Hamburgo é uma das cidades mais bonitas da Alemanha. Muito procurada por jovens, por sua vivacidade cultural, também é um dos principais destinos turísticos entre os alemães.

Localizada no norte do país, às margens do Elba, é a segunda cidade mais populosa da Alemanha, depois de Berlim. Hamburgo é conhecida por ser o maior e mais importante porto da Alemanha, segundo maior da União Europeia (junto com o da Antuérpia). Ademais, Hamburgo é também a metrópole da mídia alemã.

A cidade de Hamburgo leva o nome em referência ao castelo Hammasburg, construído pelo imperador Carlos Magno, em 810. Além disso, durante o período da Idade Média, Hamburgo fez parte da Liga Hanseática, que reuniu cidades alemãs e bálticas para fins comerciais. A localidade conquistou seu papel principal, tanto no que diz respeito à economia quanto às atividades comerciais do país. E, até hoje, Hamburgo mantém este papel de destaque.
