Okay, but buck is such a passenger princess. Like every time we see clegan in the car together, bucky is always the one driving. But john doesn't hate it. In fact, he loves it. Just drivibg around base, and gale is sitting their so pretty he js has to parade him around everywhere they go. had a dream I had a boyfriend and he wanted to come to a therapy session to talk abt smn unrelated to our relationship (this was 100% cool with me) but my therapist instantly hated him and she was like "justify to me why you're here 🤨🤨🤨 name something u like abt ridley and then maybe ill let u talk" like what 😭😭 it was just me being a mediator bc they were arguing. Which is insane it was like couples therapy but evil

If L met the wammy boys do you think he would like them? My unpopular opinion is that he would probably find them annoying

I'm not sure! I don't think he thinks about them even remotely as much as people would like to pretend—I think he's largely ambivalent towards them. Not particularly fond of them but not disdaining them either. My own personal headcanon is that L was closer with the first gen of successors: A and B (a possible C notwithstanding). But after the tragedy of A that lead to B's downfall, I think L purposefully stopped giving a shit about any of the Wammy kids. Self-preservation and all that, you know?

Now, having said that, in Another Note we see that L has spoken to Mello alone at least once. We don't know whether it was before Near, after Near, before Kira, after Kira, whatever—which would add on some telling factors to that interaction, but I digress. My own unpopular opinion here is that this means that L would've eventually chosen Mello as his successor. For several reasons, but chief of mine being that L just liked Mello better. I also think that would've been the easier choice for everyone involved, again for multiple reasons.

I think L would be mildly annoyed by all the Wammy kids tbh. Just because they're kids and he's an adult who doesn't seem like he'd be good with children. That, and the fact that they're fighting for a name that they'll never truly earn instead of making a name for themselves on their own merit.

(To that end, are we,,,,,sure that Matt was in the successor program? Is it specifically said anywhere in canon? Because it would make more sense if it was more of a 'two at a time' deal than a free-for-all for all the Wammy kids to participate in. Then again that might just be 'two/three at a time', which would include Matt, but again. L is very secretive. I don't think he'd be telling his every secret to every kid that showed interest in becoming the next Great Detective.)

ANYWAY. TLDR; I think children would annoy him in any fashion they came in and his arrogance would do the rest, but despite all of that he would've chosen Mello as a successor because out of everyone else Mello was the only one he seemed to show a personal interest in ✨ Sorry for the tangents my brain goes off 🙏

im going to write a paper on this but the more time i have spent reevaluating my selfhood as i move into this new and unique period of my life the less i feel satisfied with the gender labels i have used prior and the more i have spent considering what gender actually means to me personally. i am perfectly happy moving through the world as a mirror figure for others to project ideas of gender onto, as i dont care much about gender as it relates to me but find it endlessly fascinating outside of myself, but after being asked point-blank ive found my previous explanations are no longer relevant to this version of me. i have spent a long time and employed various terminology throughout my short life to attempt to communicate the simultaneous alienation from and connection-through-alienation to womanhood occurring within me, but ive never been able to find a pre-existing label that identifies the root of my alienation, because it is, obviously, this intensely personal thing; any microlabel with a corresponding flag would be useless, because my gender is myself.

so im not attempting to coin a microlabel here, and i dont want a flag, but ive been moving steadily closer to a reclamation of “hysterical”, as i feel that my relationship to the social position of woman has been corroded over the years by an outside “ungirling” done to me in various ways due to pathologized mental state and developmental disability. i dont feel that i can meaningfully separate my experiences in psychiatry from my experiences in gender, and i have no current interest in trying. i dont know if i comfortably identify as “woman” without the adjective “hysterical”, and i dont believe the cisgender label describes me accurately for various reasons, some related to this, but “hysterical” is where i’m at for now.

I think the actual core emotion I associate with "love" is basically identical to the core emotion of "infatuation." There's like a strengthening of emotional context that happens over the course of a relationship; you become more familiar to one another, more confident in your mutual affection, etc, and in that sense the early and later stages of romance definitely feel qualitatively different. But like the core affection and desire doesn't seem to change quality in my experience. It's the same thing, just with more confidence and less anxiety. And like, I suppose using "infatuation" to refer to the early stages of that process and "love" to refer to the later ones is a distinction that's about as real as words can have any claim to be, but to call them different emotions entirely doesn't feel correct to me. If I'm crushing on you, I love you, just not with a lot of confidence or familiarity
