I know a lot of artists are antsy about art theft right now (myself included, I literally just had a terrible nightmare about fighting the physical manifestation of AI, The Mitchells vs The Machines style…). I can’t claim that any of these things can prevent it. But here’s a few things I’ve found useful:
Opening a free account on Pixsy.com. This website does a decent job at letting me know when my images have been reposted. 99% of the time, the results are just Tumblr-copying zombie websites that just repost everything that is already here. But, it’s sensitive enough that it alerted me when my old college posted my work. They were harmlessly using my stuff as an example of alumni work- but I was glad to be in the know, AND they had mistakenly credited my deadname, so I was able to reach out and correct that. I would have never have seen it otherwise. The website has subscription options, but you can ignore them and still use the monitoring services it provides.
Reverse image searching my most widely shared pieces on haveibeentrained.com. This website checks to see if your work has been fed to AI.
Looking up legal takedown letters and referencing them to draft a generic letter for my own use. This takes a bit of the stress off what is already a stressful and often time-consuming ordeal. Taking time to craft a Very Scary, Legally Threatening, Yet Coldly Professional Memo has been worth it.
Remaining careful about what and how I post online. My living depends on sharing my work, so I have to post it. I’ve learned through trial and error how to post lower resolution images that still look good, but aren’t easily used for anything beyond the intended post, and of course, strategic watermarking. Never, ever post full res, print quality stuff for the general public. Half the time it ends up looking unflattering on social media anyways, cause the files get crunched for being large. I try to downsize my images, while set to bicubic smoothening, to head that off. Look up the optimal image resolutions and proportions for individual sites before posting your web versions. For some work, cropping the piece, or posting chunks of detail shots instead of a full view, is a more protective measure.
Look out for other artists! Reach out when in doubt. Don’t steal from others. Learn the difference between theft, and a study/master copy/fanart/inspiration. Don’t assume that all posted art has the same intended purpose as a “how to” instructional like 5 Minute Crafts. Ask permission. Artists are often helpful and supportive towards people who want to study their work! And, the best tip-offs I’ve received have all been from other people who were watching my back. Thank you to everybody who keeps an eye out for my work, and who have been thoughtful enough to reach out to me when they see theft happening 💖 y’all are the real MVPs. All we have is each other.

I hope you answer this. I have been part of the editing community on Instagram and twitter and I understand how it feels not getting credit for your work. You're right it requires effort to find clips, loop them and edit them with effects and texts. But the easier solution is to go for a watermark no one on that list ever claimed they were the one making the gifs and some private accounts and some people who do give credits are also added. It's just impossible to control the sharing of content if it's publicly uploaded once and sometimes people save it for later and don't remember the @ it doesn't mean they are intentionally stealing work.
Hi! I think that you are not getting what me and others are upset about. First things first, that list is old, it's like from mid 2023 or something, i dont know why it made a resurgence now and even if i dont quite agree with it, i dont think it was meant as a way of "look this are the criminals, death to them" and more of a "look your gifs may be in these twitter accounts, maybe u would like to reach out". I do think people can do better and learn.
I get that twitter as whole is difficult to find sources, specially if u find the gif in the automated search part, and even more if the OG poster of said gif didnt credit shit. And that's a problem that could be solved if u do give credit from the start. The excuse of "oh i don't remember where this is from" does not sit right with me bc then dont post it, look for it and if you dont find it dont post it. Bc we shouldn't have to watermark our gifs, and even then it would be really good if u could also link it. It is not difficult at all!
Ignoring all that I know it is difficult to control the sharing without credit specially when there are SO many social media apps! What bothers me (us) is that instead of saying "i will try to do better" or "oh i didn't realize people cared ab credit" f1twt goes and says "oh they are exaggerating" "oh this doesnt take any time" "oh no the tumblr hags" and it isn't kind, it isn't respectful, and isn't pretty. You are belittling work done by other people. Of course you can unintentionally steal things sure but you are still doing it, and if ur response to people being upset ab it is to say "they are exaggerating" my man you are not being respectful.
I'm GLAD that people in that list is giving credit, and I hope the ones that don't learn to give it too.

I've seen there's posts going round saying you need to delete all your art from tumblr, right now! This very second! Because it's gonna get scraped for AI!!! And I totally get anyone who does delete their stuff to avoid that, or at least deletes the old stuff and reuploads with glaze or nightshade But I dunno, I've reached the point where I feel like all these companies (the AI creators, and the social media sites etc.) are so blasé about your data, so out of any fucks about privacy and personal ownership and only care about £$ line go up, that it's probably all been scraped a thousand times already?! Tumblr's move will certainly make this even easier and more likely, but, whenever I post anything online anymore I am under the full belief that this is gonna get taken and used by anyone who wants to already 🤷‍♂️ Perhaps that is a negative mindset, but I dunno guys, it feels like the damage is largely already done and deleting all my art at this point will only serve to make my life less fun. On a more positive note, the kind of people that are running AI are ridiculous tech bros, the exact types that ran nft's and various other hair brained schemes straight into the ground, so there's hope there too. If AI was being developed seriously as an actual tool for artists to use it's one thing, and I think there could be legitimately interesting uses there. but the current state of affairs with the rampant theft and fuck you get mine attitude ignoring any copyright laws in their path, it could easily all crash and burn a couple of lawsuits later. Or people will just get bored and move on. In the mean time yes, it is doing real damage to artists, not arguing that. Just saying as negative as my attitude to this situation is, I also have hope that it may not be the all out artistic apocalyptic event some predict. But as it stands now, I feel like everything online is 'free real estate' to these people, no matter what checkboxes you ticked or watermarks you added, or new policies dickhead CEO's add to their social media sites. To be clear: It shouldn't be this way, it fucking sucks, and by all means delete your stuff if you feel it necessary. I don't plan to at the moment. I do have glaze set up for future posts. Anyway just my thoughts on the matter at the moment. Anyone else feel this way? Or, if you are deleting your stuff now, what are you going to do going forward? New websites/come back and repost with glaze/other?

Tbh aside from work and being busy, another subtle reason why I seldom drew for myself in 2023 was the advent of A/I generated images and how social media are now based on consumerism, way more than before. I felt demotivated for this and other reasons, and although it's a stupid response in retrospect I can't ignore it influences my mood towards creating - or rather, sharing art. I used to like to share art online, thanks to it I connected with wonderful people and I grew up thanks to it. But now when sharing art I can't help but fear what people might do with it without my consent. Stealing art posted online is nothing new, but it bothers me both the A/I shit and how much social media now encourage this behaviour with the consumerism approach.
Now it's time to stop worrying about this and focus on the fun part, and maybe add a few more watermarks just in case.

My personal Turing test for if those art advice threads are useful or not:
A post/thread isn't useful if:
1. If the poster is from a big city (usually either New York or Los Angeles) then their advice only works in that area or surrounding cities. Bonus points if they tell you to move to these cities, as if anyone can just do that.
2. They ignore the issue that people don't have the same opportunities as them and instead say something to the effect of "Just work harder and network! It's easy!"
3. Talks more about the business side of things instead of the venues you should be going to/looking for.
4. Completely ignores the fact that modern social media is a hell scape and that the art market is sadly over saturated. Thinks everyone can make it and doesn't admit luck is a factor.
5. They (sneakily) refuse to help smaller artists. When asked why, they say something to the effect of, "You want me to lose MY clients?"
6. They have 10k or more followers on any social media platform. | I call this the 1% of 10% rule. Take your follower count, take 10% of that, then take the 10% number and take 1% of that. If your percent is below 10 the advice isn't going to work or is going to be unsustainable. You need at minimum 5k followers to even get people to be interested in buying your work, let alone have a reliable client base.
7. Saying "know your audience" when people may have none or a very small one. Especially if your style or interests are niche.
The advice is useful if:
1. They encourage you to look into local venues (e.g. Art fairs, cons, non-profit museums) and keep up with what's going on in the online sphere or your respective fandom space. (e.g. Zines, multi animation projects, art fights, monthly challenges, etc.)
2. They say something to the effect of "this is what works/worked for me, but for you it may be different"
3. If they do have a huge following, they do art shares/reblog smaller artists often. They don't see their coworkers as competition.
4. They admit they got to where they are by sheer luck, networking with the right people, and/or location.
5. They take into consideration that people from developing countries are less advantaged as they are. Bonus points if they commission/purchase work from them.
6. Admit that regardless of the social media platform, everywhere feels hard to get a foothold on because of multiple factors. The main ones being an algorithm that seems to like hiding the people you follow for seemingly no reason, and that you either need a lot of luck or a recognizable art style that people are going to flock to.
7. Encourage others to make things at your own pace instead of churning out shoddy work. A great example is posting wips or simple sketches (preferably at a low quality and with a glaze filter or watermark on to deter AI scraping)
8. Have people ask themselves the question on whether or not they want to make their art a career or a hobby. Sometimes people are pushed to do a career when it would be more beneficial to them to keep it as a hobby instead.
I'm sure there's much, much more that could be added, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

there is literally a built in feature where you can use someone elses gif and it !! links back !! to the post !!!! it credits op!!!!! on the gif!!!!!!!! if you MUST reuse someones gif that was originally posted here, use that.
_____________________________________________
I'm sorry I'm new here could you please show me the feature? I don't want to offend anybody or steal someone's work.
Also, if I can't find the original creator (I found it on another social media) what should I do?
I know you have no obligation to explain these things to me but it would be incredibly helpful. Thank you in advance
Ah! No! You're very much allowed to ask these things :)
Firstly, the other site option. A few gif makers do leave a watermark, so check for one of those first. If not, try actually following this tutorial and you might find the gif you saw there on here! I've tried that a few times and it's worked wonders I tell you. If you really cannot find a source, then I think you might have to find a different gif to use :(
Now, I'm gonna show you how to do this on desktop, but if anyone who's a mobile user wants to reblog this with an app tutorial please don't feel afraid to.
Tumblr media
Do you see this saultry little binch on the bottom lsft
It opens:
Tumblr media
THIS bad boy. (Ignore every single gif loading, something something stereotypical Australian wifi bad whatever. It doesn't matter because they'll load for you.)
All you have to do to find the gif you want is to search what you think it'll be tagged as. For example:
Tumblr media
ghouls !! so many ghouls :)
click on whatever one your heart desires, and the gif will open on your post where you opened the menu originally.
Tumblr media
The OP should appear on the bottom right, as you can see here, and you, my friend, will have a credited gif !!

Art and Consent
Since the beginning of this year I have been debating how to proceed with my art online. Some may have noticed I have not posted art since January 1st despite completing a new batch of commissions and doing numerous art streams.
In the past, my art has been reposted on Facebook AND Instagram, and those are just the ones I know about.
Once upon a time I had a dedicated art page on Facebook. When my work was reposted, I asked the reposter Facebook group to simply share the same piece from my actual art Facebook page, in order to simultaneously get proper credit and also direct traffic generated from their larger group to my page. My requests went unanswered and ignored. As a result, I deleted my Facebook art page because there simply was no point. My page didn't get any views outside of immediate friends and the larger Facebook groups notoriously repost content even to this day.
For the Instagram incident, I reported the repost which did get taken down per my request to Instagram itself, and let me tell you it's exhausting. It's not exhausting in the sense that I had to jump through an arduous amount of hoops, but it's so emotionally draining and discouraging to have something you spent hours/days/weeks/etc of your life on just taken.
Now my art can be scraped, fed into generative AI, and regurgitated on a massive scale. Not just my art but my writing, too. I've made my works on AO3 private to try and lessen AI scraping, but I'm sure there's workarounds. Long past are the days where I could finish an art piece and post it online immediately. In order to protect my own work I have extra steps before I can share anything online. Nightshade it. Glaze it. Reduce the resolution. Cover it in watermarks.
Sabotage my own art so I can share it with others.
AI itself is not malicious, but it is being used maliciously, and the matter comes down to consent. Seeing a piece of art online DOES NOT MAKE IT YOURS TO DO WITH AS YOU PLEASE. Take any onboarding training for any company and I'm sure there will be a training course that is some flavor of "[insert company name] cannot use images/music/etc without rights to said image/music/etc" even if it is free, with exceptions for work that is free use.
Yet we have social media sites, the main source for independent and freelance artists to advertise and receive their work, ignoring the consent of artists and forcing opt-in models for their userbase. Independent and freelance artists cannot afford to NOT be online in this day and age.
So what do I do? Take the numerous extra steps to sabotage my art in order to share? Delete my art from social media, including some 18 years of art posts? Put all of my work behind a paywall?
It's so tiring and discouraging, y'all.

hiiii mel <3 i’m.. thinking of starting to write for nct.. mostly jaemin.. and i more or less have an idea for formatting but it’s been a really long time since i’ve had to do graphics for fic’s (like the banner and stuff!) and i was wondering if you had any tips for that? like where to find good pictures (solid backgrounds seem like the best choice for not clashing with the lettering, a problem i ran into unfortunately…) and also is there any particular place you get your fonts from? if you aren’t comfortable answering that (or any of this!) then that’s totally ok and feel free to just give general advice or ignore this completely :]
now i leave you with renjun… https://www.instagram.com/reel/C117-m9JGuo/?igsh=aXI1YmZ6M2YycHg1
hiii! under the cut!
so you've already got a good idea with using solid backgrounds for fic headers to make it easier for the text to show up! i source pretty much all my images from the groups/idols' official social medias. i just caution you not to take screenshots of say, instagram uploads, because this will degrade the quality of the image. either download it from twitter or wherehaveyou, or from an updates account like neocatharsis or wayvment here on tumblr! another word of caution: DO NOT DOWNLOAD TEASER IMAGES/PHOTOSHOOT IMAGES FROM CONTENT CREATORS WHO MAKE EDITS TO THE IMAGES, SUCH AS CHANGING THE COLORS, UN-WHITEWASHING, ETC., WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION. THAT IS THEFT FROM OTHER FANS. updates accounts like neocatharsis and wayvment simply reupload the original images posted by the entertainment company/idol in the exact same form without making changes to them. editors make alterations to the image and that new image is their own creative work, separate from the original one posted. you need the editor's explicit permission in order to use their edited version as a fic header.
i do all of my editing on my phone for my fics (except for the thin section dividers that i use, which i make in pirated photoshop cs6 so i can get specific dimensions, 540x2 pixels, and make the gradients super quick in a way that i know how to do. there may be a super easy way to do this w an app on ur phone too, that's just how i know how to)
anyway, if i have a photo that i really like, that i just knowwwww matches with the image of the guy in the fic in my head or smth, that i just rlly want to use but has a busier background, sometimes i'll use the portrait editing settings on my phone to blur the background a little bit and that makes the text a lot more legible (i have a samsung but im 99% sure iphones can do this too)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i typically don't bump it past 1 or 2, or the edges of the blur start looking a bit harsh, and i find that i don't really need more than this for the text to pop against the background anyway!
as for putting the text on the photos, i've the used the app phonto for years! it's completely free, doesn't put any watermark on your photos, comes with a bunch of fonts pre-installed, isn't super ad-heavy (it has a rlly small banner ad all the time at the top, and only shows u a skippable 10s ad when u save a finished photo), and you can download fonts from the internet to install straight into the app!
Tumblr media
my favorite free font website is dafont.com, i literally will spend hours just browsing on there looking at fonts to download lmao. anyway here's how i find fonts for stuff and download, install, and use them with dafont and phonto:
once you have phonto downloaded, open dafont.com
Tumblr media Tumblr media
up at the top, it has a bunch of different categories of fonts. for this example, i chose fancy > groovy, and then on this first page, i liked this font called "lostar" (there's also a search bar up there, but it only searches font names, not kinds of fonts, so if you're looking for a groovy-feeling font and you searched "groovy," only fonts with the word "groovy" in the name would come up)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i then press download, and open in my browser (i use firefox btw, which is why it looks like this lol). make sure you're opening the .zip file with the phonto app (it opens directly into into phonto on my phone, you may have to choose to open the .zip file using the phonto app from several options, instead of your phone's file explorer or some other app on your phone)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
in the phonto app, you have to click install, then install again (it gives you the option to rename it, but i just keep the original font name bc why would you rename it?).
that READ THIS.txt file is a message from the font maker, it's the personal use license for the font (most of the fonts on dafont.com are free for personal use ONLY, and these .txt files that are contained in the .zip files are notes from the font makers telling u what u can and can't use the fonts for. generally, as long as ur not a business, u should be good this is not legal advice, please read them. also there's usually little thank you notes from the font makers in here as well!)
Tumblr media
click ok.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
then you've got to slap some text on an image. you can choose an image from your camera roll, use one of their plain images, or open a pre-saved work-in-progress. for this example i used one of their premade gradients to make it easy
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
type whatever it is you want, click font. the left tab is the pre-installed fonts, the middle tab is the fonts that you've downloaded from elsewhere. here's the lostar we just got!
Tumblr media
oh can't see it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
there we go! how fun! i'll probably use this in a fic header in the future. download button in the top right.

((OUT OF CHARACTER POST.))
🍖🥩---WELCOME----🥩🍖
This is an active ask/in character blog for Danny St. John.
Asks will always be answered, I recommend giving genuine questions you may have regarding the St. John's, even small and simple ones. My answers will typically be 100% as accurate as possible with minimal headcanons, so have fun with it!
Remember:
Avoid the "likes" portion of this account if you are squeamish.
I do not like Danny as a person at all whatsoever. I don't condone, romanticize, excuse, or shrug off his actions. I enjoy him and his family at a writing standpoint, as well as a humor standpoint. It's fun to mock him and parody him, and it's fun to explore him and his family with other people. This is why this blog was started. By all means, Danny is a horrible disgusting person, and should not be looked up to or identified with by ANYONE.
P*doph*lic asks will not be answered. I refuse to respond in character to someone attempting to get Danny to creep on them or on any other minor for that manner, even if it's all fictional. If I've ignored your ask, it probably pushed my own boundaries.
I don't want my art reposted on any social media, including 3D work. Memes are free game as long as they aren't watermarked or claimed falsely. (AKA you don't HAVE to give credit, but don't claim credit yourself, capeesh?)
Danny is fictional. I am not Danny. Nothing he says, posts about, or likes reflects on my own opinions and beliefs. None of this account has any of my own personalization in it. I've set it up to reflect Danny and Danny alone. Fully characterized and ready for analyzing. Unless stated otherwise, everything should be taken as in character.
Everyone is allowed to be uncomfortable with something, even just a single character. No one is in the wrong for holding and following their own morals, or just having an unpleasant response to something they see. You're completely valid if you don't like this blog. I don't think any less of anyone that feels that way. Don't EVER attack or harass someone or argue with someone over their boundaries and personal dislikes, especially not on behalf of a loser that talks to a gun. He's really not worth it.
My DMs are open to anyone with OOC questions, comments, or concerns. DMS will always be OOC.//

Hey do you think you could link where you find your images? Crediting the artist goes for moodboards as well and even if you can't be 100 % sure about the op even a pinterest link is better than nothing /nm /reminder
hm. okay. this ask gets a complicated long answer.
before i state my response and opinion on this, i want to note i myself am an artist, and i’ve consulted many artists AND photographers on this topic, including my own father who is a professional artists and has to deal with stolen art CONSTANTLY.
straight up, i’m not going to be doing this. here’s why;
i have a hard strict rule that i will NOT use any art in its stereotypical meaning (drawn or painted) for any board. the ONLY exceptions to this is if it’s made by the requester, given to me by the requester, or are old / antique paintings. i also will not use a photo with a watermark because that clearly indicates they’re trying to profit off this photo, and don’t want it stolen.
with this, i only use pinterest for my moodboards and layouts. pinterest is viewed by a lot of people as free reign because 99% of it is reposted from somewhere else. is that okay? absolutely not but what can you do. most of it isn’t professional photography, simply random stock or pictures taken by normal people on their phone. half the photos on pinterest are posted by ad sites, or are stolen 99 times over. if you reverse image search an image i use, all that will show up is an avalanche of different pinterest links.
i’m not gonna be posting pinterest links because that feels like a bigger slap in the face than than no credit. that’s giving credit to someone who did not create it, which is even worse in my opinion than crediting nothing. that’s not better than nothing to me.
i will absolutely give credit if i know the explicit source of an image, that i will happily do. but if i don’t know the real source, i’m not. i am fully open and honest that NOTHING i post is my own except the formulation of boards and layouts, that i feel is enough. also finding the actual first explicit source of an image is near impossible when from pinterest.
l i have never seen any other moodboard account ever do this, so this isn’t like an overarching common sense rule i’m ignoring. also when you make a layout for your account, unless it’s art do you ever put link or photo credit? i have never seen that in my time on social media, and no offense anon i don’t think you do it either, no one does!
so TLDR; i’m not gonna be doing this. it seems more disrespectful than giving zero credit, and to me these images feel like they don’t need credit in general. if anyone has any other insight and opinions that side with why pinterest link credit should be given, please enlighten me, but i doing my opinion will change.
sorry if this disappoints you but! tis life!

Terms of Service
The Calamity Corner | Starlyte Studios
Digital Art Commissions
General Information
By purchasing a commission you agree to my terms of service and that you have read through them thoroughly. You also agree to not file any chargebacks regardless of the service used for payment.
Failing to thoroughly read and abide by my T.O.S. may result in denial of your request or a permanent ban from purchasing art from me, depending on the scale of the offense and/or repeat offenses. Please read through ALL my terms before placing a commission order in order to avoid any issues.
Please note that my T.O.S. may be updated, edited, or changed at any time. Please review my T.O.S. before every commission purchase.
If my T.O.S. changes during a commission piece, your piece will be put on hold and you will be notified of the change. Your piece will resume once you have responded to my message/acknowledged the change.
You are only purchasing a digital file - no physical print will be sent to you.
Finished commissions will be sent by email only.
You will receive a full-size render of your commissioned piece, plus a lower-resolution copy for posting online. I ask that you please only post the lower-resolution image if you want to share it online.
My signature must remain on all artwork commissioned.
No exceptions will be made. Removal of my signature on any pieces will result in the loss of your rights to the commissioned artwork, and I as the artist may use, resell, or redistribute the piece however I see fit.
Be sure to save a copy of the artwork on your computer, a USB drive, and/or other methods of storage.
I cannot guarantee the files sent will be able to be re-sent later in the future if you for some reason lose the files. I use email as a delivery method to hopefully avoid any issues with this, however I as the artist am not responsible for saving a backup of the files for you.
I as the artist reserve the right to cancel or postpone your order if I cannot complete the order at the given time, if I do not wish to draw it, or if you have been troublesome in any way to me or other artists. See Refunds and Cancellations for more information.
As an artist, my art is constantly evolving - this means that my style might vary between pieces in terms of color/sharing, line art style, composition, etc. vs what’s in my gallery for examples and what’s on my instagram. There’s not typically large differences, but be sure to check all the examples I have available as well as taking a look at my latest pieces either on Instagram or other social media pages.
Do not ask me to draw in a style that is not my own. If you commission me, do it because you like my art style - I will not draw in another artist’s style because their commissions aren’t open. I also will not draw in the style of anime or tv shows or games. Please be respectful to the artists you commission!
Please note that I only share WIP sketches upon direct request with reason.
I will show TWO (2) WIP images during the commission process.
(1) At the beginning of the process for overall feel of the piece & confirmation of the pose with flat colors (no lineart) for pieces that include color.
(2) Before the final piece is completed and sent.
WIP images will be low resolution and watermarked.
I’ll keep as close to the original colors as possible, however if you want me to use all of the exact colors, please include a color palette of every shade you want used and what it’s for in your request.
You must give clear details of the commission you wish to receive. See How to Order for more information.
Aight y'all now that it's disguised a little better, just ignore this, I'm RickRolling one of those Instagram commission scam bots by saying this is my TOS 🤣🤣 Artists, feel free to link this page to scam bots who reach out to you! XD
Here's the bitly shortened link for anyone interested!
https://bit.ly/3PoWwUx
I made sure that the preview wasn't suspicious so it works well even if the audio doesn't auto-play, the point gets across xD See how many bots fall for it and tell me the story in the comments if you use this! 🤣

Survey #336
"get back, you’re never gonna leave him  /  get back, you’re always gonna please him”
What were your favorite things to draw when you were a lil kid? When I was a very little kid, idk. But once I got into meerkats... I drew them like crazy. Do you think there is something with or around you, like a spirit, angel, ghost or something else? How does this make you feel? No. Imagine you’re a stranger looking at yourself. What things would immediately catch your eye? Ugh, let's not. When did you feel the most confident in your life? Probably my senior year of high school. I was happy with Jason with plans for the future together, I was doing excellently in school... I thought I was really going to go somewhere. Do you think love is needed to have good sex? For some people, no. For me, loving one another is an absolute must. Do you think, or want to, die in the city you currently live in? Fuuuuuuuck no, I hate it here. What is the strangest thing you have ever encountered? Probably when I was otw home from my doctor appointment and we passed a random guy in drag walking on the side of the street... That guy is an icon. Favourite soft drink? It's really strawberry Sunkist, but I love it to a degree I don't even allow myself to drink it, because I will fucking destroy that shit so quick. So I tend to just say Mountain Dew Voltage is my fave. What do you like to put gravy on? I hate gravy, period. Have you ever gone canoeing/kayaking? No, but it sounds fun. What is one thing you know about your family history you’re proud of? Uhhhh idk. Who depends on you the most? My snake. Are you related to anyone famous or historical, if so who? Yes; William Clark and Queen Victoria or Queen Elizabeth, idr which. Would you ever donate a kidney to anyone, and who? Mom. She only has one kidney, so, y'know. She kinda needs at least one. I wouldn't even hesitate. What is the main quality you think makes a great parent? Unconditional love. What three things do you think of most of each day? My weight is #1. Every second of every day, it, as well as Jason, are somewhere towards the front of my mind. The final is financial and job-oriented stuff. Does/did your high school have pop machines? It did. Do you know anyone who’s won the lottery? No. Have you ever slept in a water bed? Yeah. How often do you use Flickr? I pretty much abandoned my account; nowadays I only occasional check my friend's profile who works at the Kalahari Meerkat Project because she uploads wonderful pictures of the 'kats as well as gives interesting info about them! Who is the last child that you took a photo with? Mom took a picture of me holding my youngest niece Emerson because it surprised everyone; I NEVER hold babies. She crawled over to me and reached up though, so of course I was going to pick her up. How often do you wear hats? Never. Would you ever get a nature tattoo? Sure! Idk what, but I'm rather sure I'll get at leaast one. Is anyone in your family sick at the moment? No. Where do your siblings work, if anywhere? My older sister is a mammographer, and my younger sis is a social worker. Where is your favorite place to buy groceries? Wal-Mart, I guess. Who do you generally talk to the most? My mom. Is anyone saved in your phone under a nickname? Mom is "Mama Bear," and then my siblings are "Little Sister" and "Big Sister." Whose birthday is coming up? My lil sister has her birthday in April. Have you ever ordered from an informercial? No. When, where, and why did a needle last pierce your skin? I needed to get blood drawn for some testing. It was drawn from my inner elbow, obviously at the doctor. Have you been to an escape room? Was it a success? I never have, but it'd be fun. I enjoy puzzles. How many followers do you have on Instagram? I don't feel like checking. What’s the most recent music video you watched? Thoughts? "Mutter" by Rammstein. I picked a screenshot from it to draw, so I rewatched it to select one. It's a beautiful video, but also strange, which Rammstein is great at. Have you ever recorded a cover of a song? No. What makeup products are your go-tos? If I wear makeup, the bare minimum is black eyeliner. Are you going to school this year? No. I gave college as many shots as I could handle both sanity-wise and with finances in mind. I do NOT want to even ATTEMPT to imagine the debt I have after going to three different colleges and dropping out each time. What is your favorite water activity? I enjoy just kinda swimming around aimlessly, relaxing. What are your favorite video games? Okay, I talk about SH2 and SotC enough on questions like this, so I'll mention some others I really enjoy as well: the Silent Hill franchise in general, Spyro games, The Last Guardian, both The Evil Withins, The Last of Us, some Resident Evil games (the 4th in particular), etc. etc. I just love video games. Do you like jello? I enjoy the flavor, but the texture makes me squirm. When was the last time you gave someone "the finger?" Probably while riding in the car with Mom when a dumb motherfucker swerved into our lane. Or something like that, idr the exact occasion. Have you ever held a snake? Yesssss, I want to hold all the snakes. ;_; Most unique place you’ve ever been to? Uh. I guess maybe the Whirligig Park/"Acid Park" nearby us? It's just this large expanse of unique architecture that are mostly, as you guessed it, extravagant whirligigs. You've got to see it if you come to the town. I have some pictures on my deviantART if you wanna see a few pieces. If you were a superhero, what color would your cape be? NO CAPES! Have you ever slept out on your porch all night? Oh fuck no. I'd feel way, way too unsafe. Do you like horror movies? Yeah! What’s your favorite Coke product? Just normal Coke. Watergun or water-balloon war? Watergun. I don't like being hit with stuff. Do you know anyone that’s afraid of elevators? I kind of am. Is there anything in your room that belongs to a boyfriend, or a friend of the opposite sex? I have three plushies from Jason, Tyler, and Girt. My Marilyn Manson poster is also from Juan. Who’s your favorite Beatle? I don't know; I was never a big fan, so I don't know any of them as people well at all. Have you ever texted an ex whilst drunk? How’d that go? I've never been drunk, but no, I've never texted an ex because I was drinking. Do you have to stand on your tip-toes to kiss your boyfriend? I don't have one. The only instance where I had to do that was with Girt. Tall motherfucker. Have you ever been tackle-hugged? Yes. Those are the best. Have you ever rejected someone’s kiss before? Girt once tried to make out with me and I noped the fuck outta that situation. It was so fucking awkward. Is your mood or the overall tone of your day often affected by the dreams you had the night before? My nightmares definitely can. Do you think that there are any positive aspects or outcomes of suffering from a mental illness? If you have a mental illness, do you think it has changed you for the better in any way? I definitely believe my mental illnesses forced me to mature faster and also instilled a great sense of empathy in me. And don't forget emotional endurance. What is your opinion on celebrity culture and celebrity worship? Have you ever been guilty of putting a celebrity on a pedestal? Do you think it’s somehow more acceptable/understandable to obsess over certain types of celebrities (musicians over YouTubers, say) than others? At what point do you think an obsession like that crosses the line? It's dangerous and can be very blinding. An outsider could say I put Mark on a pedestal, but I've always been very aware that he's not perfect and really just another human, I just happen to love him a lot for the human he is, haha. As time's passed, my vision of him has become healthier though (not to say it ever reached the "unhealthy" threshold); it's gotten easier for me to judge him and stuff like that. I think an obsession crosses the line when you put on rose-tinted glasses to look upon someone and entirely ignore their flaws, or if you try to invade their personal lives, ex. being one of those creeps that loiter outside their houses and stuff. If you were to pursue a career in photography and had the opportunity and means to photograph whatever you wanted, what would most like to photograph? Ah, livin' the dream. If I had to choice and would be paid well regardless of focus, I would absolutely travel and photograph the local nature/wildlife. Is there a certain type of clothing (outerwear, activewear, loungewear, etc.) that you enjoy shopping for more than others? Shirts, 100%. Are you ever afraid to post your ideas, artwork, photography, etc. online for fear that they will get stolen or not credited? When it comes to OCs, yes, given that things have been stolen from me before. Photography doesn't worry me much because I don't think I'm good enough for someone to possibly want to steal it (and besides, I use a watermark), and I do the same for drawings. It's the unique characters I make I worry about being stolen if I share them. When is the last time you did something sexual? A few years back. Who is the last person you showered with, if anyone? I haven't showered with someone since I was a little kid and my younger sister and I would to conserve water. What do you think when you see roadkill on the side of the road? It really makes me genuinely sad, and I always wonder if it could have been avoided if the driver was more alert, slower, and thinking about more than the damage it could cause to their car... I enjoy photographing roadkill, brutal as it may be, out of respect for them and the desire to make their individual stories known and just kind of like, raise awareness of it. Too many people are just annoyed by hitting an animal versus more concerned. "Stupid deer," stuff like that. I sometimes worry that doing so can be interpreted as disrespect, to photograph and publish pictures of their corpses online, but I sure hope not. It's the least of my intentions. I just want people to see and care. Have you ever had an ex that just didn’t understand that it was over? Biiiitch I was that ex, 120%. But besides my situation with Jason, this was how Tyler was. I had to tell him about five thousand times to stop texting me. Are your fingernails currently short or long? They're always pretty short. Would you rather have big or small dogs? I like medium-sized dogs most. I'd have to pick large dogs between the two, though. What is your favorite sports drink? I'm not a fan of sports drinks. What was the last compliment you gave a guy? Yesterday, a guy in PHP shared two poems he wrote while hospitalized, and they were wonderful, so full of passion and emotion. I sure as hell told him they were amazing. He's going for his Master's for poetry, so he knows what he's doing for real. Does your jaw ever crack, pop, or lock? It's popped on very, very few occasions. Have you ever thought of how you would give your kids “the talk”? I don't want kids, so no, I've never thought of this. I certainly wouldn't wait for sex ed in school, though. I feel like it's a bit late. I feel children need to know what it's about at a younger age with how disgusting some people are... I want them to be informed on what consent and molestation are so they know to let Mama know so I can punch someone's face into a whole new galaxy if they're ever violated. Do you ever feel like you’re missing out on something? Oh, always. Do you ever write/draw on windows that are fogged up? I did as a kid, sure. Not so much now. If you were married, and your spouse’s parents became ill, would you let them move into your home? If they were truly sick enough to need assistance but not actual hospitalization, yes. I'd want my spouse to do the same for me. Have you screamed in a pillow before? Yyyyep. What do you like more, acoustic or electric? Electric. Did you actually have a cookie jar? We have a Santa one, though I don't even know if we ever used it versus just having it as a decoration. What’s worse, having someone mad or disappointed in you? Disappointed. What do you bite on more, your tongue, lip, or nails? Bottom lip. Do you think that knowing when and how you’re going to die would ruin your life? "Ruin" it seems a bit extreme, but I definitely wouldn't like it. Do you have a favorite bromance? From TV or a movie. Not really, if we're only talking those two options. Do you find flea markets and thrift stores enjoyable? Yeah, you really can find the coolest shit for great prices. What color is your wallet? Mostly red and white; it's a Harley Quinn design. Have you ever been somebody's photography subject? No. Nicki Minaj fan? I believe she's a very talented rapper, but I don't enjoy her actual music. I just don't like rap. Have you ever seen the Niagara Falls? No, I wish tho.

I just wanted to say that I saw your tweets to those two "fans" and you're right, there are social media laws lol to follow and while it's hard to remember them all the time, breaking them intentionally is wrong. I had seen one of those accounts post a lot of content from here and I didn't know the other was problematic as well so I appreciate you putting out the warning. I hope you have a good day and don't have to deal with this again.
Thanks, nonnie.
It was only one fan btw, the other fan in that convo was also a victim of the reposter (maybe that didn’t become fully clear bc the reposter deleted several of their tweets).
I mean, the funny thing is, that the reposter took a screenshot of my most recent Malex gif set here on Tumblr, and tweeted that at Vlamburn in one tweet, and at the official RNM account and the RNM writers room account in a second tweet.
When I asked them to take those screenshots down bc they were a screenshot of one of my gif set (which I had posted a gif of on Twitter btw), they declined. Their next argument: they’d taken the screenshot on Tumblr and it wasn’t my place to tell them to take it down. And I was like... OKAY??? 😂
They also claimed that there are no rules against taking screenshots and reposting stuff... 😒There’s no official rule or law, but there’s something like fandom courtesy and not being an asshole...
Ultimately, they deleted their tweets, but I see people repost things they saw on Tumblr quite frequently. And often there’s no credit, no link back to the original creator, nothing.
But even if there was a link back or the username still visible, that still doesn’t give anyone the right to repost someone else’s work. Especially not when people tag actors or TPTB in their reposts. Not everyone is comfortable with their fanworks being “exposed” like that.
Tumblr’s still by and large a “fandom only” space, a bit of a “safe haven” if you will (let’s all just ignore the fact that Vlamis likes to snoop around on Tumblr 😱). And many people who create things in fandom prefer that either their stuff isn’t exposed to actors at all, or they prefer to post things themselves.
I understand that people get excited when they see something cute or pretty someone else made, it’s still not their place to repost it. If someone desperately wants to repost something, they should ask first, AND IF THERE’S NO WAY TO ASK THE CREATOR, DON’T REPOST THEIR STUFF. It’s that simple.
I also often see people repost fanvids on Twitter - but not in the way you’d expect. They could just post a YT link to the video (it embeds on Twitter beautifully), no, instead they download the video from YT, trim the video to 2:20 minutes (maximum video length Twitter allows for upload) and repost it - and way too often without giving credit to the fanvidder.
That’s not cute, it’s not “flattering”, it’s fucking rude. Don’t steal other people’s stuff, and don’t repost it either unless you have permission to do so. It’s not rocket science.
GRRRRR
Sorry, got a bit carried away. Lots of things I post get reposted (always find it funny bc I often edit things so they fit here on Tumblr, and people take my altered screenshots and repost them elsewhere LitoISeeYouVillain.gif ;P ), and I don’t really mind all that much, the few things that are important to me are all watermarked, I just found it kinda hilarious that the reposter told me I couldn’t tell them to take down the screenshots bc they took the screenshots on Tumblr... :P
And just bc there was some confusion about what is deemed a repost a while ago: reblogging a post here on Tumblr is NOT a repost, that’s a reblog and helps artists and writers bc their content gets exposure. Same goes for retweeting something on Twitter. Embedding a YouTube or Vimeo video is also not reposting bc the original content is still on YT/Vimeo and accessible in one click.
A repost is taking a screenshot of something, or downloading someone else’s fanart or fanvid, and making a new post where this content is uploaded.
So please don’t be afraid of reblogs (or embedding videos), they are welcome and one of the really cool things about Tumblr. Reposting (especially to platforms like IG or Twitter where actors can be tagged) however, no matter how cute or great the content, please don’t do that without asking the OP first (and please make sure to ask whether they’re okay with actors being tagged).

Let me introduce you to my poison dart froggy :D Officially he is a Phantasmal Poison Dart Frog.
I drew this guy as my first exploration into Derwent Inktense pencils back in February 2012. He was just a practise sketch I had no intention of selling and I kept him. He currently sits in my loungeroom. As I am and always will be an avid blogger of my art and writing, here is the blog entry for this piece of artwork.
I’ve been watching the recent art theft in this fandom with sadness ::hugs to all of you who have been affected:: Many thanks to those of you who have stuck up for us all and gone into battle for us. I hate conflict, I’m crap at it, and to be honest at this point I’m rather jaded.
Why?
This guy has been with me for quite some time and he is a good example to work with because frogs are popular and I know exactly where the original currently sits. All of the images of this artwork come directly from whatever I put online. Froggy has been posted to social media, in particular Pinterest and he has been around for eight years.
Every now and then, I check on this guy in Google, to see who has appropriated him now. Because yes, he gets stolen all the time. He’s pretty, he’s vibrant and no one really gives a shit who owns him, they just steal him.
So prompted by our group’s recent issues, I thought I’d have another look.
I really shouldn’t have.
Tumblr media
Look at this adorably awful piece of graphic design. But do you know what is worse? It is a book for sale on Amazon. ::waves at author:: Hi, I’m your cover artist, thanks for letting me know. Look there is my signature in the bottom right corner, my little stylised Gumnut.
Of course, this is one of the worst and I’m toying with the idea of actually raising a ruckus, but there are always the other sites who love to run off with my stuff.
Blacktown Youth College
Oooh, look, someone threw him onto a Pokemon card
Randomly slapped up on Quora
Oooh, look, he’s now a video star (he appears at 13.11, but he also gets to be on the front cover
Here he is helping to actually sell dart frogs - and this guy steals artwork from everyone.
Now he is helping to teach Hindi
Aaargh, and there are so many more. He is all over the web and none of them link back to my desperately poor little self.
Why am I babbling about this? It sucks. It really, really sucks. I dread to look up my more recent artwork and to be honest, I have much better things to do with my time. With an online culture that just assumes it has the right to anything and everything it finds online, both the artistic and photographic communities take a massive hit. There is no appreciation for the work that has gone into a piece, no recognistion of ownership, much less credit.
Am I going to stop arting because of this?
No.
Why should I ruin my life because of them? Why should my fun be spoiled?
Can I stop them?
No.
People are going to do it anyway. Most of them don’t make any money off it, most of them are just ignorant. The book author, now that I might chase up. She’s making money off my stuff.
It royally sucks. I have no money. I’m not some big mega corporation with lots of lawyers and yes, they are royally shafting me. And most of all, I don’t have time to chase up every single piece of art I have ever created, I have better things to do with my life.
So what can you do to prevent this from happening to your artwork?
Sign your work, in a difficult position for it to be removed. Not like I did with my little gumnut above. But be aware, if anyone is really determined to break the law, they will. Photoshop is a thing. Heh, in some of my artwork I actually included my website address www.gumnut.net
Only upload smaller image files. I used to stick with around 700px. This is still printable, but only at small sizes. I don’t tend to go smaller because I like to have my art looking nice on my website.
Watermarks - I hate them, they ruin the artwork, but they are an option if you really want to use them. An appropriately placed signature may do a better job.
You can search for your images like I do using Google.
Go to your image on your website or blog and right click to get the image address. It might be easier to first open the image in a new tab all by itself, then get its address. The address should end in an image format like jpeg, jpg, png or gif.
Go to http://www.google.com and paste the image address into the search bar.
When the results list comes up you will also see an option at the top of the list ‘Search by image’. Click on it.
Tumblr media
It will give you three search types as a result.Scroll down the page to see all three search types.
The first one at the top will have a thumbnail of your image and will offer image sizes. Click on All Sizes to bring up a list of images across the web.
The second search is visually similar images which can be interesting, but is not as useful for what we are trying to do.
The third search, if you scroll down further lists ‘Pages that include matching images’. This is where you will find interesting stuff and where I found all those links above.
These searches rely on Google finding the images. if your image was posted yesterday, you are unlikely to find anything. But then if you are lucky then you won’t find anything anyway. I just checked a dragon painting of mine and the only images on the web are mine, yay! (And incidentatlly, Small Change Dragon was sold and currently resides in the UK :D)
Tumblr media
But anyway, this rabble, whatever it is, cos I woke up at 3am with this on my brain and it is now 5.45am, please don’t let these people ruin it for you. It’s sad, its wrong and it sucks, but please don’t stop arting because of it. If I did, I wouldn’t have any of the art or writing I have today. Are people still taking advantage of me, yes, can I do much about it, no, but why should a few a-holes ruin it for everyone else? Sure, we can deny the world our talents, and they won’t get our stuff. But then no one else will either.
Do I adore my fellow fans’ fanworks and fanfiction? God, yes! Please don’t stop creating because of a few nasty people. Don’t let them ruin it.
::lots and lots of hugs::

nullify part 4
an umbrella academy fanfiction // klaus hargreeves x reader
- part iv: the revealing file || part i ⋆ part ii ⋆ part iii ⋆ part v ⋆ part vi ⋆ more parts to be released
- synopsis: You had wanted to forget about the fire. Forget all of it. But then you were presented with a file on your life, given to you by a kid who knows all too well its contents. Looks like you were intertwined in something much bigger than you had ever expected all along, and you're only going to get intertwined even more.
- notes: so sorry this update took a while! i'm in my last few weeks of my university semester, and i'm busy with final essays. i'll try and get the next update out sometime next week but it could take a bit longer. however, I'll be back to a better and faster posting schedule in april. anyways this chapter is pretty five interaction heavy instead of Klaus, but i had to cut this one in half as it was getting too long, so they'll be more in the next part!! heavy trigger warning for mentions of abuse and fire.

“That was a bit dramatic, don’t you think?”
Letting out a loud scream at Five’s sudden appearance in front of you, surrounded in that ethereal blue haze, you decided he was the one being a dramatic little shit head. Even more so when he quickly went up on his toes and slapped his hand over your mouth to smother your voice before you could keep screaming and swear at him. You quickly jerked away, still reeling from the comment about the fire he had made only seconds before inside the apartment.
“Back the hell off or I’ll punt you down the hallway,” you threatened, flattening yourself against the wall beside the door, heart erratically pounding as you tried to calm your anxiety and the aggression fighting its way up.
“Calm down and just hear what I have to say.”
Calm down? Oh, he did not just fucking tell you to calm down.
“Hey hey hey, where are you going?” Klaus suddenly burst out from the now open apartment door, eyes flashing one side to the next until they landed on you. His taller figure stepped in front of you and he reached a hand out, placing it in a soothing gesture on your arm. His face was downturned in what looked like genuine concern. It was actually kind of nice of him, up until he said soothingly, “take a breather and calm down for a sec, yeah?”
You had to resist the unbelievable urge to stomp on his foot and then kick him in the nuts.
Closing your eyes and inhaling a deep breath through your nose, you whispered in reply so quietly through gritted teeth, “back away before I rip Five’s hand off and shove it up your—”
“Everything okay out here?”
Turning your attention to the large, blonde man taking up the entire frame of the doorway, you let out your held breath and opened your eyes. Five did as well, just as Klaus dropped his hand to his side, his eyes still never leaving you.
Your heart rate and initial anger had started to simmer down a bit at the continual tug and pull of the situations you kept finding yourself in, enough so that your curiosity of everything was starting to take hold once more. But you were still reluctant to step back into that apartment. Your trust was wary, at least in the case of some of them. Right now, you only trusted Klaus. He had been a loud and obnoxious pain in the ass, but hell, he hadn’t tried to hide anything from you and had basically answered most of what you assumed he could. If anything, he had overshared. You wished you could forget the story he had told you on your walk over here. He had way too vividly description how once on impulse he had bitten into a live koi fish he saw in a pond in order to ward off a loan shark across the way coming to collect money. What was worse, it actually worked. At least until they sent another guy a half an hour later.
“Go back inside, Luther. You to Klaus,” Five directed.
Turning your attention back to the toddler in command as he spoke, you quickly shifted your gaze back towards Klaus as he inevitably went to argue, stepping towards his brother with an exasperated look on his face. You reached out to gently grab his shirt. “Just go inside.” You needed to figure out how exactly Five knew about the fire, and just how extensively the details he knew went. It wasn’t exactly information you wanted out in the open, and though you trusted the curly haired brother the most in the family to an extent, it still wasn’t enough. No matter who you had trusted in your life, it had never been enough to openly discuss what had happened.
Klaus snapped his mouth closed in an uncertain grimace, his unnaturally comforting green eyes flickering as he tried to read your suddenly emotionless expression. You released some of the tension in your shoulders and heaved a breath. “Seriously, It’s fine. But if you hear glass shattering just know I’ve thrown him out the window.”
“I’d like to see you try.”
Bending to the side to look at Five who stood directly behind Klaus, you raised an eyebrow in challenge. “Come here then, preppy.”
Five crossed his arms over his chest and sighed, glancing down the hall at nowhere in particular. Clearly, his patience was running thin. Good.
Luther didn’t even bother to stick around and watch the show, unlike the unmistakably entertained Klaus. He just wordlessly turned back around into the apartment, leaving the door wide open for Klaus to follow.
“Okay, fine. Just don’t tell them all the fun bits without us, brother dear. It’ll be too priceless to miss.” Klaus settled on saying, departing back into the apartment, flashing his cheeky grin as he did.
You turned towards Five once you heard the familiar click of the closed door, grabbing his arm as you tugged him further away from the door in case there were any eavesdroppers. “You shouldn’t know about the fire. The entire story didn’t even hit the news.”
He shrugged your grip away easily. “And who do you think covered it up?” He bit back, a pressing look in his eyes.
What exactly was he implying? The little dude was kind of freaky—less of a kid than what he looked like— but he would have been the exact same age as you when it happened. Ten. As capable as he seemed now, you highly doubted he could have been able to suppress what had happened in the media. Allison possibly could have with her powers, but even then, there were so many people coming and going throughout that morning that you would have caught sight of her. The Umbrella Academy wasn’t even in the same city as you, for Christ's sake.
“Are you implying that it was covered up, or that somehow you had something to do with it?”
You could have been wrong, but a sort of half satisfied tick tugged his lips up the tiniest bit. But instead of a reply, he vanished again in a blink of an eye. You were really starting to hate his power. Letting out an aggravated huff, you twisted around slightly as if somehow you would find him dramatically down the hall, but he was back in a literal flash in under ten seconds, except this time he had a file in hand. He handed it to you, stating, “I found this in Hargreeve’s office. Read for yourself.”
And with that little cryptic introduction, you gave a speculative glance before gently taking it into your own hands, slight hesitance overtaking you as you flipped it open.
You didn’t know what you were expecting, but it certainly wasn’t this.
The first thing that caught your attention was a picture of you at twelve years old, miserable in an oversized black hoodie, paperclipped to a copy of one of the social service identification documents used by your old foster caseworker. Once you flipped that over, you found and skimmed through written reports, Reginald’s familiar insignia watermarked at the top. In them detailed everything; everything you knew, everything you had assumed, every plot hole in your entire story.
Reginald had known where you were this whole time. He’d kept a watchful eye on you, and you had no doubt he had similar files on all the other babies he had never been able to get his hand on. One of the reports detailed the first time your force field had popped up. You were in kindergarten and some kid had been chasing you with those barely sharp baby scissor that couldn't even cut through shitty quality construction paper. In your instinctual fear, the blue bubble surrounded you and five-year-old Jimmy bounced right off of it, tumbling two feet away, landing on his wrist and snapping the bone.
No one had seen, other than the teacher who had immediately looked terrified and sent you to the office, rushing you there herself. When she dropped you off, the counselor intervened and talked to you, and by the next day, your teacher had basically all but ignored the fact it had ever happened. The kid’s broken wrist was simply explained away as him tripping on the floor. No one would believe a five-year old’s account of what had actually happened anyway.
The councilor, as detailed by Hargreeves, was an onlooker hired by him to keep tabs on you if anything like this had ever happened and to make it go away. It seemed there had always been someone hired in your school to do just that. To watch. To report. Intervene when necessary.
Then there was the report on the fire. It described how your mom had gotten up in the middle of the night to go to your room, leaving your dad asleep in his own bed. It continued to detail how she poured gasoline from your doorway to your bed, striking a match and dropping it so the flame would trail up towards you. Police documented pictures were attached of your black and charred bedroom, all your childhood objects nothing more than undistinguishable ash. They never did find your dads body in there, but from how everything had been destroyed, you had no doubt he was simply mixed into all the rubble and debris that had once made up their entire family home which crumbled in a single, terrible night.
The police report detailed all of this as well, in addition to your mother’s capture and arrest, which he somehow managed to get a copy of for his invasive file. But it lacked the details Hargreeves inevitably figured out. How could a child survive such a destructive event? You had walked out with nothing more than a severe burn mark on your leg, while your father who tried to rescue you instead of getting out had literally been caught in the crossfire. They had interviewed you, but you kept quiet. But Reginald knew it was your force field. He wrote about how he paid off multiple people to cover this up and make it seem as if it had never happened. Not for your sake, however. It was just so you would never come across someone who wanted to use your powers against his children. Like Five, he speculated that the force field could extend far past what you had always thought. It could render all his ‘projects’ useless. And he couldn't have that.
You closed the file without looking at the other pictures and papers littered within it. You couldn’t stand to look at it anymore. It would have just detailed every other moment in your life like a statistical, emotionless biography.
“I’m sorry about your father,” Five spoke, breaking through your reeling thoughts. You tried to stop the bile rising to the back of your throat.
“Who else has seen this?” You whispered, clutching it tightly to your chest as you met his eyes.
“Just me, as far as I know.”
You nodded your head, taking a second the inhale and exhale and suppress it all as you had most of your life. You slipped the file into your bag, stating without room for argument, “I’m keeping this.”
He tilted his head in affirmation, replying, “I expected as much.” Quiet again, you took just a bit longer to try and collect your emotions, turning your face away to look anywhere except the kid who knew more about you than anyone else. It was unnerving. Even more so as he actually seemed at least a bit sincere when he continued with, “I am sorry. But what we need you for, it’s more than this. More than all of us. I had to look at every single option wherever I could, and right now, you’re that option.”
You could take some solace in that. Five, you had come to figure out, was all business. He had a scientific mind, looking at everything as steps to get to a singular goal. He wouldn’t do anything malicious or invasive for fun. Well, at least he wouldn’t unless it got him to whatever goal he had in mind.
“You keep this to yourself, and I’ll listen to whatever plan you have in mind.”
Maybe you would regret it, maybe you wouldn’t. But the Hargreeve’s were clearly desperate for something—for help. You could respect that.
“I also won’t toss you out the window no matter what it is.”
That got a smile out of the little bugger, and an affirmative agreement of, “deal.”
Pushing yourself slightly from where you had withdrawn against the wall, you started to make your way back to the apartment, Five keeping stride beside you. Just as you were about to open the door, he asked, “so, are you going to tell me why you brought a clock with you as a weapon?”
“Nope.”
Five laughed. The bastard actually laughed at something you said. A small, breathy one that really was only a quiet huff presented with a smile, but it was a laugh nonetheless. “Alright then.”
Well, maybe this wasn’t going to be so bad after all.
Then you walked into the living area and immediately realized that it was actually going to be far worse than just ‘bad’.
“Are you wearing a G-string?”
Holding his pants in his hand, with what looked like coffee or tea dripping from them and on to the plush white carpet, Klaus turned towards you from where he had previously been glaring at an equally as annoyed looking Luther, a sly smile morphing his face instead. Slightly popping his hip coquettishly, he replied in a faux sultry tone, “why yes, I am. You like?
You shrugged, dropping your bag into the couch, already becoming desensitized to his odd and unexplainable behaviors. “Honestly, I’m just happy to know you wear anything under those pants at all.”
