Tavtash leaves such a sour taste in my mouth. Like they could have had durgetash but they were too set on playing a manic pixie dream girl who is super sweet and lovely except that oh yeah she's fucking a mass murderer and a slaver

You know what's really funny to me?

I wrote a 5000 word rant about disliking Tavtash, and I think Tavs in general ruined the story of Baldur's Gate, but then I deleted it. Because people here just want me to fuel their Durgetash/Gortash thirst by making the funnies and the angsties.

They don't care to read things that challenge their viewpoints, offer a strong negative opinion, or encourage them to think critically.

And I know people wouldn't agree with it. Ultimately, that's why I delete a lot of rants. I come here so people can stroke my ego. I don't generally come here to start fights, because that simply bores me.

So it's just comedic to me that I get this anon, right as I deleted that post.

Because I'm glad someone understands.

You're like the stereotypical 90s love interests who are "nice girls" but also inexplicably dating a dude who knocks a kid in a wheelchair down the stairs. How the fuck can you be "nice" and compassionate, while the dude you're fucking is a sociopathic felon?

Durgetash works for TWO reasons.

Reason 1: They are both fucking awful, and we all know it. Them torturing and ruining each other is a tragic romance with broken teeth, and we enjoy the low moan of a dying animal, tearing itself apart in distress. They start evil, they end evil. Evil horny bastard sex. Tavtash could never be so demented.

Don't jump into bed with Enver Gortash if you intend to keep your hands clean either.

Reason 2: The Dark Urge was given a second chance, even though they didn't deserve it, and took it. They were given the opportunity to fix their mistakes in game. Gortash doesn't get that. The romance is in the tragedy of, he could never be saved. And you cannot save him, even as you save the rest of the world. You grow, and he stays behind.

The romance is in the longing and the yearning for something that is no longer there. The camaraderie of two lonely people...who were separated, and never ever came back together again. It's also about how you were born evil, but chose redemption, while he was born innocent, but chose damnation. Durgetash operates well on this level because it's always equality of opposites. It is character development, mirrored. And it's fascinating to consider.

And what does Tavtash have going on?

It's someone Gortash just met who has something he wants, who may or may not want to kill him but he's desperate enough to throw his eggs in that particular basket. And on Tav's side, it's weird because it's like omg.

I just met him, and he ruined my life, he put a fucking tadpole in my head, and I'm close to becoming a mindless monster without any free will, something he DIRECTLY did to me and my loved ones -

But I still think he's hot.

Hm. ok. that might be amusing if there wasn't a better precursor for a relationship sitting right there beneath you. rotting in Orin's dungeon.

I won't deny, Durgetash might be absolutely nuts - but it will never be as nuts as Tavtash.

But anyway. You didn't hear that from me.

Invincible S2 E5 thoughts/rambles!! Some comic spoilers too, nothing major

- first of all. im so glad they kept Mark's twinky alien outfit 💅, I had to pause the ep multiple times cause he just looked so cute 😭

- overall LOVED the pacing and how they chose to adapt the lizard league + sequids plot points so far.

- Donald was badass af this ep, I'm glad he confronted Cecil right away.

- The Rex & Eve scene was soooo good. Rex is growing on me as a character tbh, has been for a while now. I didn't really care much for him in the comic but I do like the show version - I think his VA is definitely one of the main reasons, because all of his deliveries are just so full of character. He also seems much more genuine/sincere lately.

- Poor Mark trying to deal with his 'normal' life always makes me sad, you can tell that he really just wants to be there for his mom, his girlfriend and his friends, but he just can't catch a break. I think it was very touching that he offered to drop out of college so he could take care of his baby brother. In the comics I really loved his and Oliver's relationship, even though I wished we could get more of their bonding shenanigans (since a lot of the Oliver stuff went by quickly, but that's understandable due to his fast aging). I'm looking forward to how they'll deal with it in the show (and with the more Viltrumite qualities of Oliver's character).

- I swear, I love Shapesmith more and more with each of his scenes. He's like ridiculously adorable. Sure he fucked up with the whole sequid thing but he's cute and funny so he has a pass.

- now obviously, for the most impactful part of the episode .. the death scenes were extremely brutal. Rae especially made me stare at the screen in shock, holy shit. Invincible always goes all in with the horrific gore huh? - ALLEN MY BELOVED, I'm glad he's back in the fight 💪 And lastly: - Immortal was caked up this ep 💦

i watched the first episode of OPLA! and i really enjoyed it!! this is gonna be a long post and there will be SPOILERS for just the first episode of netflix's one piece.

here's what i thought:

-really love the core cast. inaki is a GREAT luffy. he really captures how luffy is both childish and rude and he SELLS it.

-mackenyu is fantastic as Zoro. he has some of the best fight choreography from what ive seen so far.

-i am in love with emily rudd as nami. she is fucjing perfect and i love that they gave her some badass shit to do in the first episode

-koby was great!! i thought he was fun and likable and i sure as fuck hope this show goes on long enough for his return in post-enias lobby.

-fucking HELMEPPO stole the show. he was funny and entertaining to watch and he had some of the sillier bits of the episode. i like that they chose to make him have long hair that gets cut by zoro. also his whole booty cheeks were out while flexing in the mirror with zoro's swords and i thought that was funny.

-they managed to make axe-hand morgan fun! i think he's one of the less entertaining early OP villains but I thought they did a good job with him!!

-i really liked shanks' appearance in this episode. the scenes with him and young luffy hit exactly like they were supposed to!!

-alvida was really fun to watch too!! i'm excited to see how they adapt her later appearances.

-okok i gotta talk about the fight choreography again. this shit was GOOD. i mean actually good. i feel like in a lot of shows in the recent past, fight choreo has gotten.. lazy? what i mean is that in this show the hits FEEL like they're hitting. and that is a compliment of the highest regard. luffy's fighting style is well adapted (and i will GET to his devil fruit in a moment) zoro's 3 sword style was both well choreographed and utilized within the scenes it was needed. i love how they play with it a little bit, not having him use all three until the climax of the episode. NAMI has some fantastic shit with her staff and i'm genuinely so glad they dont have her basically sidelined until alabasta like they do in the manga. alvida and morgan both have their weapons have true weight that you can feel to them and i'm so glad. this was the thing i was the most concerned for and its safe to say i'm happy with it.

-luffy's gum gum fruit and the cgi used for it was surprisingly good!! going into live action with a main character made of rubber is one of the most difficult things CG artists have to deal with and i hope they know how fucking good rhey did. body stretching hasn't ever looked this good.

-i liked garps inclusion and i really hope they don't reveal that he's related to luffy until way later. i get the feeling they might since he's there and i think he's going to still be important throughout the season.

-i LOVE. and i mean LOVEEEEEEEEEE that they are already setting up for season 2 mentioning baroque works so much. that shit is fucking AWESOME and i couldn't be happier that they're going ahead and foreshadowing shit for later that is amazing and i'm so damn happy.

-the setwork and costume design are FANTASTIC. the atmosphere becomes amazing because of these two things in conjunction and its fucking great. you absolutely are pulled into the world and its amazingly believeable. everything feels real. the locals, the outfits, really theres some great shit in here so far and i am DAMN excited to see more. they truly went all out and it feels fantastic.

-this show is really funny. not exactly in the way that the anime is, but in a way that works a lot better for this medium. zoro, especially, i thought they really nailed on the head. he's funny!! and luffy is too!! so is nami!! they're all really funny and entertaining to watch and i just cant believe this show exists at all.

-buggy showed up and i'm so excited to see more of him. what a god of a man. he is. kinda bad asf too.

i have one or two critiques too!!

-i liked the original way of making it known that koby wasnt working with luffy and i think its a bit lame the rest of the marines aren't shown to be glad that morgan's gone.

-theres some camera work in this show that just seems,... off? theres these closeups with a shitton of gaussian blur and it just looks. unprofessional to say the least. luckily, its not completely like this (which is kinda what i thought the show would look like at first, which had a bit of apprehension in me.)

-i just realized they didnt show shanks' arm being cut off by the sea monster. i'm sure they will but they didnt here. i sure hope they do that shits an iconic scene.

-uh. that was pretty much it. netflix was being stupid as shit for me so i didnt really get hd quality but i was watching it on netflix party w my girlfriend and it was just so exciting that i didnt really care. but fuck netflix btw.

so, pretty much, you might get the jist that i'm enjoying this show, and i am!! its honestly hitting all the marks i was hoping it would and a lot more. i love that its a show that knows what its doing. it doesnt feel lost. it feels like its confident in itself and its production. i really hope its a hit, and i sure as fuck HOPE netflix doesnt drop it if it doesnf make a gazillion dollars. i'm not religious but i'll pray for that.

marcus kane is also a very funny character. hes desperately trying to die since they flowed those 320 people on the arc. and i LOVE he CANT die. everytime he's like "omg finally im going to die" and someone saves him. im sure as soon as he thinks "ok maybe being alive is not so bad" he gets shot

the "100" on the spaceship were NEVER exactly one hundred. bc bellamy got inside so they were 101. but during the landing 2 kids died. so they were 99. there is not a single moment in this serie called "the 100" were they are one hundred. this fact is driving me crazy

The funny thing is I use this exact quote as a debunk of the common claim that Edelgard got her history of Fodlan from the Agarthans, because if that theory is true, holy shit is Thales ever careless, revealing the truth to her like this.

Edelcrits: How dare Bad Red Lady incorrectly describe what happened between Rhea and Nemesis!

This isn't even her praising Nemesis, it's just her pointing out how both Byleth and Nemesis wielded the Sword of the Creator and stand against the Nabateans, the ones who would distort history, which Rhea and Seteth both worked to do.

And here we get to mean things. Edelgard's dramatic.

How dare Edelgard be glad that she won and can now begin the long work of reforming Fodlan.

How dare Edelgard acknowledge that she must fight her enemies in battle.

Oh this one's totally gonna be mean things.

Okay so Treehouse kinda screwed up some of the verbage here. It's not so much that they made it inaccurate as they made it unclear - and Strikes is cutting out context, go fucking figure.

So Hubert's accusing the Church of Seiros of hypocrisy, of saying one thing and doing another. In the original JP, Byleth can reply,

Sometimes you must tell others to do what you yourself can’t do

Or,

You’re right

To the first, Hubert replies,

That is true, Professor. However, that is a principle for humans.

And to the second,

Yes, although humans must sometimes preach things they cannot do…

He then follows with,

It is not a principle for inhuman beings, with lifespans much longer than that of humans. That’s why we chose to fight based on human principles.

From this, he's saying the Nabateans have no excuse for committing the same foibles that humans do because they're immortal beings who should know and do better. This is in keeping with the start of that bit, where he says,

If it is between love and hate, then I would choose the latter. The goddess failed to properly govern this world. That is why it is necessary for Lady Edelgard to become the supreme leader of Fódlan.

Or, to summarize it, his whole argument is, "The gods have failed to be godly, so humanity must take responsibility in their stead."

Which is completely true. Rhea, despite her attachment to the divine, is prone to the same failures as the humans she lives over and should know better than, being a millennia old. She's untrusting, obsessed with reclaiming the past, stubborn, inflexible, and prone to excessive negative reactions to any sign of pushback.

This has kinda already gotten long enough, but it's just a set of points where Edelgard talks about her "fate". Again, Edelgard's dramatic. She also chose this path for herself.

GAP the Series Ep 5 Stray Thoughts

Last week Mon was accepted into the confidences of Sam's friends, and was given guidance on how to read Sam's moods and responses. We learned that Sam's public persona is artificial and managed by the friends, and we also confirmed that Sam very much likes Mon. Bestie and I gushed over how good everyone looked all episode, and really liked the long pink coat Mon wore.

I still can't believe Tee didn't hit on Mon's friend, Yuki.

I get Sam reflexively choosing to cut off Mon. Her friends may want to tease her, but she already lost both of her sisters because of her grandmother's homophobia and is definitely going to be reactive about losing control of a situation.

I love how we can tell how Mon feels by the intensity and detail of the pinks she's wearing.

Sam may be pissed, but she still came to slay.

I agree, Chin's shirt is too much.

Gosh, Sam is so pathetic. I love her so much. She's so scared of how much she likes Mon, and is so bad at expressing it.

It's kind of interesting how Becky speaks English words with a Thai accent when she's speaking Thai.

Jimin is such a sweet, polite guy, so him wishing Joonie a happy birthday proves he really just want to keep the peace. Tipsy Jimin is just the cutest stinking thing ever, I can picture his face so clearly in my mind! Knowing Y/N, she'll definitely make good on her mental promise to bring Jimin to see his family (I'm sure she wants to meet them too!) Also YES you're right, he was totally shirtless when he was patching up the roof of the stable... I would have passed out if I saw that, Y/N is a strong woman!

Tae - UGH Another one that is totally whipped for Y/N, taking pictures of her, including a couple at his first expo... even though only four were displayed at that expo, you can imagine he's probably taken dozens more of her, which makes me blush and kick my feet. He's definitely one of the more cuddly ones, too, so when he hugged her at the expo that moment was so sweet and intimate... physical touch must be one of his love languages. I love my men a little possessive, and I DO remember the whole perilla leaf debate (wild) and Tae being like that both irl AND in Trouvaille is just so... you know? He was definitely staking claim over Y/N in that brewery, he did not like that random man staring at his girl like that. OOF! 🥵 I'm glad you brought up Tae and Yoongi beginning to come around to one another. They have that connection of both being into music, and I think they have similar possessive feelings over Y/N. Maybe Yoongi will be the one who gets close to Tae first, we'll see!!

Jeongguk - fhdjasf our little edgelord! Ah his birthday was so self indulgent, fluffy, and a chance to see his softer side under all that iciness he usually displays. I think the longer time wears on, he'll let go of more of that frostiness and become more comfortable showing Y/N his tender side. fjdksa I forgot about the scene where he offered her a cigarette at Hoseok's meet-- such a twerp!! I love love love scary movies, and I feel like him maybe Yoongi are the only two that would actually wanna watch a horror film with me IRL, or Y/N in Trouvaille. Hoseok is a bit of a scaredy cat, and the rest of them put that off a little bit as well LOL. And for sure, there really isn't anything that can be hidden in that house anymore, there are ears literally everywhere.... bad news for someone who likes to talk shit, like me. But that's an example of Jeongguk being uncharacteristically sweet, agreeing to help Y/N even if he doesn't have to. Joon was so pissed when she didn't call out for him when she was threatened, but Y/N handled everything just fine, IMO, he was being a dramatic wolf.

You know I love a good cliffhanger!!! I can't not have one almost every time. Hopefully, this time, the conflict can be resolved quickly, and it isn't as bad as The Incident between Joon and Tae. We shall see-- or you may have already seen, in this newest update!! I'm dying.... there is indeed too much testosterone in that house, but I suppose that it is just something they're all going to need some adjusting to. BUT!! Digimon: Rumble Arena - Final Thoughts

[Guilmon voice] Digimon RUMBLE ARENA! This was really fun and nostalgic. Probably the most scuffed game I've played so far, but in a charming way. It's a Playstation 1 Super Smash Bros. knock-off. I've never really understood how Smash Bros. works, so I'm glad I played this and learned a bit about the mechanics. I didn't unlock all the characters because I don't really have a reason to (ain't got nobody to play with), but I did beat the game 5 times, so not too shabby.

Notes:

Omg this game is hilarious from an audio/graphics standpoint. There's an awkward mesh of 2D and 3D, the tamers' dialogue is as crunchy as possible, and the digimons' models have that PSX charm

I'm more of a sub than dub person with digimon, so it was very fun/funny hearing all of the digimon and tamer voice lines. Everyone sounds so silly. They shout their attack names and then say a little victory phrase every time they win.

It felt like the smaller the digimon was the easier they were to play with. It also helped to have really good projectile and aerial attacks. Terriermon was the first mon I played as and probably my fave. I liked listening to their attack lines too.

The big bad this time is Reapermon which feels pretty random since most other games cycle through the same bosses. Apparently he's voiced by Steve Blum, so that's fun. His design gives me Egyptian vibes.

Culumon saying "Which digimon are you gonna play with huh? Which one?" Every time you open up the character select screen was both grating and cute.

The game has 3 mini games that I made sure to unlock, but they're kinda...bad. Two of them are basically the same idea (launching a ball at a target) and then the 3rd is just button mashing. This is no Super Monkey Ball. I think my fave mini game was the target one with the diamonds and stars you had to hit.

I did play this game on easy mode because I'm not a fighting game person. Even on easy mode it was challenging at times! It seemed to really depend on the digimon I chose, some of them were just OP. I think I struggled the most with Gatomon who just felt clumsy to me (plus Magnadramon kinda sucked).

I think the controls for this game were pretty satisfying. I especially liked how you used the same button for digivolving and using and ultimate attack, that felt pretty badass.

I enjoyed the variety in stages and the unique challenges they presented. It was especially fun launching your opponent into lava in the fire stage lol. It might be cool to get more canon-relevant environments in future games.

Overall, I'm glad I gave this one a chance and tried different digimon out. This seems like it would have been a good sleepover game in the 2000s. Would have loved to have played it when I was young and had tons of free time -sigh-

Sapphic EnGouKidou Magical Girls AU

2: What scene did you first put down?

I didn't mention this but this fic is originally a canon divergent AU where Kidou won consecutively in the FF and Gouenji and Endou didn't meet in middle school; it's engoukidou back then too. So the original dialogues and scenes have that context first before it was ever a Magical Girls AU. It goes roughly like this (this is still Haruna and Kidou's situation here btw):

Haruna: And since when did I say that?! Kidou: !! Haruna: You think this is what I want?! To live in this... stupidly fancy mansion with a full course buffet everyday?!! Is that what you thought when you... when you chose this stupid trophy!! *shoves it on his chest* when you chose winning over contacting me?!! Kidou: *voice breaking* I didn't-- I thought--!! Haruna: Yeah, exactly!! You thought!! Because you didn't think it was worth listening to me!!

I recreated it here and I still think about this... It turned into a Magical Girls AU because I wanted there to be a way for these three to act where they're away from expectations of the people in their lives and prying eyes. This also includes from each other's (because Gouenji and Kidou have a bad history and Endou initially wants to be liked by and befriend Gouenji and vice versa) and it turns out they like being silly and fighting crimes while wearing skirts (only 2 out of 3 of them likes the skirt actually)!!

4: What's your favorite line of dialogue?

I have two sets, but it's not written to be posted yet and this story is at the early parts of creation overall so the scenes and dialogues are probably going to change, but it's so funny to me. They're all transformed as magical girls in these scenes. I use the pronouns they currently use for themselves on the narration and since this is right at the start of the story, they mostly use he/him. Kidou also has an army of penguins as his weapon, I will elaborate next time.

Kidou: *takes the small penguin with a similar cape to him, thinking for a while* Call me Hotaru. *extends his hand* Endou: *shakes the beautiful lady's hands vigorously* MAMO--MAM-- MOMOKO!! Kidou: *sweatdrops with a small smile* Did you just come up with that? Endou: N--NO!! Kidou: *scoffs in amusement* of course...

-- Different scene and chapter --

Kidou: I'm Hotaru and that one shouting over there is my partner Momoko Gouenji: *nods* Nice to meet you... *ties the villains even tighter with his fire laso, not really trying to ignore him* Kidou: Kidou: So what's your name? Gouenji: --Huh? Kidou: Your name? Gouenji: *blinks then looks at Kidou then at the villains* Gouenji: I don't want to tell... Kidou: I didn't tell anyone my real name either-- Endou: YOUR NAME'S NOT HOTARU?! Kidou: *hand on hip* You lied to me about yours too. Endou: N-No--How did you find out?!?

It's my favorite lines of dialogues so far since I haven't written much about it unlike my other WIPs. It's my newest one so far as the others already have months in the making. This will change in the future...

11: What do you like best about this fic?

It's so interesting to write or imagine how the break trio (and the other characters) would be if they were given the chance to wear a mask and not care about the people's expectations of them. We all know how both Kidou and Gouenji only bares themselves to very few people and that Endou most often than not wants to be the support that someone needs (in a bit of a people pleasing degree at rare times too).

Even if Kidou is canonically a trauma-dumper, he still put a face (to everyone who isn't Endou) whenever he's interacting bcs he's always aware that all of his actions have consequences for the Kidou Conglomerate. As for Gouenji, he canonically has only told his problems to Endou and have dangerous levels of following people's expectations of him ((his father + his friends expecting a powerful shoot (only what he thinks bcs they just want him to play soccer actually)).

So anyway, I think escapism would bring an interesting layer to their characters and them being an egg in the story is just probably me projecting or that I'm adding another layer to their characters.

Monster under the bed

"Do you have soft fur?" The little girl asked as she laid in bed, staring up at the ceiling.

Her curtains were drawn and it was mostly dark in the room aside from the small night light that projected tiny stars on the walls and ceiling. The walls were blank, not yet filled up with drawings or posters and the room itself was still empty of any living.

"Do you have tough scales?" The girl asked on receiving silence from her last question.

There was a low growl that seemed to come from nowhere. It bounced off the walls, filling the room with a sense of dread and impending death. The growl dimmed the night light with some unseen power and unknown shadows danced around her room, hands reaching towards the girl's shadow.

The girl's shadow cowered and shook, pulling the covers over it even if the girl never moved. The hands gently peeled back the covers and picked it up, the little shadow struggling.

The girl giggled, "are you a dragon?"

Silence. The shadows all froze when the girl continued to speak with no fear. Her shadow stopped fighting and looked down at her. The silence seemed to answer the girl's question.

"Oh well, even if you're not a dragon, I think you're really cool. Do you have a name?"

The growling started again, low and threatening that it sent a shiver up the little girl's spine but she just found it a funny feeling. She giggled more.

"I can do that too. Guuurrrr," she bared her teeth at the ceiling as she growled, the sound falling flat compared to the previous noises she heard.

The room fell silent for a few seconds before a softer rumble then a low snuffling noise came from the creature. The hands let go of the girl's shadow and it sunk back down to its rightful place, the little girl never even realising it was missing. She laughed with the creature until she made a little too much noise.

"Olivia! Go to sleep!" A woman's voice called from outside the room.

The girl went quiet, as did the creature. She rolled over onto her side and reached a hand over the edge of the bed. "My new brother said I won't be here for very long. I'm glad I got to meet you though. Do you want to be my friend? At least while I'm here?"

There was silence.

"You don't have to answer now," the girl yawned, "we can just talk. My name's Olivia, what's yours?"

Silence.

"Can you talk like me?"

The creature growled, still sounding angry and threatening but the girl was too tired to possibly be scared of it. Instead, she yawned more, her eyes starting to close.

"M'kay, you can talk to me 'ny timm..." the girl fell asleep, hand still hanging over the side of the bed.

A huge scaled hand reached out from under the bed, its fingers all ending in long, sharp claws. Its hand dwarfed the girl's completely and the thing it belonged to couldn't reasonably fit under her bed. This hand could easily crush the child if it so chose. Instead, it nudged her hand back onto the bed and pulled the covers over it.

Digimon Frontier episode thoughts yay

08 - Save Everyone! You Must Evolve, Tsunomon -I'm glad we see Junpei and Izumi having their own adventure, I thought we might've just had them at Forest Terminal (or the next area t least) and meet back up with Takuya and the others. -OMG BABIES BABIES BABIES LITERALLY SO MANY DIGIMON BABIES AND TEACHER TOGEMON -Getting some of Izumi's backstory. So she actually DID live in Italy for a while. It's not just a character quirk when she speaks Italian. (I mean I guess it's still a quirk but not just like a "lolrandom" quirk) -"I don't want to be alone but I don't want to go out of my way to socialise either." damn girl stop being relatable haha -Tsunomon can evolve to Gabumon but then evolve back. Interesting. I guess evolution is seen as more of a "transformation" in general in Frontier. I mean it makes sense for the kids but the fact that it's extended to the Digimon is interesting too. Wonder if this will be a plot point like in Tamers or if it's just a different interpretaton of the Digimon world. (Or has this already been brought up and I forgot haha) -The kids are all back together! I really enjoyed this episode. It was nice having a more character driven conflict after all the literal fighty fight conflicts we've had so far. Plus we're really getting to see the kids interacting and growing a bit at this point.

09 - The Enemy is Chakmon?! The Mysterious TV Forest -Guy with Fire Digimon Spirit struggles to light fire. -MEAT APPLES. Honestly Digimon always has food that I really want to try, it's so weird. -TV Forest is a cool idea. Getting glimpses of the human world when the moons are covered. Is this partially how Digimon learned about the human world? Who knows. Tomoki though TT_TT -Oh so there are two TYPES of Spirits. Obviously from the intro (and how Digimon works generally) I knew the kids would have more forms/Spirits. I love that each episode seems to be giving new info like this, whether directly or indirectly. -I'm starting to like Koji or at least how they're handling him. Like, yeah, some people do just prefer their own company. It's not a judgment on others. It's not bad. He's fine, he's literally just hanging. It's nice. -Bakumon. EVIL. -The scene of Wolfmon up against a tree and it's Chakmon facing him off was funny like "oh no!! a cute bear!! haha how silly" then Chakmon pulls a gun on him and I'm like "okay, Sir, please calm down" -Chakmon being the ice elemental fella but also being able to like, turn into slush and stuff is a really cool idea. Usually ice elemental things are just "snowstorm" and/or "icicles" it's nice seeing some creativity with it. -Okay not gonna lie, Izumi being the only girl in the group AND being constantly saved/knocked out is pretty fucking annoying. Digimon was always pretty good at not being sexist (especially as an anime based on a "boy's toy") but at this point I'm already like "bruh please stop" it's not even NECESSARY most of the time (like when she first evolved and Woodmon bonked her noggin out cold. At least with Tsunomon/Gabumon it tied into the story a little plus she was in danger because she chose to take a risk, but… UGH). This is honestly my only complaint about the series so far (and although annoying it's FAR from series-ruining levels of bad lol especially when it comes to anime and sexism). It's not like she's even the dainty, waifish type and it's a flaw she's going to work on by becoming braver and more independant as the series goes on. I know I'm just shy of a fifth of the way through the story but it's enough of a pattern at this point where I'm like "ugh". Anyway I won't rant too much (lol too late) since this is more a complaint with the series generally than this specific episode. -Takuya is A GOOD BOY. "OOooh your friends are EvIl DfEat THEM!!" "no" haha you tell 'em I wish more characters just... didn't fall for mindwash bullshit like that -But yeah, another good episode! Stuff happened, it was interesting and entertaining. We got a little bit more insight into the characters. And when Koji was like "hmph you savage" HE WAS JUST TEASING and he and Takuya do a little fist bump. Like THEYRE FRIENDS. He's edgy loner but he's also not JUST edgy loner. We end on the mysterious voice from Koji's device…

10 - Can't Control the Beast Spirit?! Garmmon Evolves! -Okay just before the episode even starts I'm like "oh I know Garmmon!" then remember I'm thinking of SMT's Garm haha -GOTSUMON!! I love getting to see more little Digimon villages and stuff. -Grottomon's back, ruh-roh. -Aww, Gotsumon protected Koji instead of going for the shiny stone. -ROLLER DOG. -The Gotsumon in this ep was such a bro dude haha. Imagine spending (years??) of your life searching for magic stones to unlock a secret sacred power to overthrow some bad guys and then some rando kid just swoops in and gets it instead of you and just… you take it on the chin like a total champ. -Honestly not much to say. Just another solid episode. I DO hope Grottomon doesn't just KEEP showing up eternally, but it's not like he's Team Rocket geting blasted off every episode. He's only showing up every so often. Plus I expect we'll get more Beast Spirits and having the kids learn to control them before he's finally defeated.

11 - Defeat Me! The Legendary Warrior Vritramon Runs Wild -"Curse those meddling kids. Well, better summon Satan!" - Grottomon, probably -The Digimon fortune tellers were all pretty funny. Especially Sepikmon counting the stars haha. I wonder what kind of fortune teller Gekomon is in the dub. "Funny Soda Fortune Teller" "Got a Tummyache from Too Many Milkshakes Fortune Teller" -now Tomoki's Spirit is also stolen! I like that Grottomon is actually having some kind of impact ont the heroes and isn't just… showing up just to be sort-of-but-not-totally-beaten every episode. That's always an annoying kind of recurring villain. -Koji evolves to Garmmon after Takuya is taken over by Vritramon. Probably going to learn how to better control his Beast Spirit during the fight. I really like that these new Spirits are a STRUGGLE for the kids. It's not just "and now you get the bigger, better, stronger Spirit, have fun!" -CLIFFHANGER GO -this episode felt more straightforward and shorter than the recent ones, maybe because there was actually a bit more fighting and stuff?

From the amnesia fic, when Max is convincing Charles to fuck in the balcony and Charles saying you’ve already tried that and it’s not happening. The part where Max wakes up from nightmare and goes to sleep next to Charles.

From Breathe You In (like a vapor), honestly so many good moments, but to think at the top of my head the whole sequence of Max wanting Charles to wear his merch and then giving him his fav hoodie!! 🥺🥺

From warming verse 🤠🤠🤠 honestly all five them are absolutely amazing! There’s no way I can pick my fav part from them. But if I have to choose one (it changes from time to time so I’ll say the current one) , it’s when Charles didn’t expect Max to actually make him waffles. Like warming! Verse max is so special and nice and everything!

From long live, there’s so many but I really like the part after the Austria race. Like the angst is just so right on the feels. And I also like the ring story, how max had bought even before they were together!

From Viva la Miami, the whole dynamic change from the warming verse. Loved the dominant and teasing Charles vibe. My fav from this fic has to be Charles loving how big Max’s d ick was. It was so funny reading this fic after the warming verse fics.

From the threesomes, because I haven’t gotten time to properly read the oscar one, I will say from carlos one is when max is trying to invite carlos and the part where Carlos feels things from Max being dominant and the banter between the two of them is so nice and amazing!

As you can tell I really like reading things you write lol Can’t wait to read and love more of them!! 🩷🩷🤠

God, the trying to convince Charles to fuck on the balcony is such a fun moment from I'll Be Right Beside You. I love how Charles chokes on his coffee and Max is so confused, and how exasperated Charles is when he's like "YOU AND THIS GODDAMN BALCONY!!!!!" Ahhhhhh I'm so glad you loved that part too!!! It's one of my fav parts looking back at it!!!!!

AND THE CLOTHES SCENE FROM VAPOR, YES YES YESSSSSS. I feel like that's another super underrated scene from that fic, even when I think back on it. It's not the first one that comes to mind but holy shit, I sure did giggle and kick my feet writing it! I have a big old thing for clothes sharing.................... which I know you all have picked up on..................... it's just so....................... intimate. you know? it's such a domestic thing. it punches me right in the gut every time i come across clothes sharing in a fic.

THE AUSTRIA RACE, MY BELOVED. That was such a hard chapter to write, but I'm so fucking pleased with how it turned out. I know it's hard to read sometimes, and I know it brought out a lot of emotions in people, but it's def my fav chapter looking back on it too! I think it had a lot of important moments... and I was very deliberate about how I wanted them both to react to the fight, and how differently they reacted to it. (Not sure if that makes sense.) but I think it was a nice reminder that they're both different people, despite growing up together and having this fairy tale romance, and that they were still so young and saw their relationship so differently. That they were blinded by their love for each other and didn't realize that their relationship was hanging in the balance, because all they had known their entire life was love for each other. But sometimes LOVE isn't enough, you know? being an adult in an adult relationship is fucking hard. you run into challenges you never expected. Fuck. It was so important to me to leave all of that in there. I'm so glad you enjoyed it 😭😭😭😭😭😭

I already asked @officialfanbug, and I thought why not get other opinions on (mostly because I like hearing various opinions on things) so here I am. So on to the questions, I heard someone say it's nearly impossible to make all the miraculous heroes look cohesive since all their suits ha e different themes, patterns, and color schemes. As an artist and character designer, what do you think about that statement? Also, do you think the miraculous heroes' lack of cohesion could work to their advantage? Like maybe it could be used to make them kind of like the justice league, a group of independent heroes that are all capable of working on their own but chose to work together to fight threats they can't handle alone. What's your opinion on this idea?

I'm glad! It's an interesting topic to explore. I'm always glad to share my opinion.

Now, I want to preface by saying that I'm no professional, and this is all from first hand experience.

I heard someone say it's nearly impossible to make all the miraculous heroes look cohesive since all their suits ha e different themes, patterns, and color schemes. As an artist and character designer, what do you think about that statement?

I think that's like.. false- but like, it's too late to change that. A good designer knows that you can have a variety of shapes, sizes, patterns, colors- and have them go to together as a group. Now, what's important is that- when you look at a character. you're able to glean several things: a strong silhouette, their personality, and how their body language expresses themselves.

To be a direct comparison to Miraculous Ladybug, I bring up DC Super Hero Girls. (Regardless of the show's actual quality since I've only seen ep 1 and 2, Lauren Faust is ALWAYS able to make a strong cast of characters-- looks SO INTENTLY at Milky Way and MLP) Even in resting poses, their character designs say SO MUCH about each of them, yet they all fit into the same group super easily.

Canon ML's issue is that it's trying too hard to emulate other, more popular heroes, then trying to form it's own identity. It's a case of "These heroes wore skintight spandex, so Ladybug should wear skintightspandex. This is how a superhero SHOULD look." while completely ignoring it's own design pitch ("we want to make something uniquely Parisian/french") via trying to emulate already-popular and successful media (Marvel and DC, respectively) when those series THEMSELVES are breaking away from such trends, ignoring it's own in-universe lore (The suits reflect the user's inner self) and shows bias towards sexualizing the young charterers (Marinette alone has so many crotch shots and a focus on her legs, her signature pose has her hips thrust in an unnatural way, her ladybug model has been shown to have inflated "assets") all the while trying to claim girl-power as the reasoning.

it's a lack of cohesion that plagues the whole series (as it all runs on "Rule of Cool" and "rule of funny" instead of trying to form a good narrative) but I'll stick to character design exclusively. So in the end, what they do is "This is cool, lets do this" and fail to actually make characters that match each other, even though those those designs fail to.. reflect the character themselves (Marinette does not match ladybug, sorry to everyone who thinks she does, but you are all wrong) tell their story (Cat Noir's outfit doesn't match his personality very much- it looks very conventional- PV's propped collar worked great in this regard, and the wild hair doesn't translate well since Adrien's hair is fluffy and doesn't look too different. from Cats.) and a LOT of the body language that made the characters interesting in the beginning was LARGELY SAMG's doing, and prolly wasn't thought of much by the original story-boarders. Non-child characters get to have interesting designs (Fu and Mayura, notably. And hawkmoth's design is far more interesting than Ladybugs.) while some child characters have shitty or half-assed designs due to budget reasons (Ladybug herself, Miss Tracker/Hound, Ryuko)

It's like they have too much money, yet not enough at the same time. It's wild.

Also, do you think the miraculous heroes' lack of cohesion could work to their advantage? No. Not when they come from the same "Set" like the story they want to tell is saying. Characters like Ladybug, Ryuko, Queen Bee, Vipereon and Purple Tigress all wear skintight latex that dosen't match their personalities whatsoever... which works if they are meant to be in a themed set... which is the whole point. LB and CN are supposed to come in a pair- that's not like, fandom talking-- that's how the story presents it, even though they wanted it to be The Ladybug Show. you can't NOT have the characters mirror. But even with the color mirroring, the designs couldn't be more different. and thats bad.

but then that theming is offset by designs like Alyabug, Rooster Bold, Goatboy, Horse Glasses White Dreadlocks and Oxford, which have more complex and interesting designs, and Pigella, Mousegirls 1 and 2, and Catwalker which seem to match personalities better. (Multimouse is actually one of the best designs in the series, ngl. the jump rope tail and the twin buns are so good- and the pink complements Marinette SO GOOD ugh I cry.)

Hi I already left a massive ramble in the tags but I wanted to say again as one of the world's first and foremost Nana enjoyers your revue of hunting analysis is so incredibly extremely good and thank you for it. I just wanted to add on one thing that I find interesting in relation to Nana acting out her cold and detached role - two of her new cards in relive released after the movie have had her play a character that within fiction is acting out the role of a villian to unite the common good. Specifically, in the wrestling event she plays a Heel (the Villian role in wrestling). Heels effectively serve to shoulder all of the hatred and disdain of the audience, purposefully provoking them so that they'll get more excited for the eventual victory. There's a long history of the actors who play heels receiving extreme amounts of harrassment and hatred even when they're outside of their roles in their normal lives, especially when the scripted nature of wrestling wasn't commonly known. I've always thought casting her as a heel was a really interesting choice, especially considering the degree to which certain people have started to assume that her persona with the Revue is somehow her true personality. So yeah that's just something to chew on, sorry if I've dumped a bit too much in your askbox but I've thought about this a lot. (I'm also sorry if any of this is redundant to your analysis, I still need to give a few parts of it a closer read)

I’m glad you liked it! I was honestly a little worried I would too biased in favor of Junna when I started it because that Revue is really about her struggles with Nana playing the antagonist, so I’m glad I did Nana justice in that as well.

But it’s kinda funny how you mention that heels are meant to draw in the audience because that’s literally what happened to Nana.

According to this interview with the director at line 28, originally Nana was as much an antagonist as everyone else. After all, Karen is fighting literally everyone for her dream to shine with Hikari, so there are 8 antagonists if you think about it that way. Actually, Hikari’s the biggest obstacle to fulfilling that dream.

It was only after the show was released that the staff realized that fans see her as the biggest threat, and so they kind of leaned into that a bit more for the movie to fulfill the audience’s expectations.

So because of that, when they wanted to draw in the audience with a 1v6 that they hadn’t done that before, they chose Nana as the strongest one and they gave her a cold persona to make her convincing as a threat. Plus she can’t exactly be the usual helpful and reliable Banana if most of them have to find their next stage without her.

Although neither of her new villain cards have her acting as cold as she does in the movie Revues. Like the Heel character, Nanna, clearly cares about Fuumi and is passionate about what they stand for, and the Demon King is open about how he loves humans, which is much closer to how she acted in the show than how she acted in the movie. Like how even when she was being overpowering, she was openly caring towards Hikari and Karen in their Revues, telling them that she’ll protect them. I guess that’s because she wasn’t really written as a villain back then, just someone who was desperate to win the auditions like everyone else.
