the really funny part about this being primarily a manga blog is that like. I do in fact read comics Other Than Witch Hat I just became deeply obsessed with witch hat two years ago and haven’t returned to normal since.

ANYWAYS everyone should read Tiger tiger by Petra nordlund and on a sunbeam by Tillie Walden and Namesake by isameg and Nimona by Stevenson and vainglorious by kellysketches and Saint For Rent by Ru Xu and Strong Female Protagonist by Molly Knox Ostertag and Brennan Lee Mulligan.

ALSO. Sparrowhawk by Delilah s Dawson. incredible but it has faeries and I’m biased. Fence (CS Pacat and Joannathemad) is fun but the novelizations are not. The Prince and The Dressmaker (Jen Wang) is very sweet. Estranged (Ethan M Aldridge) is great, but again, faerie bias and I can’t resist changelings. I am CONSTANTLY recommending Taproot (Keezy Young) to people. It’s FUN it’s CUTE its got NECROMANCY. there’s Plants. More people should read it.

#Comics is such a GOOD format for storytelling. you get to say SO much it’s SO effective #Magpiesbones’ periodic Read More Indie Comics posts.#I’m constantly impressed by comics they are SO innovative as a medium.#I might also follow this up with little summaries for them tbh

They’re not a super popular ship in terms of romance, but they’re 100% a thing and always side by side in fan works more often than Ganondorf with Bowser, so they’re a duo for sure (that and OoT came out around the same time as FFVII I think so more shared history there)

Ah, see I think I've seen more Ganondorf and Bowser associations because of Brawl's plot giving them some shared screen time (and of course both being big Nintendo properties, and growing up with the jokes about Nintendo having one (1) color palette for BBEGs). Not in a ship sense, just their general "I know that guy from work" fan stuff.

But I don't really shop in Final Fantasy or the latest SSB sectors often, so I haven't seen them before!

#then again in FF7 I really only cared about Cid and also Barret kljkdas not that ff isn't great!! I have HUGE respect for that franchise #and what it did for storytelling and exploring and gaming in general. MASSIVE respect for the FF series #VII was just something that my friends were super into and I kind of hung out and liked the grumpy little team dads #you know how when you're a teenager and everyone around you is So Pumped about Thing and you just don't have it in you? that was me lol #My KH friends were foaming at the mouth over Cloud and Seph and Sora and Riku and fam I tried to care I really did I tried so hard #but I couldn't!! It's not for me. The closest I got to caring about seph was loz in advent children he is all tiddy and zero brain 10/10 #I didn't end up playing FF7 until like 2006 and then again in 2017 and I remember it was good!#But while I could tell you all about Cid I really only vaguely remember the main story asdasklj megacorp bioengineering and ? aliens ??#tldr I wave at FF through the window from across the street laksda I enjoyed 7 and I'll play the remake but it's really not my scene #Same with SSB. I appreciate them both I have fun playing them but it's generally not something I think about when I'm not physically playin #square has some of the most innovative storytelling in the industry don't get me wrong I just rarely crave the flavor they sell ykwim??

Didn't watch the game awards but I did watch the orchestra and saw Baldurs Gate 3 got GOTY

Which I'm actually celebrating because it wasnt nintendo YIIIPPPEPEEEE I WIN

well i finished the women (1936) by clare boothe luce. i did not like that as much as i was expecting.

#you wanna talk about how ppl act like all literature written by women is inherently feminist... brother #tales from diana #she has a genuine disgust for her own characters EXCEPT for mary. but choosing to get a divorce is still the greatest sin of her life #i love when im consuming 20th century entertainment and all the sudden i realize it's anti-divorce propaganda #the first act was alright but by the time i realized how it was going to end i was severely disappointed #it's not that i can't stand literature where basically all the characters are bad people. but the moral of the story is also bad #also boothe's stage directions were awful in how she described characters and scenes and just further illustrated how much she hated #the company of other women and thought she was so superior to all of them in her class basically.#all anyone ever told me about this story was that it had an all-female cast and i think a lot of boothe's storytelling methods #were really interesting in innovative in how she pulled that off.#but trust me. it does not pass the bechdel test lol #women are a bunch of catty gossips with no good judgment. men are cheating dogs and you should forgive them for it #even when they gallivant around town with their mistresses and go home and mistreat you. is what i learned from this play #a shame bc as far as her skill for dialogue and scene-setting it's really admirable.#but the soul of the play is rotten to the core. im so very let-down by this
