Itachi

Keeps it romantic and simple

Bringing you home after a date (cause he's a gentleman like that), gives you a quick goodbye kiss on your lips, leaving you all red and flustered

Looked forward towards your first kiss for a long time, but didn't want to rush anything so he wouldn't make you uncomfortable

Very gentle, just like him in general. Will tease you about your flushed face the next time he sees you though

After that kisses your lips every time he sees you or says goodbye

After a nice and relaxing walk in the late evening with Itachi he decided to bring you home, even if it was a bit of a detour with him. You protested at first, saying that as a shinobi you weren't in any danger, but Itachi stayed stubborn.

"Thank you for walking me home, even if you really don't have to", standing on the step before your door, about to unlock it, you turn to Itachi one last time.

"I'd rather have you get home unharmed, even if I'm home 10 minutes later", Itachi answered, his beautiful obsidian eyes looking deep into yours.

Before you could do anything he leaned towards you, pressing a soft kiss onto your lips, holding onto your shoulders. After a few seconds he separated from you and gave you one of his rare smiles.

"Have a good night, my love", he wished you before returning home, leaving you with a red face and small smile on your face.

"Well, my dreams will certainly be nice tonight", you whispered to yourself before unlocking the front door and going inside your home.

Shisui

Probably happens at a really random time

He just suddenly felt like kissing you, so he did

Obviously thought about it first, boy is intelligent

I like to think he'd spar and train a little with you, then you 2 take a small break and he leans in to remove a leaf from your hair. Once it's gone he keeps his hand on your head and lean in, pressing a soft kiss onto your lips.

Will laugh if you're embarrassed though, not making fun of you, just teasing

Exhausted you leaned over, hands on your knees and panting. You and Shisui have been training for quite some time now and both of you were absolutely exhausted. He dropped himself down beneath a tree, patting the spot next to him. You plop down and grab your water bottle, the sip being a relief on this warm spring day.

Shisui was very intensely staring at you from the corner of his eye, noticing you grin up at him.

"Is there something in my face?" "No, but in your hair". Shisui leaned closer, taking a leaf out of your hair and placing it behind your ear.

"Thank you, I feel like a true princess now", you giggle, enjoying his warm hand so close to your face.

"Wait, there's also something in your face", Shisui said, rising his eyebrows in surprise. You wipe the hem of your shirt over your face.

"Is it gone now?", you ask, looking up at Shisui, not wanting to run around with something on your face the whole day.

"No, not yet. Wait, I'll get it for you", Shisui offered and you nodded thankfully. He put his hand onto your cheek, pulling your face towards him until his lips met yours. Closing his eyes in enjoyment, he stayed in that position for quite some time.

After separating he smiled warmly at you, the taste of your soft lips still lingering.

"I think it's still there", you blush a bit, inching closer in his direction.

"Oh, yes, you're right, I see it", with that he kisses you again.

Naruto has a multitude of characters where their writing is heavily based in queerness and queer experiences. From the devotion two characters have for one another to a point where they would trust each other with their lives, to feeling like the other one is the only person who truly to their core understands them and accepts them for who they are despite their flaws and issues they’ve done in the past.

Naruto as a series is so queer in its writing that the writer - whether intentional or not - made the main two characters always run after each other even if one of them fell into darkness, saying he’d shoulder the pain he’s holding just so he can be near him and you’re saying you think… Obito is gay?? The guy who literally lost his mind over a girl??

Edit: I’m talking about canon btw. Hc if you’d like I’ll always support that, but he’s not canonically gay or bi. His character is rooted in his love for a girl and the only reason he saved kk was to have time alone w Rin because he didn’t want him interfering. He’s in love w Rin and only Rin in canon🙇‍♂️

obito's version of madara's life and konoha's foundation etc. is so funny like it just makes no fucking scents! lol. like .. i remember when i read this for the first time i was like um. huh?? like madara and his motives, it all seems so nebulous in there. the uchiha and senju, they want to make peace but madara is like ugh, no, i would rather keep fightinggg 😣 but then he's like alright man, whatever, we will make peace but THEN. hashirama wants to become hokage (which .. not true) and like madara, again, is like ummm no, EYE want to become hokage (also not true) lets fight to the death abt it. and also his clansmen, they hate him (that part is true i guess) but he also did tell them before that he'd rather keep fighting! so his brother's sacrifice would be worth it like obito is like "i told them WHERE is ur fighting spirit?? where has all ur hatred and willingness to keep killing each other gone" or smth and like "madara" in the memory is shown to like rant abt it to his clansmen who then do decide that they hate him (which. understandable?? LMFAO) and at some point he's like well they BETRAYED me :( so i left the village to come back later and fucking blow the shit out of it like it just doesnt make any sense? Madara makes no sense in this story. maybe the real madara was just fucking senile as fuck when he told obito all of this but like obviously he also wanted to hide some details. no details abt him and hashirama, no details abt the nature of their bond and his death etc. but i think he might also just not be a very good liar. asfsgdhds. like he just doesnt fill in the blanks very well. doesnt seem so concerned abt how all that makes HIM look either. he's just like yeah, i was obsessed with power and battle so i destroyed everything for myself ^_^ not MY fault tho. write this down. and obito is like alright alright .. ✍🤨 sure

its ironic kinda how the general public have kind of swapped the way itachi loves sasuke and the way sasuke loves itachi in their heads.

people say all itachi did was for his brother, that he murdered all those people to protect sasuke but thats just not only untrue but actually the one who said he wanted to destroy the village for what they did to itachi was sasuke. his love for itachi was the one who was ready to do stain his hands for.

meanwhile people also say sasuke was a bad brother because he didnt respect itachi’s wishes when in reality. it was itachi who wanted to put sasuke under control to protect the village even against his will.

their relationship is so messed up but people read it backwards. sasuke is the one who put his love for his brother above everything else, who would destroy everything for leading itachi to his death. meanwhile itachi is the one who takes the role of big brother to the worst possible degree where he cant view sasuke as anything but a child and then proceeds to try to control every aspect of his life because sasuke in his head is a kid who has to be lead by his hands in every step of his life and its not until sasuke points out all the ways he has wronged him that itachi finally stops (before dying again lol)

yes, they love each other deeply but its only sasuke’s love the one that has never hurt his brother while on the other hand itachi’s love for sasuke it’s so twisted he ended up being the one person who hurt sasuke the most

Starting controversial here

Him not seeing or spending time his child for years?? Nope. I reject the notion, IMMEDIATELY

Idk who that man is in Burrito, but Sasuke would be there for his kid while still “redeeming himself” not that he should have to but that’s another argument for another day that I don’t feel like having

He’s a damn UCHIHA that can basically TELEPORT like?? So you just want to do him that wrong for what? Whyyyy

Anyways, probably has a special stuffy he swaps places with in the kid’s nursery

It’s a whole magic trick to his child that never gets old

zip zap, daddy’s home and baby is giggling, reaching for him

Not saying he’d wake them up on purpose if he arrives and they’ve fallen asleep

But he’d definitely try to hold their hand and poke their cheek a little and would chuckle to himself when they furl their brows

Looking like him when they do that

This man has no clue what he’s doing at first tho

Babies are complicated and he’s never had to be delicate with someone like this, help?

He’s not going to actually ask for help, just look pleadingly at his partner or Itachi

He doesn’t baby talk his child and would discourage the others from doing it

Once the child is out of the baby baby phase. He’s got this

Will talk to them about their ‘so bad it’s cute’ art and want to hear about all their little ideas

Nearly cried when they said “your the best, dad ever” because he doesn’t agree but at the same time his kid doesn’t care about his flaws

Takes said artwork with him on missions along with his favorite photo of them

Will have beef with a 5 y.o. If he hears they’ve mistreated his kid. That little shit, Kabocha smh

Itachi

Gentle father

He takes to being a parent so naturally that you would swear he’s done it before

His kid will always come first, which might (will) be a problem for his any of his work

But assuming he’s left the Akatsuki, he’s raising his family in the countryside

Lots of family time and forehead pokes

Cuts their food up until they’re old enough to tell him to stop he’s crushed

If his child gets scared because of thunderstorms, he’d let them sleep in his bed. Might even give them a pleasant genjutsu filled with all their favorite activities to ease their worries and help them sleep

And speaking of his abilities; his sharingan? Yeah, he’s comparing their height to Sasuke’s when he was little

Will join them in their silly adventures. Lizard watching? Why not

Let’s them get away with almost anything

And that’s exactly how they would end up with a bunch of cats and chickens

He’d regret a lot of his actions in the past and that would make disciplining them tough

Hates being away from them because he feels he’s going to miss something important

Madara

All those brothers were training material, he’s beyond ready to meet his child and hold them

From day one he’s so proud of them

That first cry filled him with so much pride

His partner is definitely going to have to ask him to give them the baby

He’s going to brag about this child, his heir, future leader of the Uchiha no one can tell him otherwise

His partner will find him knocked out with their little one resting on his chest with a bunch of rolled blankets and pillows around them on nights they’re particularly fussy

They want ups, they’ll get ups and he’ll carry on with his conversation

Seriously the only man that can get his nose honked by his child in the middle of a conversation with Hashirama and act like nothing happened

Can’t help but prank his kid a bit. He can’t help himself

Definitely let the kid play with a blunt kunai before. “What? They like it.”

He takes taming their hair on skillfully if they inherited his fluffy mane

He’s not going to coddle them but if they get hurt running about, he’ll help them up and dust them off before ruffling their hair and giving them a small nod

They got this, they’re HIS child after all

Teaches them how to play shoji so they can hone their strategy skills

If they want to cry to him about their blues, he’ll listen, but he also wants them to think of how they can change what’s bothering them

Gives them exactly one warning before the kid gets to learn the hard way

Fully for letting kids be kids

But also a “did you win?” Father. Fights happen, but as the clan leader’s child, they shouldn’t be losing fights

Would snag and carry them like a sack home if they were causing problems around town

While loving parenthood, He secretly would hate them going on their first mission. He’s going to basically quiz them on different scenarios and push them in their training

If he thinks they’re not ready, he’ll tell them as much he’s also going to go to Hashirama to make sure they actually have a team that can make sure his child doesn’t die on their first mission. But shh

Kid gets a little sweetheart they’re stealing kisses around the village with? He’s disgusted

they’re still wet behind the ears wtf kid could be 18 and he’s still not going to like it

Izuna

This man was in denial that he was going to be a father until he was holding his child and was like “woah”

He’s nervous around the baby

Take it, QUICKLY

He’d warm up to them immediately once they look at them

Thinks they look hideous tho. Sorry, kid

He’ll watch as they’re changed and fed, wondering how tf these things survive when they’re so fragile

Sort of a worrywart and extremely selective of who gets to hold his kid

Smiles really warmly when his kid smiles at him

The excitement he feels when they take their first steps surprises even himself

He’s having to question who this excitable person he’s morphing into

They are the best dressed kid and he makes sure of it

Also makes sure they’re keeping up with Madara’s kids in their training

Brings them treats regularly as they grow up

Tells his kid that they are better than others

And DO NOT speak to his kid if you have a problem, speak to him directly. Unless you want a bigger problem

Don’t think for a second his child wouldn’t be his minion

They will collectively diss people over dinner and laugh about it💀

Tells them stories of when the Uchiha were rightfully leaders in their own rights before this whole Konoha BS

Uncle Madara is great, but he’s still not on board with this plan

He will coddle them a bit. It’s not that he’s trying to necessarily, he just cares too much and can’t bring himself to not protect them from everything

As long as he’s breathing he will personally insure that they’re safe at all cost

Inari

Also can’t believe he’s going be a father, but he’s excited

Very prepared for parenthood

He’s taken advice from clan elders and has a naturally warm relationship with his child

Makes them eat healthy all the time

Reads to them regularly

Loves taking them out for walks and beans with pride any time someone compliments his kid

Believes education is important and reinforces a love of learning

Genuinely gets concerned about the friends they surround themselves with

Accepts that they are their own person quickly

Teaches them basics of making medicine and how to identify herbs

Tenko

He’s talking to his kid before his partner is even showing, he’s that excited

Will poke any foot or hand he sees pushing out from said baby bump because he thinks it so amazing and a little funny when they “fight” back

He would NOT sit outside and wait for the birth like most men of the time

Yes, he will argue with a midwife or two, his partner needs him and he needs to be their

tears of joy for their new baby

Love at first sight. his kid is perfect in his eyes no matter how they arrive

Lots of kisses to their sweet little temples, hands, and feet

Thanks them for choosing him as their father and promises he’ll make their life full of laughter and love

Definitely the dad that has to carry/wear his baby everywhere

Plays with them all the time

Definitely made friend with some Aburame and Nara to make sure they have butterflies access and fun shadow access

His get will get told all the fun fairytales and get a dramatic reenactment of them as he’d dress up as one of the characters

Let’s them splash their heart out in puddles

If his kid gets sick, he’ll probably get sick too from cuddling them to sleep

Gets a little emotional when they outgrow certain things and activities

This kid has the ultimate accomplice; Tenko is not going to tattle on his kid if they didn’t do anything wrong. Heck, he is more likely to help them get away with it

Cheers for them the loudest during their training with other kids

Kota

Having a kid brings out his softer side

But send help

He’s clueless and knows he’s clueless

He’s seen battlefields and those didn’t make him nearly as nauseous as blowouts and spit up do

Is genuinely afraid he’s going to mess this kid up, so seeks advice from his brothers

He’s not very interested in trying to hold them as a newborn, but will hover over his partners shoulder to look at them

Most likely to laugh if the kid snores because, what is that?

Takes pride in his kid

Dad jokes

Another one that will have beef with a child on his kid’s behalf

Takes his time to try and understand their POV on matters

But still might argue with them if he doesn’t agree. However he will always apologize

Can’t stand seeing his kid cry and will do just about anything to cheer them up

Wants his kid to be a bit more bold than he was as a child and encourages them to speak up for themselves

Warnings: arranged marriage, non-massacre au, both Itachi and Y/N are awkward as hell, some thigh exposure from Itachi, small mention of a cut (nothing graphic), the tiniest bit of angst (if you squint)

The day your clan elders told you, you'd get married to Itachi Uchiha, your whole world turned upside down

The wedding would take place in only a few months, during that time you had to prepare yourself mentally, but thankfully didn't have to plan anything except letting your measurements get taken by a seamstress

You and Itachi had been friends for some time, so the next time you met the ambience was... awkward, suffocatingly embarrassing for you

Sure, you had a crush on him for a while now, but marriage?

A first date would have been nice, a first date that you both wanted, not your clan elders or politicians

Your wedding was only roughly three weeks ago, but you slowly but surely eased into your daily life

It had been decided that you should be a housewife in order to take better care of, the admittedly rather big, house and future children

You sigh as you grip the knife tighter and finish cutting the vegetables, as you throw them in a pot

Itachi would come home from his mission today and although you were excited to see him again the subtle uncomfortableness you felt around him never faded

Was it awkwardness? Guilt? Sadness? A mix?

Shaking your head you decide to simply focus on dinner, not wanting to sort your emotions out right now

Suddenly you feel a hand on your shoulder

Quickly turning around and looking up you saw him: Your husband

It was still weird to call him that, but at the very least he wasn't a stranger and actually cared about you, even if it wasn't in a romantic way

You smile gently up at him as he looks into the pot on the stove

"It looks delicious Y/N, I thank you from the bottom of my heart", he expresses his gratitude

"I brought you a little something", he says and pulls out a bouquet of flowers

"Those are my favourite", you mutter amazed, "Thank you, Itachi"

You carefully the flowers out of his hand and shoot a soft smile up at him

"Why don't you take a shower while I finish dinner and then we'll eat together"

You remember the pure bliss of finally taking a relaxing shower after a mission, washing all the sweat, dirt and blood away and your heart fills with nostalgia

Itachi nods and awkwardly continues to stand there, debating in his head if he should give you some type of physical affection

A hug? No, he's all dirty

A kiss? Hmm, no. He doesn't want to risk making you uncomfortable

Finally he gives you a small shoulder rub before disappearing into the bathroom after grabbing fresh clothing out the bedroom

As soon as he's out of sight your expression changes, your lips pressing into a thin line, your eyes looking down

Had he been in love with someone else he would have given them flowers and joined them for dinner

You sigh as the guilt continues tucking on your heart

Whenever you see him the guilt just continues washing over you like a wave - no, more like a tsunami

You sigh and take a sip of water, trying to swallow your feelings

Letting the food brood on the stove you set the table and out the flowers into a vase, it was simple yet elegant, made out of porcelain and having dark details over the pure white

Meanwhile Itachi stares down at the shower floor while letting the water flow down his back

You seemed happy while receiving flowers, but while he touched you he could feel your tense muscles

Were you truly happy?

You're an incredibly sweet person who would have no trouble finding dates or a partner

Am I keeping them from finding true love?

He sighs and splashes some water in face, stepping out the shower to eat dinner with you

But suddenly he felt a slight sting on his thigh, he grits his teeth and checks

Just as he expected, the cut he received on his mission had burst open again and was bleeding rather heavily

Thankfully none of the arteries were hit, but still, he didn't want to bleed through his pants

He quickly dries off and puts on his clothes

Should he ask you? After all, you're first aid knowledge is greater than his

But would you truly be comfortable with this much exposed skin?

The cut was closer to his pelvis than his knee, he'd have to take off his pants for that, he can't just roll them up

No, the thought of distressing you was too much for him to bear

So Itachi unlocks the bathroom and, to his relief, notices you're still in the kitchen

He sneaks into the bedroom and quietly gets out the first aid kit

Just as he opens it, a pair of hand grabs the bandages and holds them up

"Where are you injured?" you ask with a worried expression, your brows furrowed

"My thigh, rather high up. So if you're uncomfortable with that...", Itachi doesn't finish his sentence as you shake your head

"It's fine. Unless you are uncomfortable"

You could practically see the awkwardness in the air

The atmosphere so heavy you could cut it with a knife

Itachi slowly slides down his pants to his knees, exposing the wound on his thigh

You quickly get to work, disinfecting the wound

"I apologise if this burns", you mumble, taking Itachi's hand into your hand, "you can just squeeze my hand if it hurts"

"It's fine, your hands are very gentle" he stammers, eyes basically glued to your hands and actions

Just as he said those words he already wants to slap himself

Why? He doesn't know, it just feels like he made it only worse

And then your hand in his...

God, he should just man up and tell you how he feels

Maybe then this terrible, constant awkwardness would fade

"There, all done", breaking the silence you look up at him, your face a little red from seeing him in his boxers

You quickly get back up and half turn around, giving him privacy to get dressed, but also being able to turn your head for eye contact in case he says something

Itachi gets up and dressed himself quickly, clearing his throat to get your attention

"Y/N... I- Thank you for helping me bandage this up", he chickens out last second, but manages a smile

Not a forced one, not an awkward one, not a pity one, but an honest, warm smile

One that was exceptionally rare for him

Flabbergasted you inhale sharply, but regain control over your emotions and grin back

"I'm glad I could help you", you simply reply, patting his back

Delighted to notice he wasn't tense at all, speaking for the fact he might not have been as uncomfortable as you first thought

As you two sit down for dinner Itachi takes a deep breath and finally speaks about what's been bugging him for so long

"Did I rob you of your chance to find true love?"

At first you stay silent, sinking down your chopsticks back onto the plate, looking at your water glass in hope of the perfect answer manifesting in your mind

When it doesn't come you just verbalise your thought, wild and chaotic as they are

"No. Not at all. I know you have a lot of girls crushing on you, and I am one of them"

You murmur, your voice shaky, shy, nervous, scared he'll be uncomfortable around you know

Hi there. I am sending this probably silly question because you are one of the few fans of both Sasuke and Itachi that I know, and this has been bugging me since the first time I watched Naruto.

So, Itachi wants Sasuke to be stronger, to kill him and go back to the village as a hero that killed an alleged Konoha traitor. But why does he tell him to kill his closest friend? I understand Itachi wants Sasuke to get the Mangekyou to get stronger, but this would surely make him a criminal in the eyes of Konoha. Also, I think it is unnecessary, since Sasuke could have gotten the Mangekyou after killing Itachi (which didn't happen in the end, but it was a possibility). I understand Itachi wanting to be sure, but still... He was risking way to much here.

It also does not make sense for Edo Tensei Itachi to "scold" Sasuke for being a "criminal" (he was not really scolding, but you get what I mean...) when he himself urged him to commit a way worse crime. So he says "I turned you into a criminal" but, actually, Sasuke never did what Itachi asked. I understand Itachi feels guilty for way more things than he deserves, and indeed he might be responsible for Sasuke leaving the village and going to Orochimaru to gain power for revenge... But anything that happened after Itachi's death was actually Sasuke's own decisions (decisions that came as a result of legit rage against Konoha for committing a genocide, of course).

I know Itachi was a child, traumatised, isolated and under inhumane pressure at the time. In these conditions, it is understandable that he did not make the best decisions, that he was not acting completely logically or thinking totally straight. I am not judging him in the slightest, I just would love to read your views on this.

The rules of the Shinobi world are vastly different from those of ours. In the Shinobi world conflict is endless and lives hold different values than they do in ours. You may not face a trial for taking a life, much like you might not get a medal for saving one. Sakumo Hatake, for example, saved the lives of his comrades and ended up being shunned by the village, including the people whose lives he'd saved.

Itachi, after he killed his own parents, was leaving Sasuke in a place that had made him murder his own parents. Hiruzen was a weak shield and Danzo still lived in the village. Itachi wanted Sasuke to get strong, not only to kill him, but also to be able to protect himself in case Danzo made a move against him. An Uchiha, even with a simple Sharigan, was seen with fear. An Uchiha, with Mangekyo, would be formidable. Thinking from Itachi's POV, he was leaving Sasuke in a very hostile place, known for its belligerence towards Uchiha. What was a defenseless child supposed to do in case Danzo's Root came for him and Hiruzen proved useless? It didn't happen, but how would itachi know it wouldn't happen at all? Especially when Danzo did send Sai to kill Sasuke instead of letting a troop also follow them so they could take down Orochimaru, who had actually attacked the village.

Itachi had a flawed perception that as long as Sasuke lived, everything else he went through would be worth it, including his best friend's death. To him, Sasuke's life mattered, not a stranger's who might become his best friend. I believe he changed his mind later on when he met Sasuke and Naruto at the inn. He saw Naruto risking his own life, fighting for Sasuke despite being horrified of Itachi moments ago. It's probably after this that he made his mind to include one more objective to their final battle.

He also understood Sasuke didn't hate him at all. When he says 'you don't have enough hate', it's the truth, because when Sasuke learned Itachi was back and was after Naruto, he rushed to warn Naruto, but all he thought about was Itachi, their final day together before everything went wrong. And then he charged on Itachi, unprepared. We've known Sasuke to be calculative and in control of his emotions almost all the time. He loses it the moment he sees Itachi. Even if itachi tried to ignore him he wouldn't sit back. This wasn't the response of someone who had hate in his heart, but too much of emotional investment.

Yes. Itachi was always risking a lot. Him taking up the mission to annihilating his clan, then leaving Sasuke, and basically everything that followed - all of it was a gamble. Things could go either way. Sasuke had to be safe, for which he had to be protected all the time; but for him to become strong, Sasuke would have to train and practice, maybe go on potentially life threatening missions as well if he wanted to be strong enough to kill Itachi. Itachi's plan was always a double-edged sword. It could go either way.

Itachi blames himself for Sasuke's actions because he controlled a large portion of Sasuke's life. He did it unwillingly, in tears, in guilt, yes, but he did do it. Like I said above, he thought as long as Sasuke was safe it would be worth it. Itachi was somewhat responsible for Sasuke leaving Konoha, but not entirely. After Sasuke wakes up in the hospital, he challenges Naruto, because Naruto had suddenly become so strong. Even then he couldn't defeat Itachi. Then Sasuke, who had lived his whole life for the purpose of killing Itachi, was still no match for him. After Kakashi's pep talk, Sasuke even considers dropping the idea of revenge or at least struggles with it, thinking about Naruto, Sakura, and their bonding. Then Sound Four attack him. The rest is history.

After Itachi's death, while everything that Sasuke does is his own call, his own decisions, they still stem from the life Itachi made him live, and him not finding any closure. Yes, Itachi didn't want Sasuke to know the truth because he knew it would destroy him emotionally, and it happened exactly that way.

Itachi didn't scold Sasuke, he merely accepted where his plans failed. Itachi and Sasuke are very rich characters in terms of psychological depth. I'm no psychology student, but I love to read stuff here and there, and one pattern I've seen in both the brothers is that of 'age regression.'

When trauma impairs your ability to develop full emotional maturity, this is known as arrested psychological development. Trauma can “freeze” your emotional response at the age you experienced it. When you feel or act emotionally younger than your actual age, this is known as age regression.

It's very common in how both Itachi and Sasuke respond. Many people say 'Itachi always saw Sasuke as a child to protect instead of a grown up' and he himself says this as Edo Tensei to Sasuke later on. I believe it's because, emotionally, he too never grew up beyond 12-13 and in some ways beyond four. To him he was never above 12 and Sasuke was never older than 7. All of his reactions to his life, however bad and with disastrous outcomes, are out of unresolved PTSD. It's the same with Sasuke and how he responds to his surroundings. Both of them were emotionally 'frozen' in the age they were traumatized. At the age of 12, even though Sasuke is too mature for his age, there's still the longing for his family and he remembers every single detail of his moments with them. Then after learning Itachi's truth too. I believe while he's a grown up now in Boruto, there's a part of him that's frozen in that moment when he found out about Itachi. Since Itachi isn't mentioned in Boruto and Sasuke's feelings for his family aren't the matter of discussion, I don't think I can prove this.

When Itachi saw what he'd made Sasuke - not a criminal or a monster - but a lonely, broken kid, he felt ashamed of himself. He feels so guilty because of his conscience. It's also because he was free from any obligation towards anyone after his death and was very flexible in face of new information that he admitted his wrongs.

Itachi, in fact, never realized what haopened to him was wrong too. His actions weren't spontaneous. On the contrary, they were the outcome of what was done to him. But unlike Sasuke and Kakashi, for instance, he did do many things wrong. Sasuke felt guilty for not being able to save his family, his clan, and then Itachi. Kakashi felt guilty for not being able to save Obito, then Rin. Even if it wasn't their fault. Itachi did a lot of things that were entirely unforgivable and he knew it too. So, his guilt outweighed any desire he might have had to acknowledge his trauma. He defined himself by the horrible things he'd done. Objectively, there would be a lot of nuances that you could consider, but fictional characters can never be objective.

When Hashirama praised Itachi, Itachi would never agree with him. When Sasuke called him perfect, Itachi disagreed with him. When Kabuto called him a genius/exceptional Itachi disagreed with him too.

Itachi felt nothing but regret his entire life, which eventually defined him as a person.
