I haven't even rewatched Rogue One yet but I realise I am still so incredibly emotionally compromised by the ending, specifically the ending Cassian and Jyn scenes. Seeing gifs, bits of it in edits or just thinking about it gets to me and god I rly need to rant about it and explore why (under the cut bc it got long lmao, warning for rogue one spoilers obv if you haven't seen it)
This breakdown is mostly from memory so I've prob misremembered details that is gonna ruin me on a rewatch.
Like ofc we have all the baggage of the entire movie, their conflict and the way they've connected in the background. But I think it's how in the end they're both battered and bruised. They're worn down, struggled to reach this point, and at the end Cassian managed to get up there to save Jyn with his last strength. It is all just scrambling for a win, giving it all they got to just do this one thing (the way everyone on their team has sacrificed themselves to get them here really just enforces that)
And then the moment in the elevator is just... not a word said but it gets me because it's so vulnerable. Both these characters have hard exteriors that they project to the world but in that moment they just look at each other with so much emotion and love. Cassians look especially is just so tired and yet love and admiration for Jyn. The performances here rly are.. it hits me. It's also physically intimate but in a way that just feels calm, soft, like they're resting. And it hits the feeling of, the realisation that exists between the characters from here on out "oh maybe we could've been something-".
and then out on the beach, they're proud. "do you think anybody's listening?". and the thing is, we know SOMEONE IS LISTENING. they did win. this isn't a tragedy of them trying and still failing, they've completed their mission. and they don't know it, but we do, they've saved the galaxy. because they decided to hope and love and do the right thing.
But the tragedy is that they're not going to make it. The fight is over. They're not going to survive this, but there is no fight left to take. They've done enough fighting, so for them to in the end face something so unavoidable is almost peaceful you know? The fact that they get to face the end together is beautiful, but that they have to die at all is so damn unfair. The comfort they share, the support, and god I think Diego Luna summed it up pretty well in the clip that "that hug represents everything that could have been but didn’t happen" ( x ). And so it is sad to mourn what they're losing, that they don't get to live in the galaxy they've saved. They don't get to see the end of the rebellion.
So in the end there's sadness between them as well, sadness and fear of the end, but they hold each other and find comfort in the other. Both emotional, but also as a reminder that they did win this together. Once again, the performances and the shots and everything is just beautiful. It is soft, intimate and the last closeups of their faces as they just hold the other will be stuck in my brain forever.
So in summary, I think the reason why it gets to me, that I'm feeling when typing this out, is that there is this blend of so many different emotions happening in this one sequence. This is also why I've been struggling with grasping it, because there's so much at the same time that captures different things from the human experience.
The vulnerability they dare to share with each other, the pride of winning, the fact that instead of doubt they embrace the hope of their rebellion! But then the sadness and sorrow of what could've been, fear of what to come, but also the comfort of having each other, having shared this experience and saved the galaxy. It is both that we feel what the characters are experiencing, but for the viewers that know they're faith isn't misplaces, that light will prevail, that someone is listening, that really just hits it home for me.

Tumblr media
“You have to get over him, girl.”
“I can’t,” you reply blankly, staring off into space.
It’s been roughly thirty days since you’ve seen Cassian. You thought by now the heartache would get better but in fact it’s been the complete opposite. Mara crouches down in front of the chair you’re sitting on in the break room and meets your gaze.
“He left without saying a word. As far as I’m concerned he’s dead to you; to us.”
You feel the tip of your nose tingle like you’re about to cry. You close your eyes to avoid any tears spilling down your cheeks. You feel Mara get up and pat your knee.
“I have to go back to work now but… you deserve so much better.”
You hear her walk away and the door closing. And now that you’re completely alone the flood gates open. Tears roll down your face and there’s no sign they’re stopping any time soon. You finish your little episode in the break room as fast as you can before drying your tears and putting on a brave face for the rest of the day.
-
About a week has passed since your meltdown in the break room. You finally start to feel like you’re on the mend. Before when your eyes would wander between different men at the resort you would feel guilty but not anymore. You’re slowly starting to feel like yourself again.
The busy season for the resort is winding down and summer’s coming to an end. You’re welcoming the changing of seasons for once because summer just reminds you of Cassian. But the resort slowing down also means that you’ll be less busy and have more time for your mind to wander. It’s a double edged sword.
You took a week off of work since it’s been so slow and frankly you needed it. So this afternoon you and Mara, after she gets out of work early, are going out to the resort lounge for your classic girl’s night (really afternoon) out. You meet her at the employee refreshers at the resort, dressed in a simple dress in your favorite color, and head to the lounge. You walk together arm in arm and during the whole walk there from the employee refreshers she’s hyping you up.
“We’re gonna have so much fun, girl! You look hot, too. Trust me, you’ll meet someone new and forget all about that little weasel.”
“I get it, Mara. He’s in the past. I’ll try to look for someone new,” you sigh.
“That’s the spirit! Just try to sound happier than that,” she jokes.
You reach the lounge and head inside together. And just as you suspected… it’s pretty dead. It’s still early for a night out after all. Most of the tables in the room are empty and there’s small handfuls of people standing at the bar. You go for a table tucked away in the corner but Mara grabs your hand and leads you to one in the center of the room.
“Oh no, you’re not hiding in the corner,” she says as you sit down.
“You’re killing me.”
“Come on! We gotta find you someone new.”
“Okay first of all it’s super dead in here and second of all we both know hooking up with a guest went sooo well last time.”
“Exactly, it’s just a hookup; a rebound. No need to get caught up in your feelings again,” she says.
You sigh and she goes to the bar to get you your first round of drinks– revnog. You sit at the table, slouched down in the seat and fiddle with your hands awkwardly, feeling out of place here. You haven’t been to the resort lounge since Cassian was here and just as you suspected being here just reminds you of him. You miss the feeling of him holding you from behind as you sleep, or his head in your lap as you rest on the beach, or his hair tangled in your fingers, or–
Yeah now there’s tears welling up in your eyes again. Shit. You thought you were finally on the path to getting over him.
You’re jolted upright as you feel a hand on your shoulder. You think it’s Mara and secretly hope it’s Cassian, deep down you know it’s not. You turn your head and you were right, it’s not Cassian. It’s some guy and he does look somewhat familiar but you can’t remember where you know him from.
“Wasn’t sure if I’d run into you again,” he says with a smirk.
“Do I… know you?”
“You’re tellin’ me you don’t remember me, sweetheart?” he says, sitting in the chair next to you.
You blink a few times and get a good look at this face. He really does look familiar but still you can’t place where you know him from.
“Sal from Alderaan?” he says.
You cock your head to the side and furrow your brows, trying to rack your brain for a Sal from Alderaan. And then it hits you, you had one conversation with him here at the lounge while Mara was talking to someone. One conversation, you really must’ve made an impression on this guy. You could barely remember him though because Cass was sitting at the bar with jealous eyes watching the two of you talk. That tracks though, Cassian permeates all of your recent memories, making you forget about insignificant details like Sal from Alderaan.
“Oh right,” you say sheepishly, “What brings you back here?”
“Wanted a quick little vacation before the busy season starts at work again.”
“Gotcha. Have you been having a good time so far?” you ask, just trying to be polite.
“Just got here today but yeah. It’s been a good time.”
“I’m glad,” you reply, a disingenuous smile plastering your face as you eagerly look past his head for Mara, desperate for her to save you already. To your delight she’s on her way back from the bar, drinks in hand, but she spots Sal sitting next to you and shoots you a wink. You glance at her with pleading eyes and hope she’ll get the message but she doesn’t.
She sets down the drinks at the table and says, “Here’s a round for you two. I’m gonna run to the refresher but I’ll be back. Have fun!” complete with a small wave and a suggestive look on her face.
You feel a pit form in your stomach. You really don’t want to be here anymore. Any excitement you had for girls night is squashed thanks to Sal and whatever impression you left on him last time you saw him; an interaction you barely even remember. He tries to bring up things from your last conversation and you’re completely lost. How can you make it any clearer to him that you don’t remember him?
“Hey, um, my friend’s been gone for a while. I'm just gonna go check on her, okay?”
“Sure, take your time, sweetheart,” he says, eyeing your form up and down as you rise from your chair.
You couldn’t get out of there fast enough, practically running to the refreshers to find her. You open the door and she’s in there touching up her makeup. She smiles when she sees you but it melts off her face when she sees the troubled expression you’re wearing.
“Did something happen?”
“I just… I can’t do this. I know you’re gonna be mad at me but I’m not ready. I’m not ready for someone new.”
She comes over to you and places her hands on your shoulders.
“It’s okay. I mean it. I just thought seeing someone new would be the best thing for you but it’s okay to not be ready yet. You and Keef shared something special. And it’s hard to let that go.”
“Thanks, Mara… And if it’s okay with you, I think I’m just gonna go home.”
“Of course. We’ll always have more girl time to look forward to.”
“Thanks, Mar. I don’t know where I’d be without you,” you say.
“You’ll always have me!” she says, pulling you in for a hug.
You embrace before pulling away to leave.
“Take care of yourself, girl,” she says, as you walk out, “And enjoy the rest of your break!”
“See you later, Mar!” you call over your shoulder.
You head to the break room to grab your bag with your work clothes and head out, choosing to walk on the sidewalk overlooking the beach as you head home. The sunset emphasizes the ocean’s rippling waves crashing against the shore. There’s not a soul in sight and the whole picture reminds you when Cassian was here; when he told you his real name.
You’re supposed to be moving on but for tonight you’re letting yourself feel your feelings unapologetically. You walk along the beach and just before you’re supposed to turn and walk towards the city you spot two figures standing facing the water and having a conversation. One of them spots you walking towards them and turns his head towards you. Your heart drops to your stomach and a lump forms in your throat. You feel like you’re dreaming; like everything you’ve wanted is right in front of you. But it’s too good to be true, so you avert your gaze and keep walking away. They’re behind you now and you hear them part ways, followed by your name being called. You freeze, fearing that you’re just going to be disappointed again. Because the truth is you thought that one of the strangers was Cassian. Could it have been him? Maybe. You don’t know where he went that day he left. Or it could just be you searching for his face in a stranger. But he was calling your name just now… could it be him?
You feel a hand grab your shoulder and you’re ready to go into fight or flight mode. You spin around, about to yell in the face of whoever has the audacity to touch you. But instead you find the one person who can touch you. To your disbelief Cassian is in front of you, looking disheveled and exhausted but also completely over the moon to see you. It’s hard to describe how you’re feeling right now. A part of you feels complete. This is all you’ve wanted since the day he left; just to be with him and enjoy his presence once again. But part of you that’s still bitter is angry and wants nothing more to scream at him for leaving you without so much as a goodbye. He sees your face shift from a beaming smile to a frown and he can sense why.
“Wait! I can explain, I promise!” he says quickly, all while pulling you into a hug.
And even though a part of you is still bitter, the bitterness is not strong enough to reject his touch. He pulls you into a hug that can only be described as desperate; like you’re going to slip out of his hands like water.
You pull away reluctantly just to get a better look at his current state. He’s dressed in clean clothes, yes, but you can tell he must’ve been through something. He looks tired, like he maybe even lost some weight.
“Cass, baby, what happened to you?”
“I don’t even know where to begin. But before I tell you I just wanna reassure you that I never meant to leave,” he says, keeping his arms around your waist.
“Okay… what happened?”
“The day I left to go to Arkie’s I got accused by some Shoretroopers for anti-Imperial activity. They arrested me and I was sentenced to six years on Narkina 5.”
“Six years?! What do you do??”
“Nothing! I swear. I was just walking to Arkie’s and they thought I looked suspicious.”
“Oh, Cass. I’m so sorry. But how are you here?”
“I broke out. And I’m so sorry but… I have to leave again. My mother died and I have to get back to Ferrix.”
“I’m sorry,” you say, trying to mask your disappointment, “When do you leave?”
“Tomorrow morning. So that means… I have one more night with you… if you’ll have me,” he says, interlocking his hands with yours.
You’re not mad at him anymore now that you know the full picture. But he is leaving again. Do you really want to give yourself to him and deal with the heartbreak again?
…The answer is yes. Because the truth is you’d suffer a thousand more heartbreaks if it meant being with him one more time.
“Of course, Cass. But where should we go?” you ask, glancing around you.
The sun is setting and his eyes are lit up in a warm amber glow as he looks around, too.
“Down on the beach? Just like old times,” he says with a smile.
You nod and he takes you by the hand, leading you down the steps and to a cabana closer to the water. The two of you lay down with your head resting against his chest as you watch the tail end of the sunset, enjoying each other’s company and waiting for it to get dark.
“I’m so glad you’re back,” you whispered against him.
“Me too, my love. I wish I could stay here longer.”
Your stomach swirls at the new nickname but then also sinks at the prospect of him leaving.
“I came by the resort to get my stuff but I didn’t see you.”
“I’ve been off this week.”
“Oh.”
“I know… I would’ve liked to see you before this; before you have to go again.”
“I wasn’t sure if you’d even want to see me again. I would hate myself for what I did, too.”
“You were in prison, Cass.”
“You didn’t know that.”
“How did you break out anyway?”
“I helped start a prison riot. Another inmate who finished his sentence just got sent to another floor and we realized they were never gonna let us out.”
Your head pokes up and you look at him in shock.
“Cass, that’s terrible! People have to know about this; about what the Empire is doing!”
“Shh, baby, I know. Trust me, after I go to Ferrix that’s exactly what I’m going to do.”
“Can I… come with you?”
“I wish you could but it’s too dangerous.”
“I don’t want to lose you again.”
“You won’t, my love. I’m coming back for you.”
You’re not satisfied with his answer but if this really is your only night with him for the foreseeable future then you don’t want to spend it arguing. You nod against him and resign to watching the sky and the water. The sun is completely set and you’re both bathed in the pale glow of the moonlight. You lift your head and look at him under the dim light. Now that it’s dark out you know what you both want. You inch closer to his face and crash your lips into his. His hands find the back of your head and neck, pulling you into him as close as possible. You move to straddle him, never breaking the kiss. The only other sound besides your labored breathing is the sound of the waves crashing against the beach.
You break the kiss to move yourself down lower on his body, hands tugging at the waistband of his pants.
“Wh-what are you doing?”
“You said we only have one more night. Gotta fit everything in,” you say, complete with a smirk.
He doesn’t say anything, he just continues to look at you with a bewildered expression on his face as you free his cock from his pants. You take it in your hand, feeling it already grow hard at your touch. You press kisses all over his groin, everywhere but his cock. You hear him groan and whimper every time your lips draw closer to his cock before moving on elsewhere.
“Baby, please,” he whines.
“I’m getting there, Cassi,” you tease before wrapping your hand around the base of his cock and bringing your lips to the tip. You swirl your tongue around the head, stroking the shaft of his cock with your hand. His hands move to your hair, tangling themselves in your locks and tugging ever so slightly. Your other hand cups his balls lightly and that’s when you feel him go crazy, completely desperate for more. His grips on your hair tightens and that’s when you take his length in your mouth. You bob your head up and down, keeping one hand at the base of his cock and the other gently holding his balls. You feel himself getting harder and harder in your mouth. His pants and his moans fill up the small cabana and grow desperate the harder you suck his cock. You feel his balls tighten in your hand– he’s at the brink of orgasm. You take as much of him in your mouth that you can fit, feeling the head of his cock brush the back of your throat. Tears well up in your eyes but you power through it, anxious to make him cum. With one last motion of your head, he’s spilling his cum down your throat. He spews out incoherent ramblings that consist of moans, pants, and your name over and over again. You swallow every last drop of his cum, letting him ride out his orgasm before pulling him out of your mouth. You kneel and rest on the back of your heels.
“That was… amazing,” Cassian says, catching his breath and still reeling.
He puts his cock away and switches spots with you, telling you that it’s your turn now. You lay down and he settles in between your legs, lifting up the skirt of your dress. His warm breath tickles your core, sending a shiver up your spine.
“I thought about this everyday when I was in prison, my love. Being here in between your thighs is all I wanted.”
You feel your cheeks heat up at his praise. You close your eyes as his tongue laps at your cunt. He licks one long, slow stripe up your entrance. Your body shudders in anticipation of more. He moves his tongue to your clit, swirling it around the sensitive bundle of nerves. His finger teases your entrance and he pulls away for a second just to moisten it with his mouth. You feel it slide in, working your walls as he laps at your clit. His tongue and his finger work simultaneously, mirroring each other perfectly in a rhythmic pattern to get you to cum. He pushes a second finger in and you know you’re not going to last. You grind your hips into his face and hand while your hands move to his hair. The muscles in your core contract and release erratically as you cum. He lets you ride out your high, leaving his tongue on your clit and fingers inside your cunt, feeling complete that he’s back where he belongs– in between your legs and making you cum. Your grip on his hair relaxes and the movement of your hips slow before stopping completely, resting after the intense rush of pleasure you just had. He pulls his fingers from you and pulls his cock back out.
“Stay just like that, sweetheart,” he says, keeping himself propped between your thighs and aligning himself with your entrance. He gathers some of your release on his hand, sending another shiver up your spine, and spreads it onto his cock. He slides into you and hovers over you so his face is by yours, wanting to take in every reaction you have to his cock. You feel him expand your walls with each of his thrusts. It takes a second for you to get acclimated to his size again. You haven’t had anyone since Cassian left. You close your eyes for a second and hold your breath as you get used to the feeling of him being inside you again. And that’s when Cassian brings a hand to your cheek, caresses it softly and says, “Look at me, sweetheart.”
You open your eyes to see Cassian’s brown eyes gazing deeply into yours, filled with love and the night sky behind him. He takes your hand in his and pins it above your head, keeping intertwined with yours while he drives his length deeper into you. The tip of his cock brushes against your cervix with each movement of his hips. You know you’re not going to last much longer.
“I’m gonna cum soon, Cass,” you moan.
“Do it, baby. Let me feel it,” he says softly.
He brings his lips against yours, kissing you softly as you cum around him. You moan into him as your orgasm over takes you, your walls spasming around his cock that’s still pumping in and out of you. With one final slam of his hips he cums, too, releasing his warm load into you as you keep riding out your high. His own orgasm draws out yours, prolonging it as you fill up with his cum. He pulls out after every last drop has been released inside you and lays down next to you in the cabana, putting his cock back in his pants.
You rest your head on his chest as you both catch your breath. You’re glad to have him again; to be one with him once more but you know it’s all ending soon. You look up at the night sky above you, gazing at the stars and feeling a pit form in your stomach. He strokes your back and the two of you are silent as the apparent dread is settling in for both of you.
“I wish I had more time with you,” he says softly.
“But you could…” you start.
“I have to go, baby,” he says.
“I’m not denying that,” you start, sitting up right, “But please let me come with you.”
“It’s too dangerous. I’ll come back for you, I promise. Nothing can keep me away from you, not even the Empire.”
“I lost you once, Cass. I’m not losing you again,” you say, not budging.
“You really want to come with me?” he asks, standing and pacing back and forth in front of the cabana.
“More than anything,” you reply, standing up to face him.
“Okay,” he says, grabbing your hand, “Let’s go.”
To be continued…?

Been obsessed with all of the Oscar Isaac characters since I saw him in Moonknight.
Love Starwars and have a huge crush on Cassian Andor and wanna write some works for him aswell, I've just decided lol. If you've got any requests for him I'd love to hear em.
Was a huge Harry Potter fan...I still love the universe and it's characters BUT I do not stand with JK or any of her Transphobia.
I stand with Translives, Blacklives, and Peace

Coming soon....The Dead Poll
Whaddup Wandor Wednesday Warriors. Happy Monday. As we know, there's just a couple days left of the Stare Wars so that means a new bracket will be on the way soon.
But!
The usual Wandor Wednesday Wars competition will be on hold for a week before we get to try out a new format (it's looking like a ninja warrior competition, which will be very fun to imagine).
In the meantime, in honor and remembrance of all the characters we lost in Season One, we'll be holding a new competition:
THE DEAD POLL
(originally going to be the Dead Pool, but a fortunate typo occurred)
Here's what you need to know:
MAJOR SPOILERS!!!! DO NOT LOOK OR PARTICIPATE IF YOU DO NOT YET KNOW OR WANT TO KNOW HOW PEOPLE DIE IN THIS SHOW!!!!!
A normal single-elimination bracket
Choosing the most ICONIC death from Season One (not the funniest or saddest or whatever else and definitely not a character popularity thing!!!)
Poll rounds will be ONE DAY ONLY -- not week-long polls like usual, so this whole thing will only take a few days
The bracket and matchups:
Tumblr media
Xaul vs. Jayhold Beehaz
Karis Nemik vs. Pre-Mor Chuds
Maarva Andor vs. Verlo Skiff
Kenari Alpha leader vs. Alkenzi TIE pilots
Corporal Kimzi vs. Yellow Pincushion Republic guy
Ulaf vs. guy Nemik shoots
Kravas Drezzer vs. Arvel Skeen
Salman Paak vs. Corv
North-3 vs. Taramyn Barcona
Ferrix hotel guard vs. Birnok
Zap Rod vs. Nurchi
Timm Karlo vs. Narkina Newman
Lieutenant Gorn vs. Xanwan
Clem Andor vs. Colonel Petigar
Anto Kreegyr vs. Veemoss
Sparta vs. Sparky
If you can't decode my silly character names (and I doubt you can for some), send me an ask!
Polls begin Thursday!

Hey, I've just come back to your blog after a while, and though I'm a bit sad to see less sw content (your fox portrayal lives rent free in my head to this day) I'm just amazed and inspired to see how far you've come. Like just what l remember what your art looked like, it's changed but still you. Idk how to say it, not that it wasn't good before, I loved your art back then too. It's just even better?
Hi there! Thank you for your kind message!
It makes me very happy to heart that I did improve with my art! Sometimes I don't notice it and I feel like I am stuck in one place but to hear that gives me more confidence <3
It's not that my SW love is gone, there just hasn't been anything interesting for me in these past few months to spark some inspiration. While I do love Foxy and I still think about him, I think it's natural to sometimes move on. I don't say I moved completely, I do have this wip for example that I am planning to finish soon:
Tumblr media
I just need something from Star Wars that will spark my interest back, like Andor did. Mando s3 was sadly a disappointment for me, I do not even want to start about Ahsoka and Jedi Survivor did bring it back for a while but this game came out in a wrong period of time for me (I just wasn't ready for a big game like that and while I love the beginning of the game, I have some issues with the ending). I am very happy tho that the High Republic books never disappoint me and we just started phase 2 in Poland so I am very excited to catch up on all these books.

Well hello! I've read your previous fics and they're fantastic! 💗 So, in occasion that you open the request for Cassian Andor, Could you please write super fluffy Cassian please? The details are your call! All I want is fluff. Thank you in advance. Have very, very nice days and good luck 🍀🍀🍀
Ok I LOVED writing this, thank you so much for the request. Fluffy Cassian has my heart 💖
A Peaceful Morning
Pairing: Cassian x Reader Summary: Just a super cute morning in with Cassian. Word Count: 619
Your eyes flickered open as the first rays of the sun peeked through the slats of your blinds, casting your room in a warm, deep orange. As you blinked your eyes open you gradually became aware of a soft warmth wrapped around your body. A familiar arm was draped around your waist, holding you tightly as you felt soft kisses being pressed gently across the back of your neck.
You hummed at the feeling, you’d never get used to being woken like this. ‘Good morning my love,’ you felt his lips against your skin as he spoke. Enjoying the moment you snuggled back further into his embrace, feeling his bare chest pressed against your back, his stubble tickled your neck gently as he continued to pepper kisses all over you.
‘Cass…’ you murmured. ‘What time is it?’
‘Don’t worry about that,’ he moved to kiss your shoulder as you began to turn slowly.
‘But you’ve got to lea-’
‘Shhhh,’ he interrupted you. ‘Let's not talk about that,’ he littered more kisses across your collarbone as you fully turned over. ‘I just want to enjoy…’ he kissed his way up your neck, ‘a peaceful morning in bed…’ he reached your jaw and placed another kiss there before carrying on, ‘with my beautiful girl.’ He finished by finally pressing a kiss to your lips. ‘How does that sound?’
‘That sounds perfect,’ you answered, wrapping your arms around his neck to pull him in for another kiss. You craved moments like this, quiet moments where the two of you were alone.
He moved away from your lips to continue his apparent quest to kiss every inch of your skin he could reach. His lips brushed across your cheeks, leaving no part of your face untouched. You giggled at the sensation, still not used to having Cassian shower you with love so often.
Your fingers danced across his upper back, as he moved his body so that he was above you, his arms braced either side of you. You whispered up to him, ‘I love you.’
‘Hmm? What was that?’ He asked as he kissed along your jaw.
‘I said I love you,’ you repeated slightly louder than before, one of your hands now entwined in his hair.
You felt his lips pull into a slight smirk against your cheek ‘I didn’t catch that, can you say it one more time for me,’ he pulled away slightly with a boyish grin plastered on his face.
You laughed and took his face in your hands, keeping his eyes on you as you clearly said ‘I love you Cassian, so so much.’ You laid a soft kiss on the tip of his nose before saying, ‘did you hear it that time?’
He chuckled and kissed you for what felt like the 100th time that morning. ‘Loud and clear, I love you too.’ His eyes stayed glued to yours as he stayed above you, his warm body glued to yours, making sure there was no space between you.
You stayed in each other's arms, sharing sweet words and kisses, time became irrelevant and you completely forgot about the mission Cassian would be leaving shortly for. He knew he was gonna be in some sort of trouble for being late but he’d take getting shouted out if it meant he could spend more time with you.
Eventually reality beckoned in the form of beeping coming from Cassian’s communicator. The two of you reluctantly untangled yourselves but the warmth of your love lingered, an invisible bond that only the two of you could understand.
‘I promise I’ll be back as soon as I can,’ he said with one last lingering kiss before he left, leaving you with your heart filled with hope for your future.

The Wheel of Time thoughts
Im really loving season 2 so far, it’s much faster paced than season 1 and we’re digging into the characters emotions and motivations more. (I haven’t read the books so this is show only).
The last episode was brilliant and had so much going on but that was really Egwene’s episode like episode 3 was Nynaeve’s episode. Watching Egwene go through so much physical and mental torture was tough but as Loial said there is steel beneath the sweet exterior and she will survive this. There are also so many of her friends planning to rescue her: Loial wants to break her out of the kennels, Nynaeve and Elayne are working out how to remove the collar and won’t leave without her, Perrin is close by with Aviendha planning to rescue his friends from the Seanchan which will include Egwene once he knows she’s there and Rand will be on his way as soon as he has his meeting with the Amyrlin Seat. One of the scenes between Egwene and Renna I found interesting was after she got Egwene to use the One Power to burn down the tree she seemed so excited and happy like they really bonded so when she told Egwene she deserved a drink but Egwene fell back in agony because she wanted to attack Renna again, her face just dropped. Like she thought they were friends now and when that didn’t happen that’s when she turned physically violent for the first time, Renna said Egwene can’t hurt her but I think Egwene’s rejection in that moment hurt and that’s when she stopped trying to “cultivate a friendship.” There is going to be such a showdown between those two when Egwene gets rid of the collar and can fight back.
Lanfear/Selene has been an interesting new addition to the cast, I knew from the first sneak peek of her scene with Rand when she tells him if he wants something to take it that she was gonna be evil/a villain but she’s a brilliant villain. Love her calling Ishamael “Ishy” and banishing him from Rand’s dreams and the way she won Liandrin over to her side instead of Ishamael. Lanfear is definitely a femme fatale and is gonna stir things up with both sides.
Liandrin seems close to unraveling now. I think she knows it’s only a matter of time before her true nature is revealed, when she said Elayne was a complication she knew her plan was fucked but she couldn’t back down. Selling Nynaeve and Egwene to the Seanchan she could’ve explained their absence by saying Nynaeve left because of what happened to her in The Arches and Egwene went with her because she was so grief stricken when she thought Nynaeve died that she didn’t want to lose her again, but having the Daughter-Heir of Andor go missing too is one lie too many. All it takes is someone to send word to the Queen asking when her daughter is coming back to the White Tower and there’ll be an uproar. We also found out a bit more about Liandrin’s backstory from Lanfear and why she hates men so much, her life sounds pretty fucked up like and then her reward for swearing to the dark was that her son gets to live but as Lanfear said “this isn’t life.” He’s sick, bedridden, too old and can’t even speak and Liandrin couldn’t watch as Lanfear mercy killed him to “set her free.” I actually gasped when I saw Liandrin at the gathering of Aes Sedai in Cairhien because it’s all gonna blow up next week with her being in the same place as Rand, Mat, Min and Moiraine as well as the two Brown Ajah Verin and Yasicca being onto her now. She looked really panicked when she was trying to find out why the Amyrlin was in Cairhien with 14 Aes Sedai.
Moiraine has been through the ringer this season, she’s trying to cope with being Stilled and having an existential crisis that everything she has been doing for the last 20 years has been wrong and only helped the Dark instead of defeating it. Like that is some heavy burdens, but I think she has being going about things so wrong this season by keeping everyone at arms length and pushing away people who care about her. I know she’s trying to protect Lan because she thinks she’s going to die in this fight against the Dark and she doesn’t want him to feel her death through the bond and end up like Stepin but she should trust him more than she has this season, he’s been her best friend for 20 years, always has her back and would literally die for her, I hope they have a proper reunion next week. There seems to be a thaw with Moiraine and her family after she apologised for how she’s been treating them, like her nephew adores her and her sister still loves her even though there’s some unresolved issues between them but they’re still going to support her even if they don’t know what’s going on. Moiraine has obviously been in contact with Siuan since there was a letter with her seal on the writing desk. It was like a scene from some Victorian romance drama watching Moiraine drafting letters to “my dearest Siuan” and then throwing them away because she can’t explain herself properly, then her sister comes in and says “The Amyrlin Seat is her with fourteen Aes Sedai and she’s demanding an audience with you.” Lol that was brilliant, Moiraine’s face was a picture of shock and surprise, can’t wait to see what happens with them next week.
Lan The Man, he’s done following orders and is taking action to protect Moiraine whether she wants him to or not. He’s been tagging along with Alanna and her warders as if they have him on suicide watch but he’s been figuring out his next move in the fight against the dark and how best to help Moiraine. I can’t believe that Alanna, Maksim and Ihvon actually thought Lan was a dark friend but their confrontation helped move things along. Alanna translated the prophecy about Lanfear, Lan found out where the Amyrlin was and got them to go with him to get her for Moiraine but he also had to tell them about Rand being the Dragon Reborn. I loved that Lan showed up at the end just outside of Cairhien to stop Rand from leaving so now everyone can share information and make a plan to fight back against Ishamael and the Seanchan.

may i humbly request a mon x literally anyone you feel like? i love any and all content featuring my space wife <3
so. i got mon/draven in my head, and now this became a 1k oneshot. also on ao3, actually also tagging @andorerso in this because i'm going to take the other option on your prompt, but here is a bonus of mon/draven 💕
Soon, the base on Yavin IV will have to be evacuated in its entirety. To where, no one knows; there hasn't been enough personnel to form teams that could scout locations or to analyze the data they would find. Even if there were, though, there's always the matter of time.
The matter of time, which is always against them.
Still, the sounds of celebration continue to pierce the walls and shake the floor under their feet. A victory, especially one this significant, merits it; it's come at a cost, greater than most will ever know, but it's still a victory, and everyone here has had a role to play in it. Everyone here has earned their right to celebrate.
Even if the Empire, of course, is still out there, lurking closer than ever, with a firm Alliance location fixed in their databases that they will return to before long (the matter, again, of time), Mon will leave everyone be — if only for one night.
She's made her requisite appearance and delivered her requisite words, has smiled at their remaining numbers and given the energy of inspiration like any competent leader should, but it'd all burned out the instant she'd turned away. Her heart, heavy since the council meeting (heavy for more years than she can count up to this point), had not found, and still does not find, itself buoyed by the mood; the cost is a mark that is not so easily wiped clean.
As she slips away, into the corridors, she thinks of Jyn Erso, the woman they'd failed in so many ways, but perhaps most egregiously at the end, who'll now never get to live to see the results of her conviction; she thinks of Captain Cassian Andor, their best and brightest, a man who, in the time that she's known him, has shown nothing but unwavering dedication to exactly what this cause requires, even if it'd taken pieces of him that he'll never have the opportunity to put back together. She thinks of everyone who had gone with them to Scarif, the souls brave enough to act, no matter what, even when their own council could not. She thinks of the pilots who had not touched down on the surface of Yavin IV — the majority of the number that had taken off.
The assault on the Death Star is a victory against a seemingly unbeatable enemy, but it's difficult to think of it as an unambiguous win, no matter how much the Luthens and others of their movement would deem that thought naive.
Still, that's war — and far from the chambers of the Galactic Senate, she knows that now, with unquestioning certainty.
So, too, does the man sitting behind a desk in the office that Mon has found herself stepping into.
She can't remember a time when General Davits Draven hasn't looked tired and haggard, but here, in the low light of the power-savers, he's wearing years of cumulatively acquired exhaustion everywhere on his face; the circles under his eyes have somehow become more pronounced even over the past few days, his skin more sunken, hollow. There are two glasses with Corellian brandy on his desk, one mostly full, with his fingers wrapped loosely around the base, and the other just slightly off to the side, completely untouched.
Most in the Alliance would think of him as hard and cold, the sort of man one would depend on to make quick calls and snap decisions that might toe the lines of morality — at least for those who, like her, had come from softer beginnings. But hard and cold when needed, able to put aside sentiment for the sake of the greater good, doesn't mean that the sentiment isn't there; he cares for the subordinates under his command, looks out for them as much as he is able, and even if he may be reluctant to show, under that exterior, he has a heart that aches.
He's taken these losses hard; that much is clear. Beyond that, Mon has to infer, but it's a good guess that he's taken the loss of Captain Andor, someone he'd personally mentored for years, the hardest of all.
It says a great deal that he allows her to brush her hand against his when she approaches the desk, that he allows her to linger there for a moment before she gently drags it away, taking the untouched glass instead. It says a great deal that she can see a flicker of emotion in his face, a twitch of his jaw, before he hides it behind the rim of his glass, swallowing down half of its contents in one gulp, and hardly so much as even clearing his throat once he does.
Mon doesn't quite follow suit, but she stays close, leaning against the edge of the desk, taking a few sips herself. It's, specifically, from the bottle she'd gifted him once, several years ago — apparently saved until now. One might call it a special occasion, a celebration, but of course she knows better.
This is no more a celebration than the face she'd put on before quietly exiting the festivities. It's a requiem.
One moment carved out of time that's always running against them, because it's one moment that's critical for the sake of maintaining their humanity.
The chrono flashes, changing on the wall, emphasizing just how much those seconds are ticking away, but Mon says nothing, occasionally glancing out of the corner of her eye, until she, eventually, drains the contents of her glass and sets it back down onto the surface of the desk with a gentle clink.
Until her voice finally finds her again; it's shaky, hesitant under a mask that few can be allowed to see past, for the sake of their movement's survival — especially at such a crucial moment. But here and only here, she asks, "What now?"
Draven sets his glass down as well. His back straightens in his chair, and his hollowed face fills with purpose.
"Now," he says. "We have a war to win."

For the 5 facts. Nemik lives, decides to join people trying to matchmake Jyn and Cassian.
so when I said replies may be slow, I didn't mean it to be this slow. so sorry, I was working on my Secret Santa fic because I'm a little behind but I will get to all the prompts you guys sent <3
anyway, Nemik lives, let's go
so Nemik lives (I'm partial to the headcanon that he's paralyzed though, but it doesn't really play a large part in this story). Cassian still goes back to Ferrix, then Niamos, then Narkina etc... basically, they don't see each other again until years later at Yavin IV. Nemik of course joined the Alliance, doing whatever he can to help. Cassian at this point is in his big angsty loner boy phase and doesn't really associate with anyone except a 7 feet tall security droid, but of course he's happy to see Nemik alive and well still, and they have a brief convo. I feel like Nemik would try to be friends with Cass, but he's in a mental state where he's just not really capable of it, and he's also often away from base for long periods of time, so they don't interact a lot. until Scarif. Nemik is one of the soldiers Cassian asks to come with them, and although he can't fight on the ground, his navigation skills and genius brain definitely comes in handy. so he, along with the rest of Rogue One crew, survive.
things change after that. while Cassian is in bacta and it's all still touch and go, the medics unsure if he'll even make it, Jyn pretty much refuses to leave his side but Nemik visits often as well, and they start talking. Jyn is very fond of him from the get-go, and I think through her, Cassian too would start hanging out more with Nemik, because god knows those two are attached at the hip as soon as he gets out of the medbay lmao
so literally everyone knows that Captain Andor and Sergeant Erso like each other, Nemik included, but getting them to realize it is proving to be a little harder than anticipated. Nemik wasn't going to get involved. yeah, he saw them in the hangar right before they left for Scarif, but they're adults who can figure it out for themselves, right? well, Bodhi is taking the exact opposite stance, so certain that they just need a little push, and it's very hard to say no to Bodhi and his puppy dog eyes. yeah, Nemik gets roped into this, but Bodhi just needs a partner in crime. (Baze refuses to get involved, Chirrut says all is as the force wills it. Kay wasn't even consulted)
together they go through all the classics of matchmaking: "accidentally" locking them in a supply closet, trying to make them jealous, we only have two rooms on this mission, you guys can share the double bed, right? etcetera... nothing works. Bodhi is losing his mind, but Nemik starts to feel a little suspicious... he knows they're both very intelligent people, but it's like they're not even noticing their less and less subtle and more and more desperate matchmaking attempts. it's downright strange. could they... no, surely not
but they could and they are. long story short: Jyn and Cassian are already together, and have been for a while, thank you very much. they preferred to keep it private at first because it's nobody's business, but the more Bodhi tried, the more it became about just messing with him on purpose. teaches you a lesson about meddling, I guess. (plus Jyn, with an alias, placed a bet on when they would get together so they could rake in the cash but shhhh, don't tell anyone)

ALSO absolutely feral for shirtless cassian so I am begging on my knees for shirtless cassian fluff that ur beautiful mind conjures
you always have the best prompts and ilysm!! here is a little shirtless cassian for you 👀
words: 481
cassian andor masterlist
He knew that you couldn’t stop staring at him whenever he walked around without a shirt on, and he absolutely used that to his advantage.
Sometimes the situations were normal enough, like when he would exit the fresher having just taken a shower, and you had to fight to keep your eyes on his face rather than his pecs, or maker forbid, the towel hanging low on his waist. And it was getting really inconvenient, because once he figured out that he had this specific power over you, he started to use it any chance he got.
You had to leave for an early morning meeting? He would pull the covers down just enough for you to remember that he never slept wearing a shirt, and the look on his face was a specific kind of torture, because you wanted to stay there (and fool around a little) with him more than anything else in the galaxy.
The two of you were in the middle of a stupid argument? Suddenly he would rip his shirt off and leave you staring, having completely forgotten what you were mad once  you laid eyes on his chest, and he knew it.
You were in the middle of a meeting? There would be a ding on your datapad, and suddenly a holo of your shirtless boyfriend would be up on your screen. Suddenly, you didn’t really care was the Commanders and General were saying, you just really wanted to leave.
This time, you were in the middle of arguing about a mission he would be leaving on soon. You wanted to accompany him, but he didn’t want to put you in that kind of danger, but you had a secret weapon.
“So you think I can’t handle a few stormtroopers?”
“No, it’s not that,” he said.
“Really? Than what is it?”
You could see the look in his eyes as he opened his mouth to respond, and you saw the way his fingers started to grip the hem of his shirt. But before he could redirect the conversation, you closed the gap between you two, leaning in to kiss him passionately. Your lips moved insistently against his as you tried a little distraction of your own.
And right as he tried to deepen the kiss, you pulled away.
Cassian looked absolutely kiss-drunk and gutted from your betrayal as he realized what had just happened, and you didn’t think there would ever be a way to wipe the smile off your face. “Come back here,” he said lowly.
“Not until we finish our argument.”
“I don’t care about that anymore, I just want to kiss you.”  At those words you caved, happy that you had finally discovered his weakness just as he had discovered yours. And luckily for him, you really liked kissing him, almost as much as he liked walking around shirtless to distract you.

andor rewatch one-shots: episode 1.01 kassa
so I'm rewatching Andor for the fourth time, and I've decided I'm going to try and write one-shot per episode, set during the episode!
this one is set during episode 1, right after Cassian gets back from Morlana One.
--
The first thing Cassian did after landing the ship in Ferrix’s yard was collapse onto the ship’s cot. All the adrenaline that had been coursing through him during his encounter with the corpos, and the aftermath, running through the rain-soaked streets of Morlana One, flying the ship up and out of there, getting back to Ferrix in one piece, had left his body as soon as he landed. The only thing he felt in his body now was a profound, bone-deep weariness.
He truly hadn't wanted any surprises. All he wanted that night was something that could get him one step closer to finding his sister.
Cassian sat down, and swung his legs up onto the cot, pulling a thin, green blanket haphazardly across his legs. He lay on his back and stared up at the battered ceiling of the ship. His body was tired, exhausted, even, but his mind still circled one thought over and over again:
Kerri.
Had he gotten any closer to finding her? Yes and no. It was possible she had worked on Morlana One, but if she had, she was gone now, and the trail had gone cold. He had no other leads to follow.
Despair threatened to overwhelm Cassian at that thought, but he held it off, redirecting his thoughts down another channel.
He thought about the corpos who had ended up at the wrong end of his blaster earlier that night, and it dawned on him that if Kerri had worked in that place, people like them would have been her customers. The thought made him feel sick to his stomach, and he shivered, whether out of rage or discomfort he couldn't tell.
Cassian curled onto his side, facing the metal wall of the ship.
She would be an adult, now, just like him, he reminded himself. She could make her own choices, and if she'd survived this long she could probably take care of herself.
That thought didn't help to untie the knot in Cassian’s stomach, however.
He closed his eyes and tried to remember her as she had been the last time he saw her.
She was so small. Her big, brown eyes looked into his with an unreadable expression. As if she knew, somehow, that he would never come back. Had he known?
Of course he hadn't, nor could she have, but he remembered the feeling of something tugging at his heart, even as he turned and walked away, excited to go off somewhere with the big kids for once.
I never should have left that day, Cassian thought, and turned over onto his back, breathing hard through the pain in his chest.
He remembered what she felt like tucked against his side, or curled up with him at night, how they were always together, rarely out of each other's sight, usually walking around hand-in-hand.
He just wanted to hold her hand again, to give her a hug. He wanted her to be safe, and he wanted to help keep her safe.
Where are you? He thought, and he felt his throat closing up and tears threatening to spill from his eyes. Cassian pressed the heels of his hands against his eyelids, suddenly afraid of falling apart under the weight of his grief and being unable to pick up the pieces again.
What if he never found her? What if he died without ever seeing her again?
The most terrible possibility of all flashed through his mind before he could stop it:
What if my sister is dead?
The words he'd heard again and again over the years which had always been too horrible to accept surfaced in his mind once more:
There were no survivors on Kenari.
Cassian made a sound he hardly recognized as coming from himself, then: somewhere between a high-pitched whine and a heaving sob. He felt the grief and despair he'd been trying to fight off all night consume him all at once.
Tears ran down his cheeks from behind his hands, and he turned back onto his side, tucking his head slightly under his blanket in an attempt to muffle the sounds he was making, in case anyone he knew was wandering the shipyard at night.
He sobbed till he was out of breath, and fell asleep soon after.
That night, Cassian dreamed of his last day on Kenari. He dreamt that he woke up to the sight of Kerri's face peering at him, and her voice calling his name.
Then he actually woke up.
It was Bee who had been calling his name.
“C-C-Cassian!”
He woke up with a jolt, and looked over to see Bee’s face inches from his own, and their stuttering voice loud in his ear.
“Bee,” Cassian murmured, his voice hoarse.
His eyes felt raw from crying so much the night before; he rubbed them with one hand while he stretched the other out to rest on Bee’s head.
Bee lifted his head into Cassian’s touch, and whirred at him quizzically.
“You’ve been c-c-crying,” the droid observed after a moment.
“Yeah,” Cassian said, turning to look at Bee, unsure what else to say.
“Why?”
“My sister,” Cassian replied, swallowing thickly.
“Oh,” Bee responded, understanding in their voice. “I'm s-s-sorry, Cassian.”
Cassian's chest hurt, but at this moment, it was due not just to his grief, but also to his love and appreciation for his odd little friend of so many years.
“Thanks, Bee,” he said, and sat up, swinging his legs down in front of the droid.
He looked into Bee’s eye for a moment, and Bee looked back at him the same way they always did. Cassian felt the beginnings of a smile on his face. He leaned his head down to rest his forehead against the battered top of Bee’s head, and wrapped his arms around the sides of his little, metal body.
Bee whirred happily. As a child, Cassian used to fall asleep hugging them like this.
“I love you, Bee,” he said softly.
“I love you t-t-too,” Bee responded immediately.
Cassian pulled away after another moment, and stretched a little, running his hands through his hair and then wincing at the pain in his bruised and broken knuckles.
“You are h-h-hurt.”
“I'm okay.”
Bee made a sound that indicated he was unconvinced.
“Physically, I mean,” Cassian corrected himself.
Bee made the sound again.
Cassian sighed heavily, and looked down at his hands, realizing he probably should fix them up.
“Okay, you win,” he said to Bee with a small smile, and then turned his attention to his hands, and started asking Bee about the current state of things on Ferrix.
Kerri still stood, alone, as he had left her all those years ago, somewhere in Cassian's mind, but it would be quite a while before he could bear to look at her again.

Happy 76th Birthday the excellent Scottish actor David Hayman.
Hayman, one of Scotland’s most acclaimed actors of stage and screen was born in Bridgeton, Glasgow on February 9th 1948.
David Hayman grew up as one of three children in a working class family in Drumchapel, Glasgow. Leaving school without any academic qualifications he started work as a would-be engineer at 16. One day, wearing his grease stained boiler suit, he marched into the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and announced his intention to become an actor. He still has no idea where this came from, he is basically a shy person and there was no family history of acting. He took advice and joined an amateur dramatics group and a year later was accepted to study drama and has never been out of work since.
His film and television credits are, frankly, much too numerous to list but include his superb portrayal of hard man Jimmy Boyle in “Sense of Freedom” and, of course, he is recognisable everywhere as Detective Chief Superintendent Michael Walker in Linda La Plante’s long running Trial and Retribution series. He has also starred in the hit Scottish cop drama Shetland as well as Scottish comedy shows Scotch & Wry, Rab C Nesbitt and Still Game.
Hayman has also directed numerous films and TV shows as well as regularly treading the boards in the Theatres.
Away from acting, David established his Glasgow-based charity Spirit Aid in 2001. It has gone on to become one of Scotland’s most successful small scale humanitarian organisations. He started Spirit Aid because he wanted to do a Scottish Live Aid at Hampden, but his rock stars let him down. “They were all, ‘Oh, man, I’m burned out,’ and I was thinking, ‘You’re sitting on your fat arse on your sofa with £40 million in the bank. Go and sit in a refugee camp in Afghanistan and tell me you’re burned out’. But I thought, I believe in this, I’ve got to keep going.”
He spends several months every year visiting his charity’s relief projects where he employs indigenous workers wherever possible. His fundraising operations include Operation Loo Roll, a project selling toilet paper that raised £100,000 in 2007. The charity undertakes humanitarian relief projects from Kosovo to Guinea-Bissau, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Malawi and South Africa.
Hayman is a big campaigner for a Scottish film studio, which is looking like happening soon, he says “It takes the Americans to come in and build a shed where they shoot Outlander and that’s the nearest thing we have to a film studio, think of all the movies that we’ve lost, all the money that we’ve lost all the way back to Braveheart.”
David was recently in the fab comedy from Scottish director Michael Caton-Jones, Our Ladies, “set mainly in Edinburgh a group of Catholic school girls get an opportunity to go to the capital for a choir competition, but they’re more interested in drinking, partying and hooking up than winning the competition” it is an adaptation of Scottish author, Alan Warner, of Morvern Callar fame’s third novel Sopranos, I read the book in the late 90’s it is a laugh out loud book, and the film is also very good.
Hayman was in an interesting film, My Neighbor Adolf, last year, which I haven’t got round to watching yet, set in 1960;s Brazil he plays a “lonely and grumpy” Holocaust survivor convinces himself that his new neighbour is none other than Adolf Hitler. We also saw him in the sequel Fisherman's Friends: One and All, both films get ratings of 6.2, and 6.4 on IMDB . I have just started a binge watch of Chemistry of Death, a Brit crime thriller series which is on Paramount plus. Last year David played a Chieftain in the Disney Star Wars prequal series Andor.
David won a top theatre award for his portrayal of northern Irishman, Eric, in the acclaimed play Cyprus Avenue last year, he has a couple of projects lined up, Jailbroken, an action crime thriller described as "the day before a violent criminal is due to be released from prison he receives a threatening call. Armed only with a mobile phone he must somehow save his family - and himself."And at the other end of the spectrumis a fantasy called Assassins Guild, "After the Mermaid Wars, Iliad's city is attacked by dark forces. With the city full of rancor and corruption, Death herself forms an alliance and offers Atticus, an elite fighter, the chance to return to life. This gift comes at a price."

Cassian gave one more scan of the darkened street before motioning you to follow him. You followed close behind, his wariness setting your nerves on edge. The outskirts of Niamos’ capital city were deserted, only the distant sound of ocean waves lapping at a shoreline and the occasional gentle breeze rustling the large fronds of the palm trees above. You’d been walking for hours, darting from one abandoned alley to the next, tracing Cassian’s footsteps carefully and taking your cue from him. Every muscle and bone in your body felt heavy like lead.
As if he could read your thoughts, Cassian turned to you. “It’s just up there,” he whispered, pointing to a small, nondescript building nestled between a holovid shop and a grocer, both storefronts darkened and empty. You nodded, grateful to think you might be able to rest soon.
Cassian reached back with his left hand until his fingers found your wrist, gently twining around it. He darted across the dim street, tugging you behind him protectively. When the two of you finally reached the doorway, Cassian dropped the pack from his back and began rummaging through it, looking for a key you assumed.
“Hey there! You two!”
You jumped as a distant voice split the quiet of the sleeping, semi-abandoned street. Cassian froze, both of you exhausted from running and hoping against hope that you weren’t hitting this roadblock mere inches from safety.
“It’s past curfew! What are you doing out here? Get your identification out!”
Shit. You saw the same panic in Cassian’s eyes as he met yours.
“City security,” he murmured. He rose from a crouch on the front step, looking over your shoulder in the direction of the voice. The hair on the back of your neck prickled, but for some reason you couldn’t bring yourself to turn and face the threat.
“What are we going to do?” you hissed. By now, the Empire would have your identities flagged across the galaxy. Showing your identification now would render your harrowing escape from Ferrix completely irrelevant. Niamos security would hold you until the Empire collected you, and from there…
You swallowed thickly, trying to hold onto logic as you felt your hands begin to shake.
“Do you trust me?” Cassian murmured as he gently pulled you between him and the doorway, out of the line of sight of the approaching guard.
“You two! Identifications!”
The voice was louder now as the guard drew closer. Cassian gently gripped your chin, guiding your face back to meet his gaze.
“Y/n, do you trust me?” he repeated.
You sighed in frustration. “Cassian, do you think if I didn’t trust you that I would be here ri-”
Before you could finish, his lips crashed against yours, swallowing the remainder of your rhetorical question. You tried to pull back in momentary surprise, a squeak of shock loosing form your throat, but you felt Cassian gently press himself against you, flattening your back against the doorway of the building behind you. He raised his right arm and rested it on the wall next to your face, hiding your face from the flashlight beam of the security guard.
Your thoughts scattered as adrenaline surged in your blood, a mix of fear and thrill. You hesitated for only a moment before you returned Cassian’s kiss. His lips were warm and soft, the rhythm of his kiss felt as natural as your own heartbeat. You felt his free hand come to rest against your hip, pulling your pelvis away from the wall and into his embrace. Your heart stuttered in your chest at the sensation, and you let yourself melt further into Cassian’s warmth.
“‘Ey! You two! I said, identifications!”
The guard couldn’t have been more than ten paces away now. The sound of his voice felt like an anchor, dragging you down out of the bliss of the moment. A surge of resentment flooded your stomach as Cassian broke the kiss. He didn’t move his arm from the wall next to your face, and you noticed the way he shifted his body to keep you obscured from the guard’s light.
“S-sorry sir!” Cassian called back, his words slurred. He swayed unsteadily on his feet. For half a breath, you wondered if it was the kiss that had undone his composure. You knitted your brows in confusion as he continued to teeter like a tree caught in a strong wind. Cassian caught your eye and winked at you, a half smirk lighting up his handsome face.
“We… we-uh… we’re just-” Cassian’s voice was thick and halting, as if his tongue had swelled up. You watched as Cassian fumbled goofily with the pocket at the side of his pants.
“Where are you two coming from then?” The guard kept approaching, although his demanding tone had been replaced by a calmer wariness.
Cassian fiddled futilely with his pocket, turning half-round to face the guard. You hid your face from the direct light, tucking yourself under the shadow of Cassian’s still-raised arm.
“We were…uhm, damnitall,” Cassian cursed under his breath as he continued to pluck futilely at the snap on his pocket, “-at the Graalon Cantina.”
The pieces clicked into place at Cassian’s words. His slurred speech, exaggeratedly uncoordinated movements, the lie about being at a cantina: he was pretending to be drunk. Finally understanding the ploy, you reached around his waist and yanked him against you with what you hoped was a convincingly reckless display of abandon.
“C’mon baby,” you pouted, trying to mimic Casian’s imitation slurring. “Where’s the keys?”
Cassian shot you a sidelong look of surprise, a flicker of delight in his dark eyes.
“Sshsssh, c’mon, getyer identificashun out,” he replied, his tongue stumbling expertly on the consonants. Over his shoulder, you heard the guard chuckle.
“Graalon Cantina, eh? Sounds like a fun night.” The guard’s previously commanding bark had softened, and you heard him chuckle knowingly. Your heart leapt at the thought that he might actually be falling for it.
“Hopefully i’ssnot over yet,” Cassian called back, earning a louder guffaw from the guard. You let out a giggle, adding a hiccup at the end for effect. Even though it was an act, your heart skipped a beat at the implications of Cassian’s smart retort. Don’t be so desperate, you chided yourself, trying to stay focused on selling the lie for the guard.
“Alright, well listen, it’s well past curfew. Normally I’d have to issue you both citations, but I hate to ruin the fun. Is this your place?”
“Yessir,” Cassian replied. His head had dipped down towards yours, a few locks of his dark hair falling loose 20forehead. You could see his individual eyelashes from this distance, hear the sound of his breath. Taking advantage of the scene that you’d set up for the guard, you let yourself lean into Cassian, catching his lips in yours again. This time, it was Cassian who was surprised, his reaction delayed but greedy. You felt a flush stain your cheeks and throat to think that there was a total stranger watching the fun. Is this your place?”
“Alright you two, get in there before I have to give you a second citation for public indecency. Don’t let it happen again.”
You felt yourself relax at the guard’s words. Cassian smiled, fighting down the note of relief as he replied gratefully. The surge of relief numbed the accuracy of his faux-drunk slurring, but the guard didn’t seem to notice. You watched as the beam moved down the street, the guard’s footsteps fading, leaving you and Cassian a quiet darkness against the doorway. When you could no longer hear his boots on the cobbled street, you and Cassian let out a unified shaky exhale.
“That was genius,” you murmured, a note of awe saturating your words. You caught a glimmer in Cassian’s eyes even in the darkness. You hoped he would lean in and kiss you again. But instead, he stepped away from you, dropping his gaze and clearing his throat in embarrassment.
“I’ve always been a good actor,” he mumbled, raking a hand through his hair as if trying to shake off a weird dream. Your hopeful heart crumpled in your chest. An act, that chastising voice reminded you. That’s all it was.
You swallowed, trying to wipe the breathlessness off your face as you nodded in agreement, straightening and stepping aside from the door. Cassian returned to his pack, fishing through its contents as an awkward silence stretched between you two. He finally withdrew a small scramble key, its side marked with the red starbird symbol of the Rebellion. You watched as Cassian slotted it into the keyhole at the door. With a soft click, the door sprang open an inch, revealing a pitch blackness in the interior of the building.
“This is an old Resistance safe house,” Cassian whispered as he pushed open the door and beckoned you inside. You obliged, barely registering his words as you tried to settle your mind. The inside of the house was so dark you couldn’t see anything. You shuffled in as far as you dared, leaving enough room for Cassian to crowd in behind you. He did, letting the door shut out the soft noises of the night. In the total darkness inside, all you could hear was two sets of breathing as Cassian fumbled along the walls next to the door, searching for a lightswitch.
“Why are you so hellbent on helping me?” The question slipped out of your mouth before you had a chance to stop it. Something about the fading adrenaline of the kiss mingled with the sting of your hurt pride at Cassian’s rebuke made you bold. It didn’t hurt that you couldn’t see him either. You weren’t sure you wanted to know what expression he was wearing at that moment.
There was a moment of heavy quiet as nothing but the sounds of your breaths hung in the empty entryway.
You heard a soft click as the lights flicked on. The hallway stretched out long in front of you, a row of windows visible at the back of the house. Beyond the windows, you could see a very dim horizon over an expanse of ocean. Niamos was primarily an ocean planet, although you hadn’t realized how close you’d been to the shore outside in the darkened city street.
Across the foyer, Cassian was staring at you. His eyes looked haunted and heavy. He moved towards you a fraction of an inch, his hand twitching at his side as if he were going to reach out and touch you. Your heart twisted with restless hope. But something stopped him, his movement freezing and extinguishing as his face contorted slightly from something painful you couldn’t see. When he spoke, the intensity in his voice hit you like a ton of bricks.
“I’ve got my reasons,” he replied cryptically before he picked up his pack and disappeared down the hall, turning right at the end and climbing up a stairway you couldn’t see.
“You take the downstairs bedroom,” he called back to you. “We should only be here for a few days before I can get you safe passage to Coruscant.”  His footsteps faded into the recesses of the house, which was apparently much larger than the unassuming doorway let on. You heard the soft thud of a door closing, plunging you into a lonely silence. You stayed rooted to the spot in the entryway, grappling with the realization that you were no longer content to let Cassian say goodbye…
