cats don’t live as long as humans so their years are a lot shorter, we know this. personally i feel like measuring a cats life in years would be like measuring your age in decades or something.

Cats Musical World Building Headcanons for Jellicle Cats and Pollicle Dogs:

Jellicle cats and Pollicle dogs when with their own kind, hang together in small groups or medium-size gatherings. But when a Jellicle Ball and Pollicle Ball happens, everyone is present. Attending the Ball is mandatory, be it lurking or visiting briefly before leaving.

On a full moon or near full (waxing gibbous) moon, boundaries between humans, Jellicles, and Pollicles weakens to where humans (not all) can talk to/understand, and vice versa. Humans who can talk/understand them are call Humans Who Know.

When the Ball happens and the Moon -Jellicle Moon or Pollicle Moon- is full, the boundary is nonexistent. Anything is possible now, especially regarding humans.

Jellicles and Pollicles during a full moon or near full (waxing gibbous) moon can transform into human form, looking like they’re wearing stylize costumes. Being human size in human form requires more energy and effort*, so Jellicles and Pollicles don’t attempt it unless they’re prepare for the burnout to their regular form transforming back.

*Not to mention risky; many Jellicles and Pollicles in the past who showed their other form to regular humans got thrown out of their homes, or worse. Humans Who Know are much more accepting of their other form.

At the Ball, Jellicles and Pollicles always change into their human form, for the Heaviside Layer is only accessible to the Choice for reasons that even they don’t know.

There is an almost forgotten ball to Jellicles that is hosted by Humans Who Know. Pollicles remember this ball still, knowing the last ball took place in ~December, 1939. The new Pollicle leader has dwindling hopes another ball will be held again.

In this ball hosted by Humans Who Know, one Jellicle, one Pollicle, and one Human goes to the Heaviside Layer, with the Jellicle and Pollicle becoming Guardians of where Jellicles and Pollicles gather for their perspective balls until the next ball. As for the Human? No one knows...

Bonus Headcanon: The Junkyard that the Jellicles gather to and/or live and call home if strays, is own by a Man in White Spats, a Human Who Knows; only Old Deuteronomy knows of this, and is grateful.
