((just ranting abt writing fanfics you can ignore me lmao. I'm just in a weird place atm but I'm feeling kinda passionate abt writing rn so I'm gonna vent

originally I wrote a lil of this in the tags but then decided to just chuck it under a readmore so people aren't subjected to it against their will. then it got really long.

I'm not actually expecting anyone to read this im just sorta venting to myself. it helps me get my thoughts sorted if I write them down. I can also look back through my #.vat file tag in a few years from now and hopefully be like "wow I'm doing so much better than THAT now", so if that's the case, hi future Vatta! so, I haven't been online much bc I've just been in a weird limbo lately and I'm really busy when I'm at home either sorting stuff out or, with my PDA, doing anything I can to avoid my responsibilities lmao

I've been rereading my Tokyo ghoul light novels (I only have Void and Days ? I think they're called), rewatching Zankyou no Terror, and Bungou Stray Dogs (plus the live action Beast film which was? hilarious but I don't think it was supposed to be), and just suffering lmao

I've been locked out of the systems at work for a bit, but I still need to be there and wait for the IT ticket to be sorted, so I've gotta be at my desk, cant have my phone or anything, so instead of sitting there doing nothing, I've either been reading, doing codeword puzzles, or I've been writing up 'drafts' for potential fanfics.

in this year of our sufferer 2024. I've been writing up some self indulgent homestuck college AU lmao. I've written over 60 sides of a5, (not inc the inbetween sections where I wrote some stuff on the chromebook at home) some notes, some accidental first draft, bc I wanted something to take up the time. but my handwriting is terrible, I don't write fast enough for my brain, I have a lil dyslexia so the letters and words get jumbled sometimes, and I have this weird thing where I don't do spaces right. but I've been trying to upload it to Google docs with Bixby's photo text extraction. it's pretty good considering how bad my writing is, then I just need to go through and touch it up, the main issues are things like names, there's some letters I do weird like my v turns into an r, or every p it thinks is a capital, but overall. amazing how technology do that.

(see my long ass rambling isn't just confined to venting. I also pretend to write actual things. you can still leave you know. I'm not holding you hostage until you read all this. you have free will)

can't remember how I ended up back in fanfic hell but I read back through like all my old published fics (aside from the cringe ones I orphaned) and the writing isn't terrible. I don't think I actually finished any of them though, which really shows my true nature lmao,,, but I've picked up a few things on my writing style now. and I've got a few things I see other people do that I wanna avoid bc I personally don't like it, and it's mostly about balance, like using names too often/not enough, being too descriptive like All The Time and making the writing really nice, but not much happens in the story so you take like an hour to read each scene, vs not enough description so everything is happening but you don't really get a visual or a breather to appreciate what's happened so far. I've been working on finding my right balance, which is imo easier if you're writing fanfic bc first up you hardly ever have to describe the characters. if someone's reading it they already know who they are. and for scenes you can take some inspo from the source material. does the original work put alot of effort into setting a cool scene? if not, then you don't have to either! if it's 90% scenery then you've gotta do it too I don't make the rules

I'm losing steam now I'm so sleepy and I've gotta go to work in a bit ugh.

I've been thinking about trying out writing some BSD fics but on an anonym not linked to my main Ao3, bc the themes are doozys and I kinda just wanna have the freedom of anonymity. also I'm a baby and if someone publicly criticises my stuff without it being a requested critique then it makes me bleh (I've had a few comments in the past of just general negatives, not even constructive feedback, not that I asked for any anyway...), but the abilities are tricky to write for, so it's effort lol

anyway I'm gonna stop now ive gotta get ready for work

starting with gem!! god i love her earrings i wish they had fit in the final piece 😭😭 the skirt i tried to go for a little bit of that polish embroidered flowers look? it looked a lot better w the original design but unfortunately the rest kinda looked bad lol.. um okay so also she has like. a LOT of jewelry in this one mainly on her horns but that just didnt make it in

for pearl im actually really happy with the design and how she actually turned out, unfortunately the fishnets just didnt make it in 😔also i forget who but i ABSOLUTELY stole the crescent highlight hair from someone its just such a pretty touch

for the actual AU i was kinda gonna go with a sci-fi, neon, cyberpunk-y vibe and have them be like magical space explorers but then i looked back at your request again and realized that the like urban fantasy works WAYYY better with their designs and characters etc. the one thing that carried over was gem's general outfit shape, which is why she ended up sliiiightly more futuristic-looking

new girl au rants cuz im weak n stupid

okay! so yk that apartment schmidt moved into across the hall? thats jules, kat, maddy and cassies apartment now! and the loft is taken over by our lovelies—lexi, rue, fez & ash.

i want lexi to be a struggling actor, going to college for fine arts, she’ll have this part time job working as a teachers assistant, i think. might change that. i want her to move into the apartment the same way jess did, except she’s gonna have rue with her instead of being alone and just going through a breakup. maybe i’ll have her go through a breakup? just for drama!

rue works from home, a writer, maybe? im not sure for her yet. in this universe they don’t know fez or ash or anyone else really, just grew up with each other, moved to LA together (probably bc suze & leslie felt a lot more comfortable with forever anxious and paranoid always on the verge of a breakdown lexi & former drug addict rue to be together, and also cuz theyr besties!) for college and never ended up moving back. cassie also followed for a ‘fresh start’ and met jules & kat & maddy n all of them. mutual friend & resident party animal BB comes by once n a while to deposit booze & trash the place with a banger before disappearing for another few weeks or days and then does it again, like a boss bitch.

fez & ash will run their business outta the loft, except for the fact that fez is gone a lot at night for parties and shit, usually leaving the teenage angst ash alone with lexi and rue (mostly lexi, bc rue likes to tag along with fez—and lexi trusts her now, enough not to follow.) and like. lexi makes them watch fixer upper and shit and ash is forever pissed he misses the walking dead reruns bc she wanted to watch houses get ransacked and slapped with a pretty stick.

grandma marie takes the spare bedroom in the back. they have a list of contacts in the fridge fez says to ‘give a call, hit em’ up’ if they’re ever in a bind or some kind of trouble. fez never, ever brings back work to the loft bc ‘its not fair to them, they jus’ need a place to stay—‘ and the brothers are slowy weaning off the drug dealing scene, anyway. hence the need for roommates. i want fez to work at a bar, like nick, obvi.

At some point i want to follow the fake dating trope—yk, they get invited to a wedding and lexi needs a date cuz she doesn’t want to look stupid and rue is going with jules so she enlists new bestie & sort of crush fez to take her in his fancy lil caddy and snazzy suit like the darling he is! maybe i’ll make the wedding cassies? she’s sort of cece in this situation, anyway. i think it’llbe funny if like at some point suze has to crash at the loft for the wedding and she makes everything hella awkward and ash is hovering in the background watching lexi argue with her ma like 😶‍🌫️

i also think it woukd be fun to have them play true american? but like instead of the boys teaching them its lexi and rue inviting all the girls over and teaching fez & ash the game they made up when they were teens. i think they’ll be in their mid twenties, 24-26–ish, so ash’ll literally be twenty one but for the sake of the teenage angst get up he’s sixteen going on seventeen! leave me alone! Ash does go to highschool, only bc i think its funny that lexi gets to be his teacher’s assistant and she like reports back to fez the drama ash has going around at school.

i’ll have faye come stay with them around the time lexi tries to get in the dating scene and rue is like!!! bitcch!!!fez!!! for some drama and stuff, but they end up being besties dw abt it. lexi does get a little heartbroken doe cuz she rly likes fez but doesn’t wanna intrude? also fez forgets to tell them that faye has a mf bf, so rue stomps in his room LIVID and is liek YOU LED HE RON MFFCKER—and hes like. wtf r u talking abt….

also i want lexi to get to put on a play about her teenage years sometime during this period too, except this time fez gets to come & custers a dead bitch. i think i am going to follow some canon episodes of ng just bc they have such good ones that would fit the euphoria context—(jules & rue run off to mexico and rue gets arrested for stealing a wrist band off a kid and running from the security staff, jules drives home and has to wrangle all rue’s roomates into helping get her out, etc,) & i jus love them sm. so

i just ???? he's a tragic character, yeah, but. that's not a trait that's exactly out of his control? well. it is, in the sense that the whole [TERRIBLE BACKSTORY] thing inflicted upon him the world's most irritating case of "stubbornness" ever. the whole thing is he could accept help. he could be like "yo" and trust the PTs, but that would. never happen (plus the chance of him even making it out of his situation WITH their help is still considerably low). [getting their help would also count as “admitting weakness” or whatever anime bullshit he would start to lose his shit over, which is . a whole thing]

his circumstances essentially pushed him into this one-way road to what is practically a glorified suicide. and he's not budging from it. NOOO WAY is he gonna change any of it. because that would mean, in his mind, that everything he's done for the past few years was for nothing. couple that with the fact that there's no way goro thinks he deserves to be forgiven....he's GONE LOL.

A quick explanation of public forum (pf) debate: two teams of two take a pro and con stance on a resolution. (Example: Resolved: Sugawara is not the mom friend) Debaters work in pairs to make a pro and con case that they will present at their debate, for PF they usually have a month to prep their case. The case will usually be written in the style of an essay and will be read out as a speech to begin the debate. Debaters work in pairs so there's a speaker one and speaker two. Speaker one is in charge of laying out the topic and what grounds the team wins the debate on, and speaker two dishes out most of the arguments against the other sides. (Kind of like speaker one is defense while speaker two is offense) Basically pro gives their opening speech, con gives their opening speech, and the they ask each other questions and try to degrade the other side's case. Then the speaker twos give speeches on why their speaker one did better, then they butt heads. After that comes the speaker ones saying why they won, and finally comes the ultimate showdown, the final crossfire. The final crossfire is essentially just a big cat fight where we yell each other about morals. (Sorry Amanda but murder is worse than kidnapping 🙄) Then the speaker twos give a speech about why they're better. Your fate relies on the judge who has no idea what they're doing.

Did you get all of that? You probably didn't. TLDR: Four children scream about why their moral compass is better for about one hour.

So you decide to bring him to your practice debates, during a normal debate you move around from classroom to classroom debating other kids from other schools carrying your case in a big ass box in stuffy casual formal wear at like 8 in the morning.

Practice debates are a lot chiller and there's a lot less yelling.

You were judging debates that day while the gym was having an inspection so he tagged along with you to watch the debates. He kinda gets lost after the con speech and you're like "yeah it can be like that sometimes".

He admires you for being able to do the whole debate thing (and win)

Since the winners of any debate comp are decided by judges (who usually have no experience) most teams value process over result. Even if you debate better they can still pick the other team because of a dumb reason like them liking the other team's shirt.

After every debate he takes you out to get snacks at Ukai's store, and he lets you rant about whatever unfair judge caused you to loose.

"oKAY BUT LIKE I TOTALLY WON, THE OTHER TEAM DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THEIR CASE TOGETHER" he just kinda smiles and nods, he doesn't get your debate terms but he still hypes you up

He makes sure to text you before he sleeps reminding you to not stay up too late researching your case.

Smth like 'i'm going to bed now :) pls don't stay up too late' smh hypocrite, he probably stays up till like 3 thinking abt becoming the tiny giant

One time your debate clothes (black dress pants, white dress shirt, blazer) got dirty and so did your school uniform so he gave you his clothes. He's kinda small so it's a tight fit but it works.

Now we all know that Suga is pretty smart, he's not a super genius or anything but he's got good grades and he can probably manage his time.

Which means that he's good at helping your research and revise your case. Whenever you can't come up with any contentions he's always there to help you come up with some.

You guys are sprawled out on his bed just scrolling through resources trying to put together a case.

You go to all of his games and he goes to support you during your debates. Before every speech you give he sends you a small thumbs up to boost your spirits.

He's super observant and can tell when the judge is full of shit.

here's the thing with yachi, she's great at writing cases and she'd honestly be a good asset to the team however,,,

she can't do public speaking for shit

so she cheers you on from the sidelines and helps you out with your case

she can't really do public speaking herself because of her nerves but she knows how to convince an audience so she lets you practice her speeches

she once volunteered to help the team for a mock debate by subbing in for someone who couldn't make practice that day due to getting sick, she got scared during her speech and panicked.

weekly study dates are a must, whether it be for debate or just school in general weekly study dates at a local café or at a library

she brought hinata and yams to watch you debate once and now they're both scared of you (look final crossfire is scary as hell)

i think she'd be a (slightly less than) decent cook bUT she's good at baking, so she always offers to stop by before practice to drop off snacks

the team loves her and half of them join the yachi protection squad (started by noya and tanaka probably)

It wouldn’t really be possible to do Peyton without the clip since it has a part of the hair going up into the clip. okay so like. its not even that big of a deal but ok so this one dude (lets call him z dude) i work w hes nice but like. i could TELL hes been acting weird arnd me like. niceness wise like kinda in the way someone does when they like u or whatever right ._. WELL so i have a class with him on mondays (& the rest is online) and then me him and another girl we work w go get lunch together and so last monday (i posted abt it so some of yall mightve seen it) i was like. poking fun at him and his response would be to poke my side and my immediate responde was like dont touch me but he didnt hear bc he tried to a few more times and im 🙂

and so ever since that ive been rlly distancing myself from him and he texts me abt our class sometimes and ill only reply once before leaving him on read for the messages after that and so. sometimes i see the girl we get lunch w after my gender studies class and i saw her on friday snd i was like hey! :) and she was like hey!! and i asked if she was working sunday (aka today) and she said yeah i think i took [z dude]’s shift and i was like neat and she was like whats going on with u and him anyways and i was like... and so like im rlly nervous now and if he tries to do shit im just gonna flatout be like im not interested at all bc im not and its been making me so uncomfortable and feel like. gross like having him and esp someone of his age potentially thinking abt me romantically and i could TELL by the way he interacted w me and the way he texts and im . and ik the girl coworker said she thinks she took his shift but i HATE how im so nervous to go to work and see him there like WHAT IF HES THERE... im there for 7 hours tonight like I CSNT DO THAT and im trying so hard to find plans on monday after class so i wont have to spend a second alone w him im :) and i went to target w my friends yesterday to look at bathing suits and i was wearing a hat AND huge sunglasses and he was there and i was avoiding that area so bad and he better not pull any shit at ALL i dont wanna be put in this podition bc we work together like. all the time bc our availabilities r similar and hes so much older than me it makes me feel so gross and uncomfortable i was like Ah yes ill freak it i hate men and im never being nice to a man again
