I’m surprised none of the Madrigals learned sign language so they could say shit without Dolores hearing.

Can I please ask for some headcanons for Bruno with a female reader who has dimples and thinks his powers are the coolest thing EVER
Bruno x female reader with dimples and a strong fascination with his power coming right up!
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Okay, so for this scenario, I'd like to think that you're just a bit younger than Bruno, most likely still in you forties, and you've only just moved to Encanto about 3 years before the movie.
You immediately captivated by the Madrigals, as anyone would be and probably was if they lived in Encanto. It was just like one of the many fantasy books you had read growing up, and it really brought out your inner child to say the least.
You were the local baker, and you had to make several deliveries to the Madrigal house for certain celebrations, as poor Julieta couldn't be left to handle all the cooking on her own. You quickly befriended her and Pepa over a shared love of cooking, and by happenstance, you began to bond with the rest of the Madrigal family.
You, of course, became friends with Felix and Agustin, as any friend of their wives was a friend of theirs.
You were considered to be a "cool aunt" figure to the older girls, giving them helpful advice and letting them borrow whatever they needed from you, as long as they promised to keep out of trouble.
You listened to Dolores as she went on about her crush on a young man in town, and helped Luisa relax when she overworked herself too much.
You gave Isabel hair tips and let her vent to you whenever she needed somebody to talk do who didn't see her as "Senorita Perfecta."
With the younger kids, you'd hype up Camilo's acting skills and shape-shifting, often sitting through the one-man shows he would frequently put on. You noticed fairly quickly that the boy was very drawn to Shakespeare.
You didn't judge Mirabel or see her as less impressive than the rest of her family, but rather, you praised her for her astounding sewing skills, and even taught her how to crochet from time to time.
And little Antonio, sweet baby Antonio... well, when Pepa needed a break to collect herself or just a night to spend with Felix, you took the burden off of Dolores's shoulders and offered to watch him yourself, growing quite attached to the young boy.
Soon, you were practically living in the Madrigal house, and yet, for the three years you had been close with the family, you never heard anything about the black sheep of the family... Bruno Madrigal.
Yes, of course you knew of him; Pepa mentioned him when discussing her wedding day with Felix, and Abuela Madrigal had told you that for your own safety, you were not to go into Bruno's tower. You never really asked for more details on Bruno, a. Because it was a touchy subject in the Casita and b. He was never really brought up enough for you to really sit and wonder about it.
However, when you finally did meet him in helping the Madrigals rebuild their Casita, that excitement and wonder came back immediately.
I mean, you knew about his gift, but just like the general consensus of "Oh, he could see the future." You were just as clueless as Mirabel, as you had no idea the visions were actually physical tablets or that he had his own VISION CAVE?!
Despite your excitement, though, you tried really hard not to act like you were only interested in his power, because you weren't. You were curious as to what he was like and what his relationships with the other Madrigals were and just exactly what he was up to over the last decade.
You'd be lining if you didn't think he was cute too but that's beyond the point.
Everyday when you came over to the Madrigal Casita, you would always take some time to talk to Bruno, with the excuse of "Oh, I had extra hand pies and I thought you deserved to try some of baking yourself!"
He talked about his interests in theater and his rats and what his life was like before he disappeared. You talked about your time in Encanto and your baking and your love of romance novels and plays.
And well. Of course you fell for him.
And Bruno couldn't help but fall for you, too.
Okay, so this would definitely sound creepy out of context, but Bruno really first saw you the first time you visited the Madrigal house. He grew to accept you like the rest of the Madrigal family, even if you never directly interacted with him, and slowly got to know you through overhearing your conversations with the rest of the family.
He loved the way you were able to comfort Pepa during her mood swings, and just how helpful you were with Julieta when she had too much on her plate (teehee pun).
He loved the way you interact with his older nieces, supporting them in a way he wished he had been when he was their age.
And he just thought your encouragement and love for the littler ones was just so sweet and admirable.
And, well, he really, really liked you.
Once he caught Dolores in the kitchen in the middle of the night, delivering him some tea, and he managed to ask if you were married, to which Dolores shrugged, and said "she's never mentioned a husband."
"Hmm... by the way this is uh... the rats speaking... still."
He came to find out when he finally left the walls of his house that you were in fact very much so single, and he was over the moon.
The more and more active he became in the Encanto community again, the more and more time he spent with you.
You'd two frequently go for walks together, either through Encanto or just outside of the mountain range.
He'll start coming to your bakery, too, and you'll even let him taste test the batter before you bake it.
Eventually, the two of you are inseparable, and even though you aren't official, many of the people around town just assume you're a couple.
It leads to some awkward moments, but neither you nor Bruno seems really bothered when people make the mistake.
It's when you finally have to guts to ask about his power that you two make it official.
After months of wanting to ask about his power and tip-toeing carefully around the subject as best you could, finally managed to ask how his gift worked.
He, of course, groaned, explaining it hesitantly, but as soon as you asked him to demonstrate, he quickly made all of the troubles that came with having a gift like his apparent.
"-and look, why would I even want to murder a goldfish!? what would I gain from killing a-"
"Bruno! Calm down... I'm not going to judge you because of your power. I know who you are, and I know that you and your gift are two separate things. I won't judge you because of your gift."
Bruno looked down to the ground and gave a heavy sigh, slowly blinking as he thought it over. Finally, after a long while of silent deliberation, he gave you a soft smile and stood up.
"Alright then. I'll show you."
And so, off the two of you went to his room, which, in comparison to the old Casita, was much more lively and had a lot less stairs. Once you arrived in his vision gave, he set everything up that he needed to and sat with you in a circle of sand.
You swore when he started his gift, you could barely turn away from his glowing green eyes. They were mesmerizing, and you would've asked for a vision anyways if it only meant you could see his eyes.
Around you, the sand showed a vision of you, traveling through the world. Your past. Then it showed you arriving in Encanto, meeting all of the Madrigals until you finally stopped at Bruno. The image of you froze, staring at Bruno until she reached out to embrace him, with Bruno hesitantly returning it.
And with that, the vision ended and the cave echoed with your high-pitch squeal.
Bruno smiled brightly as you gave such an excited reaction, admittedly a little flustered due to what the vision showed, but overall more focused on your reaction.
And when he saw how wide your smile was and how cute your dimples were when you did, he didn't even care anymore.
With a quick flash, you embraced Bruno, pulling him close to your chest and smiling, holding him tight.
"That was so cool, Bruno, thank you for showing me! It was even more impressive than I thought."
You pulled away for a moment, and looked into his big, now brown eyes. You blushed slightly.
"And about what I saw in the vision-"
"No, no, I get it! It's weird that I may like you a bit and it's even weirder that a vision showed it, but please don't think you have to-"
You interrupted him with a kiss on the cheek, cupping his face gently as you softly asked,
"Would you like to have dinner together?"

who are you ?
NAME: Poppy! STAR SIGN: Aries HEIGHT: 5′8-9″???/ like 175cms. I think? MIDDLE NAME: We’ll say it’s Poppy lmao
PUT YOUR SPOTIFY ON SHUFFLE. FIRST 6 SONGS?
1. Young Folks - Peter Bjorn and John 2. Burned Out - Dodie 3. Lover is Childlike - The Low Anthem 4. Siobhan - The Tossers 5. Moan - Cute is What We Aim For 6. Ooh La La - Faces
EVER HAD A POEM / SONG WRITTEN ABOUT YOU? A couple songs and poems, but I’m dating a musician so it comes with the territory.
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU PLAYED AIR GUITAR? I do this sort of thing pretty frequently I guess? I’m horrible at understanding music terms so I’m always like “Oh, I like that bit that goes: doo, doo doo, doo” and pretend to play it on the guitar when explaining. Does that count??
WHO IS YOUR CELEBRITY CRUSH? I always have a hard time answering this but I do think Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne Moss are two of them (thank u Matrix rewatch for reawakening my love for them). But, my celeb crushes are fickle SO.
WHAT’S A SOUND YOU HATE & A SOUND YOU LOVE? I hate a lot of sounds when I’m overstimulated, but I do hate those cars that have an obnoxiously loud bass. The ones that drive by and shake the whole building you’re in. Give you a momentary, blinding headache. I love farming noises, like listening to farm animals and all their little noises (chickens and ducks, in particular). Also the swooshing of wind through tall grass or trees, rain on a tin roof. I’m meant to be a hermit living in the middle of nowhere, clearly...
DO YOU BELIEVE IN GHOSTS? Not in the typical sense, I guess? Like I swear I had my friend visit me as a hummingbird after she passed, but I don’t think it was a ghost/spirit/what have you, so much as energy hanging around.
HOW ABOUT ALIENS? Like, forms of life on other planets/galaxies? Most definitely. The universe is so big and there are other galaxies that have the same chance for life that we had here on Earth to evolve and such.
DO YOU DRIVE? I do!!
IF SO, HAVE YOU EVER CRASHED? no, thank goodness. I’ve definitely almost gotten into many crashes because people drive SO fast for no reason.
WHAT WAS THE LAST BOOK YOU READ? I’m reading Watchmen and also finally got to Wano for my OP reread. The last one I finished was one on Viking Myths.
DO YOU LIKE THE SMELL OF GASOLINE? Yes uwu
WHAT WAS THE LAST MOVIE YOU SAW? Finally watched Encanto the other night!!
WHAT’S THE WORST INJURY YOU’VE EVER HAD? I split my head open when I was probably five or six after I fell right into the corner of the coffee table. I still have a little scar.
DO YOU HAVE ANY OBSESSIONS RIGHT NOW? Wordle, my beloved <3 Seriously though: I have an outreach coming up for work on Sunday and it’s pirate themed so y’all know what’s about to happen.  Otherwise, I mean (probably) obviously, OP, since I’ve been reading it and writing it. Shanks’ backstory is something I’m truly obsessing over and enjoying because I’ve constantly been adding/adjusting things. We’ll see if I ever feel done enough with it to get any form of it out.
DO YOU TEND TO HOLD GRUDGES? I mean not in like a ‘stay angry about it’ way, but I definitely don’t forget when people mistreat me. I tend to let go of things pretty easily if I have the opportunity to talk things over with people.
IN A RELATIONSHIP? Yup!
tagged. @muselexum (muah <3) tagging. anyone who wants to and hasn’t been tagged?? this has been floating around for a couple of days i think

following up on the last Tuco/Angel Eyes scene
Keeping in well with your former lovers is, Tuco's gathered, supposed to be odd behaviour, though he's never really been sure why.
You always might run into each other again; and where Blondie prefers to burn his bridges and start fresh, he'd rather stay on good enough terms to snag a warm bed or at least a sandwich if he needed one.
(It's caused friction a couple of times, when they've parted ways temporarily to try their luck. He'll come back from a frivolous, slapdash night and a pancake breakfast to find Blondie sore and peevish, and honestly he tries not to tell his partner how to play this, but it seems a waste. Not to say worrisome. All that bondage with complete strangers.)
Keeping in touch with your lover's ex, now, even he has to admit that's odd; but he'd gotten on real well with Penny. Well enough he might have tried a go himself, if not for a few small vitally important details. Him not giving a fig about light aircraft, her all-consuming passion. Her not being terribly interested in men, which had made more sense than not for a San Fransisco transplant who dresses the way she does. Okay for a fling, they weren’t real suited to anything serious.
They keep in touch, though. When he's able to get together the money for the long-distance phone call. ("I hate getting letters, I feel like I have to respond and I don't enjoy writing them. Phones are much better, if one of us gets bored we just hang up."
Ha. He might have tried harder to brush up on aeronautics, at that.)
"Penny? Hola, remember me?"
"Oh, heya honey! It's been ages since I heard from you, how are things getting on?"
"Fine, fine. Would you believe, I'm sneaking away from my millionaire lover to talk to you?"
A laugh, a proper laugh. No nervous giggling for her, Penny's a big woman. "I would not. You'd be playing it too careful, to risk a stunt like that unless you were pretty sure you had 'em hooked."
She's got him there. "Yeah, okay. We're in the swankiest hotel I ever did see, wrecking sheets and ordering more room service than even I can handle. He's having a little nap. Life's pretty sweet, I'll tell you that."
"Not bad, not bad. Boy, girl? Neither?"
"Oh, he's got a mustache that he thinks puts mine to shame. It doesn't, mind you."
"Even if it did you wouldn't admit it, you shameless encanto." (He'd taught her maybe a dozen words of Spanish, and she enjoys dropping them into conversations too much but hey, it's more than Blondie does.) "So what, is this you saying you're riding off into the sunset? Finally dumped the nightmare movie machine?"
"...not like that," Tuco says, chuckling. "It's kinky. Angel's one of those guys who likes it both ways at once."
(Okay, so he's making that up. Whatever. He's drunk and happy enough to float and Penny knows him well enough, not to take him too seriously in a chirpy mood like this- and say, maybe Angel Eyes would go for that. Worth trying whenever Blondie gets back, who knows?)
"Wowzie- nice. Don't let him blow it for you- wait, that’s not what I meant- oh damn.”
It takes a while, before either of them can stop laughing.
"I won't." (He won't.) "Took a while before he was willing to crack open the purse strings, but Dios mío! Now that he is, we're having such a blowout. Crazy clothes, filet mignon, the works- you know, it turns out that mignon is just bacon-wrapped steak? He even offered to buy me a new pack, but you can guess I said no to that."
"Well, make the most of it. If it turns out this is his idea of a farewell present, make sure you've milked all the goodies you can out of it first."
"Trust me, I'm way ahead of you. Saw my chance at this watch shop, a second-hand Rolex. Good enough I can wear it with him, bad enough I could get rid of it pretty easy if I needed to- but hey, I'm being selfish. How's it going with Bernadette, is she still busy breaking your heart?"
"No- no, she's not. I told her to go, actually. Life's too short, to put up with someone who thinks you're just a side attraction."
"Uh-huh. You want I should be sorry? Or proud of you?"
"Fuck you. I'll be proud of myself, thank you very much....no, it's been rough. But I'm holding it together, you know I am. And work's been great, we finally swapped out the clunker for a Learjet. If she isn't the sweetest bird to ever hit tarmac..."
Tuco nods and keeps up an amused succession of Yes and Oh and Si, senorita for the next ten minutes, while Penny blathers. She does this, she can't help it, but he doesn't mind for once in a way. They know how to let each other monologue.
It's so good. It's everything he ever wanted, the price is one he's more than willing to pay, and the only cloud on the horizon is that this is one bed and two of them and the only way he's gonna be able to tell Blondie he didn't lay hands on Angel Eyes, is if Angel does it first. Jeez, he doesn't feel like waiting any longer once this phone call's over. Forget going out for dinner, they can just get down to business right here-
"-hang on a second," Tuco says. "Somebody's knocking."
He's not really sure what that's about. If it's Baker again he'll slam the door right in the man's face.
"Stop," Angel Eyes says, suddenly sharp and hard in a discomfiting fashion. It only takes Tuco a moment to catch on, though; the hotel might be discreet, but if this is someone who Angel knows, that could get awkward. He rolls off the bed, grunts a little as he tucks himself out of sight.
Footsteps. The click of a door handle.
"Did you miss me?"
"Blondie!"
Tuco all but knocks Angel over, in his rush to the door; and just barely has the presence of mind to drag Blondie inside before hugging his partner tight. The time away hasn't done him one bit of good, he's filthy and obviously hasn't changed shirts in a while, but it doesn't matter. Angel evidently doesn't care either; he shoves his way in without so much as a word, black gloves everywhere and groping very eagerly.
"Ooof. I'll take that as a yes."
"Damn straight," Angel Eyes says. There's a slightly dangerous edge in his tone, that puts a sick feeling in Tuco's stomach. He doesn't want this to be awkward, not when everything was going so nice-
"Oh, I forgot! There's a phone call for you, Blondie- well, I called her first but never mind. It's Penny."
"Why on earth would you call her?"
"Cos I said we were all three fucking," Tuco says promptly.
That speechless silence that greets the statement, this is exactly what puts him off ever trying to tell the truth.

Weekly Media Roundup
-Encanto (Movie) - Watched this with my family over the holidays and really enjoyed it! Been listening to the soundtrack a lot, lot’s of bangers. The theme of how damaging it can be for children to be labeled as gifted both for the “gifted” children feeling the pressure of high expectations and the “non-gifted” children in feeling lesser than their peers really hit, and I feel is a pretty relevant moral for the time. Their is some stuff that you really need to suspend your belief for, but overall I was super impressed by the visuals and how creative they got in the song sequences, top tier.
-Pokémon Sword (Video Game) - Got this for Christmas and have almost played through the whole game + post game at ~40 hours, meaning its a good 20 hours shorter than my usual Pokémon games. While I definitely enjoyed the experience and was impressed by a lot of the new Pokemon/character/city designs, the game was way too short and straightforward. The plots of Pokemon games normally aren't the best anyway but you really felt it here with how little conflict there was until the last second. With how little they let you explore the world felt very small, and I’m a bit disappointed with that. I guess it’s not the worst when your biggest complaint is “there should have been more” though, and looks like Pokemon Legends: Arceus might fix that.
-Link Click (Anime) - Binged this before the years end as I saw it on quite a few “anime of the year” contender lists and was interested in the art style. I wouldn’t go as far as saying its in the top of the year myself, as I do think it had some structural issues and really could have benefited from letting the central three characters have some more relationship-establishing screen time, but I did enjoy the odd time travel rules and the basics of the leads dynamic. The finale was a pretty solid hook too, so I’ll definitely watch the 2nd season when it comes out, but I hope it will delve a bit deeper into the leads relationship as all I’ve got right now is “closeted albino psychic introvert develops gay crush on the first moron extrovert to speak to him”.
-JJBA: Stone Ocean (Anime) - Caught up with Stone Ocean pretty quickly. It’s Jojo, so as expected it’s very bizarre and fun, though I’m surprised with how shockingly competent everyone in the cast has been so far. Like normally we’d have a lot more idiots running around and goofing off but so far things have been pretty focused and intense, it’s a little strange. On one hand it does mean that I’ve liked most of the characters so far as they're all pretty reasonable, but on the other I kind of miss some of that stupid humor.
-Blue Period (Anime) - Now this is an anime of the year contender for me, Just a super motivational story with stunning artwork and an adorable protagonist that manages to tell a fairly straightforward story in a really compelling way. If you like creating art I would definitely recommend it as I've so rarely seen a series that makes me think “This makes me want to create” quite like this one. I really hope this get’s approved for a second season but even on it’s own it’s a solid story.
-Yu Yu Hakusho (Anime)- Throwback time at Anime night, it’s kind of funny watching this old school shonen now and seeing tropes that are exclusively played for laughs now being used earnestly. Namely the “One character fights to the death while their friends stand by and commentate while making no effort to help” one, which is hilarious. Finally got to the point where all four main boys (and Botan) are working together, so looking forward to some fun banter.
-Yotsuba&! (Manga) - After a century a new Yotsuba book has dropped so I made the effort to reread the series. Being mostly visual in nature it didn’t take too long. I really have nothing but good things to say about this, I love how quirky and fun but in a very realistic way all the character are, the humor is top tier, and Koiwai is one of the best fictional dads I’ve ever seen. The “single dad with a small child” genre is weirdly dense with a lot of solid competition, but in terms of sheer quality I think this one is still the best.
-19 Days (Webcomic) - ooh boy oooh boy Things sure are happening woof.
-The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles (Video Game) - Yup Still Obsessed.
Listening to: Encanto OST (Especially We Don’t Talk About Bruno and Surface Pressure), When You Love Someone by James TW, Bad Habits by Ed Sheeran, Go Tonight (Mad Ones OST), Spirit OST, I’m Shipping Up to Boston by Dropkick Murphys, Dive Back In Time by Raayo, Shake It Out by Florence + The Machine
