Can interest you in a potentially controversial Stobin headcanon in what sounds like a trying time?

If so; Steve and Robin share girlfriend at some point.

Not in the “turns out that time we were both dating girls named Crystal? We were in fact dating one girl named Crystal. Who *somehow* never put it together that my Steve and the Steve she was two-timing me with were in fact the person!”

(This does in fact happen - I’m thinking when Robin’s in college and has met like, three different Crystals (one of whom has parents that lived in the same commune as Robin’s! Such a shame girls named Crystal have been *ruined forever*).

It’s a pretty surreal break up for Crystal; not only are her boyfriend and girlfriend turn out to be actually best friends (in her defence, Robin has taken to calling him “Stevie” at this point and the way she talks about him really conjures the image of a standard preppy bitch who’s been Robin’s best friend since kindergarten, and Steve (in retaliation) tends to use “Rob” and “Robbie”, leading Crystal to believe his Robin is male), and seem almost as angry about this as they are about the infidelity.

Crystal’s attempts at explaining herself and apologising result in Steve retorting that he’s not even mad that she’d want to date Robin - Robin’s fucking amazing! If Crystal had just told him that was what he wanted, he probably would have been okay with it - which Crystal takes as Steve being a bitch, but is something Robin will point later as her realising that this is something she might be okay with.)

Anyway, I figure this is something that would happen when they’re in their 20s and/or their 50s. They’re either approached by a woman who thinks they’re a couple (“does it make our marriage more or less of a sham if we’re sharing a mistress?”) or they approach someone they both have a crush on a la Troy & Abed asking out the librarian.

I don’t think either of them would identify as poly, per se - it’s very much “if it’s you, it’s okay”, and if the girlfriend breaks up with one of them, it’s assumed she’s breaking up with both of them.

I just kind of like the combination of Robin and Steve as Platonic Life Partners, trying to figure out polyamory and just how absolutely Buckwild (Robin’s Wrestler name!) it would be for their [potential] girlfriends and anyone on the outside of the situation. Jon and Eddie just sat there, listening to Steve ramble about the situation bc it’s Robin’s date night and just…bluescreening. Argyle smiling and nodding “happy for you, man. I love system mob and Shigeo for so many reasons and one of them is the comedy potential. Mob and Shigeo having full blown conversations in their head and they don't realize they've been silently staring at the wall for 12 minutes while the others make sure they don't walk into anything. Mob and Teru being Not Straight and the entire time Shigeo's just judging him. Mobs just trying to bat him away with a newspaper so he can have his damn date in peace. I think Shigeo being fucking Goofy as well as, y'know, literally terrifying is underrated.

Hi✨ I would like to ask your opinion on something. My dom and I have been together for year and a half, most of our relationship has been online cuz we are from different cities and he has been dealing with a family situation. The thing is sex and sex play is on and off depending on everything going on in his life and I'm pretty okay with that but I have picked a pattern of his and I don't think I like it.

I have seen that we have seasons, seasons we play hard and seasons we play less. When we play hard sometimes we do it for weeks or even months but then he suggest something that for me is a hard no, at least while we're apart (is always the same thing) and I always suggest that we can try it in the future and that I'm not completely close to that, just that while we're apart I don't feel completely confortable. When he says that normally he suggests it 2 o 3 times more in very subtle way during the course of the week until I stop to explote. Then he says he's never going to suggest it again and then the sex decreases until even if I ask for permission to touch myself he doesn't really care so I stop asking for permission at all. And the the cycle starts again.

Yesterday was the day that I exploited cuz the particular punishment he suggested and even more for the lack of attention he was giving. Today I tried to have a very mature conversation about everything, we even completed an excel about kink compatibility. I said my part, he said his and for me I only said that I needed him to know me better to break me to the point were it was still safe for both of us, that I needed trust, confidence and devotion from his side so I could be fully submissive. He said he understood, that he will not suggest that again NEVER (so the cycle is complete) and that he didn't like that I was telling him what and what not to do, and that he also didn't like that we had to plan everything.

I don't know, I don't want to get through the cycle again, I'm just confused and really don't know what to do.

FYI in the compatability test he has way more "hard no" than me, even in things I would really love to try but even with that, I would never push him.

So this time I don't know that to do, I don't know if I should encourage more difficult conversations and try to solve this and wait for him to return home for good. If you haven’t given him an opportunity to see and consider the pattern you’ve uncovered, then I feel like you should go the “difficult conversations” route. Imagine Cale falling for someone the opposite of him. They're poor, live alone, and have never told a lie. General headcanons:

I know it's a commonly used pattern on clothing in the game, but I headcanon that teen!Sol adds that little diamond-shaped pattern to their clothes, because they want to match with Flulu as they grow. Because this is a "Flulu and Sol love each other very much" corner of the fandom.

If Noctilucent was less genocidal, they'd be the reluctant supervisor of all the kids, whenever they venture outside the colony. They'd be Tang's favorite Gardener, and they'd help her realize that Instance probably isn't the best role model.

This may as well be canon, but Utopia is up there with Kom in being loved by the kids - no matter the time-line or universe. They think she's the coolest. (Nem had a little crush on her, once upon a time).

The Overseer, while duty-bound to follow their instructions, is actually bored with the status quo of things. If the humans can learn to co-exist on Vertumna and repeat their past mistakes, then they're actually delighted to see new, intelligent life on the planet. I feel like a lot of those little "Sol vibes with nature" moments in the game? That's the Overseer joining them, feeling their connection to the Wormhole.

Sol and Dys are the Overseer's favorite children, no matter their choices. They don't know, but they've got a god-like grandparent following their every step on the planet.

This is related to another AU I have, and not so much a headcanon as it is canon to that AU, which I've called the Solution AU, where Sol and the Overseer do some ✨✨ space magic ✨✨ and send Sol's soul back to before the Convergent Domain and make Sol a part of Vertumna itself in preparation for the Statros and Helios to arrive, but: in that universe, where there's no Sol among the Stratos, Flulu and Geranium adopt Tang and Dys, and because Flulu isn't afraid of calling Instance out on her unhealthier mindset and the like, they end up as happier children and more open-minded.

Okay, Everyone Knows AU lore time:

Because Tang is already aware that Instance, though having good intentions, is in fact not a Good Person. This means she's also a lot more critical of Instance's methods. This results in Instance gaining herself a tiny rival - annoying at best, when Tang is still pint-sized, but much more of a threat to her position when she's grown and learned more from the Gardeners. There's mutual respect between them, and Instance is proud as a teacher, but a part of her also despises having a child, of all people, question and counter her every move.

Let's talk Governor Eudicot. Eudicot knows there's something up with the kids. She doesn't know what, but she knows there's something with them. All the adults do, but most chalk it up to trauma from the crash or an extreme reaction to suddenly being planet-side. She's particularly baffled by the almost complete 180 from Marz, but... she can't say she isn't pleased with it. I dare say Marz ends up as an unexpected favorite amongst the children, right alongside helpful and cheerful Sol.

As stated numerous times before, Sol is living their best life. Just always so happy and relaxed, it'd driven Vace up the wall, if he hadn't also changed. It's to the point where the Helios think their augment is just "always being happy". Nope, they have Calm Temperament (because that's my favorite augment for them). They just suddenly have nothing to stress about, and their friends are just getting along so much better now? Wow!

Truth is, of course Sol can tell something is up, much like Eudicot. They're a little oblivious, but not stupid. Noct has never been around like this before, Sym is always on the verge of collapsing from laughter, and Vace hasn't broken Rex's arm. They know that for this many things to change, something seriously big must've happened while they were out cold. But at this point... who can blame them for not wanting to question anything? This time around, Sol can get to be a child and grow at their own pace. Nap in the sun, goof off in class, roll in the dirt and all the things they haven't got to do in a long, long time.

As stated before, but even more so for this AU, the Overseer loves Sol to pieces. Truly grandpa's favorite little star child.

I thought I would put together a post with some of my absolute favorite ROTTMNT fics, because these sorts of posts made by authors I love have been what lead me to find them! So why not pay it forward and keep the hype up :) Also I'm intense about organization and archiving and making this record soothes me lmao.

In this post I'll be recommending completed multi-chapter fics. In no particular order, here they are:

Every Night the Longest Day by ashtreelane

-One of the first rottmnt fics I read. I think I maybe stayed up until ridiculous hours reading this. one of those reads that is An Experience. The way that the brothers care for one another is so tangible. The author's conveyance of dissociation/mental fatigue is so interesting and engaging.

KOSMARA by MagpieCrown

-A fic I'll be thinking about for a long, long time. Takes everything I love about the Bad Future and makes it even more bittersweet. The relationships between the characters are what sticks with me like knives in the heart, but the worldbuilding is also so clear (I can see so many settings in my mind's eye so easily! and they're inventive as well!) and the action/climax is incredibly intense. Moreover, the way some characters are never present in the narrative but have such a Presence... not one but two "haunts the narrative" vibes... oh wow. It's really just masterful.

The Call Back Home by @gooseinsurance

-The concept at the center of this fic's narrative is soooo interesting and cool to me!! I think about it, like, all the damn time. One of those ideas that you pick up and stare at in awe and file away into your personal understanding of canon forevermore. On top of that, the frustration you feel at the character conflicts is just palpable. It's heart-wrenching. Moreover, the way the author handles what I suppose could be classified as psychological horror is commendable and was invigorating and chilling to experience as a reader.

Under Pressure by ParvumAutomaton

-I never thought anyone could ever get me to read something about cave diving. Much less horror in a cave diving setting. That sounds like my worst nightmare lmao. And yet. I am so freaking glad I gave this fic a chance. It is one of my all-time favorites, and I know it will live in my brain rent-free for a long time. Leo's characterization and the way he handles scenarios is so realistic and feels so him. Moreover, the way the narrative unfolds and the pacing are so well-done. I could not stop reading. (And for those of you still squeamish about cave diving, there is less time spent underwater than you'd think!)

The Corner Store by KicsterAsh

-A turtle tots fic!! A rare feel-good recommendation from me with littel angst and much comfort and sweetness. I love the speculative biology of mutant turtles in the cold (brumation?! oh no!) so to see a take on it that is so wholesome and charming and well-written was very happy-making for me.

Hollow Mind by paperxcrowns @crows-murder

-Something grimmer than I would have thought I would like, but what really sucked me in is the way this is totally deserving of that tour de force description reviewers like to use so much. It introduces something that is missing from canon but could slot in easily in a darker tone: human experimentation/capture, gun-weilding agents, and separation from family/being stranded and running for your life. All in all it has a very Jason Bourne feel to it that I never thought I would love to see enacted with the turtles, but my gosh it works and works so well.

What are some LDR green flags and some LDR red flags? (bonus points if there's some ace specific ones)

Sorry I took forever to answer that one TwT

I mostly saw a lot of green flags in my own LDR, so it was hard to find red flags at all hehe TwT So I had to talk it over with my partner to get their side too...

In terms of green flags, like I said, I've experienced a lot, but I would say a surefire one is vibing for the same activities to do (either remotely or during the times you can meet in person), and of course, it might sound silly, but just the sheer realization that meeting in person doesn't feel weird, that it just feels either as good or even better than speaking remotely. It speaks volumes. (Ace-wise, personally, I would say few things can beat the feeling of being with that person physically, maybe cuddling and whatnot, and being like "...Ah, wow, I feel really safe with them." It's an ugly reality of at least my own ace experience but I have basic fears of being even the slightest form of physically intimate with most people for a long while; I used not to but then I realized that some people will want that to lead to more, and while that's never put me in danger, it definitely was a cold shower to remember. So... Yeah. Feeling safe is wow.)

Some points that my partner and I would advise to be mindful of, so it doesn't turn into a red flag, would be the following:

Be transparent of when the other person is available/up to talk/etc, and be transparent if YOU're not available or not feeling it today, otherwise it can lead to worries.

Don’t cut the line of communication in the event of an argument. It can be tempting, using a remote speaking service, to just hang up if things escalate, but it won't solve anything. Taking a break is fine, but it's important to basically take the argument to a calmer conclusion, and work out dynamics to calm things down and feel better, not let resentment or stress simmer on forever.

On a similar line, don't bottle up if you feel bad. If the person can't see you, or at least not as often, it might be harder for them to pick up on signals of you don't being as well, so it's important to mention if needed.

Getting your parents and friends to respect your relationship and the time you devote to it. Now that one was tough for my partner and I because we weren't out to our families for quite a while, to preserve ourselves, but that also meant basically that, externally speaking, our families just saw us as texting someone a lot or videochatting a lot, which the less open-minded people will associate with not having a life. It's important to advocate that it's important, even to yourself, if nobody else will do it. And that's definitely a tricky one that you might need to fight for.

Overall basically always communicate and have a genuine want to work on things. LDRs are work, but they're definitely worth it if they make you happy.

Finished watching the first season of Dr Who and it's still cracking me up he's listed AS "Dr Who" in the credits at the end of each episode.

Anyway wow that was extremely british and colonial and each episode invented new ways to be british at a group of people. Can't believe that the final run of episodes had me confusedly trying to work out if I was sympathising with The French simply to be reactionary against the general vibes of like, society having moved on since '63.

Scraping off that layer I did enjoy some of the stuff underneath, but all the characters were prone to falling into patterns that modern media just would not do, like the extreme gendered roles of Barbara and Ian even though they're both school teachers of otherwise equal standing. They WERE raised in post-war Britain so I can hardly blame them being the way they are since they've got no other context.

Ian cracks me up with the behaviour because he's so stereotypical (and gets into a few weirdly homoerotic scrapes while attempting to swashbuckle in a way where knowing he's just a science teacher in a cardigan at heart makes it all the funnier). Barbara is my favourite character by dint of personality most of the time as she's usually perfectly able to stand up for herself and think her way out of things and it's usually just The Narrative or other characters assigning her to maternal side quests, as well as her own instinct to look after Susan. Ian seems less willing to openly show that sort of thing, again just because he's a guy of the times so I have to assume it's unspoken that he cares exactly as much but doesn't get put in the situations where he constantly shows it.

But time has wandered too far on for me to really appreciate if Susan was very radical at all because she did end up in so many Situations with shrieking and needing to be rescued (which I hate to say of a female character and she has been fun but also the story itself seems determined to single her out for imprisonment, sickness, or whatever to make her suffer and therefore be looked after or worried about or rescued). Teally the most otherworldly she ever seemed was the first episode where she was hitting all the "this is a space alien" red flags while trying to blend in at school. Also that one time where they wanted you to think people were getting possessed and she just went at Ian with a pair of scissors to try and stab him in a semi-fugue state which in hindsight after finding out there was nothing wrong with their minds in that episode is hilarious and so cool of her.

And Doctor Numero Uno is less otherworldly than her by miles. He's EXTREMELY a posh old englishman of the time, and aside from saying he's from another planet you'd never know it from his behaviour. He is very snappy and paternalistic to all of the others and also random people they meet on their adventures, sometimes not even people opposing them, just randos who he can get something out of by startling them with good old British Assuming If You Talk Loudly And Authoritatively You Get What You Want. He's best when he's being a professor and worst when he's marching about taking charge which he does an alarming amount after only experiencing New Who up to this point in my life to compare.

He has also very much clobbered multiple people over the head which was hilarious and excellent. So I know if I ever have to rank the doctors on their willingness to kill a man I know he'd irritably pull the trigger and be done with it.

Knowing where this character goes, he really seems like an unempathetic start point that is unknowingly burdened with decades and decades of storytelling to come and he's yet to be put through any of those wringers and so he just doesn't KNOW all these things yet. So while I'm not exactly enamoured by him or finding him to be a sort of grandpa-like figure or anything, he's a very compelling start point just to know this is the same person who has all these lessons to learn from where he dismisses, overlooks and snaps at people who in the future he'd meet as equals and see and understand all sorts of pain. Not truly intentional but he's reflecting the way we as a society would want to relate to the character I guess and so is ready to accidentally embody that social change as he goes.

At the moment the man's never met a real consequence in his life so far as I can tell, or if he has, he's keeping it so close they're not even foreshadowing there's anything darker to him yet, cheery willingness to kidnap random teachers aside.

I don't know when they start delving into the Doctor Lore but he's got zero of the accoutrements aside from the TARDIS yet, and it's not even wholly clear he's even not human, just that Susan claims they're from the 49th century, which with no other information could mean anything but so far you could just assume they're future people (she may also just be a future person not a timelord - I have heard SO little about her aside from references to her existing as a character so I'm curious what gets fleshed out in the in between here and now to explain where she came from and who she is once they start making the Doctor into some sort of eldritch being compared to everyone else)

Special shout out to the lady in the telepathic aliens episode who was like "welp my fiance's brain has been ruined, I guess he should be killed" and then as soon as he was cured was like "Oh I'm so happy you're alive! This is the best day of my life!" and then five minutes later sold everyone out for her own skin but as far as I can tell met no consequences for any of this and they flew off together at the end. WILD look into the way side characters were written for the plot beats and not given any emotional interiority or at the very least had someone ask wtf they were saying. I feel like the modern Doctors would have been Obsessed with her.

Also shout out to the very good special effects in the weird acid sea island fortress episode where a guy got punted through a trapdoor and fell into the waters below. Truly a special effect of all time. This is what Disney Money has taken from us etc etc.

Sangyao for the ship game?

WOW I forgot I decided to do this meme, I am so sorry for leaving you hanging, anon!! (and also to the other people who sent me asks, I will get on those now) so:

but as with most of my non-xiyao ships, I don't think I sail this particular one the way lots of other sangyao shippers do, since 1) I think there is very little canon support for it, and 2) in all of my non-jgy ships, I can never divorce jgy from his feelings for lxc. so even when I ship jgy with anyone else, he still loves er-ge best, and that is bound to be something that not everyone is here for.

that said, here are my answers to the other questions:

1. what made me ship it?

it was their vibes in cql, I think! I loved how quick meng yao was to throw himself between wen chao et al. and nie huaisang during the cloud recesses reception in episode 4, and how nie huaisang immediately shrank back behind him. because he trusted meng yao to take care of him--meng yao, who may or may not even have a golden core at this point, has not been raised among cultivators, but who nevertheless on pure instinct places himself in harm's way to protect chifeng-zun's easily flustered didi. in the novel, it was all of the gifts that jgy showered on nhs after he becomes jin guangyao, and how much joy and delight nhs seems to derive from his visits, as well as receiving such thoughtful gifts from someone who seems to actually understand his interests. I'd also be lying if I said I wasn't a little 👀 over the possibilities of what these two often underestimated men could accomplish if they were given the opportunities to do what they do best and support each other while doing it. (well. jgy would probably do most of the supporting, but I won't throw nhs totally under the bus in that department).

2. what are my favourite things about this ship?

this is another area where I expect my answer is not going to be super popular among some other sangyao shippers, but whatever, here goes. probably what I find most compelling about this ship is that, no matter how attentive and loving and devoted to meeting nhs's needs as jgy is, nhs will always know on some level that in jgy's heart, there can only be lan xichen. and given the darkness I think is absolutely present in nhs's heart even before nmj dies, I think there is a lot of potential for gothic horror-romance there. tl;dr this is not the ship I reach for when I want to indulge in some happily-ever-after vibes, even when I am hoping to use a romance between the two as part of a canon-divergent fix-it.

aside from that downer, I do like that nhs as a person is just extremely hands-on and tactile with how he interacts with others. in a sangyao ship, I imagine this was something that shocked jgy to start with, but I can also see it being one of the things that he comes to cherish most about their relationship. because nhs just doesn't care about the world's perception of him, and it does not occur to him to be too concerned with the world's perception of jgy either. he wants to drape himself dramatically across his san-ge and beg for help with these wretched grain tariffs, and no one is going to stop him, and as much as this probably exasperates (and frightens, on some level) jgy, I don't think he would give that up easily.

3. is there an unpopular opinion I have about this ship?

y... yeah. lol. a lot of them to be honest. I do not vibe with the idea that jgy would ever have chosen to do nhs harm prior to figuring out that nhs is behind the complete destruction of his whole life, and so when I see jgy being cruel to nhs physically or emotionally in fic, I smash that back button. I also don't think that a happy ending for jgy involves becoming nie-furen (or nie-er-furen, if nmj is still alive) anymore than I think he would be happy as lan-furen, and while there's far less fic for this than there is lan-furen, I still just sigh when I encounter even fanon speculation about it. jgy isn't a lan, and he isn't a nie--he's a jin, and I think while nhs is blind to a lot of things, he would not be blind to something like that.

26 years I have lived and never, even once, using or having a tumblr account. But now, here I am, just because I'm so obsessed with your fic that I want to grasp at anything related to it.

Do I have a question? Let's see, let me come up with something.

Ok, first, how would you actually describe Kaigaku in the fic? I just have this mental image of him just being Tengen but with a scowl and less flamboyant. Basically, a huge guy, but somehow I feel is not quite right.

Second, how did you approach writing the fic, I imagine you have a general layout of thing but how specific or unspecific is it? I have some fics under me and I want to make the jump and write a long fic, but just dont know how to approach it. It's, as expected, a Kimetsu fic.

And third, with spoilers of the fic I guess, who the hell is the muscular girl!? No, no. Don't answer that, I swear, my hair is already going white because of a family genetics, and you are not helping.

So third, the Tamayo swap and Demon Zenitsu, just wow, those two things, the build up, the Little clues leading to them, how did you reached those ideas?

I have this little theory born out of hope and naivity, that Zenitsu will be human again, you know because of the whole maybe in another life, and to preserve the ships. I'm not gonna bet on that one, I would actually lessen the whole tragic vibe, but what do I know.

And I find hilarious the idea that of all the fics I read, this is the only one where Tamayo and Yushiro are actually in a relstionship, assuming is like it was with the Ubuyashiki in canon. Yushiro must be really happy with the children... I need to stop trying to compare your fic to canon so rigidly.

Now to answer your questions:

(Spoilers for up to Chapter 11 of Children of Fuchia Light and Demon Fire + Vauge Manga Spoilers)

Kaigaku is certainly one of the characters I’ve had the most fun outlining and planning his role/backstory in this AU. If you’re caught up, then you know that while certain elements to his history have remained, some important changes have been made that have pushed him towards development in a (slightly) positive direction.

My original intention when writing Kaigaku was for him to be a sort of weird fusion of Tomioka’s loner personality and imposter syndrome with Shinazugawa’s aggressiveness and need to keep people he cares about at an arm’s length to protect them. But slowly as time went by and I worked more on delving into his new character, I was able to evolve Kaigaku into someone that I hope was a bit more complex.

The main takeaway I’m hoping I can implement with Kaigaku’s character is that it’s honestly up to the reader to decide if they think he’s worth defending.

Kaigaku has done many shitty things in his life, and as much it will later be revealed his reasons for doing SOME of these things, there is no excuse for them.

The difference between him and his canon counterpart is that here, he’s FINALLY facing the consequences of his actions and being hit with the realization that he’s hurt others and ruined so many lives of people that took a chance on him. The smoke has finally cleared from his eyes, and he’s hit one of (if not the) lowest points in his life. He was saved from committing one of the greatest sins known to mankind, and got what he thought he wanted, but at such a high cost that he realized it wasn't worth it at all.

He knows he messed up big time, and is left with nothing but an overwhelming emptiness that he barely knows how to cope with. I won’t spoil everything, but shortly after becoming a hashira, he finds a new purpose in his life, a reason to keep fighting, and clings to that as the new Thunder Pillar.

He is in many ways like Shinazugawa and Uzui, being loud and angry when provoked and putting on a front to keep people from seeing the real him. But he also becomes like canon Tomioka, in that he doesn’t see himself as above the other hashira, knows his life isn’t worth anything, and accepts that he is a coward who will never change but still tries to do some good with the time he has left.

Now, writing this fic took A TON of time and planning ahead. I didn’t even start writing the first chapter I think until maybe a month or two before it was published. The idea for the fic itself came (I believe) maybe the summer that Mugen Train hit theaters when my hyperfixation on the series had reached an all-time high (lol).

Honestly, one day I just opened up my Pages App on my computer and started jotting down scenes and ideas for this AU. I still use it to this day, but basically whenever I had an idea for a scene/fragment for a conversation, I’d jot it down.

One of the biggest pieces of advice I’ve gotten from my writing professors at college is to just write everyday. It doesn’t have to be a whole story/chapter, or even ten or five pages. Even if it’s just one page, one paragraph, heck, one sentence, that’s progress! It’ll slowly become easier to build up a consistent schedule for yourself, and soon you’ll look back and see how much you’ve accomplished.

I apply that here too. One day, I may write a paragraph or a page of the next chapter. Another, I’ll work on a character bio I left half-finished or jot down a quote/bit of a scene I want to use in maybe the next book or chapters from now. Even fun things like ranking my hashira based on popularity amongst their peers or who’s strongest overall counts!

If you are starting out, I HIGHLY recommend creating a rough (and I cannot stress this enough, ROUGH) draft of a timeline of how events will unfold. It can be a huge paragraph summary with no spaces about how much you’ve thought the idea through, or a bullet-point outline going chapter by chapter if you want! Then, slowly, work little by little fleshing it out until a story starts to come together.

Nothing says it has to be completely finished either for you to start publishing. I’m still trying to figure out finer details about what will happen in Book One while also debating still how I want certain battles in the Infinity Castle Arcs to go down.

Sometimes, it even helps to have a few docs dedicated to certain elements. For me, I have my ones for writing chapters, one for character bios (containing info such as their age, appearances, weapons of choice, background, character arc ideas, etc.), one for keeping track of major timeline events, and one for just putting future ideas down (the Pages one mentioned before).

Ultimately, it’s up to you! But start with something small, and work on it a little bit more each day. It may be hard, but seeing all that you’ve accomplished will be very rewarding!

For this one, I’m going to keep my lips sealed. Simply because her identity will certainly be surprising, and I’m still planning a lot of her character since I don’t plan on her being a major player in the AU until much later.

The swaps took a lot of planning to do, but a lot of it had to do with the fact that I was REALLY nervous people wouldn’t like those decisions.

For Tamayo, this comes from my experience of never having read a fix-it or role-swap AU where she was head of the Corps. I’ve seen one or two where she takes on Muzan’s role as the demon king, (and I believe one where she even became Nezuko’s cultivator), but never as a leader for the demon slayers.

Based on what I’ve read of the manga and seen of her in the anime, I see quite a few similarities between her and Ubuyashiki, especially when it comes to strategy and just having compassion for people in general. She was so awesome during the Infinity Castle Arc, and I wanted to do a little more with her character here while giving her a fresh role with some new motives and positions of power.

It won’t be for a while, but if you’ve kept track of the small details shared in the most recent two chapters of the story, then you can probably start to piece together how exactly her character/story has changed and the future paths that may align with them.

Plus, I thought the cats would be a fun mix-up! Not to mention giving our favorite fluffy cat messenger Chachamaru a bigger role in one KNY fic!

As for Zenitsu, I went back and forth on this a lot. I liked his character in canon, and I was initially planning on having his spirit be released after Gyokko’s death (like with canon Sabito and Makomo). However, as I wrote Chapters 6 and 7 with him, I realized that I wanted to do more with him, especially with how important he became not just to Nezuko’s training, but to her growth as a character. In a way, he was her goodbye to the rest of her childhood she lost to the demon attack. And yet, he helped Nezuko find her center and better understand the training she was struggling with for so long.

His importance to her character and the person she has become cannot be overstated in this AU, but the same can go for Kaigaku as well. After all, Zenitsu’s “death” ended up being one of the most traumatic/life-changing moments in Kaigaku’s time as a demon slayer.

To him, Zenitsu proved that although he was a coward, he was willing to stay and defend his family, even when against an unimaginable evil that was surely going to kill him. And by staying alive as a demon, Zenitsu has become living proof of the shameful, cowardly person Kaigaku is, and will have to eventually face the physical manifestation of his consequences.

With the final confrontations that can come from Kuwajima, Kaigaku, and Nezuko, I realized that I can certainly do a lot more with him in this position. Zenitsu impacted each of their lives in some capacity, and him being alive is going to have major repercussions on them in the final arcs. I haven’t finished planning out everything related to those encounters, but I certainly have thoughts about how I want to conclude his arcs with them (and how it will affect the Thunder Fam now and in the future).

But I won’t spoil anything about your theory, so just wait and see…

And regarding your last question, I’m so sorry to say, but Yushiro and Tamayo are NOT together. If you recall, Yushiro refers to the kids as “your children” rather than “ours.” Here, he’s sort of an extra hand/servant with a devout loyalty to Tamayo (and maybe holding some feelings towards her).

Plus, since Tamayo did have a husband in canon, I thought it would be fun to include him here as well (but more on him will be revealed later). I will say he will be an OC since we have no info on him, but I do have some ideas planned for his character. He probably won’t appear until Mugen Train events (similar to Amane), but he and Yushiro will sort of share the same role of supporting Tamayo as she goes through with her duties as Head of the Corps.

17. What’s something you’ve learned about while doing research for a fic?

So many things. After all the research I did for the A&E fic I was like "I am basically a medical professional" and all my friends that ACTUALLY work in health care were like "lol you are barely qualified to hand out bandaids" and I was like... "well I guess you're right." My google searches while working on that one were WILD I kept getting popups from Google with crisis management hotlines telling me I wasn't alone 😭 The DUMBEST thing I learned while researching a fic was for the Infection Verse Christmas Fic, and that was when I learned that Belgium is only a 2 hour train ride from London which sparked an entire debate in my friend group about how when we all went to the UK last year, and I was suckered into going back to Paris (my least favorite city) for the night, I could have gone to Belgium and had a BELGIUM WAFFLE IN BELGIUM for a shorter train ride. Don't worry though, I've made such a big deal about it that I'm going to get my waffle when I go back this summer 😎 The things we learn while researching fic lol

18. What’s one of your favorite lines you’ve written in a fic?

Another line I really liked is from the Infection Fic Verse Christmas Fic - It's Christmas (So This is Gonna Be a Nightmare) It gave me Pete Wentz vibes personally, and it might seem pretentious and ridiculous to the reader but WOW did it make me go hell yeah this is ridiculous and I love it: Despite how fucking happy he was, he also couldn’t recall a time when he had been more paranoid that one wrong move could send the fragile house of cards that was his life crumbling down around him like waves against the shore beating down a sandcastle.

24. Share a moodboard for (one of) your current WIP(s).

Oh god, okay SO I've never made a moodboard before BUT I have just attempted to throw one together for my upcoming Equestrian AU - all of the pictures came from Pintrest I apologize if this is horrific my Equestrian AU is my self indulgent baby at the moment which is why it is the fic that gets the mood board lol I also have no idea if I even did this right because I've never made one before...

I watched every Paranormal Activity movie, and I regret the majority of the process. So don't even click on this if you're not ready to hear a rant. SEVERE rant.

Wow, this is the worst franchise I've ever had the misfortune of watching. I had to POWER through these. I did it simply because... I'm a masochist? Mm, maybe. But also I'm a horror fan. And this series is beloved. And I just wanted to UNDERSTAND.

And I never will.

Because this was about 90% garbage. It is the same movie over and over and over. It's the same movie five times at least. Not in that way where people go, "oh, it's formulaic." No, I mean not a goddamn thing is different. The scares are the same. The pacing is the same. All of it is the SAME. The next time someone bitches about Friday the 13th, I'm gonna ask DO YOU LIKE PARANORMAL ACTIVITY? THEN STOP TALKING.

But I said five. There are seven movies. (seven what have i done with my life the time so much time just gone) Two of them attempted to buck the formula. The Marked Ones and Next of Kin. I don't know if I'm merely brainwashed by watching the same thing happen time and again, but I found these two films to be so refreshing. Like a cool glass of water in the desert. I actually ENJOYED them. The Marked Ones would probably work on its own if it wasn't for the fucking ending, but it genuinely did something else. When it didn't start with that NIGHT #1 shit I just about cut a flip I was so happy. Also, the characters were really genuine, and the story actually made me feel sad. I FELT A THING. And the dudes killing witches with shotguns got a grin out of me, too.

Next of Kin feels like... one of those Hellraiser movies that has Pinhead in it, but you know the original script wasn't even about him? Yeah. ONLY GOOD. It's a slow burn, but it has some truly chilling suspense as they start sneaking around in places they shouldn't be, trying to find answers. And the third act just goes hog wild. It gave me V/H/S series vibes with the creativity and the truly bonkers ending. So if you like that sort of thing like I do, try it. You don't have to watch the other movies. It's so disconnected from them.

Oh, and Next of Kin was the franchise killer. They probably won't make anymore, because it bombed so bad. I want to cackle at the sky. Audiences really are that vapid. They could not handle being shown something different.

The one thing that sort of kept me going with the series was Katie as a character. When you watch her boyfriend basically abuse her until she becomes demon possessed, you can't help but root for her. Her becoming a vessel for evil just kinda seems like... good for her territory. There's something to that, I guess, but it's so fucking minor. She becomes less and less of the focus with each movie, and then when they decide young actors will suffice, it gets unwatchable. Because, no, I don't want to see kids try to improv. Spare me, please.

Normally this is not what I'd do. I'd rank them. This would be all structured and nice and excited. But then I realized what would be the point of me going AND IT SUCKED AND IT SUCKED AND IT SUCKED AND THIS WAS OKAY AND THIS ONE WAS ACTUALLY GOOD FOR ONCE. Like I can't do that. I'd rather not go through each movie saying the same thing, because they are all the same thing. I'd rather just make a nice, healthy, blanket statement. Series BAD.

If someone hate read this for some bizarre reason, tell me why they're good. Tell me why I'm wrong. GIVE ME SOMETHING. Convince me. Don't cuss me out and call me a whatever new internet slang for stupid person. Give me something real here. What is it about this that has so captured audiences and made it a modern classic?

romance and layla:

okay now that i am out of voice chat and can fully add to the convo, i will elaborate on layla's love life because i can. to start, while layla in her companion au can have casual relationships with daeran and the supposed kc, and an actual romance with the later, when i try to think of who to ship her with i always go back to lann as the true answer lol. it's probably in part bc i decided very early on i wanted to romance him, and built her personality in part to work with that while also just having happy coincidences happen that made it more fitting (the reading scene where layla realized she had feelings for him 😌).

whether or not the two would get together in a companion au is based on the paths they would take, but best scenario where neither of them are romanced, i could see them ending up together in the epilogue bc i love them and at that point the two of them would be in healthier mindsets to pursue one. plus, i can very easily see them traveling the world together in their good endings, even before a romance started, bc they both share a desire and fascination with travel and seeing the world.

their dynamic is one of balancing each other out, and respecting each other's view points to the point it will even shape their own, as well as helping each other reel in the their more self destructive tendencies, which i don't think would go away in the companion au, even if it was less in focus due to the nature of the mechanics of the game.

as for the two of them realizing they had feelings for each other, i feel as though lann, as awkward as he is, was aware of his own feelings quicker than layla was of her own, and in his own awkward way tried to at least seek out spending more time with her even if he had complicated feelings about pursuing an actual relationship. meanwhile layla was more oblivious to her feelings (act 2 chaos as it is) but began first developing feelings after he promised to protect her, as she's never really Had someone promise her that before and it. meant a lot to her. more than she realized lol.

on if either of them fell in love at first sight, i don't think so lmao. there was way too much going on during the prologue, but i think lann came to at least admire her pretty quick which develop into romantic feelings, and the safety she felt around him and their ability to listen to one another had her fall in love with him soon after. the fall first versus fall harder trope i suppose. layla Did think for a moment when things were calmer during the prologue 'wow look at that chest! he just walks around like that? i'm not going to say anything 👀' tho Lmao.
