“Ok. Thanks, Betty.” You muttered as you hung up. Veronica stood up and waited as you turned and put the phone back on the wall. Pop stopped what he was doing and leaned on the counter, ignoring a customer for a moment.
“Well!” Veronica demanded.
“They found her. Betty said they’re taking her to the hospital and that she couldn’t say anything else for sure.” You explained quietly.
“Here. You two take this and get there right away. Tell people I’ll stay open late and ask if any food needs to be sent to the search party.” Pop said as he went to the till and counted out enough notes to pay for a cab. He called for one and spoke to the driver as if they were friends. The cab driver dropped you outside the hospital entrance, waiting until you were both inside. The building was in chaos. Injured people everywhere. Missing people being rushed to rooms or doctors being summoned. Veronica left you to speak to Betty as you continued through the crowd without stopping and searched for her.
“(Y/N)!” Archie called. You turned and saw him down a busy corridor. Rushing down to him you saw her in a bed. Her family surrounded her at the bedside as they fussed over her.
“How is she?” You asked.
“She woke up a few minutes ago. She seems stable so they’re having her wait for any scans so more urgent cases can go first.” Archie didn’t speak unkindly but it was clear that he was upset that she wasn’t being seen too.
“Hey.” You said quietly as you approached. Considering she and several other people had been kidnapped by Riverdale’s latest psycho, she looked better than you had feared. She gave you a weak smile and reached for your hand as everyone moved around her bedside to give you space.
"I bet you lost some sleep thinking about me." She said quietly and laughed weakly as you sighed and let out a laugh in disbelief.
“That’s what you’re worried about!” You scolded and she smiled. You sat down and smiled at her grasping her hand tightly as you prepared to take up vigil beside her hospital bed.

I got my driver's license last week Just like we always talked about 'Cause you were so excited for me To finally drive up to your house
you were beyond ecstatic. finally, you had your own freedom- a drivers license! you called your best friend, toni, to tell her the good news. she told you to go to pops chock’lit shoppe to celebrate, the place with the best milkshakes in all of america- or so you liked to believe.
you got to your destination and walked inside ready for a fun, but relaxing evening with your best friend. one that you had needed for a while. however when you walked inside there was a loud bang and people shouting ‘surprise’. shocked, you started laughing and ran to toni. of course, you were happy to see your serpent family celebrating a huge milestone in your life, but you were looking for the person who you had been missing the most. someone who was so excited for you to get your license so you could drive to his house instead of walk at night- sweet pea. sadly, you knew he wouldn’t be there. you had broken up two weeks ago and he would be with the, well what you serpents called the north side queen, josie mccoy.
after the party, that lasted way too long for your liking, you drove along the south side of riverdale. you claimed that you just wanted to get of feel of the car you had already been driving even before you were legally allowed to, but in reality, you wanted to see if he was home and if he was, was she with him. the answer to both of those questions happened to be yes, making your heart break on a day that it was supposed to make it rejoice.
But today I drove through the suburbs Crying 'cause you weren't around
a week had passed since you got your license and truly you were so thankful for being able to drive. you could clear your head, go to parties, have car sleepovers, which happened more often than many believed, and now that school had started- drive to school. since it was the start of a new school year meant you could meet new people and get your mind off of sweet pea, which was impossible to do. since your circle ran so closely.
every time the serpents were together, josie was always there with him. even in the most important and secretive meetings, she was there and no one seemed to care. things were worse at school, though. sweet pea no longer sat with you and your friends and almost every time you turned a corner, there they were all over each other. he was never this touchy with you and that hurt the worst. what did she have? ‘everything.’ you thought.
you, along with toni, fangs, cheryl, betty, archie, jughead, and veronica, sat in the commons area, talking and laughing. you wanted to laugh and have fun, but you just stared out the window at the two unlikely lovers.
“earth to y/n,” fangs, one of your best friends snapped his fingers in front of your face.
you shook your head, “sorry.”
“what’re you thinking about?” he furrowed his eyebrows.
“how are you guys so okay with this,” you pointed to sweet pea and josie, “i mean he doesn’t even talk to you guys when i’m around. how are you not hurting?” everyone turned to you, but fangs and toni looked at the ground.
“of course it hurts, but we weren’t involved with SP like you were, we didn’t have that connection with him, babe. however, that doesn’t mean i wouldn’t love to see them break up.” toni sighed. tears brimmed your eyes as you saw them laugh, like throwing their heads back type of laugh.
you picked up your stuff abruptly, accidentally hitting the window hard, “i just remembered that i have to go.”
everyone looked at you with confusion, except for sweet pea who looked a little bit guilty, but that expression didn’t last long.
getting into your car, you started to scream and cry. you let everything out. finally, you decided to go to yours and sweet pea’s favorite- scratch that, used to be favorite- spot. neither of you had been there since the breakup. it was on the north side of riverdale, in the woods. you two went there because to you, it felt like you guys didn’t belong to the wrong side of the tracks.
there was a little fort you guys built that had blankets, pillows, and a cooler. everything was in the same place, more run down and messy, but almost nothing had changed. it reflected you perfectly- broken with signs of him left around. the blankets and pillows reeked but you didn’t care. you snuggled into them, laying in the woods of the riverdale suburbs and cried. you cried until you feel asleep, your mind drifting into another memory.
And you're probably with that one girl Who always made me doubt She's so much better than me She's everything I'm insecure about
a meeting had been called at the whyte wyrm. you were dreading it but only because you were dreading seeing sweet pea and josie, but they never showed up. you hated that, which was weird. you thought that if they weren’t around you’d feel better, but you didn’t because at least when they were there you could see what was happening. you knew what they were doing, where they were and whatnot, but they were gone, you didn’t know anything now. which scared you more than seeing them together.
honestly, you weren’t surprised about him breaking up with you and going to her, you knew it was only a matter of time. she had clear skin, lived on the north side, could drive months before you could, she was taller, her hair was much prettier and fuller than yours, hell she could sing, and her body. her body was crafted by aphrodite herself. everything about her was desirable. and although you were trying to convince yourself that you were surprised, you weren't.
Yeah, today I drove through the south side 'Cause how could I ever love someone else?
today was the day of a bonfire. you had no idea why the serpents were throwing one, but they really didn’t need a reason. 4 weeks, 4 days, 19 hours, 10 minutes, and 50 seconds, that was how long you two had been broken up. you should’ve been over him by now.
“hey topaz, fogarty, y’all wanna get plastered?” you raised a cocky smile. this was the first thing you had said since you got there. the two looked at you, knowing this would be a bad idea, but you needed it.
“you’re so on, y/l/n!” Fangs jumped up and ran to get beers.
toni scooted closer to you and grabbed your hand, “hey, love, are you sure this is a good idea?”
“toni, it’s been almost 5 weeks, i should be over him!”
‘y/n, girl, you guys dated for more than two years, you shouldn’t be over him, not even close.” you shrugged her hand off.
“please, t, let me do this, i need this. plus it won’t take me long to get drunk, i am a lightweight!” you both laughed as fangs came back, arms full of beer.
“you ready, serpent goddess?” he eyed you.
toni looked at him with a lost look, “did you just call her ‘serpent goddess’?”
“uh yeah. what do your ears not work? she is the daughter of two of the most respected serpents and her family has been in the serpents the longest- she has a pure serpent bloodline.”
you smiled, “okaaay, fangs, i like that. prepare to lose to the serpent goddess.” you all laughed. unbeknownst to you, a dark-haired boy was looking at his old friends missing them, but mainly looking at you, wishing you could be friends again.
a few hours later and 5 beers down, you were drunk off your ass. so badly that you were flirting with almost everyone you saw. it was all fun and games until someone grabbed your butt.
“woah,” you shook your head looking around to see who did that.
“sorry, princess, ya jus look too good to not talk ta,” a random serpent smiled with ugly crooked teeth.
“um, don‘t, please.” you whispered to the ground.
“wha was that, ya’re gon have ta speak up,” he lifted your face.
“lea-”
“hey! you heard her, she said leave.” you were cut off by him. something you never expected. your eyes grew wide.
“wha’d ya say boy?”
“i said leave her alone, it’s not that hard.” by now everyone had stopped talking to look at what was unraveling before their eyes. FP started making his way to the center.
“what is going on?” the big man yelled.
“nothin’." the crooked smiled man snarled.
“that’s what i thought, y’all go back to doing what you were.” FP yelled to the crowd, making them disperse leaving the two of you alone in the middle.
“are you okay, y/n/n?” sweet pea went to grab your arm.
“i’m fine.” you dead panned, jerking your am away. he lifted his arms in surrender and walked away. you turned around wondering why he came to your rescue, of course you were thankful for that, but he hadn’t made a move to talk to you since the breakup.
And I know we weren't perfect but I've never felt this way for no one And I just can't imagine how you could be so okay now that I'm gone Guess you didn't mean what you wrote in that song about me 'Cause you said forever now I drive alone past your street
“shut up, sweet pea! you annoy the hell out of me!” you screamed at him.
“i annoy you? really? dude, imagine what it’s like to be with you! you are so whining all the time! that’s all you ever do! bro i am so tired of it.” he slammed his fist into the table. you flinched back, “did you just flinch? is that what you think of me, y/n? that i would hit you?”
“what- no- baby-”
“ya’know maybe we do need to break up. i think that’d be for the best.”
“what? no sweets, please-”
“leave. you can get your stuff tomorrow.” he faced the opposite direction. you were both crying, and despite your whole body screaming at you to run to him and stay, you turned around and left. something neither of you expected. something else that surprised you both was the fact that he didn’t run after you.
it had been a bad day, a really bad day. on top of the breakup, your parents were going through a rough patch. your dad would go on these drinking sprees. they never lasted more than 2 weeks, but what he did during those two weeks, only he knew, and he claimed he was too drunk to remember anything so you never knew what he did.
sweet pea normally helped you when your dad went wild. no one else knew, you didn’t want people to feel bad for you or think badly of your parents. you were, like fangs put it, the serpent goddess. you were one of the only people who had married parents that seemed to love each other, you lived in a house- not anything like the north side but a house nonetheless, your grades were exceptional and you were sitting in the top 5 of your class. everything on the outside made it seem like you were the ‘perfect’ south side girl. so there was no way anyone else could know.
you had just gotten home from school to find your dad gone and your mom bawling on the couch, which sucked. there was no way you could deal with that mess at the moment. this made the already terrible day, worse. but at least home had your bed and no one could pick on you like everyone at school had decided to do today. especially cheryl. although you were toni’s best friend, that never stopped the red head from treating you like scum.
finally you were in your room, able to sleep but you noticed crumbled up paper on your floor. your room was a mess, but this seemed out of place, mainly because you hadn’t seen it there before. confused, you started to unravel it when you saw the words, ‘my girl’. of course sweet pea copied it from the actual song, but he did because he knew how much you loved both the movie and song.
you had made up your mind, seeing him was your best option. you needed to know why he didn’t run after you when you broke up and why he saved you at the bonfire. getting in the car you kept on talking yourself up and saying that he wanted to talk too. so you drove to his house. thankfully, josie wasn’t there. you walked up to the door, then chickened out. no you couldn’t do that, it was too hard. however, it was like the universe wanted to laugh in your face, sweet pea opened the door.
“y/n/n?” he asked.
“sweet pea, hey.”
“what’re you doing here?”
you looked around, wondering what to do with your hands because they suddenly felt awkward and sweaty, “i shouldn’t have come, you’re probably on your way to see josie and i don’t want to keep you.” you turned around.
“hey, y/n, wait.”
“yes?” hope.
“please don’t, come here i mean. it’s rough for the both of us. and i know this has been really hard for you, so spare us both the pain.” and it was gone.
“are you serious right now? you’re hurting? sure.”
sweet pea rolled his eyes, “i know it doesn’t look like it, but i am.”
“are you sure,” you scoffed, “ because you seem to be real happy.”
“hey-”
“also why the hell did you get so protective of me at the bonfire?”
“because you were making a fool of yourself!”
tears rolled down your face and in the quietest voice, you said, “how are you so okay? because i’m not.”
“y/n/n-”
“don’t sweet pea! don’t call me that! i’m so sorry. i-i’m gonna go now.”
And all my friends are tired Of hearing how much I miss you but I kinda feel sorry for them 'Cause they'll never know you the way that I do
“y/n, get up,” toni yelled through the window in your room. it was sunday, days after you tried to confront sweet pea. you didn’t leave your room bed when someone called, you wouldn’t let someone in your room. it had pissed your mom off. when your dad was going through his phase, you were her rock, but now both you and your father were down in rabbit holes and she didn’t know how to fix it.
“no,” you croaked, too quiet, but toni still responded.
“you have to get up one day,” the pink-haired girl groaned.
“come on girl, lets go get milkshakes,” fangs yelled, too loud.
toni audibly hit his arm, “shut up dufus, she can hear you just fine.”
you just sighed, you hadn’t been talking or moving for days so your body and throat ached, but you could ignore the pain- it was a super power that everyone in riverdale possessed. finally you had noticed silence and prayed that it would stay that way, you weren’t ready to see people, but there your friends were kneeling before your bed with faces of pity. you didn’t even hear them come in, too engrosed in your thoughts.
you shook your head, avoiding eye contact with them, looking through them like they were glass. then the tears came again. you were surprised that you still had the water left in your body to cry. you literally hadn’t moved from the position you were in since you got in it. the bed fit around you perfectly, like it was engulfing you, whispering, “stay, i won’t hurt you. stay.” so you stayed.
crying and mourning the broken relationship 24/7 made you feel like your friends would get tired of you. you believed that soon enough they would leave you and honestly, you were thankful. the faster they left, the more you could hurt and get over it. right now was the perfect time to leave. yet, there was still a tiny part that had hoped they’d be with you every moment. luckily it was the latter.
taking a deep breath in, you whispered, “please don’t leave me.” your mouth betrayed your mind, but you didn’t care, you needed them with you.
Yeah, today I drove through the suburbs And pictured I was driving home to you
“hi baby! i’m home!” you shouted to your soon-to-be husband.
sweet pea came running around the corner to pick you up, “i have missed you so much, did you know that?”
smiling, you responded,  “baby you are the definition of ‘golden retriever boyfriend’. i loved you.”
“i love you, too, pretty girl,” his expression turned serious, “seriously, everyday i see you a-and your beauty just amazes me. i truly am so lucky. some would even say, the luckiest man in the world.”
“you are too good to me, mr. sweet pea.”
he licked your face, becoming playful again, “i know, mrs. sweet pea.”
“eww,” you tried to wiggle from his grip, “this is what i mean by golden retriever boyfriend, you’re a dog!”
“oh baby girl, i can show you dog,” he winked. you made a disgusted face.
“absolutely not.” you both laughed.
“i can’t wait until you come home to me everyday,” he whispered, dragging you to the couch.
confused, you said, “i already do.”
“no, no, i mean like- when we’re married and we can leave this place and move to a beautiful city. a real home.”
“sweet pea, i don’t care where we go. you are my home.”
Red lights Stop signs I still see your face In the white cars Front yards
Can't drive past the places We used to Go to 'Cause I still fucking love you, babe
it felt like you’d hit every single red light on the way home from school. which of course it wasn’t that many, but sitting in your car felt like forever. you looked out the window to see a white bmw. this reminded you of sweet pea, who told you how it was his favorite car and that he wanted to buy one someday. then you saw his face, in the driver's side of the car. the license plate read, ‘SerPent’. clever. of course, next to him was the girl you wanted so badly to hate, and kind of did- josie mccoy.
he parked and ran over to her door, opening it and bowing, like a knight. something he never cared to do for you. she had a cute little picnic basket hanging on one of her arms and a blanket on the other. he grabbed the blanket and sat it down on the beautiful green grass, making you realize it was the front of josie’s house. her house was huge, definitely more than two stories. it was white all around with those roman columns supporting the balcony on the second floor. it amazed you and no doubt amazed him, too.
the curly-haired girl looked at you and smiled, giving a little wave. you just nodded your head, and drove away when the light finally turned green. you went to the old drive-in movie that closed down a while back. this was the first place you ever had sex. it was the best night of your life. opening up to sweet pea about your non-existent sex life took months, so when you were redy to have sex with him, he was slow and sweet- passionate. you were thankful it closed down because him sharing the only thing that the two of you had left with someone would kill you. that was your experience with him. yours.
Sidewalks We crossed I still hear your voice In the traffic We're laughing Over all the noise God, I'm so blue Know we're through But I still fucking love you, babe
“baaaaaabyyyyy,” sweet pea cried out. you two were in toni’s truck getting back from a date in greendale, currently stuck in traffic. “baby please look at me.”
you ignored him and looked out at the window. you were pissed at him for getting into another fight before you left the restaraunt.
“y/n, look, baby, i truly am sorry-”
“save it, sweet pea,” you deadpanned. of course, right when you wanted to be angry, your favorite song turned on. sweet pea smiled and turned the volume up way too loud. then, in an effort to make you laugh, he started belting out the words, messing up multiple times.
‘haha! see, y/n/n, i see you smiling over there!”
“shut up, whore,” you laughed. he tickled your sides as you begged for him to stop. finally, he did.
“hey, but in all seriousness, i am sorry, but i swear i’ve been working on it.”
“i know, my love, and i’m so proud of you,” you kissed his cheek.
then he grabbed your chin, pulling you back to kiss his lips, “i love you, pretty girl.”
“i love you, too.”
'Cause you said forever now I drive alone past your street Yeah, you said forever now I drive alone past your street
 father pea <3:
‘foreverrrrrr, i promise. rat’
you looked at your messages with sweet pea. the last text between you too in 7 weeks. you let out a chuckle at his name. remembering how he asked you to him daddy, but you couldn’t do it without laughing, thinking about saying, ‘ father pea’ instead.
“i love you, too. rat,” you cried, in a small voice, “forever.”

Act Five: Meant To Be Yours
Ever since we rehearsed Dead Girl Walking for the first time yesterday, I haven’t been able to shake the feeling I had when I was straddling Sweet Pea’s lap. Why – oh why – must he be so attractive and so good at singing? Never have I felt anything like this for a co-star in a play or musical. I hate feeling this weak and vulnerable for a boy. Thought I’d learned my lesson after Reggie, but I guess I didn’t.  “Earth to Y/N,” Ella’s voice makes me snap out of my thoughts.  “Hm, what?” I ask, my eyes darting from Ella to Margot and back. Both of them have knowing smirks on their faces. The three of us are sat at the cafeteria, eating our lunches. Only a few more hours until the very last rehearsal before we go through everything from beginning to end for the next rehearsals.  “You’re so crazy about him,” Margot retorts and takes a bite from her sandwich.  “I am not,” I shoot back, furrowing my eyebrows.  “Hm, Ella, don’t you think it’s weird I didn’t have to say a name, and still, Y/N knew who I was talking about?” Margot is a great actress, but her sarcasm always seeps through in situations like this.  “Yeah, that is weird. How could that be, Margot?” Ella taps her chin twice with her index finger and looks like she’s in deep thought with her brows furrowed and lips pursed.  “I don’t know, Ella. Maybe because she’s so damn madly in love with the guy playing Jason Dean.” Margot and Ella both burst out laughing, and I can’t help but smile too.  “Imagine having your own Jason Dean without the psychopathic part, and not doing anything about it,” Ella scoffs, shaking her head at me while picking at her salad. “I mean, honestly, Y/N, what’s holding you back?” I drop my sandwich on my tray and heave a deep sigh. “Is it the Serpent-thing? I thought you didn’t care about all that shit?” Margot adds, wanting to know too, why I didn’t take my chance and ask him out.  “No…” I sigh again, “It’s… I… I don’t know, guys. I just think I’m scared. I mean, what if he doesn’t feel the same? He’s pretty much still in love with Josie McCoy even though she broke his heart in a thousand pieces. What’s Reggie going to do? Is it going to change the entire musical? Is it going to steer me away from my path straight to NYU?” I ramble all of the thoughts I’d been overthinking on my own the entire night last night.  “Wow, girl, okay…” Margot seems a little taken aback by all the thoughts slipping out of my mouth. “Let’s break this down,” she says and glances to Ella for a second as if to check who’ll start. Ella does.  “The only way to know if he feels the same, is to ask him.” She shrugs as if it’s that simple.  “Are you sure he’s still in love with Josie? I mean, what you guys did in rehearsals during Dead Girl Walking, that was improv, which might mean he wanted to rip your shirt off the entire time,” Margot continues by tackling my second thought.  “Who cares what Reggie’s going to do? He’s a dick, Y/N. Screw him,” Ella says, and Margot nods.  “If you’re scared it’s going to change the musical, then wait until the musical’s over. The show’s next weekend if you can wait that long. But if it’s going to change the musical, he isn’t that great an actor, sweetie.” Margot presses her lips together in a painful grimace.  “You still have this year and senior year to spend with him and if he loves you, he’ll understand you’ll have to work on musical theater to get into the college of your dreams. He’ll support you, run lines with you, sing songs with you. If the both of you want it enough, you’ll make it work.”  I sigh again. They’re not wrong, but I’m not convinced yet. “Yeah, but what if he doesn’t want me like that?” My friends at the other side of the table groan simultaneously.  “We’re not going to start this again, Y/N,” Margot says.  “Just ask him,” Ella adds, exaggerating the articulation of the words. I open my mouth to say something else, but the bell ringing to signal the end of lunch interrupts me. “Let’s go, I’ve got biology and professor Phylum doesn’t like tardiness.” Margot and I nod, and the three of us leave the cafeteria together. On our way to our lockers, we bump into a bunch of jocks. Not Reggie nor Archie. But Ryan, Jake and Mason. All three with gross smirks on their faces.  “Hey, Y/N,” Ryan greets in a deep voice.  “Sorry, boys, we got to get to class,” I say, and we try to walk past them, but they block us from doing so. “Can you let us through, please?” I try to keep my voice steady, even though I’m starting to get scared. These three don’t have the cleanest record when it comes to interactions with women.  “Ah, you can’t just leave,” Mason’s mouth curls up into a grin.  “Not when you’re dressed like that,” Jake then goes. I look down to the Veronica skirt I’m wearing. Kevin told us to always wear something our characters would wear to really get into the mind of the person we’re supposed to play.  “Dressed like what? This is what I always wear?” I glance at my friends, who are clearly as confused as I am. The three boys give each other a glance too before Mason goes on.  “Yeah! And it’s torture!” Ryan almost yells in frustration.  “How can you expect us to control ourselves when you look like that?” says Jake. This is going to be one of those conversations, isn’t it?  “Back off, assholes,” Cheryl’s voice sounds from behind me. When I turn my head, I find Sweet Pea, Fangs, Toni and Cheryl standing behind me with their arms crossed. My eyes linger a little longer on the tall Serpent right behind me. He has an intimidating scowl on his face.  “Oh, look the criminals are backing up the theater nerds now that they’re singing and dancing together like little fags.” Mason says with a chuckle and hitting his best bud, Jake, on his chest. Jake and Ryan both cackle obnoxiously.  “What’s going on here, Bulldogs?” Reggie’s voice chimes in. For some reason, it only makes me tense up more. He goes to stand next to Ryan, looking at me first, then glancing at the Bulldogs. “Are they harassing you, Y/N?” I want to open my mouth to tell him it’s not that bad to avoid any fighting when Betty and Veronica chime in too.  “Get over yourself, assholes, she’s not that into you,” Veronica tells them, her eyebrows furrowed.  “Oh, come on, Reg!” Mason starts, “You’ve noticed she’s gotten hotter every damn day! She may not have been good enough for you back then, but right now, she’s good enough to get with me!” I raise my eyebrow at him. I can’t keep my mouth shut anymore. Not when he’s talking shit like that.  “Now I’m good enough?” I ask, stepping forward. Reggie steps back to allow me more space. “Did it ever occur to you that I don’t care if I’m ‘good enough’ for a gross, misogynistic prick like you? I’m intelligent enough to know my worth doesn’t depend on a jock’s boner. You, however, are worth nothing. So, get your tiny dick out of here before I cut it off.” I’ve gotten closer with every word I’ve said to the point where I’m mere inches away from him.  “You heard her, ass,” Archie then says, who’d joined too.  “Get out of here!” Sweet Pea adds with his intimidating, low voice that sends shivers down my spine.  “See you in hell, assholes!” Betty, Margot and I yell after them as they scurry away.  “Thanks for backing me up, guys,” I say, glancing up to every single one of my co-stars. My eyes linger on Sweet Pea again, and he’s looking at me too. His scowl is replaced with a small smile and sparkles in his eyes, lighting up his eyes more.  “That’s all good, Y/N,” Reggie says, and wraps an arm around me. I stiffen at the all-too-familiar feeling. “We’re all theater nerds now!” I wriggle myself loose from his grip with a chuckle.  “Mess with Veronica, mess with the Heathers!” Cheryl chimes in. Her red lips are turned up into a wide, bright smile that takes away the nerves I just felt when Reggie placed his arm around me.  “Let’s get to class now,” Margot then suggests, and we all nod in agreement.  “Y/N,” Sweet Pea starts and holds me back by my arm while the others get to class. “Can we please rehearse some lines tonight after rehearsal?” The words feel like a punch in the stomach. I can’t be trusted alone with him. I’ll just forget about all of my worries and kiss him and then overthink it once again when it’s happened. I need to step back and pretend I’m not as in love with him as I am right now. For my own good. For my future. To save the musical.
“Let’s do Yo Girl and Meant to Be Yours back to back again. Make sure to go all-in today, kids!” Evelyn tells us with a grin on her face. Everyone that needs to be on stage goes to get ready. Cheryl, Archie and Reggie go to stand on the raised bit of the stage. They’re dead by now, so it’s their ghosts that are still haunting Veronica. Betty, Veronica and I stand on the lower bit to do our small conversation. “Martha Dumptruck took a belly flop off the Old Mill Bridge last night holding a suicide note,” Betty says with a chuckle. “Oh my God, is she dead?” I ask, eyes wide, pretending to be shocked by this news. Betty then replies, “Just some broken bones. Just another geek trying to imitate the popular people and failing miserably.” She rolls her eyes and walks off stage with Veronica in tow. “Yo girl, keep it together I knew you would come far Now you're truly a Heather Smell how gangsta you are,” Cheryl, Reggie and Archie sing together from ‘heaven’. “Martha, I’m so sorry,” I say, Veronica Sawyer’s barely holding it together. “Yo girl, feel a bit punchy? She's not looking so well Still, you've earned that red scrunchie Come join Heather in hell,” the dead characters sing again, and on walk our coach and the drama teacher who are playing my parents. “Where’ve you been?” Coach McLaren asks with furrowed eyebrows. He’s not the greatest actor. But it’ll do for a few lines. “We've been worried sick! Your friend JD stopped by. He told us everything,” miss Jacobs says her line. “Everything?” I ask. Miss Jacobs gives me a worried smile. “Your depression, your thoughts of suicide…” Coach McLaren goes. Miss Jacobs shows me a Moby Dick copy. “He even showed us your copy of Moby Dick!” “He’s got your handwriting down cold,” Cheryl chimes in sassily. “Please, honey, talk to us!” miss Jacobs pleads. At least her good acting balances out coach’s bad acting. I shake my head viciously. “No, you wouldn’t understand!” “Try me! I’ve experienced everything you’re going through!” miss Jacobs’ voice grows, and I back up. “Guess who's right down the block?” the dead kids sing behind us. “Your problems seem like life and death—” ‘mom’ chimes in. Then Cheryl, Reggie and Archie take their turn again, “Guess who’s climbing the stairs?” “I promise they’re not!” miss Jacobs says. “Guess who’s picking your lock?” “You don’t know what my world looks like!” I yell at my mother and run off stage. “Time’s up! Go say your prayers!” Mom and dad now walk off stage, and I go back on. The dead kids walk down the stairs on one side while I run up the ones on the other side. “Veronica's running on, running on fumes now Veronica's totally fried Veronica's gotta be trippin' on 'schrooms now, Thinking that she can hide Veronica's done for, there's no doubt now, Notify next of kin! Veronica's trying to keep him out now Too late! He got in!” Sweet Pea walks onto stage as if he’d just broken into my ‘bedroom”, and I’m hiding in the closet from him. “Knock! Knock! Sorry to come through the window. Dreadful etiquette, I know!” Sweet Pea’s voice makes my knees buckle. He sounds so angry, yet I know he isn’t. He looked happy just seconds ago. “Get out of my house!” I yell at him through the pretend door. “All is forgiven, baby! Come on and get dressed! You’re my date to the pep rally tonight!” I perk up at that with furrowed eyebrows in confusion. “What?! Why?!” “You chucked me out like I was trash, For that you should be dead— But! But! But! Then it hit me like a flash, What if high school went away instead' Those assholes are the key! They're keeping you away from me! They made you blind, messed up your mind But I can set you free!” When we were exploring the songs still, Ella, Margot and I were always dancing to this song. But now, I can’t seem to move a muscle. I’m not allowed to, but even if I was, I’m too enthralled by his voice and how perfect it sounds for the song. “You left me and I fell apart, I punched the wall and cried— Bam! Bam! Bam!” I jump a little when his voice grows louder. “Then I found you changed my heart and set loose all that truthful shit inside! And so I built a bomb Tonight our school is Vietnam! Let's guarantee they'll never see their senior prom!” The music slows down a little and his voice does too, getting a bit vulnerable. “I was meant to be yours! We were meant to be one! Don't give up on me now! Finish what we've begun! I was meant to be yours!” Then the music grows louder and harder, and his voice becomes angrier and more psychopathic than before. How do I only find out now how talented this boy is? “So when the high school gym goes boom with everyone inside— Pchw! Pchw! Pchw! In the rubble of their tomb We'll plant this note explaining why they died!” The other students walk up the stage too, surrounding JD in a half circle. “We, the students of Westerburg High Will die. Our burnt bodies may finally get through To you. Your society churns out slaves and blanks No thanks. Signed the Students of Westerburg High 'Goodbye.'” The students stay where they are, but Sweet Pea now sings on his own. “We'll watch the smoke poor out the doors. Bring marshmallows, We'll make s'mores! We can smile and cuddle while the fire roars!” Then, everyone sings back up vocals for Sweet Pea during the chorus, making it sound even more magical. However, I can only focus on Sweet Pea’s gorgeous voice. It’s making me fall more and more in love with the boy. Damn it. “I was meant to be yours! We were meant to be one! I can't make this alone! Finish what we've begun! You were meant to be mine! I am all that you need! You carved open my heart! Can't just leave me to bleed!” I begin to prepare my fake suicide by hanging up a fake noose and wrapping it around my neck. “Veronica, open the—open the door, please' Veronica, open the door. Veronica, can we not fight anymore' Please, can we not fight anymore' Veronica, sure, you're scared, I've been there. I can set you free! Veronica, don't make me come in there! I'm gonna count to three! “One! Two! Fuck it!” He opens the ‘door’ and finds his Veronica dead. The boy, overcome with emotions, kneels down next to me and begins crying. “Oh my God! 'No! 'Veronica'!” His voice sounds softer, but still equally as powerful. And it still sends chills down my spine. “Please don't leave me alone' You were all I could trust' I can't do this alone'” The others back him up again for the very last line, and goosebumps form on my arms. “Still I will if I must!” “Veronica?!” mom shouts as she walks up the stairs. Sweet Pea looks up in a panic and runs off stage.  “I made you a snack! Veronica?!” Miss Jacobs walks up the stairs with a tray in her hands when she finds her daughter hung from the ceiling. A loud, shrill shriek comes from her body, making me snap my head up. “No, no, no!” I yell and run up to her. “No, it was a joke! No, mom, please! Look at me! I’m okay!” I grab her cheeks and makes her look at me. I wipe away her tears. “I’m fine. I’m fine!” “That’s not funny!” she yells back at me, sobbing violently.   “And scene!” Kevin yells, and miss Jacobs and I get up. “You’re doing a great job, Y/N,” she tells me with a smile. Miss Jacobs has always been kind of my second mom. She’s my theater mom. She’s supporting me in my dreams to become a professional musical theater actress. The woman believes in me more than my own mother. “Thanks, mom,” I say with a wink and approach my friends on the side of the stage. “I have a problem,” I say in a panicked, but hushed voice. “What is it?” Margot asks, placing her round sunglasses on the top of her head. “I’m terribly and embarrassingly in love with Jason Dean,” I hope they get the code name for Sweet Pea as I don’t want to anyone to hear me say his actual name. The girls’ smiles widen. “Thank heaven’s she admits it!” they both exclaim loudly. I shush them immediately, frantically looking around if anyone’s heard them. Everyone else seems preoccupied with other things, and I sigh in relief. “I don’t know what to do though?” I whisper with a pained expression. “Help? Please?” “Let stoner chick and preppy kid take care of it!” Ella reassures me. Or at least tries to. I’m not sure if I am reassured.

back to you
sweet pea x fem!reader ♀
warnings: angst
you and sweet pea have been dating, but sweet pea isn’t quite over his ex.
Tumblr media
when you began dating sweet pea, it was only a few months after school had started. which meant that josie and SP’s relationship had come to an end four months before yours. you thought that sweet pea would be okay now, that he was ready for another. you’d taken a generous amount of time to really talk with him, getting to know his emotions well before anything would become complicated.
he swore that he was over josie, and that he wanted you. and you believed him.
“it just doesn’t make sense,” you admit, looking at reggie over your milkshake. you agreed to hang out at pops, just once. the whyte wyrm was your usual. “i mean, i thought i could trust him.” you frown, sweeping back a piece of hair from your face.
“i say, you break up.” reggie deadpanned.
“hey!” you laughed, reaching across the booth to slap his shoulder. “i’m serious!”
he smiles, pretending that he wasn’t wishing that you would crack the serpent's heart in two.
“i don’t know, sweetheart. i’m not good at this.” he admits, throwing an arm across his seat, the other ruffling his hair.
“i know, reg. i’m just happy that you listen anyway.”
reggie sometimes thought you were too innocent and kind to be a serpent at times. you attracted the opposite; sweet pea being the prime example. maybe even reggie.
“thank you, y/n, but i already know how amazing i am.” he laughed, and she just scoffed playfully.
he loved how she made time for everyone. she was a careful being, always checking in on the ones she cared for.
reggie’s eyes flicked to over your shoulder as the bell over the door rang. he groaned and rubbed his forehead as furrowed your brows.
“what’s wrong?” you ask, slowly turning your head to follow his gaze. you feared reggie’s ruthless ex veronica, would come to ruin a fun time.
fangs approached your table, a warm hand coming to clasp your shoulder as you smiled in relief. “fangs,” you exhaled. “hey, good to see you.” at the very least, fangs would offer you a smile.
but, something was different.
his posture is tense, his face was unwelcoming and rigid. your fists balled by instinct, and your jaw clenches. “what?” you ask, a bit anxiously.
“it’s pea.” fangs says, tugging your arm to come with him. your heart sank as you quickly rose out of the booth, pulling your purse out with shaking hands.
“i’m so sorry, reggie.” you quickly apologise, beginning to shuffle through your purse for a five.
“don’t worry about it, i’ve got it.” reggie gives you a forced smile.
you wave goodbye for a split second before whipping around as fangs drags you out of the chock’lit shoppe.
fangs doesn’t say anything until you arrive at the whyte wyrm. as you throw the stick into park, fangs finally speaks to you.
“it’s bad this time,” he warns you, a disappointed look on his face. “he’s drunk.”
you thank fangs before rushing in, seeing sweets on a bar stool, head in his hands.
“baby,” you’re relieved that he’s in one piece, still conscious. “i was so worried.”
you hug the cool leather of his serpent jacket, kissing the spot behind his ear.
after a brief hug, you come to sit in the bar stool next to him, gently raking the stray hair from his face. “let me see, sweets.” coaxing him into seeing the damage done.
“go away.” he mumbles grumpily.
“i just wanna help,” you try again, your hands nimbly attempting to pry them away.
sweet pea doesn’t reply. his shoulders sink further.
“sweet pea, i’ll just t-“
“fuck, y/n! just go!” he stands up suddenly, staring down at you.
he has a deep cut across the bridge of his nose, and deep purple bruises scattered across his face, the most prominent on his right cheekbone.
your cheeks turn red as the bar falls silent and most of them stare.
“pea, i’m just trying to help you get home safe.” you look at him in the eyes, your voice hard. “fucking fangs had to come while i was having fun, and take me away to take care of you.”
you don’t even know why you argue with him when he’s drunk. he’s not in the state of mind to even process your words.
“yeah, and who were you with, baby?” SP lets out a flat scoff.
“let’s just go.” you groan, standing up and glaring at him expectantly.
pea rolls his eyes, giving you a dirty scowl.
“i’ll help you home, yeah? get you something to drink at your house. you don’t gotta be here.” fangs cuts in, sounding desperate.
although you’re pissed at sweets for embarrassing you, and although it feels deeply buried inside you right now, you want him to get home.
“c’mon, sweets. i’ll take care of you. tuck you in and we’ll forget about it.” you offer, a tone so soft you know only he’d hear.
he groans in response, finally standing and wrapping an arm around fangs to go back to your car.
he’s practically asleep when you manage to get him in and buckled, mumbling a few incoherent words here and there.
when you and fangs finally lay him down in his bed, you thank fangs and reassure him you could take it from here. he gave you a long hug, before departing.
sweets was asleep by now, and you tugged off his serpent jacket and hung it up. you worked quick, sure to organize everything the way he’d want things. his chest and ribs seemed fine, just a few light bruises. the most damage was to his face, so you worked as quietly and carefully as possible. cleaning away the shallow cuts with alcohol pads before applying just a bit of ointment.
sweets was really pretty. his hair was pushed back, so you could really look.
he was in the deep sleep, on his way to a hangover, you quickly realized. he hadn’t even moved a bit while you fixed up his cuts. you pulled a tylenol from the bathroom mirror and set it on the nightstand before leaving. “good night, sweets.” you whisper before kissing his forehead, your heart fluttering as you turn to leave.
pea mumbles something, and you look back, thinking maybe he’d woke. his eyes were shut, and you chuckle to yourself as he continued on a string of jumbled sleep talk. that is, until you could make out a certain name, four different times.
josie.
the next day, you don’t talk to anyone. you’d spent the night thinking about everything you weren’t to him. that each time you kissed, had sex, held hands, touched..
he thought of someone else.
it absolutely broke your heart. it seemed like no matter what you did, you’d always be second.  even worse, it made sense. why he didn’t want to go to the winter dance. why he never wanted to go to veronica’s speakeasy. he loved josie too much to see her.
sweet pea calls three times and texts more when you don’t respond for the better part of the day. you don’t read anything.
you ask toni if she’d come over. everything is bottled up in you, and the constant flow of tears isn’t helping. when she comes, you absolutely fall apart. you can barely breathe as you explain everything, including your feelings. you wish that the sting of rejection didn’t hurt so bad.
sweet pea is worried. he first woke with a bitch of a hangover, then realized how everything was arranged. the tylenol, the hung jacket, and his face was properly taken care of. he was so lucky for a girl like her.
he called to tell her how much he appreciated it; to thank her. she didn’t pick up, and he thought nothing of it, but when he texted six times and called twice more by noon, he felt a sinking feeling of dread as he asked all of his friends around the wyrm if they’d seen her.
he decided toni as the last chance before going over to her place. calling her, toni picked up on the second ring.
“what?” she hissed, not sounding very happy.
“jesus, i didn’t even say anything.”
“shut up. what do you want?”
“have you seen y/n?” pea asks hopefully, clinging to the last of his hope.
“yes. i’m here. comforting her, asshole.”
sweet pea had no idea what she was talking about.
“what? why? what happened?” was all he could rush out, already getting up and reaching for his keys.
“fucks sake, sweet pea. you really fucked her over last night.” sweet pea froze as she spoke, in utter shock.
“me? toni, what the hell are you talking about?”
“you don’t even remember. well, why would you? you were drunk.” toni says with a razor edge in her voice.
“fuck. what did i do?” sweet pea’s hands shake, his heart racing.
“fix it, pea. now.”
the next three school days, you avoid him. he searches for you, constantly, desperately missing you. toni wouldn’t tell him; she claimed he had to make it up to y/n. she didn’t have a say in their relationship. fangs knew a part of it, but they shared details of everything that had happened with each other.
he waited outside of your biology classroom. up until the bell, he watched closely as students filled the hallways, waiting to see his girlfriend.
unsurprisingly, she’s talking to reggie. sweet pea forces himself to swallow the rage that he feels.
was this why you’d been ignoring him? the bulldog had gotten to you?
he briskly pushes past others, grabbing your forearm and yanking you to the side of the hallway.
“what the fuck, y/n?” sweets jaw is jumping, his fist clenching and unclenching. “you’ve ignored all of my texts and calls? you ditched me for a bulldog?”
“get the fuck off of me!” you push at sweet pea, but his grip only tightens as he grabs both forearms.
“what the fuck is your problem?” sweet pea asks, glaring down at you.
“you’re a fucking liar! that’s my problem!” y/n stares back up at him, eyes filling with tears and spilling before she could stop them.
sweet pea lets go of her, his hands dropping to his sides. his heart aches, seeing her like this.
“y/n,” reggie’s unwelcomed voice intrudes the couples conversation. “we should go.”
sweet pea stares at her as she looks at reggie, then back up at him.  he’s trying to suppress it all; every nerve in his body is tense and on edge. he was ready to kill reggie.
“stay out of it.” sweet pea snaps at him, looking past her to glare at him for a second. “slumming it with a north sider?” sweet pea humorlessly laughs.
“accusing me of cheating? again?” she’s tired of sweet pea being such a fucking hypocrite. she crosses her arms as she doesn’t take her eyes from his own. “that’s rich. you know, coming from you.” rolling your eyes, you throw a look over your shoulder to reggie, a half smirk on your face.
you receive the same look back.
“coming from me?” sweet pea narrowed his eyes.
“well, considering how much you love josie..” you trail off, ignoring the sting.
“oh my god! that’s what this is about?” sweet pea shoves a hand through his hair, raising his voice.
“no, it’s not! it’s about how you never cared about me! it’s about using me, wasting my time, a-and..” your voice cracks as you almost hug yourself, finding comfort in the serpent jacket you wore.
“stringing me along.. but still thinking of her.” you shudder, not even being able to continue all the reasons you should hate him. “a-and making me love you!” you turn away from sweet pea, breaking down into tears as you rush towards the girls bathroom. sweet pea nor reggie had time to react.
because, holy shit, you just said you loved him. sweet pea stood appalled, his own throat tightening as his fists clench.
toni tells him that she had left early that day. so, he does one thing right; follows her. he doesn’t care how insane it seemed, or how stupid it make him. that’s what people who love each other do, right?
you’re sitting on the end of your bed when he opens your door, one of his huge tee shirts on your body. you don’t say anything as he comes and sits next to you. your cheeks and nose are red. guilt drowns him.
before he can rattle off a speech of his feelings, everything he’d wanted to say to her, she broke the silence.
“i think we should break up.”
sweet pea snaps his head up to look at her, and her face is almost sympathetic.
“i don’t deserve this. i don’t want to be your rebound. then when you kept saying her name while you were asleep.. pea, fuck. i felt used. i had sex with you. and then you accused me of cheating in front of everyone at the wyrm.. i still brought you home, and cleaned you up, sweets! do you have any idea how dumb that makes me feel? i took care of you. the entire month of that dumb school dance.. i waited for you to ask. but you probably already had your plans with josie, huh? couldn’t bear to go through it with someone you didn’t love?” you look at him, then. he realizes you weren’t the girl that you were at the beginning of your relationship. you’re tired of him. he ruined you.
he’s crushed. all this time, you’d quietly suffered.
“i love you.” sweet pea admits. he should tell you how he didn’t love josie; that she doesn’t compare, and never will. he belongs to you. but he can’t seem to choke out a single word. He tries to blink away the tears. this can’t be the end of it.
there’s a long silence between the two of you.
“yeah, i love you too.” you stare at the ground.
sweet pea isn’t sure what to do. he feels rigid; like you hate him now.
his body longed for yours. you look at him again; you realize he’s crying, too. your eyes wonder to his lips for a mere second.
he just wants to make it better. he has no idea how. he’s never done this.
he moves to kiss you, his hand cupping your cheek but you turn away.
“i think you should go, now.” your skin is practically buzzing with sweet peas warm touch. it’s mournfully cold when he pulls away again.
“i’m sorry,” he mumbles, trying to keep his voice clear and strong. hands running through his hair in frustration. “i’m clueless when it comes to this.” sweet pea stands up, getting on his knees in front of you. “y/n, come on, we can’t break up.” his hands rest on your thighs, gently squeezing them. “i’m sorry. fuck, i don’t care, i’ll do whatever you want me to. anything,” sweets hates feeling so fucking helpless. “please. i love you. and this is all so new to me! i don’t wanna lose you.” you look away, slipping your hands over his own.
“sweet pea.. i don’t want to be with you.” you lied, clenching your teeth. you wanted him to leave you alone.
that was the last thing sweet pea wanted to hear. she was drawing out his heart ache painfully.
he left her that night, wounded by her words. even though each of their hearts told them to stay.

A/N: As you guys already know my requests are always open! I just ask that you request something I am familiar with! Also, I am writing this to mostly see if Tumblr is shadow banning everything I write or just when I tag it smut. This is not smut it is about heartbreak.
Masterlist
Part 2 Part 3
Summary: You and Jughead Jones started something when Betty abruptly ended their relationship. Yet, everyone knows Bughead is endgame.
Warnings: None!
Tumblr media
Inspecting yourself in your bedroom mirror, you felt like a walking princess. You wore a baby blue dress that hugged your body in all the right places and touched the floor in an elegant manner. You wore enough makeup to accentuate your eyes and a pair of black heels to give you that extra boost. Your hair was let down in loose curls. It was the school dance and it was the first time you were going with a boy on a date. You and Jughead started something after Betty broke up with him out of the blue. Both of you never gave it an official title but it felt like he was going to be your boyfriend with the way things were going. It has only been a month, and he never officially asked you making tonight the night where you were going to bring up your relationship. Your phone lit up and it was your best friend Josie McCoy
I'm here!
Even though Jughead was your date, you and Josie always made sure to make an entrance together. You walked out of your room and towards the front door.
“Bye, mom! Bye, dad! Love you guys!” You shouted as you left the house entering Josie’s car.
“Josie you look incredible!” You squealed looking at your best friend.
“Girl, you should look at yourself! Jughead is going to lose his shit when he sees you.” Josie stated.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You spotted Jughead from across the Gym, with Betty next to him. Huh, that's weird You thought to yourself as you walked over to him.
“So you and Betty are back together?” You questioned looking into Jugheads eyes as Betty leaned into his embrace.
“Yeah! We made up!” Betty gushed. “I love Juggy.”
“Oh good for you guys” You mumbled as you turned away walking out of the gym.
Tears streamed down your cheeks as you walked out of Riverdale High. You took a seat on a bench outside of the school. Taking deep breathes trying to calm down and stop the sobbing, you heard the front doors open. You didn't bother to check but instead, you turned your body to face the street. You felt a presence behind you but continued to ignore it.
“Listen Y/N” Jughead sighed “I’m sorry, I should have never started anything with you when I still have feelings with Betty.”
“It's my fault Jug. I should have known better” You rebuked “I'm just a stupid girl who had a stupid crush on a stupid boy and that stupidest thought that I could find happiness.”
You got up and began to walk away. Your heart was broken into a million pieces and each piece seemed to stab you everywhere in your body.
“Y/N wait!” Jughead screamed out.
“Leave me alone Jughead! Go back to Betty, I was always the second choice anyways.” You shouted back picking up your pace and running towards Pops.
Word Count: 1488
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Growing up in the southside your whole life you met a few people along the way the most important being Sweet Pea. You guys were inseparable, best friends. People often wondered if you two were dating, but you always laughed it off. Sweet Pea was always there to protect you even though you always said you could defend yourself he wouldn’t let you.
Y/N POV:
“Reggie stop” “what's wrong” “I ca-can't breathe” “I regret my life choices, why did I ever tell you I was ticklish” Reggie then leaned over giving you a kiss and said he was done for now. “For now what do you mean for now your gonna be done forever no more tickling me”
“fine y/n but watch your back”
Reggie and you have been dati- correction “hooking up” for a few months. You just wish it could be more and you just don't get why it couldn't be. You met over winter break when you were snowboarding at one of the hills near the high school. It was a cute moment like it was taken directly out of a love story. You were boarding down the hill when you lost control almost running into a tree, you dove to the side and landed directly on top of him. But it wasn't the first time you met. Reggie flirted with you every now and then at school when you would go to the basketball games to support Toni cheerleading. Of course, when you fell on him, him being Reggie he had a smart ass remark.
“When I told you you’d fall for me one day I didn't mean it literally Y/L/N” After the brought you back to his house to ice your ankle which in the process of falling got sprained. Let's just say sitting by a fire and drinking some spiked hot chocolate can lead to a few things. You did this a few more times, not the falling but the hot chocolate adventures. But... the hot chocolate one night let to a little more. You sat up in his bed talking for what seemed like hours. You had been doing that more often, but you haven't seen Reggie in about 2 weeks; not in person, a call, or even a text, and you were beginning to get worried.
You knew how his dad was, and after not hearing from him you were afraid of what could’ve happened. The only reason you didn’t go to his house was due to the fact that if you did it could’ve ended up worse for him. You couldn’t talk to anyone about him though, no one knew not even one of the people you were closest too; Sweet Pea. You didn't want to date a bulldog but you and Reggie just kind of happened you weren't afraid to tell Pea you just didn’t know what to tell him, and you really didn’t know what to tell him. You didn't know what you and Reggie were; fuck buddies, friends with benefits, a couple?
You were working your shift at pops about to put away your apron when you saw him, After 2 weeks of not talking to him all you wanted to do was run up and see if he was okay. But you knew you couldn’t. You didn’t interact with each other unless you were at his house or your trailer. Reggie started walking up to the counter, and the worry and anxious feeling in your stomach grew.
“Hey y/n I have a question for you”
“Yeah, Reggie?”
“I'm gonna come back tomorrow night when Veronica opens the speakeasy if you’re not working do you want to come”
“Like as your date”
“Uhm not exactly I mean we could hang out, and sit together maybe. Not a date though, I don’t know I just thought it would be nice to see you” and that's when it hit you he was ashamed of you, ashamed of your relationship if you could call it that. He was embarrassed for people to know that you even associated together. You hung your apron and stormed out of Pops not even giving him an answer. You were done with his mangy ass. You now knew he really didn’t care.
“Y/N WAIT, JUST STOP PLEASE”
“What Reggie what do you want”
“I’m sorry I just can’t Y/N”
“can’t what? be a man? tell the truth? listen to your feelings? must be really hard huh”
“Really Y/N, I’m sorry I really am. I don’t know what to say to make it up to you. But I do know that I don’t want to lose you”
“Yeah, well hate to break it to you Reggie but your past losing me. I'm not the type of girl that just wants to fuck a guy. I can’t keep doing this with you”
“But I like you, I like you a lot” He grabbed your hand and pulled you towards him and that's when you broke. You slapped him across the face, and then everything came out. “DON’T FUCKING TOUCH ME. Did you only want me for sex Reggie?”
“No, You know that’s not why I was with you”
“You were never with me. If you were with me this would be more than me sneaking into your window or coming over when your dad wasn’t home. Why can’t it be a date? Why can’t we talk in public? Reggie, I thought I meant something but clearly, you're embarrassed. If you truly cared like you said you did then you wouldn’t be embarrassed or afraid to be seen with me in public” He didn’t say a word he just looked at the ground then up at you so you continued “What are you fucking ashamed of me? ashamed to be with a fucking serpent? I gave you my everything I told you things not even my friends know about me and for what? It was all wasted. Wasted on you not knowing how to stand up to your friends. but hey guess I'm not worth it huh? guess I was just another one of your fuck buddies you're gonna throw to the curb”
“Y/N YOU KNOW IT’S NOT LIKE THAT”
 “Then what? WHAT REGGIE? WHAT IS IT LIKE?”
 “I can’t lose them they are all I have ever known. They were my family when my dad hit me they were there when no one else was, and if my dad found out about us I’d be dead”
“SERIOUSLY REGGIE! May I remind you that I was there to clean your wounds after your dumbass friends ran away when you guys got jumped by a bunch of ghoulies cause you all were stupid enough to go to a bar on their territory? Or how about the time that your dad beat you, and I was the one that you cried to afraid; afraid to go back home and afraid to show your emotion to your friends. Reggie, I am done, I am done being your toy dragged around to help you when your hurt, or horny that is not who I am. Whatever this was is over. Never talk to me again Mantle, and if you do a slap across the face isn't the only thing you're going to get”
With that, you stormed off afraid that if you looked back you would break right there. That night was the worst. You didn’t have your bike so you couldn’t ride home you had to walk thinking of everything you could have done better to make your relationship with Reggie work. In reality, there was nothing you could do, but walking alone a lot of things came to mind and you were slowly breaking with every step you took.
Sweet Peas POV:
I was walking out of the Wyrm after talking to FP about a job he had planned for us when I heard someone crying. It wasn’t just anyone though. As the crying got closer I knew exactly who it was, and whoever hurt Y/N was gonna fucking get it. I walked up behind her and tapped her on the shoulder. When she looked up I just wanted to break. The strong girl I knew my entire life looked like she was about to fall apart, and I needed to figure out why. I was about to say something but all she did was look at me and fall to the ground. I picked her back up and hugged her. I have not seen her like this in a long time. I knew she wasn’t in a state to talk, and I knew how she worked. If someone tried to talk when she wasn't ready she would shut everyone out. I told her to hop on my bike and I’d take her home. I hoped that by the time we got to her trailer she would be ready to talk, at least so I could better understand how to help her.
Sweet pea x Reader
Hi, this is my first time doing this, I hope through time my writing improves as I make stories like these and so on. Created: 7/8/18 Update: 4/6/21 (Decided to come back and fix it.. but I got lazy so I'm just gonna let it be, the difference is the reader lol)
||You are a quiet and shy, yet outgoing and confident North sider, never have you ever thought that a South sider would catch your eye.||
Y/n stared inside their locker as they gathered a few things from inside, it was the last transitioning period to the last class of the day. They got distracted, daydreaming a bit for a few minutes until Mr. Weatherbee, the principal, spoke into the intercom pulling them out of their thoughts. Furrowing their eyebrows as they held their books close to their chest, they looked down and listening to was the principal was saying. He was informing the students of Riverdale High that the students from Southside High will be attending the school due to theirs shutting down. Y/n glanced around as they heard groans and hushed tones saying rude comments, stating that it was a bad idea, that they'll corrupt this place, and more.
They ignored them after a few seconds already fed up with their complaints, Y/n didn't like those types of comments, they were all based on stereotypes and rumors. They closed their locker and walked to their last class of the day, their mind never wandering back to the announcement. They didn't even care, if anything, they thought of it as it'll still be everyday life at school, the only difference is that there will be new faces around the campus.
The next day at school Y/n was again by their locker, this time just leaning against it and staring at the ground, they were in their own little world. Kevin was beside them, he was chatting with Josie about how today is the day that the new students would arrive. Across from those three were Archie and Veronica, a table set with some papers and more for the new students. The three then moved, Y/n slightly snapped back to reality, as Kevin had dragged them with him across the hall now standing close behind Veronica and Archie nearby the wall.
Josie stood beside Y/n, they looked up at Kevin as he let go of their arm. Just right as they were about to say something the school's door opened. Y/n closed their mouth as they adverted their attention over to the open doors. They first saw Jughead walk-in, soon followed in behind him were a group of Serpents. Y/n silently watched as the hall slightly became crowded with the new students, listening to Veronica as she welcomed them. That was until Cheryl walked down the stairs, Reggie beside her. They sighed quietly knowing why Cheryl had appeared alongside Reggie and behind them was the football team.
Y/n leaned against the wall as drama slightly unfolded in front of their eyes, they had her arms crossed as they looked over at the South siders. their eyes skimmed the Serpents' faces, trying to get some of their faces embedded in their memory. As they observed the new students, their eyes locked with one of the serpents, a very tall and attractive guy.
They moved away from the wall with their arms still crossed, Kevin and Josie weren't beside them anymore, they had moved away to watch the fuss better. Y/n bit their inner cheek slightly, they were beginning to feel nervous and broke eye contact once he winked at her. Lightly blushing they glanced around, before settling their eyes back on him. His back was facing them as he walked away with his group of friends, they watched the tall, attractive guy before noticing that the small scene of drama had passed.
Throughout the day they couldn't help but let their thoughts go back to the tall guy from earlier in the morning. Y/n looked down at their notebook as they drew random things. Occasionally from time to time they would look up and pretended to pay attention just to not be called on in class. The bell soon rang indicating class was over, the school day was finally over with. They quietly continued drawing random things as the door was still filled with teens trying to escape the boring classroom to go home or just whatever their life consisted of.
Soon after everyone had left they closed their notebook, quickly checked their phone for the time and any messages. They then grabbed their black Jansport bag that was laying on the ground slightly propped against the table. They stood up, slung the strap of their backpack over their shoulder, and waved at the teacher who bid them goodbye and to have a good day before they walked out to the semi-empty halls.
Y/n went straight to their locker to put away their books and get other materials they needed to take home since they had homework. Regardless of how observant they could be based on the fact that they prefer to watch instead of talk and all, they never noticed a tall figure that was leaning against the wall as they passed by heading to their locker. Or maybe they just chose to not acknowledge them.
Once arriving at their locker they twisted the lock left once before twisting it twice to right then back once to the left swiftly and carefully. They quickly put their books and notebooks away things, then grabbed their other notebooks that contained their homework. Y/n movements slowed down as they felt eyes on them, they glanced over their shoulder and smiled softly.
"So what can I help you with? Just going to lean against the wall and stare at me as I get my things?" They asked as they closed their locker and slung their backpack strap over the shoulder once they put their things in so they wouldn't have to carry them. During the process of that, they crossed their chest, their left shoulder a bit up so it can hold the weight of their backpack for it to not slide off.
"Well, that depends, perhaps if you walked away not noticing me unlike right now. I'd stop you before you walked further down the hall for a small conversation." The tall male in front of her said, "so what's your name cutie?" He asked smiling as he leaned against the lockers. They moved their body a bit to the side to face him and chuckled quietly, running a hand through their hair pushing it back.
"Y/n." They answered as they slightly hugged themselves a bit, smiling at the tall boy in front of them. "Hmm... Cute name for an adorable person like you." Y/n felt their cheeks burn a bit, they tilted their head a bit to the side. "What's yours?" they asked him.
As he was about to reply Y/n looked over his shoulder as they heard running footsteps from down the hall, they recognized the guy from earlier, he was the short male who stood beside a girl and the guy in front of them. He scanned the hall before his eyes landed on the male in front of them, "Sweet pea! Let's go!"
They looked over to the tall male as they had learned his name from his friend, he smiled at them slightly smirking. He pushed himself gently off the lockers and walked close to them, he looked into their eyes as he grabbed their hand softly and their pen that they had sticking out of the pocket of their jacket. Before y/n had the chance to protest his actions he began to write small and gently on their hand, "call me or text me. Doesn't matter the time, I'll see you around cutie." Y/n heard him say as he finished and placed their pen back in their jacket and winked at them once they looked up from their hand before he walked away. They were blushing as they watched him, soon he was nowhere in sight, gone to meet up with his friends.
Prompt - Sweetpea splits up with Josie but he's in love with y/n his long time FRIEND
Pairing Sweetpea x reader (riverdale)
Warning - none really, some angst and maybe worthless feelings
Story
Sweetpea had spent most of the night drinking as his relationship with Josie McCoy had ended; he knew it was just a summer fling, but it still hurt in a small way.
For a while Josie had been a distraction for Sweetpea, well every girl he'd dated was. Although he'd never admit it out loud, he was in love with someone else: someone who, in his eyes, was too good for him. She was beautiful, funny, smart, and knew Sweetpea better than anyone. Fangs included. So instead of showing his feelings, he hid them; having strings of one-night stands to block her out of his head and heart. Not one ever worked.
Now he found himself drunk, and once again, on the steps of y/n’s home not knowing what he was gonna say when she opened the door.
"Looking for me?", her voice behind made him jump.
Turning to face her, he smiled seeing her lifting up a full bottle of vodka.
"Wanna be my drinking partner?" he shouts; mentally kicking himself for sounding dumb. Why did he always look like a goof around her? He cursed to himself.
You smile back: "Sure", before finding your keys and opening the door.
This wasn't unusual Sweets. often turned up drunk, looking for his favourite drinking partner. This never bothered you before. In fact, you loved being around Sweetpea, loved being the key word. However, it had been clear for years that he saw you as a friend; a good and close friend, but a friend all the same. There had been numerous times when Sweetpea would put an arm around your shoulders calling you his best friend.
You'd learnt to live with him calling you a best friend, to compartmentalise your feelings. For a while it worked. That was until his fling with Josie started. It hurt seeing them together, maybe because it was more than a one-night stand. Maybe he liked her more than he said.
Mid-way through the summer break you found yourself distancing yourself from Sweetpea and others in the group, taking on more shifts at the Wyrm.
"I thought you'd be home by now?" he asked, while getting glasses out of the cupboard. His pouring out two extra-large drinks didn't go unnoticed by you.
"I've been working the night shift this week. I took Hogeye for 100 in pool tonight". You laughed showing off your winnings, before putting them away.
Pea shook his head. "We really should team up in doubles", he joked, while taking a big swig from his glass.
"You know there would no one to give you a challenge if we did", you teased back.
That was the thing: no matter your feelings, you both fell into friends mode, in spite of what was going on in your head.
"I'm a bit surprised to see you. I thought you and the Northside lot were camping?" you asked, sensing something was up, as he had drunk more than half of his glass before you had even started.
He rolled his eyes with a snarl across his lips. "Nar... Josie and I were over, so there's no point being there. Who cares? She was just a bit of fun". To anyone else, this would have sounded convincing, jerky even. Others would have bought the Playboy line, but you could see the hurt in his eyes; most likely the same look from which you spent years hiding.
"She's a fool. You deserve someone real, not some fake Northside diva!" you say, trying to sound supportive, yet not too happy with the news.
He finished the rest of his drink, one last massive mouthful. Squinting his eyes as the alcohol burnt his chest on its way down, he said: "couldn't agree more, but who cares? I'm over her".
He wasn't lying. He was over Josie in a way; annoyed at how she blew him off for sure. The emotional connection was gone.
The topic of Josie was dropped pretty much then. For the next few hours, the pair of you listened to music, having your usual debate over which bands were better. You told him about things at the Wyrm: how you'd started taking on the late shifts, helping Hogeye kick out the drunks who wouldn't leave really could be your new calling in life.
"I would have loved to have seen you chucking out Danny. 'Bet he was fuming... " he said, chuckling, while imagining you push a six feet long Serpent out the bar. "What else 'been happening?" he asked.
"Well, two new girls did their Serpent dance. I'm surprised you missed it", you said, knowing Pea never missed a dance, "Showing support", he'd say in defence. Heck, for your dance he was front row and centre. His intense stare kept you focused, staring back at him while you moved and danced.
He laughed, asking if any were fit, earning an eye-roll from you. He was more drunk than normal, possibly giving him both courage and an excuse for his next comment: "never mind newbies. When are you getting back on that pole?" he asked, with a cheeky wink.
You raised your brows at him but couldn't hide the shade of pink your cheeks started turning. "Coz' I work the bar", you answer, not sure from where his comment came.
He stood up, changing the music to a different song. "Well, you're wasted behind a bar. You're one of the best dancers I know" he said, seductively holding out his hand to you. Again, this was something Sweetpea wouldn't dare do prior, even when drunk. But right now he was using it to fuel his actions he'd denied himself for so long.
You took his hand, unsure what was going on his head. He clumsily tugged you, trying to dance. You almost fall over his giant feet, but he caught you in his arms. For the next hour or so the pair of you danced, laughed, and finished Sweet pea’s bottle of vodka, as well as almost one of your own. You were happy; it was just like old times, minus Fangs and Toni.
Sweetpea had spent the past hour building up the courage to make his move even though he didn't exactly know what that was yet. He poured the last of the alcohol into glasses, watching y/n shake her hips, arms over her head. He watched intently as she turned, showing him a full view of her ass. He bit his lips, watching her move as sway. He was holding on to what little restraint he had to not go over and grab it. He smiled as she turned to face him, her eyes were glassy and bright with a smile to match. The song changed, and to his delight it was a slower, sexier one.
He came over close, putting his hands on your hips, moving with your rhythm. Although he'd done this before, something this time felt different. Maybe it was the way he was staring in to your eyes, or the wolfish smirk, which looked  like he was planning something. Or maybe the way it all made you feel. Your heart pound against your chest, your breathing had quickened. Just like putty in his hands.
Sweetpea thought it was now or never. He lifted his hand to your chin, tilting it up as he bent down to capture your lips with his. They were soft, as you always imagined they would be. For a second, you kissed him back, enjoying the thing you had craved for years. His hand, still on your hip, tightened, pulling you closer to him. His kiss deepened when you grabbed his shirt.
You both pulled away. Your mind was hazy with a mix of thoughts running through it at the same time. A few seconds on your head felt like eternity. All your wants here in your hands, yet some rational voice in your head reminded you of his recent break up.
Was this all it was, Sweetpea getting over Josie? Were you his rebound? If so, how will it affect your friendship afterwards? You'd rather not destroy the connection you had, for one night of everything you ever dreamed.
Sweetpea smiled, happy, until he studied your shell-shocked face. He was unable to read whether you liked it or not. A bit worried he moved in for a second kiss, the moment his lips touched he could feel you pushing him away. He took a step, looking confused. "We shouldn't do this", you said, in a low voice.
You saw him tense up, his jaw clenched, as well as his fists. It was only the look in his eyes that showed the sadness he was feeling. "Why?" he asked, through gritted teeth. His tone wasn't angry like he looked.
You swallow hard, partly for not believing what you were saying, wanting to just run back and kiss him again. "You've just split with Josie. I don't want to be your rebound girl. There are enough Southside sluts you can use for that", you say, trying to sound kind in hopes that he'd see your point. "I care about you enough to not let us wreck our friendship like this", you add.
The F-word was like a knife to his chest. You said it, proving his original thoughts, You'd never love him like he loves you. He nodded, not sure what to say, nor trusting his voice not to crack. Turning to finish his drink, he mumbled a weak apology before getting his jacket to leave.
You told him not to leave as he opened the door, but he just gave you a half-smile before walking out. When the door shut, you collapse on the couch, silent tears run down your face as you cradle a cushion. Your heart was screaming, "what have you done?"; your head still trying to think if it was the right thing to do. You went to bed thinking out of all the times you imagined kissing Sweetpea, you'd never imagined it ending with you crying alone.
Sweetpea wasn't feeling much better. He walked out the trailer park, your words running in his head. "Why did I have to kiss her?", he asked himself aloud before punching a beat-up street sign. The first punch felt good, so he hit it again and again until his stamina started to wear. His knuckles were grazed and cut. He opened and closed his fingers, the pain now noticeable. Sinking to the floor, his head in his knees, he finally broke down.
You didn't leave your trailer all of Sunday, not wanting to face the world after the kiss went wrong. However, on Monday, you had to work. Working meant the possibility of running in to Sweetpea. You wanted to see him, but didn't know what to say after pushing him away. The thought of it made you cringe, still regretting your actions.
Outside you can hear the buzz coming from within the bar. Maybe work was a good idea. If it's busy, you won't have time to think. You walked though the door, the first person you saw was him. It didn't help Sweetpea being one of the tallest in there, standing at six-feet three inches.
He saw you walk inside. Turning back to the pool table, he hit his ball with more force than necessary. He looked up seeing you head to the hatch near to bar, dumping your bag. The sounds of Toni's protest made him look back. "I don't know what's wrong with you today, but if you keep hitting balls like that, you're gonna crack one", she moaned.
He didn't answer her, just took his next shot; it was softer than the last, but the sound of the hit was anything but calm. To add more annoyance to his mood, Cheryl had to open her mouth: "Why's he throwing a fit after my girl, Josie, dumped his ass?", in a sassy remark.
Annoyed, he growled:  "I'm not throwing anything. It was a summer fling. Summer is over now. I couldn't care that it is over", he yells, unconvincingly. Right now he wasn't bothered what they all thought, as long as they didn't know the truth.
Fangs asked what happened but Sweetpea ignored the question, focusing on the game which he was in the middle of. When he didn't answer, Cheryl took delight in spilling the gossip to Fangs. He tried ignoring them but Cheryl's voice was hard to block out, especially when she said things like: "Josie was slumming it with him. A last bit of fun before New York", and "becoming a star, she had to drop the dead weight". With each comment his knuckles got tighter and tighter around his cue.
You walked over with a tray of drinks Toni had ordered. You asked Hogeye to take it, but he wouldn't. The closer you got, the more you heard Cheryl’s comments, basically saying that he wasn't good enough.
On the best of days you didn't like Cheryl; she's loud, obnoxious, and full of herself. You only tolerated her because of Toni's and Jughead's relationships with her, but right now you were struggling to keep your cool.
You could tell Sweetpea was struggling too, his face was like thunder, his knuckles as white as rocks. You wanted to go and tell him that it's okay, to ignore her, but the way he looked at you made you decide against it. You placed the tray down giving Pea a small smile, but he didn't return it. You wished it were because of Cheryl, but knew deep down it was a knock to your friendship.
"Well I have been telling her all summer that she's better off without him", you heard Cheryl say. That was it, you couldn't take any more of her slating him. You span around to face the venomous redhead. "Who the fuck do you think you are?" you snap.
She looked at you with her faux shook, "excuse moi?" she asked in her fake and bitchy way.
You stepped closer so she couldn't mistake you this time. "You heard me. How dare you come here making out he's not good enough." Your arm shot up, pointing at Sweetpea. "He's the nicest, funniest guy going. Your diva-slut mate wasn't slumming it, he's the realest guy that fake bitch will ever have. If you think she was, what does that say about you and MY girl?" This time you gesture towards Toni who was now walking back from the bathroom, unaware as to why her mate and girlfriend looked like they were about to come to blows.
Sweetpea watched you go off at Cheryl, a mix of happy and hurt, listening to you defend him. The argument in front of him faded as he was lost in his own trail of thoughts, only broken when he saw Cheryl slap y/n. That was after you had shoved her back, hard. He dropped his cue, but before it had even touched the floor, she punched Cheryl back.
Both girls attacked each other. Toni dragged Cheryl away, while Sweetpea took you out back to cool off, mainly because he was the only one strong enough to drag you out the bar and handle the kicks or hits that landed his way; something neither of you were a stranger to, what with the past bar fights and scraps.
You paced outside, a string of insults at Cheryl coming from your mouth. Sweetpea just watched you in silence, not knowing if he should walk back inside or not. He also wanted to know why you went off like that too. Yes, you'd had fights before, never having started one like that though. When you finally finished ranting, he asked "what was all that about?"
"What? She's vile, and after hearing her talk shit about you... like you're nothing, made my blood boil. Plus, it's about time someone gave her a nose job", you shout back, still angry from the small fight. "The bigger question is: why did you just stand there, and let her talk trash about you in your own place?", you ask, folding your arms.
He shrugged his shoulders in reply, "why bother? It's Blossom, she talks trash about everything; not something to get worked up over. Ignoring her hurts her more", he said, hoping you'd buy his excuse.
You didn't. You knew him better: the sly look to the side, the way he slid his hand down the back of his head. His signals. You took a step forward.
"Yeah that might be true, but there is something you're not saying", you point out.
He doesn't look at you, keeping his eyes to the ground he mumbles, "nothing". He goes to turn away back inside, when you grab his arm. He stopped, his body tense, still not turning back to look at you. So instead, you walked in front of him.
When he finally looked at you, the hurt was visible in his eyes; the same look he gave you when he left that night, the same eyes he had when you entered the bar, and when you first brought the drinks over.
"I've known you for as long as I can remember. I know something's wrong, and you'd normally tell me what's on your mind. Now please stop looking at me like I killed your dog", you plead.
"She's right", he says, whispering. Your brows crossed; you couldn't believe your ears. Was he really saying that he believed those things? "what do you mean?", you asked confused.
"Cheryl, that bitch. She's right about me: I'm not good enough! Tell me something that wasn't a lie! I am trailer trash, a worthless gang member; no real money or goals", he shouted back, releasing his pent-up anger he'd held in all night.
You pushed him hard. "Look. Josie thinks she's the next Beyoncé. You don't need a girl like that. You're more than ten times good enough for girls like Josie and Cheryl, for that matter. You deserve someone who see how incredible you are Pea, someone who will love you the way you are", you say, hoping he'd listen and believe you. You meant every word and wanted to show him.
He snorted and rolled his eyes at you. "I couldn't care about Josie; I never had any real feeling for her. She was something to take my mind off someone else. I wasn't good enough for too, so there's no point trying to make me feel better", he stated with a raised voice. By the time he said the first something his tone lowered and wavered.
You wanted to tell him you weren't lying. What you said was how you felt, how you wish you hadn't denied his kiss, and most importantly who the girl was. But none of that came out. The most your brain mustered was: "she's an idiot".
Sweetpea passed you. "Yes you are", he whispered to himself, not realising you'd heard it. You turned around so fast it could have given you whiplash.
"What did you say?", you asked.
Sweetpea froze. He didn't know what to say. He didn't think it could hurt anymore than being rejected, so he decided to tell you, and suffer now rather than let it drag on as it had.
"You! You rejected me. The one person I loved more than anyone. I could deal with being friends for so long, but no matter what, you would be on my mind. I knew you were too good for me, so I tried sleeping with other girls. I started a fling with Josie but none of them made me feel the way you do. I thought, well nothing else worked, so maybe just coming to tell you... but I couldn't see how, so I just kissed you. I was right, I you didn’t want me too.”
He didn't mean to say as much as he did, but once he started, it all just came out. He looked at you, when you didn't speak, seeing a smirk on your face, almost like you were holding in a laugh. "Oh, now you're gonna laugh at me. Reject then laugh"
You put a hand on his chest, shaking your head. "I'd never laugh at you and I'd never reject you because you're not good enough. I did it to protect my own feelings. I couldn't be a rebound. I love you too much for it to be a one-time thing", you say with a smile.
It took a second or two for your words to sink in. His eyes widened "did you just say...?" but never finished.
"I love you, yes" you say for him. "I always have, Pea, but never thought you liked me. Let's face it, I'm no Josie, nor the type you normally go for", you say, hearing how weird it came out.
He brought his face in close to yours, cupping your cheek in his hand. "No, you're better", he said before kissing you. When it ended, Sweetpea smiled. You looked up at him, seeing the joy. "If I do it again, you're not gonna say no this time", he joked.
You shook your head, leaning in for a second kiss, proving to him you would never reject or push him away again. This one was more passionate than the first. He held you close, one hand on your back, the other in your hair. You wrap yours around his neck, tugging on the hair your fingers reach.
When he felt the small pull, he deepened the kiss, his lips moved in sync faster and harder, but with a tenderness too. When he pulled away, you felt a little breathless. "Wanna get out of here?" you say, biting your lip to remember the feel of his.
"Thought you were working?" he asked; giving you a devilish smirk, knowing perfectly well neither of you were going back inside.
"Nar, we can feed Hogeye some line like I needed to calm down after that Blossom bitch. Hooking up with a sexy Serpent was just an added bonus", you giggle. You walked off towards his bike. He slipped his arm around your waist. He couldn't believe his dreams had come true. His only regret? That he'd not said anything sooner.
Holidate - Part One
Pairing: Sweet Pea x Reader
Words: 3000ish
Warnings: Overbearing parents, alcohol
Summary: Tired of being alone on holidays, Sweet Pea and Y/N decide to be each other’s plationic plus-ones all year round. What could go wrong?
Notes: I’m super late posting this and I feel awful about it!! I just couldn’t decide how I wanted it to go and ended up rewriting it three times🤦🏻‍♀️
Tumblr media
“No Mom.” Y/N pinches the bridge of her nose, irritation seeping into her words. There’s already a dull ache drumming behind her temples and she hasn’t even made it home yet. “I’m not using this as an excuse because I’m running late.”
“Well I simply can’t just drop everything and come get you, I’ve got to stuff the Turkey and cut the vegetables and-“ She lets her Mother’s voice drowned out into background noise with a frustrated sigh on her end.
She hates Christmas, she thinks. Hates the decorations, the songs, the cheer. Every last bit. Nothing’s been the same since the truth came out about Hal and-
“Is Jug there?” She cuts her own thoughts short, desperate not to think of her Dad and all the things he’s done right now.
“Of course Forsyth is here!” Y/N can almost see Jug flinch at the correction and bites back a laugh. “But him and Betty have already opened a bottle of wine.”
“Can you just ask him for the number of his Dad’s garage please?” Another five minutes of Alice rambling on passes before Jughead’s voice appears on the other end with a joyful ‘Merry Christmas’ and a direct contact to someone who might be able to help.
She thanks him quickly, hanging up before she can even finish saying goodbye, so he doesn’t have a chance to hand the phone back. And as she leans against the car behind her, the same car that had given up on her just as she passed the town sign, she dials the number and hopes she’ll make it home in time for dinner.
Otherwise, she might never hear the end of it.
-
“Again, in English?” Y/N cocks an eyebrow at him, the string of words he’d just said sounding almost foreign in her head.
 She doesn’t mean for it to sound as rude as it does, but she can’t help it. She’s tired, exhausted even, not to mention cold. The snow fall had picked up five minutes after she’d called the number Jug had given her and it had taken him, or Sweet Pea as he’d introduced himself, almost 40 minutes to reach her.
But he just laughs it off, smirks before firing it straight back at her. “You aren’t getting anywhere in this car, anytime soon princess.”
“Great!” It’s official. Her mom’s going to kill her and she’ll be blamed for ruining Christmas. She throws her hands up in defeat, kicking a tyre in the process. “Just great!”
“If it makes you feel better, this isn’t how I planned on spending my Christmas Eve either.” He watches her amused, another laugh passing his lips before the sarcastic remark follows, his arms now crossed over his chest and she almost feels guilty.
“I’m sorry for being such an inconvenience.” She throws a false apology at him along with  a fake grin that falls into a frown almost immediately.
“Apology accepted.” She’s scowling at him now, eyes rolling back but he simply ignores it, happy to keep winding her up. “Want me to give you a ride somewhere while I tow this back?”
“Only on one condition.” She points a finger over her shoulder towards his trunk, the radio still on loud. “We find a station that isn’t playing Christmas music.”
“Hey, it’s either Mariah Carey, or you walk Sweetheart.” He shrugs, walking backwards, watching her make the choice.
He can’t help but laugh again when she sighs and runs to the passenger seat, desperate to seek shelter from the snow.
-
10 minutes after Sweet Pea kindly drops her off at her childhood home, Y/N finds herself still on the porch out front, mentally preparing herself for what’s about to come.
She sucks in a breath. Two, three. And with a fake smile so sickly sweet it makes her stomach hurt; she lets herself in.
Polly’s the first to spot her, catches her the minute she walks through the door and pulls her into a hug before she can even drop her bags. She can’t help but sink into the embrace, it’s always nice to see her older sister alone like this, but Y/N doesn’t even get the chance to ask her how she is before the twins descend down the stairs and push past them in a blur.
“Juniper put the presents down- Dagwood no!” She feels Polly gently squeeze her hand in a silent way of saying they’ll catch up later before she’s chasing after them, joining an exhausted looking Jason who pauses long enough to wave a quick hello before he resumes pursuit.
She moves further into the house, away from the chaos of the living room and towards the interesting smells wafting from the kitchen. It’s impossible not to hear her Mother barking orders from where she stands over the stove, while Jug and Betty listen to every word, working on the dining table and it’s fixtures like a well-oiled machine.
“Y/N/N you’re here!” Betty looks up with a soft smile but doesn’t dare move from her task and face the wrath of Alice Cooper.
“Finally!” It’s Alice’s turn to look at her now, a perfectly shaped eyebrow arching in distaste as her eyes roam over her middle daughter. “Please tell me you aren’t wearing that to dinner?”
Y/N lets out a breath she didn’t realise she was holding and prepares to fire back when a gentle arm lands around her shoulder with a calming chuckle.
“Oh come on Mom, Y/N looks fine.” Charles plants a quick kiss to her forehead before ruffling her hair and they both laugh. Her brother had always been her saving grace in situations like this, the only one brave enough to stand up for himself and the others, ever the mediator. But not even he was enough to put Alice off her persistent questioning, she was already sick of her Mother’s judgement and they hadn’t even touched on her job or her relationship status yet.
-
“You’ve definitely told them we aren’t officially together, right?” Sweet Pea takes one last, slow drag of his cigarette before stomping it out under his boot. Josie nods at him reassuringly but one look up at the exterior of her parents house has his stomach in knots. “They know we’re just casual?”
“Sweet Pea would you stop?” She playfully pokes at his ribs, but he just sighs and rubs a nervous hand down his face.
He couldn’t help it, that sick feeling rising from the pit of stomach by the second. The idea of spending Christmas with Josie’s family, a girl he’d only been dating for a month, was absolutely terrifying on all levels. But Fangs had ditched him to spend the holidays with his boyfriend in New York, not that he could really blame him, and he had no other family in town so when she originally offered, he’d jumped at the chance of not spending the day alone.
Part of him had regretted it since.
If Sweet Pea thought the outside of house was impressive, with it’s perfectly placed lights and overly decorated windows, it was nothing compared to what was waiting for him on the inside.
Myles and Sierra McCoy welcome them at the front door with bright smiles and open arms that engulf Sweet Pea before he even has the chance to say hello.
Josie joins in, the four of them becoming one big, massive group hug like he’s been part of their family his whole life and not just a stranger potentially only passing through. All three of them squeal in excitement before someone yanks him in doors.
If he had doubts before, he thinks, he’s almost certain he’s in over his head now.
-
Betty gets engaged on Christmas Morning.
Right in front of the Christmas tree, just after the last presents are opened and the twins are happily distracted by a mountain of toys; Jughead drops to one knee and pops the question under twinkling lights.
The minute Betty gasps the word ‘yes’ the family erupts in cheers, fawning over the couple. Of course Alice is already crying, Polly demands to see the ring, while Charles and Jason pat Jug on the back.
Y/N however stays put, her eyes falling down into her mug of spiked coffee that her mom had scolded her over, eyebrows raised over the rim as she knocks it back.
“Aren’t you going to congratulate your sister?” Alice sends her a pointed look, catching her before she can slope off into the peaceful confines of the kitchen.
“Congrats Betts.” She pulls her into a hug and paints on the biggest smile she can muster as she mumbles into her hair. “I’m so happy for you.”
And she is. Her sisters getting everything she’s dreamed of with Jug, of course she’s happy, but it’s hard to ignore the fact that her younger sister will be married before her.
Even Charles has betrayed her this year and invited a date to Christmas dinner leaving her the last single Cooper. And her mom wasn’t prepared to let her forget it anytime soon.
-
Sweet Pea successfully manages to make it through family movie night, forcefully sat between Josie and her mother, hot cocoa in hand and surrounded from all sides. He even grins and bares the series of photo albums that follow, another embarrassing photo of Josie lurking behind every page turn, but he draws the line when the marriage talk starts, declaring he’s suddenly tired and turns to run up the stairs so fast he’s surprised he doesn’t pull something on the way.
Sienna wakes them up on Christmas morning with a soft knock at 8am sharp, wearing a bright red Christmas jumper and holding two more for the both them.
The mere idea of it makes Sweet Pea’s skin itch as much as the material does once he begrudgingly pulls it over his head.
The rest of the morning is spent sipping coffee, watching the three McCoy’s exchanging gifts. He’s too distracted, wondering if it’s still too late to find a way out of the whole thing to even notice Josie standing in front of him until she’s shoved the present right under his nose.
“Merry Christmas my love.” She places it down on his lap and Sweet Pea finds himself wanting the ground to open up and swallow him whole.
“Jose I… I thought we said we weren’t doing gifts?” All three pairs of eyes are now on him, burning their way into his skin and he’s sure he’s never felt embarrassment like it.
“But that was just a joke, right?” He smiles awkwardly when she laughs, but the sound is humourless, and he can already see the anger bubbling behind her eyes. She doesn’t even give him the chance to reply. “What, so I’m good enough to sleep with but you can’t buy me a gift?”
He chokes, shocked by her transparency around her parents while his cheeks redden by the second.
Ten minutes later he’s out on the drive, bags thrown in the back of his truck, scrambling to get away as fast as he can.
-
Christmas Day ends the way it started.
Miserably sat at the kitchen table, sipping on something alcoholic held in her hand.
Polly and Jason had slipped off not long after dinner, taking two sugar high kids and all their loud noises with them. Betty and Jug now sit on one couch, his arms wrapped around her shoulders, her head resting on her chest, content in their own bubble of love while Alice sits on the other, quizzing Kevin Keller, Charles’ surprise date. She’d feel bad for him if she wasn’t already feeling relieved that her Mother’s attention had turned to someone else for five minutes. Her brother sits besides her, topping up a glass of red.
“He seems nice.” Charles hums in response, biting back a laugh. Was she missing a joke? “What?”
“If I tell you something, you can’t tell the others.” A quick eager nod and she’s shuffling closer so he can whisper his secret. “Kev’s just my Holidate.”
She blinks back in shock. “Holidate?”
“Just a date for the holiday, someone to keep Mom off my back.” He shrugs like it’s nothing, like it’s the simplest solution to the problem. He sips his wine while he waits for her to process it. “There’s no strings attached and I don’t have to spend events alone. I’m even heading down to his parents after New Years to return the favour.”
“Thats...” Y/N breathes out, she’s a little envious she hadn’t thought of it herself. “What an idea.”
-
Y/N sinks into a booth at Pop’s Chocklit Shoppe two days later with a sigh of relief, happy to welcome the peace that comes with being away from her family.
She loves them, her siblings, her mother, the twins, of course but it’s exhausting. The intruding questions, the never ending merry go round of pity and interfering. She knows deep down it’s only because they care, but sometimes she wished they’d just leave her alone.
Pops promptly brings her order of curly fries over, with a soft smile and an extra chocolate shake on the side she didn’t order. It’s been two years since she last stepped into the place, yet he still remembers her favourite like it was yesterday.
“It’s good to see you Y/N.” There’s something in his tone that just feels like home and she finds herself welcoming it, it’s been a long time since anything in Riverdale has felt anything close to that, not since the truth about her dad.
Pops doesn’t stick around, a light pat to her shoulder before he’s a retreating form, leaving her to her thoughts. She barely makes it through a fry before someone’s sliding in opposite her.
Sweet Pea pushes the key across the table, grinning cheekily as he helps himself to the basket in front of him. She barely knows him and he’s already stealing her food. “One fully functional car.”
“Finally!” She snatched them up, hiding them
in her bag and he can see the tension practically melting from her shoulders. “Now I can get out of the hell hole.”
“Christmas went that well? He asks, curiosity peaked.
“You could say that.” She presses herself further into her seat, huffing as she rubs the palm of her hands against her jeans. The anxious look in her eyes tells him that what ever she might say next won’t necessarily make sense and she’s a little embarrassed by it. “My sister got engaged.”
“To FPS son right?” He vaguely recalls his boss proudly telling anyone who would listen that morning. “And that’s a bad thing?”
“She’s my younger sister, and now, as I’m about to be the only official unmarried Cooper daughter my mom has even more of an excuse to interfere in my love life.” The words just slip out and she finds part of her gladly confessing her thoughts to a virtual stranger instead of keeping them in. He smiles in a way that tells her he gets it.
“Yeah well, bet you a chocolate shake mine was worse.” He ignores the glare she sends him when he innocently brings her existing milkshake to his lips and continues when she says nothing. “I spent it with someone I’ve been dating for four weeks and her parents.”
She almost chokes on a curly fry. “You got serious that quick?”
“Of course not, and we both knew it.” She stares at him like he has two heads, he knows she can’t quite fit ‘causal relationship’ and ‘family Christmas’ together so he does it for her. “Didn’t want to spend the day alone so I took her up on the offer. Cue overbearing parents, the cringest matching jumpers and the ultimate gift exchange where I got her nothing because we agreed no presents.”
“Aren’t you old enough to know by now that no gifts definitely means get her a gift?” She laughs when he rolls his eyes.
“Ended with her kicking me out before dinner.” She shakes her head, laughs again as she calls him tragic and a tiny part of him agrees. “And now I’m officially dateless for New Year’s Eve.”
“Thanks for reminding me I have to come back in a few days to attend Riverdale’s Annual Blossom New Years Eve Party alone for the second year running.” She wrinkles her nose in disgusted, unprepared to have her friends on her back as well as her family, and ends up missing the way his eyebrows raise in surprise.
“You know Toni and Cheryl?”
“T’s been my best friend longer than I can remember and Cheryl’s brother is married to my sister, guess you could say I know them pretty well.” She tilts her head to the side, eying him slowly, like she suddenly sees him in a different way. “How’d you know them?”
“Guess you could say I spend more time than I should at the Wyrm.” The mention of Toni’s bar lights up her face. “Plus Toni’s been a really good friend to me since I got here, I was actually meant to be taking Josie to their party.”
“I think I know a way to solve our little problem.” A plan suddenly forms in her head, he doesn’t know whether to be worried or not as he watches the smile on her face widen. “Sweet Pea how would you like to be my Holidate this Friday?”
“Your holi-what?”
My older sister had a thing going on with my crush! I was head over heels for the Serpent boy by the name of Sweet Pea. My sister knew this and decided to take him for herself anyway! They weren’t official, but it was very clear to everyone around that they had something going on. I was so pissed at her and I knew as soon as I had my chance to hurt her like she hurt me I’d take it.
A few months later Josie had moved on to Archie. She broke Sweet Pea’s heart and I was going to be the one to put it back together. I got in my car one night and headed to the new Serpent’s place, tent city. I parked and everyone was looking at me as I got out. Jughead smiled at me and started heading over to me.
“Y/N, what are you doing here?” He asked.
“Where’s Sweets?” I asked, ignoring his question.
“In his trailer, why?” He asked. Once again I ignored him and headed towards his trailer. I didn’t bother knocking, just walked right inside.
“What the hell are you doing here?” He asked and narrowed his eyes.
“I heard what my sister did-”
“And you came here to what? Dig the blade in deeper?” He growled.
“No! I came here to say I’m sorry that she’s such a bitch and doesn’t respect you like you deserve!” I said and he started at me in shocked silence.
“Maybe it’s not my place to be here but I already told her what a bitch she is for what she did and I just wanted to make sure you were alright. If you really want I’ll leave.” I said.
“No, come here.” He said and patted a spot on his bed. I smiled at him as I sat down.
“You really don’t seem that upset.” I thought out loud.
“Truth be told, I’m not.” He said with a smirk and I looked at him confused.
“Why not?” I asked.
“Because, if I’m being honest I was using her just as much as she was using me.” He said and I was even more confused.
“You were using my sister?” I asked and he nodded.
“The two of us made an agreement.” He said and laid back on his bed.
“An agreement?” I pressed further.
“We agreed to make it seem like we had a thing going on so we could get the people we really liked to notice us.” He said and my heart sank a bit.
“Oh… did it work?” I asked and he sat up with a smirk.
“You tell me.” He whispered and kissed me. My eyes widened as he wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me close to him. It took me a moment to recover from the shock, but once I did I kissed him back with just as much passion as he was giving me. When we pulled apart he looked at me with an even bigger smirk on his face.
“I’d say it worked.” He chuckled.
“What just asking me on a date was too easy?” I asked as I shoved him.
“I could ask you the same question, Josie told me about your little crush.” He said and I glared at him.
“So you thought the best idea was to fake a thing with my sister to show you liked me?” I asked, getting slightly annoyed.
“Actually it was her idea, I only went along with it because you never actually seemed to show any interest in me.” He said and I stared at him.
“You are an idiot Sweet Pea.” I said and he smirked.
“But, I could be your idiot, if you want.” He said snaking his arms around my waist and pulling me close to him once again.
“Take me on a proper date, then we’ll talk.” I said getting up and walking to his door.
“I’ll expect you to pick me up at eight tomorrow night.” I said with a smirk and left. When I got in my car my phone vibrated and I checked my texts.
‘Eight it is, dress night ;)’ I smiled to myself and started driving home. I was still pissed at my sister for her stupid plan, but it did work.
Just a Couple of Notes (Sweet Pea x Reader)
Hello friends! Sorry for the inactivity, I've had a lot going on and have been dealing with mental health but I haven’t forgotten you! I was so happy to come on today and find that someone has messaged me a request, my first one yay - so I should get that out soon! This is a lil idea I had late one night, I didn’t really know I was going with it but wanted to get something out and actually kinda like it!! (just a warning bc the plot is a bit naff lol) Love you all sm - stay safe and healthy xxx <3
Word Count - 2300
Warnings - umm not that I can think of! An odd plot maybe? Too fluffy? Very OOC Pea?
Summary - you write notes to SP when you start work at Pops, it’s not long before he responds. But then there’s a bump in the road!!
-----
You're move to Riverdale was a quick decision made by your parents in Autumn when a new job opportunity arose. Within a week you were packed up and moving to the town leaving behind your friends, other family members and the quiet life you had gotten used to.
Riverdale was an odd place to you. You were used to the comforts and quirks of your hometown and for that reason your attention felt drawn to the awkwardness and divide and, what seemed to be lurking beneath the surface in your new neighbourhood.
It was about a week after your move that you had noticed the 'help wanted' sign in the window of Pops and were pushed to apply by Jughead who you had met the first night you had come to town. Besides Jug, you kept yourself to yourself, limiting your interactions to with your family and customers. Of course, it wasn't for others lack of trying, often Betty or one of Jughead's other friends would talk to you.  However, you knew that when you were old enough, you would move back to your hometown so didn't want to create too many ties.
That all changed when Sweet Pea started frequenting the diner.
He had come in asking for Jughead before noticing him in the corner and hurrying over. The way he sat with his shoulders hunched over and stony expression was intriguing to you, but you were quick to learn that he was as much of a 'mystery' as you were.
He always wore black in some way, had dog-tags round his neck that you longed to wrap your hand around and a curl on his forehead that you wanted to push back into place. If it wasn't for the few times that you saw him with Fangs and Toni, you would have thought him incapable of feeling joy but the way his face broke into a smile and his laugh carried across the diner was enough to make anyone's heart beat faster.
You were smitten with a boy you didn't know, the boy who was pegged as 'trouble' by Jughead when you asked about him.
Soon your want to know him overtook your want to keep to your solitude and that was when the notes started - that way you could still keep him at a distance.
-----
It was around 8pm on a Sunday that the first instance happened as Sweet Pea came to pay for his groups dinner. You had heard him complaining earlier that evening about how his English teacher was going to fail him if he didn't pass his next test with flying colours and you had subsequently spent your break writing out quotes from the book Jug had mentioned they were studying and exam tips you had found on google.
You passed the napkin to him along with his receipt and quickly left to serve another group (and avoid any embarrassment) missing the look on confusion on his face.
As you finished serving the table you turned back around you met his gaze as he reached the door. He threw you a quick wink and walked out leaving you standing with your heart racing and head spinning.
-----
For you it became common place after that day. Whenever Pea visited the diner, he left with a little note on a napkin that you wrote on your break. The notes ranged from help with school when you had overheard he was struggling to random facts you found or occasionally a cheesy pick up line. If you plucked up the courage to look, you often saw him smiling down at the notes when he thought no one was looking which made it worth it. You didn't expect a response, but it was something fun to do, and although the thought crossed your mind that maybe he it was making him feel awkward, he hadn't told you to stop so you continued.
He didn't respond, until one day he did.
You had just closed up for the night and were cleaning the tables when you noticed a napkin on the table where he had been sitting. You had given him a list of songs to listen to that day, slipped it onto the table as they paid and you hadn't seen anything then so were wondering if Sweet Pea had thought it odd and left the note but as you approached you saw the writing was not as light as yours. It had more of a scrawl to it.
'Don't walk home over the bridge today - Sweet Pea
PS. I like (your favourite band) and I like getting these notes :)'
And that's how your interactions were from that point onwards, he gave you a warning or a place to stay away from and sometimes something personal about him and you gave him a fact or compliment or anything you could think of. It wasn't much but it suited you both and you had had a few conversations with Toni and Fangs about how much he liked you and now a bigger part of you wanted to stay.
That was until Josie came along.
You had met Josie before, a couple of times, but your conversations were always limited to taking her order and the general waitressing 'stuff'. She seemed nice enough, but you hadn't seen her with a serpent before and since you were home schooling you didn't even know she knew them (besides Jug).
She sat with Pea for hours. Just the two of them. They spoke in whispers and you often caught at least one of them sending you quick glances. You did not want to infringe on them so let one of the other waitresses serve them both ignoring her questions on why there was a sudden change.
You thought back to all the longing looks, all the flirting both in notes and over your waitressing and of the fact it all was or at least seemed reciprocated.
That was the first time since you had first served him that he left without a note.
-----
He didn't come in again for another week or so. Everything was getting on top of you and your plan to move back 'home' was once again in your mind despite weeks of not speaking to your 'friends' or thinking of your life before Riverdale.
You felt odd. You knew that you had no ties to this place besides Jug but one part of you thought your plans to move away were based on the actions of Sweet Pea rather than your lack of connections.
You knew that you had no real relationship with the boy, it was only notes passed back and forth. You couldn't claim to know him or be his friend as you hadn't exactly spoken much but one part of you felt drawn to him and hurt that he didn't feel that too - he would rather step out with Josie.
If looks could kill, in that moment, both Sweet Pea and Jughead would be dead from each other’s stares. Jug was your confidant on all Sweet Pea matters. He had listened to you gush about how adorable Sweets was and in the last week had listened to your complaints. He knew that the actions of Sweet Pea may drive you to leave and he desperately did not want you to leave.
So here in the diner at 11pm, glares were thrown towards Pea by Jug who was sat with you whilst you were on your break. And glares were thrown right back in his (or your?) direction by Sweet Pea who had settled in a booth by himself.
You were the only one working that night so knew that you would have to serve him eventually so as your break ended, and Jug left the diner you walked over to him.
'what can I get you?' you said breaking the unsettling silence.
'Just the usual please.'
'And what would that be?' You knew his order. Of course you did. But part of you felt spiteful and hurt and you wanted him to feel that too. But you regretted it immediately when he turned to you with a look of sadness on his face.
'Come on Y/N. You know my order. I've only not been in for a week.' Maybe he was trying to joke to get rid of the tension.
'Yeh maybe I do and maybe in the week you've been MIA, you've forgotten that we don't serve food after 11. So, I'll ask again, what can I get you?'
'Just a chocolate shake please.'
You walked off to make the drink but were pulled back by a strong hand and a falsely strong voice. 'When were you going to mention in one of you notes that you're dating Jughead Jones?'
You scoff. 'When were you going to mention you're dating Josie McCoy?' You pulled your arm out of his grip. And turned to look at him. He looked confused. 'Yanno Sweet Pea, you were here last week with her? Has your memory gone?'
'I'm not dating her.' He splutters out.
'You know what Sweet Pea; I don't care who you're dating or not dating. It was only a couple of notes between us. So, I'll just go make your shake and you can sit here if you want or leave if you would prefer. And when you come back next week I won't be here.' You leave to make his shake but when you come back, he is not there, but a napkin is in his place.
'Sorry - SP'
-----
A couple of days later you were packing all your bags in the back of a rented pickup truck, ready to take a long road trip back to your hometown with Jughead. When he arrived, you said goodbye to your family and jumped in the passenger’s seat, Jug had agreed to take the first shift.
You made light conversation and sung along to the radio for about 20 minutes before you noticed that Jug was taking a wrong turning.
'You're going the wrong way.'
'Y/N, please don't hate me. He made me do this.'
'Okay Jug, what's going on, you're scaring me.'
'You know you said that Josie and Sweet Pea had been in Pops? Well, it's not what it seems. Just listen to him yeh?'
'Jughead Jones where am I?' He guided you out of the truck and led you down a path into what appeared to be a small forest. 'you better not be murdering me Jones.' You joked. 'I was going to road trip with you and all.' He rolled his eyes and remained silent.
He had led you to a clearing, told you to wait there and then ran off.
'Jones.' you shouted. 'Jones, come back here. Stop messing this isn't funny.'
'Did you know that the inventor of the frisbee was cremated and turned into a frisbee when he died.'
You jumped and turned around, shocked at the new voice in the quiet forest. 'Sweet Pea? What are you doing here?'
'Did you know that 12 bodies were found in Benjamin Franklin’s basement? You wrote that when i was studying for History.' You looked down and saw in his hands a pile of papers. Napkins.
'Here's one of my favourites - Do you know how much a polar bear weighs? Enough to break the ice. I'm Y/N. That was one of the first notes you gave me, remember?' You nod. 'Well thing is, it was never 'only a couple of notes' to me. I really like you, or I think I like you from what you've said about yourself in the notes. Just tell me now, did I read it wrong? I know you're leaving, I just wanted you to know.' His voice remained strong throughout, but his eyes did not hold the same confidence.
'What about Josie?'
'What about Jughead?' he retorts but quickly breaks into a smile and shows he was joking. 'Me and Josie aren't a thing. We used to be. I really liked her, but she didn't like me and then last week she came and told me that she suddenly did. But I told her I have a thing for this amazing girl who knows too many pickup lines and facts about dinosaurs.'
'really?'
He cleared his throat and looked down at a piece of paper he pulled out of his pocket. 'do you have a band aid?' you look at him confused. 'because i scraped my knee falling for you.'
You break out in a smile and walk closer to him, reaching out to his hands and then running yours up his arms and resting them on his shoulders 'Maybe let's leave the pickup lines to me. What google search found you that one?'
He pulled you closer and wrapped his other hand around your waist. 'I searched -how to get the pretty, witty, lovely waitress to fall for me-.' You giggled and brought your hand to rest on his cheek. You saw pure adoration in his eyes and hoped he saw the same in yours. You lent in and gently placed your lips on his in a quick and innocent kiss. When you pulled back and opened your eyes, he was smiling the brightest smile.
A question came into your mind as you noticed all the napkins strewn across the floor, you looked up with him through your lashes with your head tilted and asked. 'Did you really keep all my notes?'
'Like I said Princess, they are more than just notes to me.'
You felt complete and knew that in a couple of hours you would be unloading all your stuff again back in Riverdale because there really was something to stay for.
Something new (Fangs x Kevin x Moose x male reader)
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Co written with @inhumanshadows
You and Fangs have been dating for a while now when you were transferred to Riverdale High where you met Kevin and Moose and started going out on double dates.
You had discussions in the past with Fangs about being open to a poly relationship so when you both started having feelings for Moose and Kevin it was easy to talk to each other about it
Fangs head was in your lap as you hung out in his trailer when you brought it up to him.
“Whatcha think Fangs? They’re both very cute...”
"You know I'm game," he responds.
Meanwhile Kevin and Moose are having a much more awkward conversation back at Kevin's.
"Kevin do you think Fangs and Y/N are like... Into us?" Moose questions.
"I sure hope so why else would be friends?" Kevin says confused.
“No I mean like into us," Moose reaffirms.
“Moose what are we five? But maybe?” Kevin shrugs.
"Are you okay with that?"
"I know they're polyamorus and relationships come in all forms so why not," Kevin replies.
The next time you guys go on a double date is when you decide to confront them.
"So there's something Fangs and I wanted to talk to you about... We like you guys a lot and well... If you're open to it we'd like to try being more than friends," you tell them.
Kevin and moose share a look and you're afraid you overstepped.
“No pressure guys,” you add, "and look if this made you uncomfortable we can pretend like it never happened."
Kevin squeezes Moose's hand and he nods.
"I think this is something we'd like to explore," Kevin says.
"Great," Fangs smiles.
"And we're not just gonna jump in head first, we'll take baby steps so everyone can figure out how they feel," you assure them.
Moose is still learning to be confident in his sexuality so adjusting to this is more of a struggle for him then it is for Kevin.
For your first official date you invite them all over to your place for movies and pizza so they can be in a more private and relaxed environment.
You’re laying on Fangs while Moose is leaning against Kevin with the movie playing.
You really want it to feel natural so you don’t push, just a nice relaxing night.
The second date you get more physical gestures from them, Kevin kisses Fangs on the cheek and Moose holds your hand.
Moose eventually falls asleep against you which Kevin teases him about later making him blush.
You decide to go on separate dates to help build your own dynamics as well, the first night Fangs goes out with Kevin and you go out with Moose, the second night you go out with Kevin and Fangs goes out with Moose
The first solo date with moose was at pops figuring a familiar setting would help his nerves.
He was quiet at first but you got him to open up and he was feeling much more comfortable by the end of the date.
You took Kevin to play mini golf so you could do something active but still be able to get to know each other better.
“So Kev... tell me about you," you say hitting the green ball with your putter down the course.
"Well my mom has been deployed in Afghanistan for the last year and it sucks, my dad just got remarried and now i live across the hall from Josie McCoy and my ex boyfriend is in juvie... You know the usual," he says casually.
“Wow... that’s a lot...”
“What about you?” he asks.
“Oh I’m wanted for murder," you joke.
“What?" He says shocked.
“Kidding,” you tell him.
Kevin texts Moose and makes sure it's okay for him to kiss you and that night when you take him home you kiss him goodnight for the first time.
Later on you and Fangs are in bed talking about how each date went.
"I think Moose is finally starting to open up," Fangs says happily.
"That's good, Kevin and I kissed," you smiled.
"Is he as good of a kisser as he looks," he grins.
"Better."
“Damn,” Fangs says as you put your head on his chest.
“I wonder what kissing moose is like?”
“He’s like a puppy," Fangs chuckles.
"Did you kiss him?" You ask in surprise.
"Maybe" he grins "yeah i did."
"Fangs you sly dog," you laugh playfully hitting your hand on his shoulder.
A few weeks later is when your relationship goes to the next level and you end up giving Kevin a handjob in your car
Kevin came hard and was worried about making a mess.
“Trust me this car has seen its share,” you laugh.
Soon after Moose gave you a blowjob while you were watching a movie at his place
“I’m telling you Fangs those boys are huge and Moose has a very very good mouth,” you smirk.
“I heard you gave Kev a handy in your car,” Fangs
"And when did you hear that?"
"While Kevin was giving me one," he states.
"That's my boy," you smile.
"So do you think it's time to bring up trying penetration?" He asks.
“Maybe... or at least one or two more dates,” you respond.
“Okay.” Fangs kisses you while palming you through your pants.
"Good thing I've got you to take care of me in the mean time… what about sexting?” You ask as you straddle him.
"Take a picture and we'll find out," he grins.
Fangs grabs his phone and snaps a picture of you on top of him still fully clothed and sends it the group chat
Kevin: “fuck!!”
Moose: “damn wish I was there”
With them being into it you go a step further, taking your shirts off and sending another pic with Fangs hands on your ass.
You unbutton fangs jeans and take a pic with your head at his crotch.
You guys then get a photo of Kevin shirtless followed by a photo Moose grabbing himself through his shorts
It’s an ongoing sexting battle until you and Fangs are naked with pillows on your crotches, Moose is in his boxers and Kevin is commando in his wrestling singlet.
You:  “reveal all at once?”
Kevin: 👍
Moose: sounds good
As soon as you send the explicit photo you get the photos of them as well which you and Fangs get off to.
You send one last photo of the aftermath and then one of you and Fangs in the shower.
“See ya tomorrow boys. ;)”
The next day at school is when Kevin and Moose both agree they are ready to go further than just a handjob so you and Fangs plan the very special night at your place that weekend.
You make sure your house is well stocked with supplies and food.
You and Fangs are both more than happy to let Kevin and Moose take the lead and discuss safe words so they feel comfortable.
Kevin and Moose make out first, you and Fangs watching as they work each other up.
You get behind Kevin and remove his jacket while Fangs is practically drooling.
Kevin pulls away from Moose and kisses you, Fangs beginning to palm himself through his jeans.
Kevin runs his hand through your hair, Moose watching tentatively as you take Kevin's shirt off, yours quickly following.
Moose undoes his jeans and starts touching himself, groaning low and deep.
You push Kevin onto his back and kiss down his chest making him moan in time with Moose.
“Why don’t you give Moose a hand Fangs,” you wink at him.
Fangs kisses Moose and strokes his cock while you make your way down Kevin's body until you're tugging his remaining clothes off of him.
Kevin then tugs your pants off and gets smacked in the face by your dick.
“Sorry not sorry Keller,” you chuckle.
Kevin takes your cock in his mouth and the sight makes Moose cum in minutes.
"We haven't even gotten to the best part yet Mason," you mutter, moaning at the sight of his release in Fangs' hand.
Fangs finishes getting undressed and flings his underwear at your face.
“Always a great look for you babe,” he grins.
You laugh and toss them to the floor telling Kevin to get back on the bed while you grab the condoms and lube.
Fangs takes Moose in his mouth and bobs his head to get him hard again.
You come back and toss the condoms on the bed, shaking the lube. “Who wants to fuck me first?”
Kevin voices interest as long as Fangs is okay with it.
“Sure Kevin. But I get to prep his pretty ass.”
Fangs comes over to you and bends you over, wasting no time letting his tongue find your hole.
You’re moaning as his tongue swipes over your hole and Kevin puts your cock in his mouth.
Once you're thoroughly worked up Kevin puts a condom on and gets behind you, easing his cock inside.
“Fuck Kevin!” His thick cock stretches you wide open.
Kevin bottoms out and stays there, “Damn Y/N... your ass feels amazing.”
He makes a steady rhythm and Fangs starts prepping Moose.
You’re moaning with each thrust, “Oh fuck Kev.”
Looking over you see Fangs lay on the bed and Moose sit on his face.
“Enjoy him Moose," you tell him.
Moose quickly learns how expertly Fangs can use his tongue and reaches down to stroke Fangs' cock as he's bouncing on his face.
“Fuck Kevin... look at our boys. They’re working well together... now pound me.”
Kevin eventually makes you cum, Moose cumming for the second time.
When Kevin pulls out of you Fangs grabs a condom and has Kevin laying on his back as he fucks him.
You and Moose cuddle and come down from your highs while watching Fangs fucks Kevin.
“You should ride him Kev,” Moose says.
Kevin rides Fangs until he cums and after he does you jerk Fangs off until he cums too.
You put your mouth on him at the last minute and swallow just like he likes.
You throw the condoms away, doing a quick clean up before all of you fall onto the bed.
“That was fun right?” You ask already knowing the answer.
!PING!
Y/N giggled as soon as she saw the picture Archie had posted, it had been taken a few hours ago at lunch. She hadn't even realised he had taken one, off guard beaming up at Moose as he told the group how the Andrews boy had face planted the turf during football practice. The caption read ‘when you're having a lousy day, i'll try my best to make you smile like an idiot’ and her face lit up at the kind gesture.
Today had been utter shit; Michelangelo had gotten into a fight with one of the neighbourhood cats and lost very badly, Josie picked a fight for no reason in Maths and called her a ‘brain dead bimbo’ in front of everyone, and to top it off she'd overheard Chuck sharing very private, personal details with his friends like they were nothing.
She felt miserable and hopeless, wanting nothing more than for this day to be over already. While the boy wasn't there with her when any of these events happened, he knew as soon as he saw her saddened expression that it was his duty to turn her frown upside down. After an hour of cheesy jokes bad enough to make her father proud, Y/N felt a little bit lighter.
Now, the two sixteen year olds were being blackmailed into making dinner for themselves, Y/N's family and of course Fred too. It wasn't uncommon for this to happen though, since Y/S followed in her mother's footsteps when it came to cooking abilities, and they felt bad for always making Y/D cook. So the blonde had rolled up the sleeves of her grey sweatshirt and pulled her hair into a messy bun, while Archie gathered all the ingredients for the perfect steak dinner.
"Okay," Y/N huffed out, putting her arms up and looking over the boy's broad shoulders to see the recipe, "what's the first step, Nigella?"
Two frustrating and hilariously messy hours later, the two teens were serving their masterpieces. Y/N showered while waiting for the steak to cook, her hair now in damp ringlets as she wore a black concert t-shirt and a burgundy pair of gym shorts.
She carefully placed the piping hot plates in her mother and sisters respective places, returning for her own and Archie's as the boy brought out ones for their fathers. Y/D and Fred sat at the heads of the table, with Y/S and Y/M on one side and Archie and Y/N on the other. It had been that way since the very beginning, the teen's chairs always closer than necessary.
The radio played hits from the eighties and nineties in the background; the atmosphere warm and cozy as the group began tucking into their gourmet meals happily. Conversation flowed easily as usual, soft smiles mirrored around the room in the amicable scene.
"How's school been today?" Y/D asked casually as he piled food onto his fork dangerously high, it disappearing into his mouth seconds later.
"Shit." Y/N answered with a shrug and a wry smile as she copied her dad's actions and stuffed her face. Her eyes closed for a moment to fully appreciate the perfection of her cooking, but in that moment she missed the sad look the redhead threw her way. Everyone at the table was aware her high school experience wasn't rose tinted, and she was never able to lie to her family about it.
"McCoy's girl again?" Y/S asked defensively, rolling her eyes in annoyance as she even brought up said name.
"It's no biggie, honestly. She's just holding a grudge against me for something that literally happened over a year ago. She'll have to let go of it sooner or later." The y/h/c girl ended the conversation, continuing to fill her mouth with copious amounts of food. While her parents had moved on to talk about another subject, Archie kept his eye on her and she knew it.
Y/N didn't hate being pitted per se, but she couldn't stand to be watched by loving eyes when the person those eyes belong to wishes to fix her problems for her. Knowing that's what his mind was preoccupied with, the girl turned to Archie sharply and began chewing with her mouth wide open, sticking her tongue out for emphasis.
The redhead gagged and couldn't stop himself from snorting in laughter and Y/N took this as her queue to close her mouth. Not truly phased by the grotesque sight, Archie returned it for just a second, leaving them both giggling. Finishing the mouthful, she bumped shoulders with the boy, keeping her head resting there for a few moments as she spoke with a grin, "You've already done enough, stop making my issues yours. We do everything together anyway, leave me this little slither of sardonic sanity, okay?"
She sat up straight again and sent Fred a wink upon finding his knowing grin slung in their direction. Looking around the table, three other faces have the exact same looks, and Y/N only rolled her eyes, "Can we have just one family dinner without planning our wedding? For all you guys know we could both be gay and just use each other for style advice."
Y/D scoffed, eyeing up his daughter with amusement, "You're not gay."
"What?!" The blonde's cutlery clanged against her plate as she threw her arms up in exasperation, "I could be!"
Y/M cackled her usual laugh and rolled her eyes, chiming in, "Darling, have you seen your wardrobe?"
"Cherry and I share clothes!" Y/N defended herself, only halfheartedly as she knew the conversation was completely false, but still stood her ground.
"Yeah, well, she has a blue-haired girlfriend and you only share dresses when you're going out because you're the same size. I'm pretty sure she'd rather be dead than wear a pair of your heels." Y/S interjected and received her sister's glare with a smug grin.
Archie silently ate his food, but soon his best friend turned to him, "I could be bi, right? Like Elizabeth Olsen and Sebastian Stan both own my life."
"You can be whatever you want to be, Tiger." Taking a sip of his drink, the boy continued, "But, to be fair, have you seen The Bronze? Like if there's someone I'd turn for, it'd be Sebastian Stan."
"See!" Y/N raised her arms in the way Will Smith had when showing the world his beautiful wife, "This is why he's my best friend!"
They high-fived with matching grins and the bubbly atmosphere carried on until Fred left for the night, Archie staying over in lieu of helping with unfinished homework. After washing up, the three teenagers headed up to bed.
But before the elder Y/L/N daughter fully entered her room, she swung back on the doorframe and locked eyes with her younger sister in a deadpan manner, "I haven't slept properly in three days, please have the decency to wait until I'm asleep before you start boning, thanks."
Y/N swivelled in the direction of her room, cheeks dusted pink at the insinuation. She closed her curtains and headed straight for bed, exhausted by everything the day forced upon her shoulders. Finding her phone, she sent a round of goodnight streaks and scrolled through Instagram before the bed dipped and a tuft of red hair came into view.
"It's only just gone ten, you lightweight." He bumped her shoulder with his bare one, soon copying her actions with his own phone but not finding anything nearly as interesting.
"Well, I fancy wasting time on my phone instead of doing anything productive, problem?" The blonde hummed, not turning away from the device holding her attention. A few moments of silence and mindless scrolling passed before Y/N's phone was ripped from her grasp and set down on the bedside table.
"Yeah, I do have a problem with that, Tiger." Archie grinned at her clueless expression, climbing on top of her, either elbow caging her face in his hold. A light pressure appeared between her thighs with a small twitch, forcing a giggle from the girls lips. She hooked her thighs around his waist and linked her feet together, pulling his entire being closer to her own.
"Oh," Y/N forgot all about whatever had been on her phone screen moments ago, hands now brushing through Archie's fiery locks, "and what would that be."
The boy dipped his head without warning, lightly pushing her jaw to the left to expose her soft neck. His tongue slowly ran from her collar bone to the bottom of her ear, kissing small pecks along her jawline until their lips met. Y/N smiled into the kiss, lifting herself up while pulling his torso closer into her own. Her hips moved on their own accord, needing more friction to scratch an itch only his mouth could fix.
Archie broke the kiss, looking down at the petite girl with lustful eyes as his hand found her neck once more, "There's so many better ways for us to waste time than on our phones. But I'm going to need you to stay quiet for me, Tiger. Can you do that for me?"
As the words left his lips, his index finger lifted from her neck and pressed against her own. Y/N couldn't help licking a stripe down the back of it, taking the digit into her mouth and letting it drop with a popping sound. She nodded her head in agreement with an innocent smile and wide expectant eyes.
Archie watched her for a moment in awe, giving her throat a small squeeze before moving down her body. He lifted her ‘All Time Low’ t shirt up, planting wet kisses from her bra line to the waistband of her lycra shorts.
“You okay?” The boys soft voice sounded through the room, any dominance dropped from his tone but ready to be picked up if he got the right answer. Y/N sat up, planting each hand on either side of his face and pressed her lips to his nose lightly.
She grinned down at him, “I’m sure.” Her excited tone couldn’t be missed, and without hesitation she hooked her fingers into the shorts and pulled them away from her velvety skin, flinging them to the floor carelessly. Archie felt another grin filled kiss skim his forehead, a small hand carding through his hair as the girl relaxed back into the plush bedding.
Y/N closed her eyes in content as hot breath traced her thighs, up and down in a slow rhythm, leaving goosebumps of anticipation in its wake. Her hips rutted upwards needing some kind of contact, but Archie’s firm hand pushed her back into the mattress and held her in place. He settled with his legs hanging off the edge of the double bed, pushing her legs to rest open. The girl resisted the urge to squeeze her legs together, desire overcoming her body but submission overpowering her mind.
Archie’s lips left trails down her silky thighs, plotting temporary marks by nipping and sucking at the delicate skin. He enjoyed feeling her squirm under his touch, showing how much she needed his touch. This was more than just helping each other get off, there was a raw urgency and need within them for only one another. He licked around the edge of her pink thong, another unintentional jut from her hips pushing him closer to her heat as a whine escaped her lips.
The redhead’s hand moved from her stomach to her neck while he forced her to look down at him, “No noise, kitten. Okay?” He warned and Y/N’s bottom lip curled under her teeth as she sent him another nod. With that, her underwear, if it could be even called that, was pulled from her body and joined her shorts on the cool wooden floor moments later.
Archie carried on teasing the girl, licking down her inner thighs and getting dangerously close to what her body was pleading for, but he enjoyed watching her struggle to stay silent and it was far too easy to bring her to the edge by barely doing anything.
“Please.” Y/N’s voice begged with a shaky moan she’d tried so hard to keep in. The boy smirked up at her before giving her exactly what she wanted, feeling her fingers tighten in his hair as he latched onto her clit. But as soon as the pleasure started, it ceased once more.
“You want me to carry on, little girl?” Archie asked in a low tone, watching his best friend panting in want from the smallest of actions. “Want me to make you feel good?”
“Yes, please, Arch. Please.” The girl nodded again, never needing a release so badly in her life before.
Archie’s tongue lapped small circles around the bundle of nerves, pausing again to elicit a small noise of bliss, “I need you to stay quiet for me though, Tiger. Don’t want Y/S finding out what a slut her little sister is.”
In any other circumstance, Y/N would slap someone for calling her something like that, and Archie would never let the word slip from his lips. But in this moment, with his tongue skilfully taunting her clit and a finger dipping inside her wet pussy, it sent a wave of pleasure and praise through her entire body.
He was her drug, one touch and Y/N was completely intoxicated, whatever he wanted is what she wanted and there wasn’t a single thing she would say no to.
It didn’t take long for Y/N to reach the edge of release, with Archie’s fingers pulsing inside her while switching from licking at her clit and sucking on it with his tongue swirling her into a trance of ecstasy. He wanted to play with her more, keep her tilting on the edge until she couldn’t handle it any longer.
But Y/N had a difficult day, he could tease her any time he wanted, for now he just wanted to give her one reason for this day to be good. With that, he tactfully curled his fingers bringing them in and out of her hot core, not stopping his mouth from all but assaulting her over stimulated clit. Her hips buckled once again and this time Archie didn’t stop her, then they began rutting back and forth riding his face until her body couldn’t take any more
“Oh god.” Y/N whined in a hushed tone, her body convulsing in euphoria she finally toppled over the edge of her climax. Archie pressed a final kiss to her clit, resting his head on her spread thighs for a few moments as they both caught their breath.
The girl giggled as Archie appeared back at her side, pressing her lips to his not caring about the taste of her lingering in the air.
“You okay?” He whispered, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and pulling her under the duvet with him. Her head rest in the crook of his neck, leg over is stomach and hand lightly tracing patterns over his muscular chest.
“More than okay, pretty boy.” Y/N hummed into the dark room with a bright smile adoring her features. “Arch?”
He mumbled an agreeable response, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. Archie’s hand found her thigh and he gave it a small squeeze, keeping his hand there to hold her close.
“Can we play a game?” The girl sounded apprehensive yet excited with her words.
She felt him nod, “What kind of game do you want to play, Tiger?”
Y/N couldn’t help but smirk at her idea as the words left her lips, “I’m proposing a little bet.
Clearly were both attracted to each other, and it ends there, yes? Nothing romantic, just two horny best friends who need an outlet. So, why don't we have a little fun with this? We tease the other to breaking point, bring them to their fucking knees begging for it, and the first one to cave, loses. Nothings off limits, but you can't kiss the other, otherwise you lose."
At this, Archie lifted his head wearing a matching smirk, though it couldn’t be seen as the street lamp sending orange hues into the bedroom only lit up their silhouettes, "What does the winner get?"
"Whatever the fuck they want.” Y/N’s hand made its way to the boy’s neck and she tilted her head upwards to whisper into his ear, “And, when I win the first thing I'm going to have you do is eat me out again."
The boy chuckled dryly and shook his head, "Tiger, I'll be doing that when I win anyway."
Y/N giggled, tempted to throw the bet immediately if the consequence was his head between her legs once more. “Game on, Andrews.”
Archie couldn’t help but chuckle at the absurdity of this situation, though he had to admit he couldn’t wait to see what his best friend would do to try and make him lose.
“Okay little girl, it’s time to sleep I think.” His voice felt more authoritative this time, and Y/N loved that about him, he wasn’t afraid to tell her what to do.
“Goodnight, Arch.” The girl said with a smile in her tone, anxious to see what Archie would do to her over the coming weeks. She felt his head shake once more, knowing a grin was etched into his lips. Y/N rolled onto her side, the boy’s arm tightly wrapped around her still as she drifted off into a fairytale land where this was all real. Not just two friends messing around.
Someone Who Isn’t The Equivalent...
A/N: Here is my first real request! I had fun writing this...so please if you’re interested in requesting, look at my list of who I am willing to write for, or ask me in private message. I always answer!! :)
Pairing: Sweet Pea x reader, references of Reggie x reader, references of old sweet pea x josie
Summary: Sweet pea and the reader are going through the same situation; they are both stuck in an unofficial relationship. After one too many times being blown off or neglected by Reggie, the reader is starting to have enough. Her and sweet pea start to notice that they are going through the same thing, and confide in each other...and maybe something good will come out of it. They do both know what the other person wants.
Warning: toxic relationship references
      Regret filled the air as Reggie slid his shirt back on, giving you a smirk. “I gotta run, my dad will be pissed if I’m not home for dinner. Can I make a rain check on Pop’s?” He asked casually and you shrug, pulling the blankets up over your body. This wasn’t the first time that Reggie has cancelled actual plans outside of your house...actually it was the second time this week, and its only Wednesday.
        “Sure Reg, but can I ask you a question?” You ask turning to face him as he slides on his shoes. He looks up at you with an eyebrow raised. The sorrow in your voice ticked him off slightly. How could you be upset after what you two just did? He nods, awaiting the inquiry, even though you know he was impatient. “Are we gonna ever go on a real date, or am I just a booty call?” You question and he scoffs.
        “Why do you always have to get sappy? We had a good time-”
        “You’re ignoring the question.” You note with a sigh, turning back to face away from him as he grabs his phone and keys from your bed stand, and starts for the door.
        “I’ll talk to you later Y/N, alright?” Reggie says briefly, exiting your bedroom, closing the door behind him. You knew you wouldn’t hear from Reggie again that night. You got up to take a shower, knowing the hot water may cleanse you from all your gloominess. Taking your phone off the charger for music in the shower, you see a text from Toni, asking you if you want to go to Pop’s with her, Cheryl, Kevin, Fangs, and Sweet Pea. Knowing it would be better than being stuck home alone with your thoughts and the cancelled plans with Reggie, you told her you’d be there in 30, and jumped into the shower. You didn’t need Reggie to have fun, especially with Kevin, Toni and Cheryl around. You and Cheryl did not always get along, but Toni definitely brought out her best traits.
        Entering Pop’s, all your friends turned to see you, signaled by the bell. “Damn Y/N...took you a long time. Were you with Mental or something?” Cheryl asked with a giggle at her own nickname for Reggie and you shrugged, not showing the little pang you felt in your chest from her referencing him. You took your seat next to Kevin, across from the tall raven haired serpent you’d only spoken to maybe three times.
        “If I was with him, I’m not now, so guess that’s all that matters...right?” You say, laced with brusqueness. Cheryl was of course taken aback, which made your face soften. You knew she didn’t do anything to you, so she didn’t deserve that. “Sorry. Long day.” You apologize and she waves it off. She was one to be angered by a little snappiness. That was basically her name at times.
        After ordering your shake, you’d listened to Toni, Kevin and Cheryl give the group the latest gossip. You weren’t all that in the mood for gossip, but the fact that their faces lit up when they talked about it, made you happy. Fangs seemed into it too, but Sweet pea couldn’t look more somber. He was staring down at his phone, fingers typing a million miles per minute. You tried not to show your interest, but when he looked up and met your eyes with his hard brown ones, you couldn’t help but cower. No matter what Toni or Fangs say, he is not always a softy. He gave some mean looks, and this was the first time you’d ever been on the receiving end. That made you think back to the time when Reggie always talked about him, hating the serpents, all that bull-crap that you constantly tried to change. It was no use at the time. But now thinking about it, made you wonder why everything in your head went back to Reginald Mantle. You stood up, pushing your phone into your pocket. “Excuse me for a minute, I’ll be right back.” You excuse yourself and everyone nods. Making your way to the surprisingly clean bathroom, you looked at yourself in the mirror; your hair was normal, clothes were normal, but it was obvious there wasn’t something right in your face. Hearing your phone ‘Ding’, you looked down to see Toni’s name flash across the screen.
        From TT: Do I need to come in there? Do you wanna talk privately?
        You smile at the text, knowing she was worried. But did you wanna talk about it? But then you get another text, this one from Kevin.
        From Kevin Keller: Incoming! Reginald Mantle just entered with the bulldogs!
        Your eyes widened. “My dad will be pissed if I don’t make it to dinner, my ass!” you whisper to yourself, looking in the mirror once more before exiting the bathroom, making sure to strut just a little harder than normal, in case Reggie looked over. Sitting back at the table, all eyes but Sweet Pea’s were on you.
        “I though-”
        “It’s stupid. Let’s talk about something else.” You say and Fangs nods, seeing as there were a few vixens with them. This was casual, but he still lied to you. From the look on Sweet Pea’s face, it wasn’t something he wanted to see either, and it didn’t take long for you to guess why. Josie McCoy was with them. Sweet pea huffed, getting up out of the booth and practically stomping out of Pop’s. You felt for the kid. Of course, hanging around Toni you knew he liked her. You didn’t understand why, it seemed she treated him like trash in public, the one time you had seen them together or even remotely near each other in public that is. You followed the leather clad serpent, the bell dinging behind you as well.
        “Hey Sweet Pea!” You say as he reaches his bike, he turns on his heels, seemingly not too afraid to bite if he didn’t like what you had to say.
        “What do you want?” He snaps, clearly not in the neutral mood anymore. You sighed, knowing that Sweet Pea was easily frustrated, and you didn’t want to set him off. But you did want to say something. It wasn’t new for the group you’d been with to see him get walked on, even if Josie didn’t know she was doing it.
        “Listen, I’m not trying to pity you, or make a sympathy group or anything...but I saw that in there. And it isn’t fair for you to leave without your shake, all angry. It isn’t safe to drive like that.” You reason and he cocks his head, raising an eyebrow at you. You could see the disdain on his face.
        “Why would I want Mantle’s girlfriend telling me how to spend my night, and how to feel?” He asks and you narrow your eyes. Him calling you Reggie’s girlfriend made you more mad than you expected it ever would, but the way he said it felt patronizing. It caused your face to get hot.
        “I am -not- Reggie’s girlfriend. But don’t you dare take out your anger for Josie on me, because I am just trying to be friendly. But you know what? I’m sick of standing up for people who don’t deserve it. You? Reggie? You’re all the same. Nobody else’s feelings matter but yours.” You say and start back for the diner, hands clenched. You were already agitated when you arrived, so it wouldn’t take much to really get you going.
        You just barely reached the door when you heard hesitant footsteps. “Hey, wait. My bad, okay?” Sweet Pea says, reluctance and distance clear in his tone as he reaches the door with you, his hand holding it closed so you couldn’t enter. You turned around, and it was now your turn to raise an eyebrow at him.
        “Sure. Your bad. Reggie is not my boyfriend. I thought he was, but he’s not. He is just playing me, so now that that is cleared, may I go?” You ask and he surprises you with a chuckle. It was a smooth laugh, that seemed genuine.
        “May you go? Do you always have to be so polite?” He asked with a scoff. “You’re too good for Reggie, maybe you should ask your friend Cheryl to set you up with someone who isn’t the human equivalent to cat puke.” Sweet pea says honestly, letting go of the door. You weren’t sure if you really were having this conversation with Sweet Pea, or if you’d passed out in the ladies room. But it seemed to vivid to be fake. You could smell the burgers from inside, the smell of gas from the constant traffic on the road, and especially; Sweet Pea’s leather and cologne smell. It was exactly how Josie explained it to you, Toni and Cheryl in the locker room.
        “Thank you?” You said turning to face the -very- tall serpent. You let your eyes hover on the tattoo that covered a small part of his neck. It was always much larger seeming from far away, jumping out at you when you saw it like a reflector on a bike. “You’re too good for Josie. Maybe you should ask your friend Toni to set you up with someone who isn’t the human equivalent to a children’s tea cup set.” You say and let out a chuckle, opening the door and entering. But this time you felt good meeting Reggie’s pouty eyes. Because Sweet Pea was right. He is the human equivalent to cat throw up, and you deserved better. It would be hard, but you can’t see Reggie anymore. That was the bottom line. When you reached the red booths once more, you heard the door open. You turned around to see Sweet Pea looking rather cheerful.
        “Couldn’t forget to finish my shake, right?” He says sending you a sideways glance that you try to ignore, but end up cracking a smile instead. You shook your head as your friends eyed you both, as well as Josie and Reggie on the other side of the diner. It felt nice.
        “God that would be a shame.” You comment sarcastically as you take the cup and slide it over to yourself, taking a sip. “God no, this is amazing.” You note, cracking a grin. You didn’t even like the flavor, but it was not that that mattered.
        “So Cheryl, Y/N said she wants you to set her up with someone who doesn’t have the personality of cat puke.” Sweet pea piped up after a moment of silence. You gasped, sliding the shake back over.
        “Um, no. He suggested it.” You remind him with narrowed eyes. Cheryl rolls her eyes.
        “Toni said you two would be cute together a week ago.” She pipes up and you both whip your heads over to Toni. She had a bright grin on her face that mirrored Kevin’s.
        “Whoa, I never said me.” Sweet Pea puts his large hands up in surrender, but Fangs throws them down, finally piping up into the conversation, sounding particularly jocular.
        “You implied it my man.” Sweet pea shook his head, going defense mode, but more gentle and teasingly than he would normally, as it was Fangs he was talking to. He patted him on the shoulder patronizingly.
          “You wouldn’t know that. You have a body count of like one.”
You woke up to the sun rays hitting your face and to a pounding headache. You groggily turned over shielding your eyes with your blanket. You just laid there hoping to drift back to sleep but life had other plans for you. A soft knock hit your door three times.
“No offense but I'm not in the mood” You snapped.
“Woah there! Now somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed!” Your dad exclaimed from the other side of the door.
You immediately turned over facing the wall and placed the pillow over your face.
“What do you want dad?” You asked in annoyance.
“Well, you're clearly not in a good mood honey so never mind.” Your dad sighed. “Breakfast is ready by the way.” He added as he walked away.
You shot up and reached for your phone. Checking the time it was a crisp 9:27 am making you very annoyed at how early you were being interacted with at not even 9:30 am on a Saturday morning. You scrolled through your phone and checked your texts first. You clicked on Josie's contact who sent you the most texts.
9:35 AM Hey can we have a spa night? Im a huge mess
You threw your phone on the bed and plugged in to charge- something you forgot to do last night. Unlocking the door, you snuck into your bathroom and looked into the mirror. Its not something you wanted to do, but you forced yourself to look at how wrecked you looked. Your mascara crusted around your eyes giving you a raccoon-like effect. Some of the mascara and eyeliner mixed and formed tear stains down your cheeks and your eyeshadow had smudged. The eye shadow on your eyelids formed a line at your eye crease. Your lipstick was the only part that had come off before you went to bed last night.
Well this is not one of your finest moments L/N you thought
You started the tub as you tied your rat's nest of hair in a bun. As the tub began to fill, you grabbed a makeup wipe and removed the mess on your face. Opening the bottom drawer of your sinks cabinet you pulled out a cucumber facemask bottle. The bathtub was filled up 3 quarters to the rim so you quickly turned it off and quickly applied your mask. You dipped your big toe in the tub first, assuring yourself it was the perfect temperature. You removed your bra and underwear and sunk into the tub soaking in its warm embrace. You zoned out consumed by the events of last night. Replaying it as if it were all a movie in your head.
