#incorrect queen of the south
Me hace sentir vivo, me siento mortal. Sólo puedo sentirme triste porque antes estuve muy feliz. Lo malo y lo bueno vienen juntos, lo que siento ahora es cómo una tristeza feliz.

NAHIDA HAS NO REASON TO BE WHITE. heres WHY
the reason why i'm making this post is because i am SICK and TIRED of seeing OTHER PEOPLE fight for MY CULTURE in the most INCORRECT WAY POSSIBLE. "nahida rcta queen!", "why are you blackwashing her?", "she switched teams!" all these comments and more under artists' posts that decided to give her melanin.
artists are just giving back her melanin as she is based off a culture with people who have dark skin. this is not racist. this is literally the opposite. i understand if a character already has an established skin colour that's apart of their character (ex. ei or zhongli) though with nahida this makes no sense.
i am indian, do NOT come after me. sumeru is based off of MY culture. i know what i'm talking about. a good 70% of sumeru is based off hindu culture, it's based off south asia.
more of my yapping:
Tumblr media
you all need to shut the hell up about saraswati and how nahida is based off saraswati because saraswati's description is saying "shes as white as the moon" and nahida is white. you ALL need to BE QUIET ABOUT THAT.
this is saraswati, for reference:
Tumblr media
saraswati is not ever mentioned in genshin impact. NOT ONCE. but, the aranara call rukkhadevata queen aranyani. aranyani is a very obscure hindu god known for taking care of the forest and dancing n stuff
Tumblr media
THIS IS WHAT NAHIDA AND RUKKHADEVATA ARE BASED OFF OF. NOT SARASWATI. the only thing that saraswati and nahida (+ rukkha) have in-common is that other than being white and based off a hindu goddess
saraswati isn't even white, the pale as the moon thing refers to a godly glow. so even IF nahida and rukkha are based off saraswati, hoyo does NOT HAVE ANY REASON TO MAKE THEM WHITE SINCE SHE ISNT EVEN WHITE. she has a GODLY GLOW.
literally the only excuse nahida has for being that pale is that she's the avatar of irminsul (a white tree) HOWEVER. they didn't need to make her THAT pale. if they wanted to make her pale skin they should've added more colors like pinks and purples and blues like the actual irminsul
Tumblr media Tumblr media
as you can VERY CLEARLY see, they did not do that. they did not even try to take this route.
everything could have been fine if they did take this route or make her eyelashes white and say she's albino if they really wanted her to be white. but they didn't.
indians can be pale, YES. but they aren't this paper caca toothpaste looking ass WHITE like how nahida is. REPRESENTATION FOR SKIN COLOUR MATTERS TOO. ITS NOT JUST THE CULTURE THEY'RE BASED OFF OF.
anyway thanks for coming to my yapping session. i love talking about my culture 👍 desi nahida layouts are here if you want to see :)

I’m just about done with finals, so I decided to gather up a quick list of over 50+ different POC women characters with actual good stories and character development as well as what they’re in, since you guys seem to be complacent in accepting mediocrity🥰
I know there are A LOT more REALLY GOOD characters out there, like Firebird from Marvel for example, but these are all characters from media that I either have personally consumed or know a lot about that I can think about off the top of my head. So if anyone wants to keep the list going in the comments, please feel free to add on
Charlotte- Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story
Shuri- Black Panther (MY LOVE😭❤️)
Okoye- Black Panther
Nakia- Black Panther
Queen Ramonda- Black Panther
Katara- ATLA
Korra- LoK
Toph- ATLA
Azula- ATLA
Beauregard- Critical Role: Campaign 2
Fy’ra Rai- Critical Role: Exandria Unlimited
Opal- Critical Role: Exandria Unlimited
Deni$e- Critical Role: Campaign 3
Deanna- Critical Role: Campaign 3
Lady Kima: Critical Role: Campaign 1/ Legends of Vox Machina
Laerryn: Critical Role: Exandria Unlimited: Calamity
Veth Brenatto- Critical Role: Campaign 2
Mirko- My Hero Academia
Ahsoka (people refer to her as a POC character even though she’s a Togruta)
Moana
Mulan
Tiana- Princess and the Frog
Esmeralda- The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Nani- Lilo and Stitch
Raya- Raya and the Last Dragon
Mel- Arcane
Ambessa Medara- Arcane
Sevika- Arcane
(Special shout out to Ekko from Arcane because he’s SUCH A GOOD CHARACTER)
Storm- Marvel comics
Wonder Woman- DC comics (she is Mediterranean, which is located in the North Africa/ Europe/ West Asia region, for the incels who are going to try to fight me on that. Just because your skin has less melanin than people “think you should have” does not invalidate you being a POC)
Nubia- DC comics
Special shoutout to General Nanisca in The Woman King. I have not watched it yet, but I’ve heard a lot of great things
Valkyrie- Thor Ragnarok
Gamora: Guardians of the Galaxy (though, she’s not human, she’s a Zen-Whoberis, but her actress is Dominican and Puerto Rican)
Ava Silva- Warrior Nun
Sister Beatrice- Warrior Nun
Sister Lilith- Warrior Nun
Deyha- Genshin Impact
Candace- Genshin Impact
Xinyan- Genshin Impact
Janai- The Dragon Prince
Ursula- Once Upon A Time
Mulan- Once Upon a Time
Lucyna “Lucy” Kushinada- Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
Mermista- She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
Catra- She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
Lonnie- She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
Netossa- She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
Entrapta- She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
Perfuma- She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
Mara- She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
Frosta- She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
(All of whom are Etherian’s, not Terran’s, which would equivalate people from earth)
Mazikeen- Lucifer
Wednesday Addams- The Addam’s Family/ Wednesday
Calliope “Cal” Burns- First Kill
Talia Burns- First Kill
Yennefer- The Witcher (actress is of Indian descent.)
Triss- The Witcher (some debate can be had about this due to her character in the games being white and her actress in the show having South African heritage. I enjoy them both equally)
I would add Pocahontas to this list, but the Disney recreation of her story is an extremely incorrect and awful retelling, so I implore you to go and look up the story of Amonute/ Matoaka, which is the true name of Pocahontas. It’s not an easy story to hear, but I feel as though people need to know her true story instead of Disney’s romanticized one.
Also, if you guys REALLY want a good female POC pirate story, check out the story of the most successful pirate in the world named Ching Shih, aka Cheng I Sao. She was a woman born in Guangdong, China in the late 18th century and worked as a prostitute until she caught the eye of Cheng I, the notorious Commander of the Red Flag Fleet. After buying and marrying her, he noticed her intelligence, leadership skills, and determination, so he began to teach her about life in the high seas. She quickly adapted and helped him lead his fleet, and when he died she assumed full control over his fleet and amassed 1,800 ships and 80,000 pirates under her control and became the most feared pirate leader of her time. It’s a VERY cool story

The Myth of Y/N (Korra x Reader) Part 23
LIBERATION
Y/N'S POV
I trace back and forth in silent anger in the garden behind the Swanky, trying in desperation to resist the temptation of marching to the palace and unleashing my rage.
FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!
In just a short amount of time, so much went wrong.
First, before even Korra got back from the Earth Queen, we realised that Kai was missing. The little thief ran off to do spirits know what. Mako and Bolin went off to find him and they haven't come back yet, much to the worry of all of us.
Then, if that wasn't enough, Korra returned and told us that she has to something for the Earth Queen before she even considers helping us. She said it was something about collecting tax money from the South and bring it to the highness. Basically, being a poster girl for her like some little servant. Despite her dismay, she and Asami went to collect it.
However, when Korra finally obtained the money and brought it to her, the Earth Queen has the absolute nerve to tell her that our report of airbenders in Ba Sing Se was incorrect and that there were none of them present. Bullshit! I wasn't even there, and I can already tell that she's hiding something. Then, when my best friend gives her a piece of her mind for giving her nothing after helping her, she demanded for her to leave!
FUCK!
Korra isn't happy about this either, obviously. Actually, she's fuming just like I am.
As I pace around the area, I notice Korra sparring with Asami presumably to blow off some steam. They've seen to gotten much closer. The thought makes me smile.
That slight trace of happiness is quickly diminished by my anger once more at the situation. At the Queen. DAMMIT!
I march toward the pair, both women lost in their own world. "You guys all right?"
Korra turns me to me, eyes blazing with a fiery rage. "No! The Earth Queen is nothing but a no-good liar! I know it with her stupid little queenly smirk! I should have known she was using me!"
"Don't blame yourself." Asami assures her gently. "There's nothing you could have done."
I let out a deep, frustrated breathe. "Agreed. Don't give the bitch another victory. We just have to wait for Mako and Bolin to retur-"
Before I can finish my sentence, I hear the all-too familiar chitter of our friendly fire ferret, Pabu. Then, immediately afterwards, we see the two brothers rushing towards us in a state of panic.
Speak of the devil.
"You guys all right?" I ask them with concern.
The two brothers, Bolin especially, are catching their breathe. The earthbender tries to give out a simple explanation. "We chased Kai. Train. Slipped away. Lower Ring. Slept in trash pile. Met our family. Grandma tears. Mako scarf. Earth Queen. Lying."
The last three words catch my attention.
Earth Queen lying?!
Asami turns to Mako. "Can you interpret that?"
"The Earth Queen's been secretly taking away airbenders and forcing them into her army." The firebender elaborates with utmost seriousness.
WHAT?!
She's been forcing airbenders to be her slaves?! Like they're not human?!
My fists clench tightly, teeth grating.
First Tarrlok, then Unalaq, now this?!
Nothing has changed! Why are these people so fucking vile?!
"She was lying. I knew it!" Korra angrily responds. "I swear, the next time I see her-"
"-It's the Queen." Asami urgently whispers.
What?!
Snapping out of my thoughts, I finally come face to face with...
Her.
The Earth Queen, carried in a sedan like she's the most special butterfly in the world. Then she approaches us with Guan by her side.
"Good. You're here." She speaks up. Despite her words, she doesn't sound pleased to see us at all. The feeling is mutual. "Gun, tell them the news."
The Grand Secretariat responds without hesitation. "We've received word from the Yang Province. There have been reports of airbenders there."
"Wonderful, isn't it?" the Queen oh so sarcastically and rhetorically asks us. "It's the very thing you've been looking for."
My eye twitches in response to the comments.
What I'm looking for right now is her abdication.
Korra responds with the same level sarcasm as the highness. "Thank you! That is just the most wonderful news. Ever. Yay."
Yay indeed. Fucking yay indeed.
"So, I assume you and your friends here will be leaving immediately." The Queen continues with her usual arrogance. She's probably jumping with joy on the inside of the idea that we will be departing or, at least, that's what she thinks we are going to do. However, before she can continue, she begins sneezing in repetition much to utter dismay and panic of Gun. "Is there an animal in my presence?"
Oh...so that's why she doesn't like animals. Makes sense. I glance to Bolin who covered Pabu behind his shirt. I guess the ferret's the reason for this allergic reaction.
Sweat falls rapidly from the man's face, so fast that one can mistake him to be crying from a distance, as he stutters out a response. "N-no, Your Majesty. I would never allow an animal near you."
The Queen sneezes once more followed by the utmost of rage in her glare. "If I find one within fifty feet of me, it's your head."
The man recoils from her threat. That fucking bitch.
"You should be nicer to him." I blurt out.
Everyone goes silent and immediately darts their head towards me, including the queen. She is sending me daggers of death with her own emerald irises.
"You have no say in this." She growls out and then turns to Korra. "Avatar, control your servant."
SERVANT?!
"I'm not anyone's servant!" I snarl with venom. "I'm a person! Just like those who live in your kingdom, your highness!"
"How dare you!" she exclaims. Before the situation can escalate, Korra steps in between us to act as an emotional negotiator.
"Your highness, I apologise for my friend's behaviour." She replies with professionalism. "We would leave but, uh-"
"-Our airship is having engine trouble." Asami cleverly fabricates. "It'll take me until tomorrow to finish the repairs."
Good thinking, Miss Sato. Good thinking.
After a hurricane of sneezes (much to my pleasure), the Queen sighs heavily. "Very well. Avatar, make sure any of your servants, especially that Water Tribe one of yours, is kept in line."
She glares daggers at me one more time and then walks away along with Gun, sneezing as she does so.
When she's finally away from earshot, Korra turns to me with frustration painted across her features. "Y/N! What was that?!"
"What was that?!" I ask rhetorically. "What was that?! I was giving her a piece of my mind! Of all of our minds! She deserved it!"
"And you nearly blew our cover!" She counters. Her face softens then slightly. "I completely get why you're angry, but we need to stay focused. All of us."
A hand is pressed on my shoulder. I glance to my right and see Mako.
"Korra's right, Y/N." the firebender tells me. "Let's tell the others and focus on freeing the airbenders."
I look at my friends who all have concern washed in their shining eyes.
Breathing out heavily, I nod slowly.
"You're right." I mutter. "Let's go."
When we finally go back to our accommodation and tell the others, nearly all of them are left in shock especially Tenzin. Everyone but Eshah.
"I can't believe the Earth Queen is conscripting airbenders." The airbending master states, completely stunned. That's all he can say.
"I'm not." Esha mutters. "From what I've read of the kingdom's history, I'm not really surprised. There appears to be a trend of morally bankrupt kept secrets in Ba Sing Se."
She isn't wrong.
"I can't believe I thought the secrets were over! Those people should not be forced to join an army!" Korra barks out, her anger from earlier resurfaced. I'm just standing to the side, my once fiery rage now cooled down and replaced with shame and embarrassment from my outburst.
Bumi's shock seemed to have diminished and is replaced with nonchalant once more. "Well, technically, the Earth Queen has a right to conscript her citizens."
WHAT?!
"Bumi!" I let out in surprise.
"What?!" The retired commander replies, hands in the air. "It's true!"
Okay, fine, technically, she has the authority to do so. Still doesn't make it right!
"Guys, what if Kai was spotted airbending?" Jinora worriedly asks, fear spread all across her face. "He might have been taken too."
I gaze at her with sympathy. I know all too well what she's feeling. That's what I felt when I saw Korra breaking down before Tenzin and I, when she was bloodbent by Amon, and her lifeless face when her bending of all but air was robbed from her. The feeling of the one you care about more than anyone being hurt. She might not feel as strongly, it seems to be an innocent little crush so far, but its familiar.
"Jinora, we're going to find him." I reassure her in attempt to calm her nerves. It doesn't seem to be working.
"But-"
"-Y/N is right, we will find Kai." Korra interrupts, kneeling before her and placing her hands on the young Air Nomad's shoulders like a comforting older sibling. "We just need to figure out where to look."
"I bet they're under Lake Laogai." Mako simply states.
...what?
We all stare at him and the firebender notices. "What? I've been reading some of Jinora's books. The old Dai Li agents used to have a secret fortress beneath the lake."
That's true. Avatar Aang and his friends travelled there in an attempt to rescue his Air Bison. Maybe they still use the base?
It appears Jinora recognises this too. "Mako's right! It's the perfect spot to hide airbenders, and I know how to check it out without being caught. I can project my spirit into it!"
Wait, what?!
Project her spirit?!
She can still do that?!
It seems her claim caught everyone else off guard too, even Bumi. "You mean that out-of-body thing you and Y/N did to help giant, spirity Korra?"
"You can still do that!?!" Tenzin asks with bewilderment.
"It's not as powerful as it was during Harmonic Convergence, but if I can get close enough, I think I can do it." Jinora explains carefully. She then looks at me. "You could probably still do it too, Y/N."
What?!
"I...I don't know..."
"Jinora's got a point." Asami notes. "If she can do it, why can't you?"
I open my mouth for a retort but I fail to the find the words.
She's...she's right.
The words of Korra, Tenzin, and Jinora become nothing but buzz in my mind and from my peripheral vision I see them leaving the accommodation. I assume they're going to Lake Laogai.
Me? Spiritual projection?
"Y/N!"
The feeling of a rough hand on my shoulder shaking me snaps me out of my little trance. I turn slightly to see Bumi with a raised eyebrow.
"You okay, kid?"
"Yeah, yeah!" I reply earnestly. "Just stunned at the possibility that I could project my spirit. I mean, that's crazy!"
"You can say that again!" Bumi agrees. "Speaking of crazy, this reminds me of the time I had to fight an entire tribe of spirit worshippers and I bested them with all with a feather and a string!"
I roll my eyes with amusement. Classic Bumi.
We all discuss and chatter on the current situation on what we could do once we learn of the location of Kai and the airbenders. Despite this, I can't help but continue thinking of this recent revelation that I can potentially project my spirit. That ability can be really helpful for communication and spying. If I properly start my airbending training, I can use this ability to my advantage in a lot of difficult circumstances.
After chatting for a considerable amount of time, Korra, Tenizn, and Jinora return.
"Well?" I ask them, stepping slightly toward them. "Are the airbenders underneath Laogai?"
Jinora shakes her head frantically. "No. With my spirit projection I was able to discover that Kai and the others are underneath the Earth Queen's temple!"
I hear a collective gasp from this, including me! The temple?! That was so close to us!
A irritated groan emits from Korra, clearly frustrated. "I can't believe Miss Queeny Smug Face had them right under our noses the whole time!"
You can say that again. I can't believe we were so close to them! The absolute arrogance!
"We have to get into that compound tonight and get those airbenders out." Tenzin declares, clearly already made up his mind.
I nod in agreement. "So, what's the plan?"
"I got just the one for a situation like this!" Bumi excitedly exclaims. "We go in under the cover of darkness: two small insertion teams and a third on the outside. Then all we'll need is twelve tons of blasting jelly, a medium-sized bulldozer and ... does anyone have a badgermole that knows Morse code?"
...
Well then, that was...something.
Before anyone can provide, um, feedback on Bumi's plan the tame mood is erupted by the a loud pounding on the door.
SHIT!
"Oh, great." Asami bitterly mutters. "Not the Queen again."
I glance at my earthbending friend or, specifically, the little fire ferret on his shoulder. "Uh, Bolin-"
He instantly understands, letting out a quick "On it!" After a quick disagreement, Pabu jumps down his shirt.
Okay, animal is gone. Time for more talk with the highness.
Then, after a short glance to us, Tenzin opens the door wide.
It's not the Earth Queen. Not even Gun. There, standing before the airbending master, is a tall middle-aged woman in black metallic armour, hair grey as the clouds and eyes with green that rival the grass. On her cheek is two infamous slashes that have brought fear into the hearts of criminals.
It's-
"Lin!?" Tenzin asks, completely bewildered as we all are. "What are you doing here?"
Yeah, what the hell is the Chief of Republic City Police doing in Ba Sing Se in all places?!
Beifong walks inside immediately and wastes no time. "We need to get Korra out of here immediately. Her life's in danger."
WHAT?!
"Korra is in danger?!" I ask, marching towards the two. "From who?"
"Yeah, what?!" my best friend adds on, marching to Beifong and Tenzin too. "What is going on?"
Despite our bombardment of questions, both of them don't pay us any notice like we don't exist!
"I just got word from Lord Zuko and Tonraq."
Tonraq?! Lord Zuko?! Huh?!
Korra seems just as confused as I am. "Why is Lord Zuko with my dad?"
Neither of them, yet again, take a single glance at us.
"Zaheer and the others have escaped."
Zaheer? Who in the spirits is Zaheer? And others?!
"How is that possible?"
"Because Zaheer is an airbender now."
A bad airbender? That's unheard of. And he wants to kill Korra?!
Finally tired of being ignored, I loudly speak up. "Stop ignoring us and tell us what going on! Korra deserves to know since you think her life is in danger!"
"Yeah!" Korra agrees. "Will you quit ignoring us and tell us what's going on? Who's Zaheer? Why is my life in danger?"
Finally, they give us the attention we desperately needed. After sharing a glance with the Chief, he turns to Korra with a solemn and troubled look painted across his features. "Shortly after we found out you were the Avatar, Zaheer and three others attempted to kidnap you. Luckily, your father, Lord Zuko, Chief Sokka and I were there to stop them. We apprehended the criminals and locked them away in prisons designed to impair their abilities."
When our mentor finally finishes his explanation, my breathe is stolen entirely.
Now it makes all sense...
I remember the day when Korra was moved to the Southern Water Tribe compound. I think I was like six years old when I woke up, went outside, and saw a crying Korra pulling me into a hug so tight that my bones nearly cracked.
"Korra, what's wrong?"
The tears on her face breaks my heart. Why is my friend so sad?
"I'm being sent away."
WHAT?!
"Why?!" I ask her. "Did you do something wrong?"
She shakes her head, sniffing loudly. "Dad told me the White Lotus are taking me to some, uh, I don't know what its called but its some place. He said Aang wanted me to be there for training."
Avatar Aang wanted Korra to live by herself? This isn't fair!
"B-But they-they can't do this!" I mutter out, now beginning to tear up as well. "We have to do something!"
Korra says nothing. She just shakes her head again.
"It's too late. I'm being sent there today."
Today?
"But what about us!" I let out. "Are we still going to hang out?"
My best friend just cries and cries and cries. "I don't know. I ran when I heard about it."
Tears go down my own face but then I just feel anger.
No!
"I will not let them tear us apart!" I say. "We're best friends! We're not gonna let some Lotus men split us up! I'll tell mama and papa and they can talk to your parents! I'll make sure we can still hang out!"
Before I can do anything else, Korra pulls me in an even tighter hug!
"Thank you, Y/N."
Closing my eyes, I hug her back with a smile.
The relief I felt and Korra's own reflected in her ocean eyes when the White Lotus allowed us to meet-up still was overwhelming. It wasn't the ideal situation, though. They gave us a very strict schedule of when I could see Korra because they didn't want me distracting her with her Avatar training. Of course, being the disbehaving children and teenagers we were, often disobeyed them and snuck in or out of the compound frequently. While it was a good distance away to be out of the public eye, it was thankfully not too far away by foot or, most of the time, by Naga.
For years, Korra and I thought she was placed into that compound because that was what Avatar Aang wanted. Then, very recently, we learned it was Tenzin and Tonraq who was behind it. And now we learn it was because of this Zaheer and his gang?
My best friend seems to have come to the same conclusion as I have. "So that's why you and my dad sheltered me away."
"It was your own safety." Tenzin replies. I guess that makes the whole isolated life Korra had more understandable and justifiable.
"Why were they trying to kidnap Korra?" Mako steps in, asking the question we were all thinking.
Beifong glances at her detective. "We spent thirteen years interrogating them, but they never broke. To this day, no one knows what their motive was."
Thirteen years? Over a decade with nothing?
She then turns to Korra. "Now we need to get you back to Republic City, where I can protect you."
I mean...I suppose that's for the best. Or maybe not? I mean, what about the airbenders?
"No." Korra declares. "I'm not running."
I recognise that determination in her tone. Once Korra has made her mind, its very hard to change her mind.
Before the Chief can counter the younger woman's disobedience, I speak up. "Chief, I am concerned for Korra's safety as you are, but we're not leaving without the airbenders. The Earth Queen has been taking them to create her own little army. We have to stop this!"
My passionate argument seems to have persuaded the stern heir of Toph. She huffs with frustration and crosses her arms. "Fine. Let's get them and get out of here. Where are they?"
"They are in a military compound." Korra states. "We're busting them out tonight!"
Her determination ignites my own resolve.
Tonight, we are going to break into the temple, free the airbenders, and wipe the smugness from the Earth Queen's face.
For the Air Nation!
TIME SKIP
Just as we planned, we attacked at night. While Asami, Eshah, and Lin stay behind on the airship as an escape route, we headed off. Infiltrating the Earth Queen's Temple was surprisingly an easy task. It was pathetic, really. I thought the defence was going to be heavy when I saw the two watchtowers in front of the small building from behind. However, there were only two guards that were easily distracted by Jinora. We knocked them out instantly.
Entering a doorway to hide from patrolling Dai Li agents, the next thing I see is green stretches of walls and corridors with many rooms surrounding us in a square-like shape. This place is massive. I have no idea how long it must have took to build something like this.
Tenzin turns to all of us, confidence radiating from his form. "Bumi, Y/N, and Korra, come with me to find the airbenders." He then turns to Jinora, Mako, and Bolin. You three, find Kai. We'll meet on the surface shortly. Radio us if anything goes wrong."
With a quick nod, we all split off. Tenzin follows the lead as we rush our way through the compound whilst avoiding any Dai Li agents we come across. When we finally reach to the prison cell, Korra slides the entrance open.
What I see stuns me to the core.
Dozens of airbenders lying on cramped, rough, rocky beds stare at us. The clothes they wear are covered in dirt and dust, rips and tears all over them. Their arms and faces are full of cuts and bruises, their eyes containing nothing but fear and dread.
Anger swells within me, feeding the dragon inside.
The Earth Queen did this...
She took these innocent people, some of them look to be younger than I, and treated them like slaves! Like they're not even human! She will pay for this!
"Who are you?" one of the prisoners asks. He looks quite young, with smooth jet-black hair and a tiny beard on the centre of his chin. "Who are you?"
Korra steps forward. "I'm the Avatar, and I'm getting you all out of here."
As soon as the words leave her lips, all of them start murmuring amongst themselves. I step forward to calm down the situation. "We're getting you all out of here, but you have to remain calm and don't panic."
"We're getting you all away from the Queen and the city." Tenzin proudly adds on. "Let's move!"
One-by-one, the airbenders rush out of the prison cell and as they do so I turn to the retired commander. "Bumi, tell Beifong we're heading out!"
With a quick "Got it!", the older man gets to it. The prisoner who spoke first stops before us. "There's an airbender that's not here. His name is Kai. We need to get him."
"We have friends helping him." I explain. "Now, let's go!"
Now avoiding all discretion, we run and run and run through the claustrophobic corridors until we finally reach back to the entrance. Korra takes a quick look to the outside to see if any Dai Li are outside.
"Come on! It's clear!"
We all rush out, ready to escape and-
Out of nowhere, dozens and dozens of Dai Li agents land right in front of us as if they fell from the sky, surrounding us in a tight oval shape. SHIT!
"So, you've discovered my elite army. I see their loyalty still needs some work."
Her.
The Earth Queen, standing tall and arrogant with her pompous yellow royal outfit. A stupid smug smile is on her thin lips as she stares at us with a sinister scowl.
"These airbenders shouldn't be used as weapons!" Korra yells with rage. "They have a right to choose their own paths."
Despite the obvious and humane argument, the Queen does not listen. Instead, she marches nearer, the scowl on her face deepening with every step she takes. "These airbenders are Earth Kingdom citizens, and I am their queen. Taking them will constitute an act of war. If you disobey me, I will bear down on you with the entire force of my kingdom!"
Act of war? Oh, she really wants to go there? Fine!
"Then I guess it's war!" I shout at the top of my lungs, the dragon that I have locked inside taking control for a moment. "They are coming with us, you stuck-up, vile, bitch!"
My words born from venom seem to have cut deep into the Queen's pride, as her eyes are lit into flames. "ATTACK!"
As she walks away, her soldiers take a big step forward and launch their infamous hand-shaped projectiles made of the hardest rock. However, before they even touch us, the airbenders we just rescued step forward and launch a powerful gust of wind which destroy them and cause the agents to remain in place and distracted! I guess their horrible experience brought about something good.
If our luck didn't get any better, the sound of an airship begins approaching us. Glancing upward I see Asami's good ol' ship. Perfect! This is our chance!
Joining in with the other airbenders, Korra, Tenzin and, I unleash giant blasts of air as strong as a hurricane towards the Dai Li to keep them distracted all the while Bumi encourages the now-freed men and women to climb the temple's architecture. One-by-one, they do so all the while we step backwards to get closer to the temple so we can climb ourselves. The agents advance to us, attempting to knock us off but we blast them away. When we finally reach near to the top of the temple, all of them finally got onto the airship and I see Beifong and Asami's airships flying past us and far away into the night sky, leaving Oogi alone.
Now its our turn!
Whistling and calling for the air bison, Tenzin leaps and twirls using his airbender to land safely onto his friend. Korra grabs my arm and she does the same, throwing us into the air and landing safely onto the nice, smooth fur of our salvation.
YES!
WE DID IT!
But, wait what about-
"WE NEED HELP!"
BOLIN?!
I gaze down back at the temple and I see Mako, Bolin, Jinora, and Kai still on the ground running away from all the projectiles of the Dai Li agents!
SHIT!
"We need to get them!"
Korra thought the same as she steers Oogi towards them. Before any of us can let out a command or say anything, I see Bolin launch themselves into the air with his earthbending like a crude trampoline, flinging them high up for us to land on the air bision!
YES! WE DID IT!
I look back at the Earth Queen and her cronies staring daggers right at us. I can feel their anger and frustration from here.
Good riddance.
LATER
After travelling for who knows how long, the two airships land near atop a number of hills in the middle of the desert. Standing before the airbenders sitting down, their energy regained, Tenzin, Korra, and I gaze at them with confidence.
"I know that none of you chose to become airbenders." The airbending master begins, voice full of sympathy and compassion. "But now you do have a choice. We can relocate you somewhere safe, or you can come with me to the Northern Air Temple, to live in peace and train as Air Nomads. You are no longer anyone's property. What path you decide is up to you."
When Tenzin finishes his heartfelt speech, there is a brief moment of silence.
Please, spirits. Let them join. For Tenzin.
Then, the airbender who told us about Kai stands up. "I want to go with you."
Then, another airbender. "Me too."
And another! "Count me in."
YES! THANK YOU!
I glance at Tenzin and very closely I can see tears welling in his eyes. I can't imagine how happy and relieved he must be feeling. This was his father's dream and now its coming true. He must be overwhelmed. Eshah and Kai won't be alone now.
As they all walk to Asami's airship, the three of us stand at a distance in our own little world.
"Are you coming with us, Y/N?" our mentor asks me.
My fists clench again and my mind is thrusted back once more to my father's voice.
"The next time we talk, you better tell us you are not joining the Air Nation. If not, don't contact or visit us ever again."
No. Not now. I need more time.
Responding immediately as if unfazed, I give him a smile. "Not yet." I then proceed to cock my head towards Beifong's airship. "I'm going to help find more airbenders for you. I'll start my training with the rest when we're done."
He nods understandably. "Of course. Good luck."
"And good luck at the Northern Air Temple." Korra adds on.
Tenzin's brow narrows in concentration. "Be careful out there and stay safe."
Ah. Of course. This "Zaheer" guy and his friends. Plus, I doubt the Earth Queen will let us get away with what we just did.
"I'll try." My friend humourly adds. She then adopts a look of grimace. "It seems like where I go, I make a new enemy."
"But you made some new friends too." Tenzin counters. He then places one hand on her shoulder and another on mine, their touch providing us comfort and warmth. "You both did well, Korra and Y/N. Thank you."
Feeling overwhelmed by pure joy, I pull them both into a group hug. The happiness I felt moments before is amplified.
"This is only the beginning." Korra declares with confidence.
Yeah, it is.
When we finally part ways from our mentor, we begin walking back to the airship.
"I'm sorry, by the way."
Huh?
"What for?"
Korra gives me a sympathetic look. "I'm sorry for not discussing about the Queen's treatment of her people with her. I knew it meant a lot to you. I just didn't have the opportunity."
Oh...that.
I place my hand on her shoulder, giving it a small squeeze. "Don't worry about it. I get it. Besides, I highly doubt she would listen. I can't believe she locked the airbenders up like they were objects and tried to make them her slaves. She shouldn’t be in charge of the Earth Kingdom."
"Agreed." Korra adds. "But, as of right now, there isn't that much we can do."
The pessimistic words that leave my best friend's mouth eradicates the tender moment in its entirety, leaving nothing but coldness.
I continue walking, hand off her shoulder, and pretend everything is normal. It isn't.
How can she does say that? How can she just accept it? She's the Avatar!
Then, from the back of my mind, I hear it. I hear the voice of the dragon from within whispering into my mind. My voice.
She's a coward.
What?!
I shake my head slightly to rid myself of the intrusive thought.
No! No, Korra isn't a coward. It isn't our place. Just like Tenzin told us.
"I am frustrated and saddened by this as much as you are. However, we can't just force the Earth Queen to rule her kingdom the way we want her to. It is not our place."
And yet, despite the echoing of my mentor's words in my mind, I can still hear quiet whisper of the dragon.
Cowards. They both are.

Read any good books since your last update about your recent reading?
Yes, although I forget when I last shared the books I've been reading, so hopefully I don't repeat anything.
I know that I've repeated this book because I've mentioned it several times over the past couple of weeks, but I can't help but remind everyone again about Steve Coll's excellent new book, The Achilles Trap: Saddam Hussein, the C.I.A., and the Origins of America's Invasion of Iraq (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO). It's definitely the best book I've read so far this year, and it's one of the better books I've read in the past 10 years.
Other recent books that I've read and would recommend checking out:
•Radiant: The Life and Line of Keith Haring (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) by Brad Gooch
•The Far Land: 200 Years of Murder, Mania, and Mutiny in the South Pacific (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) by Brandon Presser
•UFO: The Inside Story of the U.S. Government's Search for Alien Life Here -- and Out There (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) by Garrett M. Graff Garrett Graff has quickly become one of those authors who I go out of my way to immediately pick up his latest books because he's so well-connected and I ALWAYS learn fascinating things from his books. I don't know if there's a writer/journalist today who has better access to the American defense establishment or proven to be more capable of shining a light on many of the most secretive aspects of the United States government.
•"Uncool and Incorrect" in Chile: The Nixon Administration and the Downfall of Salvador Allende (BOOK | KINDLE) by Stephen M. Streeter
•Life After Power: Seven Presidents and Their Search for Purpose Beyond the White House (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) by Jared Cohen
•The Liberation of Paris: How Eisenhower, de Gaulle, and von Choltitz Saved the City of Light (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) by Jean Edward Smith
•Unruly: The Ridiculous History of England's Kings and Queens (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) by David Mitchell
•The Rise and Fall of a Palestinian Dynasty: The Husaynis, 1700-1948 (BOOK) by Ilan Pappe
•In the Houses of Their Dead: The Lincolns, the Booths, and the Spirits (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) by Terry Alford
•Kingdoms of Faith: A New History of Islamic Spain (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) by Brian A. Catlos
•Borgata: Rise of Empire: A History of the American Mafia, Volume 1 of the Borgata Trilogy (BOOK | KINDLE) by Louis Ferrante
•Soldier of Destiny: Slavery, Secession, and the Redemption of Ulysses S. Grant (BOOK | KINDLE) by John Reeves

Hello, I wanted to congratulate you on your blog and your articles which are very accurate and detailed. I also wanted to ask you if you could give your interpretation of the relationship between larys and alicent (whether it was abuse or not)
This is about HotD, of course. It is a relationship of "quid pro quo" but Alicent is the one who loses more of her dignity to persuade Larys to aid her (the infamous foot scene). He's the one who approaches her to convince her that she has to guard herself against Rhaenyra by revealing that Rhaenyra was sent contraceptives.
Larys, like Criston, has his maleness to fall back on/to use. He actively uses all the social cues & visceral but socially conditioned circumstances that give men more power or political abilities than women to use against socially conditioned Alicent & unsettle/convince her to acquiesce to his demands without really ever "demanding" them. Masking the relationship as neutral & balanced when it's anything but.
I think some people would argue that because Alicent is the Queen Consort and thus way outranks Larys (and has no visible disability like him) it was justifiable that Larys also got one over her by stipulating that her acquiescence to the feet sessions is one of the ways for him to collaborate with her or give information so he could be as close to "equal" to her as possible. Or to make her "come down" to his "level". Something similar to how people argue that Criston was somehow a vulnerable underprivileged man against the higher-ranked princess Rhaenyra so it's fine that he has sex with what some of those same people will also say is a child or a too-young adult. (They think he's lowborn, which he isn't he's part of a noble house still. they think he's Dornish, which is also just incorrect. And the Dornish are not PoC in the same way black people or South Asian people etc. are PoC, either, but that's a whole other thing. Either way, just because you're a black man or an Asian man, doesn't mean you get to rape or sexually harass white women. So even if Criston were PoC, if one argues that he wrongly slept with a child/too young adult as a 30-year-old man, we can't say his supposed PoCness gives him a "pass" or that no sexual assault happened. Again, this is if you argue against Daemon or Harwin specifically that they both assault to take advantage of young girls and leave Criston out of the equation. This still makes "woman" the justified eternal target for male aggression) as well as the subaltern to men.
Problem is those peoples' possibly already-exisiting arguments (warning, long & I use "advantage" a lot):
you'd have to prove with what textual evidence why you think Alicent would abuse/jilt/disrespect, etc. Larys when he's one of the few she comes to perceive will work exclusively for her in a court she already feels is not either under sufficent control nor would advocate for her or her kids' safety and interests.
that argument naturalizes putting aside or ignoring the sexually abusive background of HotD!Alicent (a criticism of the writers) for the sake of preemptively "equalizing" the dynamic for Larys
Larys, while disabled, has received no abuse from Alicent before, after, or during their partnership, so the idea that Alicent has to be "lowered" or "humbled" so Larys doesn't get jilted or abused in some way is ridiculous and reveals misogyny--the woman must be the one who loses so the man may win, something that in point #6 I explain further
Larys is still a nobleman, as Criston was before either ever stepped foot in the Red Keep. Aside from extreme circumstances--like right after the green council when noblemen are imprisoned to suppress news of Aegon's coronation--he doesn't face the same exact sort of abuse or neglect that even Tyrion Lannister gets from his own family as far as the show decided to develop for him. And in the bk, to be clear, again, there's no sign that he faces discrimination like Tyrion's and he'd never face the sort of thing low-born disabled people would get. And before this gets thrown back, yes, he still would have gotten discriminatory treatment within his aristocratic circles and even his family might not be totally attentive or casually cruel at moments...however being a nobleman of a family who doesn't seem to hold it too much against him, he's got it a whole lot better. If he left well enough alone and had been one of many other courtiers, it's just as well he could have still obtained a high position if not a little smoothed for him through his father, the sometime Hand to Viserys. Thereby, like Criston, show!Larys had little to really complain of against the specific person such fans would argue "needs" or "just as well" was "fit" to be humbled.
to achieve equality nor equity does not mean trashing already abused peoples, so this is a perversion of what people have said/say about men having to lose their sociopolitical privilege (that because privilege, whether patriarchal/gender or feudal/class) for there to be true equity. Larys' disability doesn't give him license to be sexually coercive towards Alicent. Alicent's sexual abuse from either him or Viserys or anyone doesn't give her license nor erase accountability for her be homophobic towards Laenor in episode & or sexist to her former friend or try to cut out the kid's eye. Bk!Rhaenyra's comment about Laenor not wanting women when her father's arguing with her about the marriage doesn't completely excuse the offense, even though I can understand it. Laenor's struggles with cultural homophobia forcing him to hide much of himself and marry a woman doesn't excuse his early & continued refusal to be as he said he was going to be to Rhaenyra and their children. Daemon being forced to marry someone not of his choosing and who'd he'd never would have married doesn't grant him moral license to humiliate her by taking up a concubine and sleeping with anyone he can find without at least impregnating her or pretending to visit her (bottom of the barrel, but these acts would have helped Rhea Royce out), and this one isn't even as dire as the examples I've already given, since Daemon was still an able bodied Targaryen royal man. Etc., etc.
time and time again, we have seen how even women, even noble/royal women, in Westeros are the first or one of the first people to receive sexual or nonsexual abuses, lose access to important resources, or lose out on political ascensions into power by overwhelmingly male actors' decisions or for their benefit...: Shiera Blackwood, Argella Durrandon, Sharis Footly, all the "saltwives" of ironmen, the unnamed Lannister woman who married a non-Lannister man who received her name but became only to become the head of the Lannister house, Marla Sunderland, Daenerys "Stormborn" Targaryen, her mother Queen Rhaella, Lollys Stokeworth, Casella Staunton, Queen Rhaena, Alyssa Velaryon, Cassandra Baratheon, Cersei,., Catelyn Stark, Lysa Tully, Lucinda Penrose, Brienne, all of the female victims of femicide at the hands of the husbands who claim or found out their cheated, all the women and girls who were raped by their lords in the right of the first night, etc. Women, including Show!Alicent, bear the brunt of the first acts of sexual violence both in peacetime and in wartime. Bc to assault a woman and physically force her to their will, is to affirm male power. Violence or public domination of a woman = power. And the more rank or privilege a woman has over a specific man that the story or viewer is focusing on, the more it's perceived that the man--if he can get the women to capitulate something valuable in some way--the more power he feels he has or is socially graced to him. Which is what I think is really the root and desire of those who'd argue this for Larys and Alicent. As for what this means for Alicent & women, the notes about women being the ones who 9/10 get the shortest stick, Larys' maleness still means something more than if he had been female. He knows that Alicent won't really complain about his feet stipulation because she, as a woman, has been compelled into the patriarchal game sexual coercion where women's movements, ideas, etc are pushed into the role of reproduction and social obedience. Rising from this bigger context, her father has also sold her into an undesireable marriage for his own ends where she now fears that Rhaenyra will hurt her kids/she will not obtain the promised power of a Queen Consort for this abuse. They both understand and/or believe the rules & dynamics of a woman-man where the woman is expected more than a man to give up something integral to their dignity for something that might give them an iota of advantage. Show!Alicent already doesn't imagine more because she's been discouraged to truly advocate for herself if it's not guided by a male hand & it's been proven that it isn't safe for her to do so with the threatening posture her own father has displayed towards her several times. Larys may not know about Otto's behavior towards Alicent and we do not have access to how exactly these two got into their feet sessions bc the show writers refused to really show vs tell for the sake of shallow provocation, but we're meant to understand he observed her insecurity, saw a way in, & used this context of gender politics to re-perpetuate it to his advantage.
it is not predominantly women who created and maintained the conditions of able-ist patriarchy…that was other men; so to say a woman must be sexually assaulted by arguing he's being held responsible for his disadvantages and "sacrifice" herself to make sure the man avoids supposed more disadvantage is really just a way for him to gain more advantage than he already has; yes, women have used whatever power patriarchies have allowed them to abuse those lower than them in the hierarchies or most vulnerable (white women during American slavery; those Qartheen, Volantene, etc. noble women and the Essosi slaves/Unsullied), but this in no way takes away that enduring line of ideology that to be a woman is to be material for the right men's advancements at the right time...which in truth partially inspires many women to do the abuses they perform, i.e., show!Alicent against Rhaenyra)
So he manipulates Alicent and sexually coerces her, for sure.
Alicent for sure is using him in the sense that his labor is giving her some advantage, but she's not abusing him nor coercing him at any point AND she's "using" him under the pressure of having no other sort of aid. Even if she hadn't the conditions of her abuses or she did have other aids, she, more than a king will have a worse time of convincing men to her side without appealing to their egos, promising political/eco/social benefits, and/or her"feminine wiles".
Viserys used his own daughter; Otto uses Alicent, too, but arguably in a viscerally "worse" way; Corlys was fully prepared to with Laena marrying Viserys at 12; Jaehaerys uses Alysanne (insisting she birth to more kids though their mother died in her mid-40s from childbirth and after Alysanne suggested they stop PLUS all her participation in council,, the New Gift/Alaric, etc.) -- these are the "uses" that are actually condemnable and/or abusive.

(Spoiler) Fates of Other Characters at the End of the Story
Tumblr media
Just putting it out there since there have been a few incorrect spoilers floating around that I would like to correct:
>> Duke Arnbach's faction:
Queen (who became Empress consort): Killed in TL1 from a fire carriage accident; Still alive in TL2; Arnulf: Killed in TL1 for "being framed for treason" (it actually was treason); Still alive in TL2. ***note, Vol 6 doesn't go into detail about what happened to the Queen and Arnulf. Just like in TL1, they, along with Duke Arnbach, his grandfather (and the queen's father), had engaged in silent warfare against Rupert, such as sending assassins. Some point after Lari left, Arnulf tried to attack Rupert in a silent attack and was injured in the process (described to be crippled now). Of course, all this was behind the scenes, so Arnbach's faction couldn't do anything about it, and Rupert chose to not publicize the attack either. At the time when tensions were mounting, Rupert would very much rather watch and guard over Lari, as he had a bad feeling about the psycho baker hovering around her. However, he was urgently summoned back to the palace, because Louis had gotten word that Duke Arnbach and the Queen were now planning to openly attack the Capital with their army of knights. Unfortunately for Duke Arnbach's faction, they were completely no match for Rupert's own army. Of course, rebellion against the Emperor meant certain death, but Rupert allowed him, the Queen, and Arnulf to survive. In the end, Duke Arnbach pledged allegiance to Rupert, including all their political power and wealth. This was publicized by all of high society and the commoners of this faction's fall in power, and how they dared to go against Emperor Rupert. Unfortunately for him, Duke Arnbach only feigned innocence and loyalty; he tried to rebel again a few years later by trying to assassinate a pregnant Lari and was promptly executed this time for good.
Nigelle: Alive in both timelines - Went to live in some remote area near Hirel Island, not involved in politics anymore.
>> Grand Duke Ventibolt's faction
Grand Duke Ventibolt: Died in Tl1, died during the rebellion in Vol 6
Aunt Amelia: Died in Tl1, alive in TL2: Gave birth to a son, but Rupert publically denounced her and the son when Ventibolt died; they were allowed to live but will have no role in the battle for the throne in the future since they couldn’t prove the baby’s legitimacy, they had no power of their since Ventibolt didn't use his own army, but rather mercenaries that were bought off by Rupert. Ventibolt’s bloodline was now known as traitors just like House Belois.
>> House Belois
Trash dad - Died in Tl1, alive in TL2: I forgot if he's confined in the capital for life or in the south. House arrest for life though.
Lehan - Died in Tl1, alive in TL2: Will inherit House Belois once he becomes of age; tasked with rebuilding it to its former glory, as the house is known to be one of traitors who rebelled against Rupert. Lands are confiscated by the royal family, but the rest of the family and staff are allowed to live there peacefully in the south still. He's now the Captain of the Guards (the position that Louis was supposed to be in TL1). Unknown if he settled down or married, last we see of him is when Lari was giving birth and he was trying to calm down Rupert
Amanda Belois - Died in Tl1, alive in TL2: Still living comfortably in the South. Doesn't associate with her husband anymore.
>> RupeLari's group
Tory - after betraying Rupert, had died during the Rebellion of Vol 6, leaving only behind the Blue Eagle Crystal. From her conversations with Louis to not forget her, and with Rupert, it was evident that she knew she would die soon - and she did. After the battle, there was no trace of her in the armor, but just the crystal that made up her core. RupeLali left her at the St Voldegord's lake as a final resting place. Years later, she somehow materialized a [body] and reunites with Rupelali in the special side stories.
Louis - Not sure what his official position is, but he's completely replaced Lari as Rupert's close aide/right-hand man. He's always drowning in paperwork as Rupert is busy hanging out and enjoying life with Lari. Countess Lemille - Jailed in TL1. Initially the Queen's aide, but is now Lari's aide. Suffers the same fate as Louis as an overworked aide. She's introduced as an antagonist, but her heart is in the right place - she wants the current corrupt, backward Empire to take a step forward and be one that is kinder to women, and allowed women more rights. One of Lari's mentors and supporters as she aims to become Chief Justice while being an Empress, all to better support Rupert. Papa Felipe - Rupert occasionally summons him for some tasks if needed. Extras: From the special side stories: A lot of people are interested in the prince and princess from this generation's Wiletan Royal family: I forget what the Prince's name is, he's forgettable, still alive. Othelia, the princess: she's very much alive. Her only purpose is to wear Ardel's famous perfume, for Rupert to get necessarily close to her so he can get a sample of it on a tissue, and he goes back to his office to recreate it and give it to Lari as a gift. Some drama because he's framed to be unfaithful to Lari, but Lari doesn't buy it lol. (She's more upset that their daughter was upset at various things he did in general lol)
(Vol 5) Psycho Baker - Beheaded with his head displayed in the town square for the crime of poisoning, assaulting, and kidnapping with intent to harm a noblewoman. Riche/House Gorten - we find out in both timelines they were initially against Rupert and supported Archduke Ventibolt but eventually bit their own tails and swore allegiance to Rupert once they saw how completely overpowered he was. They enlisted the help of foreign mercenaries (kidnapping arc), which Rupert eventually took control of as well. That's why House Gorten got away scot-free in TL1: because they had sworn their allegiance to Emperor Rupert despite doing shady things at the start. Smart. There were also mentions of a small power struggle in the South: with House Gorten and House Vincent against House Belois. In the end, it resolved by itself. House Vincent in general doesn't like House Belois.

The declaration of war was sent and Cersei called it a bluff. Even with a considerable army there was no reason for Shahana to risk a major loss of life. Even after that initial declaration there was nothing, nothing written back, no army riding up. Cersei was quite amused that this child I would have the audacity to threaten her… then the scorching of fields started followed by the slaughtering of the animals which the carcasses were left but any meat was unusable. The streams dried up and any stream that wasn’t dry was now dirtied with waste and bodies. Any ships from the south or the east bringing anything to Kings Landing or Casterly Rock were highjacked by Braavosi pirates. Anyone from the North if anyone would still side with her were quickly persuaded by the Boltons and the Greyjoys either through coin or by sword to swear fealty to the Queen of the Southern isles.
Cersei realized when it was too late what Shahana was doing. But at this point even she knew it was too late to appease her, she now sees the people in kings landing dying from starvation or sickness. There’s nothing she can do, there is but her pride won’t let her. Another letter from the south stating their demands and they’ll end this. Her council pleads with her to just meet them, all she’s asking is to see the woman who killed her nephew so they can end this but she knows a woman scorned, whose to say that she doesn’t want the throne for herself or one of her lovers? That’s why this started because her lovers planted that bug in her ear to seize the throne right? Her nephew had to be killed in exchange for Myrcella and to prevent her kin from taking what is rightfully hers. The delusions of Cersei have gone rampant and she’s too far gone to realize she started a war over an assumption that she made that was incredibly incorrect, she’s past the point of reason. Jamie tried talking sense in to her pleading with her getting her to stop this madness and in turns he accused him of sleeping with the southern whore because there’s no way her brother, her twin would take this bitches side.
———-
Shahana doesn’t want the crown but she knows that it’s the only thing that Cersei can lose that she cares about at this point. The longer she refuses the meeting, the more the people will begin to resent her and plotting on her death. She won’t have to fight a bloody battle to win, instead she’ll starve them out
-🪡
Shahana better be the one to kill Cersei or at least imprison her

Wuhuuuuuhhhh it's been such a long past few days, lol.
My husband's friend and his family arrived on Thursday night. Friday was a very busy bee pick up day at work, but I got home a bit early and was able to hang out with everyone for a few hours. We just sat and chatted, it was nice to catch up. The boys decided to go for a food run, unfortunately just as a huge storm was blowing in. On the way home, a massive oak had fallen across the only access road to our house; it had apparently just happened when they encountered it, and one of the other cars stuck behind it happened to have an axe with him and was fruitlessly chopping away. The boys decided to get out anyway, in the thundering rain and wind, and help move what they could. Thankfully, a neighbor with a chainsaw arrived and made quick work of the rest of it. I'm so grateful they weren't hurt in the process and managed to completely clear access to the road for everyone.
Saturday was a painfully early morning, as I opened the cafe for breakfast service. Everything went smoothly though, and my husband brought his friend and his family out to the farm to visit and check it out. They really enjoyed it! And it was so fun to have my own guests there.
Two days prior, a very young kitten had been found alone in the road in front of the farm. He has been kept and taken care of by one of the girls, but they couldn't keep him permanently and were looking for an adopter. Last year my husband's friend had to put his family cat down for illness 💔. And they were more than happy for the opportunity to adopt a new baby! So they even got to leave the farm with a sweet new pet. We got baby kitten supplies on the way home. It seems very healthy and 'normal' and energetic, and they love him.
Sunday we went out to the local east coast style deli for big sammies and some local tourism, but because I live in the small town south, everything else was closed for church, so we just went to the community pool for a few hours instead. They eventually made their way home successfully, and my husband and I crashed hard lol. It seems like it was a good trip for everyone overall.
Yesterday I got to work to learn that there were some issues with last week's bee pick up. The owners were both gone for their son's wedding all weekend, so they depended on us to make pick ups work. Somehow some of the wrong items were handed out, some of the nucleus colonies had significant structural issues, and many more queens than what is normally expected were DOA. On top of these set backs, my coworker began printing and preparing shipments without waiting for our owner's morning meeting mass texts lol, in which she lays out the game plan for the day. This matters because our bee season has been significantly delayed and scrambled up by natural forces outside of our control, as well as a bit of human error, and she is the only one with the master list of shipments and pick ups that are altered to the new timeline. She's been organizing everything by hand at home and contacting the customers individually in order to reschedule their bees, which I can only imagine is a tedious nightmare. We've had thousands of customers this year. And the information we have access to in the office at the farm is outdated and incorrect, so my coworker was starting a huge batch of orders that weren't meant to be ready. The customer gets a notification when their order is marked as 'shipped' which happens automatically when you purchase the shipping label. And she sent out a massive and incorrect bee order to the beekeepers, which sent them into a panicked frenzy as well, desperately trying to prep the impossible. So we had to stop everything, reorganize, and start over, while manually contacting over a hundred customers to apologize for the random shipment notification and figuring out how many bees we actually needed. All while doing normal Monday stuff, fielding regular phone calls, customer visits, and stocking inventory until our eyes bleed.
I tried my best to work on the calendar for the new month so that everyone could have a glance ahead to see what to expect, but per usual, things will change on a weekly and daily basis, so it's almost moot lol. Hopefully we can get back on top of bee orders before the end of the month when we host BuzzFest, our biggest and usually most entertaining event of the year. It's a bee-themed festival from morning till night on the farm with food, music, activities, bees, vending, and more. I can only assume I'll be stuck in the cafe for my first BuzzFest lol, but it'll still be a great time, I'm sure. But it takes us two days on weekends, our usual bee pick ups, to set up, and we're still two weeks behind...
Today is the first of FOUR large field trips at the farm this week. 50+ people today doing a three part experience rotation: hive tour, candle craft, and honey tasting. We're calling in the part timers for register support, but hopefully we can still manage this on top of whatever corrections and shipments need to be made. The guest leading the group called to ask YESTERDAY if she could come over an hour early, just after we technically open, and for reasons unknowable to God and man, the owner told me to say yes 😭. I couldn't get a hold of our head beekeeper, who does the hive tours, so I'm hoping beyond hope he saw the 20 some odd notes I left for him all over the farm lol. It could be a stressful one.
Oh yeah, and I put together and shipped a 'get well soon' package for that poor lady who fell and broke her nose.
I'm very burnt out. I'm finding it impossible to fully relax and re-energize after any form of rest or relaxation or self care etc. I'm still regularly having stress dreams. I'm well past running on fumes, and I'm just grinning nihilisticly through the struggle and bearing as much as I can, ignorantly and toxic-optimistically hoping a random break will just arrive out of the blue soon.

I've just remembered the conversation that went around at least my corner of the internet about 10 years ago (the British detective fandom) about French toast just being eggy bread and then other people saying nooo eggy bread is this other meal where you fry the egg in a hole of a slice of bread, which was met with rebuffs because thats actually called eggs in baskets.
Anyway the thing is that I don't know if it's a clean north south divide, a class divide, a rural city divide or some other factor which caused the clash of terms so I can't turn it into an incorrect quote for Queen.
But I vote for John being the one who calls Eggs in baskets eggy bread.

PROSHIPPER AND ANTI-SHIPPER DNI (I am a shipper myself, but I don’t tolerate pro ships. I.e: incest and/or step-incest, pedophilia, etc)
-Im Bloop, Any pronouns -My favorite queen is Anna of cleves -English is my second language so I'm sorry if there is any mistake -i will write ships. if you don't like them, don't read it -Im sorry If i sometimes post at night, i live in south east Asia ,so time zone applies
I am writing the six queens from the musical. Not the historical figures. Will there be historical references? Yes. Are they the historical figures? NO. (They’re essentially my OCs at this point)
Shipping info under the cut
Info
1. Ships i will not write romantically (i will write it as long as its platonic): ;Boleyn x howard, Aragon x Parr, any parents with their children (ie, Mary x Aragon, etc), and any ship with Edward.
other than that, I’m fine (All ships I wrote are either both adults, or both minors. In which case, the age difference, at max, would be 3yrs old[for minors]. None of them are related by blood, nor their parents marriage. )
2. ships I will start writing more (bc I love them):
;parrward, aramour, Mary/ Anna ( idk their ship name. Also, they got together AFTER Anna got divorced from Henry. They started liking each other AFTER Anna got divorced. )
-its mostly incorrect quotes
Thats it. feel free to send me promt or headcanon
3. Sometimes I put the kids in, or color code the “she”,“her”,“they”,etc. So I’m going to list the code here
Lina ( cathrine of Aragon): orange
Anne : green
Jane : Normal / no color
Anna : red
Kat (Kathryn howard) : pink
Cathy (cathrine parr) : blue
Mary : italic
Lizzy (Elizabeth i) : purple
Edward : none
4. Again, I am writing the six queens from the musical. Not the historical figures. Will there be historical references? Yes. Are they the historical figures? NO.
5. I will shift the age gaps so shit make sense. Especially in high school AUs.

biology & culture & politics
"...'the entire body of modern science is an attempt to explain phenomena that cannot be experienced directly by human beings'. Metaphors and analogies, in turn, come laced with human stories and values, meaning that no discussion of scientific ideas -- this one included -- can be free of cultural bias." [Richard Lewontin, as cited/paraphrased in Entangled Life by Merlin Sheldrake]
science as an extension of a question+method as an extension of scientists who are humans and are caught up in humanity. Science as a non-political entity is a falsehood, to claim otherwise is naïve. The same phenomena is explained very differently by different people: referring to symbiosis, Jan Sapp (again, in Sheldrake's book) says "[it] behaves like a prism through which our own social values are often dispersed." in some works this is PAINFULLY obvious.
E.g. in Camazine's 1991 paper on self-organizing behavior in bees, Camazine prefaces with laying out the dominant theory on bee organization: the queen is the Leader who Controls where the workers go and what they do, her design for the colony a blueprint that is logically constructed from a central vantage point. The issue with this hypothesis is that worker bees would fill honeycomb with the "wrong thing" according to what we as humans assumed would be the "correct thing" (pollen adjacent to the brood area for easy access). Upon observing this, the assumption was that this was, indeed, doing something "incorrect", and that it was a behavioural aberration on the part of the workers, not the queen. Twofold reflections of the belief that the organisation was competent leader + incompetent workers , AND that further information that may challenge this belief was simply incorrect and not a reason to rethink things.
Camazine dismantles this, providing a more-sensible (if >30years old...) worker-organized system as a framework for bee behavioral scientists to work with. Read here: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/BF00172140
There is more like this. so much more. it rears its ugly head in complex systems in animal behavior, a LOT, often assuming central command where there is none. Whether the relationship between mycorrhizal fungi & their plants is cutthroat or generous is a prominent point of dispute: do the fungi and plants give generously and receive generously in return, or do the plants starve out fungi who aren't productive enough (...vice versa)? Did [x] really first evolve in the now-USA and migrate South, or is this an extension of uneven paleontological interest and dig sites (and education, and oppression,)? & so much more. the mechanisms of life are such that one scientist/political-cultural-angle/general-life-outlook will not suffice.

The Cause of Alice Charlebois (Through Marie O'Neill nee Paradis I)
Alice, was against finder’s fee on contract draft of slave labor.
Opposing the Fanuiel Hall system of Dorchester projects, from the South End (intended to feed Southie, our slur for the community mercantile district), is our duty to this day.
We’ve been active in Boston, since the 1600s, when we infiltrated the Sons of Liberty, who were working soldier’s barracks of Continental soldiers, speculating on dollars returned either in event of victory, or collaboration in means of defeat; false reports filed for own soldiers to claim their own contract fee, killing the revolutionaries if the job filed was not performed (through sole claim of finder’s fee).
You see our opposed system, in the “Goyim” policy of the Synagogues, Mafiaso, Temples, and Lutheran organizations of the United States; our particular specialty, being New England, the contrary position to slavery of labor of any source, being our held position.
The concept of a finder’s fee, to sum, is a draft for system of family refusal of law, passed down until orphan, a police officer’s consultant.  The slaves are given food, festival drugs, and given orders, whereas the drafting party, a mercenary operator, collects the monetary investment and doles out executions when they are incorrect about work performed.
You’ll find my mother’s most famous achievement, the crippled back of Christopher Reeves, Superman’s actor, for picking up her psychiatric fees paid, with the actual pay for the psychiatric treatment out of profits of the films for DC Comics shot.  Her joke, “soup or salad”, “super salad”, referred to Reeves’ preferred fetish, queening, causing a bowel exfusion onto his face, from eating soup at the meal with Margot Kidder, off-set, before sex; the lowering of the price of soup, to match salad, in the option to eat before a main course; hence, he blew into her buttocks, heaving, with heavy bowels, clenching his hips upwards, otherwise refusing to hold his breath, instead moving his chin up on a tilt.  The resulting defecation ritual, a mimicry of Friedrich Nietzsche’s own error, caused a horse to throw him playing polo; his favored sport, as if he could join the Buckingham Nobles by mimicry or theft of name, either through reputation, the sign of a slave’s holder.

I know that I have this blog as an outlet and I still have several posts in queue, but I've been coming on here less and less because I feel like there isn't a point, this is all useless like I'm just kidding myself, and in a way these posts are like rubbing themselves in my face.
Today, through no prompt at all, I'm suddenly hit with the reminder of how shitty it feels to be my age and having never had a close, romantic relationship with someone. It has bothered me before but I've always just shoved it down and distracted myself. But really, it truly, truly hurts.
And with the fact that I'm a Black woman, I just KNOW that there's a layer of misogynoir and racism as to why: no one wants to date a Black woman.
If a guy does date you, than she should probably prepare for some type of pain because, allegedly, Black women cannot be loved without being hurt in someway. 😒 There's also the incorrect and racist stereotypes that Black women are loud, ghetto/hood, unfaithful, and hypersexual. There's the "angry Black woman" stereotype, the "Well Fair queen" stereotype, and I've even heard that we're considered dirty. Like, literally filthy with dirt. (Which is laughable to say the least.) And the most recent one: if Black women don't have an hourglass figure, constantly has a face full of makeup, and if she isn't put together like an Instagram model 24/7 then she's unfavorable. It's crazy and weird. We're either desirable and a commodity, or we're ugly and barbaric, but we're never seen as human or as potential partners.
And just out of curiosity I quickly looked up some statistics and it's true. Black women (along with South Asian women) are more likely to still be virgins after their 20s in comparison to White women. They're MUCH more likely. And that hurts. But even among Black women themselves, being virgins isn't common. And that hurts even more.
Even as I'm typing this, I'm getting emotional and I absolutely hate it. I hate this. I hate everything.
I wish I had someone to talk to about this rather than putting out a random post into the ether of Tumblr just to get this out of my head. I have my aspirations, education, my health, and so on, but that's it. (I don't want kids.) I've tried dating apps and there's no in real life dating where I live, but even if there were, most of the men aren't the type of fish you'd want biting.
I fucking hate this and can't believe I'm crying over this. I hate this so much that if it was a bug, I'd kill it.
I don't know what to do but I also know that this isn't something that can be fixed. I just happen to be living in a time in history where humanity is still full of hate and separation.
How the fuck is this supposed to be dealt with?? I don't want to be a virgin anymore!!!! I want what everyone else has experienced; I want a loving relationship. I want what history, art, and women from all throughout time has said is such a wonderful things about being human. I hate that I'm crying over this. I hate this
