Summary
Ava experiences a terrible birthday when she catches her boyfriend cheating. This incident leaves her homeless and she decides to never get into a relationship again. However, her life takes a turn when the attractive Seelie King arrives and seeks out fae like her. The king is holding a competition for a fake marriage, and when the narrator insults him, he takes notice. He offers her fifty million to participate, and she accepts. However, her life takes a different turn when the Seelie King, Torin, arrives and holds a competition to find Faerie's next Queen. After insulting the King, Ava catches his attention and he offers a prize of fifty million to participate. She agrees but soon realizes that the competition is dangerous, with other participants going to extreme lengths to win. As she spends more time with the charismatic Torin, she struggles to remember that their relationship is only a facade.
Review
I thoroughly enjoyed the reality TV gameshow twist in the story where the king attempts to find love. However, the competition needed more challenges for the contestants as the action-filled trials were the most exciting part of the book. Later in the story, Ava discovers that she belongs to the Unseelie, the clan at war with her peers. I am intrigued to see what happens if she chooses to be with the king!

It’s High Time to Get Cosy with Indie Fantasy Books
Picture this. You’ve got a hot cup of tea at your side, you’re snuggled in your favourite armchair, the rain is tapping politely on your window. What better time to crack open a good book? You reach for the latest fantasy epic from a big-name author, but then you remember…you’ve already read this tale a dozen times. Elves, dragons, magical swords – been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Don’t…

April Book Wrap Up
April Book Wrap Up
~~~ Good Morning, bookish lovelies! 📚 These are the books I read/am currently reading. I read a lot this month, though it didn’t really feel like it. This month felt like it flew by so fast, it feels like yesterday i just started reading the first book in the Season’s War series by Olena Nikitin. I feel like I didn’t get to read everything I wanted to. I have so many books that I really want to…
Frost (Frost and Nectar #1) by C.N. Crawford
Page no.: 320 Genres: new adult, urban fantasy, romance Stars: ★★★☆☆ Smut Scale: .5🌶️ Heat Scale: 🔥 Publication date: October 3, 2022 Publisher: Independently Published
Review:
I've been eyeing the author's books for years, but they always got at the bottom of my TBR pile for some reason. So when Frost dropped, it sounded like a good place to see if it's worth a month's reading to dedicate to the other series. Turns out, not for me.
I'm not saying it is a bad book by any means. If someone likes urban fantasy, they will probably get the right kick out of this. For me, neither the world nor the Bachelor plot did the trick, though I did enjoy the main characters. For me, the plot was a little too simple, which made the stakes a little too low, and the big reveal at the end not so impactful. In truth, it was rather obvious who Ava actually was from early on.
It was a fast read and an enjoyable one at that, but very forgettable.
YES OUABH IS WONDERFUL (one of us one of us) I hope you enjoy it truly🤍I’ve heard the other series, caravel, is just as good ..(and an actually finished trilogy so no waiting for the next book with anguish)
I probably won't start it RIGHT away. I just started Frost by C.N. Crawford which so far has been meh (potential haters bookclub read), and THEN I will be rewarding myself with DARK DISCIPLE which is about Asajj Ventress and Jedi Knigh Quinlan Voss. If you've ever read the Dooku book then you know. And if you haven't and you like Star Wars- YOU SHOULD.
And THEN I will begin Once Upon A Broken Heart. Truly no month should have more than 2 haters reads, so if I will be trusting you (and if you betray me, we duel at dawn).
This was the thing with men, as my mother—Queen Malgven herself—had warned me. It didn’t matter who you really were; they wrote their own stories about you. They cast you in one of several roles: the innocent girl who needed teaching, the lunatic who needed calming, the whore who’d break your heart.
ATTENTION, il s'agit d'un tome 2
Résumé
Sous son air glacial et son sourire diabolique, Torin, le Roi des Faés dissimule un lourd secret. Victime d'une malédiction, il ne peut pas toucher une femme dont il est vraiment amoureux, sinon celle-ci meurt aussitôt. Contraint de trouver une épouse qu'il n'aimera pas, le Roi choisit Ava, une jeune femme mi-Faé mi-Humaine. Aucun risque, puisqu'ils se sont détestés au premier regard. Sauf que... peu à peu, des sentiments naissent entre eux. Au point que Torin se retrouve sur le point de tuer Ava. Au seuil de la mort, elle est transportée par magie de justesse dans un autre monde, un royaume qui est en guerre contre les Faés. Accusée par les siens d'être une traîtresse, Ava va devoir faire de lourds sacrifices. Car l'amour interdit qu'elle éprouve pour Torin pourrait bien lui être fatal...
*********************************************************************
J'ai enchainé ce tome directement après la fin de Frost, car les dernières pages m'avaient vraiment laissé en suspens.
On retrouve les personnages, au même moment qu'à la fin du tome 1, mais l'histoire ne suit plus du tout la logique du tome 1. On part sur une nouvelle intrigue. C'était sympa, j'ai bien aimé les personnages, j'ai bien aimé le monde créer par l'auteure. Quelques longueurs par moment.
Une bonne lecture mais pas de celles qui me resteront en mémoire.
When was the last time a queen ruled here instead of a king? And look at what angry men do when they have power. We saw it in the underworld. Men run that city. Women are hanged, put in stocks, and whipped, all because men can’t bear the thought of women having the tiniest bit of control.
