nick is a fantastic job
Nick's delivery and tone, and the way he sometimes ends a sentence a bit like a question (ex: "acutely") makes it sound like Henry's been thinking about this story/ metaphor for a while but this is the first time he ever verbalizes it, so while he knows what he wants to talk about thus he doesn't need to pause a lot to think of the story, he does occasionally need to think of the next word or line because again, he never actually said any of this out loud before, and Nick does that so well
@pippin-katz pointed out that Nick misspoke and said "sent the suit a prince of armour" which is hilarious, and while because movie, this shouldn't happen, realistically we all have moments where we mix words up so it almost feels more... authentic? Also, I didn't pick it up but now that Pippin mentioned it I'm really aware of it lmao
Also Henry/Nick's voice here is so soothing? I can almost imagine him telling bedtime stories to his and Alex's kids like this in the future. I wonder if Henry would write children's books because it feels like it'd be something he do and something he could write really well, if this clip is anything to go by. Plus I stumbled across an audio of Nick reading "The Emperor's New Clothes" before (I literally have no context of why he was reading that and it was literally just audio, not sure if I can find it anymore) and it was so soothing and calming that I fell asleep to it one night. Besides the full-cast RWRB audiobook that I'm practically demanding at this point, I wonder if he would be interested in doing more audiobook/narration stuff. He's really got the voice for it
The King sending a suit of armour to protect the prince's heart kind of further proves my point of the King being a much more loving grandparent to Henry than the queen in the book, and him worrying more about Henry himself than the image of the crown. He noticed that 1, Henry is an emotionally sensitive person, 2, Henry is gay, and both of those things could be turned against him easily, and he will get hurt. He does love Henry, just not in a way that's good for Henry. If we get a sequel I do hope we can see them reconcile in one way or another. It'd be a nice example for people in the same positions.
The "Nothing will ever happen to him" line!!!! I wrote a whole essay about Kensington and this line because somehow this line was one of the most powerful ones to me, but to know that it was originally Henry's word just adds another level of pain to the Kensington scene
You can see Henry's face light up when he starts talking about the peasant boy. And Alex's quick eyebrow raise and deep chuckle. It's so beautiful, I wanna cry
We talk about Alex's heart eyes, which, yes, but Henry's look of pure adoration and love at Alex when he says "Truly Alive" makes me want to melt
I yelled a little at Alex when he started to lay back down (as in I verbally shouted "DAMMIT ALEX LOOK AT YOUR MAN") because I felt like if Alex saw Henry's face in the following lines he'd figure out Henry has issues earlier? But then I saw a take saying the shot was framed like theatre where Henry's both centre stage and in the spotlight so the focus is on him, so Alex was designed to lay back down on the timber bench to make the entire space for Henry
Henry's look of sad longing when he talks about the peasant boy pulling apart his armor is heartbreaking
I wonder if this was originally planned to be the changing point from Alex's POV to Henry's POV? Because in that case I do think the lake scene worked better as a changing point
I also wonder how did Henry end the story in his head up to this point? Because as hopefully as the last line is, at this point in the story, Henry still doesn't believe he can keep this
I get why scenes are cut because when you're putting together a movie, there are a lot of things you don't see for individual scenes until you put them together. This is why as much as I want the cast and crew to get the premiere they deserve to have, I don't really want an extended cut of the movie, because things were cut for a good reason
That being said, if the cornetto scene and this scene proved anything, is that the scenes themselves are fascinating, and I WANT THEM ALL

tadashi yamaguchi - cooking genius
Tumblr media
a/n = finally found some time to write something with the mess that is school starting last week, and i'm not really the happiest with this work to be honest T-T also i've been reading one piece lately and i absolutely LOVE sanji hence why using his character in this fic
summary = a (not so) secret admirer starts leaving lunches on your desk everyday at school.
warnings = nothing really, pure fluff.
Tumblr media
yamaguchi was feeling gloomy from the moment you turned the tv on.
the two of you had a tradition; two times every week, you would meet up at either your or his house, watching different tv shows and movies together as a way to relax from school, volleyball, and other stressful things filling your lives. it was a perfect deal; you finally had someone to talk to about your current hyperfixations, and thanks to you, he finally had the motivation to watch all the things he never truly picked up.
so when you suggested rewatching your childhood favorite series, one piece, he was more than happy to agree. well, at least at first.
a grimace was almost stuck to his face the whole time since a certain blonde cook appeared on the screen, taking in all of your comments about your favorite character as the episodes went by. he listened as you gushed over the blonde, pupils almost heart-shaped at the sight of him in every scene, mumbling something along the lines of loving guys who can cook well as your hands went to grab the snacks.
but somehow, his lack of excitement went unnoticed by you; your focus being completely and utterly on the screen, invested in the story you already knew by heart. what you did notice, though, was a bento box lying on your desk at school a few days later, with a small note on top of it.
'made these just for you :)'
your head immediately turned towards yamaguchi, a tap on the shoulder being enough for him to turn around to you with a questioning look on his face.
"did you see who left it here?" yamaguchi shook his head in response, a soft sigh leaving your lips as you sat down and opened the box, eyes scanning the food inside.
you barely missed the faint blush and shy smile on your friend's face as he watched you notice all your favorite foods inside, digging into one of them with the happiest look in your eyes.
as days went by, more and more boxes appeared on your desk, the food in each one, to your surprise, tasting better than previous meals you got. each one came with another sweet note; whether a compliment or just something nice to make you smile for the rest of the day. before you knew it, you were stuck wondering who could it be; yamaguchi being the victim of listening to all your (terribly wrong) speculations about who might be behind all of this.
"ahh, i wish i knew who it is." you mumbled under your breath, pen scribbling little doodles on your english notebook, the empty box lying next to it with a few crumbs of the food inside. "you know, i might just marry them on the spot."
yamaguchi's eyes widened hearing those words, a faint blush on his face as he listened to your rambling, tsukishima's comment of how corny you were being going completely unnoticed by him.
he could hear the exciting squeals from you when the next day at school, the note on your bento box was something completely different than before.
'meet me at the history section in the library after classes, please :)'
when the bell rang, signaling the end of your last class that day, you ran to the place as fast as you could, breath shortening with each passing moment as the adrenaline mixed with stress ran through your body.
the history books section was one at the very end of the library, your steps slowing down as you approached the place. when your head finally turned to face the person hiding behind everything that's been making you smile for the last few weeks, you almost couldn't believe it.
"you came." a shy smile appeared on yamaguchi's face, hands trembling as he took in your surprised expression. "i- i was a bit scared you'd back out last second because you changed your mind or somethi-"
"it was you this whole time?"
your body froze, a thousand thoughts flooding your mind all at once. how did you miss the fact that it was yamaguchi? he was the only one who could possibly know you so well to pull this off.
the only one who could actually put in so much effort.
seeing yamaguchi nod in answer made your body react before your mind could even fully comprehend the situation; arms wrapping tightly around the boy's figure, head hidden in the crook of his neck. soon enough you could feel his hands creeping around your waist as well, unsure movements as he gently pulled you even closer to him.
"you said you liked guys who can cook well," his words were a faint whisper as he started explaining, the lack of eye contact with you in this very moment helping him properly voice his thoughts. "tsukishima said it was stupid and i should confess to you already because in his words, it's obvious you feel the same way."
"well, he was right about one thing, at least."
you pulled away from the hug, eyes locking with his as your hands made their way to his, gently squeezing them. yamaguchi had no idea what made his face more red at that moment; the fact that you could feel just how shaky his hands were, or the fact that you just admitted to liking him back.
"i've always liked you, tadashi." hearing those words, he thought he was imagining things. and yet, this whole situation was really happening; it wasn't another one of his stupid dreams, another dumb fantasy of his. "you've just given me another reason to do so now."
yamaguchi blinked. once, twice. his body was frozen on the spot, and yet somehow he managed to let a few words out, said so quietly that you almost didn't hear them.
"so, does that mean... you'll go out with me?"
you leaned in, placing a quick kiss on his cheek, and you could swear that you heard him gasp as you did so.
"i would love to."

We are not judging how bad the movie is, we are judging which adapted the book the worst. There are good movies that are bad adaptions.
Propaganda below the cut (spoilers may apply)
The Witcher:
Henry Cavill, mostly. Also awful hair and makeup dept.
What they did to Geralt is straight up character assassination and they destroyed his friendship with Dandelion. I will never stop being bitter
completely disregards the themes the books represent and Anglicizing the eastern european literary traditions present. they cast actors who were a poor fit for the roles and the writers expressing open disdain for the books. there is no point to putting work and effort into adapting a media you hate.
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children:
While Miss Peregrine was one of my favorite books as a kid and incredibly unique in the way the story is written (The author basically took a box of weird antique photographs and created an underlying story behind a handful of them) the movie is incredibly boring. Like seriously I can't remember a single goddamn thing about the movie besides my extreme disappointment with it after leaving the theatres. It's probably because the original is a trilogy but they didn't want to make it a trilogy for the movie so they just scrapped the ending of the first book and rewrote a shitty climax where they threw snowballs at the nightmare child eating creatures or something. I remember THAT scene perfectly because it was so, so dumb. It was so stupid oh my God- ALSO, thank God I have a copy of the book from before the film came out because new copies don't have one of the photographs that the actual book uses as a base anymore and instead have the shitty movie poster! We truly do live in a society.
Changed way too much so it doesn't feel like the same thing. The main characters are these kids with different abilities (called peculiarities) and the movie switches around their powers and changes almost everyone's age. Emma and Olive switch powers so that Emma now floats (they also added that she can kind of control air to some extent) when she's supposed to have fire powers to match her fiery personality. Olive can make fire now and she's also aged up from an eight year old to a teenager and put her in this weird romance with Enoch. Enoch is also aged up from a grumpy thirteen year old to around the same age as Olive. Bronwyn, one of the older kids in the book and sort of a motherly figure to the younger kids, is now one of the youngest kids. Hugh and Fiona are aged down and basically have no interaction at all in the movie, even when their book counterparts had such a good relationship. The only one they didn't really change was Horace and Jacob. They also added these gorgon twins that do like two things. The antagonist in the movie is Mr. Barron who honestly isn't super memorable and isn't in the books whatsoever. The ending of the movie is weird too because they manage to turn back time somehow so Jacob's grandfather isn't dead and then he hops through loops so he can be with Emma and the other peculiars. I guess the problem of wights and hollowgasts is magically eliminated and we do not have to deal with the consequences. It took six books to fix everything. I appreciate that the movie engaged me enough to read the series but once I did, I could not believe they did my kids that dirty.
Yikes where to start. The 3 girl characters are all mixed up. There are 2 teens, one who's super strong and has a brother (I'll get back to him) and one who controls fire and is the love interest named Emma. The third girl is a child called Olive who floats. She's lighter than air.
In the movie, strong girl is the child, olive is now the fire girl and is for some reason super introverted, and Emma the love interest floats and gets given a super breath??? Power?? Like she rises a sunken ship by blowing in and keeps a man blown against a wall by blowing air at him. He makes a remark that she'll run out of breath eventually, which happens here because plot convenience, but not when she's blowing in the sunken ship.
The enemies in the book are terrifying Hollows. Creatures who have lost themselves and devour souls of those with powers... The movie decides they eat eyes now. And turn human again. And get busted up in a fair for the final act of the movie. Ugh.
The movie also decides randomly that time travelling through the loops is a thing; a loop being a pocket of time that replays the same day over and over. But apparently this means Main Character can travel back in time and stop his grandfather dying??? What?? His grandfathers death is the whole start of the movie and motivation for the character.
The movie undermines many of things that made the book amazing and even decides it's not a trilogy anymore!! Fuck the other 2 books, right?!
Tldr; it is terribly hollywood-ised and t tim Burton ruined a franchise by trying too hard to make it quirky and fun when the books already had a brilliant sombre and interesting tone to them.

Do you have a favorite media like anime/manga, tv series/movies, books, video games, etc (if you feel like listing multiple) of all time? Why you love them?
Well, it's pretty tough to pick a fave of all time. (I ended up with 6.5 picks in this case) It varies a lot in my case and it's pretty hard for me to pin down something that I not only like, but liked for a while and will probably keep liking for the foreseeable future. My first thoughts were Naruto or JJK, but in case of Naruto, it is the series I have been a fan of for the longest time, but I wouldn't say I like the story overall much anymore, I'm mostly just obsessed with the Sannin. In case of JJK, I absolutely enjoy writing theories about it and fanfics and to pick apart character dynamics, but I'm not sure how long it will stay with me once it's over.
Thinking about it, I think I'd put it tentatively on the Fave Of All Time list because I could see myself keep coming back to JJK for Kenjaku, Yuuji and Tengen same way I do with the Sannin in Naruto, but I like the story overall more.
A way easier pick for me is Warhammer 40k, primarily the novels and audio dramas. It's just such a rich universe with so many stories you can explore there and authors keep putting out incredible material. There's always something new to find, no matter if comedy or thriller or horror or a mix of all of that and a lot of what I've read will keep haunting me for a long time. I can read hundreds of stories (theoretically, practically there unfortunately exist that many) about the Adeptus Mechanicus and never get tired because that faction just perfectly scratches that horrific sci-fi genderfuck itch in my brain. Definitely a Fave Of All Time.
I think another one would be the American Horror Story franchise. I haven't kept up with it past 1984 and I don't like every single season, but the ones I really like always have something I want to keep coming back to. Not a masterpiece, but a good mix of pulp, horror and interesting concepts that I just can't let go. Pretty much every season, except Freak Show I think, I watched in one day because it always managed to hook me somehow. The opening also used to really freak me out in the beginning, when I started getting into the first season. My favourite seasons are Coven and Apocalypse and they are just something I could watch at any time. I mean, Coven is worth watching for Angela Bassett alone, everything surrounding her only makes it even better. Apocalypse is a controversial pick and I don't like the ending either, but honestly, the way they characterize the Antichrist makes up for it. Reminds me a lot of The Omen II, but more developed. I like the thought that the Antichrist is just a boy with special powers, but who isn't inherently evil, the outside world eventually just pushes him to be. And I think for the most part they did a good job with it. Not all seasons hit for me, but this is definitely something I keep coming back to.
My other picks would all be manga. First one being Urasawa Naoki's Monster. In this case, the anime works just as well because I think some scenes even work better there than in the manga. Johan is one of the few animanga villains that actually gives me chills and the fairy tales in it haunt me to this day. I've actually travelled in the past and visited all the places depicted in the story, just to see how it looks in real life (pretty close to the manga although some places are made up). So far my favourite Urasawa story and I keep rewatching some scenes like JohAnna sending the boy into the red light district quite often because even on their own they are just that good.
Next one is Dorohedoro. I like Hayashida Q's whole style in general. It's messy, gorey, dirty and punk and Dorohedoro shows it best. The mix of silly antics, gore and actual horror is so good and she manages to balance it throughout the story really well. It's one of the few stories where I pretty much like every character. The worldbuilding is fantastic and while it starts out pretty whimsical, the high point of it had me on the edge of my seat. I'm really excited for the new anime season coming out and I'm curious if they will change up their style in any way. I like the style of the anime on its own for the most part, especially the backgrounds look really good, but I think if you don't use hand-drawn frames, it will be very difficult to adapt Hayashida's style and give you that same grunge feeling. There's an extra for the first season that's not made 3D and it looks so much better. The music has always been on point though and the opening and endings as well, so those will be definitely the highlights I'm looking for. Also, great to have more people experience the insanity of Dorohedoro because we're getting to the point now where the story really picks up.
Lastly, there are Houseki no Kuni and Fool Night. Both something I only recently started reading, but they both qualify as those types of stories that just keep blowing your mind. I mean, Phos' character development alone could make me rant for hours. I'm gonna reread hnk at some point from the beginning because I'm pretty sure there are a lot of little hints I missed on my first read and I'm already looking forward to that. The fact that I can reread this story multiple times and take something new out of it each time already makes it qualify for the list. Together with the artstyle it has something ethereal to it and that feeling while reading is another reason I like it so much.
Fool Night is quite similar, except a lot more depressing. Despite that, it isn't a constant downer though. You keep being confronted with problems and injustices quite similar to our world and it only gets worse the deeper you dig, but the characters nonetheless keep up an attitude that change however miniscule is possible and that makes you push on. The artstyle also works perfectly to enhance the atmosphere of the story. The lines can be quite shaky, but with a lot of detail and that makes the whole world in Fool Night feel uneven and distressed, but also incredible tactile and natural like the plants growing everywhere. It just started and there aren't that many chapters in English yet, but it's quite rare that I encounter a story where every single chapter manages to move me, even if it's just by revealing a little bit more about the world building. Honestly, can't recommend it enough.

I knew it! Rashid is Armand. And a theory about The Devil’s Minion.
I knew the flashback scene would end with Daniel seeing “Rashid” - hi Armand! - with Louis in 1973 at the bar!
Don’t @ me about that scene of him walking in front of the window with the sun coming from it. I have ideas, but they are a jumbled mess right now. Plus, I haven’t finished Prince Lestat yet, the book in which Dr. Fareed, who showed up in this episode, made his first appearance in the Vampire Chronicles. (My base theory is it has something to do with the experiments Dr. Fareed is doing on Vampires in that book.)
Ah Louis, you were still with Armand in the 1970s. You’re still with him now. Makes sense, given the updated timeline. And you were living with him again at the start of Prince Lestat as well.
More solidifying my theory that the timeline of the 2022 parts of the show are during Merrick and pre-Prince Lestat IMO.
Oh, and I’m back on the “Devil’s Minion did happen, and that’s also why they are concealing Armand’s identity from Daniel” train.
Theory: After Louis attacks Daniel and leaves him for dead, Daniel made his way to New Orleans to find Lestat. Armand, not trusting that Louis had told Daniel so much about what he - they - were, followed Daniel on his way there. (Armand secretly follows Daniel somewhere. Tracks.) But decided to not kill him when he confronted him.
Also, Armand damn well knows that, if given the choice, Louis would choose Lestat over him. Particularly given what Armand did. Which is a spoiler I won’t say here.
I’ll just say that the fact that Louis stayed with Armand for so long, knowing what Armand did, had me side-eyeing him hard wrt the book. People who only watched the 1994 movie have no idea that Louis and Armand became companions/lovers after what Armand did, because the movie changed it.
But that change isn’t going on here IMO.
Anyway, one of the reasons Armand is even squatting at Lestat’s house in the books when Daniel first finds him in Queen of the Damned, is because Louis left him, stopped being his companion. Remember, in The Vampire Lestat, Lestat remembers Armand coming to him, begging for some way to stop Louis from leaving him. (I can’t remember how long Louis and Armand were together before they broke up, but it was a long time.)
However, in the show, because of the timeline update, by the 1970s, Louis and Armand are still together. So when Daniel runs off to find Lestat, Louis was somehow still mixed up in whatever happened because he and Armand had yet to fully part ways.
Armand doesn’t want to kill Daniel when he catches up to him in the Rue Royal house. He’s still curious like he was in Queen of the Damned. So the cat-and-mouse game starts between them in earnest, like in the original canon. But this time, in this version, it is behind Louis’ back.
At first.
But, Louis figures out what’s going on. And when he does, it’s either at the point when Armand has fallen in love with Daniel or just before he begins to. And either Daniel is openly kept with them for a time, or Louis promises to stay with Armand - because Armand knew Louis was about to leave him soon like he did in the book - if he lets Daniel go.
Louis constantly calls Daniel “our boy” to Rashid/Armand. This just makes me think that is a term they used between them for Daniel for a time. A long time. Why would Louis call Daniel that between him and Rashid/Armand for a guy they supposedly only met once? It has an affection to it when Louis says it, particularly in EP6 IMO.
So yeah, I think one of the reasons Louis is still with Rashid/Armand is that he agreed to stay for a few reasons, Daniel being let go being one of them.
And as I said, the 2014 book, Prince Lestat, opens with Armand and Louis living together (again).
Kinda shocked me when Louis in the show said he would turn Daniel now if he asked. Again, I don’t think Louis’ saying he’d do that for a guy he’d only met once, now twice. Which really makes me lean toward the “Louis, Armand, and Daniel were in some kind of threesome relationship for a time before Daniel was let go” idea.
I mean, turning Daniel means that if Louis really is trying to off himself, he at least would be giving Armand a new companion before he did so.
I said this in a chat to someone: Daniel’s turning - because I think he will become a vampire at some point - will be done as a “gift” to Armand. Who actually does it is going to be the question. Because the reason Armand did it in the books doesn’t exist in the show.
Not unless Daniel gets the book published before the end of Season 2. Which is also the season I’d expect any of these theories to be confirmed or denied. For now, all EP7 is going to do is confirm in full that Rashid is Armand.
And then we’re off.

5 faves from H/D Wireless 2022
I still need to catch up on some of the longer Wireless fics (halfway through Wild Things rn & loving how how it luxuriates in the little details of life), but so in awe of all the talent this year, so wanted to post a rec list before the reveals. I tried to feature some fics that I haven’t seen on others’ rec lists, but that I loved! Somehow, I managed to gravitate towards fics with darker subject matter (and almost all feature disillusioned/depressed post-war Harry), so please mind the tags.
taste you like a drug by @drarryruinedme7 (3.2k, E)
The truth is: I can stop smoking. I’ve done it a couple of times before. I simply don’t want to. I guess Mione’s right, Malfoy’s just the same: I don’t want to quit him.
I loooove a disillusioned Harry post-war & how easily Draco can slot into his life. This fic packs so much into a short wordcount - super hot smut with d/s undertones (plus Harry with a praise kink save me) and a journey into love for both of them.
The Siren and the Sailor by @gracerene (13.5k, E)
"I'm fine," Harry said, and for the first time in years, he meant it. Because right now, Harry wasn't living his life—he was on an adventure.
Another disillusioned post-war Harry, but we get to see a lovely healing journey for him as he comes to terms with wanting to live. Gracerene treats both Harry and Draco so gently & lovingly—I really felt for both of them—but Harry is still so petty & Draco is so sassy. Such a difficult line to walk! Also, despite the tags, I felt the ending of this story was so hopeful. Just lovely.
Staring Into Open Flame by @lumosatnight / @kairennart (25k, E)
“Gads, Potter. Get your grubby hands off me.”
“Tell me. Where were you Thursday night?” Harry slammed Malfoy into the bathroom wall, his wand aimed at Malfoy’s throat.
“Really now, darling. If you wanted to get me alone, all you had to do was ask,” Malfoy rasped.
“I’m going to ask you one more time, Malfoy. Where were you?”
Malfoy’s thin lips curled into a smirk. “Wouldn’t you like to know?”
Or, Harry tries to catch an arsonist, and Malfoy smells like smoke.
This fic & art has it all: mystery, tension, scorching hot smut, humour, tenderness. This fic is so darkly funny—there were so many laugh-out-loud moments for me—but lumosatnight also shows a blossoming tender relationship between Draco & Harry. I also loved the ending, which threaded the needle between hopeful & mysterious. And the art by kairennart!!! What a perfect ending to a wonderful fic.
Open Fire by @slytherco (38k, E)
Once upon a time, in a Death Eater-occupied Britain...
A story about the Second Wizarding War, still going on ten years after the Battle of Hogwarts. While the Light Side struggles to keep evil at bay, those who wish to rid the world of Mixed-Blood Wix roam free, growing in power and persistent in their cruelty. In the meantime, in an undisclosed location, a group of rogue partisans works tirelessly, doing one thing, and one thing only: killing Death Eaters. Things complicate when during one of their raids, the Pack captures an old acquaintance who turns out to be a double agent. He can help them change the course of the War but change isn't something their leader takes in stride, both on the front and in his heart.
An AU based on the movie "Inglourious Basterds”
Another one where you absolutely should mind the tags. This is a wild ride in a post-seventh-book Great Britain that’s torn apart by civil war. I was in awe that slytherco managed to make the characters so different from their canon selves, but still like a logical extension of what how they could be after being at war for ten years. They also built the tension between Harry & Draco so well—the shaving scene! Read if you’re down with something dark and gritty, with prose that throws you right into the inventive premise.
And finally: something everyone has been reccing, BUT the hype is real & I couldn’t not recommend it:
Paper Rings by @lettersbyelise (50k, E)
When Harry’s in need of a divorce lawyer, he has no choice but to turn to the best in the trade. Draco Malfoy’s reputation for discretion is flawless, and his track record for winning cases is close to perfect. But he’s also ruthless, passionate, and as infuriating as ever, and the brief relationship he and Harry had in Eighth Year still feels painfully fresh despite two decades spent apart.
What Harry and Draco used to be is all in the past. And surely they can work together in these new, emotionally charged circumstances without falling in love all over again… can’t they?
The beauty of a really good epilogue-compliant fix is how hopeful it can be - like your life can turn out so differently than you expected at 15 and take unexpected or even unwanted turns and you will be just fine. This fic does SUCH a lovely job showing that. It remains light-hearted, sweet, and gentle, despite dealing with difficult subject matter. Another standout part was the pacing & structure: it can be so hard to deal with a non-linear narrative in a coherent and driven way, and lettersbyelise does it masterfully! Overall, this fic was so lovely & soft & I’m basically feral abt it.
Some other incredible Wireless rec lists that I’ve seen:
@sitp-recs here
@the-starryknight 1, 2, 3, 4
@lettersbyelise 1, 2

every single thing i learn about anne wrt to race is just-
didn't she write blood canticle in the 2000s. writing over 40 years and learning nothing where race is concerned. because i know for a fact she wasn't making a critique of racism
ya blood canticle was published in 03 & it has to be one the funniest books in existence. my insane theory w zero basis in reality for why it ended up the way it did was bc anne rice caught a rap song on the radio somehow and freaked out at the thought of lestat not being in vogue so it spawned lestat suddenly being mr. talk like a gangsta look like an angel here and here only. (anybody reminded of a mr steve harvey ‘think like a lady act like a man’ or is it just me). + it certainly makes some sense for the charas who used the m—— word in the story n in the context of that scene to use it but nobody on god’s green earth should think mrs rice was using these characters as literary devices to discuss the pigmentocracy in the black communities in the us south like hell naw😂😂😂😂😂 at best what the chronicles posit on race in the story is a fixation on the ~exotic~ savage frontiers whether its new orleans thru the narrative of a slaver turned struggle vamp protagonist of interview, or the world these barbies trapieze , with characters like david talbot, gabrielle ‘exploring’ the african ‘frontier’, the legendaric myths of twmbk w/ teshkanmun , marius, pandora, all those og vamps & the underlying, repeated myth in qotd/tobt nall implying mixing ‘’bloods’’’ could end racism. (with the implicit denial of darker skin in this immortal fanci club, as most of the cast r white skinned vamps). like thats prolly as ‘good’ as the books got on race imo over 50 yrs. i dont expect the geriatric white lady writing self indulgent vampires to be king of the black people, we’d be lucky if she was racially conscious even, nor do i expect these immortal evil characters to be racially conscious but the fans tended to have such a fear factor in talking anything outside of their very insular tandom at least b4 the show came out. i rmbr some black creative in 20-21 on twt like made a brief mention on how the fandom that arose out of the iwtv movie + book/s set a precedent for later vampire stories glorifying the antebellum period & they came for that poor soul heavy. and for what?

About the final scene in “The Card Counter”
So i watched the movie last night and came up with a little idea while I was trying to sleep. I recorded a voice note because I was afraid of losing my thoughts in the morning xd.
Ok, in the movie William ends up back in prison because he killed Gordo (his former commander) as a sort of revenge for Cirk (who functioned as an attempt of redemption for his violent past). William tried to set him on a good path free of debt. He wanted to give him a fresh start, a chance of a new life where he could fix his relationship with his mother and be someone in the world. Not just an abused kid.
William didn’t want Cirk to succumb to revenge and the horrors that humans are capable of if given the chance.
William used the road trips from casino to casino as a "controlled environment" that could help Cirk have time to think through his plan thoroughly and realize the consequences of pushing beyond the point of no return.
But in the end William fails, Cirk already made his decision and got killed so now he has to take matters into his own hands. Cirk was the push that prompted William to act on his own desire for revenge (a desire that after 10 years of pondering he chose to set aside, but ended up carrying out).
William turns himself in and returns with the same speech that opens the film.      We see him reading a book quietly, immersed in the routine of this (now eternal) Purgatory. Just at that moment the guard arrives with unexpected news.
William for the first time has a visitor.
He leads the way, waits patiently for the gate to open and also stays in the designated place until the guard opens the door. Perhaps confusion and curiosity mix in his mind, but also some tension for the unexpected.
Who could be on the other side?
Tumblr media
The tension can be noticed as soon as he enters the scene. His eyes go straight to the other side of the glass, William recognizes in a matter of seconds the person in the other side that has not yet appeared on the screen.
His expression remains tense and attentive, as if reading his opponent, trying to decipher them and predict the next move.
Tumblr media
William then exhales and lets his body relax a little
When it is revealed that La Linda is the one visiting him, there is a gentle shift in William, as if somehow, after seeing no threat, he decides to open up and relax his posture a bit. His shoulders drop as he exhales and just keeps looking into her eyes with a slight tilt in his head.
He lays himself in front of her to be judged.
He waits...
Tumblr media
In this scene there is no dialogue, but personally I think in this part William is saying: "Here i am. Now you know me. A part of the real me."
This is relevant if we remember some of their interactions.
Linda was looking to connect somehow with him, to know William's story, but he always answered: "I only play poker" establishing a boundary between his past and this new life in penance.
William always kept his distance. And Linda instead opened the path to form another connection. She told him her own life story, how things were before everything and how she got to where she is now. She recalled some hardships and also good memories.
“It doesn’t matter to me if you did something bad in your past“.- She said in the garden full of lights.
This sentence is challenged at this moment.
It is here where William is forced to show what he is capable of doing: Torture and kill a man in the most brutal way. La Linda may never know about his years as an interrogator, his victims, his photos, his cruelty. But she does know about this homicide and  she must decide what to do next.
Linda has a calm expression, not the usual flashy attitude (obviously it is a different context), but she looks calm, she is also analyzing the situation. In her mind she is trying to understand William's motivations.
She didn't know about his past, she only catched him 4 times in different casinos. She knew he was a gambler with exceptional capabilities that restrained himself and chose to win just enough to get by. He disliked bringing attention to himself. He was a mystery.
He was someone that, after meeting a boy in trouble, chose to change his strategy and help him. Getting into a business with her that he knew could tie him down and plunge him into debt, but he still decided to go through with it, just for the kids sake.
If she researched what happened and paid attention to the news, she could have made the connection between Cirk and Gordon's deaths and understand this desire for revenge of William's side.
For Linda all of it could be summed up that way. It was revenge.
As she looks at this man on the other side of the glass.
In a totally different world.
Tumblr media
But then...
Tumblr media
He smiles at her as if to say:
" You're here....against all odds."
I can't help but remember one of the games William explains to Cirk in the diner, before revealing to the younger man his own memories as an interrogator and the tortures he subjected the prisoners to, this time with no images, just his voice recounting the horrors.
“ Now there’s only a card that gets Goldy out .Theres a 2% chance The River will call the 7 of diamonds. Alex has a 98% chances of winning.
He makes a sucking sound...And he goes all in.
Alex calls.
Now: The River.
7 of diamonds. Straight flush beats the full house. Goldy wins “
Against who was William playing? his past? his guilty conscience?.
All of these events were part of a big game, William decided to get involved to make 1 act that would make a difference, his chance for redemption.
While he will NEVER EVER be able to erase the damage done to others, this little aid to young Cirk  will be a small gesture he can live with.
His victims and their families will never forgive him or any of those involved, for the harm they’ve done. There is nothing he can do to repay them, this redemption game only works for his own benefit, to quiet his mind and tell himself that despite everything he still has some humanity in him.
That he is still capable of making a gesture for the benefit of someone else.
But even when he lost and ended up in the exact same place, there is only one card left that can save him.
The change happens in a single second, Linda exhales and blinks only once before deciding to approach.
Now her gaze has become much warmer.
Tumblr media
Linda makes a decision and reachs out to him.
A single finger
There is an interesting difference here:  Linda has accessories but most of her hand is covered, representing the civilian world, the world of gambling and connections with thousands of people in contrast to William, who instead wears a uniform of sober colors and his hand is completely uncovered.
William is isolated from the world, carrying the weight of his decisions.
Perhaps he’s also a bit calmer now, since he has come to terms with his past, managing to destroy the one who was mainly responsible for 1) his descent into hell (i’m not condoning his actions, he willingly kept working and descending into brutality) and 2) The one who wiped out William’s chance of redeem himself.
The pose is also important: Linda's finger points upwards, a more direct and confident approach, the gesture of her hand reminiscent of someone pointing the way, the hand seems more closed-off.
Or pointing at William, recognizing him for the first time in depth and accepting him.
William's hand trembles and takes a little time to reach, the gesture of his hand reminds of someone  trying to reach something after crawling for too long.
Perhaps recognizing in Linda a warm hope that will be a support for whatever is to come. William is trying to reach her
This support has a fragile foundation and William is not assured that it will last forever, but at least he is no longer alone.
Tumblr media
It is not a open hand pressing against the glass, as we see in other montages of friends/couples/family visiting a loved one in jail.
The full palm indicates a high level of trust, a "we have nothing to hide" an "I understand you".
Here it is just a finger, it is a somewhat unsure attempt, it is the first step.
This is the first truth that unites them.
And so they remain
In silence
Connected
Tumblr media
so you hollow yourself in the mercy of man
you just need something to find your way home
and a spire of dreams are the finest of things
you just need someone to carry you home (carry you home)

Hey! Not related to your story but rather to your native language. Do you’ve got any tips for learning Spanish in a (possible) fast way? Any sites or recommendations for learning techniques? Anything that makes it easier.
That would help me a lot. Gracias 🙏
Related to my previous ask. Any tips how to learn the right pronunciation?
For efficiency's sake, I piled both asks into the same one, haha.
In all honesty... learning a new language is kind of particular to each person. Some people respond to some methods, some to others. The most popular current method to learn a new language is Duolingo, I have parents who are unhealthily hooked on it (?) (okay but for real, they keep going to war with total strangers to stay in the top 3 of the diamond league or something?? who'd have thought my parents would join anything that feels like a battle royale game... certainly not me!). But for some people, it might be easier to take a proper class with human instructors rather than a green owl (?)
Personally, I learned English extremely early in life, which made it so I picked it up and never really put it down. The great, sophisticated method through which I learned... was watching TV in English as a little kid :'D I couldn't watch Disney shows in Spanish because we only had access to the USA Disney channel in my youth, therefore, if I wanted to enjoy my cartoons and my animated movies, I had to figure out wtf anyone was saying, and through a mix of asking my parents and my older sisters what each word meant, I somehow started picking it up a lot more than I ever realized I had.
This might sound a little impossible for you now since, yes, kids pick up languages faster than adults, and better, usually, since it becomes kind of instinctive to them. But it's not completely pointless advice: while I'm a HUGE advocate for watching TV shows in the original language they were created... I suggest that you watch shows dubbed in Spanish. Whether Latin American or European Spanish, you pick whichever accent and style you prefer, haha. But watch TV shows or movies, whether produced in Latin American countries or in Spain, or simply dubbed, and you'll be practicing while having fun! Put on subtitles while you're still not confident in your knowledge, it's wild how that actually helps you pick up words and meanings without your awareness. In this case, I bring up my years of experience being the weaboo I proudly was: I can understand a lot more Japanese than I realized simply because I've been watching anime in Japanese with subtitles since I was 11-years-old. That certainly helps in making certain things click in your head without your awareness. It's so real that when my mom started watching K-dramas, and made me watch them with her, I took to picking up a few simple elements of Korean structure, some basic words, obviously not enough to pretend I actually know/understand Korean, but enough that I was surprised to find that, with zero intent to learn the language, I still picked up a thing or two by instinct!
The other major advice is basically the same thing but a little more sophisticated and deliberate: read a book translated to Spanish. Preferably, a book you already know by heart. Find a translated version of any books you're really attached to... and keep your English copy nearby, too. If something is confusing? Take your English copy and find the same scene. Use a dictionary too in case you're confused about the exact meaning of the words. But when you're revisiting something familiar in another language, you pick up a lot of things, sometimes intentionally, sometimes not so intentionally.
I don't know if I had other ideas on how to help beyond taking a class or so, but for now, I think this should be a good starting point and my best advice based on my own experiences learning other languages. So... good luck! Hope you learn plenty! :D

- Kiss Me Once, Kiss Me Twice by @harriblou on AO3
“You’re a fucking brat, you know that,” Harry muttered through clenched teeth, bones already burning with the pure desire and hatred mixing in his body. It was an intoxicating rush of adrenaline and something else that probably came with fucking Louis Tomlinson. He squeezed his neck just a little tighter. “I can’t stand it.”
Their lips were brushing against each other, just moving with the ragged movements of their mouths and harsh breathing.
“You’re a lying piece of shit dickhead,” Louis muttered right back. That was all he did, challenge and nag. He loved to have the last word and Harry let him because he used all his energy to fuck him mindless.

Harry is a 'born-lucky' immortal, happily coasting through life as he finds himself back in Burlington, Vermont. His life has been full of fun and excitement, but he lost his one great love three hundred years ago in New Orleans.
He never anticipated a reunion with his lost love in a Trader Joes, until he comes face to face with a very angry and apparently, very immortal Louis.

It shouldn’t be a surprise, the first time that Louis drops to his knees in front of Harry. It shouldn’t be, because it’s been something that Louis has needed for a long time. It shouldn’t be, because he’s been crawling out of his skin for weeks on end. It shouldn’t be, because Harry always makes him feel better. It shouldn’t be, because he’s needed this even when he didn’t know that he needed it.
Somehow, it still is.

“Nope, not when you smell like her” Harry answers.

Green reblogged an old photo of himself. It was from back in October, a Halloween special. A pulse shot all the way through Louis because this photo was his absolute favourite, and it had taken the rest of the year for him to wean himself off of it.
Green was on his knees, arms stretched out in front of him with his fingertips digging into the surface of his bed. He was wearing a pair of cat ears on his head, his curls falling forward. His back was arched, and in the foreground of the picture, Green’s bum was high in the air, a long, black cat tail sitting neatly between his cheeks.

SCREAM 6- 2023 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
GHOSTFACE TAKES MANHATTAN!
Absolutely loved Scream 6.
The Core Four move from Woodsboro to New York City to go to college and ghostface isnt far behind them.
The opening was inventive and fresh. Samara Weaving was great. The moment ghostface took his mask off really shocked me. I thought maybe this was a stab movie or something. Then ghostface calls him and he becomes the victim. I didnt understand why until later in the film but really liked all this.
Also a great Friday the 13th 8 nod with that on the tv.
The New York setting was brilliant and a breath of fresh air. Absolutely love Woodsboro but was nice to mix it up. The scene in the convenience store was so cool. Ghostface with a shotgun! ❤️
Ghostface in general was really scary in this. Really vicious kills and a lot less clumsy than he usually is. Scream 6 had some really tense moments and chase sequences. The ladder kill was absolutely terrifying.
As for the characters....
Tumblr media
Just as Scream 2022 did. This film gives plenty of screen time to newer characters before introducing any of the legacy cast.
I think it really worked here and set up a lot for the film. Tara and Sams relationship was very well written. Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega were both amazing. So happy to have them as the centre of these movies. Both very likable.
Chad and Mindy were great. Chads relationships with Tara was sweet and Scream 6 confirms Mindy is Randy (Meeks). Just as her uncle Randy used to do she is the horror buff who gets to to explain the updated rules. And does it very well. Although i think her haircut is probably the worst Scream haircut since Gale in Scream 3.
I was very happy they brought Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) back again through Sams thoughts. Love Sams conversations with him. Its hilarious that he is always trying to convince her to become a serial killer like him but he also watches out for her. Theyve found the perfect way to bring Billy back and should continue to do so for as long as Sam is around.
Now as for his boyfriend Stu, he was mentioned to be dead and then Mindy said:
"If you believe hes dead".
This is all i need to hear to continue holding out hope for him to still be alive and the next killer...
Other returning characters were Roger L Jackson as the iconic voice of ghostface.
Tumblr media
Courteney Cox returns as Gale Weathers. Despite saying she wouldnt write a book about the last movie she does anyway. This leads to one of the best moments of the film when Sam tries to punch Gale. Gale ducks it only to be punched moments later by Tara. Hilarious. Somehow this is also the first time she has talked to Ghostface on the phone. Her putting him on hold had me laughing. That whole scene was great, Gale is badass and put up a great fight. I was genuinely surprised she survived, i thought she was going to die for sure.
She is also now the only person to appear on screen in every Scream movie.
Neve Campbell declined to return over a salary dispute sadly. The film mentions Sidney, shes alive and well and has taken Mark and the kids somewhere safe.
I did miss seeing Sid as shes my favourite final girl ever, but the film was so good that the story didnt need her to work. Glad shes still alive though in that universe so we can bring her back. Pay Neve Campbell anything she wants she deserves it.
Also returning was Kirby (Hayden Panettiere). Everyones favourite character from Scream 4 was brought back from the dead and now works for the FBI. She took a special interest in the ghostface killings naturally and helps them solve the case. Great idea bringing her back. Shes a great legacy character, had good chemistry with the new gang and would love to see more of her.
As for the killers....
Tumblr media
Really liked their motive. Its Richies family. They explain they killed the film student wannabes at the start after they got everything they needed from them.
This is a great nod to the killers motives in Scream 2 which this film parallels in many ways. The most obvious of which being they go to college (the frats and sororities even have the same names as in Scream 2).
Richies family out for revenge is like Debbie Salt and the guys killed at the start are like Mickey.
Good stuff.
This is now the most killers ever to be in a Scream film which was interesting. Even if you dont count the guys at the start, three is a record.
The double knife clean from the dual ghostfaces was perfect. Out of the kids i much preffered Quinn. I thought Quinn was really great when we saw her earlier and i didnt see the twist coming that she was still alive. Her brother seemed completely boring to me during the film. Showed a lot more personality when he was revealed as a killer though to be fair. I thought Dermot Mulroney was good but the bit where he called and warned Sam about Kirby being the killer sadly was a dead give away. Its obviously not Kirby so therefore was him. I thought the three killers was really interesting. They all had brilliant deaths i thought. Love that Sam resists being a killer but when she does get to stab someone she stabs them 100 times.
Also loved the way this movie pays tribute to every previous Scream film and not just the original. Great to see underated killers like Roman Bridger get some props. The ghostface museum filled with all the previous killers costumes and other props was absolutely incredible.
Tumblr media
After seeing this on Wednesday for the first time i was annoyed to hear there is a post credits scene that i missed. Went back yesterday and rewatched it and stayed til the end.
Its a five second clip of Mindy saying:
"Not every film needs a post credits scene".
Now theres only one thing i had a problem with.
I didnt have an issue with no main characters dying. This is rare for a Scream film but you can do it every now and again as long as get some in the next sequel. With Dewey dead and Sidney unavailable, we are running fairly short of Legacy characters so im glad Gale and Kirby lived.
I love the Core Four so glad they all lived. But for gods sake you have to sell the stab wounds a bit more. Chad got stabbed like a million times, its fine for him to survive the film but make it seem believable, there is no way someone could live through that.
Mindy was even worse. Stabbed twice directly im the guts. So less than Chad, but not only did she survive but she was running around unphased 30 minutes later with the explanation that they gave her strong drugs? I absolutely loved the subway stabbing scene so will give it a pass. Very creepy and loved all the iconic horror costumes people had.
Tumblr media
Scream 6 has topped the box office with an opening weekend of 44million plus domestically making it the best debut for any Scream film ever. Its been getting rave reviews from fans and critics and currently stands at a 7.4 on imdb. With all that happening its all but guaranteed we will have another Scream movie on the way before long.
What a time to be alive.
Directed by Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli Olpin.

We are not judging how bad the movie is, we are judging which adapted the book the worst. There are good movies that are bad adaptions.
Propaganda below the cut (spoilers may apply)
Fahrenheit 451:
The attempt to modernize the story to include the internet really didn’t work. Neither did replacing the book people painstakingly preserving knowledge with dumb technobabble about rewriting a bird’s DNA to include the text of every book ever written. Worst of all was what they did to Clarisse McClellan; turning her from a blithe spirit who inspires Montag to be a better person into a traitor selling out the book people. They also aged her up to make her a love interest for Montag because of course they did.
Okay so I don't remember the plots that well since I only watched the movie once in middle school BUT I do remember how VISCERALLY ANGRY the movie made me feel. For one, they didn't stick to the plot of the book AT ALL. The movie killed the protag, Guy Montag, at the end, when he got to live and rebuild society in the book. In addition, there was a character, Clarisse McClellan, who was a teenage girl (and possibly a daughter figure to Montag) in the books, but then was aged up to be Montag's LOVE INTEREST in the movie, which felt incredibly gross to me. There are probably other things that I'm missing, but these are the two that I remember.
The original book is a perfect example of what happens when you suppress the written word. It focused less on the relationship with humans and technology and more on the freedom of press access. In a world only a few books are allowed, that would also mean only a few ideas would be.
Now I’m talking about the modern movie by HBO. The wife is gone, who stood as an amazing parallel to Guy Montag’s thoughts of her just being okay with living in her dystopia while Guy questioned it. The girl is now a love interested, while in the book she was there to help Montag explore his worldview more. Also, books was more about censorship than human’s relationship with technology. Yes there are themes of it. But the movie makes Montag into a social media star.
Speaking of Clarisse (the girl), she’s a traitor to the resistance in the movie, she tells Montag where the books of the old lady are. It’s the resistance against a world where free speech is limited. And the old lady goes “heres the code word” *sets herself on fire* while in the book after the books are set ablaze she just burns with them.
the books are also in the DNA of a bird.
Like what the fuck is this movie Fahrenheit 451 is an A-B type of story! If it ain’t broke. Don’t fix it
