Homage vs. Copying

So I'm not feeling super great these days, but I still dip into Jikook spaces for a quick hit of lovely serotonin and to check up on my friends. Alas, I see some folks raging in the tags that JK is stealing Jimin's original concepts because he's too stupid or lazy to come up with his own... I'm not having flashbacks to BTS' plagiarism scandal, I'm not. I have thoughts--and lots of photo examples--about this topic, under the cut. Let's get into it--and keep it civil, too.

First off--let's just establish that folks have the right to use the Jikook tag to both celebrate and critique Jikook and the fandom around Jikook. People get to write about what they want on their blogs. They get to rant, so long as no one is using hate speech and slurs. (The minute I see that shit, I quietly report.)

Clearly, folks who are angry at Jungkook (or Jimin) come into the Jikook tag because they want attention from Jikookers, and the best use of my time and energy is to self-police and block them. That way I am not infringing on their right to scream into the wind all they like, but I also don't have to hear the noise.

Second off, unless JK called any of us up and said: "Hey, guess what? After 10 years of evidence to the contrary, suddenly I'm incapable of original thought, so I just take advantage of Jiminie-hyung, whom I keep calling out and hyping up and praising and asking to spend time with and traveling with and whose style I also match in my personal life!" maaaaybe we give the benefit of the doubt, and at least entertain the possibility that Jungkook is expressing visual alignment with Jimin because he can't just openly claim him in other ways?

Like, I'm not saying that IS what's going on, because Jungkook doesn't call me up and tell me his thoughts, either. It's fine; I'm not mad. He doesn't even text Jin back. I am just saying we should maybe sit with the idea for a bit and really marinate on what that might mean for a queer couple.

(Or we could just take in things without pronouncing any opinions yet--ya know, until we get more data around Jungkook's choices and how Jimin feels about it.)

It's fine not to assume the similarities are romantic gestures; but it's also fine not to assume the worst--that JK is siphoning off Jimin like a leech. Jungkook was consulted by the Seven stylist and he got to be creative director for his Vogue shoot; he also had some say in his music videos and performance stages. He is making choices deliberately, and it makes no sense to me that he would choose to openly copy a bandmate out of laziness. He has a professional reputation to consider.

Rather, I think this is one of the few places where he has artistic license to tether a thread between him and Jimin. I think he's paying homage.

(Side note: In film and photography, an homage is an imitation of another work. At first glance, it may seem like an homage is a rip-off or a lesser copy, but it actually pays tribute to and honors the source work. Homage is a great way to use other filmmakers' styles and content to crystallize your unique voice as a filmmaker.)

So that's my currently theory about what's going on.

Yet, honestly? None of us really know WHY there's so much similarity in their looks these days. The similarities are now stacking up so much as to be undeniable, though.

Personally, I'm leaning to this being a celebration of the fact that Jikook have always shared similar tastes; it's one of the many ways they click. Jikook know that. The stylists know that. So yeah, when JK gets a chance to observe and emulate (and expound upon) Jimin's style, he does. Because Jimin is one of the coolest people in the world to him. So he shows this in his own creative work and in his own personal wardrobe.

Here's why I hold that opinion at the moment:

Could this all be the stylists choosing to recycle looks or throw bread crumbs to Jikookers? I guess.

Could this be Jungkook just borrowing from Jimin as a shortcut? I'm not sharing his brainwaves, so I can't tell you there's zero possibility.

But what seems more likely is that of all the artists in the world, Jimin is the one Jungkook has always kept his eyes on. Out of love and respect, not malice and opportunism.

Like with the 1108 and 13 numbers that THEY keep inserting into their own communications, these similarities in style is also an emerging pattern.

If you feel protective of Jimin, I understand why you'd be wary of so much similarity. But consider what we know of both Jimin and Jungkook over the past 10 years...

While neither of these human beings are perfect (and they will continue to make mistakes), they clearly love each other. And you don't steal from the people you love. But you do honor how amazing they are whenever you get the chance.

So maybe let's just hear JK out on this?

Okay, that's all the energy I have for this topic. I got deadlines and health tests to power through over the next few weeks. If you comment with your own ideas, that's cool--but please keep it respectful of Jikook and each other. I don't want to banhammer anyone but I will.

Personal Do Not Read Witchy Author List

There will be a google doc with updates as I find more authors to avoid. These are all my own personal opinion and I do take the author's actions into account when judging their ability to write legitimate information.

TW: Slavery, serial killers, racism, TERFs, creeps, neonazis, asylums, and a slew of other super unsavory things. I tried to make this list as PG as possible while highlighting the issues with these individual people.

*Alestier Crowley. *

He's a literal piece of garbage. Misogynistic, thief of a toooon of closed practices, has entire cults still dedicated to him, called himself a voice of God (both Abrahamic and apparently like 5 Egyptian deities??? I mean excuse me sir how about no??) He also declared himself ‘above’ Gods back in 1922 calling himself Ipssissimus. I hate Crowley so much I have literally stuck a picture of him to a dartboard before. He can suck an egg in the afterlife. He also put his own wife in an asylum for 'alcoholism’ because she wanted a divorce. The only thing he ever did right was get kicked down a flight of stairs at a temple once by a poet.

*Anastasia Greywolf*

Appropriates at least Jewish practices if not every Indigenous practice there is. Wholeheartedly encourages people to use magic instead of going to a doctor for things like oh I dunno EPILEPSY And claims she has spells for like Marvel-level super powers which uh no Ana. You don't. Lots of Christianity for a supposedly FULL pagan and wiccan author. Her spells are all controlled like...so wrong. So, so wrong. Don't ask please. I can't begin to describe it. Advocates for smudging and uses phrases like "Cherokee Rituals", and the Romani G-slur.

*Gerald Gardner*

Made his own branch of wicca, the first technically, and his own coven had to make rules just so he wouldn't spill everything to any reporter that asked. Used Crowley as a main resource.

*Jason Miller*

Claims to do Hoodoo. A horrible formatter, and generally super dismissive of being a rootworker and other potentially closed practices, has not been initiated. Has claimed that anyone can petition/pray to Papa Legba without initiation because "Vodou is a congregational religion/practice". From the Vodou and Haitian Vodou practitioners I have talked to that is VERY incorrect, it may be congregational but you still have to be involved in the community to be trusted with those practices because so much of it has been bastardized for media and racism purposes. He is also a student of Catherine Yronwode, who is another SUPER problematic figure in the Hoodoo/Rootwork community.

A link of his own words on culture appropriation which includes mild inaccuracy towards Indiginous Peoples and that they don’t ‘own’ certain practices when it’s very clear the wording of those practices DOES in fact come from those peoples. He’s fine with people being Yogis, or Shamans, or calling satchel spells mojo bags, and other such phrases and won’t correct people if they use such words out of context because “language changes”. Also says if someone within a practice says it’s closed to go to ANOTHER AND ANOTHER until you find someone willing to teach you??? That’s not how it works sir.

Where to start...uses the G-slur often. (His grandfather was romani so it blurs the line of blood quantum.) Very sexist and obsessed with the idea of a woman getting uh...undressed for rituals while men stay dressed and more things I cannot say ina PG space??? As magic?? VERY anti-minor and LGBTQA+. Toxic, just plain toxic. Can't do it. I have read his Blue Book and it's the least problematic thing he wrote. I'm alright with it.

*Silver Ravenwolf* WhOOO boy. So super anti-christian, which is fine and dandy...if you didn't claim to be in a lineage of braucherei/hexerei. Wiccan, like the type of wiccan that says no other witchcraft exists and yet has written folk magic books??? She really needs to make up her mind. Claims Satanists don't actually exist. Claims most Jewish powers worshiped "the Goddess" (whoever that is)??? Very cult-like language about "not telling friends and family about your new life/reality/experience/whatever". Also SO MUCH APPROPRIATION. SO SO MUCH. She also gets her history wrong, on a lot of basic information that most non-witches know about like say the Salem Witch Trials.

*Catherine Yronwode* Ooh man. So Catherine Yronwode’s career started as a comic book artist. She’s worked on such things like the Elvira comic, DNAgents, and a gaggle of super controversial trading cards which included the Kennedy Assasination, a serial killer collection, and the AIDS epidemic. Of which she was sued for using one half of the Hillside Stranglers duo in said killer trading cards without his permission, the judge sadly threw the case out because and this is a quote, “ If Bianchi had been using his face as a trademark when he was killing women, he would not have tried to hide it from the police.” There were two more from her comic days, but those aren’t super relevant besides the one that pushed the envelope of what sort of trading cards should be sold to children. On the magical side of things, I will be blunt here: As one of the ‘big bads’ of the Rootwork/Folk/Hoodoo community? I really REALLY dislike her. She has made numerous false claims about New Orleans/Haitian Vodou and that it’s only a very recent practice, non-religious, and slaves never used it because it didn’t exist yet??? History books and entire generations will disagree. She also praises a book on Marie Laveau and yet discredits herself by calling New Orleans Voodoo a new religion/neopractice??? She’s just confusing as all heck to me.

*Christian Day* This guy’s just a creep. One stuck in the early 2000s mall goth phase even though he’s over 50. He also appropriates Hoodoo and owns two Hoodoo shops as well as multiple other witch shops in Salem and recently New Orleans on the French Quarter (Which is pure tourist fodder and not a reflection of true New Orleans Voodoo/Vodun/Rootwork). He has also harassed ex-employees so badly it’s landed him in court. His book The Witch’s Book of the Dead also reads very much like a list of accomplishments rather than anything useful. All about his television spots and experiences doing that. (Did I mention he was in an episode of Ghost Adventures? Yes, that one with Zac Bagans??? And it did not make us witches look too great, honestly speaking.)

*Yvonne and Gavin Frost* I dunno how else to say this, I really don’t. These two? Pedophiles. Multiple writings of theirs included not-safe-for-work-or-children rituals that must include minors. Avoid. AVOID AVOID. AVOID ANYONE WHO USES THEM AS A RESOURCE! This should NOT be okay in any circle. They are VERY used within the Wicca religion so please be careful!!

*Orion Foxwood* Some of his information is very sound! I can’t fault him there. He does have a tendency to blend different traditions without actively TELLING you he’s blending them though. He’s and this is a direct quote, “He is a witch and Elder in Romano Celtic-Traditional Craft, High Priest in Alexandrian Wicca and teacher of the Faery Seership tradition. He is also the founding Elder of Foxwood Temple and a primary founder of the Alliance of the Old Religion, a national network of covens in his line that have united to preserve the ways of his Elders. He was the co-director of Moonridge, a center for metaphysical, Craft and Faery studies in Maryland” That’s an awful lot of traditions to juggle and not only write on but actively teach. He also performs conjure, which in of itself might not be an issue but Conjure usually blends into Hoodoo really quickly if one isn’t careful! A lot of the traditions he talks about from his family sound quite familiar, he’s clearly from Appalachia but his books on the subject blend in his other practices instead of keeping them separate.

*Starr Casas* She’s in the same category as Orion, only she doesn’t necessarily give her credentials to be teaching Hoodoo, and even wrote a whole book filled with Hoodoo love spells. She also co-owns a French Quarter Conjure Shop, which if you ask any practitioners from New Orleans...is catered to pure tourists and not a true example of the crafts from the area.

*Shawn Engel* I’m gonna be blunt here. More appropriation of the Jewish practices, Hoodoo, and other information that is just plain UPG without saying it’s UPG and encourages throwing hexes at political party members solo. I read The Power of Hex and had to put it down numerous times just to gather myself and not throw it away, I don’t know if it was tone or sheer level of appropriation...likely both.

*Kate Freuler* Of Blood and Bones is chock full of Hoodoo, full stop. Only acknowledges that something comes from Hoodoo once and also gets basic mythology information on the Deities she mentions wrong in some cases. Also a lot of the book seems to be UPG because the bibliography is super small for a 300 page book.

*Dorothy Morrison* I picked up Utterly Wicked once. A very odd book full of Hoodoo and Vodun spellwork and misinformation, the author is also Garderian Wiccan so even the writing of a book full of hexes is slightly...concerning compared to the Wiccan traditions and redes. Odd is the best I have to describe how I personally feel. I will say this again: Voodoo Dolls are not used to cause pain, stop bastardizing that single aspect of the practice. Thank you.

*Helena Blavatsky*

I dunno how else to say this either, her philosophy and occult knowledge, called Theosophy is a portion of what inspired Hitler. Pure unadulterated racism veiled in a ‘Atlantian Race Theory”. Horrible stuff, read for a class project once and felt disgusting.

*Christopher Penczak*Whoo boy. On the surface he seems alright, one of the first ‘male’ witches I had ever heard of except for Scott Cunningham. But the more you dig into his work the more inaccuracies and Christian bashing you see. For example: Christianty was the first patriarchal society. Uhm...I believe you’re kinda forgetting the men who ran Rome and Greece there sir. He also fully proposes the ‘burning times’ were like a ‘witch holocaust’. NO! NO IT WAS NOT. You can’t compare the hundreds of years and MAYBE a thousand-ish people dying to the millions that died in the short timespan the Holocaust was a thing. Fuck Christopher for that comparison and also for claiming it was a ‘burning time’ to begin with. (History says that most were hung...or tortured. Burning is a very small number of that list in general.

He makes a lot of sweeping statements and sees witchcraft as a religion and NOT a practice. He whitewashes, fully harps on the Wicca = witchcraft = religion thing and THEN hones in on the difference between “white and black” magic and how cursing is evil and yet highlights certain practices that actively practice...cursing...as they have for generations??? He (atleast) doesn’t demonize Satanism but does still backhand the idea anyway, that they CAN’T be witches because witches only ‘heal’. Cultural appropriation and fetishization of ‘Native’ practices while calling them primitive all in the same breath, I just can’t with this guy. I really can’t.

*Amy Blackthorn*

Owns a tea brand called ‘Blackthorn Hoodoo Blends’ she is white. When questioned by BIPOC individuals she complains and blocks them instead of explaining why she chose the name Hoodoo for just teas. TEA. She is also the author of Blackthorn’s Botanical Magic, Sacred Smoke (A book on smudging yikes on trikes), and Blackthorn’s Protection Magic.

*Tarl Warwick *

Is more commonly known as Styxhexenhammer666 on youtube and other social media sites. Has written a pile and I mean a PILE of occult based books including ones on Hermetic magic, ritualistic magic, demons, solomon, folk plants and healing, Kabbalah, and many MANY more.

He makes no claim to being Jewish, and given his political wishy washiness, and multitude of controversies which includes claiming the Holocaust wasn’t ‘that many dead’, Charles Manson deserved release because he was ‘extremely innocent and didn’t kill anyone’, and fairly recently also wrote and published a book on Critical Race Theory and why it’s ‘garbage’. I can’t support him no matter how accurate some of his information may be (if any at all).

*Temperance Alden* This really pains me to say, Temperance in her Wheel of the Year book made a claim that birth control “stunted her magical abilities” because it affected her hormones…in OTHER words unless you are a perfectly hormone producing WOMAN you don’t have great magical power. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. That is a slippery slope to claiming medication will harm you, not to mention how TERF-y it is AND completely disregards that magic is for well…everyone. Such a stupid gatekeep-y concept.

*Sarah Kate Istra/Dver*

Advocates for using ‘spirit animals’ regardless of Indigenous beliefs and concerns. Is also a known ally with the Piety Posse, a neo-nazi group of pagans who claim the term polytheist can only apply to them and if you aren’t a Hellenistic pagan…you aren’t pagan at all. They also advocate for animal sacrifices, blood tests to prove purity, and other horrible HORRIBLE stuff.

*Sannion/H. Jeremiah Lewis*

Obvious Neo-nazi, keeps images of swastikas on his personal blog, and not the ones that the nazis stole from, the nazi one. And super SUPER transphobic.

*Edward P. Butler*

Major persecution complex, spends half his twitter complaining about how monotheists are destroying…I dunno…everything? Also defends Krasskova quite heavily. Antisemetic as well.

Hellenic pagans watch out. Defends the AFA. A ringleader of the Piety Posse. There’s a lot more horrific stuff about her and I won’t go into extreme details. But TW: Romanticizes SA with deities, human sacrifice, animal sacrifice. Compares debating to the holocaust, lots of victim blaming, gatekeeping, and screams folkish.

*Diana Cooper*

Racist. Hard stop. Also appropriates chakras. Has a weird belief that food controls skin color and that Africa will never be a good country because it’s the solar plexus of the universe…or something like that. I got 20 pages into the book and literally couldn’t go any farther. Did I mention this book was supposedly on dragons???

*Judika Iiles* So much appropriation, advocates for making altars and working with closed deities. Lots of incorrect information including dangerous spellwork like obsession spells. And one in particular that has roots in a racist stereotypes. Avoid please!

When I read this, it's as if a light bulb went off in my head. This is the essence of the problem. Throughout the years, Jimin has had moments where he expresses vulnerability, insecurity, and regret. And instead of admiring his humility or sincerity, they hate him for it. Because they think they can.

I think they are just looking for a chance to be a bully... because that option isn't available to them in their real life.

Sorry to bring up politics here, but these are the kind of people who admire Trump. He's a bully, yet they don't find that a bad thing. Because they'd like to be a bully, too.

As for the "he needs support." They're simply parroting what they've heard elsewhere, and really have no conception of what "support" means or how one acquires it. And you can have great "support" for your voice and still steuggle to find the correct key if you can't hear the music.

You may be correct that Jimin is best known as a dancer, but after Chapter Two and going forward, he will increasingly be known for his beautiful and unique voice and as an outstanding musical storyteller.

The thing is Jimin never acknowledges the hate. He never talks about it, he's insinuated that he knows about it and his personality change over the years proves that, but that's about it. The times when he's expressed those things you listed was never him reacting to the hate he gets online. It was about himself and how he never wants to let himself down.

If anything pjms are the ones who present him a certain. They spend all day painting him as someone who should be pitied because he gets hated on. While everyone loves to claim that their own fave gets the most hate like it's some competition and while I do agree that Jimin is at the top when it comes to idols who get a ton of hate, he still isn't the only Idol who gets hated on. Stop asking other pjms especially the blogs on here everyday about "why" he gets hate. Stop fixating on the hate he gets because you think you're his saviour. Stop saying stuff like "he's so sweet how can you hate him", stop telling us about how you're emotionally affected by the hate or how you cried because of it. Someone will say the vilest thing about him and some pjm or army will quote with something like "let's talk about how y'all are always hateful to someone like Jimin who's never hurt a soul" like just give the same energy to their fave or stfu, report and move on. Jimin doesn't come online to cry about being hated on, y'all are the ones making him vulnerable. Y'all show that the hate gets to you and you can't actually defend him and it automatically makes it seem like the hate affects Jimin and kpop Stans love it.

No one is going to see y'all's tweets about how Jimin is a good person who doesn't deserve hate and feel remorseful, it actually does the opposite because it makes them feel like they have some some kind of power.

Pjms don't even remember that jk got dragged a lot on local twtr because jjks made sure to ignore it and act like everyone loves him and he never gets any hate. But part of the reason why the hate Jimin gets is used against him is because pjms will never let you forget that he gets hated on. Hoping for sympathy and remorse from kpop stans only makes things worse. These people only respond to equal energy.

Not being jealous or mean I'm truly an ot7 army. but i noticed theres a diff in how media treats each member individually. like the amount of media coverage both kmedia and international jimin got from dior and now tiffany&co from the announcement of his new ambassadorship alone is insane 😭 and mind you, theres wasnt that hype with hobi (LV) or yoongi (valentino).I got sad when some armys legit didn't know about yoongis deal.myself knew about taes new ambassadorship after two days when I logged on twitter and it's was until I checked ot7 accs.other platforms were silent about it.so I was asking do you think it's true what some people say about media favoring jimin more?..I'm not a hater but I want to understand how this things work.because some members who I would think would make the noise are not,! jimin is making so much noise and its kinda unfair for my ot7 heart,because this whole solo era just made me think if jimin decides to leave the group his popularity will skyrocket even more cause it's like he has hidden fans not only army fandom and im selfish.

Okay... let me break it down like this

The Hyung line in general don't have as much traction as the Maknae line in BTS. It's not shade that's just the way things work in kpop- save for a few instances.

With Jimin being part of the Maknae line you should understand he is not comparable to anyone in the hyung line. He naturally will garner more attention than anyone in the Hyung line. He is Maknae too.

When it comes to the Maknae line, Jungkook being the youngest gets a lot of traction for the sheer sake of it. He's the Golden Maknae. The youngest in any group tend to get this level of traction and attention naturally- again save for few instances.

Wait. Hold up. Unfair for Jimin to get this attention?

The media does not favor JM more it's just Jimin treats the media with more grace than the others- Suga calls out the media, Tae claps back at them, Namjoon makes snarky remakes about the media to their face. Jungkook just wants punch them in the face.

The media is not their friend. Do you see the crap they report about BTS? Do you see the headlines? They are assholes. Especially kmedia with their creepy asses.

When you say they are favoring Jimin all I can think about is the hosanna before his crucifixion.

As I was saying, the hyung line has less social traction compared to the maknae line for a number of reasons beyond their control.

We really shouldn't compare the Hyung line and the maknae line. We really shouldn't. Even before their solos they weren't treated equally by fans. It's why most times we had to work extra hard to push their content and support them because if we left things to chance they would have tanked hard. I call it affirmative action and that's where the strength of OTZ lies. We balance these things out.

And let's not blame Jimin for it. Because truth is had it been Jk or Tae they would have overshadowed the hyung line too. It's rock beats scissors, maknae beats hyung line.

Among the maknaes, I feel Jungkook would have been the most followed out of BTS but his personality tends to be a bit controversial with the tattoos and dating scandals and I don't give a fuck attitude which kinda suits his personna but rubs people off the wrong way. even that he's still the Golden Maknae. Can't take that away from him.

Tae has the oppressed under dog vibe going for him. From day one, he was hidden by the company, he was marginalized as the alien of the group, laughed at by friends, raised on a farm, and his grandma died. Then it turns out not only is he hot and talented, he's goofy, has a heart of gold and has that bit of fire in him you just don't want to mess with him he will cut you

Yet however they both are missing something that comes naturally for Jimin- mystery and obsession.

I don't know how Jimin is doing it but he is doing it.

He has a shit ton of sex appeal, has a voice so unique it piques your curiosity, looks like nothing you've ever seen, mad mad classy, mature, disciplined, accessible, consumable- he has that level of success that looks attainable if only you follow his blue print.

Having the success of the Golden Maknae is unattainable to most people. Not everyone has youth on their side, not everyone has a perfect pitch to stand out of the lot, not everyone has the natural talent Jungkook has which comes without him even trying.

It's the same with Tae. To get the success he has you would have to be him specifically.

With Jimin it's different. His success does not rest on his looks or voice alone. In fact, I'd argue his success doesn't come from any of that at all and I think it's intentional on his part. He doesn't rely on luck- that doesn't mean he doesn't have it, he do. He just don't make that his whole personality.

And that's what Tae was talking about in I-land. There are very tangible aspects to his success. It's what makes him the rookie Bible. He demystifies success and makes it replicable. It's easy to look at him and feel inspired and assured if you work just as hard as Jimin then you should get the same results- except you can't work just as hard cos what he does is humanly impossible💀

Jungkook named him Tripple A effort guy and he's right.

I feel this is why a company like hybe would love him. He doesn't let his looks do the talking for him. He doesn't rely on his looks or say I have a unique voice and that's it. He leaves nothing to chance.

He is very interesting. And that interest often leads people into obsessing over him. Once you Jim in you can't Jim out.

Tae's haters and detractors don't care enough about him to follow him around and keep tabs on him.

They look at him and just don't understand why he's successful the way he is and I feel that's how the obsession with him begins 😆

They will listen to his music all the way through just so they can come on the internet and say it's shitty- 🤣

Jimin is admirable. Brands admire him, regular folks admire him. People want him to succeed for the same reasons they may want someone like TAE to succeed. They are both a rags to riches story. Except they both have fans who engage in very different fan behaviors.

Which is what it all comes down to. Jimin's fans behave differently from any members' fans. Perhaps people should pay attention to that before acting jealous of him.

It's just as how BTS fans behave and engage in very different fan behaviors to other idols' fans. And don't hurt your head, there a countless experts who have tried to research Army to understand what it is about BTS keeps us tethered to them but haven't a clue.

Also let's not confuse followers for fans. Just because one member has a lot of followers does not mean they have the most fans out of BTS💀

People can fake accounts and follow anyone but not everyone of those accounts may be a true fan.

Jimin knows how to work the public. He knows what we want. He can enchant us and play us like a violin if he so chooses. He's behind a lot of the successes of BTS especially with regards to their public image.

He's a master curator, he's the voice telling them don't get drunk and vlive, move this way on the stage, hold it a big longer, post this, don't post that, why? Because he knows how to work the public. I'd say Tae too to be honest.

I don't think JM has fully stepped into his power. You are right to say his fame will skyrocket if he breaks away. He has the skills and experience, knowledge, creativity and discipline to make him forever relevant.

If anyone is going to become a household name I trust it's jimin because he gets it. He gets that talent alone won't get you anywhere, looks alone won't suffice you gotta be the whole package and HE IS THE WHOLE PACKAGE.

I disagree a little with the assessment that ARMYs would automatically become JK's fanbase if the group is no more. His retail album sales figures aren't all that ahead of Jimin. His entire album is in English, he had crazy promo, from July we got almost non stop stuff till December, he had huge names he collab'd with and yeah with all that he did the best among the members. But comparing effort with outcome, his results don't look that great to me. If army were as enamoured with his music as they were with BTS' old albums like BE or MOTS:7 or LY, I think he would've done way better. He's still got two songs on TTH if you think about it and his streams are good don't get me wrong but his songs are still on the largest playlist on Spotify you know? It tips the scales.

The reason a lot of pjms feel like JK is favoured is because, the fact of it is, that a lot of armys don't like Jimin in particular so when we compare the way they act for Jimin versus the way the act for JK, we can clearly see a difference. But if Tae or Yoongi, who are in my opinion the two other army favourites, had gotten the same push as JK, they would've gotten the same level of support.

Anyway, in pure numbers it won't make a difference whether his results are due to Hybe or due to army. My only point is that if Hybe keeps investing so much in JK, I'm sure he'll continue to do well but he's never gonna reach BTS' level. They continue to pump money to keep him on all the big playlists to maintain this illusion that he's got ARMYs full support but in my opinion, that's all it is. An illusion.

Also this ask is getting too long but I also just want to bring up Tae. The most followers on IG, most fancam views and prior to solo era he was considered by some, including many armys, as the secret weapon since he was considered the most popular. But that didn't get him anywhere with layover (compared to Jimin and JK) and that's because his standing as the most popular member was partly illusion. If you looked under the hood it was the paid followers and views (not by him) or vpn voting and sales or multiple accounts and all that only works up to a limit. I'm just saying JK's strength is also partly illusion, constructed by the label (rather than fans which it was for Tae)

TGK are definitely the middle ground for armys, I agree. But out of the 3 of them, jk was always gonna have the best chance of suceeding. Armys don’t care for golden but they really don’t like layover. They take to yoongi better than joon or hobi, but the majority of the fandom still doesn’t like to stream rap music. Jk having palatable pop music was always gonna work in his favor over the other two. That’s why bang and scooter picked him because he’s the most agreeable member across the board.

And yes jk’s success thus far is mostly an illusion. One that they had to forge because the needed to devalue jimin. But like you said, it really isn’t all that impressive when you consider the effort they put into him. You look at the 16 versions worth of albums billboard reported that they put out to boost his sales yet he was only able to sell around 46k more than jimin who had 5 (a mini album at that). Like it’s very obvious what that reads as. 🥴

That “secret weapon” tagline armys had for th was embarrassing and came back to bite them in the ass. But they’ve always put so much stock in the superficial regarding that man and little else. You’ll see his stans fight this one sided battle with pjms because they’re still deeply bothered that jm pulled off the debut they expected th to do. They’ll cling to his popularity for dear life since that’s their safeguard and you can’t help but laugh because their only solace is that he’s more liked than jimin is. But does that mean much when it’s purely due to looks and out of obligation to do so because he’s one half of a ship? Not really.

Han So-Hee in her own words.

I started writing this when I heard that Han So-Hee was rumoured to appear in Jungkook's upcoming MV for Seven. I love to explore the intersections between the world of kdrama/kfilm (which I have followed for some considerable time) with the world of music and BTS (which is a much newer love).

I haven't seen her in many roles but what I have seen convinces me she is someone who is working on her craft and constantly looking for ways to improve and deliver more for her audience.

After seeing her first in a supporting role in Abyss (2019), I've seen her with Song Kang in Nevertheless (2021) where she plays a sculpture student in a much more Bohemian world than we generally see in kdramas and then in My Name (2021) where she played a revenge seeking bad ass. She had to do a lot of physical training for the part and said that it was a habit that stayed with her.

"If I get hooked on something, I’m the type to do it no matter what anyone around me says. That’s one of the things I like about myself."

She isn't your average Korean actress. When she published photos of herself with tattoos she received a lot of public criticism in Korea but she has a clear philosophy to life which she is determined to stick to.

"I want to live youthfully while wearing, eating, and expressing what I like. As long as I don’t stray away from what’s ethical and moral, I want to live while expressing myself freely. Instead of being passive, I hope others also find their own spark and color to shine."

She loves and respects other women.

"There are so many cool unnis. I think people who live their life doing what they want are cool. ..........., since you only live one life, I want people to live while doing what they want. These days, I think people like that are the coolest."

She is serious about the people in her life and she is ready to express her love and support publicly. She is close to Song Hye Kyo and they often post for each other on Instagram. When Song Hye Kyo won the Baeksang Arts Best Actress Award for The Glory this year she was quick to post her congratulations on Instagram.

The two were set to star in the The Price of Confession together, that project seems to have been shelved but their relationship is still going strong. Song Hye Kyo recently sent a coffee truck to the set of Han So Hee's latest project Gyeongseong Creature.

Isn't it nice to see women supporting each other perhaps certain parts of the fandom could take a lesson from that.

I've seen people online compare Han So-Hee to Jungkook and having read her words, I don't think they are wrong. Both are unconventional individuals living in a strictly conformist society. Both are proud of what they call their stubbornness which I actually think is more about their being determined to live an authentic life on their own terms. Both seek to express publicly the love and support they have for the important people in their life. As such I think she is a good choice as a co-star for this music video.

It won't be her first time appearing in a Kpop MV. She appeared in SHINee's video for 'Tell me what to do' in 2016......

Jungkook deleting his IG is such a powerful move because in this time of high social media interactions, he doesn’t give a rats ass about the most superficial of platforms. And he has every right to choose to step away from it.

But you will always have conspiracy theorists and detractors who would want to read more into the actions of the members despite them clarifying. Jungkook’s IG account deletion is being labelled as either his rebellion against the company for restricting him or a deletion by the company it’s self for not abiding by policies or going on unsupervised and unauthorised lives. Despite him being a grown man with agency.

What’s your take on this?

Obviously many will think all that. This fandom likes their theories no matter how absurd or stupid they are.

This fandom has many problems, but 4 of the main ones are the hero complex, the need to pigeonhole the members as victims, the demonisation of HYBE/BIGHIT and ignoring what the members say. We could talk about these four problems separately, but we can really boil them down to one complex - the fandom thinks it knows best. The fandom thinks it knows what bts members need, what's going on with them, what they want and what bothers them. they know all that better than the members themselves. The fandom, or many in it, have taken this weird parasocial relationship with bts to extremes and like everything that is taken to extremes, it is no good.

This hero complex is with all members, whether individually or as a group, but I have noticed since coming into the fandom, that it is particularly strong with the Maknae Line.

For many, the Maknae Line is being oppressed and exploited by the big bad HYBE/BIGHIT. The whole group, really, they are being taken advantage of! And that's why the maknae Line likes to "rebel" against them. I've always read how the agency and the company don't treat them well, make them do this or that and I'm just dumbfounded by so much… stupidity.

When you become a fan of a K-pop group I think it's almost impossible not to learn a little bit about the industry itself - although sometimes, a lot of times you learn that information from the wrong media. I think many of us know about the inhumane treatment many agencies have with their idols, the stupid behavioural clauses, forcing them to do things they don't want to do etc., that's unfortunately still relatively common in that industry, but I think it's also obvious that HYBE/BIGHIT isn't like that or at least not to the extremes that other companies go to and definitely not with BTS. Or not anymore.

BTS is HYBE/BIGHIT's golden goose. They started it all, they gave the company the opportunity to grow the way it has. Many argue about whether bts paved the way for the K-pop industry or not, but they did pave the way, at least financially, for the groups under HYBE. The report a few weeks ago that HYBE presented showed that bts still brings in the most economic income to the company, more than all other artists combined, despite having stopped activities as a group since June 2022, basically. And you still think that the company would deliberately do something to harm them?

I'm not a corporate apologist by any stretch of the imagination, but to pretend that bts members don't benefit from HYBE/BIGHIT as well, is stupid. Many seem to forget when it suits them that bts also own shares in that company.

But the worst part of this narrative is that these people don't realise how insulting it is to the artists they swear to love and claim to want to protect. To believe that the company is exploiting them, forcing them to do something they don't want to do and deliberately harming them in some way is also to believe that the members are useless, pusillanimous people who don't know how to stand up for themselves. It is believed that bts does not apply what they preach so much in their songs, in their campaigns, or in their concerts. It is to believe that the members of bts do not apply what many in this fandom brag about them preaching. They stand for. And that obviously doesn't make sense.

In this particular case, Jungkook is without a doubt one of the most important artists in the company. He generates a lot of income as part of the group and individually. The interest in him is out of this world. In business terms, Jungkook is a precious asset to the company and yet you think the company could force him to do or not do something?

In one of his last Wlives, Jungkook talked about how the company doesn't allow them to do Wlives without notice and I don't know what else but he still did it. In the Wlive where Tae joined for a few moments, they talked about how "the company would scold them" but they still didn't care, Tae even said that he would take responsibility. And in the next Wlive that Jungkook did, someone asked him if he was scolded and Jungkook basically said 'do they really think they could forbid me to do something?' which brings us to the problem of this fandom forgetting what the members say when it doesn't fit their narrative.

If what these people say were true, it would make more sense for HYBE/BIGHIT to ban Jungkook from doing Wlives unsupervised, in the middle of the night than to order him to delete an account on a social media platform he hadn't used for a long time. But no, this fandom HATES to believe in the most logical explanations regarding anything bts related because then they wouldn't be able to "activate" their hero complex.

Jungkook is different. He walks to the beat of his own drum and is also somewhat impulsive. I don't doubt for a minute that he deleted/deactivated his Instagram account because he didn't see any benefit or use for it and because I felt that the novelty of the app had worn off for him for a while now. When Jungkook deleted all his posts and edited his feed in a more "professional" manner I remember thinking that he was getting bored of the app and like most of what Jungkook gets bored of, he would put it aside. And so it happened. Although it took him a while to do it.

I also think that the sasaengs' obsession with stalking him and so on also made him fed up, maybe it was something he saw in his account and he got tired of it. Getting away from toxicity is always necessary.

Happy Valentine's Day, loves! I still have absolutely no inspiration to write (lmao) but seeing as it's the day of love (my pfp is finally in season), I felt like we needed something on here. So, I'm writing this on the fly, in the Walmart parking lot while I use their wifi to sync my OneDrive (as I said before, no wifi at home ew). JK's crazy schedule in Q3/Q4 last year was very interesting to me. He was constantly traveling and would just be in SK for a few days then fly back to the US for few days again. It didn't make any sense to me coz he was tiring himself out and even caught colds multiple times.

I thought it would be more cost-efficient and logical plus healthier option for him to just stay in LA for the whole duration and perhaps bring his family with him if he wanted to spend time with them coz I assume they would have more flexible schedule. Also, they can travel and explore US together on his days off. This was under the assumption that he chose to fly home each time to SK to spend time with his family coz he is enlisting soon.

Now I will enter my delulu theory: he was coming home to SK to someone who can't travel to where he is, and was spending any time they could together before MS. As a TKKR, I will be pointing out that the period where JK was constantly flying back and forth, was Tae's promo period. Tae can't be where he was for many obvious reasons, but he was also busy. When Tae flew to Japan, he was able to come home just few days before JK has to fly again.

Tae went live, played longing songs and shared that JK sings To Find You for/to him. The next day, a man was beside him on his bed on his 3AM live. The same day that JK came home from a long trip to US and Japan. Assuming that was JK bcoz of the series of events leading to this plus the breathing sounding so much like him, JK went straight to Taehyung after his trip. In another JK trip to US, Tae was seen sporting a pair of NY exclusive Moncler shoes the day after JK came back to SK from NY.

With my theory that JK was coming home to Tae, I thought how they probably just wanted to spend whatever private time they can with eo. It didn't have to be a trip or something grand but even just the thought of getting to share the same bed after coming home from work was more than enough.

If JK chose to endure jet lags and crazy schedule to be able to spend time with Taehyung, these are sacrifices we aren't privy of coz it isn't shown nor shared to us.

I know I am reaching with this theory, tho I am also piecing moments that happened within that busy period and I don't think I am far off. 😂

Oh wow! You know there's been plenty of talk about how Taekook always seemed to find time to spend with each other between travel schedules, even if they weren't in SK for long. But I've never seen it framed like this before. I think you could be onto something. I do wonder if after enlistment he won't be spending a lot more time in LA if he's going to keep his career going in this direction. It will be interesting to see how that plays out. We know he's building a home in Seoul, but I wonder if he'll sort of live part-time in LA. I don't think your theory is delulu at all, it's perfectly reasonable and would make some sense of JK's sometimes baffling and exhausting schedule last year. It would fit the pattern we have plenty of receipts for. We know of times they were together immediately before leaving. Bowling with Wooshik's brother for example, I still think the morning JK went live at like 8am and said he'd just stayed up all night and Tae was at the airport a few hours later telling a reporter he had done the same was a hell of a coincidence. We know they often met up when they got back to SK. Paradise Hotel, Tae having plans for JK to cook for him when he was only back in SK for a couple of days for SimInvest, in Tae's apartment the day he got back from Japan in October. Their living situation was a good set-up for this with their apartments being so close to each other. Meeting up whenever they found time would not be difficult. I'll throw my own wild theory out that I haven't shared until now because it's related to this. I was a very amused by the incident in August when I saw the ghost hunters talking about another noise in the background of Tae's live and I popped in my earbuds so ready to roll my eyes again only to hear what was undeniably a man coughing in Tae's apartment after midnight. We knew Jungkook was sick at the time. They really got me that day. It humbled me a little.💀 So I'm letting myself speculate here. I think it's generally agreed upon by Taekookers that when they met up at the Paradise Hotel Jungkook went straight there from the airport because it's right there. When the video of Jungkook at the airport on September 5th last year got posted there was the usual "who was in the car????" discussion. Another thing I normally dismiss, but I thought it was funny that his managers rushed so quickly to close the car door. It wasn't until I realized that Tae was definitely at the Paradise Hotel the night before that I started to sweat a little. 😅 Like, what if though??? We know Tae had been busy filming during Jungkook's birthday...what if???? they found some time???? before Jungkook left???? Tae was at the Paradise Hotel for the Frieze Seoul Art Night event there. He streamed the beautiful sunset for just over a minute on Weverse which a lot of people were saying was him on his way home and I accepted it just assuming they knew something I didn't. But the event happened that night so I think he was on his way there. He also posted the sunset on his IG story. I'll just leave the last dot here.

It's so nice to see you back here. What are your thoughts on views whether YouTube, Twitter likes or even Spotify numbers? I am a big fan of BTS with Jimin and JK as a bias but still a big fan of the band. I tend to check Twitter a lot and came across a lot of posts of JJKs saying Jimin is so unpopular because his views are super low blah blah blah. Not that I care as much about these topics but it kind of made me think. Right now on Twitter, JJKs are dragging JM because of his performance last night which by the way was amazing. But most of their drags are around views lol because they couldn't criticise his singing or performance skills. Well some of them tried going down that route but it didn't really work since he did amazingly well. But now they are dragging him for views because apparently he can't get people to like or watch his stuff. To be honest, I used to be Taekooker with both of them being my bias when I first started my journey with BTS. I used to be in the fan circle and they always used to encourage us to report JMs videos/playlists, told us not to watch any of his content or engage in any of his content. I remember being encouraged to donate money to buy things for the boys (not music related) but it was defs there. I also remember getting annoyed at JM because he always got attention. He somehow always created noise and the annoyance and irritation was encouraged by these fans. But as I got to know BTS members, I stopped shipping which completely changed my outlook. Even when I was a Taekooker, I had always noticed Jimin getting the views and making noise so I don't believe he is unpopular. I notice his popularity even within the music community that might not know K-pop. But these views chat made me think maybe I have just thought he was popular because antis also tend to talk about him a lot. Like it is bizarre that his views seem to be some of the lowest in the group including his Spotify stuff. What are your thoughts on this?

I think you're asking the wrong person here. This is not something that had any importance to me and I also don't follow or take into consideration such metrics. I know a lot of fans do and some of them might engage in various activities to reduce or multiply those numbers, I don't know the ins and outs.

If Jimin's popularity matter that much and ends up being put into question, then I find that a bit ridiculous. Isn't he the one known for bringing in the fans? I can give myself as an example. Perhaps that's an old argument, but I can also look at the marketing team of this really famous movie that reached out to a big fandom by having Ryan Gosling gifting Jimin a guitar. This is closer to reflecting a reality than some shippers/solo stans are talking about on twitter. I think Jimin's good.

ok hi i'm back with my report on T's current astro transits 🫡

firstly, some good news: monday's solar eclipse was trine T's jupiter, which is a very fortunate transit. over the next 6 months, his career will continue to flourish. he may sign onto a huge project or projects that he's completed will be met with critical praise. overall, it'll be a very positive time for his public image! jupiter is also the planet of luck so i think any unfavorable news about him that may arise during this time will either be ignored by the public or somehow spun in his favor.

and now for the stuff everyone wants to know: mars is square his jupiter right now so he might not have physically cheated because his moral compass stopped him from crossing that line. mars is a very impulsive planet especially in regards to sex but the square signifies an inner conflict while jupiter guides our morals. even if he didn't do it, i think he may feel very guilty for even considering it. he could see it as a betrayal not just to bb but to himself and his morality as well. this aspect is separating, so whatever he did already passed and isn't something that's currently happening anymore. jupiter is also square his mercury, so again he just seems very morally conflicted. even if bb can forgive him, he might be struggling to forgive himself.

with that being said, venus is squaring his venus so i feel that he still cares for bb and still feels they have a connection but there's an imbalance between them that he's painfully aware of. neptune is also square his venus so he could be seeing their relationship from rose colored lenses. neptune rules nostalgia so he may be very nostalgic about how their relationship used to be. there's stuff in his transits that indicate him struggling with his newfound fame and all of the attention that comes with it. he could see her as part of his "old life" and not wanting to give up on their relationship because of that. ngl i wish i could see what's going on on bb's end but idk her birthday so 😭

defending jm by making vile hashtags in return to one of his friends (idc what your opinion of th is, as far as we know they're still friends), how does that work? bc now y'all look just as stupid and hateful as the kths and tkks that started the hashtags towards jm.

Ah your ask is a little on the confusing side for me. Or maybe it's my anger that doesn't let me read. Maybe. But I feel like you contradict yourself and answer yourself in a lot of parts.

People will come at me like usual but that's how things are, I guess. My thoughts may change later but right now this is what my brain feels:

You acknowledge that what pjms initially said is nothing compared to what the kths and jjks said yesterday (and always). Ok.

Do you really think pjms care about looking stupid if it means defending Jimin when army always brushes it aside? But I didn't know defending Jimin was called looking stupid. For real.

You think pjms are setting up Jimin for hate? Really? The problem is not the other haters, maybe? You do state that other deranged people take any chance to hate on Jimin. Ok. Like tkkrs today with the interactions that we saw between Jimin and Jungkook.

If Jimin exists these people consider him a threat. And they should. Jimin is the best. So the blame is not pjms. Its the insecurities of the other solos and anger from other fandoms. And the fact that twitter is a dumpster.

It would be hypocritical of me to say that pjms should not have done that and they should have just reported. I'm kinda done being the bigger person when it comes to the hate Jimin gets and the way army and fans have normalized this. So pjms did what they had to do. It wasn't nice but it's what was done.

I support Jimin like crazy and state that in my blog all the time and people come and send angry rants like children asking why I only love him and not their favorite.

And you know what? I don't care about their opinion or harassing asks or their wannabe guilt trips they try to send me on. I don't care about army, other Jikookers, solos, whoever. I only care what I want and I care about Jimin. And what I want is to love and support Jimin. And I will say that over and over. If someone has a problem with my opinion, they can block me. And of course people have a problem with others loving Jimin or defending Jimin. Because it's Jimin.

If you want to scream to the world that you love and support Jimin, do it. Why would you be scared of people who hide behind the screen? If someone says something, block them and continue professing your love for Jimin.

That works for me and I don't find it hard at all.
