i wonder if alex’s laryngitis will prevent them from playing new setlist additions tomorrow….like would he have even been able to rehearse??? can he just go out and play a song they haven’t played in years, or a song they haven’t played live at all, without rehearsing?? obviously his health comes first and i don’t want him to push himself just for this…i’m relieved he seems to have recovered enough to play glasto at all…i just can’t help but wonder if we might not get surprises they might have originally planned

it’s not about a potentially queer role being taken by a potentially straight person. it’s not even about the role at all. the community wasn’t made to police straight people. it was made to protect queer people.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

I, a hearing person who likes subtitles just as a preference, shouldn't have to read a subtitle that's obvious nonsense, go back a couple seconds, and listen again in order to figure out what's going on. An accessibility feature should not be the most half-assed part of a professionally made production. Scripted media has absolutely no excuse for not having subtitles or having subtitles that aren't perfectly verbatim. Professional captioning services should be ashamed of the shoddy work that they put out. Captions should be treated as a part of the production, just like filming, editing, audio balancing, etc - and anything that releases with missing or bad captions should be seen as unfinished

The only kinds of bits that I'll ever actively harp on are ones that are actively detrimental to someone's subjective enjoyment of a thing. Like, sure, go ahead, do this thing that is deeply suboptimal. Are you enjoying it? Yes? Good, keep doing it! No? Well, here's an alternative.
What I don't get is when someone is committed to a bit that's actively impeding their own enjoyment by their own admission. Like, refusing to do something on principle, and then you find out it's because that principle is "It's too casual and easy and fun and I'm a SERIOUS Gamer™"
I have this one friend who moved home worlds in Final Fantasy 14 to Dynamis, a new data center with a low population. Queueing for content there takes literally hours for even just basic daily roulettes, when you can get the same in minutes by just using an inbuilt world-visit system that will take a few minutes at most. They refuse to queue on more active data centers, citing "commitment to the bit" as their only reason for it. Like, homie, pal, friend, sibling in The Crystal's Light™, you're only making things harder for yourself. Nobody is impressed, nobody is having fun, and you're in my DMs complaining that you've been sitting in queue two hours for a leveling roulette. You did this to yourself.
Your suffering is not noble. There are solutions. You could enjoy the thing you're trying to enjoy more. Is the bit really more enjoyable to you than actually playing the game? Do you enjoy complaining so much that you'd rather talk about how awful things are than to spend three minutes making things better for yourself?
Yeah? You do like suffering that much? The bit is still worth it to you? Okay, carry on. But I'm going to keep giving you the solutions that you're literally asking me for every time because that's the only time I'll ever be anything approaching a "straight man" in my life.

I will say I get the vibe that a lot of peoples interest and support for strikers is a bit too much for a vicarious ‘burn it down’ thrill, rather than for the actual goals of a strike.
Like UPS has agreed to come back to the table and it is very possible they will concede to Union demands and avert a strike. And if that happens (so long as the union does not make concessions on its key demands) it’s a good thing. It’s a victory for the laborers. It is the same ultimate conclusion that a strike would intend to produce except without the workers having to go on (not so great) strike pay for a week or two.

To illustrate this post by @mayahawkse I would like to visualize to you the difference:
A post in 2023:
A post in 2014:
A zoom out of the same post:
This is what a community looks like.
See how in 2023 almost all of the reblogs come from the OP, from their few hours/days in the tag search. Meanwhile in 2014 the % of reblogs from OP is insignificant, because most of the reblogs come from the reblogs within the fandom, within the micro-communities formed there. You didn't need to rely on tags, or search, or being featured. Because the community took care of you, made sure to pass the work between themselves and onto their blog and exposed their followers to it. It kept works alive for years.
It's not JUST the reblog/like ratio that causing this issue, it's the type of interaction people have. They're content with scrolling and liking the search engine, instead of actually having a reblogging relationship with other blogs in their community.
Anyways, if you want to see more content you like, the only true way to make it happen is to reblog it. Likes do not forward content in no way but making OP feel nice. Reblogs on the other hand make content eternal. They make it relevant, they make it exist outside of a fickle tumblr search that hardly works on the best of days.
If you want more of something, reblog it.

Shipping is fun and all but I swear every single time someone makes a comment, whether as a joke or in a legitimate analysis, about there being "no other explanation" for a pair's interactions, I lose just a bit more of my sanity
Like, no, you guys don't get it. Romance is not about the Amount of devotion, it's about the COLOR. the FLAVOR of it all. a character can be just as devoted to their platonic friend as they are to their romantic partner, and they don't love either of them more, just differently.
But because the majority of people still have it stuck in their minds that romance exists on the highest tier of love, I'm stuck seeing endless takes that boil down to "these two care about each other too much for it to NOT be romantic" as if that's the core determining factor to how literally any of this works
In conclusion: stop telling me that I don't understand the story if I don't interpret the leads as romantic, I am TIRED
