PLEASE HAVE A RANT ABOUT SOPHIE I MISS HER SO MUCH

SOPHIE 🫶🫶 i love her so much it's unreal but nobody else ever talks about her 😔 I'm obsessed with her arc in tid and her relationship with Gideon is just perfection like nobody is doing it like them. they're so cute and I think Sophie especially after everything she went through deserves that. Gideon accidently proposing at like. breakfast. kinda stands out because he would have done the big romantic thing but he just got a little carried away. he just like "oh and then we'll get married!!" and forgot they are not engaged <3 he was just so excited to marry her like Gideon is truly peak pathetic loser lightwood in love. and he loves her so so much. and Sophie doesn't think she deserves that but she does!! and Gideon loves her regardless of her past or her beliefs of her worth and it just so sweet. like their romantic storyline is just so good I wish we saw more of it but what we did get is perfection so I can live with it (manifesting they get one of the short stories tho)

also another underrated aspect of her character is how it's stated that she's a naturally gifted fighter. like Gideon says multiple times she's the best fighter he's seen given her total lack of training. like she's a bad ass! AND WE NEVER SEE HER FIGHT IN TLH IT'S A FUCKING CRIME 😭 like I wanted to see seasoned warrior Sophie run rings around everyone else... she was literally done so dirty it's unforgivable really 💔💔 we get one (1) crumb and it's James saying in chog that Sophie and Henry tutored them after they all got expelled from the academy. and presumably Sophie taught the fighting and weapons side of things while Henry taught them classroom subjects like history and runes and 27 demon languages and science etc etc. unfortunately this is never outright stated or touched upon outside this one conversation :( I never win

Hey I saw your plea for prompts!!! No pressure if you're not interested, but could I have a 54 for Thomastair fluff and/or hurt/comfort? "It's you and me against the world?"

(Read on AO3) "I'm going to tell them." 

Thomas says the words with a resolute tone and a small nod of his head. Thomas is sitting on the other side of the sofa, a notebook in front of him that’s meant to be filled with notes but looks far too empty for how long they’ve been sitting there. 

"Tell who what?" Alistair asks, looking up from his book with a cocked eyebrow. Despite Thomas making his declaration as if giving an answer to end a conversation, it's been silent between them for nearly half an hour. Alastair could tell that there's something on Thomas' mind but he's found that if he doesn't push it, Thomas is more likely to open up on his own.  

"Everyone everything," Thomas replies unhelpfully.  

Alastair purses his lips together, wondering if Thomas is being intentionally obtuse simply to mess with him. 

"About us, I mean," Thomas adds quickly at the sight of Alastair's expression.  

Alastair wonders where this is coming from all of a sudden.  Not that he isn't thrilled at the idea,  but… well, he knows Thomas' friends and he can't say he's eager to see their reactions.  

"Why the sudden change of heart?" 

"Because you've changed my heart." 

It's such a simple, sincere reply yet it sends Alastair's heartbeat racing with a giddiness he'd deny until his dying day.  

"And your friends?" Alastair can't help but ask.  

"They'll understand. They'll come around eventually.  And if they don't…" Thomas' newfound resolve waivers for the first time. He swallows thickly but pushes through without much hesitation. "... if they don't, then that's their loss. I love you, Alastair, and I want everyone to know it, even if it's you and me against the world." 

Alastair is so moved by that simple sentiment that he blinks a few times in rapid succession to make sure there’s no danger of unexpected tears being shed. 

“Every time I think I have you figured out, you surprise me in the best of ways,” Alastair says, placing his book down on the table in front of him. He shifts over to sit closer to Thomas, bringing a hand up to cup the side of Thomas’ face before kissing him the best he can through the impossibly large smile on his face. 

“So I take it you’re okay with me telling them, then?” Thomas asks when they finally pull away. “They may be awful to you, or- ”  “Hey, hey,” Alastair cuts Thomas off, shaking his head and taking Thomas’ hands in his own.  “However they react, I can handle it. We can handle it. Together. You and me against the world, remember?”

Rant about Wessa to me!

ughhhhhh with pleasure. they are my favourite couple.

Def the most disproportionately represented in CC's written work when fronted with the worth they have both, to the fandom and story. If that makes sense. And not for the better.

I think my biggest gripe with the way they are represented is that their true 'arc' as a couple ends with them getting married, when really, in the grand scheme of a relationship that is actually only little more than the beginning.

The real struggle in one's arc is how to stay together through thick and thin. how to navigate.

In fact, the way that CC wrote Malec, is what i HOPED she would do with Wessa. In fact for a long time i assued we would get that. When TLH was announced i was estaticcccc to be able to back to that time, and was dissapointed for a long time again, not only that during the era when Wessa was alive and kicking was beyond sidelined we got no standalones or Red Scrolls equivalent for literally the top 3 ship fav in TSC. They are full of chemistry could fill copious novels with their adventures and family building idk why they were so disrespectfully side lined during TLH. They should have gotten standalones while the TLH came out during the TLH era. Just like how Red Scrolls did for TMI in the second half trilogy.

And i think that's why i'm so salty that TSC ends at TWP. Don't get me wrong I want Kitty and things to come to an eventual end, but i feel like toxicallyyyyy, i'm owed more with Wessa. I have so many questions and lived experiences i think we could learn or know more of (i wrote an essay somewhat talking about this here for you last week if u want a refresher :P), from them as a couple beyond when they were just barely of age kids getting married. Their musings even as young adults were miles ahead of when i was 17 reading them, so imagine what they would be when they were in their late 20s, early 30s and beyond.

So yeah. I apologise if this was a bit wop wooop of a response. I'm in my feels today. I had a shit day so i'm feel cynical.

I am always on the hunt for fics to try and help fill this void, if you have any to rec do lmk <3

yes. like intermission: grief, for example, was mainly cordelia mourning james's and matthew's disappearance into edom (which is fine. seriously, it is) but thomas got a tiny mention about how he was the last of the merry thieves in this world (london) and how alone he must feel. that just straight up broke my heart, but then it doesn't really get mentioned again?? so am i gonna delve into that a bit more in this fic? absolutely. and that's not to mention the severe lack of grieving at/mention of the fucking funeral. if livvy and robert can have theirs in tda, christopher can damn well have his in this fic

tbh there's gonna be a lot i address in this fic, you mark my words. there's just so much to say, y'know????? whether i do it successfully is another matter, but i'm gonna bloody well try

basically i figured immediately that having matthew as the mcdonald's coworker would be chaotic and i feel like he would make a probably miserable job slightly more bearable just by being chill and funny. like he gives the coworker you can joke around and shit talk with vibes. i just think alastair would be a good lab partner? like sure the communication skills might suck but idk at least we'd have a purpose for interacting, unlike the elevator. which is why i think thomas would be better to be stuck in an elevator with because i feel like we could get along well enough to talk about something random for ten hours without it being too awkward

The funny thing is that Robert Lightwood might be my favourite modern TSC character out of all of them. Like, Clary and Simon are up there and give him a run for his money, but Robert is just so... complex, I guess? And I feel like the "bigoted asshole grows and improves as an adult" story isn't one we get to see enough. Also I adore his internal monologue it's super gay and unhinged.

him being your favourite is kinda real actually 😭 like you're so right he's such a unique character & everything we know about him is so interesting. I wish we got more of Robert obviously but at the same time, there's so many layers to the scenes he is in I can't complain too much. he's just so interesting to think about.
