Spoilers for chung jin (my love </3)

One thing that i will never get over is when that gang is bringing back chung jins skeleton, Chung myung makes it a point to travel as fast as possible UNTIL they get to Mount hua. Once they get there he makes everyone slow down and climb the mountain as if it was their first time climbing it again. Chung myung purposely climbs mount hua slow as if his return with Chung Jin is a funeral precession. Honestly to Chung myung, it probably was. Yes, there was a whole ceremony for Chung Jin after they get back to the sect, but I think that this climb was Chung myungs own personal way to say "you're back, you're home." to the sajae he had grown up with and lost.

And god don't get me started on the sunsets. If it's true that it was from Chung myungs influence that Chung jins love for sunsets grew, then I need to be shot. Chung myungs climbs, dedicated and slow, but stops to watch the sunset. He's carrying js sajaes skeleton on his back, and he stops to watch the sunset. He repeats the words spoken to him to his kids, saying that there's not a more beautiful sight than a sunset over mount hua.

And the fact that Chung myung buries Chung Jin on a cliff so he can watch over both the current diciples AND the sunsets?? God it makes me sick. Both of the things held deep in his heart. He is able to watch over both of them, because of Chung myung. Who knew his sajae so throughly that he knew that he'd want to be buried in a place over watching the sect instead of in the traditional ancestral burial grounds. Chung myung, who probably begged and pleased with the elders to bury him there, to negate tradition. The elders, who saw the depths of Chung myungs grief and allowed him to do so. For what is stronger than a brothers love?

You’ve been spot on with everything so far, including her jet being tracked like the NORAD Santa tracker, so any guesses for what transpires post Super Bowl?

I said it was pretty obvious, and it was.

Well, we’re entering a transition phase, so I would never say I can guess anything very far in advance. But similarly to how it all became really clear in November where things were going, I feel like I can make a pretty good guess at what I think we’ll see next. The main caveat being that she is unpredictable and there are a million things I can’t know. But I think we have seen that her and his schedules are easy to see and are set in stone, so it makes predicting things easier that it was from say 2019-early 2023. And none of the below is mind blowingly novel. This is exactly what everyone expects to happen:

I think most likely after he takes a week or so✅, he’ll head to her shows in Australia✅. Probably Sydney✅ for a couple of shows. Then he’ll head home to his offseason routine✅, whatever that looks like. He’s gotta go find those abs with his trainer and shoot some commercials etc. Then she’ll be back and I think she’ll join him wherever that is (possibly Florida with his trainer, that idea was already put out into the universe.) Her next tour break will be their first opportunity to really spend a lot of time together while they’re both off✅. So her jet will park where he is and they’ll make occasional appearances there. He will also probably be seen in her spots (NYC, Nash, LA✅.) Then she’s off to Europe and his offseason/preseason work begins in full. I don’t think she has any real time off at all during the Europe leg so she probably won’t come home but I think he’ll head over there for a couple of shows, probably early on. If he’s allowed with camp and stuff he may try to make it to a London show, an important market for him to be seen in (for his post football A-list movie star future or whatever it is he has in mind.). But I’m not sure it can be swung. Then she’s off again in time for his early games, but then she’s back on the road again and he’ll probably have a bye week where he can go to a show. And then she’s done with tour just in time for her birthday, the holidays and the road to the playoffs/playoffs and engagement season. So really great timing all around. Then it’ll be time for TS11 full of songs everyone will attribute to him, and joe and maybe a bit of Matty. I’m really looking forward to a song about how Travis is a love that is really something, not the idea of something. And maybe he’ll retire. But that is so far away. Look at what happened unexpectedly in the last year. So no bets here, just stating obvious thinking. And even if all this does happen, there will be other things I can’t predict.

Alternatively, if their goal is to end it sooner, that April to June timeframe is probably the best time. After they’ve spent quiet time together and found they have nothing to talk about and then their busy schedules make it too hard. That gives enough time to make it feel plausible that it wasn’t fake and only going to last until the SB. But I think they’ll give it another season, because it’s working so well and all the timing for her tour lines up super well. And it’s clear that for whatever reason, she’s allergic to being single.

Atsushi hadn’t intended to find himself pinned up against a wall with Akutagawa glaring into his face on his afternoon off from the agency, yet here he was.

Technically their bosses weren’t fighting right now, and Atsushi had been minding his own business picking up a few items since he had the free time, so he wasn’t sure why one of the Port Mafia’s top dogs – let alone Akutagawa himself – was taking a moment to harass him, but honestly, he was used to it at this point.

“Would you let me go?” he sighed, glancing down at his bag of groceries. “My ice cream is going to melt. It’s a hundred degrees out here. How are you still wearing that coat in this heat?”

Akutagawa scoffed, but stepped back all the same. “You’re awfully lax, were-tiger. Who’s to say I’m not here to capture you?”

“We’re not fighting.”

“Officially.”

Atsushi narrowed his eyes. “And unofficially?”

“I’m off the clock. Perhaps I just want to fight you because I can. Clearly you need practice keeping your guard up, even when you’re buying…” he glanced into the bag on the ground. “Orange sherbet. Really, were-tiger?”

“Hey, don’t judge me,” Atsushi grumbled. He reached for the bag, but Akutagawa snatched up his wrist and pinned it to the wall by his head, glaring again. “Let go, Akutagawa. I don’t want to fight you.”

“That’s disappointing.”

Fine. If the man really wanted it so bad, Atsushi would throw a punch. Just one. Or rather, a kick, as his dominant hand was currently occupied.

Akutagawa stopped his attempted assault before he could even extend his leg fully, grabbing him by the knee and gripping hard to stop him.

Atsushi squeaked and shot his leg back down, an involuntary smile splitting his face before he managed to get it back under control.

There was silence for a moment.

“Were-tiger, are you…?” Akutagawa started, but trailed off when Atsushi snapped wide eyes up to him worriedly. He paused. Then he reached his free hand into his rival’s exposed side. “You are. How fascinating.”

“Ah! Ahahaha – Akutagawa, wahahahait, I—!” Atsushi bit his lip, frantically trying to keep traitorous giggles at bay. He hated how the darker man was looking at him now. It was a curious look, and the last thing he wanted was for the Port Mafia to renew their curiosity about him.

Akutagawa hummed, letting go of his wrist to scribble both hands into Atsushi’s underarms, watching him squeak and clamp his arms down with a wicked glint in his eyes. “This is enough to bring you to your knees? If’ I’d known that, you’d have been dead already, were-tiger. Perhaps it’s lucky for you that I didn’t.”

“W-Why is it luhuhuhuhucky?!” Atsushi cried, squirming uselessly against the wall, his ice cream long forgotten. “Ahahahaha! S-Stohohohop!”

“Would you rather be dead?” Akutagawa smirked. He took a step closer so he was right up in the other boy’s giggling face. “More importantly, now that I do know, it means I can exploit this little weakness of yours as much as I like until such time as our factions begin fighting again in earnest.”

Atsushi whined and cackled and pushed at Akutagawa, trying to dislodge him somehow, but he knew it was useless with as weakened as he’d become in the last minute.

It took a while for the Port Mafia member to finally leave him be.

It took even longer for Atsushi to wonder if Akutagawa was ticklish, too.

A loud and bold individual with a strong sense of justice. A boy with no restraint despite his parents and circumstances.

Appearance and Personality

Alastair is oh-so loud. He’s so so loud it’s a problem sometimes, even. It’s a trained skill for him to keep his mouth shut for longer than ten seconds around other people—at least he’s able to filter what he says? Sort of? He’s got a good heart, at least.

Not that one could tell at first glance. He takes after Dheginsea’s monstrous height, reaching a bit taller than the short dad (I say, knowing Valter is much taller than I, the mun)—Valter has a problem with this. He does not say so. Stacked on top of that height, he likes to pack on muscles—Alastair may not be an actual laguz, but he likes the idea of using his bare fists to fight all the same. Heroic!

The child was spared the baldness genes though it seems—though, perhaps just for now? Changes what he does with his hair daily since he can’t make up his mind. At the very minimum, during fights, he knows how to keep it out of his face.

His brand on his left shoulder, which oddly enough stays covered most of the time! Though some folks suspect he might be branded (tbh, he looks a lot like the royal dragons [shrug]), his presence is usually intimidating enough that no one tries anything—or, you know, if they find out he’s kind, that only makes them all the more afraid! Loud little (big) gremlin.

Definitely the type of guy to wrestle wyverns for fun. Would also probably suplex Valter if that dad would stay in place long enough to get slammed.

History

The type of kid to get into a lot of fights when he was young! Very headstrong type of person who didn’t understand the complexities of courts and castles and whatnot: good is good and bad is bad, right? Just act accordingly!

This went well hand-in-hand with his parents being generally protective of him—branded and whatnot. Aside from just wanting to be strong to do good, he wanted to ease the load off of them a bit; make it so he’s able to hold his own. He also ends up being pretty protective of those who are important to him: he’s super blunt about it though. I don’t know what else to tell you.

Combat

Fist-fighter all the way! It might not be the smartest decision, but he’s all for throwing himself head-first into battle and punching his way through! His parents don’t know how he wound up like this.

Aside from straight-up brawling though, he’s also an axe type of guy—Valter tried once to make him a lance user, but Alastair… was not very interested in doing anything more than swinging around a weapon with no rhyme or reason. Fights pretty darn good though—with an axe. And his fists.

Good for him, though! He did not inherit the ‘I like hurting people’ gene! I think it might’ve canceled out with the ‘I want to protect people’ part and then there were some leftovers. Still gets enthralled by battle, but Al’s more interested in the adrenaline rush than actually inflicting pain on his opponents. So long as he wins, that’s all that matters!

Summary

He’s an oddly intuitive individual—trusts his gut and doesn’t tend to be wrong! Alastair likes to do what he can to help people, though he generally prefers manual labor and knocking about some louts to the sort of tasks that require thinking. Gets along well with folks who aren’t out to get him—who would’ve guessed?—but he’s also stubborn in his judgments of people. Once he forms an opinion of you, it’s hard to change—good or bad.

The map where you recruit him would have him engaging with a group of bandits all by himself—secondary to the main objective of the map. Whether you help him out or not doesn’t change much and he’s actually able to manage himself well! Makes good use of his terrain and knows how to avoid biting off more than he can chew. Actually recruiting him is very easy though: have any allied unit talk to him and the conversation will end up with him having a positive opinion of them. Or it’s negative and he joins you to keep an eye on that person. There’s no in between.

Unique dialogue against both parents, of course, though only Valter would counter (Valter is a menace; I asked Wild about Dheginsea). Would feel bad about attacking them, especially since he finds it hard to believe they’re bad people—part of that unwavering opinion thing combined with the fact that they are his family—but what must be done must be done, and he’d rather put in the hard work and effort than leave it to somebody else. Call it one final spar, hm?

Also as a bonus! The chibi where I designed him + a domesticated Valter for height reference (Valter is 6'0 flat).
