↪you two were the absolute worst when it came to completing paperwork. you would most often zone out and that's fine but then dazai would encourage you to join in with his antics a little too easily.

↪energy practically bouncing off eachother as you two always seemed to have endless amounts. especially when it came to be childish at work.

↪dazai would also offer you his hands to fiddle with should you need to. he found a comfort in it, even if you zoned out half way through as you still did it subconsciously.

↪but should the time ever need you to fully pay attention, you bet he's great at helping you stay focused and on track.

akiko yosano ★↷

↪the absolute best for this sort of thing. she probably knows more about adhd than you do, so is very good at helping you out especially being so sweet with it.

↪short attention span that affects your work? she's got ten different methods to help ready. cant sit still for too long? she'll happily walk around and keep you company.

↪she finds your childishness rather endearing as you do rarely take it too far and she thinks it's rather cute sometimes. surprisingly loves your company in her office guaranteed she has no patients.

ranpo edogawa ★↷

↪you both are very similar in some regards. you both find it hard to hold your attention span on pretty most everything. and you both can be rather childish which then in turn seems to bounce off one another.

↪making both of your productivities go way down. but it's not like anyone can complain as you both eventually get stuff done.

↪however one thing that ranpo couldn't stand sometimes was when you got extremely bored and started hiding his things. more specifically his sweets - not eating just hiding.

↪but he never stayed angry for long as he often got them back and he really just couldn't stay mad at you.

chuuya nakahara ★↷

↪at first your childish nature did remind him of an old partner... a rather annoying one but you were different. he could actually stand your traits and find them endearing sometimes.

↪he enjoyed your antics sometimes as he always enjoyed seeing you so happy. however he also knew how to get you to focus when needed.

↪would also be more than happy to lend you his hands when he's near to fiddle with. he found it rather relaxingand you enjoyed fiddling with them so it was a win win.

ryunosuke akutagawa ★↷

↪he never really could keep up with your energy. he really didn't understand how you had so much so often and so often just let you do your thing and he'd do his.

↪ sometimes you would get bored and decide to hang around him. unintentionally annoying him but due to his own thing and he'd sort of try and make you stay still - ultimately failing.

↪would hate it should you zone out somewhere that put you in danger. always lightly scolding you for it. eventually became an expert at stopping you zoning out.

edgar allan poe ★↷

↪ another one that could often be stumped with your seemingly never ending energy. never being able to keep up with you and your childishness.

↪but he always found it rather endearing and would always watch you with a fond smile. karl also became a victim to your boredom as he cured it quite well.

↪ initially didn't know what to do when you zoned out as nothing seemed to break your trance but eventually snapped you out of it.

↪ always looked for ways to help you in day to day activities you may struggle with. but loved how openly childish and silly you always were.

↪can't keep up with your energy part 3.

↪he has no clue how you have so much energy practically all the time. he admires it but is more confused than anything. that doesn't mean he doesn't like it.

↪he loves how childish you can be, especially because if it's in a more private location he can also indulge in you activities and feel free in a way.

↪his hair would make for a great distraction. and he happily let you play with his hair when you got bored or fidgety. he probably zones out with you.

nikolai gogol ★↷

↪another one that bounces off your energy. you both radiate such childishness and silly behaviour that it fuels the over to the point the other is practically encouraging the other to do more.

↪loves every little quirk that comes with your adhd. he either helps you with some or completely makes it worse by encouraging more childish behaviour.

↪ another to gladly lend you his hands to fiddle with. that or his cloak. especially because no matter how far away he can always offer you his hand.

Reader rushing to clean the mess up even with his bare hands and out of concern, the character yells at them to be careful or smth and reader flinches? How would they react? When Reader flinches after they yell

♡ characters: Doppo Kunikida, Fukuzawa Yukichi, Chuuya Nakahara, Edgar Allan Poe, Ranpo Edogawa (bonus Ranpoe together!), teenage!gn!Reader

♡ synopsis: Reader breaks a piece of flatware and when they go to clean it, they're yelled at and flinch. How do the characters react to this?

♡ cw: Reader suffers from domestic abuse-related trauma and has daddy issues, yelling, trauma response (specifically a kind of silent/blunt affect type reaction), swearing, mentions of reader's hands being cut (unintentionally by flatware shards), father and older brother figure dynamics, lmk if I missed anything

note: I hope you're doing alright 💙 Anon, and I hope that these make you feel better :') come to me for hugs if you need them. I also hate yelling and have daddy issues so like, I feel you my dude. Kunikida:

Let's say you're a mentee of his at the agency. Kunikida obviously only has good intentions and would hate for you to get hurt (Yosano...*shiver*), so he kinda freaks out a little when he sees you about to grab ceramic shards with your bare hands

Caught up in his alarm, he yells at you not to touch the shards and then goes to get a broom (or one of those little dustpan things) to clean up the mess

He comes back and sees your expression, and is honestly a little confused at first. You did manage to stay out of harm's way so he doesn't understand what's got you so distressed (he's so smart but also so very dumb)

You sit there while he quickly cleans the mess but when he notices that your eyes have kind of glazed over and you seem to be somewhere else, he gets a little worried and asks if you're alright

You tell him that you got frightened when he yelled because it reminded you of something and he has a moment of '...shit'

Kunikida puts down his dustpan/broom, puts a hand on your shoulder and gently explains that he wasn't mad at you but that he was just worried about you. He'd rather you made a mess unharmed than cleaned up the mess but gotten hurt

Don't be fooled by his calm demeanour, he actually feels really bad and will probably beat himself up for making such a mistake

He does end up cleaning it for you and asks you to please take care of yourself and be careful

Fukuzawa:

He has an odd tendency of being very intense with his kids out of the blue and then immediately feeling bad for it which is exactly what happens with you

You were probably bringing him tea or something when you accidentally dropped the tray and the cup shattered. He probably barely even reacted at all to it honestly, mostly just because he doesn't care THAT much about a cup. He has more

But then you apologise and kneel down to get them and this man might be tough but he is a softie at heart and panics when his kids are in harm's way (you're basically his kid let's be real)

So he yells, and it's basically that one scene in the theatre from Untold Origins all over again, except unlike Ranpo he knows that you don't really shake such things off so easily due to your past. So he's still concerned just for different reasons

He knows that as a father figure in your life he's supposed to protect you and that he had good intentions but it still affected you negatively in a way, and he's like. Really really sad about that fact (but he doesn't show it awh)

He apologises for yelling and asks you not to try and clean up ceramic shards with your bare hands because infections and y'know your hands are a pretty important part of your body

Fukuzawa is still firm as he speaks but he's also very gentle and nice about the whole thing and sits with you until you feel better

If you thank him for looking out for you, he'll be thinking about that for like the next week :'((((

Chuuya:

Chuuya yells like, a lot, but he often makes a conscious effort not to do so around you because he knows that you don't like it. Being a habit though, it sometimes comes out unintentionally

So say you're bringing him something to eat while he's working or something and while you're approaching him you drop and shatter the plate.

He's like 'Oh let me get that' and was gonna grab the shards with his ability (he doesn't have an issue with doing it himself cus it's lowkey quicker), but then he sees that you're about to collect them barehanded and yells at you to stop

When he sees you flinch he immediately starts backtracking like 'Wait, no- that's not what I meant' and comes to kneel beside you and pat you on the head (or back, whichever)

He quickly composes himself and apologises, saying that he was just worried about you, not angry about the plate or you wanting to clean it.

He tells you that he's gotten cuts on his palms before and they 'hurt like a motherfucker' so he didn't want you to get hurt too (and he's kinda being jokey about it because he's nice like that)

He just exudes comfort energy, so your panic moment doesn't really last that long. He's honestly very chill about the whole thing because he knows that you're not gonna make the same mistake

Even if you did though he'd help bandage your cuts without hesitation

Poe:

Poe is the opposite of Chuuya- he just DOESN'T yell at all. That's why it caught you as offguard as it did

When you dropped the plate he was a little scared because of the loud noise, but was relieved to see that you hadn't gotten hurt.

He really doesn't care much about a broken dish, because he can buy a billion more with ease. He just cares that you were about to hurt your hand (I'm quite sure you can possibly injure nerves by cutting your palm, and as a murder mystery writer Poe would absolutely be aware of this)

So he yells in an attempt to get you to quickly stop when you kneel down to clean it, and when he sees your face he feels awful

Poe hates yelling too, so he is extremely apologetic about the whole thing. He feels really bad because he knows that you find a lot of comfort with him and he's scared he's just ruined your trust in him to keep you safe

You tell him that you know he wasn't trying to be mean or malicious but he still feels really bad about it (lowkey you end up comforting HIM ngl)

He decides to clean up the mess himself (and lets you cuddle Karl while he does because he's basically an emotional support animal)

Will literally do anything to get you to trust him once more because he feels such an unnecessary amount of guilt (you have to really hammer it into him that you DO still trust him- he doesn't entirely believe you (projecting sorry lol))

Ranpo:

Ranpo is the Super Highschool Level Older Brother Figure. And as such he is appropriately concerned when he sees that you're about to try and handle a broken plate with bare hands

I'm absolutely certain that several times in the past Ranpo's dropped his fair share of dishes and gotten cuts from trying to pick them up too fast and he doesn't want that happening to you

So he yells to you not to touch them. When he sees your reaction to this, for a split second he panics but he actually handles it surprisingly well for a (2)6 year old

He comes over and sits down beside you. Then he explains to you that he doesn't want you to get hurt unnecessarily (especially somewhere like your hands) because he cares about you, so he panicked for a second and that's why he yelled.

(to everyone's surprise /j) he does apologise to you for it and give you a hug to help ground you and comfort you (he also gives you a little squeeze cus he feels bad aw)

If you ask him if he's mad about the broken dish he immediately goes back to normal and is like 'Pfft not at all. It's a plate Y/N' and tells you not to worry about it

He does make you feel better about the broken plate, but this is Ranpo we're talking about. You think he's gonna clean it up, or even help you clean it? No, that job unfortunately still falls entirely on you (damnit Ranpo)

Except this time you take cautionary measures before you do so. And Ranpo's happy to see it :)

Ranpoe:

Right, so these two are just little children in the bodies of men in their late twenties. However they are still very much in touch with their dad sides especially when it comes to you

So you're carrying a plate for some reason (maybe they're busy solving mysteries and eating snacks idk) but you drop it and it breaks. Poe's a millionaire and Ranpo is Ranpo so they don't care that they have one less plate

Then you hurriedly apologise to them and bend down to grab the plate and they both overreact and yell at you to stop (for the same reasons written above in their seperate scenarios)

Once they see you flinch they both have different reactions. Poe rushes over to see if you're alright but Ranpo is more wanting to give you a second to breathe and process

And that's literally what happens. Poe (and Karl) rushes over to check on you and Ranpo waits a minute before he joins him.

Ranpo comes to comfort you while Poe gets rid of the broken plate, then when he comes back he helps Ranpo explain why they both yelled earlier. He lets Ranpo do most of the talking though

They both express that they're just glad you didn't get hurt. And that you're allowed to make mistakes! Just don't do anything that will get yourself hurt

Will let you help them with their work/watch them work if you want to (usually that stuff's confidential but hey it's not like people are gonna question Ranpo and Poe now is it)

Just got back from watching the Barbie movie a second time and just. I love how deliberate everything about it feels. how even the jokes have a point. the gags with the CEO where his own self-importance and incompetence highlight each other perfectly.

Will Farrel commiting to climbing over and through a cubicle because he had the idea that it would be faster, meanwhile Margot Robbie's Barbie escapes? The way Allan's scene trying to use a chair to hop over a much shorter fence parallels and contrasts it because he listens when the Barbies tell him to just go around? (of course only after struggling a little bit more ily Allan)

This movie highlights at every turn how ego is an enemy to accomplishment and growth. We even see it in Ken's line where he says that he lost interest in Patriarchy once he found out it wasn't about horses—really that entire scene where he and Barbie finally talk is an ode to the harm that pride and especially ego can lead to.

Had the Kens supported each other instead of being catty and competitive, then Ryan Gosling's Ken wouldn't have been hit so hard with the loss of his biggest self-identifier.

This film is about actualization and humanity, about the importance of individualism, the death of ego, the fact that pride can exist without it. When the Nobel Prize winning Barbie says, "Thank you, I deserve this, I've earned it," that's pride without ego. She isn't saying, "I deserve this, and you don't." She's acknowledging that her skill has brought her to where she is, unlike the CEO or the Kens when Kendom was formed.

This movie is about so, so, so many things. It's about the struggle of womanhood, and acceptance, and objectification, and "the sisterhood," that Gloria speaks of, and the way Sasha has already learned to put other girls and women down by the age of twelve. It's about so many things all at once, and it does a wonderful job balancing it all.

Some of the 'explanations' regarding Mike's actions from Milkvan's don't make much sense to me.

1- Mike acts weird around Will because they have not talked for months and Mike was focused on El.

Firstly, this doesn't make much sense to me. Ok, let's say that Mike was focused on El so much that he ignores his friends. But he cannot even give a proper hug to them? Like, what? I would have understood his actions, him focusing on El makes sense, but why would he have brushed off his friends around him (Will in this case) and cannot even bother to give a proper hug??? How's that make any sense? It would make any sense if the person Mike doesn't want to hug 1- was his ex-boyfriend/girlfriend and he didn't want El to misunderstood things, or 2- He had a thing going on with that said friend, and that's why Mike didn't want to hug him (Will) in front of El.

Honestly, there is no other decent explanation for this. You don't literally brush off your friend and don't want to hug them just because you are focused on your date. It just doesn't make any sense... unless, you know, there's something else going on.

2- Mike cannot say ily to Eleven because of his parents/he is shy

As most people have already pointed out-- there is no indication of this. I really would understand if Mike was truly being shy or got affected by his parents' actions, but like... as El also said, he cannot even write 'ily'. Why he cannot even write it?

Also, why does the plot make this so freaking important and dramatic in the first place? That means there is something else going on behind Mike's actions. They have been dragging this plot for ages now, if it was truly just about him being 'shy' or bc of his 'parents' they could indicate it in a different way. But they made it seem like there was another reason behind it. Honestly, it Duffers are planning this huge 'ily' declaration from Mike to El, and that's why they have been dragging this plot point for ages, it really would be so disappointing. The most possible and logical explanation from a writing standpoint would be Mike coming to the realization that, while he cares deeply for El and loves her-- he doesn't love her romantically.

3- Mike acts rude to Will because Mike has always been rude anyway

Mike has always been 'rude' but we, as the viewers, have to consider his actions and the reason behind them. All the times he has acted ''rude'' to someone else, there was a reason behind those actions. So, Mike just decided to distance himself from Will (he cannot even hug him??) because he just wanted to? What's the reason behind this action. Honestly, this comes to the first point-- if he's acting this way just because El is there, honestly, it makes no sense. You can focus on your gf and still hug your best friend. It's not like that best friend in question is your ex or your crush that El could potentially get jealous of. Mike's this change is supposed to be there for the audience to notice and think about it. Else, why the writers would decide to add such a plot point in the first place.

4- Will is acting weird just because he doesn't want to grow up

Yeah, when I don't want to grow up, I look at my best friend in such a dreamy and admiring way in order to remember my 'childhood', and want to gaze at him adoringly in order to 'stay as a kid'.

I would understand this 'Will doesn't want to grow up' theory but honestly, at this point from the way Will acts and just looks at Mike, it is very obvious he likes the guy lol. Also, the other scenes literally point out Will's sexuality (a pretty girl in his class outright flirts with him, he rejects her and ignores her advances). These types of scenes are there on purpose. They are meant to indicate something about Will. Will's project is about Allan Turing, a gay British man from the past. Alan freaking Turing is his childhood hero! C'mon guys! Writers specifically chose Turing to be Will's hero for a reason!

This is not about just some childhood thing anymore. It's pretty implicit that Will is gay. If he doesn't come out, honestly, then yet again it will be bad writing. Still, he'll be a queercoded character even if we don't get an open coming out because all of his characterization and proofs point out to Will being gay.

5- Will will come out but Mike will reject him because he is straight and is in love with El

If this happens then I truly want to ask Finn about his acting choices because lmao. Even Milkvans admit that his acting in his scenes with Eleven is weird and that Mike feels very 'empty' about the scene (their fight about Mike not being able to say or write ily) when Millie is giving all of her heart to the scene. And honestly, connecting these types of scenes together with the other ones, it honestly is obvious where Mike's character is probably going.

Also from a writing standpoint, why the writers would drag Will's love for Mike for all these years if it will just be 'unrequited'. Just for the angst and to make Will this 'little sad gay boy who has a one-sided crush on his straight friend but that straight friend ignores him for his gf' plot? This doesn't make any sense. If Will came out earlier on and was given a boyfriend, I honestly would be fine with that storyline for Will. Characters like Robin and Max all got added later on. But honestly, dragging Will's crush on Mike for years only for him to come out in season 4 or 5 to be rejected by his 'straight' friend is just a very weird choice IMO. It would also bring out so many questions about Mike's actions and other points I've written. It would literally be queerbaiting for me. Because even though Will comes out as gay, it still doesn't explain several choices for Mike's character. It would seem like they just brush off all the coding for Mike's character in order to make the heteronormativeness canon, and not make the gays thrive. It would play right into the 'sad gay boy having a sad crush on his straight bff' trope, which is not good. There were so many ways to make Will gay and come out without adding that tired trope.

6- Mike and El has been the main ship for seasons and breaking them up would erase that development

Honestly, I gotta disagree. There are many ships in the media that got together (and has been seen as the 'main ship' for many years) but didn't become an end game. Considering all the build-up, it honestly would make sense if Mike and El break up. If this all leads to a 'big love declaration' from Mike to El and they decide to stay together, honestly it would set their characters back in one go. If there was a proper point for Mike to say 'ily' it would have been before El became a ''superhero'' again. It still doesn't explain the reason behind Mike's not even writing love you to El, nor the other plot points in the show.

If you have other reasons to add here please do so. Honestly, I am usually a pessimistic person, and critical of the potential 'queerbaiting' and 'heteronormativeness', but all the things considered I honestly cannot see any ending than Byler.
